the style of top he was wearing (p1) is very similar to that of GG’s (p2) at the airport when he was flying back to Beijing. it’s probably because the weather is getting colder so they wear this instead of their usual esspensive t-shirts?

the point is it’s kind of like the same-style in a close timeframe from each other. so it seems like their tastes in casual clothes are still very close.

The beauty🌹 of Shadamy

Isn't it just wonderful how my dear Amy Rose gets paired romantically with every Sonic Rival in the fandom? Even Blaze! And fortunately not much with Jet 😂😂 My favorite one obviously is Shadamy, followed by Surgamy and finally with Metal Sonic but seriously, to me nothing beats THE Shadamy❤🖤🩷.

So the BEST thing about this ship to me is that it was born out of a single interaction 😆 and I don't mean the moment she colorblinded mistook him for Sonic and hugged him nooooope I mean the moment she reminded him about Maria Robotnik's 🥺 true wish by giving him a similar speech of hope and second chances and after that he said: I have to fufill my promise for Maria... And you... Me after seeing that👇👇

Seriously, is fascinating how popular this ship became of that single interaction that led fans to write a HUGE amount of fanfiction of them and is always so romantic or so passionate or so angsty God I never get tired of it, one of my favorite portrayals of Shadamy is when Shadow is kind of a emo simp towards her, like he is simply adoring her even when she only looks at Sonic who is not looking at her 😭... Ah drama. 😂 I remember a few stories back when I was a pre teen... Like "el blog de Amy Rose" That's the only written fanfic name I remember and it was a total soap opera, a total and absolute telenovela full of all kinds of drama like Silver was their son and Sonic and Shadow were lost brothers 😂. Then I remember I few comics like Ternion that was an insanely passionate and angsty story with an excellent art that to contribute to my torture it was never finished... And boy I know the author had a secret smut chapter that she never posted anywhere... We know it exists because there were a few hot scenes in a video... 😭 but never happened the story didn't even reach half of what I think it was going to be🥲. In Chaos universe there's a double story in one Sonic and Amy had a daughter named Sonia but in an alternative universe we have María Rose who is Shadow and Amy's daughter... Is another tragedy were Amy is dead in both universes 😭 and of course I'm totally biased with Maria Rose's universe because the way her dad remember Amy's just hits different, seriously is way more enjoyably painful 🥲 and then the most current comics I'm addicted to of course IDOL AMY portrayed Shadow exactly how I said I like him the most 🥺 and the last one I saw is one apocalyptic where obviously Shadow survives and mourns a dead Amy: Future's Shadow... Girl this hedgehog can't catch a break they like to see him suffer 🥲🥲🥲

Now let's focus in the official interactions:

The Archie comics before the reboot kinda mistreated Amy portraying her in an annoying way most of the time just like in some games... And I wasn't a fan of a certain interaction she had with Shadow... (Those issues had a bitchy evil Rouge portrayal that I didn't like one bit🤬) I mean shadow actually kicks her in the stomach and hits her with her own hammer and... That just felt so wrong, you see I can't picture an scenario where Shadow would lay a hand on Amy in such a way as he did in those comics but I had a little comfort in this interaction at least 👇👇

She puts her faith on him when he doesn't have much faith on himself and that is something she also did in the games, like in Shadow the hedgehog own game. Then there was a reboot and we got better interactions, here we have Amy teasing him and he pouting adorably (and finally they dropped the Rouge is a bitch portrayal thank you😤)

We also see that they can make a good team

Hey Shadow how it feels to be hammered by her? 🤭😇, then we had the marvelous IDW reboot but we still don't have proper interactions (and this is the best Rouge💜)

Though honesty? This look like a romance novel scene... You know, with the bad boy being stubborn with the kind sweet girl 😂. Well Sonic IDW is still ongoing so we'll see if we get something more juicy... But I think I will be happy if they simply team up in a fight again.

And now let's talk about Twitter... Well, well, well have you noticed this tiny details in Sonic's Twitter takeovers? Someone asked "Shadow, will you marry me? " And they made Amy voice be the one reading that question 🧐, not only that the things Shadow described about what he wants in a partner for marriage were things that Amy totally would do perfectly (and to add some spice they made Sonic voice sound kind of upset to tease us with some sonadow too😂😂) and then the most precious and hilarious thing... SHADOW AND AMY ARE BOTH SWIFTIES 😆😆

And look! He got her ticket's 😭😭 and they went together!!! 😭😭😭(that's a DATE) and then in another Twitter takeover she tells about how they had fun and got shirts and then Sonic got jealous 😭😭😭 KYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA and look what SEGA IS DOING 👇👇👇

thoughts on ester and ben? i didnt really like her and ben when i first watched omniverse but i brushed it off as me being petty cause i only really cared about benrook lol, idk why but to me it seemed like ben wasnt really that into her and was just going along. however, i see people (mostly on reddit) say she was perfect for ben and im just like, uhm- did i miss something? i do kinda feel bad for her cause i think ben should have at least made it clear he didnt want to commit to her from the get go but idk, i skipped every other scene she was in LOL

I HEAR THIS SHIT EVERYWHEREEE 🙄 LMAO like I get it, she's considered the better option because she's not insulting him every other second, trying to use him for something, guilt tripping him over choosing to do his job instead of giving her attention 24/7, she has alien powers and therefore fits into the fighting crime aspect of the series. I understand that. But...in that case, it's like a band aid solution? They just didn't repeat the problems the "bad" love interests had, and by process of elimination, she’s the better option out of a bunch of debatably bad options.

But besides checking all those boxes, it's kind of a boring pairing. I think that's the real thing here that wrote them into a corner and contributed to kicking her out in favor of Kai the drama starting bitch with an attitude who tries to "challenge" Ben and create some kind of fucked up chemistry. It does give them something to make a plot from.

Ben 10 isn't and never was a romance focused show, so I don't think we need to expect an amazingly crafted romance plotline from it. And if people are content with a satisfactory romance, they can be. But again, if you want MY opinion, it's boring.

No wonder it seemed like Ben wasn't really into her 😂

To be fair, I have made a (less petty) point here that I do still agree with - they're teenagers. Dating around and things not working out isn't uncommon, unrealistic or unreasonable. Yeah, the romantic subplots could have been planned out better, but the argument can be made that the teenage years are for that kind of exploration.

I just have to say how disappointed I am in allowing myself to fall back into the Taylor trap. I started listening to her music in elementary and middle school and followed and genuinely liked her music until Red. I dropped her music because I got tired of all of drama with Jake and how everything was about a guy and then 1989 dropped and I got even more of an ick with all the Harry styles drama and after that I genuinely stopped hearing about her and her drama until midnights. I genuinely liked the vibe of it and then listened to lover, folklore, and evermore and was like Omg?! When did she mature? When did she grow this much? Folklore became my favorite album especially because it resonated so much with me while I was struggling. I went to the eras movie with my friend and we rekindled our girlhood memories and made friendship bracelets and even traded them with the few people the cinema and it was so cool to have had that moment watching the film and reliving our childhood with these people who we didn’t know but bonded with BUT THEN I got hit with the Joe break up, the Travis nonsense (like I didn’t stop seeing this man’s face no matter how hard I tried to avoid it) and then the Joe trash talk, Ratty, and worst of all-Taylor seemed to revert back to this immature, catty high school mean girl persona and I was shocked! I was so mad to find out that she contributed to this narrative against Joe and then TTPD admitting she cheated and blasted Joes mental health and her fans just justify all of it? They went from saying Joe was jobless and poor and used her to Joe being too rich to have mental health struggles and if he hadn’t been “so sad” she wouldn’t have cheated. Well which is it? Did he use her for money or did this rich man just ruin her vibe and deserve to get cheated on? And which is it from Taylor? Does she even have a real personality because it feels like she just picks up whatever suits her for the time being and I hate it.

I totally understand how you feel. I find myself sometimes missing her music.

One of the best times was the eras tour in cinemas for me too. My girlfriend surprised me with tickets we got flyers and it was a genuinely good time we were all dancing and singing along, people were handing out friendship bracelets, doing the fan chants etc but genuinely this entire thing is making me genuinely so sad because I really thought Taylor was a better person but she is just not.

Don't feel bad or disappointed because I promise you the fact that you see her bullshit and just does not blindly follow her like all the others says a LOT about you as a person and it shows your character so don't worry anon 🤗

🦴 ⇢ is there a piece of media that inspires your writing? 

Ohh that's a good one, but very tough! I could probably pick specific influences for some of my individual fics or AUs, but overall... Huh. Well, I was reminded of Watership Down the other day, and I just realized something.

It's one of my absolute favorite books and I've read it many many times. Some of my favorite aspects of the story are how all of these different characters come together to work toward a shared goal (even if they don't always know exactly what it is), and each of them has their own strengths that allow them to contribute. They have disagreements among themselves, of course, but they move past those, and the story doesn't dwell on the drama of conflicts and misunderstandings. There are outside forces that cause conflict, but some good comes even from those, and the characters learn new things from them.

A lot of stories use conflicts between the protagonists as major sources of drama, and that's something I generally dislike, because it always makes me ask, "If none of you like each other, then why should I, the viewer, care about any of you?" 😂 But in stories like Watership Down, you can feel the characters' love for each other and see their loyalty in their actions.

I think I try to handle characters in my stories in similar ways. I want them to be good to each other and work together as much as possible, even if they mess up sometimes. Aaaaand now I'm on my feelings about rabbits again T^T Hhhhh I love that book so much.

Well, that really depends on what you mean by "fix." I'm not sure how Luka and Adrien being friends would fix anything because they ARE friends in the show.

If you want a love square endgame, I think you have to go all the way back to Despair Bear, which is where the LS peaked IMO. Up until that point it seemed like Marinette and Adrien were inching closer to each other. I would've reversed the love square at that point, with Adrien becoming more interested in Marinette and Marinette being more torn between him and CN, preventing her from confessing while she tried to figure out her feelings.

With no hate to Kagami, it's her introduction and more importantly, Adrien's reaction to her, that really tanked any believability for the LS for me. When contemplating moving on from LB, he consistently chose Kagami without even a thought of Marinette as an option, and that was just completely it for me. It's not just that Adrien is interested in Ladybug, it's that he is totally *uninterested* in Marinette, and that's where all the "he's socially awkward"/"he doesn't understand his own feelings" completely fall apart for me. The show doesn't generally let us inside Adrien's head the way they do Marinette's, so if there was any internal conflict there, they completely failed to convey it. They could have had him think for some reason, possibly through Chloe or Lila's manipulation, that Marinette wasn't actually interested in him and so he pursued Kagami and Marinette then thinks she would have to give up on him, and go at the alternate love interests to keep the drama going, and there could have been some interesting ground to explore there. Imagine how Frozer would be with Adrien going, well, Marinette would have good advice and I know she's not interested in me so it can't hurt to ask her about Kagami instead of being blatantly oblivious.

I also have beef with the way Adrien handled the hero team becoming more prominent; given his background it is reasonable for him to be upset and think that he has to shine above the rest to get LB's attention, but instead of sulking around and not showing up in fights (which, up until this point, was an aspect of salt fics I thought was comedically far-fetched) I would have had him seek out Su Han for training, potentially giving him a mentor figure/someone to talk to about it his relationship with LB, AND give him something solid and specific to contribute to the battle and relieve the burden on LB. (Who did they end up having do this though? *Luka*. Who had every reason to legitimately consider himself out of the fight. Just saying.)

This would also require Su Han to be less of a dick, but there you go. Fix those things, and the godawful speech about "I can't help disrespecting your feelings because my own are so strong," and I would be nicer to Adrien. Give him some narrative accountability instead of acting the spoiled brat.

Oh yeah and also fix the speech where the rich white male supermodel teen icon tells Nino that asking out girls is easy. I've never forgiven him for that. And have him apologize in Frozer for letting his feelings get in the way of teamwork and leaving LB in danger without backup.

When modern cdramas try realism I find it fascinating? It's a very personal thing. I 100% understand why others don't find it compelling. But I'm intrigued! I do think there is sincere skill in actors mimicking life-like interactions and in writers capturing naturalistic interactions, that the viewer feels could have really happened. "Hidden Love", "Meet Yourself" and "Love Me Love My Voice" are 2023 examples.

We see these very "natural" performances by the actors, where the expressions and body language don't have that feel of "the stage" but like regular humans going about their everyday lives. There is a voyeurist fascination to watching another person's life. Entirely different than a compelling, exciting plot and wacky hijinks of quirky characters. (I don't watch those influencers on YouTube/Instagram or reality TV but I know a lot of people do. I assume that has a similar appeal.)

In the last 25 years, in most media there has been an increasing fear of silence and lack of momentum. Of just allowing moments to exist in 'real time' and taking the time they take. Writers skipping past or spicing up everyday conversations of people just being in the same place with no plot urgency... Characters all must be clever & smart and dialogue must be punchy, memorable. Every action has a 'purpose'. No minutes wasted. Editors have perfected the ability to communicate the max information in the minimum amount of time.

For instance, introverts who struggle to externalize their thoughts & contribute to conversations, who are sincerely awkward, have never had much of a place in media, but especially now they are allowed to only carry the title.

Thus "Love Me, Love My Voice" is such a risky adaption that I honestly admired the guts of the director. A story about 2 real introverts, who share a hyper fixation on the same fandom, falling in love. The showrunner could have chosen to adapt these characters to be more "tv friendly" but instead leaned into their introverted & demisexual characteristics. They are allowed to slowly peek out of their shells and struggle to find words. oh my GOD the tension as you start praying for FL to find a way to say anything, however generic, to continue the conversation...as the director lets the moment hang. FL's shyness and social anxiety feels so realistically crippling. They really said, 'let these motherfuckers be great at fandom content but awful at talking' with their WHOLE HEART 😂😭. Both ML and FL are uncomfortable with attention in social spaces, in a group setting will be nice & friendly but naturally go into another room to do more quiet solo/2 person activities. It's not immaturity - she's in her 20s, he's in this 30s; this is simply who they are. They warm up but it takes tons of time. Is the drama weird? interesting? boring? I can't even tell you. It was different and they Tried Something. I salute that. (also there was food porn) (so much fannish fixation & food porn)

Fancy you mention Witch-King drama, because it DOES exist in my AU headcanon history that Thranduil and his kin do directly tussle against the Witch-King several times through Third Age history.

This includes participation in:

The Angmar War - Mirkwood's participation went undocumented because Thranduil only discreetly sent the princes to join the battles, not his army (which could not be spared since they needed to stay and protect their own people). However, one Thrandulion has the fighting prowess and strength of an entire company of warriors, so their presence was a significant contribution from Mirkwood (however unacknowledged/anonymous).

The Battle of Fornost - Glorfindel is the paternal great grandfather of Prince Mirion's wife, Itarilde, so the princes fought under his banner.

The Battle Under the Trees - Technically Thranduil vs. Khamûl, but you can bet this was the culmination of centuries of anger and frustration Sauron and the Nazgul have against the unconquerable Woodland Realm.

So no worries about not giving Thranduil and his family their due acknowledgement--they're used to it and they've learned not to care. ;) Thank you for giving me the chance to drop more headcanons!

Since you're one of the only people I've seen so far that includes Odessa in fanworks, how exactly do you interpret her character? Both personality and design wise.

So the one single drama cd she was in didn't give much but that doesn't stop me from making a meal out of crumbs haha.

The cd translation just says she "fell in love with" Laito, got abandoned, and took revenge by killing all of Richter's people. But since this was all told via gossip and hearsay from the dl guys, and knowing them (derogatory), I highly doubt how they've presented the events is accurate and probably shouldn't be taken at face value.🙃

Personally, I'm interpreting it as she was probably naive and didn't fully realize his intentions for approaching her, and was taken advantage of. Plus when it says she "couldn't return to her village after", I can imagine she experienced a lot of victim-blaming for what she went though and considering the (likely) time period it very much could have been a factor in her exile, which probably contributed to her anger.

Therefore, her character is definitely heavily based around her desire for revenge over this experience. Which I think is just so damn cool of her😭.

I have multiple aus with her, but the only one I've written anything for so far is the tgcf au, so I'll be referencing that for how I see her character after this point.

I see her being similar to the character He Xuan/Black Water in the original novels. As in she lives for pursuing revenge because she has been denied justice due to how the person who wronged her is in a position that makes them "untouchable". But underneath the anger is someone who holds a lot of pain and loneliness from how nobody would even recognize that she was wronged.

So for tgcf and other aus she appears in, I want to give her that chance at revenge. But also like with Black Water, I want to explore what comes after that and how it takes more than just the act of revenge for her to heal from her pain and find peace so she can move forward.

For her characterization, I've been writing her dialogue to be more blunt, maybe even bitter at times. But she might also tease in like a sarcastic (but not mean) way, if that makes sense? Hard to really describe but whatever gets the above background across.

Looks-wise, this is how I described her in tgcf au which I think captures her vibe:

Her features were incredibly beautiful. Possessing all the elegance and grace of a noble lady, enough to take one’s breath away. But there was something chilling about the look in her eyes. On the surface, they burned with hatred. But Yui could still see that buried deep within, was an immeasurable pain.

For physical traits, there's nothing in the drama cd besides "cute". but for some reason I picture her as dark-skinned with curly brown hair. I'm just now realizing it might be because I thought the girl from the Hayley Kiyoko "Sleepover" music video was REALLY pretty😂

Exclusive: Avatar Studios and Netflix are collaborating on the live-action series, which will include new canon material contributed by Avatar Studios!

World peace?!

I’ve been sitting on bits of pieces of this news for literally months now and today I got explicit confirmation of the final puzzle piece that puts everything together.

Paramount and Avatar Studios on one hand, and Netflix and Rideback on the other, are collaborating to make the live-action Avatar series we’ve all been hearing (but not seeing 😂) so much about.

Avatar Studios and Nickelodeon have been listed as one or both of the production companies of the live-action show in multiple authoritative places, including production listings, IMDb, and one of the VFX studios’ websites, and we’ve never known what exactly that relationship entails. Well...

I can tell you the live-action show is on Paramount’s Avatar slate internally, just not their animated Avatar slate (obviously).

The live-action show has the rights to adapt not just the animated ATLA (2005-2008) but also Avatar Studios’ expanded universe, which the live-action show is incorporating in a lot of cool ways (you guys know specifically I’ve been really excited about how they’re incorporating Avatar Kuruk’s backstory from the novels). We’ve known that the cast and crew are knowledgeable about the expanded universe, but I can confirm it’s actually in-script and on-screen in the show too.

The live-action show is using Avatar Studios’ new four elements symbols.

Now, all of these things are cool, but could just be technicalities on their own. But here’s the big one that changes everything:

The live-action show includes new Avatar Studios canon that, at the time of writing and filming, wasn’t released yet.

For example specifically, I have confirmation that a certain new piece of canon info was already in the live-action script at the start of filming in November/December 2021, that was then revealed to be Avatar Studios canon in an Avatar Studios release the next year in 2022.

This means that Avatar Studios is contributing new material to the live-action show before they release it publicly. So theoretically, any new additions in the live-action show could also be canon in upcoming animation/books/etc.

Keep in mind that this doesn’t mean everything added in the live-action will also be canon in animation-- and there’s nothing wrong with the live-action having its own stuff that differs from other mediums. BUT, we do now know that at least some of it is also upcoming Avatar Studios canon, we just won’t know until it’s confirmed or contradicted!

I’m wording this all in terms of “canon” because I know people are obsessed with the concept, but if anything I hope this makes people focus on it less and more on just how well-made something is. If we know that anything new added in the live-action show could be from Avatar Studios or could be exclusive to the live-action, why not just focus on how good it is-- especially knowing that both “canons” just did whatever was best for the show. Think of it kind of like House of the Dragon, where there’s no way to know if changes/new additions are show-only or “what really happened” from George R. R. Martin. Ultimately, it didn’t matter, and it didn’t stop the show from being hugely popular among critics, fans, and general audiences, and winning Best Drama Series at the Golden Globes this week.

This info comes from both my Netflix and Paramount sources, and I have to say that it was really nice to write something that brings both “sides” together. Because there really aren’t sides-- I’ve only ever heard good things about Avatar Studios from Netflix and good things about Netflix from Avatar Studios. They each only have to gain from the other doing well, and now we know they’re collaborating together to make the live-action show, the first new big Avatar franchise release since Korra ended in 2014, as good as it can be. Make no mistake, it’s still Netflix’s own show, created by Albert Kim, and necessarily its own thing because it’s an adaptation. But I think the takeaway is that at the end of the day it’s all Avatar. :)

Putting aside Berrien, it'll be such a plot twist if Fennesz get demonized next because everyone (mostly) is predicting butler from either the 3rd floor or the basement to be the center in the next episode's stage 👀 If I remember correctly, Fennesz is currently the one who notices Berrien's different 'aura' when he asked about Haures' demonisation at the end of episode 2...? It would be great if he could play an important role in the future, episode 3 or not, because of that 🤔

I take it this is the announcement you mentioned, right?

I'm so excited about the next episode too. It's going to be distributed throughout the entirety of the year 2023, it seems? I certainly can't wait to be emotionally devastated once again. Episode 2 was really, really great, wasn't it? 😊

Since we're still in the topic of official announcement... I'd like to go off tangent a bit and talk about the third bullet point. It said, if my understanding is correct, the implementation of full voice acting in episode 2 and and episode 2.5 will be the last ones that come free. From there onwards, they will come into two parts, free and paid ones. Seems like we'll need to pay an additional fee if we want to unlock the voice...? I'm not entirely sure about this one actually. Anyone with a better grasp of Japanese feel free to correct.

I mean, I'm happy if Akuneko's doing well financially and the people who contribute to it, illustrators and voice actors alike, are getting paid well. On the other hand, as a money-wise poor af person, I'm anxious I won't be able to buy it... 😭 I doubt it will come cheaply after all

Moving on to Berrien, this is the tweet that speculated the right/left hand gesture, isn't it? I'm putting a link a there just in case someone either hasn't seen it/wants some context.

I think we all will cry if Berrien hates us 😂 but it's such a delicious theory, an unprecedented move from a joseimuke game should it ever come true. I mean, the most loving, kind-looking male cast that genuinely hates and/or betrays the players at a certain point??? If Akuneko does that, hats off for the bravery. I don't know if they will be able to pull such move though, given the risk of losing players is too big.

Short answer: I'm not doing great.

BUT I believe that anyone who is able and willing to share their mental health journey should. Both to normalize the struggle AND so that anyone else quietly going through the same thing doesn't feel so alone or as though it's their fault. Because it isn't our fault! We don't deserve this, and it's cruel our own brains tell us we do.

Also getting it out is just therapeutic sometimes!

I want to preface this with: I'm safe. I have no intrusive or physically harmful thoughts. 💖

But I'm really struggling. I feel like shit most of the time. Mentally, emotionally, and physically.

The winter blues have me in a chokehold and are preventing me from doing things that I enjoy doing to help me feel better.

When you're depressed, it can be difficult to do basic tasks. It can feel impossible to do things like self-care, exercise, or to work on creative projects.

I thrive on creative projects. I need enrichment in my enclosure!! When I don't have them or can't do them, it makes me feel actively worse.

I haven't been able to work on my fic because right now my brain is an undercooked scrambled egg in a mesh colander. I get about 100 words out (I'm at ~2.5k words for this next chapter, which is about half done, I would guess) and then I just stare blankly at my screen. Which sucks because I have the vision for what I want to write in my head (😏), but no way to get it to come out of my brain.

(Side note: thank god for gif making and Andy content because it's the one thread keeping me from bolting into the woods, never to return)

I also have a few home decor, painting, and craft projects I could work on, but I lack motivation due to depression.

It's just an ouroboros of "depressed so I can't be creative" and "need to be creative so I'm not depressed." 🙃

We're getting wave after wave of winter weather here (right now we're in a massive ice storm), which is keeping me indoors. Being cooped up is rough on me. I need to be active. I'm just a complicated houseplant—probably a calathea as we are both drama queens.

I'm also finding it difficult to exercise due to: you guessed it! The sads. My beloved rowing machine, stationary bike, treadmill, and yoga mat sit neglected.

I am also eating far too much bread. Which, while immediately satisfying, is unfortunately not a long term solution because it's actively contributing to me feeling worse 😂

I reached out to try and find a personal trainer to help with the lack of motivation, get me out of the house, have a routine, AND get some workout endorphins to kickstart my healthy habits back into gear, but I haven't heard a single thing back from any of them. Which is disheartening.

Especially since another fun symptom of depression is feeling completely fucking alone and ignored. Which is rude AF, btw.

I'm going to keep making Andy gifs and crossing my fingers that the weather lets up so I can leave the house. Maybe go to some thrift and antique stores or a plant store. That always makes me feel better!

So other than some far more personal struggles with having a chronically ill teenager, there you have it!

What do you think of the ship of Blooom and Sky? 😂😂 Yeah, it sucks for me too but I'm looking for an analysis.

I love that you came to me for this lol.

First off, let’s get one thing out of the way. I will not be looking at this from my personal shipper standpoint, which I’m sure many of you expect me to do. No, I am approaching this objectively simply based on the actions of Bloom and Sky alone throughout the seasons. This is also just my opinion, therefore feel free to ignore it!

Despite what many people may think, I don’t believe BloomxSky to be inherently a bad ship. Deep, deep at its core, it’s a cute friends to lovers trope, I guess. However, it’s drowning in toxicity. I know that’s a very overused word these days thanks to the internet, but I think it’s effective in this conversation.

Now, I’m sure you’re expecting the “he lied to her about his identity!” argument because that seems to be the default. And while it’s valid and is key to their issues, I don’t even have to touch on that to prove the relationship was doomed from the start. I’d like to go back even further to the true foundation. And that’s Sky’s actions in 1x14. While it’s a very forgotten episode, it truly lays the groundwork as to why Bloom and Sky should never have gotten together and is also the reason it gets under my skin that he’s constantly referred to as “Bloom’s Prince Charming.” So let’s take a look at this episode, shall we?

In this episode, we find Bloom once again doubting her powers, and meets with Sky to vent. He then shows up at her dorm that night with his levabike saying “let’s go break into Cloud Tower so you can read more of that book you found about you.” But when they get there, what they don’t know is that the Trix have spelled the book into telling Bloom lies about her past, telling her that she’s not actually a fairy and instead she’s a witch. Sky’s reaction to this “revelation” is the takeaway. This boy literally recoils from her. In fact, he takes several steps back because he’s so horrified that the girl he has a crush on is a witch. Keep in mind, nothing has changed about her personality or who she is as a person. But Sky has the nerve to hang his head like she’s betrayed him because she no longer fits into his perfect image of her, and acting as if she’s been lying to him despite her finding this information out at the exact same time he did (which is ironic considering he’s actually been lying to her the entire time about his identity). And then, to top it off, instead of making sure Bloom gets back to Alfea safe, he lets her walk alone through the forest at night while he flies back to Red Fountain. “Oh well maybe she insisted” I don’t care. She’s clearly in a negative head space, her whole world has been turned upside down, and you’re letting her be alone right now in an environment she’s never navigated before. Take. Her. Home. You. Dick.

That aside, they also tend to draw out each other’s negative qualities. And as you can guess, those tend to play off each other. We quite literally can’t go through a single season without there being Bloom and Sky drama due to how central these issues are to their relationship. And, I don’t want to point fingers or show a bias, but the biggest points of contention in their relationship are Sky’s incessant refusal to go against his parents and his inability to tell Diaspro to get the fuck away from him. Bloom’s major negative contributions to the relationship are her intense jealousy and trust issues, yes. But where do those stem from? Sky giving her reason after reason after reason to reaffirm those feelings. He breaks off his engagement to Diaspro? He goes on a canoe trip with her over the summer. He brings Bloom home to meet his parents? Doesn’t defend her when his mother yells at her for offering a suggestion to help save his ex-fiancée. I could go on, but I’m just getting angrier. So I’m going to stop.

But I also think another point of contention is that Bloom frequently challenges Sky’s behavior. But in the end, she always sacrifices herself to allow him to persist in being a doormat. She’s changed quite a bit throughout the seasons to become a “perfect princess,” however I’d argue that in comparison, Sky has actually regressed. While he did challenge his parents by breaking his engagement to Diaspro, we’ve never seen that kind of backbone from him ever again. We should’ve seen that same behavior when Diaspro was assigned to be his personal guard or whoever she was supposed to be in s5. But alas we did not. He seems pretty content with living under his parents’ control for the rest of his life. And it makes you wonder why.

Personally, I think Bloom deserves better. And I’m not saying that with anyone in particular in mind. She just genuinely deserves someone who’s actually going to respect her and take her feelings into consideration. And Sky …. he just needs to go be with Diaspro since clearly he’s not interested in removing her from his life.

I’ll just leave it at that. It’s taken me 3(?) weeks to finish this, and it feels terribly disjointed, which I deeply apologize for (it’s been a rough couple of weeks). But if anyone would like a deeper view into anything I’ve brought up, I’d be happy to do so because I’m sure there’s more shit my migraine-addled brain can scrounge up about their disaster of a relationship.
