hatchetverse but paul accidentally becomes everyone's parental figure. lex & hannah's? sure, they deserve a good parent who'll look out for them. stephanie lauter? yeah, why not, her dad highkey sucks. richie? absolutely, could even make them be biologically related for the lols. he meets peter through ted, they're chill (potential for angst if ted disappears in this iteration of the multiverse). he's the guy alice goes to about all of her stresses and worries- the 'cool uncle'. he meets ruth at the coffee shop where he sees emma before they have a concrete relationship, ruth is very vocal about how she wishes she could have a partner too. he could be even max freaking jagerman's unofficial dad (he does not think max has to fight off "one lousy skele'un" to be worth something). he tries to solve grace chasity's religious guilt with "yeah no sex is normal" and she views him as a source for all advice on the matter after that. paulkins but paul is a tired dad and emma doesn't find out he has like 50 kids until they've been dating a couple months and one of them randomly runs into his house. she introduces him to tim and he just rolls with it. it's another nephew, okay, neat. he's not great with kids but he finds himself with loads of them somehow anyway. then they all face off against sadistic eldritch gods and multiple cults together like a family. what more could you want?

in tgwdlm when Hidge tells the group to sing the beginning of moana, Paul is the only one who knows it. Like, they're all singing but Emma is joining halfway through each sentence and Ted is just jumping in with "ho ho" and Bill has made up an entirely new song.
it's actually really funny to watch them each individually so I captioned the video but also why does Paul know it???

A list of various LiB headcanons me and my friends have come up with:
They all have their favourite human
The rest of the lords make fun of Pokey and Tinky for their weirdly parasocial obsessions with Paul and Ted respectively
Wiggly still refers to Linda like she's his mother when it suits him due to the events of Black Friday
This spawns petty sibling arguments between Wiggly and Nibbly over the fact Nibbly ate her in Honey Queen
And also means Wiggly gets offended at 'your mum' jokes, which the rest of them take major advantage of
They also do not let him live down the wiggle doll commercial and the stupid names he gets called
'Wiggly has the mother role in the sense that he's tired with everyone else's shit and being the leader means he has to deal with it
In TGWDLM the lighting briefly turns green in the opening number when they're all insulting Paul, which im taking as Wiggly in the Black and White watching and metaphorically booing and throwing popcorn at the cinema screen like "yeah FUCK that Paul guy"
Blinky is a fan of The Magus Archives
Pokey is 'youngest'
Webby occasionally visits to attempt to talk to them and is booed out
Webby has Clivesdale the way The Lords have Hatchetfield, which is in part why everyone in Hatchetfield hates Clivesdale
Please reblog with your own i want to hear them

one thing I absolutely adore about tgwdlm is how completely and irrevocably a stage musical it is. it HAS to be a stage musical - the medium is so deeply baked into the story that it truly would not translate to another medium.
some reasons why:
the musical style is old-fashioned in a way that screams classic broadway. you can't get away from it, especially in songs like "lah dee dah dah day" and "show stoppin number". and it's not just the music, it's the dancing too - have you ever seen a kickline in a movie musical, once, ever? or jazz hands? gimme a break
along similar lines - all the broadway references! hamilton of course, but also wicked and mamma mia and jekyll & hyde
all the attention deliberately brought to the lighting and set! the performers in "la dee dah dah day" loudly saying "lights down!" when it's over; ted, paul, and emma striking the stage after "show stoppin number"; the lighting panels used as sirens, TVs, showcasing hudgins' alexa, and more; ted wheeling the big meteor prop off the stage after "let it out". they don't let you forget that we're in a theater.
all the hokey ass miming and special effects???? charlotte and hudgins having their guts ripped out is flashy and fun onstage because of the intestine props. emma and ted having blood capsules in their mouths. paul, emma, and zoey violently shaking when pantomiming being in a helicopter. ted running in place, moving forward or back to suggest movement across the road. it's all so fun and consistently reminds you that this is a stage
double-casting as intentional obstruction of the truth. we're used to seeing one actor play several roles in a musical, so when a familiar face shows up in a new costume we assume it's a new character. but it was zoey flying the helicopter to clivesdale, and I think it was zoey in the hospital at the end as well. you couldn't pull that shit in a movie because movies don't double-cast.
the role of the audience, the laughter and gasps and reactions and applause, especially the applause at the end when emma is begging the audience members to let her use their phone and demanding to know why they're clapping; sure movies have audiences too but the presence of the audience as part of the story makes a point about societal ideals as something we all have a part in that a movie just couldn't make in the same way
on a related note - emma's sudden awareness of the stage and the audience as the horror trope where the person realizes they're trapped and will imminently die. she knows she can't escape because it's just a fuckin loop. she knows no one will save her because they're all clapping. you couldn't do that in a movie because in a movie there is a fourth wall, whereas on a stage there's nowhere for the characters to run away. on a stage the characters can look you, the audience, directly in the eye, with no camera or screen between you
I will literally never shut up about that curtain call
god damn what I wouldn't give to watch this show performed live

It's Black Friday, which means I'm, of course, thinking about Starkid... and I have a theory that the specific order that the LiB are always listed in (Pokotho, Bliklotep, T'noy Karaxis, Nibblephem, Wiggoth Y'Wrath) are, in fact, the order of how powerful they are, from least to greatest.
Let's start with Pokey. Now, on the surface, yeah, being able to completely take over people and turn them into hollow shells that speak your voice may be pretty damn powerful, but I think this actually works to the LiB's detriment. Think back to what Hidgens said, way back in TGWDLM---the existence of the hivemind would result in world peace, because if they're all under one mind, one "Singular Voice," there's nothing to fight about... but the LiB are all about sowing chaos, driving people to ruin. And if Pokey takes over everyone, there's nobody left to mess with. Even Webby outright compares Pokey to the rest of his brothers, which speaks a lot to how they see him---short-sighted, close-minded, and probably a little selfish. (I could also bring up the fact that unlike the others, he seems a lot more serious and even somber in his infliction, tying into his stone-face mask, but that's a whole other thing.) He's also, interestingly enough, one of two LiB who weren't introduced by way of Sniggles---even Nibbly got a little song from two of them after he did his Honey Queen munching---so maybe that means something? Idk.
Blinky definitely seems to have a good deal of power, if the horrors going on in Watcher World are anything to go by, but it also seems kinda... limited. From what we can see (heh), Blinky just operates out of this theme park, and unlike the others? He actually got defeated. Alice and Bill broke out of the effects, flooded Watcher World, and made it out with their bond strengthened rather than broken. Compare this with Pokey succeeding in taking over the world in TGWDLM---even if he failed later in Yellow Jacket---Tinky easily pulling the rug out from Ted's feet in Time Bastard, Nibbly snacking on Linda without so much as a second thought in Honey Queen, and Wiggly fucking starting a nuclear war in Black Friday despite his cult getting defeated and him not actually manifesting, you gotta wonder... what's up with Blinky failing? But I think his human look in NPMD speaks to that---it's a very laid-back look, and I saw someone suggest that he (or she, here, I guess) is trying to emulate the type of teen who's just there to chill, sit back, and watch TV. Maybe Blinky's whole deal is that he's fairly passive, and just wants to watch the chaos happen while he nudges some folks in the right direction. I could be completely wrong, of course.
Now, Tinky as the brother who's smack-dab in the middle actually makes a lot of sense. His domain is time itself---that's nothing to sneeze at! He's incredibly devious, and he always seems to get what he wants! His specialty is driving people insane! But when you look at the fact that he seems a little too chaotic, even for his brothers, and the fact that his eldritch form is, uh... kinda tame, since it's literally just a yellow goat, you have to wonder if Tinky suffers from middle-child syndrome. He's powerful, sure, but he's weird. Either he gets overlooked or he's just there to be along for the ride---I'm just guessing this based on the fact that he had, like two lines in The Summoning, even though he's probably the reason the messed-up timeline in Hatchetfield exists. He's just the crazy middle child, and honestly? That works. Good for him.
Nibbly, I think, is the only LiB (aside from our tentacle boi) who is explicitly stated to be considered "unique," with a power set that automatically puts him on a different level than a lot of his brothers. He's the only one who can regularly manifest in our reality, which makes him the only one who can physically affect the real world---and sure, that means eating pagent winners, but it could also mean a shitton of other things. It's kind of amazing that with his constant hunger and the power to manifest on Earth once a year, he only limits himself to one sacrifice... and maybe that's the point. Maybe the sacrifice only exists because Nibbly used to use that night to cause as much devastation as possible, and he's calmed down since then. Which, uh... yeah, scary thought.
And, yeah, Wiggly is obvious. He's in charge, he makes the decisions, he's always revered over the others---it's pretty clear that he's the most powerful brother, and though everything he does in Black Friday speaks to that, I have a feeling that we don't actually know the extent of Wiggly's true power... and maybe, that's the point. The other LiB get clear-cut domains---control, surveillance, time, and hunger, with not a lot of room for wiggle room, if you'll forgive the pun---but for Wiggly, it's not so obvious. We know that his line in The Summoning is "Wiggly wants his wrath," but it's not just wrath that he preys on. In Black Friday, he uses what people want to become strong, quite literally marketing himself as the solution to all of their problems. In NPMD, he asks Steph, Pete, and Grace for the thing they cherish. He's not just wrath, but greed and desire, and that adds a punch. Also, that extra bit of complexity makes him line up perfectly as a devil figure.
And considering all of this, you have to wonder---where does Webby fall in all of this? Is she stronger than her brothers, and it's just that they outnumber her, or is she weaker? Is she older or younger (this might've been answered, I'm not as caught up on livestream lore as some may be)? Is it just her in the White, or does she have sisters? She's described as "A Queen in White," not "The Queen in White," which points to there maybe being more, but why haven't we seen more? Why is it just Webby fighting against her brothers, and why can't she do more?
*pauses*
Wow. Okay. Jesus, that got away from me.
Anyways, the Hatchetfield saga has super cool horror worldbuilding

This is something that I think is handled with varying levels of tact but I find it interesting how often Starkid has their villainous characters framed through being predatory to the female cast, especially when they're teenagers.
Aladdin is a great example and honestly him and Jasmine are a really good example of the strategies groomers use on their victims. There its explicitly a theme and commented on. But it's also a thing they do often.
Then there's mouthface and McDoon which I remember being well done but it's been a hot minute since I watched TTO so I can't say with much certainty
Then in Hatchetfield there's Wilbur in BF and how he treats lex. I'm only just making my way through NT but the Blinky mascot and Alice is another example. These I feel are explored less well and feels a little more exploitive. But BF does explicitly talk about how capitalism uses hypersexualisation to make money at women's expense. I'm just starting WatcherWorld so they may comment on it further. But these ones feel a little more cheap. This guy's the bad guy and were going to show it through them learing at a teenager. Man in a hurry and Ted both also do this in TGWDLM and there its more complicated as neither of them are exactly good people, but they also aren't explicit villains.
Then there's NPMD, which is more complicated on this matter. The show is explicitly about outside forces interfering with teenage sexuality. The way Max acts towards grace at the beginning, as someone who was perceived as a woman during adolescence it was very familiar and made me very uncomfortable. But Grace is into it and has her own complicated relationship with sexuality. It makes Grace a more interesting and complex character and has them actually explore a woman's sexual desire which media often refuses to do, but kind of comes at the expense of making Max's harassment more justified. But at the end of the day, even with Max's more sympathetic elements, he's still the villain. He's explicitly making the lives of his peers a living hell. Nothing he did was ok. Through that lense it's a case of a bad thing being done to Grace that she has a complicated response to.
Now I haven't seen every show and there's a good number that I don't remember as well because I watched them years ago so there may well be more examples. I just think it's interested that they keep doing this and have kind of mixed feelings about it

Now that NPMD is officially out, now seems like a good time to crack into this account. So, some lil’ goofy headcanons for the TLiB!
(light) NPMD SPOILERS:
The Lords in Black
Wiggly;
Wiggly often has to keep Pokey in check because he gets too into it (“ Don’t frighten them, Pokey. You nasty boy— “)
—would also like to imagine the reason Infected Alice, Deb, and their friend were not in sync in TGWDLM was because Wiggly was actively berating Pokey and ruining his concentration. (“ Wait. What are we saying. We all have to say the same thing. Let’s get on the same page. I’m here. I’m here. I’m here. “)
If someone actually attempted rubbing his “ belly-well “ or ticking him (in his human form), he would probably laugh while either being interested by their motives/actions or promptly have them absolutely eradicated into the Black and White.
Pokey;
(Human) Pokey keeps his luxurious stage voice, even when mad. but, more-so leans into singing / rhyming when very agitated.
He wants Paul dead in every universe. No matter what. It’s on sight.
He was kinda offended by people calling it " blue shit ".
Nibbly;
Nibbly has an issue with interfering with the other Lords' work, simply because they're hungry. Usually because they haven’t received his Honey Festival sacrifice yet.
Blinky;
He finds human television laughable. Mainly for what mortals find entertaining.
He also " fights " with Nibbly a lot. Only because they prefer to watch, Nib, however, just wants to devour immediately.
Blinky may be the only Lord who blinks, though its not naturally.
Tinky;
He gets very 0’:< when another LiB hurts either one of the Spankoffski’s, especially Ted. Cause they’re “ his playthings ): “. [ Slight inspo from the lovely post below! ]
Tinky's tongue can extend as short or as long as needed, doesn't matter.
—Additionally, some of (Human) Tinky’s bottom teeth can flip down and out to let their tongue out easier*

Thinking about alternate timeline Tim's dying in different ways.
A failed Pokotho invasion before Tgwdlm proper, a young, 12 year old Tim crawls across the island on all fours, blue slime dripping from his face. His limbs have long since given out in terms of walking from overuse in the dance numbers. The singular voice has left them. It moved on, they were a rehearsal, not even the dress rehearsal of the story. Tim is losing the last shred of a mind he could have without the hive singing to him. He can't get out any notes himself, his voice doesn't belong to him anymore. The silence is killing him. He will starve.
An older Tim, an adult, who learned to dance and prrform onstage. He's in love, and he and his girlfriend decided that when he goes to participate in the Nectar King contest, she would go with him. He just wants to make his parents, Tom and Becky, proud. They love him, but he doesn't feel like they've seen just how good at performing he can be. They come to the place of the sacrifice. Nibbly consumed her first, and Tim bites down on Nibbly to free himself and reach for her, jumping into the maw. The bite of the God instantly absorbs into his body, but it doesn't have time to do anything. Nibbly has thousands of needle, shark, and grinding down teeth stretching into the black abyss. Tim's last moment is spent watching his girlfriend be crushed and stabbed through by the constricting jaw/throat snapping shut. Just before it does the same to him. He dies reaching for someone he loved. Someone he brought along to make sure they would be together. Who he led to die with him on accident.
In Watcher world eventually the island is abandoned, everyone is dead, has fled, or is part of the theme park. It's time to expand to the mainland. Tim has walked back and forth on his path for years. He watches the people, every day, every night. His mouth has been stitched shut. He killed his father. Blinky loves family dramas the best, Alice was not a unique case. The others are deconstructing parts of the park to bring with them. Tim wasn't even a sniggle. He's a background element. He's a set piece for a game that already ended. He looks at the engagement ring he stole from his father's body.
He leaves the park for the first time in years, and decides that the ring will be the last thing he ever sees. He goes to his knees, feeling the dirt in one hand. The other is held to the light. It sparkles. He closes his always open eyes. Five seconds pass and the Lord in Black tells him to open them. He feels bugs crawling across his face. He feels breaths of air against his cheek. He feels fingers and tiny bug mouths pulling on his eyelashes. Wordlessly he tells Blinky that he is done, and he will not look at anything else in his life. Blinky decides he no longer needs to see. The bugs are immediately burrowing through the soft flesh of his eyes. Severing the optic nerves. Through a stitched mouth Tim screams, eyes open. But it doesn't matter, they can't see. They're gone. Purple blood drips from his sockets and he is dying, bugs crawling into his brain. Or maybe not bugs. Whatever they are he is already dead.
There are worse ways than dying alone in a car.

VERY new to the Hatchetfield-verse. NPMD was the first ever Starkid musical I’ve seen so I’m trying to learn about the rest of the series
Uhhh lemme see- Headcanons…
Richie having an Asuna body pillow makes me think he’d quote the SAO abridged series. “Take the worst thing you can think of and multiply that by cancer” is something Peter and Ruth hear a lot
Ruth is actually well liked in the theatre program. The actors appreciate all she does and invite her to cast parties. Only reason she’s never gone is cause she thinks it’s some kind of prank (projecting as a former theatre kid—)
Stephanie would be into fanfiction culture. She just has the vibes/pos
Grace described Judas’ betrayal to Ruth and Stephanie once and they described it as “Toxic Yaoi”. She doesn’t tell them Bible lore anymore—
Heyoh!
I'm also kinda new to the fandom. I've watched tgwdlm and Black Friday a few years ago, but I didn't find out about nmt and never interacted with the fandom before npmd. But either way, welcome to hatchetfield and thanks for sending your headcanons!
I don't know if that's what you're referring to but in the show Richie only mentions his body pillows of Rei and Asuka (from Neon Genesis Evangelion) but I don't think that invalidates your hc at all! That obnoxious little disaster of a boy is constantly making references to the weebiest shit and when people don't understand him he calls them uncultured. (Ruth and Pete understand so many anime references because of him without ever having seen any of the media they're from)
Your Ruth hc makes me sad because it makes me think that she's been pranked in that way before and now she doesn't trust anyone who "pretends" to like her anymore :c
Steph I 100% agree with. She has that certain something, the alt style, she's totally a fandom girl. Although most people, even among her friends, don't know that about her. She probably has a tumblr nobody knows about where she yells about her obsessions but irl she never shows that side of herself until she starts hanging out with the nerdy prudes. Seeing them shamelessly gushing over their interests encourages her to let out her inner nerd too. When she eventually starts sharing her fanfics with the others, they're very supportive.
I don't think Grace would know what "toxic yaoi" means so now I'm imagining her being quite happy that her friends reacted so positively to a bible story just for her to look up what that means and. Yes I see why she wouldn't talk to them about bible lore anymore...

THE KAI WHO DIDN’T LIKE MUSICALS OFFICIAL RELEASE!!!
The Guy Kai Who Didn’t Like Musicals!
Run Time: 212 minutes
Genre: Horror/Comedy
Plot: Your average everyday guy (who doesn’t like musicals), a crabby barista, and a sheltered 17 year old singer on tour. What do these 3 have in common? All 3 of them are stuck in the town of Hatchetfield when a musical apocalypse breaks out. People burst out into choreographed song and dance numbers on the streets, and chaos runs rampant. It’s up to Paul, Emma, and Kai, along with a ragtag group of their friends, to stop the musical apocalypse and save the world! Or, at the very least, live to see it end.
Starring: Paul Matthews, Emma Perkins, and Kai Drew!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR DIRECTOR:
Hello everyone! If you don't know already, I'm pastriibunz, but you can call me Pastrii! And for the last few months, I've been working on this little BIG writing project where I essentially "script" my character, Kai Drew, into "The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals!" This has been a HUGE passion project for me, and I'm so excited to share it with you all!
This all started because one day, I watched TGWDLM and I thought: "Hey, wouldn't it be funny if I put Kai in there?" So, I grabbed a friend, and we rp'd wrote Kai in there! It was so much fun, and honestly a few moments in there altered my brain chemestry.
And then, a few weeks (i think? could've just been a few days) later, I was rewatching TGWDLM and I was like, "Man, I wish I had the script for this!" And then I thought, "Wait, I could just write it as I watched!" But then, I had a third, even greater, thought:
"WHAT IF I SCRIPTED THE KAI WHO DIDN'T LIKE MUSICALS?!"
And thus began a month (or two month) long journey of writing this thing out!
There was moments where I felt a lot of creative burnout, points where I just wanted to quit this project altogether, and there was a period of time where I just quit writing it outright. But I didn't. And honestly? I kinda love the end result!
I'd like to thank everyone who's followed me and this project since the beginning, and I'd like to thank everyone who finds it now! Honestly, the excitement and hope that my work would be seen has been a huge motivator for me, and it just makes me really happy knowing that Kai's out there.
I'd also like to give really special thanks to @local-soda-can, who helped me write out the "outline" for this! I couldn't have done this without them. They're an amazing friend, and an even greater co-writer. I love them a lot, so if you liked this, be sure to give them a follow! I love you fizz <3
Also, I'd like to PLEASE ask that you guys reblog this if you liked it, as I've heard it helps more than likes.
So that's that! All I ask now is that you sit back,
relax,
grab a drink and a snack or two,
and enjoy,
THE KAI WHO DIDN’T LIKE MUSICALS!!!!

💙 favorite character from tgwdlm and why?
God I love Bill. He's so sweet and kind and dear god my man is trying so hard to be there for his daughter. Or maybe I just relate to him because I too would find it hard to threaten someone convincingly and would be drinking Shirley Temples in a bunker scenario lol. Bummer that due to the nature of the story (singing = danger/bad guys) we don't get to hear Corey sing as Bill coz I looooove his voice but man his performance is so warm. And his story breaks my heart, whenever I see fanart of him and Alice I just 😭 Runner up character, Charlotte, because Jaime Lyn's character voice and performance cracks me up 😂
🍀 favorite song?
Mmmmmm ok so High School Is Killing Me has some recency bias but god I still feel the same amount of hype when I hear that modulation into the final chorus as I did the very first time I heard it, the whole song is just impeccable (yes including twenty wern). But it ties for first with Show Stopping Number. We all remember where we were the first time Hidgens sat down at the keyboard. When I show friends this musical (why do I say friends plural when you dearie and my partner are the only ones I've watched TGWDLM with 😂) I absolutely REVEL in waiting for the moment this song starts because I know the journey they're about to go on ahahahaha. Sometimes when I'm absentmindedly singing to myself when I'm doing chores or in the shower, I will realise that I've been humming show stopping number (Pokotho would get my ass so fast)
🥳 least favorite song?
Off the top of the dome, gut instinct, I'll say Tied Up My Heart. Funny character moment, but I don't vibe with the music itself at all for whatever reason, it feels almost like it goes on a little too long for me, and I always skip it. Besides, it's followed up by the absolute banger Join Us And Die, so unfortunately it never stood a chance.
the ask game for anyone who wants to play it too!

Having just watched Nerdy Prudes Must Die and being on my Hatchetfield bullshit again, TGWDLM gets more tragic and darker if you think of it in a meta sense; all of Hatchetfield was already taken over, and the whole world was doomed, but the aliens are putting on a show of how it all came to be for us: How it started in Hatchetfield and ended with Paul. Which explains the opening number- the guy who didn't like musicals; past tense. Paul was infected and now he no longer dislikes musicals. They're chronicling the story of him and the people around him before it was all taken over. It's a performance upon the past events. We never saw anyone from Hatchfield "alive" and human. They were all aliens all along putting on a musical for us, the audience

okay so i've just finished watching the tgwdlm digital ticket recording, and holy shiiiiiit has it made me realize just how crazy awesome the proshots are.
like the fact that starkid goes through the effort to stitch together multiple recordings, record separate, close-up performances with added effects, makes sure the sound is mixed well -- that's a whole extra ton of work. and it's literally FREE???
like the digital ticket recording is already better quality than most bootlegs! it's got the advantage of not being recorded surreptitiously, though there's still some audio issues and whatnot. They could've easily made it the free version, or just said fuck it and not bothered with the proshot. but they did, and it makes watching the show so much more enjoyable, and it's awesome. they're literally so based

NPMD thoughts! (SPOILERS UNDER CUT)
oh my god. the jump in quality from the digital ticket to the actual edited version is INCREDIBLE. fucking LOVED the details of costumes, the set, the lighting, the writing on the panels... everything was fantastic! starkid has come such a long way and it was incredible to see the seats filled for the show in the edited version!!!
spoiler thoughts, would love to hear what other people thought! warning for rambling and a lot of caps and excessive punctuation since i can't control my emo-shuns after watching a starkid show, as always 🤪
i was really hoping for the boy jerri/girl jerri moment AND the coffee shop bloopers from the digital ticket to be in this one, but every performance is unique and i'm glad we got to experience the new hatchet-town cameos!
GERALD AND ZIGS AND MAN IN A HURRY (JEFF CAMEO!!!!!) MY BELOVEDS <3
speaking of, i hope the bonus features include bts from the night where the power went out!
high school is killing me is STUCK IN MY HEAD
dirty girl was so fucking good HD. INCREDIBLE
sadly i really wanted some wider shots, especially when everyone was onstage and particularly during the lords in black scene - though it was AMAZING to see the details up close since from the digital ticket we couldn't really see what was happening.
THE SCREAMING WHEN JON STARTED TALKING AS WIGGLY... ME TOO!!!
fucking ADORE the "show me your hands" theme playing with curt's cop, and the "inevitable" piano playing when paul and emma were in Beanies. THEY'RE SO CUTE but it makes me sad BUT FOREVER AND ALWAYS RIGHT <3
also the nightmare time theme during the interval!!!
one thing i really miss about these new starkid recordings is that we don't get the stage bows :( i would have absolutely loved if they did something akin to TGWDLM in black friday and NPMD, where the credits roll over the footage of the cast bowing and the claps! the bows at the end of a show are always so fun, it's a great moment of catharsis for everyone and seeing the cast smiling and happy is something i missed here. ESPECIALLY WITH THE ENERGY IN THE HOMECOMING DANCE
will can STEP ON ME as Max. he's so meta and plays the part so well! apparently the role was rumoured to possibly be Jeff's but I'm so glad Will was Max. we needed the fresh blood onstage in the hatchetverse!
it's so incredible Bryce was able to perform onstage and that Jae got a cameo! HELL YES TO THE NIGHTMARE TIME GANG <3
really wish bryce and kim had bigger roles in this musical, especially bryce as before the digital ticket came out starkid hyped her up so much on the socials. BUT SHE NAILED HER VOCALS and when everyone started screaming/applauding when she hit That Note!!!!! YES!!!!!!
love how we can make comments on the recording, seeing everyone so hyped about the show and loving the show is so affirming! i hope everyone who worked on the show is feeling the love!
i still don't really understand the barbeque monologues and feel they're a bit out of place, maybe because it's an american school musical thing?? but lauren fucking owned it!
kim screaming after ruth died. GET IT SLAY ME WITH YOUR RANGE MAAM
compared to my first impressions from the digital ticket, this is a huge step up. some songs were a bit hit or miss, but man i was crying at the end about peter and steph. love how, like the other two hatchetverse musicals, the ending note was fucked up! that being said tho i am keen for starkid to move onto another potential parody OR a new IP outside of the hatchetverse. i'm super keen to see what the future holds for the company! it's absolutely on my bucket list to watch a starkid show live now <3
