So I decided to rewatch "A Private Little War" because I wanted to experience it again with SNW in mind but then I got to the part where Jim gets bitten and Bones takes him to the village to get treated and
I'm so excited hes about to heat up a rock with a phaser, the best part of any Star Trek episode.
Awesome, now Jim will be nice and warm and
He heated up a second rock???? Okay two red hot rocks should be warm enough, right? Like its not even cold, its a nice sunny day--
A THIRD ROCK???! HE PHASERD THREE ROCKS.
Bones, I think Jim's warm enough... he was probably warm enough after the FIRST rock.
Like thats too many rocks, this cave is now a million degrees and you've made it a terrible experience for everyone else. Heating up this many rocks is how you get caught, there was no reason for any of this.

Caleb and Nott get a bad rap for being very deeply and unhealthily codependent which, for the most part, is a decent observation of their early game dynamic. But, in revisiting the early game, I do wonder at the fact that this label is almost universally applied to them but rarely comes up in conversation with Imogen and Laudna, in my experience. There are contrasting interactions that happen in early c2 and early c3 that I think are a really interesting look into the reality of these dynamics.
In c2e2, Caleb and Nott have this interaction:
Nott: Well it's just that-- listen, there's no offense, I enjoy our talks and your schooling and everything, but I haven't talked this openly and freely with other people in months. It's amazing.
Caleb: It really is pretty nice, isn't it?
Nott: Yes!
And in c3e2, there is this interaction about Imogen and Laudna's relationship:
Laudna: Imogen and I don't talk to anyone. (laughs)
Imogen: No, not really.
Ashton: You guys seem like you have a really good deal going on. Should keep that up, it seems nice.
I just think there's something interesting here that may show an inconsistency in the way fandom remembers certain things vs the way that they actually were. Nott and Caleb were certainly codependent, but they were also actively hoping to fall in with a group for protection and, well, because they (primarily Nott, but I’ll use a general they) wanted to expand their social circles. Laudna and Imogen, frankly, might have just stayed the two of them if they didn't happen upon the rest of the Hells and honestly didn't seem outwardly bothered by that at all. Imogen never seems to have wanted to expand her social circle for fear of what her own powers would make her hear and feel, and Laudna, though a lover of people, seems like she would have been content to follow Imogen into whatever isolation worked best for her.
I just find this a very interesting contrast to Caleb and Nott's fumbling, often poorly received attempts to reach outside of their friendship toward others, the intentionality of which I feel is rarely emphasized. Their distrustful natures (and the traumas they had suffered) made them skittish and likely to flee. But they did want more than what their relationship could sustain and subsequently sought it out.

when sylvie rolls up to a branched timeline during the year 1982 in the middle of oklahoma in a random field, i am torn between the emotional potency of her experiencing a timeline that was destined to be destroyed like her own was, and how fucking weird it must have been for jack, the mcdonalds employee whose only priority is to graduate high school, to have encountered this feral creature rolling up straight from the end of all time. she's still in her battle armor and has open gashes on her face and she's asking for something that isn't a squirrel, possum or a rat, please. he adjusts his tie with a smile and says "okay!" when the woman with a machete asks to try everything. absolute king. customer service is just like that sometimes.

Yes he needs to be whumped more I will break Raph lol
YEEESSS!!
He needs to be whumped more in canon and even in my own mind. because, like. Leo tends get whumped in my brain the most because he's a fav and its SO EASY to do.
Bjt while raph is also a fav, I think it's harder to whump him because I dont think (physical) whump really bothers him all that much. Like yeah he'll be grumpy while he heals and probably irritated that he got hurt, but he'll grin and bear it and brush it off.
So that leaves the more emotional whump/angst route, (which I personally dont like as much as the physical whump sometimes).
So most of the Raph whump scenarios in my brain are more like "hey raph, wouldnt it suck to be hurt enough that you cant help your brothers when they need you? That if you'd been okay you could have helped them, could have saved them? But you were hurt and couldnt fight the pain long enough to save them? Wouldnt that be terrible >:3 ? (Raph: YES?! WTF)
But yeah I think him losing his brothers or being unable to help them would be worse than any physical injury he could get.

Does zombie mob have fangs? When he's cured would still have them? Also how strong is zombie mob compared to human mob?
i like to pronounce fangs in my art bc it's fun and i think it looks cool but zombie mob doesn't actually have bigger or sharper canines than humans do. it's the Bite that's dangerous, not the sharp teeth, and that's not just because a zombie bite can turn you*
zombie mob is Very strong! ritsu first discovered this when trying to gently (and then with more oomph) push him down onto blankets to get him to sleep and it was basically impossible to even budge him, no matter how much strength behind it he applied—if mob doesn't wanna lie down, He Simply Won't <3
ritsu was reminded of this later, during the incident where tome was swarmed and mob defended her. during the fight mob had grabbed one of the zombie's heads and slammed it into the wall of a nearby trailer and the dent it made,,, let's just say that was Not caused by human levels of strength.
*after that ^ fight, ritsu came to the realization that zombie jaw strength is Wicked. they can bite down on metal and bend it if they wish—if they wanted to break bone with a bite, they could do so. mob was Incredibly lucky he got away with as few wounds as he did during that quarrel; the ones in his arm are Bone Deep and if that same level of strength had been applied to his neck, it woulda ended everything in a snap
important to note that bc he's prolly one of the healthiest zombies out there, that also means he's not as shaky as the others from starvation—zombie mob could potentially have a lot of strength underneath that docile nature, more than most zombies could muster up
luckily, ritsu has never been on the receiving end of mob's new abilities, but that also means he's largely in the dark about what he's capable of. mob never rly uses his strength outside of fights, and when ritsu tries to get him to lift something heavy, mob just kinda stares at him and then gets distracted by a bee. it's very hard to utilize any advantages his brother may give him in surviving, and ritsu doesn't wanna treat him like some servant, so he largely forgets about his strength until it's used in very dangerous close calls

Explain to me how, in 2024, when apparently being queer is so 'accepted' and we're apparently making so much 'progress', it's still the case that when a person takes issue with me for whatever reason, the first thing they use to attack me is my sexuality. I've been called a 'dirty lesbian' and a 'filthy dyke' today, and I've had other people in recent memory toss various slurs at me regarding my queerness. Not aimed at me, but I had to tell someone recently to please not describe something he disliked as 'faggotty' or even use that word around me.
Just...how is this progress? When the very first thing that people reach for is queerness as a way to insult, demean, or belittle someone? I remember being a young child and hearing people use the word 'gay' to describe something bad. I'm now in my thirties, and it's still happening. Show me how people have changed, because maybe I'm just too angry right now, but I can't see it.
