Tim sees Summer as yet another cool older sister figure he can rely on(Babs,Cass AND Helena damn okay go off king)and Summer sees Tim as an add-on to his younger siblings collection(ALL the Superkids that have appeared in the comics are canon to this verse,plus Match getting adopted by Clois and @mayameanderings ' s/i Cindy.Summer has major Eldest Daughter Syndrome and Troubled But Good Kid Trauma so that includes taking in every kid he meets that needs it)

Summer radicalized Tim and provided him shelter when Jack died and he couldn't bear to stay with Bruce at the time due to the extreme turbalance of their relathionship.Afterwards Tim was constantly insistant on paying Summer back to the point it borderlined on self-destructive but Summer had enough experience with that situation to put a stop to it before he could hurt himself irreversably

Tim got Summer into tagging and graffiti/street art and they go around to throw some tags up or do some analysis of street art they take interest in.Summer uses his kryptonian/human hybrid superheight and kryptofang(kryptonian dragon,his specific species)wings to help Tim throw up pieces in hard to reach places

He also introduces him to his favorite books/texts he normally can't nerd out with other people.The philosophical stuff like Art of War,Diogenes and Camus(Jason is also into that but Tim refuses to spend enough time with him solo to find that out)

And shows him his favorite super niche nerd stuff too-Like architecture in Gotham and how it interacts with and changes the ways the newer Bats traverse with the city,or the history of the undercity and how it affects the actual crime and even everyday life of Gothamites!They have a lot of fun discussing it and for strategy for Summer's hero work as well

Summer is afrolatina squared(black biracial with dominican birth parents and adopted by Clark and Lois,who are black mexican and black dominican and both monoracial).He's literally kryptonian Starfire and not just because he was mentored by her and Dick as a sidekick but as Sparks,he was a rowdy and loud goth tomboy with a huge mean and bitter streak as trauma coping and a defense mechanism in addition to a hodgepodge neurodivergent disorders.All the other Robins had Batgirl but Jason had Sparks

Tim is cherokee on Janet's side and Jack wasn't malicious but he was extremely white and rich so he had a strong cultural disconnect.Tim was a trans freakish kid that ran around on the street for the majority of his Gotham nightlife out of audhd.The running around alleys and on rooftops sparked a natural love and fascination for the art that covers the city's landscape

They love sitting on ledges together that Summer lifts them up to in Gotham and Metropolis equally,discussing the things they've discovered and how to traverse them and the differences yet similarities between them(the cities and themselves too)

Summer is a huge gastronomer so he taught Tim the culinary arts and focused on african and latino cuisine and their historical significance and meaning which leads to uncovering Tim's cherokee roots together with deep dive research and doing cultural fusion.This includes but is not nearly limited to them taking care of eachother's hair and being allowed to touch it whenever and wherever they want(Standard hairstyles are natural i.e Big floof and straight for Summer and Tim respectively but Summer loves braiding Tim's hair in all kinds of looks and running his hands through it and massaging his scalp as a pressure stim and Tim is fascinated and awed by Summer's kinky hair and thinks it's the best kind of hair and their favorite styles are sisterlocks,pufftails and goddess braids and he makes haircare products for him since he wants to keep improving his diy skills as long as he can)

They also both dye their hair.Summer has his baby pink bangs and Tim has red dip tips.Summer started his as part of his start as a solo hero,Ember,and Tim did his job on his own in manic panic until Summer showed up and helped him do it right and since he was in-need of a redye himself,he let him do his and they watched movies as the bleach and dye dry process happened

you're totally fine! i hope it's cool i answered it publicly, i think it's a topic that a lot of people shy away from. luckily, i have little to no self preservation. i'll just re-explain my stance here 👇

i think just inherently, if we call a piece of media a love story it implies sex. this is a fact no matter how deep you worm your way into internet culture and try to convince yourself otherwise. now that doesn't mean sex is going to happen, or even be mentioned--that has to do with the rating/presentation of the media, not the media itself (one time almost a year ago i mentioned this same topic and someone specifically cited the little mermaid as ace rep. and i was like in the sequel they... literally have a child? and then the person blocked me lol)

now can love be platonic? absolutely. can people have love for others and not want to fuck them? yeah, i would say a majority of love experienced globally is the platonic/familial sort lol. but a love story is only platonic if it's designated as platonic, meaning that at its root, the implication is sex. if i want to divorce sex from the romance, i have to explicitly define it as such. meaning if we call, for example, good omens a love story, that implies sex and sexual attraction unless the canon ever explicitly tells us differently. a love story includes sex unless it can prove it doesn't, that's just... the nature of being a human being living in a human society lol

and i think that's a scary concept to people who have labeled themselves as sex-repulsed without digging into WHY they feel that way in the first place. but i think further than that people are too bogged down in connecting their identities with fiction to the point that the work becomes divorced from fiction, so you have huge swathes of people claiming characters as whatever they want external to the canon in order to feel secure in their own identity. fascinating subject, too dense to get into in a tumblr ask haha

i think at the crux of it what i need people to understand is characters are not real people, they do not have aspects deeper than what we're shown in the canon. characters are simply functions of the plot. like take two characters in a love story. sure, if these WERE real people, TECHNICALLY someone could say "they can have sex and actively want to have sex and be attracted to each other and still be asexual!" which. uh, sure, but if a mouse said that about a kia sorento, etc etc. like that potential reading has so little bearing on the story that i know it's just pulled out of someone's ass so they can manufacture deeper meaning and "representation" out of the media they consume because they're not getting that representation elsewhere. which sucks! but! just because something COULD be canon doesn't mean it IS canon and in our current climate of media illiteracy, that's the unfortunate trend to how people are choosing to consume media. self-first rather than story-first, internal vs external, individual vs collective. you can go on and on.

and of course. of course. you can negate ALL of this by just telling me it's not that serious and media is consumed in the preferred method of the consumer, that's what it's meant for. i am fully self-aware i come at this like i have two english degrees. and for that fact, rest assured i will always be deeply deeply uncool

“i think we should start cleaning up guys, the situation is not sustainable anymore.” it was the last day of christmas, the holy spirit and the holiday atmosphere slowly fading as time went on, you and the boys getting full and sick of stuffing yourselves with delicious special meals which you partly helped cook as well as got delivered to make sure you had enough of everything. wrappers of chocolate and presents were all over the kitchen counter, not leaving any space for you to make your morning drink; moreover the house looked like a mess, the two floors were terribly packed with all sorts of stuff you had to get in order to complete the decoration or to ensure that everyone was having the time of their lives (which included a karaoke machine, darts, and a table tennis court just to mention some activities you did), them being a bit damaged due to the excitement of the day before, the boys handling them roughly. “what did you say? sorry i’m literally deaf, yesterday’s karaoke destroyed my eardrums…even though i wanted to just sleep peacefully…” jake complained while moving into the kitchen, eyes barely open since he didn’t get enough sleep. “oh shit-“ “WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT OH MY GOD!”jake whined when you accidentally knocked the pot next to you over, its fall chattering on the marble floor, making your friend jump in surprise. “whoops, sorry. can you get the others? we need to clean this mess up.” you said gently, trying not to startle the poor boy even more.

ten minutes later all of the seven men were on their feet, sleepy gazes pinned upon your figure while waiting for an answer as of why you needed them so badly since jakey had no energy to even finish his sentence. “this is disgusting guys. i don’t even know where this suspicious substance came from, but i think it is better for all of us if we try to get rid of it.” you said with a face of shock, holding a roll of wipes and pointing at the countertop which had what you suspected was some kind of juice, sticking to everything of course. “hee please take the ornaments down from the rooms with riki, they are like broken in half or ripped into pieces anyways, so you can just throw them in the trash can.” you ordered, ushering the oldest and youngest boys of the group out of the mentioned room, and grabbing jay by his hand. “you are gonna help me clean the kitchen since we are probably the only ones who actually know how to do it.” he smiled at your words; you often came around to their dorm to spend time with them, meanwhile getting into a habit of cooking with jay, and this holiday was no exception; you had a blast with these silly boys whom you loved dearly, but the fun was over and everyone had to get back into their normal lives soon, not to mention new year’s eve rolling around soon enough. “sunoo, sunghoon please collect the wrappers.” you pleaded, the duo already hurrying to get the bags. “and lastly jakey and wonnie, can you go out to buy some new garbage bags and cleaning stuff? we are gonna run out i think.” you wondered, looking around the cabinets to find out what was necessary.

after hours of mopping and like ten bags of trash later you finally managed to get the building squeaky clean. “good job guys! i miss the christmas spirit, but i think this little session did wonders to the house! isn’t it nice to have a clean surface to sit down on?” you grinned at them, however they weren’t that happy. “yeah yeah great…” jay said while scratching the back of his head. “i wasted half a day for this…when i could’ve went out to get that ichiran ramen i got from heeseung!” riki added right after, surely not being satisfied with how his holiday came to an end. “i will treat you to a big meal on new year’s eve okay? yall are so dramatic!” you said with a blank expression. “you guys did nothing but eat and play for DAYS…a bit of hygiene doesn’t hurt you know.” sunoo sided with you, happily skipping around the house in the sunshine that was coming in through the big windows. “hah! that’s it for you all, sunny is on my side! i knew you would never let me down!” you ran to him, hugging him tightly to which he responded with a bubbly laugh. “are we gonna argue about this any further or are we gonna finally try to solve that 20000 piece lego set you bought for us?” jungwon asked with a cocked brow, you not even having time to process what happened when sunghoon started screaming. “YEAH FINALLY, THE LEGO!” he quickly grabbed it and poured it out onto the ground, sitting down next to the pieces. “now that i think of it it was a good decision to put away the stuff which has been laying here. now we have all the space for the fun!” heeseung commented, already lowering himself next to hoon. you watched the seven idiots fondly, looking at how their eyes sparkled. “okay big boys, let’s start then!”

but i do have one question. did your experience ruin every character? like do you still like Elle, JJ, and Morgan? (the characters i personally consider to be a bit less oversaturated, or who i see much less posts about, and who are also my faves lol)

no, my enjoyment of the other characters has not been ruined, but I still hesitate to rewatch the show and participate in the fandom because of my mixed feelings about the fandom as a whole.

I still reblog gifsets of JJ and Emily because I can still casually enjoy them, and I would reblog Morgan if I saw more gifsets of him in existence, but people don't gif him enough (if people have any good gifsets of him, please send them my way). I have a fic for Morgan in my drafts that I have been heavily considering finishing, but I haven't quite had the motivation to do so, and same thing with a MILF JJ fic that I drafted out a few weeks ago

I really wouldn't mind posting fics for those characters because they are way less popular and I feel like the crossover between the fans who only watch the show for Spencer (or even fans who don't watch the show at all and just thirst over MGG via tiktoks) and people who enjoy all the characters equally and would enjoy JJ fics and Morgan fics is not a venn diagram but two separate circles.

also, I have such an intense love for Gideon platonically. I feel like there is not nearly enough love and passion in the fandom for Gideon as a pillar character in the series, and I have mentioned it before - how I have a passion for collecting father figures from different series. John Kramer, Gideon, Dale from TWD (and yes, it's because my own father irl is so shit) - and Gideon is a character who truly warms my heart and gives me such a fondness and I would rewatch the show over and over again just for him

also on a side note, one of the biggest flaws of the fandom and one of the huge reasons I don't interact with the fandom and left - while on discussion of JJ and Morgan - is because of the treatment of characters aside from Spencer.

people ruthelessly hate JJ but uphold Emily, because most people believe that Emily is 'canonically' a lesbian, while JJ is in a main het relationship and she is a wife and mother - she gets endlessly criticised for 'choosing' Will over Emily (as if the network would have ever hosted a main queer relationship, and as if the homophobia of the network is the choice of a fucking fictional character to put that blame on), she gets criticised for spending too much time at work instead of being with her kids when one of her main storylines is about her physically fighting to save her child, and yet she's also criticised for being too soft and emotional when one of the best parts of her character is that her empathy as a mother brings a unique perspective to the cases? people act like she's cold and ruthless for not being with her children constantly, yet she's too emotional when she sympathizes with cases involving children???

also, I will never forget the post where someone said unironically that JJ 'ruined' Spencer's life by yelling at him one time, that she's a horrible friend to him, and that he loves Henry more than she does. thank you, I'm out

and not to mention how a skinny sickly looking beanpole like Reid and a crusty dusty geriatric liver spotted old man like Hotch get paraded around as if they are the hottest pieces of ass in the world and they have ten thousand fucking fics each and Morgan is suffering for CRUMBS while being the hottest man on the fucking show, and it is literally just because he's black. like the fandom will never say it out loud, but the white men get more attention from fangirls than he does because they are white

the fandom is flawed from the ground-up. and if I did ever finish and posts the fics I have in my drafts, idk if I would still be motivated to post that much about the fandom in general? especially because I am more into Teen Wolf right now because that's what I've been watching (which - I need to pick back up on it).

Red Thoughts

Aka a blob of my biggest thoughts on Madam Red and Grelle because there were and always will be the best ship in Black Butler. This is dedicated to @pop-roxs both as an apology and because I was supposed to do a redcliffe analysis anyways and then things happened so yeah. This is for you Water, you absolute cool legend

Grelle Sutcliff and Angelina Dalles were never meant to love each other. In every lifetime, in every iteration, in every timeline- these two were never meant to be. Controversial, I know, but let me explain.

When we're introduced to Madam Red and Grelle in the red butler arc, they're the eccentric aunt and useless butler, nothing more, nothing less. As time goes on, we learn more about Ann and her life that she believes was taken away from her. We learn about her affection for Ciel and how, as much as she wants to love him for being the family she has and the last part of her sister that's left, all that she can feel is resentment as he also represents the life that she never got due to her sister marrying the love of her life. The main takeaways from Grelle before her transforming into the reaper we now know and love is that she's just a useless butler. She's meant to take the most unassuming role she can in order for her and Ann's murder time to go off without a hitch. That's literally it.

Then they get found out by Ciel and Sebastian and all of the backstory starts to fall into place.

Ann is grieving; she never stopped, even three years after the back to back death of her baby, her husband, and her sister and her family. When her baby and husband died, she didn't allow herself to grieve as she should have. And just when she might have gotten to a place where she could physically start to pick herself back up, the world that didn't seem like it could get any bleaker went pitch black with the fire at the Phantomhive manor. Overnight, Ann lost her sister, the love of her life, and her nephews to boot. She could barely stand to lose her baby and husband, how was she supposed to recover from this?

Her resent grew and grew until, as we know, Ann started killing. She was Madam Red, doctor and social figure, during the day and a murderer, one who wanted to take from others what the world had taken from her, by night. It's only natural that someone who wouldn't- practically couldn't- allow herself to properly feel be able to be manipulated so easily. There were sharks in the water, and her blood was the easiest to detect.

In comes the shark, Grelle Sutcliff: grim reaper obviously not happy with the person they are and has no idea how to compensate for that without making it their whole personality. Grelle says that she felt for Ann, missing the piece that would make her a true woman in the eyes of the world just as she was. Grelle claimed she saw a piece of herself in Madam Red and wanted to help her, intrigue taking over and ending with her abandoning the dispatch for years and breaking the rules of her organization. I'm not saying that she lied, but that's exactly what I'm saying.

Grelle was already unstable, Ann's similar state of unstableness just made it all the more useful when it came to using her. Grelle probably felt alive with Ann, in either a platonic or romantic sense. With this mortal, she didn't have to worry about the weight of a life. The only list was those who threw away the link between the Rippers, not one full of boring collections bound by rules and regulations. Sure, she had to trade her blood red hair in for a more human look, but Ann wouldn't leave her; she needed Grelle just as much as Grelle needed her.

All of this to get to the point that they used each other. That's all that it was meant to be. The universe never meant for them to fall in love, it meant for them to slowly kill each other until someone fell; the ironic part is that they did fall, just in a different way. Grelle fell first, and Madam Red fell harder. Them falling in love wasn't meant to happen, but they did, and what would be a more ultimate punishment than forcing you to kill your loved one?

It was a game that the two played- who would kill the other first. It was inevitable that Grelle kill Ann because (besides the obvious immortality reason) Grelle threw Ann off the deep end. They enabled each other's rage and, while Grelle would be able to rehabilitate to some degree, Ann would never be able to. Ann's fire never burned out, rather, it raged on, and continues to rage on in Ciel and Grelle. Ciel still remembers the hesitation of his aunt and as much as the brat may want to say that he didn't care about her, he very much did so. He regrets her death, even if he knows it was always going to happen. Ciel carries the weight of Ann's life in his heart, and will continue to do so until he either frees himself of his revenge or dies (this is part of the reason why I want Madam Red to come back as a bizarre doll, I want to see this child suffer), but I digress. Grelle carries Ann with her, physically, with her coat and, emotionally, by doing the one thing Ann never could: moving on.

They lived and worked with each other for three years. Ann and Grelle enabled each other's rage for three years. Ann died filled with that rage. Grelle killed her as an impulse through that rage. Grelle thought about that rage while she was locked up and let it pass through. Grelle moved on from the rage that Ann passed away holding on to. She keeps the coat as a reminder to not succumb to the rage again, lest she lose another person who understood her.

Is this a mess and this last part probably doesn't make sense? Yes. Regardless, my point is that Ann and Grelle enabled each other and it's because of this that they never were meant to fall in love to begin with. The universe played a cruel trick on them and, in the end, Grelle was able to feel the weight of a life, choosing to continue to carry that weight with her as a reminder of what it feels like. This relationship is vast and complex and one day I will conquer it and reach the peak of the mountain. Unfortunately, it is 10 PM and I have work tomorrow, so today is not that day. SUBTITLE: THE HUNTRESS OF ARTEMIS

SUMMARY: Damian Wayne decides to get rid of the Father Figures in his elder sister's life so that she will embrace Bruce Wayne as her one true father and him as her younger brother. One night, as Robin, he stalks Tobias Blake and intends to end his life when he is intercepted by the Mysterious Hunter of Artemis who claims that the Blake Family is under her protection.

[LOCATION - THE BLAKE FAMILY BAKERY - 15 MINUTES AFTER OPENING]

[The Shop smells like fresh baked goods like muffins, cinnamon rolls, and other pastries, as well as coffee, tea, and other delicious drinks. Damian sits in his chair at a high table with his laptop before him as he types away - he looks like he is doing homework but he is taking notes on Rani Blake as she and her employees work in the shop; there has to be something he can use against them so that Dakota would come to them instead. It's been a month since Wild Berry Week and Damian still comes into the shop for a Blueberry Muffin along with a cup of coffee; he learned that Dakota made the recipe for the muffins while Rani bakes them, that's the only reason he comes to the bakery and enjoys his sister's creations before leaving his when his father calls for him. So far, the bakery is running smoothly but he occasionally sees Rani glaring at him to which he smirks at her; she knows that the Wayne Family is after Dakota and she wants nothing more than to kick him out but if she kicked out a member of the Wayne Family without reason, it would be bad for business and she didn't want any bad publicity in the papers about her bakery.]

[The door opened and Damian looked up from his laptop to see a familiar male walk into the bakery: Tobias Blake. He looked into him: A Military Man who served 2 tours and collected a great number of scars - physically and mentally - but he managed to get himself together and find a decent job along with a woman by the name of Tori Bishop - now going by the name Tori Blake after her marriage to Tobias. Damian looked the man up and down: He was tall and muscular with short rusty red hair and green eyes that went well with his tan skin; as much as he didn't want to admit it, he saw what Tori saw in him - a kind-hearted man with a will and body of steel.]

Tobias (Walks over to the counter and waves Rani over): Hey, Little Sister, I wanted to inform you that your new shipment of supplies and pans is here. I guess Wild Berry Week damaged your pans, huh? 

Rani (Exhales as she runs her hand through her long red hair): Yes, they did. I wish 'Kota would work with me here, then I could have more hands around to get more muffins out.

Tobias (Places his hands in his pockets): You know that Dakota loves where she is, Rani, plus I don't think her godmother would give up her number one barista without a fight. Literally.

Rani: I know. I know. You sure do know a lot about Dakota, Elder Brother, but that's to be expected from the man who raised her all those years ago. Remember when she called you 'Daddy' when she was first learning how to speak? You still have that recording, don't you?

Tobias (Blushed in embarrassment as he scratched the back of his head with a low but hearty laugh): Yeah... It was so embarrassing but at the same time, it made me realize that I wanted children of my own. Now, Tori is pregnant and she says that I raised a decent young lady in Dakota but do you have any idea how long it took her to call me her uncle after years of calling me her father?

Rani: Well, you did a lot of things that a father would do: Took her to the hospital when she was sick, drove her to school when she was running late, scolded her when she got a boyfriend.

[That made Damian almost choke on his muffin piece - a BOYFRIEND?! HIS SISTER HAD A BOYFRIEND?! Well, she was old enough to have one so to speak but she was still a Wayne and there was no man alive that was worthy of the Wayne Heiress! He needed to find out how this so-called boyfriend was and deal with him...but first, he need to have a word with Tobias - the man who robbed Dakota of her real father, their real father. Once he was done with his muffin and coffee, he closed his laptop and placed it inside the satchel across his shoulder before walking over to the adults talking before he cleared his throat, gaining their attention; both of the Blakes looked at him with disinterest in their eyes and scowls on their faces.]

Damian (Glares into Tobias' Green Eyes with his own): Tobias Blake, I need to have a word with you about Dakota Wayne.

Tobias (Turns to face Damian and narrows his eyes): Her name is Dakota Blake, I should know because I was the one who named her when she was born. It was my honor that was given to me by her mother - the one that raised her for the past 16 years. 

Damian (Narrows his eyes): The only reason that woman raised my sister was that she was too selfish to take to my father about his heir and you have been talking about raising her but don't you understand that you have taken away the right of raising a child away from her biological father? From my father?

Tobias: Listen, kid. I don't give a damn about your father or you for that matter. Both of you are making my niece's life harder than it has to be because you can't take no for an answer. Dakota has expressed numerous times that she wants nothing to do with your family and she refuses to claim the Wayne Name. Why? Because she's a Blake and it doesn't matter how much money your father tries to throw at her or Marissa, she will never be a Wayne.

Damian: You don't know what you are talking about. Dakota is a Wayne - it's only natural that an heir takes her father's name.

Tobias (Smirks): Funny you say that. She called me father but she only refers to your father as Bruce.

[Damian looked at the man with anger in his eyes but calmed down before turning on his heel and walking out of the shop. He pulled his phone out of his pocket and dialed a number before placing the phone to his ear - it rang 4 times before the other person picked up.]

Alfred: Yes, Master Damian?

Damian: Get some information on Tobias Blake - he's the one who took the right and privilege of raising Dakota away from my father and I want him to pay.

Alfred: What are you planning, Master Damian?

Damian: I'm going to remove him from the equation completely.

[3 Weeks Later]

[There was a chaotic peace about the nights of Gotham City - a deadly silence that drew out the darkest passions of man and beast; Damian guessed that's why so much villain activity happened at night, under this blanket of darkness and chaotic peace. However, he wasn't looking for a villain or going on patrol with his father and adoptive brothers - the Last Robin had a mission of his own and he was going to use this time to his advantage. Jumping from one rooftop to another, Robin ran alone in the night as his eyes narrowed while he was reaching his target - Rani Blake's Bakery. For the past 3 weeks, Damian has been looking into one Tobias Blake to understand his pattern and he found out that every Saturday, there was a family event and all of the Blake Family was invited; sometimes Dakota would attend but this weekend, she had something else to do and couldn't attend, this was perfect for Damian, she didn't need to be around for what was about to happen.]

[Landing upon the roof of the last building across from the back of the bakery, The Last Robin crouched behind a rooftop door and peered around the corner to look down at the door that led to the back parking lot of Rani's Bakery, his eyes were locked on the door when it opened and the tall man walked out with a smile on his face as he placed his hands in his pockets as he hummed a song. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his car keys as he walked over to the lone car in the parking lot. Damian reached into his Batarang Case and pulled out a League of Assassins Star and aimed it for the neck of the man.]

Damian (Thinking): 'You're not Dakota's Father - Tonight, it will break her and I will be there to put the pieces back together with her real father. Goodbye, Tobias Blake.'

[Just as he was about to throw the star, something flew past his ear and knocked the star out of his hand, causing him to retract his hand and hold it when the mysterious object also cut his fingers. He looked at the object - a lone arrow was embedded in the stone of the rooftop door - Damian looked in the direction of the arrow and his eyes narrowed as he laid them upon the one who shot the arrow.]

[A lone figure stood on the roof with him, dressed in black attire with a black wolf mask that covered the eyes and nose of the person and a golden crest on their shoulder with the name 'ARTEMIS' written in black writing. From what Damian could see, the person had tan skin, and short black hair but he couldn't see their eye color. The Hunter was armed with an arrow loaded in a bow, pointing it at Damian, and a short sword on their black - a katana. Damian rose to his feet and glared at the Hunter before pulling his sword out of its sheath.]

Damian (Points sword at the Hunter before him): What the hell are you doing? You're getting in my way.

Hunter (With a female voice - a woman): You were aiming for someone who is under my protection.

Damian (Raises an eyebrow): Your protection? Just who the hell are you?

Huntress: I am a Huntress of Artemis and that's all you need to know. Well, that's a lie. You need to understand that the Blake Family is under the protection of the Hunters of Artemis and if you go against them, we will come to protect them and put you in your place. Now, you have missed your mark, leave this place and never return.

Damian: Never. I won't stop until I accomplished my mission. I have too much at stake here to just give up because some 'Bat Family' Wannabe demands me to.

Huntress (Scoffs): You fail to realize that I have nothing to do with the Bat Family, nor do I wish to be like them. The Order of Artemis is much older than the Bat Family's Presence in Gotham and you are overstepping your bounds, boy. Leave the Blake Family alone or deal with us.

[Damian watched as Tobias drove away in his car before he charged at the Huntress of Artemis with his sword and roared in anger - his target got away and he was pissed off about it. He swung his sword at the female under the mask before she jumped away and pulled out her sword before placing her bow away. A fight was going to ensue. For the past twenty minutes, Damian swung his sword and used the skills his father and mother steeled inside of him but they were nothing compared to the Huntress of Artemis. The battle ended when the Huntress grabbed his wrist and lifted her knee to crash it into the side of his elbow, making it bend, and shattering it, making the boy scream in pain before roundhouse kicking him in the chest to make him slide against the roof until he came to a stop. Damian grunted as he picked himself off the ground, holding his broken arm as he growled at the girl before him.]

Damian: How? Who the hell are you?

Huntress (Places her sword back in her sheath and turned away from Robin): As I have said, I am a Huntress of Artemis and I am a protector. Leave the Blake Family alone...or I'll break more than your arm. (Runs and jumps to the next roof before disappearing in the darkness of the night)

[Damian released his arm and placed his hand over the intercom in his ear.]

Damian: Father... we have a problem.

Naahhh NAHHH This Isnt Us . theyre perfect and they protect and love each other. kimiko literally gets back her powers that she loathed before because she reclaimed the circumstances and changed it. she uses her powers to protect frenchie. frenchie loves and cares for her. they balance each other and support each other. frenchie literally learns HER SPECIFIC LANGUAGE that she and her brother INVENTED for each other to speak to her. they would do anything for each other. my god. theyre so romantic in the most platonic way possible. literally. peak qpr. it doesnt get better than this. canon fucking qpr.

4. what is the plot bunny you’ve been carrying for the longest? optional bonus question: do you ever wonder why you haven’t written it yet and experience deep existential dread?

The first story idea I ever came up with for Transformers/IDW MegOP is a novel idea named "The Blade Called Trust", I literally thought it was going to be my first Transformers fic until the initial concept of Pay Unto Evil came to mind and supplanted it (as I had more/better plot ideas to make an outline).

The main reason I haven't worked on it is because TBCT is intended to be (even when I first conceived it) a magnum opus of IDW MegOP as well as possibly even IDW1 as a whole. It's not just gonna be megop-centric, but it's also going to be me picking and choosing my favorite parts of IDW1 and remixing them into my own fic that's basically an "alternate continuity" of sorts. Though not a fix-it fic so much as as it is a love letter to IDW1, making my own version of it but also paying homage to all of the coolest parts of it IMO.

As such, it's a super mega intense project that I need to do another read of IDW1 so that I can refresh myself on the lore, favorite characters, plotlines/themes I would've liked to see more of, etc. And THEN I can make a proper outline for it, and once that happens I'm home free to actually start writing.

23. how do you deal with writers block?

Cry into my friends' DMs lamenting the limitations of my mortal form and why it is I can't be 100% creative and energized all of the time (not joking, my hubris is real bad). Suffer and wait for it to be over. Get really depressed about it. Usually focus on my other hobbies (gardening, sewing) while I wait for the writing juice to come back.

26. do you like to write one-shots or series, and why?

I don't have a preference. If an idea is meant to be a one-shot, I'm happy to write it as a one-shot. If it's meant to be a series/multichapter, likewise. I think being able to write a one-off piece that scratches some brain itch idea I had in my mind is just as good as an idea that takes multiple chapters/pieces to fully realize.

47. what story are you most proud of?

NOOOOO DON'T ASK ME TO BE PROUD OF MYSELF NOOOOO

Somewhat surprisingly I think it's actually An Endless Form Most Beautiful. I reread that fic somewhat recently trying to motivate myself to finish chapter 10, and holy absolute fuck. Past me was a genius writing it. The pacing is perfect. The slow tension and reveal of OP's backstory is also perfect. The romance between OP and Megatron feels natural and develops in a very deep way throughout the fic, centered on them developing trust and sharing their deepest thoughts/fears/goals/affirmations to each other. Impactor is an amazing secondary protagonist whose platonic love for Megatron hits just as hard as the main romantic plot between Orion and Megatron. The recurring themes of community, friendship, love, and collective support are CONSTANT and reinforced by basically everything that happens in the plot. Past me was a genius. I don't understand why I was so worried about the romance feeling unnatural/rushed or the themes being poorly represented.

I don't really like to compare my longfics to each other since I think each is different, but I think the entirety of AEFMB has thematic strength comparable to the epilogue chapters of Pay Unto Evil. Everything is so tightly knit together, but instead of PUE where the themes of mercy/restorative justice were basically an emotional payoff for a long story of suffering and hard choices, AEFMB's themes are a long, slow burn that keep the reader warm throughout the length of the fic, giving it a much more optimistic feeling.

That being said I'm also really proud of Pay Unto Evil for being the first novel-length story I've ever completed. And also for the fact that people keep leaving me comments saying how deeply the story impacted them or made them cry or gave them hope in happy endings.

65. what is your favourite title for a fic you’ve written? 

Pay Unto Evil is probably my favorite, given how succinctly it summarizes the theme of the entire fic. When you first pick it up, I imagine some readers might take "pay unto evil" to be phrased as a sort of declarative statement, an implication that this fic is going to be about karma and people getting what they deserve based on their past actions. But then you read on through the fic all the way to the end (or you already recognize/know the Bible verse the title is stolen from) and realize the actual plot/theme is quite the opposite.

It's a short, catchy, clever, deceptive (if you don't know the original quote it came from), insightful (if you do know the original quote) and meaningful title all in one. Technically a fic title only needs to make some kind of sense to be "good," but it's always nice as a writer when you find that title that's a real ZINGER, as clever and profound as something that would be published as an actual great work of literature.

But also, shout out to one of my Tarnma one-shots little death because even though it's quite a generic/cheesy title (everyone knows that "little death" is based on a French euphemism for orgasming sdlfdjlsk), it feels really fitting for how cheesy and romantic Pharma and Tarn are for each other in that fic, as well as the fact that Pharma having sparkplay done on him via Tarn's voice literally is flirting with death in a way. Thus, little death.

Other shout-outs: Love's Harvest, Of Tides Inevitable, and the joke titles of the one-shot Not According to Plan leading to a sequel fic called Exactly According to Plan. Besides that I literally get most of my fic titles from stealing song lyrics and/or lines of poetry so lmao 😂😂😂

Anime - Yes. I'll admit it's crunchy, poorly paced, and disappointing because the studio went under literally a few days after it finished airing and it shows, but it’s still fun? They did cut stuff from the manga and there's so much they didn't adapt, so I'd recommend reading it. I'm begging for a remake and a season 2 or something...

We've got a meaty post today, lads! Sit down, because I'm going to gush about the series that's going in my all-time favs and I've made it my whole personality lately. I'm here to push the GANGSTA. agenda!!! I’m about to be so damn annoying.

Back in 2015 I was going through college hell and wanted something to chill with during my meager downtime. And so the GANGSTA. anime answered the call. Watching TV while shoveling food into my face was my only free time.

A whopping 8 YEARS later now that I'm a freelancer and have a flexible schedule allowing me to get into manga more than ever before, among other factors, it was finally time for me to pick this up. Naturally, I forgot a lot over the years, plus having consumed the anime in my suffering college student frenzy, much of my memory is fuzzy. What I DO remember is that the setting and aesthetics were cool, I loved the characters, and I was mad crushing on Nicolas Brown.

I'm pleased to report that after rewatching the anime and reading the manga, the me of 8 years ago had excellent taste.

Disabled main character- Nicolas is deaf, mainly communicates in sign language, and I personally feel like the way it's handled is awesome (more on that in the character analysis). There are also great portrayals of mental illnesses.

You can tell it was written by a female author if you know what I mean... Hear me out, I get into this more later. Please don't roll your eyes at me. I'm going somewhere with this.

Other than GANGSTA. I'm specifically thinking of Dorohedoro right now. It's the only time I've ever laughed at a boob joke and the whole, "Oh no, I walked in on a girl naked" joke and all that. Also, the bikini top/scantly clad outfits in that series don't give me the ick. Don't ask me to explain, I can just taste it. It's the execution.

While there are characters who are in romantic/sexual relationships, there are also a lot of platonic/familial relationships as well. I like romance as much as the next person and I can get really sappy sometimes, but I also want more non-romantic relationships between men and women. Sorta tired of the whole "a man and woman are in the same vicinity so they must bang, they HAVE to pair up". Again, love me some romance, but more of the other stuff too, please! And GANGSTA. delivers wonderfully. Some of the best depictions of the dynamic I crave that I've ever seen.

Look me in the eyes and try telling me this isn't the best thing ever. My man kicked a cop car in to stand up for Alex so they could save her and take her home!!! Also, Nic is voiced by Tsuda Kenjiro, the VA behind my other fictional crush, JJK's Nanami 'Husband-Material' Kento! Fair warning, I'm not going to shut up about Nic.

I have to admit, it’s difficult for me to wholeheartedly recommend the anime because of what I mentioned at the very top of the post. The voice actors were the best part of the anime, while the animation was… meh, and the pacing is not great. But it's still enjoyable! The manga destroyed me so good, though…

BTW if you're one of those people who are hesitant to get into a series that's on hiatus like my bestie, she HATES reading stuff on hiatus, I implore you to give it a go anyways. I successfully roped bestie into committing hehehe. It managed to absolutely wreck me in 8+ volumes. It's so worth it and I was very happy with how the last currently out chapter (#56) ended.

In case you were wondering... No, I still haven't recovered from Banana Fish.

There's also a completed spin-off series, GANGSTA: CURSED (I enjoyed it. I like action but it was almost too action-heavy for me. My fav parts of the main series are the quiet moments), a light novel GANGSTA: Death of Anosmic Stray Dogs (it was okay, Nic was funny but not enough of him, tbh I’ve read better fanfics), and drama CD's. I actually ordered the drama CD's to listen to later, but I'm traveling right now, and idk when I'll be home to pick up my package, so... And I read the extra manga that came with the Japanese Blu-rays (I enjoyed it).

What's It About?

Our boys Nicolas and Worick are the local "Handymen" doing odd jobs from deliveries and construction, to prostitution and homicide. They go way back, but their relationship is much more complicated than it initially seems.

The grungy city of Ergastulum is essentially an open-air internment camp. For who? Superhumans known as "Twilights", also called "Tags" for the tags they're required to wear. Twilights are the descendants of those who took the drug, Cerebret, developed during wartime to create enhanced soldiers. Their children inherit these qualities —making them an unintended consequence — but with a catch. They are forever dependent on consistent doses of Cerebret to stay alive and keep their bodies from shutting down. At the same time, however, it slowly poisons them, significantly slashing their lifespans. They are kept under surveillance, having been herded into Ergastulum, and xenophobia between them and the "Normal" non-Twilight refugees who settled there is constantly brewing. The Cerebret they need to survive is strictly regulated, expensive, and used to keep the Twilights on a short leash. They are in many ways, second-class citizens.

If you watched until the end of the Nicolas Brown propaganda video like I'm sure you totally did, you would have seen the tags dangling around Nic's neck — meaning that Nic is a Twilight. And in order to operate, he needs to be in a contract under someone. This contract puts the holder in ownership of the Twilight. In Nic's case, his contract holder is longtime friend and fellow Handyman, Worick. I'm sure you can imagine that it puts a certain strain on their relationship... Your BFF and roommate legally owning you even if it's to protect you? Awkward.

To make matters worse, Nic is running out of time, fast. The Cerebret, like I said, shortens the lifespan of Twilights. Various factors come into play regarding lifespan, but on average, they live into their 30's. And Nic is already 34 years old. I am... stressed, to say the least. I don’t know how he's going to pull through guys, I really don't.

Genuinely concerned for Nic's well-being. I don't trust Kohske to pull her punches...

Enter Alex — a prostitute the Handymen take off the street and offer refuge to. We learn about the city, the boys, the factions at play, and more alongside Alex, who has been thrown into this world. Worick is a charming sweetheart who I think sees a lot of himself in Alex, especially since he's been working as a gigolo from a VERY young age. And Nico despite his seemingly harsh exterior, is so damn kind and soft... They all are. I love my found family of traumatized dorks *sobs*

It's not all doom and gloom, though! We have funny, silly, cute-as-hell moments, too. And the domestic scenes? The quite, tender moments? Love. Obsessed.

I like how Nic is holding his old wanted poster with his face in the first panel like he's wearing it as a mask or something. And they're in separate interrogation rooms with glass between them but they can still communicate because Nic can read lips and Worick knows sign language. Clowns, the lot of them.

I admit at first, GANGSTA. seems like a kinda lame title. Like, as a native English speaker, if someone told me to check out a series with this title, it would give me pause lol. It really has that late 2000's to early 2010's aesthetic, edgy themes, plus the whole "Twilights" term — which when combined may make you think, "Yo, this looks lame," especially if you were a teen during that time. "Twilight" just makes me think of that Twilight, but we're ignoring that. For me, my teen years were cringe, and I'm sure many of you feel the same. But you know what? Mangaka Kohske-sensei rocks this vibe! She makes it cool! And now that I'm older, it's like, whatever embrace cringe, have fun and all that, y'know? So, GANGSTA. is great and totally not cringe in any way, hush.

She loves edgy characters — and eyepatches. Gosh, she loves eyepatches. And good for her! You do you, queen! I can dig it.

Bonus Nico because he's so damn cute. Love of my life.

But listen, this manga is deceptively deep, guys. You might think at first it’s simply crime, drugs, sex, and violence... But no! There’s more to it. The crime, drugs, sex, and violence are used to great effect instead of just edgy for the sake of being edgy. The plot is great and all, but the real bread and butter for me with this series are the ✨characters✨. I don't care if you have the sickest plot on the face of the planet. If I'm not obsessed with your characters... what are we doing here then?

Seriously, if I'm not willing to cut a bitch for your characters, try again.

Lots And Lots of Character Analysis (And Gushing)

Goodness, where do I even start? So many good characters and moments to over-analyze! There's a boatload of stuff I want to talk about and I'm going to try and make it make sense. I’ll gradually dig deeper and deeper into the squad’s character. I do think I'll have to primarily focus on the main trio, or else my hands are going to fall off from all the typing.

Kohske-sensei doesn't spoonfeed us and doesn't treat us like we're dumb. You know when writers don't trust their audience to get something so they beat us over the head with it? Yeah, no, none of that here. Because a lot is implied or hinted at, this is going to be my interpretation of things. If you have a different take, I'd love to hear it! I'm going to just dive into the analysis with any evidence to support my claims, so I'm assuming you already know the story (or maybe come back later after reading the manga?) because from this point...

***SPOILERS UNTIL CHAPTER 56 FROM HERE ON OUT***

This section will be broken up into: Where It All Began - Nicolas and Nina - "Nice vs. Kind" - Worick and Alex - Nicolas and Alex - Nicolas and Worick - Nicolas - The Trio and The Scene That Had Me Bawling My Eyes Out - Brief Shoutouts to Characters I Also Want to Talk About, But This Post Is Already Long Enough

I'm about to get really sappy, so uh, here goes nothing.

(Note: the manga pages/panels I included for reference are arranged from right to left reading order btw)

Where It All Began

Let's start... at the beginning! The hankie. The first chapter establishes what kind of characterization we can expect from our main cast.

When we first meet our trio, Nic and Worick are leaning on a wall overlooking the city while Alex walks below, bleeding. And then, a handkerchief lands on her head. At first, it's not clear which of the Handymen dropped it down to her, but we're led to believe it was Worick as Nic had his back to the wall.

This is the first panel of Nic that made me go, "Well, hello there, sir 👀💦" Don't judge me. And like, why are half the buttons on his shirt undone? Worick too, LMAO. Not that I'm complaining..........

However, when Alex later thanks Worick for the handkerchief, he tells her it was actually Nic's. Awww, cute...

When the Handymen are hired to take out a gang, it turns out Alex is one of the prostitutes in the gang and therefore is going to be taken out by association. But the boys aren't too keen on this, which results in us getting the glorious Nicolas Brown propaganda scene I included earlier in this post. They claim her as their spoils after taking out the gang in order to keep her safe and get her off the streets. They even throw their weight around with the police by threatening to bash their heads in to do so.

This is all to say that while we see the boys do unsavory things like gleefully murder, we can see already that they're nuanced and SO DAMN KIND. They didn't have to do any of it. They had no reason to. They don't gain anything from it, nor do they expect to (more on this later).

Confirmed: They drink respect-women-juice. King shit.

The next day, we see that Nic seems to be acting pretty coldly with Alex. Right away, I took this as he's having a hard time opening up to her despite everything he did the day before to help her at no benefit to himself including saving her from a passed-out Worick LMAO. It's like... he's scared to get close. He doesn't mind her presence, but he stays at arm's length. We later get hints it's probably because of Veronica and he's afraid of getting hurt or getting someone hurt again. But, while running deliveries, we get this scene:

Which to me is Nic announcing that Alex is now under his protection — a fearsome rank A/0 Twilight. Yeah, it's to keep Worick's clients happy, but I think it's protection for her, too. They haven't known each other for a full 24 hours yet and the boys are already like, "Yeah she's with us. Leave her alone."

Nicolas and Nina

When we meet the absolutely precious Nina, we see a lot more of Nic's overt soft side. It's obvious he loves Nina a lot and is super affectionate with her and sees her as his little sister. And she very much loves him back!

I turn into a blubbering puddle of goop every time these two interact.

He goes out of his way to buy her the drinks she likes, holds her hand whenever they walk together, teases her, plays with her, comforts and holds her, and always keeps her safe no matter what. I could scream about every single panel they have together, but I want to highlight some of my favorite moments:

Worick disposes of the guys trying to kidnap Nina while Nic walks her to the clinic, but she stops at the sound of distant gunfire. Nic eases her anxiety by making her laugh and jokingly saying, "I didn't hear a thing," because of course a deaf man wouldn't lolllll. But he knew that she did indeed hear something because he knew what Worick was up to. But, they don't let Nina know that she was being tailed and in danger so as to not scare her.

Nina sleeps holding Nic's hand while he's passed out at the clinic, and when he wakes up he puts the blanket over her, careful not to wake her.

When Nic stays over at the clinic after he's hurt, the next day he jumps around rooftops with his superhuman agility, holding Nina close, simply to entertain this child he cares for dearly.

Alex asks Nina if she's scared of Nicolas, and while she understands Alex's hesitation, she says that, no she's not scared of him. She knows him for who he is, and not just how he seems. She knows he's actually a very soft man.

After all the patients at the clinic die, Nina is having a rough time processing her grief. She's a little girl with an enormous heart and was grieving over people she didn't even know. Nic leaves all the other grown-ups to go sit with her in his lap, against his chest, comforting her. Later, he takes her hand and walks her to Bastard to hear Alex sing and hang out with Loretta for a pick-me-up.

This scene pulls at my heart... Look at how much they love each other, and how much they feel comfortable and safe with each other. You can FEEL it.

After getting shot by Monroe and having seizures from Theo's experimental drug, Nic still tries to get up and go help the gang. Alex goes to stop him, meanwhile Nina... she looks at him with an aching heart, hurting because he's hurting. Taking his sword, she unsheathes it to reveal that it's broken. This causes Nic to have a moment where he realizes he too is broken and useless right now. So he slumps to the floor, allowing Nina to hold him. She was able to convey what she wanted to tell him — that he was in no condition to go anywhere and that she was worried about him — without saying a word.

To no one's surprise, this part had me in TEARS. So much is said with no words.

Nina puts her hands on Nic's, comforting him while he continues to be out of commission. Nic agrees to let Theo have his body to study as he's accepted his ever-looming demise, and Nina is... distraught. She cries for him. She cries while Theo tucks her into his lab coat, arm around her. I think that given Nicolas' history and trauma, having someone shed tears for him and be so gentle to him is extremely important. He spent the first 12 years of his life being abused on multiple levels and made to feel like he was nothing and then lived a harsh life even after he and Worick ran away. Having someone express this kind of emotion for him, this unfiltered love and care is important. Their casual, comfortable, and trusting tenderness is important.

"Nice vs. Kind"

I do want to emphasize that Nic isn't just kind to Nina. He and Worick are kind to everyone who isn't trying to kill them/has attracted their ire, that is. This is important to note for my next point -> Lately, I've been thinking a lot about something that I'm going to refer to as "nice vs. kind". I mentioned this in my AI Art post in a bit of a different context than we’ll be getting into here. While everything I'm going to talk about can apply to anyone, I'm going to focus on "nice guys".

Earlier, I talked about how the Handymen helped Alex without gaining anything or expecting anything in return. In fact, they're letting her bum off them and crash at their place for absolutely nothing. Combined with how our boys are good to pretty much everyone who isn't trying to kill them, I feel like this makes them truly kind instead of just "nice guys". When "nice guys" complain about how women in particular don't "give them a chance" or whatever it is they complain about, I have to laugh. You're being nice just because you want something from that person (such as getting a woman to sleep with you) or because you want to appear nice to people. In short, you're doing it only because you have an ulterior motive or something to gain — and it shows sooner or later. It's being selectively "nice" to people only when you are trying to gain.

Meanwhile, the boys don't do this at all. They aren't good to people because they're trying to gain something (unless it's work-related, they gotta eat after all). They don't care much about what people think of them or worry about "looking good". The boys follow what they believe in and act on it, even if it may seem morally grey or when it leads to them having not the greatest reputation with most people. But those who know them, know. And THAT is sexy and attractive, both in a romantic and platonic sense. When my friends are truly kind to me or anyone, I'm like, "Wow, that was so hot of you bestie."

When Nic was protecting the clinic in chapter three, Alex was scared of him. He unnerved her. Having just escaped from a man who abused her to hell and back, she was already on edge. Nic looked like an aggressive man, just like the last guy. Her initial impression is similar to the impression most people have of him. But he doesn't care about "looking good" because he's focused on doing right by those he cares about. THAT'S SOME HOT BOY SHIT!!!

Theo is great. We love Theo.

But how do I know without a shred of a doubt that they aren't expecting anything from Alex? I mean, isn't Worick having her help them with the business and do stuff for them? Yes, he is having her do stuff, but it's the intention behind it. When Worick asks Alex to man the phone while he's gone because Nic can't do it, he's giving her this task for her own sake. It's to make her feel included and useful and not feel like a burden, but without asking too much of her. I come from a culture that practices what I call "aggressive hospitality". What I mean is, for example, my friends will refuse to let me help clean up after dinner — and aggressively so — because I'm the guest. But I hate this because I feel useless and I'm just awkwardly watching you do all the work when I have two perfectly good hands. Like, PLEASE give me something to do, anything. And that's what Worick is doing for Alex! His asking her to do these little things is a kindness from him to her.

Besides, if Worick and Nic wanted to use Alex, they could have so easily at any time. A woman crashing with two guys after escaping an abusive pimp and is having drug withdrawals in a city where she has no one is an INSANELY vulnerable position to be in. She's quite literally easy prey. It wouldn't be unusual for someone in that situation to expect to be assaulted, to "pay with her body" in exchange.

But the Handymen, never go anywhere near that line. In fact, they completely reject the possibility, which leads us to one of my favorite scenes.

Worick and Alex

Alex's withdrawal symptoms are making her spiral and she's terrified. She needs to be useful. She needs to be useful the only way she can think of... or else. So she throws herself at Worick — but Worick shuts that shit down immediately. He doesn't entertain the possibility for a second. He refuses to use Alex. He could have taken the opportunity to "get some" but instead, he grounds her and makes her feel safe.

One of the most attractive qualities a person can have is making you feel safe, and I don't just mean physically safe. This isn't limited to what women find attractive in men or what's romantically attractive. This applies to a lot of relationships in general. (More on romance later, or rather lack of romance, because I didn't take this scene to be romantic.)

Worick went out in the rain looking for her. He saw that she picked up a John, going back to her old ways — and he never shames her for it. He just wants to take her home and is upset at himself for taking his eyes off of her. He makes it clear she owes him nothing. He reminds her that she's safe now, he's here now. And my sweet, sweet man just starts complaining to her about his crappy day in a silly, whiny manner to cheer her up and make her laugh.

He's like, "Boohoo, Nic fucked up my fancy shirt." LOLLL But seriously, I would trust this man with my life after all this.

The last line in this scene is some of the first instances of Worick being flirty with Alex, but in a way that I believe is another example of his kindness. Yeah, I said what I said. These scenes are some of the reasons that made me go, "I would bet money that this series was written by a female author." Some people might have the kneejerk reaction that these scenes are Worick being creepy, but I would argue that it's totally not the case.

When Alex visits Worick at the clinic, we get the following scene:

Alex is being hard on herself and feels ashamed. She pours out all the anxieties plaguing her mind, completely opening up to Worick. I don't know about you guys, but admitting how I really feel to someone, especially someone I care about and who I want to like me back in such a raw way is one of the scariest things you can do. What if they reject me? Or hate me? Will they think less of me?

But Worick brushes all this away so easily, again, never judging her. And again, he gives her something to do, to look forward to, with the promise of a song. Again, he gets flirty with her, joking around to lighten her mood.

"He's inappropriately touching her, though! How can you say that's kindness?"

Worick and Alex are both sex workers and have been from a young age. They both have trauma surrounding it. They understand each other in a way others can't. If Worick was invading everyone's bubbles and getting all touchy-feely with them, then I'd say yeah, he's being a creep. But he only does this with Alex. And while Alex might playfully smack him when he does, she's never really uncomfortable. She knows that he's doing this to cheer her up (and Worick uses humor as a coping mechanism — you can't fool me, sir. I have you CLOCKED).

If it actually made her uncomfortable, Worick would stop right away. He's earned her trust and continues to do so. This is what the banter and camaraderie between them looks like. It's like when I affectionately call my friend a "bitch" and say "I hate you" because we have an understanding with one another. If I did that with everyone, I would be an asshole. Meanwhile, my friend's mom yelled at her to be nice to me before I dump her ass. I was like, "Auntie... What are you talking about? We're literally having a brunch date together right now." LMAO, that's just how our relationship is and it works for us. In the pages above, you can see them horsing around, Alex "reprimanding" Worick for being a "perv" but quickly dropping her head on his chest and snuggling up to him. SHE FEELS SAFE WITH HIM!

AND HE FEELS SAFE WITH HER!!!!!!!

I didn't take this scene as romantic either btw.

Hurt/comfort, strong sibling relationships, intimate platonic friendships, discussions/portrayal of anxiety and emotional overload, becoming aware of and confronting one's flaws, protective vs protected, character foils, rivals/enemies/dislike to friends, dicussions/portrayal of grief, casual affection, expressions or declarations of love in every mundane way, emotional introspection, and banter.

I write mostly fantasy (low, urban, sff, paranormal) or surreal contemporary fiction.

My favorite things to read are more or less what I like to write. I adore fantasy, always have. I do enjoy a romance arc but specifically for how it affects the characters and not for the romance itself. I enjoy yearning when there's other stuff going on, not by itself. But I love it when there isn't romance or it's not the main focus. Bitterblue, one of my favorite novels, walks this line really well. I love, love, love to read hurt/comfort. I think it stems from how I find myself craving comfort (affection, closeness - literally since birth, lol) and I like giving comfort. I don't like hurt without comfort. I love, love, love brother or brother adjacent dynamics. I only have sisters, so maybe that's why? I've spent my life collecting all the brothers who would take me.

I love a good piece of introspection, a well-written description of a poor mental state, delicious metaphors that slip into otherwise fairly simple text to illuminate the vibes. And I really, really, really appreciate comfortable, casual, continual touch. It's my love language and I love to see it.

Anything else? Oh, I love fainting. It's like my favorite thing. Even when it makes no sense or the character doesn't wake up for HOURS which is so unrealistic, or when obviously they have a concussion or whatever. I love it, whether it's silly or serious. And I write it, too, either silly or serious. Sometimes I am medically accurate. Sometimes I am not *cough* the sounds in silence *cough*.

- love for literally anything pays his rent /hj - he can give himself actual pupils if he wants he just doesnt want to - despite his tag being 'the incubus' on my blog he doesnt actually do what incubus' do. he feeds off of love for things, from real romantic love of others or passions for media, anything. even platonic love will do, it just doesnt give as much energy - sometimes this has a bad effect and drains the love entirely. he has accidentally broken up like 4 couples but its fiinnneeee it was an accident - does he actually like the concept of love ? debatable -before settling on black and white being his thing he tried white and purple. was not a fan but he still loves purple (specifically neon ones,,,) - candy addict please give him a few pieces of your halloween candy he will love you for forever . - this mf SQUEAKS when you touch his horns - carries a lantern because his eyes make it hard for him to see things that are close by. having a large source of light helps - not intentionally a troublemaker it just follows him wherever he goes - claims he was always a demon but hes too strangely humanlike in comparison to other demons. many suspicions from others - tried wearing makeup, decided he wasnt good at it. just eyeliner and lipstick for him thank you very much - can possess magic but its draining. he prefers to save his energy and only uses it when he has to - probably smokes - probably lives in blackwood manor he's just out all the time during halloween to collect more energy for hibernating so he just lets ghost go free. no clue that people are hunting them - oh yeah he hibernates like a bear. sleepy during winter months

terrible sorry about the anon op. i personally adore your “arthur aldwin” and “alfred fitzgerald jones” thing because it’s so in character, hetalia or not. regardless nobody can deny hetalia and the other country fandoms have a lot of overlap at times, especially when hetalia headcanons could also perfectly apply to something else. as both a ch fan and a hetalia fan myself, so so so many of my headcanons end up overlapping. i don’t post about ch at all but many of my hetalia headcanons have in part been from varying degrees from almost identical to barely a smidge inspired by my original ch headcanons.

also i would like to make it clear to previous anon that A) headcanons don’t have to inherently follow canon, you can do whatever you want and B) ch doesn’t have a canon at all so theoretically you could basically call ch america “alfred f jones” and it wouldn’t be incorrect in the slightest. also lastly it was so entitled of them to try and force how others choose to play with canon.

but yeah anyways i fucking love your work and it fits so well with both ch and hetalia. it’s not just about adding on to canon but also giving it your own unique fanon twist that isn’t conventional but oh my god fits so so so well. your work is like a statement piece of jewellery where it may be a bit unconventional at times as it doesn’t always follow what you expect but it’s so eye catching and fits the rest of the outfit well with its uniqueness.

While I obsess over that analogy, uh, fun fact: this blog wasn’t even originally created in order to talk about my ocs. It was started after a mutual gave me the confidence to not cringe at what I love, and I built this to be an archive of things from other people that reminded me of my guys or that I just love in general. I’ve been collecting joy from my hetalia cousins for way longer than this. Now that I hear some of y’all like the concept of my own universe then perhaps I’ll make more posts about it (I uh, may have an entire au I made in that friend’s dms which then just became straight up pieces of my-arthur’s lore)

And, fun fact numero dos: the entirety of everything I know about hetalia canon is second hand. I’ve watched as many clips as I can get my hands on but…I’ve never watched a single episode and don’t have the ability too (yeah yeah fifteen men on a dead man’s chest but my mom raised me to have a panic attack any time I get near downloading something off the web) so literally I’m not even making my own fanon for it, I just receive joy via the hetalia fandom because we overlap so much. Like I’ve said before, this universe is like…the child of 1 third origins in the CH sphere, 1 third ruminating in my mind for years as I obsessed over geography/political history, and 1 third recent hetalia-fanon influence. Oh and there’s one glaring difference via character design but I’m not a fan artist anyway so *shrug*

I also find the dissonance so funny of this blog getting into a skirmish over canonicity when on my other blog + my favorite discord we routinely hunt canon (of another media) for sport and are actively rewriting the entire series ourselves a dozen times over pftt

I haven't answered this before!! I have posted about my favourite characters before - reblogging gifsets and such, but I have never made an official list of my favourite characters. So I thought this would be interesting. Based on this, I decided to do an official list of

My Top Ten Favourite Characters In The Walking Dead

Fair warning: This list contains spoilers for the show. If you are just watching the show for the first time, or if you have never seen it before and you want to watch it spoiler-free, then don't read this list. It contains mentions of character deaths and major plot points from the show.

Honorable Mentions: Gareth (probably my favourite villain from the whole show), Noah (such a great character, saddest death), Carol (her character arc is so good that it makes me wanna vomit confetti), T-Dog (they wasted his character so much it makes me wanna cry sometimes), Sasha (such an amazing badass and I love her soft, sweet moments, and her death literally had me screaming), Andrea (I love the display of a sister/sister dynamic with her and Amy, and I love how they showed her struggle with mental health and suicidal ideation and being left behind). OH FUCK I ALMOST FORGOT (because I haven't watched their seasons in a while, I have an excuse) - King Ezekiel (he is so sexy and like he has a TIGER and the way he talks is so beautiful I don't care if it's theater kid bs), Jerry (I love him so much I need to write a fic about him some day), Aaron (Rick tying him to a pole and forcing him to eat applesauce as a form of torture will forever live on in my mind as peak comedy).

There is actually very few characters from the show I dislike - even when it comes to the villains, I feel like they have their merit and their place in the show. But here are my top ten characters in the show that I will always cheer on and scream when they come on screen

10. Dale Horvath

I love Dale so fucking much.

I have mentioned this before, but a lot of the time people adopt blorbos from shows romantically (like a boyfriend or a wife), or platonically as a best friend, or sometimes even as a child you want to take care of (like the Stranger Things kids) - but I am someone, who, at an alarming rate, adopts blorbos who I want to be my father.

I have such a wide blorbo collection of father figures. Gideon from Criminal Minds, John from the Saw films - the list goes on.

Dale is my father. I love him so much as a father.

Right from the moment he made that speech around the fire about 'this watch will suit you no better than it suited me, no better than it suited his father or his father before him' - it was so DAD. and him talking about fixing the fucking radiator hose, and begging them all to save Randall. Like I love how compassionate he is, and how he is so slow and caring. And I hate that the actor left the show, but I love how it adds this symbolism - that Dale is not suited for their world. The world was turning too dark for him.

He is a character who brings something amazing for me every single time he's on screen. I love him so much.

9. Bob Stookey

I love Bob!!

I am so, so in love with the Bob/Sasha ship, and how she unintentionally saved him from slipping back into alcoholism and that stupid game they play where she says something negative and he puts a positive spin on it - it the definition of grumpy grump and sunshine person. I love it so much.

But I would have to say that Bob is slightly more my favourite of the two.

I love his upbeat attitude, and even though I wish that he would have stuck around longer (like with a lot of the characters who were killed off too soon) - his death was so perfectly jarring. I feel like a lot of people say that The Walking Dead isn't scary, which I don't fully get? There is a lot of terrifying parts to it, and Bob's death is absolutely one of them. His death feels like a set piece from a horror film. Him seeing his own severed leg on the fire and screaming 'tainted meat!! tainted meat!!!' is one of the most wonderfully horrifying things ever. And it does make me like his character more because I love the horror of it.

I also think his backstory is so interesting.

Him being alone for so long and finally finding a family at the prison - it hit me. Ooof.

(The next characters, I am having such a hard time putting in order because I love them all so much.)

8. Beth Greene

I don't see a lot of people saying that Beth is their favourite character, and I don't get it?

I know that it's very easy to view soft female characters as weak, but honestly - I love Beth's weakness. Her jump towards suicide when finding out the truly hopeless situation is so relatable (how many fucking people make memes about 'why do people wanna survive the apocalypse, I would just die!!!') - but they mock her at the same time?

And when Rick was out to lunch and Lori had died, Beth stepped up and took care of an infant when she was just a teenager and it was not at all supposed to be her responsibility and there was plenty of other adults around to do it - but she took pride in taking care of the baby and fostering new life.

I feel like a lot of people don't see the silent strength in her character, and while her death is sad because of how it affected Daryl and Maggie, I think it's sadder because of the lost potential of her character. I would have loved to see how she did in Alexandria. How jarring a quaint community was to her after everything she had been through.

Also - I was one of the people who shipped her and Noah. And can you imagine the what the storyline would have been like, paralleling her random boyfriend's death at the BigStop with Noah's death?? Like - emotionally detatched Beth vs Beth who is just learning to feel again???

Devastating.

Also - a lot of people say that Still is one of the worst episodes because it's boring, but I think it is by far one of the best episodes in the show. It's part of why I love TWD - because it's raw, slow character work. I fucking love it. It's one of my favourite Beth episodes (and it's one of the things that made me love Daryl).

7. Tara Chambler

A character that I was not expecting to like as much as I do. When she introduced herself as a cop and did the whole 'hey, hey, buddy, this isn't the four seasons' to the Governor leading his plate outside (like, it is the Governor, but she came off as too rude) - finding out that her being rude was just terrified gay cat posturing is hilarious.

And she is not only one of my favourite TWD characters, but she is one of my favourite characters of all time.

I can't even describe all the ways I love her. The fact that she is Glenn's ride or die and they have the Lesbian and Lesbian Protector vibes going on, the fact that she is funny, sweet, awkward, dorky, cute. Her saying 'I know you're scared, and I know it sucks, but you have to be brave right now' - is eternally stuck in my head. And it helps me get through everyday life.

I just love her so much. She is so precious to me.

6. Abraham Ford

The love of my life. Every time he opens his mouth, I feel inspired to kick god's ass.

I wasn't too sure about him when he first came on the show because he was disrupting Gleggie, but then - I learned to love him so fucking quick. I love the way he talks, I love his attitude, I love how imposing he is.

"When you were pourin' the Bisquik... do you intend to make pancakes?"

He. Is. Iconic.

Now, every single time that fucking truck pulls up beside Glenn's unconscious body, I scream. Because GREATM is the greatest squad of all time (it was back when Eugene was still tolerable).

Even without Maggie, they were GREAT. (puns <3)

5. Michonne

I have said this before, but I feel like she is such an underappreciated character outside of her relationship with Rick.

I love her in the earlier seasons - how her showing kindness to Andrea and taking her in unintentionally gives her good faith with Rick's group and ends up giving her a home with them later on - even the utter coincidence of her overhearing Maggie and Glenn being kidnapped and taking the formula to Judith.

I also just love her dynamic with Andrea.

"We need a couple of days to get our shit together."

"My shit never stopped being together."

(That will never not be funny to me.)

And I love how she is a character who is presented with such a tough outer shell, but she is slowly revealed to have a softer side, when interacting with Judith and Carl. I really love her when she first comes onto the show, and I wish they wouldn't have tried to cut away her edges and just put her in Lori's place. (Maybe the new show will bring back more of the old aspects of her character - the toughness with only showing a soft side around family. But idk)

4. Daryl Dixon

He is definitely one of my favourite characters of all time.

Again, a character that I didn't like when he was first introduced on the show (but I think that is the intention and part of the beauty of it) - and it's fun to rewatch the beginning of the show and laugh at how much of an asshole he is when he's first introduced.

I think it's truly iconic that his first line in the show is "son of a bitch!" like, it says so much about his character in the best way.

His evolution from asshole loner to the emotional core of the group and one of the leaders is so well done, and the way he handles himself around children is so sexy. I don't know if I have said this before, but I am often attracted to characters based on their actions rather than their looks, and he is absolutely one of those characters. I wanna fuck him senseless because he makes children a priority in his life and because he is very selfless. OOOOOOF

3. Rosita Espinosa

I need to write a fanfic about her!!! It is something that needs to be on my priority list! I need to write a fic about how she finds out that she is a lesbian during the apocalypse, especially after all the men she has dated. it would be amazing

Anyway - I'm in love with her. Her short shorts are one of the reasons I'm gay. those shorts had a very special impact on me during my teen years.

I love how one of the general themes of TWD is breaking down gender barriers, and her character represents that so much. she is so fucking powerful, and I love it. I also love how the actress got the character killed off in the most 'last hurrah' peaceful way possible in the last episode just so she couldn't be brought back for any reboots. hilarious

2. Maggie Greene (Rhee)

I don't even know what I can say about Maggie

"Some chick came in like Zorro on a horse and took Lori. It was awesome"

Maggie presents like this demure little farm girl at first, and then she seamlessly rides her horse and takes out Walkers at the same time - she has no problem mastering a gun, or any other weapon she is given. she is one of those characters who somehow looks stunningly gorgeous while filthy and sweaty. she is smart, badass, holds herself so well.

I love her so much.

and as I have said so many times before - I need to be in a Gleggie sandwhich. I need it. (I feel like being in a poly relationship with Abraham, Rosita, Tara, Maggie, and Glenn would be the best part of my post apocalyptic life, but hey - who's gonna write that fanfic? maybe me.)

1. Glenn Rhee

What else can I say about Glenn?

If you have been following me for more than five minutes, you have heard me talk about how fucking much I love Glenn. He is easily my singular favourite character of all time. Right from the moment I first heard his voice inside the tank, I fell in love with him.

He was the first character I ever wrote death denial fanfiction for, and at the time, it was the only twd fandom thing I had posted on my all kpop fanfiction blog. And I didn't even care if anybody else read it or care about it - I wrote it and posted it because I needed to mourn. Because his character death hit me so hard, and I am still 100% in denial of his character death to his day. I pretend it never happened.

Anyway - I love Glenn so much!

He is the hopeful one of the show, he is the heart of the show. Everything he does in the show matters so much to me. The fact that he always lifts them up and reminds them who they are matters to me. He had to die for the group to go in such a dark and hopeless direction. And he will always have such a special place in my heart.
