I did a vine theme for pumpkin carving this year. A pumpkin pumpkin and a rose pumpkin.

I'd made a poll asking whether to do vines or draw Dan and Valerie from Danny Phantom, or both. ...And although 'vines' won, the idea of adding something Dan and Val related was too compelling. The thought of deep red roses with their thorns being like Valerie. ...And, well, I suppose Dan's like a big heavy pumpkin being thrown at stuff?

I tried making the plants wrap around an object representing them, Dan in a D shape and Valerie in a triangle shape. Though it's not very noticeable.

I recently saw a video of a diver seeing a squid andnthe squid was 'aggressive' toward them and then went for pets and it made me think of v1 so bad ...

uuughijfg wait i love this so much bc i really think of v1 being. very bad, especially in the beginning, with asking for affection - it doesn't really know how to engage gently or express itself without defaulting to violence. so gabriel has to learn very quickly, as they begin to spend quiet time together, that v1 suddenly launching itself at him sometimes just means that it actually wants his affection. it's not exactly intuitive, with them getting into several pointless fights because v1 just starts pummeling him, but gabriel soon notices that v1 seems equally as frustrated with his response as he is with its random attacks. so he thinks it over and considers some deescalation next time to get to the bottom of this - it's not long before it springs on him again but he simply holds it tightly in response, meaning to ask what the HELL this is all about as he keeps it in a bear hug....but it calms down immediately and the words die out. it cuddles up to him, closing its optical as its head relaxes on him and its "breathing" slows in his arms. gabriel's not entirely sure what that could mean, but after a couple more experiments with this new approach he manages to do the math. he does eventually have a conversation with it, letting it know it can find other ways to ask for his attention since it's a pretty mixed signal for him...so v1 thinks it over. and soon starts climbing all over him so it is just as impossible to ignore :]
