The entire city knows about Dynamight when he’s chasing villains, his quirk can be heard from miles around, the impact causing the ground to shake just enough you could be convinced there was an earthquake. And you were inside the building at the moment the impact hit—

Imagine it put you in hospital, leaving you there for weeks until you were finally discharged and sentenced to mandatory therapy. Of course your time in the ward was spent watching Dynamight on television praised for how well he handled the attack, apprehending the villains in record time and keeping the city safe. But no one came to check in on you, or the other people hurt by the impact, not even a copy and paste card from Dynamight’s agency wishing you a speedy recovery and making sure you were okay. Nothing.

So you spend your time honing your quirk, training to become stronger so you can handle yourself. A water based quirk should be perfect against someone with a fire quirk like Dynamight, but he’s strong… so you need to try harder. The fire burns behind your eyes when you finally make it to the final rankings and find yourself standing face to face with the man that left you inside the burning building, for one of the lesser heroes to rescue. The man you hadn’t seen since that fateful night, the man whose been at the forefront of your mind for months.

And he doesn’t even know who you are, does he?

Case files 02.01

what I think happened in:

Case 02.01, the case of "Portrait of Daria Gray" or "The artist becomes the canvas."

Daria's story is pretty straightforward. What we know about Daria: she's a struggling left-handed artist who used to wear a lot of hand-me-down clothes from her sister, and she doesn't like the way she looks. At some point she decides to get a bit of a makeover and, among more mundane things, she starts shopping for a new tattoo. She finds a deal too good to be true (it is) offered by one 'Ink5oul'.

Ink5oul is sketchy as hell, and definitely has something supernatural going on. The tattoo they gives Daria (with no input from her, WTF! - paintbrush, floral patterns and glittering symbols) hurts much more than it should, but also heals almost instantly.

Looking at the tattoo (which is 'perfect') fills Daria with sudden desire to paint an autoportrait (which comes out 'perfect'). And once that is done, looking at it again makes her realize she can adjust herself (and make herself perfect).

So she takes her painting tools, most notably a pallet knife, right to her own face (and soon pretty much every other body part) and gives herself an impromptu plastic surgery. Which goes on uninterrupted for several days (???!?!!?!) until her room-mate Sarah comes home. Poor Sarah walks in on Daria while she has a knife stuck in her jaw, understandably freaks out and punches Daria, at which point half of Daria's face collapses under her hand like putty.

Having no idea that her room-mate has been touched by the spooky, Sarah comes up with the only rational explanation she can think of, which is that Daria poured some acid on her own face (which is very comic-book logic, but maybe Sarah paid more attention to Batman than chemistry and biology class as a teen).

So now Daria has severely disfigured face, and also is officially considered suicidal and a danger to herself and must go to therapy. (Honestly, she needs therapy).

There are two things, aside from the obvious, that grabbed my attention here:

The voice. Narration in the first case was that of a pretty normal email - a little bit rambly, a little bit disjointed, referencing things that the recipient would know about that we can only infer. The second case had a perfectly average forum thread. This case... also starts out with pretty realistic voice - right until the moment Daria stats talking about the tattoo. Then suddenly this story gets ridiculously verbose. The way she describes the studio, the tattooing process, the tattoo itself, the painting process and finally the 'adjustments' - the details, the wording - there's no way a regular person talks that way. Not in real time, not about a traumatic event that they very much don't want to talk about at all. So where is this coming from? I think it's the ink. Until proven otherwise, I'm going to assume that Ink5soul's tattoo somehow infused Daria with power to 'express herself' perfectly in whatever medium she's using - be it words, paint, or her own flesh.

Invasion of privacy issues all over the place. First Daria's tattooing session is streamed for who knows how many Ink5oul's fans without her say-so, and then her be-damned therapy session gets intercepted by some weird basement government branch. Daria glosses over the former and doesn't know about the latter, but they are there. And there was that private email in case of 'Not-Arthur' too. I wonder how present this theme will be in rest of the show. One thing I can bet on: if one of the cases doesn't deal with a conspiracy theorist yelling about government spying on them, I'm gonna eat my hat. (And the poor paranoid guy will be 100% right, just not in the way they think).

Chapter 18 Preview

“...I let my depression amplify my resentments,” Kim finally says, “It amplified that and my grief over everyone we have lost. It was easier to blame you. For as long as I remember, you controlled…everything. Even though that isn't possible, that's how it seemed. So it was easy to pin how out of control I felt onto you. I'm sorry.” 

Going by Pa’s expression, he definitely wasn't expecting an apology. Kim has been expecting one from him for weeks, since Pa claimed to Kinn that he would. It never happened, and it probably would have been a front anyway. But it still annoyed Kim, even though receiving an apology would have meant interacting with Pa even more. 

“I accept your apology,” Pa says, his voice a little more subdued, “And I realize that I could have…conducted myself a little differently. I could have been kinder. You…Kim, you push back so hard. Talking to you can be like talking to a brick wall.”

“I know,” Kim says, because he does know that, “But like I said, you have been a lot easier to blame. Taking time off, having support, and being in therapy have helped me see it is a lot more complicated than that and I am trying to work on…breaking down that wall.” 

Pa studies him, then nods, “Well, I am glad to hear that. And I am glad you decided to talk to me about all of this.” 

“I’m glad I decided to talk to you about this too,” Kim says, then tries to think of a way to begin wrapping up the conversation, “I need…some agency though. Trust. I am in therapy, have a support system, have gained weight back, and am doing better than I was. I have even written a lot of music recently-” 

“With Porchay?” 

He really wanted to leave Chay out of this. 

“He's been really helpful,” Kim says anyway, “We’ve written music together, but sometimes we sit in different rooms, write separately, and come back to see what the other thinks. He's been a really good friend to me.” 

“A friend,” Pa says, as if he doesn't quite believe that, “People seem to think you two are more than just friends. Do you have feelings for him?” 

Kim saying that he doesn't would be an obvious lie, so he settles on a partial truth. 

“We are…feeling things out, but taking it slow and mainly focused on friendship and music,” Kim says, then tries to get back on track, “Anyway, I have been doing a lot better and-”

“I don't think he’s right for you.” 

Kim turns his head sharply as his eyes immediately narrow, “Why not?” 

There is a glint in Pa’s eye, something calculating. Kim isn't sure what his goal is, but he needs to be on his guard right now. 

“He…seems troubled,” Pa says, “I think he probably has a good heart, but he's extremely stubborn. He has neglected re-applying for college multiple times-” 

“I got him to apply last month.” 

Pa seems intrigued to hear that, but presses on, “He also seems very angry. I can appreciate that he has certain areas of discipline. When his training stats got as high as they did, I was pleasantly surprised. He also saved his brother. He saved you. I recognize his strengths. But he has no ambition-”

“He does too,” Kim grits out. 

“He doesn't. He has yet to get back to me about taking a position in this family. An actual position, where his high skill set can be utilized effectively. He can't expect to do as well as he has and just…sit on everything he's learned. He needs to be using those skills to help those who made them possible in the first place.”

Kim feels his blood run cold and tries to keep his breathing steady, “Chay…he…no. Porsche doesn't want him involved in…whatever you're implying.” 

“Porsche needs to remember that he has the position he has because of me too,” Pa says, just watching him with this stupid neutral expression, “And while I can respect Kinn stepping back for a while to help you, and Porsche trying to lead in a more compassionate manner than my brother did, we also have an influx of business opportunities that will be coming in. Some are new connections and others are long-standing. But a few in both of those circles can be…challenging. There are also some financial discrepancies we will have to address while they are in. I suspect a few of our international associates are working together, and we will need to narrow down who they are. Chay’s skill set might come in handy. In fact, his skills could be...broadened. As happy as I am for Vegas now that he's living a quieter life, I will say his absence has left a hole when it comes to dealing with conflict.” 

Kim wants to scream. He wants to jump out of his seat and stab Pa in the eyes with a butter knife. But that would give Pa a reaction, and Pa is likely fishing for a reaction. 

But he also could be telling the truth, weaponizing his honesty like he so frequently does. And that just makes Kim feel sick.

OVERALL THOUGHTS: ::taps the top of this car:: you can put so much monsterfucking in this bad boy, jfc.

PERSONAL FAVORITE: Getting unblocked by the most unlikeliest of sources and FINISHING MY SUPERCORP HATESEX. uncharted territory finished FIVE YEARS LATER. This has been a weight on my shoulders for years; I always knew it ended with a sadistic Lex Luthor torturing Kara (oop), but it was time passing and The Flash (2023) that got me where I needed to be to get that banged out. I’m really really pleased how that ended, and that I actually can finish a WIP.

MOST UNDERAPPRECIATED: Bound is really exceptional. It was part of my WIP amnesty week, and a revisitation and remix of a meg masters fic I wrote in 2013 after I had a terrible life-altering accident. My favorite 2023 additions are how she can only speak in the language of Sodom at the end. It’s not a GREAT fic, but I really love Meg and I love Meg & Castiel.

MOST POPULAR: Definitely Nimona (nothing can go wrong when you're in love) with 1,200+ kudos. Y’all, the teen/gen fic in younger fandoms hits hard. OOPS. re: my deeply funny stats for the little mermaid tentacles fic with over 3k hits and 86 kudos. AHAHHAHAH. welp.

STORY WITH THE SEXIEST MOMENT: OKAY, so this is sexy specific to me: in Crave, Galadriel taunts Sauron about how he has to fuck Ar-Pharazôn (a mini love letter to my beloved 5ummit!) and this, to me, is everything: “And you’ll never enjoy Ar-Pharazôn’s little prick again,” she says, drinking in the horror of his recent memories, a soured scheme. “Your play at feigned pleasure in service to a base creature will be ash in your mouth now. You will only think of the taste of my cunt with his cock shoved in your whore mouth.” The crass words burn on her lips but she can sense how he trembles, even in this form. “You’ll hunger for the taste of me. And when he’s dead, when you’ve sucked the miserable mortal life out of him, you’ll never take a lover again for the rest of your unnatural life,” she says. “You know where your dick should be sheathed. In me and no where else.”

MOST FUN STORY TO WRITE: Okay, I traveled for work a LOT this year and one night I was feeling down and angry about the world and asked on twitter that for every like, I’d write a soft haladriel headcanon and by the end of the night, i had the bulk of a little touch in the night and I was such a happy delighted lil soul. Such a highlight of the year.

HARDEST: A tie between Crave, which was writing on hard mode since I’m violently anti dominant Sauron (oop), and uncharted territory since I had been blocked for years.

BIGGEST SURPRISE: The delicious lush connection of Celeborn/Sauron in somewhere in the haze that STARTED AS A JOKE and now I’m full rarepair conspiracy theory into it.

DID YOU TAKE ANY RISKS IN WRITING THIS YEAR? Posting SPN in 2023, lol what was that. And neither of them explicitly destiel. Girl. Both tanked but I love those two fics.

MOST UNINTENTIONALLY TELLING STORY: Okay, one of my yuletides this year is really too close to something I’m working through in therapy. Oop.

FAVORITE LINES/SCENES: Okay literally everything in atomic blonde, that fic is nonstop bangers imho. I love this especially:

“Ah, there it is,” he replies. Stops, and turns to look into her eyes. To drink in her fury. “This isn’t your world, Daughter of Eve. Take your cursed horn and your beautiful face and take the little shieldmaiden too for all I care and leave Middle Earth to me. Grow old and find joy in women’s work.” He blinks, nonsense words emerging out of him: “In Christian Dior dresses and Chanel lipstick, in Italian leather handbags and silk nylons, in handsome British officers and those American boys who offer more than kisses, in the rumble of a Jaguar and the cries of healthy babies who do not fear war. Live and die on an island far, far away.” He blinks again. “I do not want you here.”

MY FAVE PART OF FANDOM IN 2023: Repeatedly saying “you hear me, baby? hold together” at the haladriel fandom like Han Solo does to the Millennium Falcon and we did! We made it another year!!! Let’s go, 2024!!!! (YOU HEAR ME, BABY. HOLD TOGETHER.)

2024 WRITING AMBITIONS: same as last year’s: Write more steadily and consistently. Get back into the drabble mode. Make time, take time, just do it. It doesn’t have to be groundbreaking, it just has to be creating something. The joy of creation is like nothing else. Chase that high.

Quantum by @infernopkz VERSUS The Listener by @hecking-heavy - Round 2 Set 2

Quantum- Description:

They have the ability to scale metal-based walls due to having magnetic paw pads (walls that can normally be interacted with; not background walls). The scaling speed is about the same as the average crawling speed. Quantum is incapable of walking upright. They move slightly faster than hunter/artificer (1.35). Due to this, they can only hold one item (in their mouth) and store one item (in their stomach). They are better at evasion than offense. To compensate for their inability to throw rocks and spears, they can maul for 0.5 damage. They can eat plants and insects (aka default diet). They have 3 food pips that need to be filled, but can't store any for the next cycle. Other stats not mentioned are the same as default.

Story:

Quantum was created by two iterators, Nebulous Wisdom and Continental Horizon. The purpose of their creation was to help keep Wisdom alive, who has been dealing with severe system failures her entire life due to faulty construction. They decided to create a slugcat who has been modified to be a cyborg, with the main benefit being an iterator neuron ending inspired tail. This is to allow them to easily communicate with Quantum while they're inside the structure. Their legs are also mechanical, which gives them high stamina for the longer trips through the structure. Quantum can't fix existing major problems, but they can fix smaller problems to prevent those from getting worse. When they're not busy performing maintenance, they hang out in the world or around their structures.

Fun Facts:

They can display pretty much whatever they want on their visor, though they usually just default to eyes :) And also they can communicate to iterators through their tail, though it's like talking to a 1-2 year old for the iterator lol

The Listener- Description:

She has the ability to tune into broadcasts, just like Spearmaster, along with extremely good hearing in general (indicators would appear when off-screen enemies take a step, white lizards and dropwigs would be more obvious, etc). On the other hand, she gets Gourmand's mobility and spear damage without the crafting. She'd play on Artificer's map, having the drone but a much higher reputation with the scavengers.

Story:

She was a natural-born slugcat whose ears either weren't ever on her head or were ripped off in a terrible encounter with a red lizard. In the lore, she was the one responsible for reactivating an iterator known as Wandering Mind (who I'll be submitting for the iterator OC tournament) by essentially pulling a Rivulet three times. Minds was grateful enough to manufacture a pair of bionic ears for her to use, adding in all these features. Now she just hangs out, listening to broadcasts and keeping the local scug and scav colonies up to date on iterator affairs.

Fun Facts:

Yes, she revived an entire iterator. Yes, she still needs therapy.

HOW DO I GET HARPER TO FUCK MEEEEEEEEEE AAAAAAAAA

There's a couple different ways, actually!

The easiest and most surefire way to fuck them is in the asylum, at the end of your visit. You need to either get your trauma level down really low, or your awareness really low. (You'll know when your awareness is low enough because you'll get a special trait + message when you sleep again.) Anyway, achieve either of those things, and at the end of the day Harper will call you in for one last meeting/"session" before letting you go, and an encounter with them starts!

There's another asylum encounter but I've never managed to get this one yet (didn't have the proper stats raaa). To begin, you need high arousal and a promiscuity level of 3, I think? (but I recommend having it as high up as you could go), and all that's left is chance, because the treatments happen at random. It happens during the kissing session/treatment. You need to choose to kiss them on the lips, then take it further, and so on! It'll escalate and escalate. (Note: if I remember correctly, promiscuity is the only skill that's important for this scene! so go wild! but if you don't have high enough stats for it, there's multiple options on how it could go, even if you don't get to have an combat-style encounter with them).

The next one takes place at the underground farm. You'll need high skullduggery for this one! Remy will take you to Harper for examinations during noon on some days (you go to Niki on the other days, I'm not sure if theres any pattern to it). One of the examinations includes Harper making you drink from a vial of pink liquid, choose the "deceive" option and it'll play out from there! Of course, you only achieve your goal if you're successful (+ you get a feat for it, if you care about those hehe).

The last one I'm aware of is one I'm unsure if it even counts, but it's still an encounter so I'll include it. Happens during the Friday therapy sessions. Happens during a hypnosis session after you've been attending therapy for a couple of times (doesn't have to be consecutive). Eventually Harper will invite people in to take pictures of you while hypnotized, and there's a chance they'll advance on you. Two things, though. It's only happened to me when my PC has their chasity belt/cage on, so I'm unsure if it still happens without it on. (The main goal is for the group to take it off, and if it breaks they move on to the usual combat encounter behaviors). The encounter always ends when you orgasm for the first time.

Watching the teenagers talk among themselves, gesticulating wildly, Wei Wuxian figured they must have spent a lot of time in full dive systems, which was odd enough. After what had happened to Lan Zhan and his brother, it seemed more likely that their uncle would’ve shut down any association Lan Corp had with that tech. Then again, it had been over a decade. Maybe Lan Qiren wasn’t even CEO anymore, though Wei Wuxian couldn’t think of anyone to succeed him. Neither Lan Xichen nor Lan Zhan had seemed particularly suited for the position of a CEO when he’d known them.

“Sizhui,” the loud Lan - Jingyi? - suddenly interrupted the conversation, “is your dad gonna pick us up?”

Sizhui shook his head. “No, he’s at physical therapy.”

“He’s always at PT,” Jingyi muttered.

“It’s not like muscle atrophy suddenly goes away,” Sizhui reprimanded him as the Ouyang boy dug his elbow into Jingyi’s side, and Jingyi grimaced.

“Sorry, you know how I meant it. After all this time, is there really a chance it’ll get better?”

Sizhui sighed, proving at once that it couldn’t have been just Lan Zhan raising him for all that open sass. Had he gotten a real marriage? A proper spouse with benefits that weren’t the the highest spell stats?

“Father cares about it.”

Lan Zhan had been their high school and university’s athletics champion for years. The time spent comatose in game would’ve likely ruined all of that. If Wei Wuxian still had a body, it would probably break apart the moment he tried to move.

“We can catch the bus to my place then,” Ouyang kid said. “It’s not that far from Lan Corp and we can grab food on the way.”

So much for Wei Wuxian’s assumptions that the company wouldn’t have anything to do with Full Dive tech anymore.

“Are you all diving from Lan Corp?” Wei Wuxian asked.

“Yeah, it’s the closest,” Jingyi said. “What company are you playing at?”

“Jingyi!” Ouyang - okay, Wei Wuxian really needed to catch his name - exclaimed. “You don’t just ask a high level player from where they’re diving when in private! Sorry, Senior Mo!”

Oh, dear, did they assume Wei Wuxian was a pro gamer? He grinned.

“No, it’s fine. I’m diving from home!”

A blatantly lie as Wei Wuxian’s continued existence was a string of zeroes and ones, but he wasn’t about to tell a bunch of kids he was little more than a virus hanging onto the remaining Wen servers.

But instead of reassuring the teenagers, his statement just made them gape in horror.

“From home! How? With a homebrew system? Isn’t that illegal?”

Was it? It hadn’t been when Wei Wuxian was still alive. Most of them had dived from home over standard consoles.

“What server are you on? Even Sizhui isn’t allowed to dive from home, though it wouldn’t make such a big difference for him.”

“Father doesn’t want me to risk taking a less secure connection. I could suffer severe damages.”

Yeah, that did sound like Lan Zhan. Wei Wuxian laughed and ruffled the kid’s head. “Being supervised while diving is for the best. I’ve got my brother looking after me, don’t worry.”

Despite everything, Wei Wuxian was sure Jiang Cheng had claimed his body. His brother probably arranged a nice funeral too. Wait, was his name famous IRL now? Wei Wuxian mentally patted himself on the shoulder for sticking with Mo Xuanyu’s character profile instead of editing it.

“That’s good, Senior Mo!” Ouyang kid said.

“Are you diving on a regular schedule then?” Sizhui asked. “We took down that demonic arm quicker than I calculated with your help. You’d be a great addition to our party.”

The last tome Wei Wuxian had been part of a group, it hadn’t ended well for anyone. But without him there, the kids would’ve died and they obviously planned to stick around.

And if Wei Wuxian wanted to figure out who had hooked up the Wen servers to a new game, he ought to stick around living players.

“I’d be honored to join your party,” Wei Wuxian said. “Maybe I can teach you a trick or two!”

Not any of the gaps he exploited for his demonic cultivation, but one or two shortcuts that would bolster the kids’ chances. Maybe he could disguise hacking their stats as extra training. Obviously they wouldn’t die IRL if they died in game, not like the last humans Wei Wuxian had talked to, but he was incredibly selfish.

He didn’t want to witness anyone’s death again. Helping then was fir his benefit too.

I want to hear about your strategy RPG with the unrotting forest zombies!

It wasn’t strategy, it was RPG Maker. It was two or three hours long, with four (tiny) dungeons, three endings, two secret characters, and one adorable shapeshifting slime monster. Sometimes I think of trying to get it to work again, but I’m not sure where the issue is. (Everything high-level in RPG Maker still looks perfect, so there must be an issue somewhere lower down.)

In retrospect, not everything I tried worked. I wanted this “knife fight” setup where neither you nor your enemies have much HP, but RPG Maker works better for more padded combat where you have time to U-turn when your strategy fails. But I still like the contrast between the almost cartoon-like world and the suffering the war brought, as if the war was something that shouldn’t have existed and fundamentally tainted the world.

Here’s my old character list. (At the time I wrote this, I referred to the elves as Aetheril from the island of Aether, as opposed to Humans from the continent of Huma.)

Graciela "Gracie" Rosith: Heroine. A field medic in the Human army, thought dead in the war with Aether. Actually a slime monster pretending to be Gracie, but don't tell anyone! Can mimic other characters' highest and lowest stats.

Maralia "Marie" Rosith: Speed specialist. A newly recruited scout in the Human army. Half-Aetheril, and unhappy that people keep bringing it up like some sign of disloyalty. Can't control her inherited magic. Sister of the original Gracie.

Royce Adams: Attack specialist. A Human soldier, conscripted at the tail end of the war with Aether. Survived the near-annihilation of the western front, and he's bitter as hell about the whole debacle. Picked up some unusual magic from overexposure to withering energy. Really just needs therapy.

Tomasio "Tom" Fleureis: Magic specialist. Aetheril defector and brilliant magical researcher. Worked on the magic weapon that ended up blowing up the western front. Breathtakingly self-absorbed. Grandfather of Gracie and Marie.

Billiam "Billy" Sanford: Resistance specialist. Wealthy young nobleman, a prodigy at magical barriers. Basically a huge nerd. Tom's research assistant. Has a thing for Marie.

Defense specialist: Beneath notice.

Luck specialist: Watching and waiting

1. How many works do you have on AO3? 103. (mind you, some of these are crossposted on ff.net, but many of my earlier fics were only ever published there, so I'd say that actual number of fics I've ever written is closer to 200.)

2. What's your total A03 words count? 742.871

3. What fandoms do you write for? Currently? Pretty much only SaB (I usually only write for one fandom at a time). Over the course of my fic career? I've written for maybe about a dozen, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Avatar: the Last Airbender being maybe the most prominent ones.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? Terrible, Beautiful, Unsaid Things (2258), Through Wide, Grey Eyes (1381), The First Star in the Black Velvet Night (1182), A Little Star in the Night (1103), and The Unabridged and Annotated Diary of Mrs. Alina Morozova (874).

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? On AO3, rarely - since the system counts your replies as a comment, inflating the numbers, it feels almost like cheating/messing with the stats, so basically I only ever reply if I get a direct question there. But I always respond here, my askbox is open, and I'm semi-present on twitter and blue sky.

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Not gonna give actual titles here (I'd have to look them up), but I have used writing as a therapy tool to process losing people close to me. A family friend (almost like an uncle to me) who died suddenly in 2008, and my grandma, after a couple of months long illness, in 2015. Those two stories are, to me, at least, the angstiest things I've ever written.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Depends whom you ask, I think? :D But my fics usually have a happy ending.

8. Do you get hate on fics? Not really. I've recieved hate personally for the couples I ship, and some... puzzling comments over the years. (One I remember clearly for some reason: I wrote a two-parter story about (mostly) Azula post-atla, playing with her fractured mind, going into a tentative improvement. There was an early scene where she basically hallucinated her childhood and saw Zuko as the younger sibling - her unconscious desire to shift the power relations. Then of course I had a reader who felt the need to school me on how I don't know the canon well enough, because Zuko is the older sibling.)

9. Do you write smut? If so what kind? I do, the very vanilla kind (one guy, one chick, nothing too kinky), but in a sensual, kinda poetic way (I hope)

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? Once (I mean: back in high school) I started writing a Harry Potter/Wicked crossover. Thankfully, it never saw the light of day (it was also written in Hungarian, if I remember well). I think that might have been the only crossover I've ever written.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I know of.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? I've gotten some permission requests for translations over the years, but I've never seen any of the finished products.

13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before? Kinda? I once wrote a one-shot with a steamy-leaning ending, and @abedsmessedupmeta wrote a smutty continuation for it. Does that count?

14. What's your all-time favourite ship? Depends when you ask...

15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? BWHAHAHA. All of them (no, I'll finish them, really). Next question, please...

16. What are your writing strengths? I'd like to say emotional descriptions, dialogue, and humor. And apparently smut?

17. What are your writing weaknesses? Writing complex movement (e.g. fight scenes), longer narratives

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? It's a tricky thing, because you have to integrate it into the text seamlessly, in a way that doesn't break the rhythm of the text. A Discovery of Witches does a pretty good job of it, I think. Also, bilingual (poliglot) characters habitually using certain words from their native language, especially if they are well-integrated in fandom (see: Russian terms of endearment for Aleksander) can be a handy stylistic tool.

19. First fandom you wrote for? Harry Potter. I was 12, didn't speak English well enough yet, and it was basically the only fandom with proper fanfic presence in Hungarian. A real gateway drug.

20. Favourite fic you've ever written? I wanna say Terrible, Beautiful, Unsaid Things, because while I honestly think that it turned out really well, it was my big comeback after about 1,5 years of inactivity, and I never dared to hope that it would become such a hit.

♡ The world needs more baby Tamaki and Dad Gum, and I am all too happy to supply it. I will admit that I had a lot of trouble with this one for some reason, but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless!

♡ Bonus Headcanon: Tamaki is adopted! He was passed around a few foster homes during his first year at UA before Taishiro took him on as an intern. The stress from being swapped from home to home did not work well with the stress of hero work, so Taishiro decided that Tamaki needed a solid and secure home life to truly thrive.

♡ So, Taishiro signed the papers and became Tamaki's legal guardian without a second thought.

♡ It was awfully surprising for Tamaki to be adopted by his mentor, but he'd be lying if he said that Taishiro was wrong. He was significantly less skittish in the field without worrying about where he'd be living in the next month or so.

♡ However, being in such close quarters did mean that Tamaki's new guardian quickly learned about just how deep the boy's anxiety went. He gladly sprung to get Tamaki into therapy and was abundantly supportive of any coping methods he wanted to try!

♡ Regression was just one of the few methods that really stuck for Tamaki, and far be it from Taishiro to stop him from doing whatever helped. In fact, he took on the transition from guardian to caregiver as easy as one, two, three!

♡ Taishiro has trouble leaving Tamaki at home alone even if he isn't supposed to have little time! The thought of him regressing alone is enough to make a grown man weep. But, Tamaki swears up and down that if he feels even a teeny bit small, he will call.

♡ Still, oftentimes this means that even if Tamaki is not supposed to be working that day, he may find himself at the agency with Taishiro.

♡ There is a playpen in Taishiro's office to contain Tamaki's baby crimes and keeping his sticky little hands secluded to only a portion of his wallpaper, but it does very little to keep other sidekicks from taking the baby out and unleashing him.

♡ But, really, Taishiro can't blame them. Normally Tamaki is 50% nervous and 50% tremble, so seeing him so playful and carefree is fun and exciting! And it's good for the little guy to get out and socialize while he's in the mood for it.

♡ Most of the time he does have to go recollect his kid because some sidekicks think that giving the baby with anxiety an iced coffee certainly is not a recipe for disaster. Tamaki's tremble stat went up to 75%.

♡ Baby Tamaki is also a firm believer of food (and drinks) tasting better if it is not his. Doesn't matter if the meals are exactly identical in every way, he believes it's more special when it is shared.

♡ And Taishiro is incredibly weak to this. He is not naturally weak by any means, but seeing those big ol' eyes just staring up at him and watching those ears perk up just makes it so easy to relinquish the first bite.

♡ Tamaki's cheerful purring almost makes it worth it.

♡ Taishiro feels like a true clown when his sidekicks inform him that they've just been pretending to eat the boy's own food so he thinks it's actually their's that he's partaking in.

♡ He's just a big sap that loves his skittish kiddo too much to think that maybe, just maybe, there was a work around this entire time. 😔

Yato with Metastatic Aberration has 2s redeploy cooldown and a base cost of 2.

By itself this doesn't do too much. You can toss her onto the field over and over, inflicting Yatorment on her with little gain. With her stats halved she'll have a hard time surviving any single hit.

But if you have one or more of a few collectibles this actually becomes quite good:

Glory Pack lets you use her to repeatedly stun ground enemies by letting her get knocked out. This also synergizes with String/Children's Puppet to let you do some decent Arts damage, as well as Victory Horn/Flash Camera/Therapy Tape for up to 27.6s of stun per Yato.

Medicine Sticks and Royal Brooch are another means of making this useful. With these, it'll take up to four hits to knock her out and she becomes an excellent stalling tool, since she'll just be right back. With this, she can technically 1v1 the new fourth ending boss if you give her enough time. You might want to consider passing up either of these if you're already relying on the first combo, since that one becomes much worse when Yato doesn't die immediately.

Blunt Claws - Advancement, Hand of Snatcher, Wavebreaker and SilverAsh also give a slight boost to this, with the former two bringing her down to 0 DP cost, SilverAsh further reducing her redeploy time and Wavebreaker being another avenue to get it going, as well as setting her to 0 redeploy time together with the Rejection. The DP cost reduction isn't relevant if you get the Rejection (she caps at 4 with it) but with her regular base cost you do need some DP support.

So the next time you get a Vanguard Voucher while you have 0 Hope or are just saving up, consider picking Yato.
