see now me personally ... id love to hear all of your thoughts about mdk and v1. i love thoughts abt media i looove when ppl ramble

my v1mdk discussion and justification is a wild, crumbled maze of "layers" of insane ramblings about humanity in ultrakill and skeletons and robots and the character's specific roles in the narrative, none of which properly connect to anything, none of which mean anything, and none of which make too much sense because im not the greatest at analysis and attempting to explain things, and on top of this is a very simple conclusion of "wouldnt it just be nice if love could still quietly exist even in the worst pits of hell, even if it was just briefly. and wouldnt it be really fucking funny if it was with mysterious druid knight"

#my real answer is i wanted to do a comic about my feelings of it one day with my 6 layers of meta commentary or whatever but #the last layer is an understanding that it doesnt need 5 pages of explaining and justification to mean something #and that it can just exist as it is and be worth something as it is #so i feel making a comic explaining might miss the point #or maybe it wouldnt. who knows #idk. i am not a smart man. dont listen to me :P #vm.txt

for as much as i enjoy the lore about the sundering and shards and all that, it has absolutely poisoned character discussions of any kind across all of ffxiv

the sheer number of absolutely braindead "x is a shard of y" takes ive been forced to endure. like y'all. characters can be similar, have similar arcs, even serve similar roles in the plot without being literal fragments of the same soul

#rambles #ffxiv liveblogging #its terminal game theory brain #desperately seeking lore connections that arent there just for the sake of being the one to 'figure it out'#like. obviously nobody but the writers can *disprove* such theories either #but what would be the point?#we know the original souls of precisely three people and we know those three for very specific plot reasons #what would be the point of making anyone else a shard of someone we know when it doesnt serve the plot?#you can make a point about a character via a character foil without them needing to be *literally* the same person for the point to land #i mean. ultimately such theories are harmless. but man they annoy me lmao #because they get in the way of far more interesting discussion #it literally doesnt matter if x is a shard of y- we can still recognize y is meant to resemble x but differ in specific meaningful ways #and then from there consider what commentary the game is making about x by reflecting them in y
