i feel like in the modern day of video games, a lot of games hardly hold onto being talked about for longer than like. a month. which i always find quite sad tbh. like remember when mario wonder and tears of the kingdom happened cause the internet sure doesnt

so i think its so awesome that fire emblem: three houses has as much staying power as it does. people talk about this game like it came out yesterday literally five years after its release. its still played, adored, and sold such a beyond incredible amount of copies that surpasses the usual sales of series i never thought id see fire emblem go past

so i find it a real shame its become a trend lately for reddit dudes to decide suddenly three houses is terrible and actually get geniunely angry when its brought up anywhere (which has slowly but surely spread to other websites 😭)

its actually become rather difficult to talk about 3h in general fire emblem spaces cuz someones always gonna get really cranky about how they think its overrated and then throw a tantrum about how much time you spend in the monastery and blah blah blahhh

its actually identical to what happened to awakening- there was a time where elitists in the fanbase randomly decided "actually awakening is secretly BAD" and started a trend where they tried really awkwardly to turn "awakening saved the series" into a meme and acted really rude to fans of it. it was awful and messy 😵‍💫

things like this are always such. slop to me. its just some people trying to start petty arguments for fun and then it catches on and people gaslight themselves into agreeing and then they try to argue. but their arguments never actually have any weight behind them, they're just regurgitating some opinion somebody told them theyre supposed to have. as a pokemon fan i see this so often 😭 seeing people try to convince themselves legends arceus isnt amazing so they can have something to argue about is geniunely concerning and sad

This is going to be very difficult for some Ghost fans to come to terms with, but Ghost is derivative. I know that. Tobias Forge knows that. Any reasonable person with even the tiniest education on the metal scene, alternative fashion, religious cults and the occult, etc. would know that. Ghost would literally not exist without the existence of The Catholic Church, from which the bulk of its imagery is based off of. It also wouldn’t exist without the hundreds to thousands of years of lore referencing Satan, Lucifer, Demons, Legion, and so on.

They’re out of their damn minds if they think Per is stealing ideas from Tobias. Per’s been rocking his inverted pentagram longer than Ghost has been around. Per also popularized the use of the As Above So Below hand gesture on stage during Ghost’s performances. Per is also more of a theistic satanist whereas Tobias is atheistic. The way the both of them talk about Satan and Satanism is different, and Per has religious beliefs and practices important to him that aren’t necessarily part of Tobias’ own beliefs and practices.

Anyone who assumes any of the nameless ghouls are just building off of Tobias’ fame and “genius” are suffering serious fandom brainrot to begin with. I’m sure these same people would get defensive and pissed off if a metal elitist told them Tobias stole the face painted looks of the papas from King Diamond… which has happened before. They confuse Ghost belonging to Tobias with anything mildly associated with Ghost belonging to Tobias and that’s just plain ignorant.

The Black River Kult is dedicated to the psychopomp ferryman Charon from Greek Mythology. Cult used to refer to sects dedicated to specific gods, goddesses, and/or mythological figures. The term “children” as used within cults, either in real life or in popular (horror) media predate the existence of Ghost. Absolutely nothing about The Black River Kult is related to Ghost and in Per’s own words it will never be music related. It is about Per’s interests and his interest only, and it’s whatever he wants it to be.

I love Ghost, but these types of fans who think they’re doing something for Tobias annoy the shit out of me. Anyone who kisses his ass over every little thing at the expense of other people, especially people he’s worked with, annoy the shit out of me. I think Tobias is very talented and creative, but again… Ghost is derivative. It is intentionally derivative. You would think people would realize this, but hell there are fans whose favorite “Ghost songs” are actually covers that they don’t realize are covers 💀

i was about to hit post when i realised you also asked why. ive already made multiple posts analysing the tsh charas or their relationships which i feel gets into the meat of it anyway so please peruse those tags for longer explanations but as a quick breakdown of my takes:

judy: i just find her so funny and refreshing throughout the whole book; she serves a great meta purpose in breaking the illusion of richard’s trustworthiness as a narrator; she’s actually one of the nicer people we meet relative to all the other assholes in richard’s life; her scenes speak to both her commonalities and differences with richard and i enjoy them a lot. also i love that she’s based on a real person who then did costuming for succession.

francis: do i even need to explain this… hes an icon. i love all the layers to francis (which we only even get to see bc him & richard are so #real worsties)- how he’s so dramatic and emotive but can compose himself at will, how hes both confrontational and cowardly, his random kindnesses and mean quips, his completely fucked sense of priorities at all times…. also his insane childhood & his self-made tragedy in the epilogues. enfant terrible!

i do also love richard for all that he’s a nightmare. hes suuuuuch a mess wrapped within an I Am Normal package #tarttcore. love the way he teeters between reckless self-destruction and “umm you guys are weird” judgment. his self-censorship and revisionist tendencies as a narrator. his outsider role and his actual desperate liking of his murderous rich friends who do not particularly care about him. hes literally 19…. he should have been in the club….

henry & camilla are both interesting but henry is like The Statue and camilla is The Shadow in the sense that theyre both not fully realised ppl bc of richard’s pov/pedestal. henry is kind of the mvp of tsh of course, greattttt lines, compelling character, drives the action, but ultimately hard to crack as a complete person and full of hubris that annoys me. i respect that he gave us hot takes and drama the whole way through. camilla i enjoy the pieces of- beef with judy, french post murder fever, mysterious phone calls, entanglements- but lbr she is the least characterised individual in the book and thus hard to connect to outside of fanon. i still like her tho i esp enjoy how unbothered she is living her own side stories. and i just know she suffered incalculable martyrdom running amongst those men.

charles is more of a real person to richard than the above and he compels me also. such a jarring (if telegraphed) shift from part i to part ii. in a way his descent into darkness humanises him the most bc at least hes torn up about the whole murder business in the first place! but by god his relationships are fucked.

bunny is at best funny. but hes just like. a conservative asshole whos not even smart enough for the course he nepo-babied his way into. and then julian has fun literature class bits and is admittedly also funny (he is so not willing to get dragged into the drama it’s comical) but is just a nefarious elitist weirdo. they get nothing from me.

hm (kinda a rant/vent/i just wanna get things off my chest and actually TALK about whats been bothering me)

so. theres this person that has kind of been the cause of my recent mental lows/imposter syndrome getting worse/fear of connecting to people and general distance from literally every community i enter. i think ive ranted about them before. theyre a writer and in a community i used to be active in, and in the beginning i got along pretty well with them because we both enjoyed similar themes and metaphors in our writing but they ended up kind of dropping me, coincidentally at the same time they gave my actual writing/current wip a shot, and ever since then theyve been sub posting about me in really weird and elitist ways and it kind of had ruined my spirit, especially considering that i did really look up to them as a writer since theyre very into actual technicalities, writing theory, they speak about writing very academically. their odd vague posting ended up seriously knocking down my confidence and ive been spiraling into this strange mindset ever since that i’m incredibly stupid/can never improve/am not a real or proper writer by virtue of the things i write. they talk highly about writing techniques and concepts every writer needs to know, very subtly punch down at those who dont seem to know, yet dont care to make that knowledge easy to understand or accessible to obtain.

on top of that theyve been getting quite close with another new friend i made recently thats very dear to me and seeing them talk about things i cant seem to keep up with because i am too ‘stupid’ has just made me very anxious and brought up old feelings and fears that ive worked very hard on to let go off. this person is keeping me from interacting with a community i love because i cant seem to get ovr the fact that some people just dont like me, because im getting paranoid, because i think their every word is directed towards me, because theyre popular and well liked and everyone always agrees with them, even when what they say goes against what what i do and like.

it really sucks, its been bothering me so much, especially the fact that i cant just let it go. that i cant just ignore them and move on and do what i like without feeling like its wrong or cringe or weird. everytime i think im ready to go back i suddenly see them talking again with my friends that have offered me so much support whenever ive opened up about my struggles and now they suddenly agree and praise that person for having opinions that directly oppose me and the things they were so keen on supporting me on.

but recently i remembered something they said. they said that they dont want to be self indulgent in their writing, that ‘there’s nothing necessarily wrong with self indulgence but it reflects in the writings quality’, that you can ‘tell’ and they dont like that. when they first posted that i just read it and went. oh :( my writing is self indulgent :( does this reflect in my quality as well? is that why they dropped my writing and me, because i like being loud about self indulgence and cringe? and now i remembered that post, and suddenly it kind of clicked

this person very obviously does not write for the same reason as i do. they very obviously do not feel about writing thhe way i feel about it. they talk about it as though it is a science. like its something that needs to be perfected. now, it’s clear that they do love writing, that they have a passion for it, and their technical knowledge very much reflects on their art- and that impresses people. im not like that. i want to learn writing techniques and i want to improve my craft and i want to be taught, properly so, i obviously want to be a good writer, and im going to be a little self obsessed and say that i am a good writer, or at least not a bad one. but there is a difference in how each of us sees writing.

i want to be self indulgent. i want to write what i love. i fucking love writing and story telling and yes, the fact hat my writing is self indulgent does impact the quality of my work, because it makes it better. i am passionate about my worlds and stories and characters because its exactly what i want it to be and thats why is fucking good. because it makes me want to put effort in and learn how to get better. i dont write for a grade, i dont write to make something perfect and deep and meaningful and serious, i dont write to impress someone, i dont write to squeeze as many smart things and references to classic literature in as i can, i write because i want to fucking write what i like.

so im stupid. so im cringe and bad and insecure and a loser and i dont fit into the good writers club but at least what i write makes me happy. whatever. let some fucking whimsy into your life and stop treating me like im an idiot for having different motivations than you.

Soooooooo, the designs for the next season were leaked (and sounds like theyre real btw), and wellll I’m gonna be honest… in my, professional (unproffesional) opinion, I’m really not a huge fan. Props to those who like the new designs, glad you like them! I’m not here to be some precure elitist lol.

My whole thing with the new designs is that I just don’t feel like they really fit the theme? Like for example, the crowns; I have no clue what the crowns have to do with the animal theme, I actually haven’t spotted anything in the designs that fit the theme either. Granted the leaked photos aren’t of the greatest quality so there’s a good chance that I missed something.

The designs are actually super cute, like independtly from what the theme is supposed to be I like them (except for maybe the blue cure I’m still a lil iffy about her design)! And if the Alice in Wonderland theory turns out to be true omg I will literally start freaking out (in a good way), because I feel like the designs fit that wayyyy more than the animal theme.

But why should I just sit here and rant abt the designs when I can literally just make my own fan cures? So thats what I did! I present to Precure Tumblr, Cure Bow and Cure Perfect, the first 2 out of the 4 cures that I’ll redesign!! I’ll also be posting lil character sheets for them as well at some point, including some design notes as well. I love these designs so much, I might actually make a story with them (idk I’m already bad enough w my own magical girl story so I make no promises)!

Also, if anyone has ideas for alternative names for them lemme know! I gave Cure Bow her name bc like, bow-wow? Thats a dog thing! And I gave Cure Perfect her name bc it’s kinda like a cat pun, like purr-fect!

i said avatars in the last ask but theres a lot of things i cant stand about fire emblem, as much as i like these games. trying to pick just one is hard but i think im gonna go with revamping the reclass system. i have no idea if this is an unpopular opinion or not, but i think fates class system is perfect. it’s got a good selection of options for each character, ways to customize it to your liking, while still limiting you to a general set. you have options you can change, like marriage and friendship, but ultimately youre still restricted heavily (aside from corrin, but giving you ONE freebie has very little draw backs. plus, you do have to work a LOT for that, so…) this keeps the gameplay of the game interesting because you cannot just class every single character into one broken class (and if you tried, the game is designed well enough to still give you a challenge). there is no turn everything into wyverns meta. not a thing. you have to consciously make your class choices and it adds into fire emblems emphasis on every choice matters!

ok so when what happened after that?

echoes gets a pass because its a remake of an old game, and for what its worth, the pitchfork isnt bad. the games not designed around class customization and skill collecting, so it makes sense they dont give you much. the genderlock sucks, but thats my only fault with it. the REAL evil is in three houses and engage. in games like this, there is such thing as a little too much freedom! i dont really think of myself as a gameplay elitist kind of person but when it starts cutting into the map design and how the game is perceived its just!! three houses is the bigger offender i think, with the game being designed Like That and thus the maps have to all revolve around not knowing what units youll have and thus are much more bland. engage is a lot better about this, pretty much saying if you reclass your units thats just a risk you’ll have to take. only problem is is that class balance in that game is so dumb. ah yes, nerf cavalry so bad theyre a mere shell of what they once were. fliers though? oh theyre fine. they wont break the game again— oh too late already happened. damn that was fast.

if the way three houses or engage handled skills was more similar to fates, i could see how this might encourage more reclassing and thus going in and out of classes which i can see the appeal of. but three houses has way less of an emphasis on skills (with a couple of exceptions) and engage doesnt even let you keep your class skills so. just pick an endgame class and go.

First and foremost? You should be writing for YOU AND YOUR MUSE.

Those two things are the MOST important part of rping! You don't pick a muse (usually) For someone else you pick them bc you love them, you pick them for you! (picking up a muse for someone else is also valid but not the point of this particular ask.)

I will tell you that writing an OC/AU/ of muse that isnt particularly well liked can be hard to get interactions or visibility for- there are elitist corners of the rpc that just will not even look in an oc's direction unless they are perfectly canon compliant yadda yadda-

But youre not here for them, youre here for YOU AND YOUR MUSE!

The rpc is also full of people who would LOVE to rp with ANYONE!! A lot of positive people who will be happy to build you up and help you further develop your muse with you!

It might be hard getting them off the ground for sure, I had a LOT of trouble getting off the ground because of who I play- BUT do NOT GIVE UP. DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED. There are people who want to write with your muse! And not every person that doesnt want to means you or your muse are not "worthy"

Sometimes theres just no real good way to get two muses to interact without EXTENSIVE AU plotting. Thats no ones fault and thats ok! You AND your muse are MORE than worthy, and have every right to be here. You WILL find your partners to write with. Doesn't matter if its a small group or hundreds of followers. Whats important is the writing, and your muse. As long as you have both? Well then youve already accomplished your biggest goals! GO OUT THERE AND TRAUMATIZE THEM LIKE THE REST OF US DO <3

AND DONT BE AFRAID TO SHOOT YOUR SHOT. See a big name rper? Tumblr royalty? Follow them. Do it. If they dont follow back THATS OK! It's ok theyre not interested, and sometimes that has zero to even do the the character or writing! Some muns just need a very specific curation of their dash! THats not on you and thats ok!! but now you KNOW! You cant know unless you try and you might be REALLY surprised the people you can get a follow back from. Its like a rush of adrenalin to see someone you idolize follow back or even first!

But again, not getting a follow back has nothing to do with you or your muses worth. So if you dont get a follow back? Shrug it off! Keep following keep shooting your shot! Some of the most amazing writers I have the pleasure of knowing came from blogs that were not that well known.

But the most important part of this is dont. give. up. No matter how slow it is, keep going. Everyone starts somewhere, you'll find your group and I promise youll have some incredibly rewarding threads you never even dreamed of.

I've seen many helluva criticals say theyre confused why Stella wants Stolas dead for cheating if she never loved him, but to me it has always been clear as day that she cared more about the fact Stolas slept with an imp than the cheating itself, because of her line "I can't believe you slept with an imp!" in episode 2.

It was also obvious early on that they were in a mutually unhappy arranged marriage because when Stolas tries explaining himself to Octavia he says "we were always-" with the cutoff line suggesting he was going to say "unhappy".

I can buy that Stella hates Stolas for hurting her reputation by sleeping with someone lower class, but what I don't buy is making her character flat as hell.

Yep. There are definitely ways to make one character passionately hate another, yet maintain nuance in their motivations and how the writing portrays them as a person.

Gus Fring, for example, despises Hector Salamanca for killing his business (and most likely romantic, let's be real) partner, so much so that he takes his revenge on the entire Salamanca family before Hector himself, just to make Hector feel the same grief he has. Clearly this person is a cruel, calculating, vindictive motherfucker.

But he's also an amazing boss???

He also shows genuine affection for his old friend???

Thinking back to my stick figure test for fictional characters, Gus would have a good mix of positive, neutral, and negative traits despite his portrayal as a villain. It might seem contradictory to give positive traits to a character we’re meant to root against (or at least feel ambivalent toward), but what matters is how often the story shows us the positive traits vs. the negative ones. Gus is a terrible person, but at the end of the day, he’s still a human being. That’s the kind of multifaceted exploration we get when a show’s writers extend a bit of empathy toward even their most corrupt characters.

So what are Stella’s personality traits, exactly?

She’s elitist based on her outrage at Stolas sleeping with an imp...She’s loud, she’s inconsiderate, she’s vengeful, she’s kind of sadistic (”I enjoy tormenting you!”)... That’s about it. 

There’s no empathy here. There’s no (for lack of a better term) humanity here. No positive traits. No life outside of Stolas or Octavia. At this point she’s barely even a character; just a mean-looking puppet for an audience of children to boo and hiss at. (Never thought a Family Guy clip would be appropriate here, but...)

Like I’ve said before, the entire second half of Helluva 201 was pro-Stolas, anti-Stella propaganda. Not a great sign when storytelling takes a back seat to obvious favoritism. Yes, writers will naturally manipulate their audience’s emotions and opinions toward characters to some degree, but the good ones don’t show their hands.

Anyway, I hear a new episode’s out. Haven’t seen it yet, but I hope to God the writing is more subtle than it was in the last one.

hey guys

this shit is called “speed hooks” and they can be installed in just about any standard boot eyelet. they just make it faster to lace your boots. id personally recommend them bc normal boot eyelets can get a little bit annoying to thread them through every single time, however they can mess w ur aesthetic if ur doing sumn like ladder laces. you can get them installed at just about any boot store iirc but i got mine installed at red wings when i got them

if u have real leather boots u need to take care of them. im not trying to sound real elitist or nothing, but just using at least 1 leather conditioner regularly will keep ur boots from drying out. good boots can last decades, but theyll only last decades if u keep them from drying out

also on the topic of taking care of ur boots u need to disinfect them. this goes for all ur shoes. u can find shoe specific disinfectants but honestly u can probably just go with any general disinfectant

when ur buying new boots u want them to fit a bit tighter than u want them to fit in day to day wear. as u wear ur boots theyre gonna stretch out, so if you get already loose fitting boots in the first place theyre gonna be too big for day to day wear

first of all, it makes sense that they wouldn’t get certifications for the much older songs that they’re not interested in promoting, i get that part. but when you have it all laid out like this its just obvious that there’s no excuse and they didn’t have any interest in acknowledging him.

the 7 certification came just in time to push his album release and the grammy push and yet, that flopped.

jimin is the ONLY member to have literally every main solo song (Lie, Serendipity, Filter, and now Like Crazy) to qualify. It’s established that he sells in the US and each of his songs is great in both quality and overall appeal. so why not make more of an investment in him.

there’s at least three possible scenarios i can think of:

1- this is all part of the plan

sometimes, the cynic in me wonders if they forced him into an underdog role bc that’s the brand they felt would sell for him. the members themselves have spoken about the concepts they were given pre-debut. i remember jin talking about how he was meant to be a cold serious type of guy but eventually that just didn’t work for him and he became the handsome and confident but goofy one. we can assume it was the same way for others.

at first, jimin was the “ladykiller” type with the ab flashing antics and then he became the sweet, kind, charismatic but “self-conscious” guy most of us became extremely attached to. he already had the “hard-work genius” title (🥴) that has been pushed for ages so it would make sense for the underdog-that-thrives-against-all-odds narrative to be the next step.

bc jimin has always performed strongly in the us they knew he wouldn’t flop no matter what and fans would feel incentivized by the “mistreatment” narrative so they would work even harder for him.

much like with bts, there was always a social-justice-oriented motivator for how hard armys worked since BTS had been treated like shit by racist/xenophobic/homophobic/elitist people in both the domestic and Western industries. meanwhile, the only real competition bts ever had was a group of attractive but averagely talented individuals who got all their material, promotions, and mediaplay handed to them on a silver platter. this only motivated armys that much more to work hard for the ones that actually do the work and “deserve” it.

does that sound similar to a certain someone? do you see where i’m going with this?

i could write an entire essay on the parallels i see here but i’ll leave it there for now.

2- the company really only cares about jk

another scenario is the worst case scenario pjms have been talking about all year. the company has a one-track mind of who they’re trying to push and they know the other members will follow even if theyre mistreated by the company bc they simply won’t do that well elsewhere or by themselves.

3- for some reason, they see Jimin as a liability so = not worth investment

something we don’t often talk about (because we don’t know much about it) is the topic of sponsors. jimin must have some but we don’t really have a clue as to who they are. for th (and probably jk) it’s obvious that that paradise hotel group family sponsors him. i don’t doubt that’s one of the reasons why he made such a big deal over those dating rumors. dating the daughter of the people funding your career sounds a tad bit icky if you ask me. now we now it was also bc he was actually dating a friend of the daughter’s (who also appears to be sponsored by them 😶) but i digress.

***this next part is purely gossip based on my observations and is 0% grounded on any legitimate information. ***

i suspect that jimin had pretty big sponsors circa 2019 while jk didn’t and now it is the opposite. when the whole paris clubbing scandal dropped even though the videos were everywhere on stan twt barely any korean media picked up on it. on the other hand, when the jk scandal triad happened (tattoo girl, car accident, and mid-covid itaewon outing) that shit was everywhere and he got dogged on real bad by knetz. it’s possible that jimin just got lucky that it coincided with jk’s scandals and got off scot-free (outside of stan twitter). in contrast, when jimin had the whole insurance payment evasion/stolen mail debacle that got covered extensively in k-circles even if stan twt didn’t gaf about it. now we know after face era was jimin was struggling around that time which inspired his songs and then he decided to “get his head straight on”. since that time period, which was the first half of 2022, he’s almost become ultra conservative with his image. i suspect the company took the blame for the insurance thing even though it was on him and that that was his wake-up call that he wasn’t doing well mentally.

if jimin, like the rest of hyung line, doesn’t have sponsors that are that influential anymore then maybe more of the brunt of funding his solo debut relied on the company and they decided to be conservative about it in case it was a risk at any point.

Is a very different approach to the situation I've never heard anyone analysing the situation like that it is very different and baby armies and them stupid ass ot7s would eat that one up.

But I think we all agree it's two. I'm trying my best not to post about Hybe because the festive season is here and I don't want nothing and nobody to ruin my spirit.
