Callum has asked Rayla twice now to kill him if he's ever corrupted again. This time as like a barter. And this time, despite looking devastated, she finally (begrudgingly) agrees. And later this season, Callum is cleared of his dark magic corruption, but it also warned that if he does dark magic again it'll overwhelm him.
Man my dreams have already been haunted enough by death foreshadowing I can't take much more of it for these two.

Real shit tho, just gonna reminisce here, gonna be a lil earnest and all: Homestuck was my first ever fandom back in 2016. What introduced me to fandom, and helped me really get into art. It's what drove me to WANT to get better at art so I could bring characters I loved to life and have them look as I envisioned them in my mind.
Karkat was my favorite and I really resonated with him, he was the first character I ever felt really, really attached to. I met so many great people, so many friends, a fun community for the most part. It was such an important part of my life, too, during a very bumpy time in my life.
For the first time in my little middle school life I felt a real sense of belonging. It helped me explore self expression, allowed me self expression in healthier ways, in a multitude of ways. It was the first place I could explore my queer identity, especially my transness, and be met with understanding. Where people really understood, ykno? Not even queerness, but just.. met me with understanding with how life can be sometimes.
Have people who were older than me treat me fairly as a kid, who gave great life advice, who didn't mind indulging me when I got hyper over my interests or characters I loved. It's probably ironic in some ass backwards way, but I don't think I'd be as mature as I am either, or, at least, know half the things I know now. I wouldn't be half the queermo I am today if it weren't for these funky little space aliens and the really cool and smart and creative people I met. It opened my eyes in a lot of ways. And I just... I dunno.
I might not be stuck in the house anymore but It's like driving down the road to look at my old childhood home once in a while just to sigh all wistfully a little before returning to the one I live at now :) ty karkat 4 being the guy of all time and sticking with me thru my formative years <3

#pokemon rejuvenation#oc bracket#mona#mona's first run#art#this has been sitting in my files since may and ive slowly chipped at it till now. my god.#im like. half happy with it. i enjoyed making it and put a lot of thought. however.#the passage of time. i loathed not finishing this sooner.#god its hard writing mona's dialogue. the main takeaway relies on how they face the After when paragon is complete. this is given that#everyone lives including Ren.#and the general unanswered question if they remain as the interceptor after xenpurgis. or if they're left to live. is the world still#dictated by Karma? who knows! i don't know shit! so their dialogue was made with that in question.#i want to give mona an eventual talking style. i have it in my head but writing it doesn't come out right.#this dialogue was a while ago but somewhat still accurate so i kept it for the most part.#a lot of internal thinking in them. thats smth huge i put down for them. rabbit heart rabbit brain#goes a mile a minute. craves the day where they don't have to worry about running. etc.#i hope to get dialogue down. someday.#anyways. i love the shenanigans i put down here.#the lost camp kids are not the same ones in canon i added new ones for funsies.#and mona's crush is not. rlly shown. but it is present. i like to think the obvious point for them crushing isn't rlly nervousness#but loosening up a lot more. especially facial expressions.#and renmona goes out on a shopping trip. i hope i added character to make mona unique... im v worried about that. enough of that though#anyways. had many breakdowns. suffered many art blocks. bon appetite.

i think i might just like harems when theyre toxic af
#like none of that lets get along shit and have a fair fight#or we can all share one person and be friends still (even tho the jealousy is still present????)#everyone should be trying to sabotage each other (the lvl of harm varying on the characters personality)#and put a yandere (who will kill) in the group to keep everyone on their fuckin toes too#also i think i only like harems if i personally can select who is in it!#for example me being able to block out whitney in dol (at least for now) makes a huge difference#i dont wanna engage with every person cause theres always at least one guy who bothers me#i should decide who can stay and who isnt allowed in!#GAME IDEA right here if anyone is looking to try making a dating game but something “new”#the player can also select who is the “main bitch” who is the “mistress” and everyone else can be sides lmaoo#this affects the dynamics in the group#and the dialogue and stuff#like the main li should be a bit cocky or at least they and everyone should be aware that theyre on top so theyre not as easy to target...#tho the 2nd li might be able to be more forward#2nd li should also have the fact that theyre second place thrown in their face#lol im getting too detailed here!!#i would play the hell out of this if its done well and the best format would be text based in my opinion#since there would be so much branching....#there should be dating and stuff and affection lvl raising#and i think the yandere should be violent and there should be an optional toggle to let them kill ppl#if u dont keep them in check#My biggest peeve with harems is that its just a bunch of guys cockblocking each other#and shortening time i would like to spend with specific lis#its extremely frustrating when the guy i hate drags me away from who i want to be with#and have no option to tell them to fuck off#a game where i can pick and choose and tell ppl to leave would make such a difference#and its kinda wild that dol managed to like implement it and thats not even the main point of the game!#i could make a whole post about this actually#like i just want toxic reverse harem with actual thorough choices that affect the story and who i spend the most time with#i should be allowed to neglect ppl and have the game take not of it even if its on accident

After breaking several traffic laws to get there in record time, Nick and Ace barge in to the fitting area of Delia’s Bridal Shop in Augusta to find burn marks on the plush beige carpet as well as the remnants of several broken champagne glasses scattered on the floor. Nancy is standing center stage, as it were, grasping George by the arms but they both turn in surprise when the boys enter.
“Nancy, don’t!” Nick calls, first to act as always.
“Whatever you’re feeling right now,” Ace tries to say while still catching his breath after the sprint from the parking lot, “it’s not you. It’s the—!”
“Earrings,” Nancy replies flatly. “The ones Ryan gave me to wear, from the Hudson estate.”
“Yeah,” Nick says, cautiously, throwing a baffled look in Ace’s direction. “It turns out they belonged to one of the Women in White, and she—”
“Went crazy at her own wedding and killed a bunch of the guests,” George finishes for him, with a grim smile. “So, now they’re infused with her rage.”
“Yeah,” Ace responds, feeling his heart rate hesitantly returning to normal, “and it looks like Temperance held onto them and they got passed down through the Hudsons because…”
“She’s a nightmare person from Hell,” Bess says, nodding from an overstuffed chaise nearby, somehow managing to look both exhausted and blasé at the same time.
“Wait,” Nick says, gesturing at Nancy and George, “if you’re not in the midst of some bridal meltdown, how did you know about the earrings? And what’s with this mess?”
George gives Nancy an arch look. “Someone decided it might be nice to let the salesgirl try on her spooky family heirloom jewelry because she’s just sooo friendly and accommodating.”
At Nick and Ace’s mutual confused looks, Bess gestures to the corner, where a disheveled salesgirl is tied up in dressing room curtains and snoring gently as she presumably sleeps off the side effects of the curse, then holds up what Ace recognizes as her kit of spell components that she keeps in her purse.
“Magical first aid kit,” she announces proudly before taking a swig out of the last intact champagne flute, “never leave home without it!”
“How was I supposed to know the earrings were cursed?” Nancy asks, helplessly.
“Well, they are from the Hudsons,” Nick offers, getting a universal murmur of agreement from everyone else.
“Yeah, no more gifts or relics from that side of the family, please,” Ace says, moving to put his arm around her shoulders soothingly.
“Nothing older than twenty years, I promise,” she replies, leaning into his side. “Though, Bess did break the curse on the earrings, so…”
“Nancy!” Bess yells.
“Absolutely not,” Nick puts in.
“Not happening,” Ace objects.
“Ryan is rich. He can buy you new earrings,” George says, shaking her head and going to stand with Nick.
“Fine,” Nancy grumbles. “I guess we don’t need the risk of any extra bad luck for our wedding anyway.”
“Extra bad luck?” Ace asks. “Without the earrings, what do we have to worry about?”
Nancy bites her lip and looks uncomfortably at George and Bess. “Well, I know it’s old-fashioned, but it is considered bad luck to see the bride in her dress before the ceremony and…you’re, well…”
When she gestures down at her body, Ace notices her dress for the first time. It’s…big, with a lot of layers of tulle and…a lot more rhinestones around the neckline than he could have anticipated. The minute he spots the enormous bows down the back, he catches up and slaps a hand over his eyes.
“Oh, no! I’m sorry, I didn’t even think! I was so worried about the cursed earrings that I…”
“Goddammit,” George says.
Ace looks over at her, in case something else has suddenly gone wrong, only to find Nick trying desperately not to laugh while she glares at Nancy.
“Pay up, baby!” Nancy says, with a triumphant grin.
“What,” Ace says, not even bothering to make it a question.
“George bet me 20 bucks that I wouldn’t put this dress on and be able to convince you I was going to buy it,” Nancy says, patting his chest with her palm. “I was just going to text you a photo but you made it a lot easier by showing up. You should’ve seen your face.”
“That’s so mean,” Ace says, even as relief floods through him.
“As if I’d ever choose this dress of all things.”
“I’m still coming down from a panicked adrenaline high and I feel that I should be graded on a curve as a result.”
“Does that mean I don’t have to give Nancy twenty dollars?” George asks, as she fishes a bill out of her bra.
“Hell no,” Nancy replies, snatching it out of her hands. “Weddings are expensive.”
Ace nods at the damage around them. “Yeah, and I have a feeling these guys aren’t going to give us a discount.”
“Maybe there’s a matching wedding dress in the Hudson House of Horrors you could borrow,” Nick suggests.
“Don’t even joke about that,” Nancy says, darkly, curling even further into Ace’s side.

Halfway through S2 of White Collar (thanks COVID!) and I really like the character dynamics but man they could not be moving any slower on an overarching plotline I could not care less about I'm sorry but if I have to hear "Kate" or "music box" one more time 😭🙃

#f&b fans are v dramatic about some of the changes or omissions being made in the show and i say this#as someone who was regularly livid about choices GOT made#the difference is that asoiaf is a very character focused and character driven narrative being told to us first hand from those characters#f&b is an umpteenthhand account of events that occurred MANY YEARS prior written by many varried biased and unreliable sources#it also takes a historic view of those events and all parties involved. of course some of those characters aren't going to be in the show#because it's *a show* and has a much more focused narrative about the main players in the dance i.e. the families of the blacks and greens#like i'm sorry you aren't getting to see this character you liked but may i remind you#that everything we know about many of them consists of a few paragraphs if that#i have a much easier time rolling with alterations here because while there IS source material it is very thin and leaves so much more room#for reimagining and reinterpretation. sometimes the changes are better and tell a better story.#and if you don't like those changes that is fine and well within your right but maybe just don't watch the show then?#and while i absolutely believe we need to be critical of certain narrative choices made by creators#could we maybe not tack on personal accusations about a creator's moral character based solely around these choices?#so often it seems like ''i don't like this'' or ''i think this creative choice has some questionable implications i think we should unpack''#becomes ''i think this creator is scum and that they actively hate certain groups of people''#like this show has been very imperfect but it's kind of laughable to me how bent out of shape people are getting#when compared to the really egregious gross shit that was pulled in GOT#how quickly we forget etc

BUY OUR GAME BC WE SAID ALEXANDRIA & MIMICKED SOME BUILDINGS#YOU'LL BUY IT AND LIKE IT JUST BC IT SAYS SOLUTION NINE LIKE ZIDANE EVEN WHEN IT HAS NOTHING IN LINE WITH FF9- YOU DUMB TOOL#the solution 9 plot is just the twist from ff9 but if it had nothing to do with anything aside from being one giant reference#it's never made to fit xiv itself and it only appears at literally the last quarter of the story with virtually zero mention of it before#and then to drag it out even more they added a sprinkle of ffx fayth but make them disconnected from the themes and have no personal connec#with the protagonist (s)#everything before this is pure seasonal anime lowest grade shounen tropes with no seasoning bc it's played so predictably flat and straight#zero novelty beyond fringe ideas that just get mentioned w/o much writing behind them which this game loves doing#they love mentioning shit just to postpone it to the last second when it's suddenly important despite having no depth attached before#saves money on actually having to write a complete story#they even got Wish.com Steiner in here lmao#if anything the time for them to rip off IX was in EW because those stories actually have themes in common to make some sense#also the way characters are expendable to the story in the sense the game forgets they exist after they play their role#is at the worst it's ever been- they drop even long time main characters like flies once their exposition is done#it's so abrupt too just when you think a character might contribute more they're already gone#this expac is everything bad about the game which makes it worse than bad- it's unbearably boring and tedious#even characters that were HYPED IN THE TRAILER literally only show up for a few lines of dialogue then leave

Last year I kept track of the series & films I watched; this year I've decided to keep track of whatever books I read! So this one is for the month of January – I'll share these sometime after the month is over, or if I read more than one book during the month, I will do their reviews as soon as I finish the book :)
#ben picks up reading again#ben rambles about shit#should note that this is not spoiler free (don't give much context but still)#i would read it again just to catch all the parallels and symbolism#chose to read this on libby bc of the option to highlight and keep notes in one spot bc jfc I would've annotated tf out of a physical copy#doing this completely from my phone and made my own little template because I couldn't find any good ones for free#what else ummmm oh right this is like a basic answer/question and I ramble off topic but still within some type of margin#read that fanfic I recommend really since I feel like it's better written aka maybe I just like it more bc it has a happy ending#and it includes all the same problems that the characters of the original book went through (for the most part)#anyway 4/5 stars and not 5 bc like I got tired of clare's pov bc it felt like there was no different between#the varying ages we get once we reach her at like 12 and up#henry also affected this bc like he's likable but so stupid and shouldve studied paradoxes or something to solve his problems#again rambling it needs a fix it but blah blah not really their suffering is a main point of the book :)#yeah so structured like a traditional one but I focus on not so traditional aspects bc I have a way of analyzing things#as if I have an essay to write on it lmaooooo#these are handwritten bc I like to keep track in case it worsens due to my cubital tunnel affected wrist#(im a righty; lefty on the other hand has carpal tunnel but that only affects when I do hand on projects like pottery or painting)#I'm giving free trivia/lore about myself here lol

Apparently there's a fic reading challenge thing this year, but after doing a quick skim of the goals... we don't think we'll be touching it with a ten-foot stick. Some of these goals put a VERY bad taste in our mouth. The idea of a "diversity checklist" isn't supposed to be... literal, we don't think? No? We're remembering that one quote about "listening to people of color being like eating your vegetables for white activists" and we're feeling like it may actually have been understating whatever the hell is going on here.

A Fucking Lot#we are so insanely picky with fic bc even with ao3's tagging system we need to slog through dozens of fics to find one good one#and a lot of the time we. REALLY don't have the patience for fic that doesn't have decent depictions for the gals#you have no clue how much zel da fic especially we drop for being Really Fucking Weird About Gender (in a bad way)#sometimes we forget that people exist in bigger fandoms that actually have fic reading habits like this#we feel like we're in another dimension. what do you mean you guys live like this#also what. does “deals heavily (and healthily) with a mental illness” mean. you guys arent just reading this to eat ur vegetables right?#...right???#anyways reading through things like “read fics with all the major LGBTQIA2 identities” is giving us hives#if you read our fic then we beg of you read it because it sounds like it has a nice plot not just like. because Some Guy is ace or intersex#please. gender identity should NOT be that much of a priority. read through and flag on the weird gender shit and go “oh thats queer!”#or “oh thats like me” or “oh (whatever)” but please. there are so many things here more relevant than shit like sexuality.#we need to go read through our fics and make sure we dont have any overly modern lingo in there#if you want to know about a characters sexuality or gender identity figure it out yourself from. fuck we dont know. psychic beams.#though we rationally know the reason that things in modern queer spaces are so often Like This its still poison to our brain#and we want nothing to do with it#negative chatter
