I just finished watching the new tpot episode and ouhhggggghhhhhh I have thinks and thoughts

Massive spoilers ahead, this is kinda a full episode review atp, I ramble a lot

First off I really liked One's area, it's super pretty and mystical but somehow feels sinister in a way? Like it's a little too dark to be fully whimsical and fun and mystical without a sinister hint to it.

This kinda also pulls towards my thoughts on One themself. I think they're pulling a cutesy coverup to something evil. I do not trust this number at all. And I pray this doesn't lead to her getting all these contestants eliminated because I am personally biased and will cry the day Fanny gets the boot.

Similarly, I'm really glad to have this storyline start going off. I really wonder what One wants from these characters. Are they as sinister as I am suspecting? I feel like One is moreso a Deal with the Devil type character and I don't think they're actually good friends with Two. I think that's a lie.

The characters themselves that are chosen are also really interesting picks. Fanny, Ice Cube, Basketball, Bell, and Bomby. It's kind of "what do these characters have in common?" I suppose it's they all needed something? Not entirely sure on that though, I mean yeah they probably do. A mouth, legs, help with Robot Flower maybe? An escape from being eliminated? It gets harder with those three to decide what they could get from One to be a part of their scheme.

At least I'll get to hopefully see more Bomby despite his elimination :3

Moving on, I really like the new teams. I think again Death PACT Yet Again is gonna be my favourite but the other teams are super fun as well. Truly devastating news that Golf Ball and Tennis Ball got separated. I fear neither have long left because of this. But on the off chance they do last, I'd like to see how they develop apart.

The challenge felt a little uninteresting but I think it was much more of a catalyst for figuring out team dynamics rather than be a focal point. Still pretty decent and a good finish to it. I personally love that Robot Flower ended up with Death PACT Yet Again.

Also really looking forward to one of the original exitors joining! I feel some of them were vastly underutilised in previous seasons and some got the boot just before getting interesting, pretty namely Dora and Liy come to mind. I voted for Dora because I'd like to see where she's going and what she'd do on TPOT. I think another interesting option would be Match. As much as I dislike her, I think she also has a lot of potential. Maybe a respark in her rivalry with Fanny, I think it would be interesting despite Bubble not being there. Maybe she would also serve as some motivation for Book to try and become better friends with Ice Cube before Match regains her trust.

Speaking of Bubble, I think I'd like to know what the BFB characters are doing. I don't think I'd like them to join the cast/show fully but maybe a check in? We already got Tear Drop in TPOT so none of them could join the show, but it would be interesting to see how they are.

I think in the future as far as theories I have go, I think One is going after either Golf Ball or Tennis Ball next. They're apart and need something and make pretty good targets. Although if it's a 1 per team deal I would also think Donut would be a good choice. He does have his arms missing but also I think he's been the most misused imo. He had a lot of potential on the pre split that I think wasn't utilised, especially with having Four's powers. I think this could be just what he needs.

As for further theories with One, I think they're definitely the weakest of the Algebraliens. Maybe their motivation is having all of these chosen champions and their "favour" is them giving One Twos power at the end of it. That's what I have so far, I mean I haven't seen enough to know 100% and I don't think that would be the case but that's my best theory.

bonus headcanon/relationship study ramble since the brainrot is eating away still and bc i do really enjoy their dynamic

some general + canon of vengeance koshimizu hcs and relationship with the protag hcs ahead.

this does contain massive af spoilers for smtvv and can be potentially triggering since death and depression mentions.

-koshimizu has a dad bod sorry not sorry.

-in fact he’s a total goddamn dad. literally old fashioned. he also enjoys watching baseball and yes can work a grill.

-there’s a bethel japan facebook group (he didn’t start it one of the scientists did and made him create a facebook account) so yes he’s had the displeasure of boomer meme exposure. abdiel won’t stop sharing those ai generated jesus pics either.

-his luck with relationships is so bad. let’s ignore the whole in actual japanese mythology tsukuyomi got married to amaterasu (aka his damn sister) thing. he only pursued one due to seeing humans do that, and since he does have a lot of kinship with humanity, yeah he’s gonna mimic behavior. did hook up with abdiel out of some kind of obligation but had no actual romantic feelings. it was the worst year and a half of his life. they can’t stand one another.

-one of many hcs i displayed in a fic i wrote but basically he met yuzuru via the fact that he constantly had to take miyazu to the nearest hospital. he might’ve not allowed it except he did notice some kind of connection. didn’t realize yuzuru was his knowledge until much later yet tried his hardest to keep him out of the demon summoning business. didn’t work obviously, yet he appreciated yuzuru’s enthusiasm. does treat both atsuta siblings like family and adoption was something he thought about, but due to his position, work, etc., it never came to be.

-is overworked to hell and back. seems to be the last of the logistics type proto fiends anyways so yeah has a lot of pressure put on him. despite being the prime minister, he doesn’t actually do a lot of that stuff. mostly up to proper politicians. he’s kinda like a mouthpiece for them since he was made to be that way. is responsible for anything revolving around public safety. has and always will be his top priority.

-his relationship with vkun is absurdly rocky. it’s more than the whole different souls thing or the fact that they haven’t properly worked with one another. they struggle to communicate and function as a nahobino and he does blame himself for it. they’re doing it out of necessity. really if it were up to him especially after losing yuzuru he would’ve never partnered up with vkun. however, thanks to aogami, he does feel like he owes it to his brother to take care of him.

-it’s weird knowing he has basically a second brother nor fully knows how sibling relations work. yes, he cares deeply and does have that brotherly connection with vkun, but they can’t find common ground outside of wanting to avenge their original partners, and he’s sure that’s not something they should be bonding over (or he should be encouraging). he wants to comfort vkun, but doesn’t know how to. he’s made attempts, but can’t fully follow through with what he thinks he should be doing.

-i did notice (and might make a more in depth post about) how, while not the dominant one, koshimizu does occasionally take over more. for how i see it, due to studies done on aogami and vkun’s nahobino form, he thinks it best to let vkun be in control since it’s more familiar to him. combat types hadn’t had success with fusion, nor have any for that matter, but they were made with being an extension in mind. as such, while inherently compatible with vkun, his different functions plus vkun not being his knowledge makes their form unstable.

-has plenty of regrets, including his relationship with aogami. they already were distant in design and where they ended up, but i do think he felt like he was, in some ways, superior due to how he adopted human emotions and culture while aogami hadn’t. it wasn’t until the battle for the throne or aogami’s “death” that he realized how much he cared.

-while he does state mourning won’t bring his or vkun’s partner back, he does experience grief, but bottles his emotions up as much as possible. part of it is because he always had to once he first developed feelings. he’s still a demon/machine thing and as such believes he shouldn’t have them, especially since he was made with potentially dying in mind. though, this is also because he wants to stay strong for vkun, especially with how badly vkun takes it. koshimizu is a lot more calm and capable than his new partner. he knows that. all he can do is try to provide some support.

-that being said the one thing he did do was make a small grave for yuzuru exactly where he passed on. there was a chance it could be destroyed, there was no body left behind, etc., yet he did think it to be the right thing to do.

-had no idea how to tell miyazu. in fact, he wanted to avoid telling her altogether. with the end of the world coming up, he’d rather not give her more emotional baggage, plus it likely wouldn’t have mattered. word spreads quickly so she learned about her brother’s passing anyways. all the things she accused koshimizu of doing in that missable subquest? he took those to heart. even though he knew none of it was true, he still felt guilty.

-the other unstable part about the tsukuyomibino? one of them supposedly hates the other. vkun thinks his presence is an insult. they look too damn familiar, and koshimizu instinctively calls him “young man.” only aogami can call him that—he’s adamant about it. doesn’t like the idea of sharing a body with him, either. he wasn’t even going to take the throne, rather leaving it up to goddess tao and possibly goddess yoko to decide. both his and koshimizu’s plan was to take down tiamat and whatever else remained of the qadištu.

-whatever happens after that? vkun feels like he might as well die. his mental health declining rapidly was something koshimizu noticed right away and tried working with him on. they did end up bonding more through this. vkun says he hates him, but in reality, he truly doesn’t, and regrets giving koshimizu the cold shoulder. he did want to apologize and thank him, but after realizing he’d never get the chance to, he at least decided to visit any tsukuyomi-related shrines to properly mourn/pray for him (though this is only for the law route, in chaos, he more ends up writing poems n letters in his memory). of course koshimizu understands his frustration. if there’s an afterlife he’s in, he does wish he could tell him that it’s okay.

-their form’s stability improved over time but this couldn’t be said for koshimizu’s ability to fight. he wasn’t made for it nor has had any real combat experience. some dialogue from one of the researchers suggests that it is taking a toll on him. he was going to die one way or another and accepted his fate long ago. didn’t make pushing himself any less torturous.

hey i have no idea how dex works n you seem to be a huge enthusiast of their character so can u like.. yap about dexters personality a bit (/nf!!). im trying to work out their personality but im really confused on how to characterize them. so far, ive got some little bullet points. for a little headcanon or whatever ? i think they'd have huge interests that would be seen as a little odd, like, taxidermy or something. theyre like, a freak. (/pos)

also, i think itd have to do more research on with aspd since dex does have thatttt. uuuhm. oh yeah, a good note is that theyre not like. "Evil!! grah!! i kill people because im EVIL" cuz thats not them. they struggle with their emotions, morals, and needs. which i think also goes into the possibility of really bad intrusive thoughts perhaps.

like. they seem to have some of their morality intact (as they dont attack skid n pump immediately) before slowly spiraling and trying to hurt anyone they come across. dex also focuses on animals specifically because they dont believe that they dont feel emotion. they try to justify their behavior through beliefs and desperation to satisfy their persistent thoughts. they also run off the thrill of others pain. and i dont think theyre exactlyyy.. oblivious to the fact that this is a really bad problem, but more that they use being an exterminator to filter their needs into a.. "safer" (and in all honesty, an easier) way.

sorry for the whole ramble, but thats really all i can get so far with their character. also so sorry if this question is weird, but id just like a little input or ur idea of their character lol. no pressure tho ^_^

dont apologise i LOVE talking about dexter it Is really tricky to completely understand him kinda because of how all over the place all the things we have about him are . i was actually thinking earlier about how if sm got like adapted to a show like what happened with dhmis/ maybe we could see more of dexter and understand him better . i think ive talked about this before but i absolutely think theres kind of a thing where people see dexter as WAY more outwardly chaotic than he really is just bc well that’s like 95% of his screentime . how i really think he is is he Can get really easily excited and restless and with a lot of people it’ll drive them away (one of the characters i like to think has this dynamic with him is radford i dont know why i like the thought so much but i do) but he really is just like. hes a sweetheart he loves to draw and make stuff and hes just very smiley and laughs a lot . he isnt afraid to put himself out but he can also get like grumpy and snappy when hes paranoid Thats another thing. ive noticed in pelo’s doodles that sometimes hes portrayed complaining or just like with an irritated expression . i think while he Is a very happy go lucky type character it’s not difficult at all for him to get like . hostile for lack of better word? just annoyed at other people for something that could be really little or unintentional. i have no real point to this this probably will not help you much at all i apologise but the thing is i kinda think there’s No wrong way you can go with dexter in any way. he is such a good character that every aspect of him never feels tired or boring or really wrong to me

But uhh tldr kinda . maybe try to like nail it in that he’s just trying his best. for me thats a really big part of his character just the fact that despite everything that could potentially hold him back he always keeps his head up and just tries to do whatever he can and thats what the focus of his character would be if he wasn’t in a story that had his role revolve around his death. i hope this helps in Some way thank u very much for asking

Hey, I was wondering what made you like Mallerollo?

Sure thing, I can explain! There'll be spoilers if you haven't read the event in full, but I can't really get into the nitty gritty without spoilers, so… get ready for rambling.

I was hooked from the first time Rollo screamed "Malleus Draconiaaaa!" in the prologue to the event.

Malleus is isolated as a character aside from people in Diasomnia, but their relationships with Malleus have always felt very familial to me and I can't ship any of them with him. I can't really picture him in a relationship with anyone in NRC, either. He just floats about, helping people sometimes, bullying people other times, but he's not super close to them. I have no interest in Yuu, shipping canon characters with OCs, or self-inserting, so that's also out for me. Leona and Malleus are probably the closest in terms of relationship dynamics that I like, but any 'feelings' (mainly negative) seem strong on Leona's side, but not on Malleus' side. It's too unbalanced for me.

So, when Rollo was announced, I thought that he would be a great opportunity for not only a Malleus ship, but to also present Malleus with someone who would antagonize him. And that's exactly what he did.

When Rollo finally deploys his plan, Malleus gets super pissed and yells, "I'll never forgive you, Rollo Flamme!!!" and that got me doubly on board. Rollo had tricked/outsmarted him. He didn't win in the end, but he had triumphed over Malleus more than any other human. That's pretty big considering I don't remember Leona's plan impacting Malleus at all. The event really improved Malleus' character in my mind since we got to see him struggle a little. He couldn't solve the problem with another show of overwhelming strength.

With Rollo, it seems like he was created with Malleus in mind. He hates magic, thereby making him conflict with Malleus. He invited Malleus to the event, he's old-timey, he has a connection to gargoyles (something Malleus has to be wildly jealous about), and he's a genuine threat. He made Malleus feel fear! With all this, of course Malleus is going to be curious about him. So, Malleus has strong feelings about Rollo and obviously Rollo fucking hates him at minimum, so there's intensity on both sides.

At the same time, Rollo's kinda more isolated than Malleus is, but by choice. People gravitate to Rollo and he spurns them. People avoid Malleus even though he would like to make a friend or two. Just an interesting contrast between them.

Another thing, Toboso knows what she's doing. She didn't have them dance together and promise to rendezvous beneath the bell just because. Obviously nothing will ever be canon, but come on. I legit could not believe they actually danced and talked for so long tbh, that is some crazy ship bait.

Malleus is an insanely powerful fae. Rollo is a cunning human with immense willpower. I think they bounce off each other really well and could make each other better, if given the chance. Malleus almost is magic in a sense--if the relationship developed to a certain point, I think he could ease Rollo's guilt regarding his brother and help him get over his hang-ups about magic. Rollo would act as someone who challenges Malleus (which he sorely needs, he is way too coddled) and maybe he could help him develop some empathy.

But them being toxic with each other is fun, too… Malleus is really fucking good at being toxic and I like exploring that side of things.

There are a lot possibilities for pining, for jealousy, for angst, for development, and just... all sorts of things.

Basically, I think both characters bring out what's interesting in the other and, as a pairing, have a fantastic potential for either growth or festering in toxicity. They also fit into tropes I like (lifespan differences, royal problems, lots of magic, enemies to lovers, etc...)

OFMD Critique: the Handling of Female Characters, "Girlbosses," and Dropped Polyamory in Season 2 (aka Why the HELL did you give Zheng Yi Sao that ending?)

For this one, I kind of just want to gesture at the ending of 2x7 and the entirety of 2x8 and scream at the top of my lungs, "What the FUCK was that SHIT?"

But I already did that when the finale itself came out, so instead I'm going to stay calm and give a genuine critique (though still as rambly as always).

The handling of this show's women is...questionable. I think the only woman that was handled 100% well is Mary in Season 1. No real notes there. I love her and how her storyline is written to bits.

But in season 2, all 3 major women characters (Archie, Zheng Yi Sao, and Spanish Jackie) have their storylines hamstrung by romantic plot lines.

In Archie's case, the romance plot works. Not every character needs to have a subplot. The bits that flesh out her character are well integrated into the story, whether that be her first kiss with Jim directly leading into the fighting to the death plotline/Jim finally standing up to Blackbeard or the lines "you have hope, it's cute," "this is just kinda how things work," and "they just kind of get away with it, you know" (though it still pisses me off that that last one goes unchallenged in the narrative) being used for plot progression, or are fun character details, such as all of the snake cult hints. (Do I wish that the poly aspect of her, Jim, and Olu's dynamic was better executed so that I didn't feel like the tealoranges plot was yanked out from under my feet? Yes. Of course.)

But as for Zheng Yi Sao?

The treatment of this character makes my blood boil.

See, I'm not opposed to her having a romantic plotline. In fact, I think it could have been fun. A woman can have romance and power. 2x7 even looked like it was building to that sort of conclusion, with Jim, Olu, and Archie joining her crew in one of the very few actual canon implications of poly (though no confirmation, sadly- have y'all seen the info about the deleted scenes that could have confirmed it? I can't believe so much ended up on the cutting room floor.) But then the end of 2x7 strips all power from Zheng Yi Sao.

The show pulled one of the most powerful pirates and most accomplished women in history (also a woman of color, btw, a fact which only doubles the weird fucking undertones of her treatment as a character) into the show only to strip her of her power, shove her into a romantic plot line on a ship where she isn't even a captain, and expected me not to pick up on ANY of the fucked up optics of the writing? The fact that we end the season with Zheng and Spanish Jackie both losing their power as pirate queens in exchange for setting them on a ship with only one singular boyfriend grinds my fucking gears, man.

There are ways to give Zheng a romantic plotline without it making her an idiot (ala what happens with Olu in 2x3) or making her lose all of her power (ala the finale). Jackie's case is less infuriating, but it does remind me of the fact that a lot of the casual poly/open relationship rep from the first season got stripped from the second season (and before you come at me with the Zheng/Olu/Archie/Jim storyline, look me in the eye and cite to me any concrete canon evidence we have of it. I ADORE the fanfic as much as the next person, but I mourn the lost potential every day. Check my previous tealoranges meta for that- I might write a long version of it sometime). Lucius and Pete lost all their open relationship implications and Jackie's husbands are dropped from the finale in favor of her running off with the only one who gets a name.

I understand that they probably wrote Zheng Yi Sao this way to show Stede's growth as a Captain by showing that he brings more flexible ideas to the table (which, by the way, is completely undermined by the fact that his plan actively kills Izzy in the process), but they really should have thought through the...everything in regards to the implications of writing Zheng Yi Sao this way. Because if you bring in one of the only female characters with speaking lines onto this show, a Chinese woman at that, make romance actively make her stupid, have her be fooled by a white man (who, by the way, kills THOUSANDS of unnamed women off-page in explosions and it's just kind of treated as a plot point for the whole Zheng/Auntie/Stede/Izzy/Ed comparison which gives me the ick), strip her of her fleet and her power, and then have the GALL to not even make her the Captain of the Revenge at the end of it all? I'm not sure I trust you to handle her legacy, much less write women in general.

TLDR; Writing a very queer show does not resolve you of sexism.

I don’t know if it’s just because I’m aroace myself or because it’s the effect your writing has on me but stsg x aroace reader has been on my mind NONSTOP 😭 what have you done to me. This is literally just my idea and take on it feel free to ignore my silly little ramble I’m actually insane <33

I feel like dynamics where there’s some obstruction of sorts from it being just a regular happy healthy relationship is my fav ever because. It means there’s so much more yearning and pining involved and it’s so much more emotional I LOVE ITTTAUGHH and aroace spec reader is a great example of that. I feel like the main kinda reasoning (“obstruction”) would be how reader views the relationship they have with stsg and how they feel about it, the way it’s supposed to be just a regular platonic friendship but there’s so much unaddressed care and deep rooted love (that maybe reader doesn’t want to address) and it’s just a confusing mess of emotions. Reader being hesitant to accept that maybe it’s more than just a friendship because they aren’t 100% sure what those complex feelings that undoubtedly come with being ‘friends’ with stsg are. AND aside from aroace reader, a reader with intimacy/trust/abandonment issues or trauma that hasn’t been unpacked (take your pick!!) while it is the same kinda theme (basically just reader’s hesitance to have to face and attempt to understand their own emotions) it’s just. AUGH!! It’s such a yummy idea to me there are so many scenarios. Maybe reader just doesn’t want to be helped or is too untrusting/scared to open themselves up and be vulnerable with people again, is kinda introverted maybe, just generally like. Lost. almost as if they don’t really have a place anywhere? They don’t feel particularly special and they’re just painfully conscious of their own negative emotions + their own loneliness?? Are you seeing what I’m seeing. The type of person that could be in a room full of people and still not feel any less alone. In a way they’re a lot like sugu!!! OHHH HOW IT WOULD BREAK SUGUS HEART I ALREADY HAVE A VISION!!!! Him seeing himself in reader. Dear lord. The understanding that bond would create and him slowly coaxing reader into becoming more emotionally open because he gets it, sugu is so special because there’s an unspoken understanding between him and reader that they’re kindred spirits. as I’m writing this I am literally imagining reader and sugu sitting by the sea late at night. The sea is where lost doomed people that are overwhelmed by their own grief belong!!!! Can you hear my heart shattering and can you tell how much I love angst 😇😇😇 takes a deep sigh and leans back in my expensive chair as I dramatically overlook the city below me. Another day of being a stsg fan forcing everyone else to suffer with me because nobody in the jjk fandom will ever feel joy again

but okok let’s get into this I’M OVERJOYED THAT YOU’RE INTO AROACE!READER/STSG BTW I THINK IT’S SUCH A TASTY CONCEPT ….. from one aspec to another i am equally insane abt them i just. think there’s so much potential there…..

some of the things i love writing about most are 1) the blurry lines between platonic/romantic love (one of my gojo fics was actually written w a qp relationship in mind :33) and 2) the difficult parts of love/the fear of intimacy in general… it’s something i like exploring because it’s interesting + i don’t see it in fanfic often and. idk!! i just think it’s important to me that i depict a kind of love that’s very tender and healing and careful. especially since i literally only write for characters who have intimacy issues themselves LMAO

LITERALLY THIS you put it so perfectly ollie.. T_T love with obstructions is alwaysss most interesting to me …. AND I AGREE!! if i ever end up writing this fic the focus will definitely be on reader and how they view love!! being on the spectrum is genuinely so isolating sometimes and i feel like that’s comparable to the kind of isolation stsg carry with them :’3 none of you can fully understand the others’ individual hardships but with a lot of understanding and respect i think it would go well.

… honestly i hc both gojo and geto as being on the spectrum themselves LMAO but maybe i’ll avoid those hcs to make the fic more interesting 😭😭 ace demiromantic gojo + demisexual sugu are soooo real to me they’re my pookies <333

OLLIE I SWEAR WE’RE CONNECTED THROUGH THE AROACE HIVEMIND BC THIS WAS EXACTLY MY THOUGHT PROCESS TOO 😭😭😭 it’s just such a tasty scenario because i feel like stsg would be in denial about their feelings at first, but then (once they’ve come to terms with it!!) approach reader immediately… i kinda pictured it as stsg already being a couple, and then confessing to reader with the hope of them joining their relationship……… and it’s so difficult because reader doesn’t really know where their feeling lies between platonic and romantic, don’t really care about the specifics, they just know that they love them and cherish them but now they feel pressured to put a label on it and i think that would just make them panic.

and it’s not at all intentional on stsg’s side !!! they’re half expecting reader to reject them, but they’re just so sincere and tender about the confession. and i think that they just won’t be able to understand reader’s feelings even when they try to explain it :’3 because reader does like them. love them. but they don’t know if it’s romantic, and they don’t really want to know. and even if they knew for sure, they might not care for a standard relationship anyway!! it would just take a lot of understanding and support from stsg to even have that conversation without reader running away, but i think they’re both so gentle when it comes to you :(( they’re always willing to hear you out, and even if they don’t understand all the aspects of being aroace, that doesn’t mean they won’t support it.

…. tbh i’m not entirely sure how it’d work out 😭😭 i think it’d have to be kind of vague but i can picture the three of them living together, going grocery shopping and cuddling and whatnot, and there aren’t really any labels there. not for reader anyway. but they all love each other and that’s enough <33

i love how we both started ranting LMAO this concept just means a lot to me so i can’t help but ramble a bit T_T BUT BUT BUTTTTT we still need to talk abt stsg with a reader that has intimacy issues/unpacked trauma… ollie literally every single part of ur ask made me feel insane in the head this is another concept that means a lot to me and i’m SOOO excited that i get to talk abt it with you!!!! :’3 i think i’ve already said this plenty of times but i’ll die on this hill: stsg would be PERFECT for this kind of reader. so loyal and understanding and accepting. they’d be so, so patient because both of them really only care about your happiness!! that’s all!!!!

and tbh i feel like no matter what kind of issues reader has specifically, it all boils down to them having difficulties with vulnerability!! showing it and seeing it and just embracing it as something important and healing. AND that’s perfect for stsg because they’re literally the same LMAO…. and in this case i think that would benefit the relationship as a whole!! it’ll be bumpy at first because i feel like all three of you would encourage the other two to open up, express themselves etc — but then not return that vulnerability. and that just wouldn’t work out!! and i think that would force you to open up, if only so your partners will do the same. same for stsg!! and it’s just soooo tender and raw :(((( but so important!!

i can honestly imagine suguru having the most trouble opening up, even though he’ll be the most insistant that you and satoru do so 😭😭 he’s a big ol hypocrite is what i’m saying. but i can see him dipping his toes into that vulnerability for you, because he knows you won’t get anywhere otherwise and he wants to be a good example for you to follow. it’d make things so much easier for reader because they aren’t the only one who’s having difficulties !! it’s all three of you!! you’re all learning and growing and loving each other so delicately :’3

now on the topic of sugu….

OHHH HOW IT WOULD BREAK SUGUS HEART I ALREADY HAVE A VISION!!!! Him seeing himself in reader. Dear lord. The understanding that bond would create and him slowly coaxing reader into becoming more emotionally open because he gets it, sugu is so special because there’s an unspoken understanding between him and reader that they’re kindred spirits.

THIS THIS THISSSSS OLLIE OUR BRAINS ARE HOLDING HANDS YOU GET IT YOU GET ITTT this is SUCH a great scenario AND IT’S SO REAL TOO… i think sugu would be the mvp in helping reader (NO DISRESPECT TO SATORU i think he would be vital in other ways!!) because like you said!! they’re the same. there’s something so soft and tender in that dynamic :’3 them talking by the sea… about their own loneliness and difficult pasts……. i 100% hc sugu as having had a rough childhood so if reader also did it’d just strenghten their connection even further. i think that what suguru needs more than anything else is understanding, so to receive that from reader, while also being able to give it in return……. yeahhhh. he’s whipped. you’d be talking by the sea looking up at the stars and he would already be thinking of marriage LMAO he’s such a sap to me 😭😭😭 he just has this moment when he realizes that he wants to Protect You Forever and it’s so special to him. he’s your pillar and you’re his anchor. what is DNACE $ it intrigues me….

ok well dnace $ is. titled that because I made the doc while having a bit of a Moment and was too excited to turn off capslock while typing the title so it ended up as DNACE $ rather than "dance 4" and this was just funny to me so I left it.

as for why 4: well I mentioned in the tags of the post that dancefic has been a running Thing for me so. well. allow me to go into detail. general context is that I, irl, do ballroom dance, and enjoy being normal about it. so naturally I spin characters in my brain about it as well

original dancefic wasn't even qsmp, it was jmart when I'd just started taking dance lessons and was still into TMA, but. well you can guess what happened (it never got finished)

dancefic 1: back in may of last year people on qsmp had been using "bailar" as a codeword for "talk to sofia" so they could talk about it in chat without alerting the feds. which produced these two posts on tumblr user bigboobyhalo's blog (x) (x) and also this art by pppuri. and that had me go HUH. DANCE. You Know What I Can Do. and I started writing about cellbit and bbh having to put on a tango performance. and it was kind of epic and I put SO much work into it. like I had planned out an entire choreography and everything it was a lot of fun. but also halfway through the actual writing art I ended up losing confidence because I felt like it wasn't really interesting to read and didn't know how to fix that. so I scrapped it however tbh! rereading it for this ask it is not bad! like I still see what I felt the issues were but it's kinda fun ngl. there's early spiderbit. jaiden is here. kind of a vibe

dancefic 2: this doc is literally nothing it just says "slow waltz... wedding dance......" but. well it is about spiderbit. you understand. the thought is there

dancefic 3: also literally just bullet points but it was jaiden and roier. alas. the platonic silliness potential of ballroom dance is so very underrated I think

dancefic 4: for this one I was having a Moment in codes's dms about fitpac ballroom dancing. because I think there are some beautiful things that you can do with the leader/follower dynamic and the fact that who does which is not related to who is the more experienced dancer. and. ok well the ask game says post snippets I will just copypaste what the doc says (which iirc I also just copypasted from what I'd said to codes at the time)

fit feeling horribly awkward and out of place as pac teaches him some simple steps... i can't decide which of them leading i like more... like pac leading fit is great because big buff guy being the follower is really good (i typically do leading steps and have led people bigger (as in taller & wider) and also less confident in their dance abilities than me and it's SO FUN it makes me feel very silly. in a good way. i am just rambling and projecting now. anyway) and also pac would be more likely to know how to dance so he'd be the more confident one and be able to teach fit the steps HOWEVER i also really like fit leading because like. again he wouldn't know what he's doing. and pac dancing the follower's steps but still kind of leading anyway because he's still the one instigating all the motions and like guiding fit into how to lead him around is REALLY GOOD whagwuahghs (i have also done this it's a lot of fun)

like. you understand. you understand. yes. but. well I have also not actually written any of this it is just a Concept In My Brain but. yeag

Musing, rambling a bit here about The Batman (2022), I kinda don't get the take that the last phase of the Riddler's plan was out of character or out of line or too disconnected to the build-up. Or, like, that it's a case of a villain making good points and then having to do something absurdly evil as a cheap way to make them morally gray/more villainous.

To me there's a very clear sense of escalation in the plan itself and it represents the logical thematic endpoint of the Batman's approach to vigilantism before he met Selina/Catwoman and started to realize, oh, he doesn't have it all figured out, actually.

Batman's original approach to vigilantism is what inspired the Riddler - Beat up [harm, enact violence on, etc] the Bad Guys, and then just kinda...leave anyone else to their own devices. We don't see a lot of Batman, like, aiding people, really. Just a lot of beating people up. It's how we open then movie. At that point in time, he only sees Bad People and Potential Bad People. He only starts to reconsider his preconceived notions when Selina calls him on his shit for it and stands up for Annika as an innocent person who, due to the city's corruption, no one else will ever stand up for. Before that, he's not looking for innocence, looking out for victims. Vengeance isn't about the Innocent, it's about getting your anger out.

Edward Nashton takes the idea of Vengeance and idolizes it, puts it on a pedestal. Consider: The Batman himself is very disconnected from regular ol' people in Gotham, with his outfit and the way he swoops in and out of places undetected. We, as an audience, get to see the Batman stumble and work his way through things, but to anyone else this guy might as well be a myth or something, y'know? Batman is terrifying at this point in time but also, undeniably mysterious and cool. A figure, more than a reachable, fallible human being.

Combine that with the fact that the Batman's approach gets results. Specifically, 'results' here meaning the Bad Guys get brutalized. That is what Edward wants, that is what he thinks is right. Violence and coldness is all he knows and all he expects from life. And he wants to be Batman. He wants to be the one dispensing Vengeance (for himself) upon the ones who've wronged him. Thus, Vengeance idolized turns into Justice.

I have...A lot more to get into with this but this got Quite long so I'm putting it under a read more. Read below for some lengthy thoughts on Edward, Selina, and Batman's characters and how their stories work and make sense to me.

The Riddler as we see him in the movie is very self-centered. I mean that in a descriptive, morally neutral way, btw. Rather, his self-centeredness loops in on itself and warps his perceptions, leaving him so deep and entangled in a hole of his own pain and misery he cannot see past it anymore. He wraps up his plans in the words of political change to rally others to his cause, and maybe he even really believes it himself to some extent, but at the end of the day it is not about that. He wants to Be the Boot. Edward Nashton wants to be on top, he wants to be superior and wants everyone to know it. That's a core conceit of his character, historically, his sense of superiority and his need for people to acknowledge that superiority.

[Stray thought here: His sense of superiority tends to manifest in his dynamic with Batman, his obsession with deploying schemes and riddles specifically for Batman to solve, with him considering Batman the only potential intellectual equal and therefore the only one worthy of his time. I'm neither here nor there about this version of the Riddler turning that onto the entire city of Gotham itself. I think I can understand it as a stepping stone to him fully becoming The Riddler(tm). I suspect, though, that in the context of this being the only movie we Have to go off of right now, and also how goddamn /noir/ it is, this is a big reason why a lot of people don't jive with This particular version of the character even when they're big fans of most other Riddlers. The vibes are definitely different and I can see where people would slide off of this one. Interested on people's thoughts on this, though.]

He is frustrated with his current lot in life and feels he needs more. Not materially, not in wealth, but in recognition. He desperately wants for someone to recognize him, tell him he's good. Not just good, but the best. The smartest. And to actually treat him like it. He wants the respect and power he sees people like his boss at work flaunt through ill gotten means. That is a fundamental part of his story in both the movie and the Riddler: Year One comics.

It's the messy, ugly, gnarled part of his story/character and it's the part that I find so fascinating, so compelling about him in the first place. His circumstances are undeniably tragic and sympathetic. He was failed, utterly, by the city. He needed and still needs help he never and likely Will Never receive. He has stared into the naked, dark heart of Gotham and seen the corruption so deeply rooted within it.

And then, seeing that, he chooses and plans to perpetuate the violence. Selina Kyle grew up in awful and undeniably tragic and sympathetic circumstances too. The daughter of a ruthless mob boss (THE mob boss of mob bosses no less!), raised by her mother who was basically trapped in her service to Falcone and then ultimately murdered, leaving the orphaned child Selina to fend completely for herself. Think about all that Selina would've had to face due to her gender, race, and economic class on top of that. Come on. But she didn't do anything approaching a mass murder about it all.

Selina's experiences left their marks on her, no doubt. She keeps her walls up, remains extremely guarded and hesitant to open up to others. But when she finally allows herself she loves and cares very deeply. She took in Annika, looked out for her, was doing everything she could to help this poor girl even when it meant Selina had to go out of her own way for it. She didn't have to. She chose to.

Selina will lie, just as Edward does. Will try to project the image that she doesn't care, actually. That she's only in it for herself. She'll describe her bonds as 'taking in strays' when the truth is, Selina cares deeply for the few connections she chooses to foster. Then, when Annika ends up murdered (in a manner just like her mother) Selina's own rage and grief bubbles over and she seeks her own form of Vengeance / Justice.

And I need to take a minute to say that Selina's story is so, SO fucking core to the movie and I don't see as much discussion on that. The Riddler is a very obvious reflection of Batman but so is Selina! Both of them embody and reflect aspects of Batman/Bruce and that is their specific narrative purpose. They're still, of course, their own characters and that's why I find them so interesting to watch and rewatch when I come back to this movie. But I cannot talk about just one of the three main characters without talking about the others. The three of them work in tandem to form, propel, and then drive home the movie's thesis:

Vengeance will not save Gotham City. Vengeance will not save Bruce Wayne. The corruption of Gotham is founded on and enforced by violence – currently, primarily via the various mafia families in Gotham. The violence is all encompassing in form – physical, mental, emotional, economic, etc.

Batman is green in this story, still settling into himself. Bruce Wayne's central dilemma is coming to grips with why he's doing what he's doing as Batman. He has practically dissolved himself in this role, yet he does it without clarity of purpose. He thinks what he's doing is saving the city, but it's not. All he's doing is, as I said earlier, beating people up. But his battle is so much bigger than punching people can solve. He needs to come to grips with that and get out of his own goddamn head and isolated bubble through his interactions with Selina and Edward.

Consider the contrast in Batman's communication with Selina vs. Edward. Batman interacts with Selina face-to-face throughout the movie, interacts with her. Now, granted, he's still got his head in his own ass for a good portion of that and it isn't until a good way through that he actually starts to listen to her. But they back and forth, they learn about each other, they work together and most importantly form a connection with each other.

At the climax of Selina's story, she heads off on her own enact her Vengeance on Falcone and kill him. Gun in hand, she'd have fired off the shot with no hesitation had Batman not stopped her. In response to Selina's insistence, “He has to pay!” Batman responds, “You don't have to pay with him. You've paid enough.” I cannot overemphasize how important this exchange is. This represents the culmination of their connection and its importance. Selina admired Batman, admired Vengeance, yes. But she only takes that Vengeance to the extreme point of murder when she's caught, trapped in a vortex of her own grief, despair and rage. She's at her lowest point her, and it's Batman who goes to her, who provides the voice that says, you don't need to suffer anymore. You don't have to be stuck here anymore.

Killing Falcone, however cathartic it would've been, wouldn't have changed her suffering. Wouldn't have changed that she'll have to continue on with the grief in her heart for those she loved. That is a central point of Batman's character, reflected here in Selina.

And to be clear, I don't think the Batman of the beginning of the movie would've stepped in like this. He wouldn't have said anything, wouldn't have tried to reach Selina. He comes to care about her (in his own, weird, Bruce-y way, but he does care very much) and changes for the better as a result. On an interpersonal level (well. As interpersonal as can be had with these two lol), Batman has learned a bit more about why the people of Gotham end up in the situations they do and has learned some nuance compared to his rather black and white thinking from earlier. He is now ready to help people, to be not just single-minded Vengeance, but Hope. A hand, reaching out to others to lift, to save, etc.

Batman's communication with Edward, by contrast, is decidedly one-way. Edward has been trying to contact the Batman (as per the Riddler: Year One comics) but was unable to do so. When he finally succeeds, it's in the form of the Riddler leaving specifically addressed notes and encrypted letters. These aren't opportunities to exchange ideas, experiences, viewpoints. This is the Riddler leading the Batman along a path he laid out. That doesn't pave the way for connection or the kind of back-and-forth we saw with Selina.

Going off of the Riddler: Year One comics, I get the impression that Edward Nashton is someone who, as an adult, has cut himself off from others yet desperately craves connection – a kind of hedgehog dilemma type situation. For a very long portion of his life he has not had seemingly any close bonds with other people. No one close enough to call a true friend. No family. Not just no family, but getting bounced from home to home, constantly teased and tantalized with the prospect of a family that he only ever ends up denied. As an independent adult, he carries that with him. Feels different from everyone else for about a million reasons (said childhood, being one, along with an implied neurodivergence, and probably other stuff i'm forgetting?). He has no reference point for true, genuine, positive connection with others as far as I can tell. And that warps into a deep chasm of resentment.

Edward is markedly envious of others and this is like, THE root of his need to prove himself, his whole superiority thing. He's envious of Bruce Wayne – people feel sad for Bruce Wayne, people feel sympathy and care about Bruce Wayne, even though he and Edward are both orphan kids. And it's not fair. Of course it's not.

But Edward's actions as of the movie aren't about dealing with the system itself. It's about Edward, about him getting to finally sit at his (imagined) Rightful Place in society. I think, in his head, he envisioned himself ruling over the wrecked remains of a desolate and ruined Gotham with Batman as his enforcer. What else would there be to do, after all? After all the water has drowned all the rats? It'd all have to be rebuilt. He was planning on rebuilding it with Batman.

In order to do that, it has to be swept away, of course.

I get a sense of 'if they can play dirty, so can I' in Edward's descent to becoming the Riddler in the comic. Edward's idolization of Batman came before he found out the full gravity of what was happening, the seeds had already been there. But through his investigation, Edward watches more and more how the people with power in Gotham use, attain, and maintain it by playing out of bounds of what is supposed to be acceptable and legal. It's incredibly frightening and demoralizing. I think seeing Batman as an independent agent also outside of the law, outside of any official capacity, even, is what truly inspires Edward to become the Riddler and form his plan.

I'll close out here soon but before I do I want to think back again to the end of Selina's story. She nearly kills Falcone but doesn't. She allows Batman to stop her from firing the gun. Thematically, we understand this is a good thing for Selina. She's already been through so much. She's already paid enough. She can let go. She doesn't have to pay with him, now.

But Edward does. Edward does kill Falcone. He can't let go of Vengeance. And it drives him to the extreme. If Vengeance is the goal, then killing someone who needs to pay is right. If killing one person is right, then so is killing another. And another. But with the corruption rooted so deep in Gotham, the rats are everywhere, carrying their plague everywhere. There's Bad Guys everywhere who need to be beat up. Edward is streamlining Vengeance with the flood. Making everyone pay. Everyone deserves Vengeance as far as he's concerned.

He has no positive connections, has not received any of the help he's needed throughout his life, he holds no love for people despite wanting that, badly...And because of that, I think Edward's resigned himself to being the Riddler, to going to these extreme measures. But that is a choice he actively makes. He and Selina are both victims of the violence and corruption of Gotham City. Yet, Selina chooses to foster deep, close connections, however few they are. She is tempted to the extreme, but allows herself to be pulled from it by her connection [to Batman]. Edward chooses to hurt others, to make everyone pay because he's hurt.

To put it a slightly different way, Selina Kyle and Batman change, allow themselves to be changed by each other. When Edward is confronted by the failure of his plan, by his critical misread of Batman's feelings on the whole killing thing, he doesn't consider the possibility of change. None of the foundation was laid for that, and he's not psychologically in a place where he can let himself be open to anything other than his plan, his vision.

With all that in mind, I find his plans and actions within the movie to be fully believable for the kind of person he was written to be. He was corrupted himself, in a way, too - lying to others just to recruit them and then leave them to drown with the rest of the city. :p

Okay one laaaast last thing I promise. I really really wish we had a comic run for Selina/Catwoman too. I miss her and would love to have more supplementary material to talk about her with :( She adds a lot of heart to the film and provides the alternative to the Riddler's worldview imo and I think that's something that people tend to overlook when saying the Riddler is an example of 'characters making a good point but then doing something absurdly villainish so they can still be villainized' like. i get it. i feel that frustration often w/ superhero stuff in particular. But I don't feel that's this Riddler!

actually im not super into shipping i think? i definitely value being able to imagine a dynamic for even the nichest pairings and have a lot of fun stretching or emphasizing certain parts of each characters' personalities to get them to work the best while opening up the potential for some development on each characters' side (thats exactly why im doing the ship bingo! its a ton of fun!), but theres very few things i actually like. Ship beyond surface level thoughts tbh. and recently the things i actually do ship have gotten increasingly niche. so enjoy this ramble that mostly pertains to specifically me and only me LMAO /lh

metadede ofc is the big one. not niche obviously. extremely beloved by me hiiiiiiiiii. they just have so much to work with in canon it makes so many varied interpretations which are a blast to see honestly. in general i love seeing how people portray their friendship too. an idiot whos smart to smart guy whos an idiot communication. enemies to friends to lovers..... their personalities bounce off of each other really well and the content the community makes is always a+. actually im going to take the opportunity to share my favorite mtdd fic ever. this is like pretty much peak metadede to me if anyone wants to know what i hope my personal interpretation will live up to [link!]

people might be able to tell ive been getting very into dametaberge. oh my god im so insane. no one look at me. dmk+jambacult found family Real. i have like three comics in my drafts for them. its mostly dametaberge thoughts rn but i like to think susie joins them later to make a poly ship. dmk and susie are a little tense at first but susie is, "like so over her knight phase," as she says, which dmk is extremely conflicted about whether to be offended or relieved at. and then they learn how to relax around each other and are always the two in the relationship to have awful destructive ideas, which flamberge vetos or approves of on a case by case basis. they get very happy and excited when flamberge approves of their awful plans

and of course my beloved gsa ships.............. theres falsgato which i am incredibly insane about thanks to my friend dragging me into it and now its a thing in my animeverse. enemies to friends to lovers I KEEP SAYING IM SO WEAK FOR THAT. dragato was a huge asshole to falspar for Various reasons regarding the nature of the gsa and perhaps dragatos own personal insecurity, but once they lost the war they got to bond since dragato like, realized how little the shit he antagonized falspar for actually mattered in the first place. and falspars a guy who really sees the best in people and ahahahghdjk its a whole thing its a whole thing i wont go into it rn LOL

theres also metarthur which is my very very beloved longtime rarepair. which i um. uh. ahahahah............. i get very slightly nervous talking about on main because a lot of people hc arthur as meta knights dad or parental figure but i shouldnt be nervous about hc differences really....... anyways theyre supposed to be like parallels of each other. people who are opposites thematically (arthur being leader of the gsa; mk being a former deeply infamous demon beast) who find themselves in similar positions in that they both kinda struggle with their sense of purpose vs their sense of self. meta knight sees his past struggles in arthur and so he finds himself drawn to him. he cant really Solve his situation, but (during their war-time relationship specifically) he hopes to offer some solace to him which functions as a form of catharsis to mk himself too. the two get to connect and understand each other in a unique way. i wont get too into this one right now either lol since the dynamic changes a lot depending on if its their during-war relationship or post-war relationship but theres the basics. i have a comic expanding on their general relationship in my drafts too but its at the bottom of my to-do list tbh. maybe someday though

im only into this one casually nowadays but morphogala... you really cant go wrong with "knight of death saves the greatest warrior in the galaxy from their torturous fate". something something the themes of wishing for the release of death being subverted into yes, death itself releasing you but in a way that actually Saves and rescues you instead. the hope and love in spite of all of the hopelessness AHHHHGH the themes of this one make me so weak. theres so much potential...... i really love this one on an aesthetic level too

ships that make my thumbs up list in that i like them in concept but dont ship myself would be: marxolor; any of wave 3 x each other tbh. i have them as just besties in my hcs but paired up in any way is very fun; i kinda like shadow metadede but im really particular about the dynamic of that one; fransoos gets a very big thumbs up from me for themes and concept+enemies/rivals to lovers; metagala is. i dont super get it myself but the aesthetics alone are absolutely on-point enough to put this one in the thumbs up category. yayyyyyyy. im sure theres more that im missing but i think that covers any that arent too niche

Hello there! It is me, again. I never really know how to start asks, aha.

During my first play through, I at first got attached to Fenir and Kuna’a(surprise surprise, the two probably most popular characters), but during my other ones where I unlocked all but the two Faes’ dates, I actually found myself really liking Kayn? Which really surprised me for some reason. Usually, I don’t get attached to the flirtier LIs, but I have apparently gotten attached to Kayn.

What also helped me get attached to Kayn was your tumblr! One, was when an anon asked what the LI’s mbti would be, and you said Kayn would be an ENFP, which surprised me a little at first, but then it made a lot more sense. The other was the LI’s reaction to puns and how Kayn would make even worse ones back.

For the MBTI, I’m actually an INFP, so we’re rather similar in that aspect. For puns, ooooh boy. I freaking love puns. And I feel like we’d both just fuel each other’s fire in making the cringiest puns making everyone around us suffer while we’re both probably on the floor laughing.

My favorite thing about the potential dynamic though is just how oblivious I am. You see an oblivious character and think “There is no way anyone is that oblivious.” It’s me. I’m that character. But only towards how others perceive me. I’m quite perceptive of all but that.

Kayn frequently using pet names(darling, dear, love), reminds me so much of this one time a friend who had a crush on me started calling me them and I still didn’t get the hint(I did think it was kinda weird that they started out of nowhere though). I just think that that is so funny.

Also, I’m glad you liked my rambling and thoughts on how I interpreted the characters with the VA’s voices! I’m rather nervous when I send long/longer asks cause of that not so little thing called anxiety. I also don’t frequently send things off of anon because of anxiety, but I wanted to get an notif for when you decide to reply/answer

I’m laughing because Fenir and Kuna’a indeed are the two most popular LMAO. BUT I’m glad to hear about the Kayn love!!!!! I actually thought Kayn would be more popular going into the game’s release, so I was surprised Kuna’a was the most popular with Fenir and not Kayn.

Kayn is a really fun and playful partner, which I think gets overshadowed by their flirtiness. But I’m glad to hear even tho they’re not typically your type, you are still attached to them! Flirty types can be hard to write, I think—I’ve noticed they’re a hit or miss in the VN community. Some people love the trope and some ppl hate it.

I personally think flirting can be fun (not that I’m a very flirty person myself lmao)!! It doesn’t have to be a bunch of sexual jokes/innuendos; it can also be cheesy pick up lines, witty banter, corny compliments, etc., and I hope that comes through with Kayn <3

Also, fun fact but your inner two MBTI letters (e.g., NF) are basically very core to you and how you process the world. The outer two (e.g., IJ) are more behavioral. If you had to rank the Scream movies from least favourite to most favourite... what would they be? Feel free to include any tidbits on reasoning and such, I'm curious what you think.

Ooooh, ok! There has been some shifting since the last two came out, but overall I feel like they’ve stayed in the relatively same place since they’ve come out. Under a read more cause I do be rambling.

#6 - Scream (2022).

I do like it, but it feels the least like a Scream movie to me? Like it very clearly is one, the title is 'Scream' but something just felt kind of off for me at times? Like some of the characters’ behaviors felt a little like ‘oh they probably wouldn’t do that’ or like ‘the writers needed that to happen so they can die’ and it just felt a little lazy to me? Also the main friend group pretty much hating each other’s guts from the moment the movie started was kind of a bummer cause the characters had potential, and all they really did around each other was go ‘oh so where where YOU’. Probably rewatched it the least out of the 6.

#5 - Scream 3.

Had you asked me like 5 years ago, this would’ve been my answer but I’ve come to appreciate it. The deaths are kinda mid compared to other entries, but the humor does save it for the most part. Definitely think Angelina needed to be a killer so there was at least a somewhat familiar face for Sidney at the reveal because Roman taking off his mask and Sidney just standing like ‘???’ always bugged me but I get it.

#4 - Scream VI.

This is where the list gets a bit unsure. I thought it was a huge step up from 5 in just about every way, I’m just really biased towards the other three. I do feel like a lot of people made it out of this one, but the body count was still decent. Very similar to 2, but I didn’t mind that and thought the differences they brought in were decent.

#3 - SCRE4M.

The first one I saw in theaters, so there is some sentiment behind it. It’s not perfect by any means, and I have been going a bit back and forth with this one and 6, but it’s a good watch. The kills are solid, the characters in this one have a really fun dynamic to watch, it’s just a good time all around.

#2 - Scream 2.

Probably my favorite duo of killers overall. Mickey is just so <3 and Nancy’s energy is just insane, I always live for her. Not really much Just a really solid follow up to a really solid movie, which brings me to…

#1 - Scream (1996).

It could be nostalgia, but idk nothing really beats this one for me. 2 does come very close, I got back and forth with them depending on my mood lowkey, but something about this one is just… classic. The opening, the entire chunk of the movie that takes place at Stu’s house, tbh even the shots of Sidney's house, they grabbed the most beautiful houses for this movie. I’m likely a little biased, but idk I feel like with good reason. Only complaint is that Tatum deserved to live.

Yknow I’m finishing the last 2 episodes of HoT tonight & am prepared to either go straight into the Oni Trilogy afterwards but there’s something about Episode 8 that I wanted to note!

(( Long rambles abound ))

I think I’ve heard a few people describe Kai’s behavior as very much jumping to conclusions when he faces off against Ray with knowledge of his parents’ alleged betrayals — and I do 100% agree Kai tends to be brash. Versus Nya’s behavior, in holding Kai back to get him to listen to their father.

But I think from the perspective of both Kai, it kinda makes sense why!

Like for Nya, since she likely wasn’t old enough at the time to directly know their parents, it’s understandable she’d want to her out her father because this is the first time she’s honestly seen or heard from him.

On the other hand, Kai’s personally grown up with both parents while he’s at an age to be conscious of his need for them & attachment as a young child who misses them. There’s a LOT of trauma in realizing your parents weren’t gone the whole time, that they were out there and just left you behind to do something else — something that wasn’t what happened but very much so was skewed to appear so. So likely the thought going through his mind would be ‘You weren’t there for us when we needed in order to do things for the people actively harming us?’ I thought that might be interesting to note.

We got a super nifty fight scene out of that so I’ll add that to my collection of cool Kai moments lololol.

Other HoT ending notes:

- The fusion dragon was absolutely EPIC! And a boiling sea that works with a master of fire & master of water???! That’s such a neat concept!!! These things make me wished that the season could’ve been implemented better bc HoT had such huge potential (I prob won’t criticize anything tho cause I feel other people wrote a lot over the flaws more eloquently!).

- Ray and Maya were pretty great for the short time they were there, but I have really mixed feelings on bringing them back. It was such a huge part of the beginnings for awhile — the siblings starting off alone in the Pilots, Chen holding the backstories of Kai’s parents over himself, then finally both siblings grieving in DotD with a beautiful scenes & the foreshadowing of their parents’ backstories when Kai wonders if they’ll ever figure out what happened. All of that was just implemented so well!

I heard alternate ideas proposed from those who thought the set up for an arc where Ray & Maya were actually evil would give a lot to explore. That’d definitely be interesting for sure!

But of my own personal preferences, I really liked them being on the good side but the issue stemming from a distortion of perspective obscuring the actual events & intention. And just overall the idea of them being dead but the story being years later, where Kai & Nya get to the bottom of things and unwrap what actually happened. Now that they’re back, and it might be hard for the show to fit them into the plot when they’re established as extremely important.

In a sense, I kind of worry about getting that same feeling for Lord/Sensei Garmadon the next season too. I already know what happens so I’m just bracing myself for it >~<.

Lastly, for the next season:

I can’t wait to finally get to watch the things I’m curious about the most!

In a jumbled list — I really want to see the implementation of Pixal as the new Samurai X, Skylor’s reappearance & role (& just more into how her powers work if she uses them!), the arc with Sensei Wu developing with the ninja, Nya-Lloyd dynamic, Karloff returning (omg - I LOVE them bringing back other elemental masters!!), and the Mr. E rivalry with Zane (the Echo Zane theories I’ve read are so exciting!!!).

I’m a bit scared though because the Kai character assassinations begin along with this marking the point of many people not being able to see Garmadon the same again :(. So I hope the good skill of the writers makes up for that bc I know this show does a lot with all of the elements surrounding it!

Aaaaaaa I have so many thoughts my brain won’t let me sleep 😭

Every single day I shake my head thinking about the potential Kevin could have if yk. RAC didn't go cop mode and his god. His shit w Percival and also every other relationship it's rly :////. I don't know how unpopular my opinions r bc outside of my like 5 Riverdale mutuals I do NOT touch the main tags. I do NOT need the horrible barchie and varchie takes so. But it is very frustrating to me how he's treated and I rly think if I rewatched I could get more insane about him and use my epic ok let's give him more character abilities BUT I am holsing back from a rewatch so.

Like I'm not umm?? Super picky on any Cheryl ship BUT I think Cheryl and Veronica could be so fucking funny. Like the dynamic could go so hard etc. I love her a lot like in my top 5 rvd characters

Umm persona time and also like I'm gonna spoil a BIG twist about 4 for you so like. Heads up for that. It's not worth playing tho (I say so affectionately but it's also a hard twist to avoid bc everyone knows it and it's like a 10+ year old game)

My least fave (affectionate. Kind of. I also want him dead) character is adachi from 4. I want him dead like for REALSIES but also he's done nothing wrong but he's ALSO literally killed 3 people.

^ every fan sucks about him and I want literally every adachi fan minus my friend to die bc they suck but like he's ultimately just a silly little guy (again. Excusing the murders and also the well. General cringefail of him). Unfortunately I understand him and I think that like he has issues (in a good and bad way.) But he's also like rly???? Idk man he's kinda got issues and problems but he's also rly sillay and goofy and I think he's allowed to kill because he's sillay. He also sucks so bad and I need to kill him. Like a lot of the fans suck so so so bad and I think that he's a very interesting character if you actually understand him. And so like here's rapidfire facts about him before I hit u w the bingo. So like his weapon when fighting is a guitar case turned into a machine gun. I'm not joking it's very epic. He's also like?? His introduction in the game is LITERALLY basically a hey quit your job join my emo band. He says carpe diem like "crap a dime". He's a singer and like he comes up w insanely stupid song lyrics. He's also like full of issues and problems on many levels. And he literally has blue hair and pronouns

He's rly epic and niceys and minus well a couple issues he does nothing wrong ever and ever. He's my best friend bc like. In persona 2 when u meet demons u can communicate w them and one of his options is to like talk to them and be like HEY you suck your life sucks etc. It's very epic and funny and he will also sing to them sometimes.
