Klance- When Keith is way with the blade of marmora

First of all, Lance is sooooo annoying when Keith is away. Bro will not shut up about his super hot grumpy emo boyfriend. Keith’s name leaves Lance’s mouth at least 199 times a day, if not more.

Second of all, Keith is the complete opposite. He gets really really quiet, more quiet than he normally is. He doesn’t mention Lance at all but his name never leaves Keith’s mind. He only really gets talkative around Lance so without him, Keith doesn’t talk unless he has to.

THEY TOTALLY SWAP JACKETS BEFORE KEITH LEAVES EVERY TIME!!! Keith has literally turned around and come back to the castle just to get Lance’s comfy green jacket. Keith likes Lance’s jacket bc it smells good and actually keeps him really warm. Lance likes Keith’s jacket bc it’s small and scuffed up and worn but he prefers to hold Keith’s jacket close to him rather than actually wear it all the time. He’ll just walk around the castle with the red jacket thrown over his shoulder or clutched tightly in his arms.

When Keith is only gone for a couple days, Lance gets sooooo excited when he returns to the castle. He goes running through the halls with red cheeks and the biggest grin to meet Keith in the hangar when he arrives.

“KEEF!!!” “I told you to stop calling me that.” “I missed you! Did you miss me? Oh my quiznak, you totally missed it! Pidge caught a piece of equipment on fire yesterday. It was so crazy and-“ Cue Lance talking Keith’s ear off while he just smiles and nods along.

If Keith is gone for longer than like a week, bruh it’s so dramatic when they finally reunite. Just picture a teary-eyed Keith on his knees, still in his blade suit, clutching a happy crying lance in his arms. They just miss each other sooooooo much.

The whole team is like 🥹🥹🥹

Pidge specifically is like “I’m not crying, you are…”

Pretty much every time Keith is traveling back to the castle, he’s exhausted. There’s a lot of pressure on him, a lot of weight on his shoulders right now. He’s always on high alert, super tense and barely getting sleep. BUT when he finally sees Lance again and hears his voice and feels his embrace, he gets a sudden rush of energy. Now he wants to pull another all nighter just to catch up and spend time with his bf.

Oddly enough, Lance spends a lot of his time in the training room when Keith is gone. No one’s really sure why but Shiro thinks is bc Keith is always training and so being in that room makes Lance miss him less, ya know? Pidge is like 99% sure it’s bc he wants to actually practice so he can impress Keith with a super cool new move he learned when he gets back. Pidge is correct

If Keith has any down time while he’s away, he likes to just daydream. There’s not much else he can do so he stares off into the distance and gets lost in thoughts about his tall dreamy boyfriend and the last time they made out and how he can’t wait to feel his thin arms around him again and how he misses the smell of his nightly face masks and the sound of his voice and the texture of his hair and the freckles on his tan face. I could go on for days.

The second Keith leaves, Lance begins planning 😈 He racks his brain with cute date idea and nice things he can get/make for his bae. Every time Keith returns, after the initial hugging and kissing and excited smiles and small talk, Lance is giving Keith something nice or trying to take him out for a space picnic or some sappy shit like that.

Pretty much every time a date is planned, it never happens. Keith first complains that he’s too tired to go anywhere and then convinces Lance to makeout cuddle with him in bed instead.

But Keith does get really flattered and smiley and red when Lance gives him a pretty rock he found on a planet close by or a stuffed animal from the space mall or something like that. He just feels so special and he thinks Lance is just way too cute and pure for this world. He’s like ‘aww he was thinking about me’.

While Lance runs his mouth all day about missing Keith and anticipating his return, the night time is different. Lance cuddles Keith’s jacket or pillow in bed and lays awake for a while wondering exactly what he’s up to at this very moment. Is Keith thinking about him right now too? Is he safe? When will be be back? Poor baby boy is stressed about the love of his life.

Lance often has nightmares when Keith isn’t in bed beside him. It’s almost the same bad dream every time, just slightly different. It’s always Keith is on a mission with the blade and ends up hurt or lost or…worse. And Lance wakes up in a cold sweat every time. He wouldn’t know what to do with himself if Keith never came back to him.

Keith will never mention it to anyone ever but he has bad dreams when he’s away from Lance too. He often dreams that he returns to the castle to find the whole team gone, Shiro Lance Pidge, everyone. It scares the hell out of him, he loses sleep over it a lot.

That’s why they’re so intense when they reunite after a long time away from each other. The longer they are apart, the more they both worry about the other and the more these terrifying dreams occur. So when they finally see each other again after like a two month mission, they’re so overwhelmed with happiness and relief that they are both brought to tears.

When they finally sleep beside each other again, OH MY GOD THEY BOTH SLEEP SO GOOD. They feel so comfy and content and safe.

Keith snores pretty much every night but when he comes back after a long mission and finally gets to fall asleep next to the love of his life, his snoring can be heard from Earth probably. He’s just finally relaxed enough to get some good sleep again, he can’t help it. Lance thinks it’s cute and he knows it’s bc his poor baby is sleep deprived.

Long story short, these two are so deeply and madly in love. I don’t think two people have ever been this in love before. Throughout this entire space war, the thought of each other is what really keeps them both going. They’re fighting for the safety of the universe…but they are each other’s universe 💙❤️💙❤️

5. Do you respond to comments? Yes! I do! Sometimes I can take a little long but I really enjoy talking with my readers!

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Just a call... (vld, gen) I think! It's an open ending, but it ends up on a frustrating note (which was the point).

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Oh man, they almost always have a happy or at least hopeful ending. Let's go with A little mouse told me (vld, sheith).

Oh, hey, fun anecdote! Someone commented on Stay with me (vld, sheith) to tell me it was the 200,000th work in the "happy ending" tag! They had just witnessed the tag going up to that number with my fic!

8. Do you get hate on fics? Not so far, thankfully. (Happened once on fanart though, but it was just one dumb comment by an anti).

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? I haven't so far, I'm not really interested in writing it (never say never, though!).

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? Well, I did 2 fairly recently for a crackship event! It was loads of fun. The craziest might be A Mysterious French Chef, which started as a Hunk&Remy idea, but ended up involving Hunk, Allura and the space mice for vld, and Linguini, Colette, and Remy for Ratatouille, and everyone interacting pretty significantly. I really loved mashing the 2 universes, and for something that started as a "crack" idea, it ended up working surprisingly well!!

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I know of. I've had some original (anonymous) poems that I cowrote with a friend plagiarized down to using our actual pseudonym, but that wasn't in fandom or even online!

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? I don't think so.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yes! Five times Shiro broke the rules, and one time Keith did with VirdisDrachen (vld, Shiro&Keith). It's based on a roleplay. Other than that, while it's mostly an artist+writer big bang collaboration, I think Square_Orange and I did discuss the plot a fair amount for Let It Snow! (vld, sheith).

I also have 2 fics that are remixes of other people's work, done for the sheith remix event : When you lived! (the “Enormous, within your small hands” remix) inspired by a fic by @annaofaza, and High Score! (the “I want us forever” remix) inspired by a fic by Tragedy_Machine.

14. What’s your all time favorite ship? To no-one's surprise: sheith.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I am fairly good at finishing my wips, even if I do have some stuff that has been waiting for a while. I still have my notes about Keith grieving Shiro between s2 and s3 and how the team tried to support him and each other but how things became tense, that I wrote just after s3 aired! I still hope to get to it one day!

There's also the collab with VirdisDrachen tbh because we dropped the rp after a while and I wouldn't finish this alone. So I'm afraid this one will stay as is.

16. What are your writing strengths? I think I'm good with dialogues and characterization? Themes like friendship, found family are my jam, too. Of course it's subjective.

17. What are your writing weaknesses? I am learning, but action and fight scenes are *hard*. (But I also love them? haha). On the exact opposite side, stories with very low stakes are sometimes hard to write, when it's just 100% fluff and no conflict, unless it's like, a short scene... It's easier with some emotional or romantic build up (ex mutual pining > getting together) but otherwise I really have to *think* to plot the fic. I'm so used to stories centered around conflict (in the literary sense, including inner conflict, not necessarily an actual fight).

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I agree with @starlightvld that if it's a language that I'm not personally fluent in, I'd look for a native speaker who might want to help or avoid it. Except maybe for conlangs, like Sindarin or Klingon. Although if I ever write in a fandom with something like that, I would f*cking love to get insight from one of these people who actually studied them and are fluent. In a more general way, I'd be cautious that it actually brings something to the story, that it makes sense to use the language that way, and to do it in a way that doesn't confuse readers too much (unless I am purposefully writing for those who know the language, I guess). I will say that I do love different languages to be aknowledged, like for vld fics that actually dig into the paladins having different languages, and the Galra and Altean also, and so on (ex fics where they have universal translators and then there are issues when they break or they can't rely on them for whatever reason).

19. First fandom you wrote for? Voltron! My first fic was a Hunk-centric gen fic, While some count sheep, and I'm still really fond of it!

20. Favourite fic you’ve written? Oh, that's hard, I like them all for different reasons. I do enjoy Carry me away for the sheith saving each other vibes. A little mouse told me (sheith written from the space mice pov) was such a fun exploration! Honestly, the most kudosed ones in question 4 are all fics I am proud of. To chose a lesser known one, I also love A special day , a vld gen Hunk-centric fic!

Hey for ur vld!pjo au id LOVE to know who pilots what Lion and why 👀👀👀

i Have SO MANY THOUGHTS on who pilots each lion and why.

I have 2 PJO/VLD crossovers already that are ~150 pages each, which I wrote while I was in high school. In one of them, Percy pilots Black, Jason pilots Blue, Leo pilots Green, Frank pilots Yellow, and Nico pilots red. I feel like that's a pretty basic line-up, TBH. In the other one, everything is the same except Jason and Percy are swapped.

I don't like those dynamics anymore, though, and I think there's some WAY more interesting stuff that can be done.

I think Annabeth should be Allura, right off the bat, though. NO matter what, that role fits her best, to me. She's the knowledgable princess who is the heart and center of this war, she is the reason there is a fight to be had in opposition at all. Without her, Camp Voltron doesn't exist.

Jason makes sense as Black paladin to me - the one who was always made to be the leader, pushed himself despite all the potential reasons not to (for Shiro, it being his illness. For Jason, it being a fundamental rift between who he actually is versus who the world thinks he should be). The one who wants to be a mentor and a helper for everyone, the one who gives everything to save the others. Shiro throwing himself into the ring as the Gladiator, the Champion, so Matt didn't have to? Exactly like Jason dying so Piper didn't have to. To me, that one is a no brainer.

The rest is where I get pretty iffy. I like Percy as Blue because, duh. But I think he would also be a good Red. He's impulsive, his plans aren't always thought out and usually he charges in knowing he has power to back him up, and nothing else. I wouldn't necessarily call him hot headed, but he definitely isn't the type to just roll over and accept whatever leadership tells him to do. This is the dude who snuck out of camp to go after quests, the dude who blew up a volcano, Percy as Red just makes sense to me.

I know Nico is usually slotted in as red because Keith, but I almost see Nico either as not a pilot at all, or as a Blade member gone AWOL. Maybe he tags along when the Earth crew goes after Jason because he knew Jason, Jason was the only human he trusted. It's not like at that point they would know that they'll be piloting the lions, right? Or, maybe Nico DOES know about the lions, but holds that information to himself, because he thinks that maybe, just maybe, he's finally found the people who can help him swing the war. Because that's how Nico is - he operates as a one-man army, trying to take everything into his hands, pull all of the strings.

I have a lot of different ideas for how Nico could go in a VLD crossover, TBH. He could be half Altean, half Galra, like Lotor. He could be a version of Coran's character. He could be the red paladin who inevitably leaves because he feels the team doesn't trust him, thinks he's a freak, the red paladin who doesn't come back. Reyna could be a Blade, maybe the one who saves Jason, the one who recognizes the Galra in Nico. There are so many options!

I almost like Frank in Coran's role, because he gets to be meek and timid to a point but also knowledgeable. Plus, I feel like canon PJO Frank didn't really love fighting? And I could see him-as-Coran having an interesting history 1) with Annabeth, he sees her as a friend and maybe even a sister, because they were raised together and all that and 2) Maybe he knew the Galra, and was friends with a lot of them before everything changed (thinking along the lines of, the Galra being the Romans. Like, Octavian as Sendak kind of thing. Some of the gods/goddesses being other high power Galra, like maybe some corrupted versions of Jupiter and Juno are Haggar and Zarkon. I DID just almost put Zoloft instead of Zarkon.)

I love Hazel as Green, which might be due to my recent fondness for the transfem!Pidge headcanon. I headcanon Hazel as being a trans woman ever since hockey AU. I also think that Hazel has an interesting connection with Jason (Romans) and Nico (siblings) like Pidge does to Shiro and Keith - even though they don't all exactly align, I still like the parallels. Pidge sees Shiro as an older brother - Hazel sees Jason as an older mentor figure who, in my HC, she becomes genuine friends with through Nico. And then, Pidge has a fondness for Keith because they canonically both feel like outcasts and whatnot, and, obviously, Hazel and Nico in canon are the underworld siblings together. There's some interesting stuff to be done with the whole, Hazel and Nico but also Nico and Bianca and all that.

Plus, if Hazel is part Galra too, then that means Nico doesn't have to be on Voltron, he could just be a Blade. Because we can have Hazel as the "omg we have a Traitor Among Us" and the camera pans over and it's 5 foot shit Hazel with a dagger and space buns.

Also Galra Hazel??? HEllo??? how has no one done this before I'm barking.

....omfg HAZEL as Red???? HELLO????

AS FOR YELLOW. I mean .Leo. come on. He's the comic relief, he's the mechanic, he's the fourth wall breaker and the one who eats all the weird shit and fantasizes about getting home so he can make and eat homemade meals. Y'know? Like, it just makes sense to me. Plus the we get the fun dynamic of a Lance-like character being in even LESS of a position of "power" in the team, because he's NOT the sharpshooter, he's NOT the second in command. He's just...Leo. The seventh wheel. He wants to be more but he doesn't know how.

Piper is another option for a bunch of roles, too. I could see her fitting in as Green, of course, but she could definitely also fit as, say, Coran's role, the role of one of the blades, maybe even as one of the reoccurring characters like Shay or Nyma. I think there could be a way to work Piper in as Red, but that would have to be in an AU where Jason Leo and Piper are The Main Trio, versus what I'm aiming for here with Annabeth Percy Nico and Jason being the main Group.

I'm trying to think of other characters I would give important roles to. TBH I think any other remainders it would depend on the story - like, Luke could be Zarkon in some of these AUs, whereas in others he might be Lotor (misguided with a crazy mom and an absent/abusive father??? bro). And in some maybe he's Sendak, or he's his own insane antagonist that doesn't have anything to do with the original VLD bros.

And then there's like, the rest of the gods. Who are they, what are they doing? Hades and the other underworld Cast would absolutely be Blades or Galra of some flavor. But what about Aphrodite? or Poseidon? Are they perhaps the leaders of other planets?

(Does this give us the opportunity to make everybody aliens???)

SO ANYWAY. These are my word-vomit thoughts on VLDPJO crossover. They are subject to change and also I might immediately forget about all of this as soon as I hit post. But just know that right now I FULLY believe in this. Hell yeah.

so about voltron

idk where this post is gonna go, but i have thoughts and feelings about this show and needed to get them out. so. rambley post it is.

i dont think it's new information for anyone that voltron and its fandom suck major ass, unless you've been living under a rock, and in that case, get back under that rock sweetie. this show sucks a fuckton and this rambling will be nothing more than critique and bashing. anyways

at the end of season 2 shiro was going to die in the original "plan" as far as we know. we were gonna get a heroic sacrifice and the team would go back to its 1984 setup with allura piloting the blue lion. except of course the machinations of the universe are beyond us so shiro did not in fact. die. he was the most popular character and his merch sold the most, so he couldn't possibly die this early on. who else would've made dreamworks their pure gold bars?

so as daddy dreamworks demanded, the writers delivered and un-unalived shiro, completely disregarding their original flimsy shambling excuse of a plan in exchange for among the worst plotlines i have ever seen anywhere. possibly the worst that exist in all of television ever. we got 4 seasons (well really 2) of completely directionless, contrieved, contradictory, and mind-numbing bullshit. stuff happens because someone wanted it to. 2 eps later something very contradictory happens because someone else wanted it to. i cannot stress this enough it feels like the writters were split into factions each of whom had very different ideas about literally everything in this fucking show. some of the dialogue actually feels like someone just wrote down the arguments and fighting going down in the writer's room. shit was made up along the way as the show went on for far longer than it had the right to, and for each and every fucking plotline the writers were divided and kept on shooting themselves (and the others too don't forget) in the foot for the sliver of chance that their story will be canon. just completely backstabbing each other for the sake of it and no regard for what is actually happening. it would be hilarious if it hadn't destroyed my sanity. and for a bit of a personal opinion, a liitle ymmv, none of the writers had any good ideas actually. even ignoring the nonsense opposite fuckery happening, none of the plotlines were good lmao. please end this and me oh god.

as a result we got a completely wish-washy, flip-flopping, self-contradictory, reductive mess of a show which never had any good original ideas or story much less a fucking plot or even a plan in some direction. the writers had no goal except to get their plot on the paper disjoint from everything else with jackshit regard to the overarching storyline. well if there was anything resembling an overarching storyline in the first place.

ig i'll talking specifically about the some of the worst offenders in the "the writers never thought of anything" situation - the allura racism arc, the clone shiro arc, and fucking lotor. oh my fucking god motherfucking lotor. holy shit they fucked him up.

i dunno where to begin with the allura racism arc except for the fact that it was DUMB. completely out of the blue and so fucking forced. for a princess of a diplomatic people she sure is fuckin racist for no fucking reason. even if she doesn't trust any and all galra (ig they didn't have unity in diversity activities in altea), she has no reason to not trust keith. like. my guy what. he proved himself as a paladin of voltron and has directly and indirectly saved her ass. why is she racist oh my god. and why doesn't coran hold any animosity towards the galra? he also lost his homeworld (and alfor)? and he lived on altea for far longer? ig women are emotional or smth. man. i also liked (absolutely despised) the the fact that it kinda took a #notallgalra turn and i was jesting about it and then they actually said that in the fucking show. hey allura not all galra are bad. hey allura stop being a bitch. and then the writers forgot about it btw and made allura racist again 2 seasons later. hmm. wut. also they never checked their own internalised racism or whatever as *points to zethrid's design*. lmao. WAIT also the conflation of racism with speciesism. yknow. using anti speciesism messages as anti racism messages. classic white person living in california moment.

alright the clone shiro arc. because its the keith and shiro show and we can't loose half of our money milking cow. and we shan't make them explicitly gay. only allude to it and sprinkle in family brother stuff so nobody actually thinks they're gay. that would be blasphemous. we shall continue with our pseudo-incest for the rest of the show and give shiro a last minute husband so they don't haul our ass for gaybaiting and burying our gays because we somehow managed to do both of them. anyways where was i. oh right shiro died but they had to bring him back blah blah but they made a clone of him for? reasons? while the real shiro is in the subconscious of the black lion or smth for unexplained reasons. i have absolutely no idea why they did that. they have a carbon copy of shiro in terms of everything - personality, fighting capabilities, homoerotic scenes with keith - for jackshit reasons while they could have the actual real shiro running around but i guess not. the clone is the exact same as the real guy until he isn't. because. we need more drama in this over extended bullshit show i guess??? clearly we don't have enough stuff going on we must make it more exhausting and confusing to watch. also clone shiro is as good and noble as normal shiro until he got a headache and now he's evil at the flick of a switch and retains none of his previous personality and is therefore irredeemably evil and nothing can be done to save him. he's bad and evil and must be forgotten. they never mention him again later on except for a throwaway comment on how evil he was except he wasn't evil guys you're not gonna fool anyone. oh and btw the real shiro's soul or whatever got supplanted in the clone's body because idk man where his original body went and he retained all the memories of his clone self because isn't that convenient. fuck everything. also this arc culminates in the best episode of this show despite everything wrong with the events leading up to it and the way they handle lotor in this episode. more on him later. it's literally among my favourites now 10/10 would watch again it was so fucking good. kill me. i.

again, i don't know where to begin with lotor - such an interesting character who got the short end of the stick. the worst victim of the writers' squabbles. i genuinely liked him a lot and then. such a shame. well there are other characters- oh no. there aren't any other even remotely interesting characters. not good, no no, no one is good in this show, but just fun to watch.

he starts off as an antagonist to team voltron but he's not actually a threat. he maybe wants to use them to further his goals but really he isn't the villain per se. which sucks because there aren't any villains in the show now cause the previous main villain is out of commission for who knows how long. and then whoops lotor has to kill one of his generals and then the other generals betray him and now i guess he's with voltron now. sure why not. interesting turn of events. at least it isn't boring. i'm having fun can't you see. then he kills the previous villain (who is his father did i mention that) in episode two of season five. yes s05e02. i dont know any more than you do. and now it sucks even more cause theres literally no fucking villain rn. then he and allura start working on quintessence or whatever because she learns that he is half altean and btw do you remember she is racist. now since he is not 100% galra (bad people) but half galra half altean (good people. her people) she smooches him and stuff and. also btw all this fuckery is happening alongside the climax of clone shiro arc. yeah this show may suck. whatever evil shiro who wasnt evil is defeated and lotors really helped team voltron and the galra empire is going to stop conquering worlds and the show is going to end on a mid note. well.

EXCEPT SIKE BITCH LOTOR IS PURE CRAZY EVIL FUCK YOU FOR EVER ROOTING FOR HIM. FUCK HIS WHOLE CHARACTER BEING ALL "IM NOT MY FATHER" AND THEN AT THE END 180ING MAKING HIM JUST LIKE HIS FATHER. FUCK EVERYTHING FUCK THIS SHOW YOU THOUGHT IT WAS SOMEWHAT GOOD. WELL FUCK YOU IT AINT EVEN SOMEWHAT GOOD.

this angsty boy has such a fiery personality (him, zuko, and mako are the holy red trope trinity and you can fight me on it) that it's the literal law (my law, you can reference all my atla / tlok fics for that later lmao) that he end up with someone opposite his elemental vibe thus ending up with a waterbender

but your powers are a little more broad, so any liquid also ends up in your spectrum to bend

the plot twist is that you grew up thinking you were a human, enrolling in the galaxy garrison completely unaware you weren't human at all, instead a rare species of bender the galra yearn to destroy

you always wondered why you were always so attracted to any vast body of liquid despite being trained as a fighter pilot

but it all made sense when allura explained it to you since you weren't a paladin but "made for greater things" and keith took a really long time to process it

he didn't know if it was because of the actual news or because you immediately made a water pun upon finding out (lance who? and sokka? we don't know them we only know y/n l/n in this household)

keith doesn't treat you any differently, but you lowkey have to work up to the amount of trust you had from pre-voltron events

it's just a big deal for you and you don't really know how to deal with it, and on top of that keith just has an existential crisis since he liked you because you were so familiar and then they drop the waterbending bomb on him

but y'all get through it after lance annoys him enough bc his banter makes him miss you (for payback you freeze lance's cups of water during breakfast)

omg pidge keeping up with the earth calendar in space and you make it snow in the castle on christmas !!!

also epic pool fights >>> expect the pool to turn into a water park

anyway back to the regularly scheduled headcanons

imagine keith being touch starved, it gets worse bc you feel as though he shouldn't hold your hand or you'll accidentally hurt him or something (this boy just needs to be protected someone give him a hug, cause it ain't gonna be me)

you compromise with tapping each other's hands or loose pinkies interwined (ohh just wait till you bloodbend)

your relationship is definitely spontaneous, hot headed, and badass af !!! with an emphasis on competitive

and i mean competitive, the vibe just goes through the roof after discovering your powers

y'all would always fight for the top grades in your crew bc you were baby and you wanted to make shiro proud but y'all took it to a whole other level in space

choose your fighter: a beginning waterbender who's being trained by an ancient altean or a fast learner who happens to wield a sword?? my bet is on the fast learner (everyone has bets on who wins between y'all, it's a weekly match at this point)

my mind immediately going to angst oop- okay keith has been through a lot okay, his mom left, his dad died, shiro was previously announced dead, and now you're a waterbender who can manipulate the water in one's body

however allura didn't think to inform you of mf bloodbending, so it came off as a shock when you did it upon being captured in season seven and zethrid and ezor had pidge

you shut down, and it was so hard to talk to you even if you shared a space in the black lion with keith (jeez poor krolia having to hear that confrontation)

but when you let it out, keith is right there and he tells you of the times he's been scared of himself whenever his galran side pops out sometimes

and he tells you how he's going to be there with you and that at least y'all will finally have some familiarity being back on earth (jokes on you-)

it's a big step though because keith vocalizing things is a rarity but he's also a simp for you and he'd do anything to make you feel better

especially after he left for the blades so if anything he's just making up for lost time

lance

this boy has had feelings for you since the minute he met you and thinks the whole universe of you

they had found you in a galra prison during a simple recon mission, which then turned into saving you, as the rumors of the galra finding rare benders and exploiting them for their power turned out to be true

well they didn't actually have to save you, you mocked one of the guards enough to have them let you go and you wrecked them with the surrounding metal in the room

lance had been the one to come and retrieve you, to which you weren't expecting the paladins to find you anytime soon so it surprised you when you were met with a laser gun to your head, and suddenly he was pinned in metal

he may have enjoyed that a little too much and wanted to kiss you right then and there, having literal heart eyes at your intense glare, and as per usual shiro had to come to the rescue

but since you were a high risk prisoner due to your powers, the paladins thought it would be safer if you stayed with them until you could go into hiding (which means once sam holt is found, you're headed to earth because you look human enough and you could help make earth believe in alien life)

which meant spending more time with lance !!

okay but lance has always been for having a badass powerful significant other wbk, so it's no surprise y'all ended up together

he says your bending makes the relationship more fun and thrilling (he just has a type okay)

and his sparring sessions are actually challenging for once

but also y'all just work well together, two peas in a pod, two people sharing one braincell, the like

y'all do self care nights !!! and y'all happen to be quite the explorers so occasionally on foreign planets you'll find stones, turning them into crystals with your bending

lance was so in awe that there's always a pack of stones waiting for you in your room, and you've amounted to so many little crystals that you make jewelry together

it can be a separate date on its own or something to pass the time while wearing face masks

the first thing he made were matching bracelets, it was pretty cute

but when he's sad he'll just pull up to your room, pull out the space crystals (you totally have a stash of self care products for when lance isn't ready to leave your room) and make jewelry for his family as an homage to them

he'll ramble on and on about them, stopping abruptly to be able to string the tiny crystals along into a bracelet or when he needs utmost concentration

but you listen wholeheartedly, contributing to the abundance of bracelets and other trinkets in hopes they'll like them too

it's a small gesture, but for lance that's enough (and that's when he realizes he loves you)

when you inevitably leave for earth, he gets sad because you'll have to be experiencing earth without him, but thinks it's a perfect time to give you the promise ring with a special crystal he managed to find without you

he finally tells you he loves you and promises to see you back on earth (he got a little carried away and made you a video for earth too for days you missed him, however you accidentally gave it to his family and they immediately took you in as their own; especially veronica who took you under her wing as you venture the garrison together)

aw and when you and lance reunite it's the cutest thing he has a mf heart attack

granted you hug keith first bc he didn't necessarily have anyone to come home to and he was family considering y'all are lowkey alike, and you ramble about how you jumpstarted and metalbended a train with veronica when lance just pulls you into a kiss like bro i missed you

the mcclain family cheers him on bc their baby is here alive and thriving but keith is like ugh ew gross

but everything is almost back to normal bc you and lance are together again and that is all that matters !!!

The pretty boy script was from another voltron variant but that’s not going to stop us Klancers from running with it.

Also their merch design and marketing team were asses. I’ve been here since forever and it was such a mess. You have those cheap action figures they sold their souls for that bombed so bad that they only released Shiro, Lance and Keith. They have the lion action figures which spoiled Black’s elemental power of Astro projection before it was a detail in the show. The ugly pandering shipwar shirts from Hot Topic. Jewelry that cost well over a hundred dollar for. Voltron robot toy with weapon upgrades that wasn’t even canon. They commissioned an artist to make a Lotura pin who then had promised to make a Klance one but then didn’t. A VR video game that got nominated for an emmy but got discontinued.

Also I remember they tried to capitalize on Jeremy Shada’s appearances because, contrary to current popular beliefs and status, Lance was the fan favorite during peak voltron and have him try to sell a giant die cast voltron statue. The showrunners also followed him to a con he was already booked at and then scheduled the voltron panel time at the same time as his AT one, forcing him to run back and forth between the two panels.

Not to mention the actual showrunners coming to panels and answering questions and making things worst.

The marketing team was a mess.

I know with merchandise like toys, things are often spoiled because they are released before the actual show or movie comes out. I think this just happened with the new Spiderman movie which hasn't even had a trailer released yet.

And let me tell you, this is not difficult to avoid. If you've worked in certain retail stores, you'll know about SOS's (Strict on Sale) which are items that cannot be put out on the sales floor before a certain date.

I'm sure companies think by having toys and merchandise available before the release of something, it will create a buzz about the actual movie/show. But it's just annoying – and most likely leads to a bunch of avoidable returns.

I joined the fandom later, and tried to avoid as much drama as possible, so I didn't know specifics like this. But even I knew enough to feel bad for Jeremy Shada. I feel bad for all the voice actors, but I feel like he got more of this kind of stuff than the others. I especially feel bad for them because for a while it genuinely seemed like they enjoyed doing the show, and it was something they were proud of. But toward the end there was so much hate surrounding it, it became this, like, taboo subject, or just something to put on your resume and move on from. It's similar to Game of Thrones in that sense.

Basically what this stuff boils down to is this:

This is what happens when you hire non-creative people to do creative jobs.

This is what happens when you hire people who only see the product and the dollar amount, and can't think of solutions to the problems that arise throughout the process. Because nothing ever goes 100% according to plan.

As much as I hate where this came from, it's something I have to admit makes so much sense: My friend who works for Victoria's Secret told me a piece of feedback she got from the corporate office once in regards to increasing sales.

"It's not that customers don't want customer service – they just don't want your version of customer service."

Something didn't fail because you tried it once and it didn't work – it failed because you didn't see the whole picture and change your actions according.

Things like this don't fail because they are bad. They fail because people start cutting corners. They fail because people don't understand the scope of the project. They fail because they are allowed to fail.

Which, ironically, is the opposite of the general message shows like this are usually trying to tell their audience.

Klance (kinda?)

Definitely not my best work but I’m really happy I finally got it written out.

   Keith angrily smashed at the control panel of his small ship, cursing under his breath. The flashing red of the holographic screens flickered before him, taunting him. With a loud frustrated noise, he opened the door to the ship and climbed out. Thick black smoke clouded his vision, soon filling even his nose when his helmet retracted.

   The boy tried to keep his hopes up, even as the negative thoughts filled his head. He kept telling himself that one of the paladins would see his distress signal and come for him. That everything would be fine.

   Nearly an hour passed before Keith completely lost hope. He was frustrated, cold, and a bit hungry as well. The suit he was equipped with had the ability to protect him from explosions, gunshots, and simple slices from a knife. But being on the ice planet, he was quick to realize the suits weren't meant to be worn in harsh weather conditions like these. A feature that should have been implemented into the suit before the rest.

   Keith decided to give it ten more minutes before he tries to find shelter. Something he didn't think would be possible in this frozen wasteland. Pulling his hood over his head further, he hugged his legs and glared at nothing in particular. He had nothing but himself to blame for this. The boy did get himself caught.

   Exactly eight minutes later and what he thought would be his rescue ended in disaster. A few good miles out from were he crashed, another ship crashed. He nearly screamed in frustration, his anger towards this whole situation showing. "Maybe it's not them." He whispered to himself, hating how his voice quivered thanks to the cold. Taking one last look at his ruined ship, he set out towards the crashed ship.

   The running had helped slightly at getting Keith warm, the sudden flow of blood wouldn't last long. "Damnit." He cursed, seeing the damage of the new ship. It definitely wasn't as bad as his but it wouldn't fly out of here that's for sure. The ship wasn't part of the Marmora and Keith would have guessed the paladins to come in their lions. But, he has been wrong before.

   Lance stumbled out, the glass of his helmet busted. He was a bit disoriented from the ambush he had a moment ago, leaving him to glance at Keith and just stare. As he finally organized his thoughts, realizing the situation at hand, he did the best thing he could think of. "Come here often?" Yes, flirt. Flirting and joking where a part of Lance's coping methods, it helped him feel like less of a fuck up. And boy did he feel like a fuck up right now.

"Christ, Lance." Keith rolled his eyes along with shaking his head. There were a few things that he wanted to call him in that moment but pushed that aside he looked the taller male over. He didn't look injured, a bit roughed up but that's expected from a crash landing. "Why didn't you come in red?" He asked, tone shaking a bit with the frigid wind but it still came out harsh sounding.

Lance glanced to the ruined ship, trying to come up with the best excuse. He couldn't exactly go telling Keith he rushed to get here, that would make him sound desperate and not like himself. "I didn't think that would be necessary." Lance looked back at Keith in time to see him roll his eyes again. And he knew it was disappointment, Keith's eyes practically swimming with it.

   "Next time don't think. Coming in the lions would always be a better option." Lance tried ignoring the obvious, but subtle way Keith talked down to him. Like he was a kid that didn't understand something as simple as 2+2.

   "Well maybe next time I won't drop everything to come save you. So ungrateful." Lance felt his face flush a bit, realizing just what he had said. But he didn't go to cover it up, deciding that maybe that would make Keith feel bad for being so mean to him. Sure Lance hadn't really been thinking when he saw the distress signal, but that's no reason for Keith not to at least appreciate his efforts. "Whatever. The others were out when the signal came through so it might be a while before they can see it."

   "Great." Keith pulled his hood over his head more, turning and walking away from the smoking ship. There was no use waiting out in the open, hypothermia would set in long before the other paladins arrived if they stayed there. Keith didn't wait for Lance, didn't slow down when the taller boy called his name and rushed after him, his mind determined to find shelter.

   A small ice cave hadn't been very far from the crash and even though it didn't provide any warmth it at least stoped the wind. Lance had remained quiet while following Keith, observing the white surrounding. The only noise he finally did make was a loud tapping on the light blue ice walls surrounding them. It echoed farther down the cave.

   Keith shook his hands in an attempt to rid the numbness from his fingers. It didn't help much but it was better than keeping them still for to long. He wished there had been something to start a fire with but the planet was nothing but ice.

   "You're cold?" Lance finally spoke, tone laced with concern and a bit of confession. He would have expected the Blades to have better suits, at least to work in harsh weather like the paladin suits. Another concern to add to the list he made as soon a Keith left. Not that he didn't have a list for everyone, it's just he may or may not worry about Keith and his reckless habits more.

   Keith looked back at Lance, a look that clearly said 'No shit.' It was quick to leave though, softening a bit as a shiver racked through him. "Nothing I can't handle." It was pride and arrogance and a bit of stubbornness. Though he knew it was stupid but thanks to months spent with Lance making things a competition Keith felt the need to prove himself. A stupid time to do so but he was reckless and at this point would probably take hypothermia better than Lance's boasting.

   And Lance could tell that, sensing it as soon as the words left Keith's mouth. He wasn't completely obvious to things, especially these kind of things. Growing up in a crowded home made reading between the lines easier along with reading body language. "Right." He mumbled, watching Keith start to pace back and forth. There wasn't much he could do, unsure if the guy would accept any help or punch him for trying. So Lance sat down, leaning against the cold wall and watched.

   Pacing helped until his joints ached from both the cold and being used. With a sigh he leaned against the wall opposite of Lance and sat down. The cold slowly seeping through the material of his suit, making his back feel colder than any other part. But like his fingers and toes, his back went numb to the stinging cold. It brought on another shiver, his body shaking now but he couldn’t stop it even if he tried.

Lance sighed and stood up, walked over to Keith with much confidence and determination. He wasn’t about to watch his friend freeze to death, not after everything else they’ve been through that could have killed them. So he sat down beside the other, wrapping his arms around him and pulling him close. “Obviously the Blades need better suits so until then suck it up and let me help.” Trying to sound indifferent about it, Lance looked towards the entrance of the cave just hoping the others wouldn’t be to long.

Keith was tense, feeling a bit awkward with being this close to Lance. He would have felt awkward with it being anyone other than Shiro but that was because he’s known Shiro the longest. Plus, he liked Lance, as much as he didn’t like to admit it sometimes. Being with the Blades, he didn’t get to see the other paladins often and he’d be lying if he said he didn’t miss them. So he tried relaxing, finding it a bit easier to do with the subtle warm now surrounding him. Keith moved closer to him, burying his face in the crook of Lances neck. It was hard to object, not only because his voice would come out a gibbering mess thanks to the cold but also because Lance was really warm and he really wasn’t.

They stayed like that until rescuers came, Keith nearly having passed out due to hypothermia finally settling in. Lance had helped kept it at bay but there’s only so much one person can do in these conditions. The others helped them up which didn’t really work with Keith, his muscles tense and frozen. He was carried to the lions, both joining Hunk in his lion. Hunk had been the most worried like the good friend that he was, he was a crying mess but he was really happy they were both okay.

Lance set Keith on the floor, next to the open vent blowing heat. He stayed with him though, helping the best he could to bring life back into the others fingers. “Next time I’ll bring red,” his tone was quiet and bit unhappy. This probably wouldn’t be forgotten from his memory for a while.

“I-It’s fine Lance.” Keith mumbled, leaning more towards the vent. It wasn’t blowing a lot of heat or anything to hot, that would just kill his frozen body. “You showed u-up, that’s all that m-matters.” Finally the shivering came back, a good sign that he would really be okay. And even though Lance still felt like this situation could have gone better, he would be happy that Keith was okay.

Here’s an old summary for the superhero au fic (Title is almost definitely gonna change):

tbh I’m not greatat writing romance and I don’t find it particularly fun to write?? So more like kallurance-leaning slightly-shippy gen but w/ever not important OKAY SO first the backstory and oh boy it’s very convoluted and doesn’t make much sense right now so strap in: 

I was thinking the story would be set in acyperpunk-style AU, wherein Voltron is a team of underground heroes trying totake down the Galra- a sinister corporation who have essentially taken oppressive controlof the city through widespread use of their technology.  

Back when the GalraCorporation were just coming into power, team Voltron was first employed byAltea Industries- Galra’s rival company- as a heroic task-force charged withprotecting the citizens of the city. Before the story begins an “accident”happens  at Altea Industries (obviously a deliberate attack organised byGalra) that left the founder of the company dead and his daughter Allura, heirto Altea industries and member of the Voltron force, in a coma she’s yet towake up from. This is two years before the story begins.

For a short time afterthe incident, the four remaining members of Voltron (Keith, Lance, Pidge and Hunk) tried to keep the teamtogether and continue their work as vigilante heroes. They officially split upafter Keith leaves the group to look for his best-friend-slash-psuedo-brother Shiro, who went missing and isbelieved to have been taken by the Galra. Keith’s decision to leave caused anargument between him and Lance, which led to a rift in the team and the othermembers drifting away for their own reasons.

Keith was captured by theGalra in his attempts to find Shiro, and has spent a year imprisoned and subjectedto the torture of having his powers being experimented on. It’s revealed at somepoint that Keith let himself be captured deliberately so he could look forShiro on the inside- while he was there he discovered that Shiro has beenbrainwashed by the Galra and is working as one of their law enforcers. He doesn’t recognise Keith at all, and Keith realises that without Shiro’s help he’s stuck as the Galra’s prisoner. 

After the other three split, Lance is left as the soleactive member of Voltron, and has spent the two years prior to the start of thestory working to undermine the Galra and protect the city as much as he’s able,turning himself into a wanted fugitive in the process and living isolated inhiding. He’s the only one still in contact with Coran, who is protecting Allura while she’s in a coma, and they both spend the years watching over her and never losing hope that she’ll wake up.

I had some complicated plot stuff planned where Altea, before it was attacked, was in the middle of producing a piece of super-tech that would allow them to take down the Galra and restore freedom to the city. The tech shared the name “Voltron” with their team of heroes, and worked as a power-augmentation device that would allow the team to mentally connect with one another and boost their powers. The attack on Altea industries doubled as an attempt by the Galra to steal it, but somehow when she was caught in the firefight Allura used her astral projection ability to merge her consciousness with the Voltron device. The real reason she won’t wake up in present-day is that she’s still mentally connected to Voltron, which is locked away deep in a Galra facility, miles away. 

So that’s where everyone’s at! The story revolves around Lance trying to resurrect team Voltron- finding and reconnecting with his old teammates and convincing them to take another shot at the Galra- while also dealing with everyone’s separate trauma and the fact that poor Shiro is still mind-controlled and basically acting as the main villain for the entire first act. 

The story begins withPidge contacting Lance for the first time since Voltron’s disbandment, claimingthat she’s been sent information from an anonymous source containing Keith’swhereabouts, and instructions on how to break him out. 

Pidge and Hunk reluctantly agree to team up once again for the sake of rescuing Keith, and they break into the Galra research facility he’s being held in.

During his time as a prisoner Keith learnt that Voltron is being kept in the same facility as him and the Galra are running tests on in. Mid break-out he convinces the others to find and retrieve it.

They rescue Keith, and when they reconvene at Coran’s hideout and bring the device within her range, Allura manages to separate her consciousness from it and finally wakes up. Yay! Everyone is confused and horrified by this revelation!! Allura, you’ve been a brain-ghost infused with a piece of stolen technology this whole time?? And the Galra have been messing with Voltron without realising you were hitching a ride?? That’s gotta have consequences, right??

AND NOW THE SUPERPOWERS:because that’s the most fun part of superhero aus obviously

I wanted to try and be abit more creative with the powers and stay away fromelemental/bending type ones lol. The only one I’m pretty set on is Allura, the others’ powers are things I’m still working out and would love some help with if anyone has any cool ideas! I’m totally okay with everyone having more than one superpower. Here’s what I’ve got so far:

Allura: 

One of the world’s most powerfultelepaths/psychics. Can communicate telepathically, “astral project” herconsciousness to other locations within a certain perimeter, and read minds. 

Perhaps has some of her VLD-canon Altean powers eg. can communicate withanimals. 

She can also manipulate other people’s thoughts and perceptions to createillusions. Can’t physically shapeshift but can create the illusion that she looks different. 

As well as abilitiesof the mind, she has a strong connection with spirit/essence; eg. can senseother’s whereabouts or tell when they’re being influenced by an externalsource. Cannot heal physical injuries but has some sway over ailments of thespirit and mind. 

Power augmentation through a conduit: Being connected to Voltron for so long merged her essence with it, so now she can wield it as a conduit to boost people’s power, or like,,, direct and control Voltron’s innate power-boosting abilities at will via her telepathy (tbh I’m bullshitting a bit here while I throw ideas around lol)

Keith: 

If anyone in this AU is gonna have element-based powers it’sgonna be Keith- either he has fire affinity (can create and control fire +heat) or I could ramp up the angst and have him go full-on Jean Grey Phoenixmode ehehehe. 

The other main idea I had was power negation- upon physical contact he can cancel other people’spowers out. This would be interesting if it’s something he doesn’t havefull control over, and I reckon it’s something the Galra would take a lot ofinterest in using to their own advantage- would also be an interesting oppositeto Allura’s power augmentation ability. 

The other things I had listed aspossibilities for Keith are all endurance/enhancement-based powers eg. Enhancedspeed, dexterity and agility, night vision, regenerative/accelerated healingetc. All of these could be innate or they could be powers given to him by theGalra in an attempt to turn him into a weapon like they did Shiro.

Lance: 

Also not settledon anything for Lance but I did want him in part to have more compulsion andcharisma-based powers that fit his more sociable personality. He hascharmspeaking, a hypnotic ability that lets him influence the thoughts and actionsof the person he’s talking to. Even when he’s not using the ability he has away with persuasion. 

I also like the idea of him having omniligualism (thepower to speak all languages) or a similar variant that allows him to be easilyunderstood by and communicate with anyone despite language barriers.

I had an earlier ideathat everyone’s powers, where applicable, would be based on their original lion’spowers in vld canon? I’ve mostly scrapped that at this point but I do stilllike the idea of Lance having a sort of echolocation type of thing- maybe morelike he can feel the vibrations of structures around him and instantly puttogether a mental-map of the area. If he knocks against the outside wall of abuilding then he can feel out the layout of the interior, along those lines.Think Toph Beifong.

I also wanna give him low-level telekinesis because I think he’d had fun with that lol.

Shiro: 

I actually likethe idea of Shiro not having any powers originally; the Galra imbued him withsome abilities through his prosthetic arm that he wasn’t born with. The worst one isthe power to manipulate and deconstruct organic matter; the Galra intended forhim to use it to destroy and kill, but I had a thought I liked a lot where Shiro takesownership of it after they save him from the brainwashing, and he eventuallylearns to use it to heal and becomes the team’s go-to doctor.

I might scrap the idea ofhim not originally having any powers, depends if I can come up with anything.Maybe I can go back to my they-have-their-og-lion’s-powers idea and give himteleportation, and he eventually learns how to do it mentally and can astralproject.

Okay actually NightCrawler is my favourite superhero and I’m gonna fuckin let Shiro nightcrawl,fight me.

Pidge: 

Technopathy,obviously!!! She can do pretty much anything with technology, and I wasthinking that similar to VLD canon where Pidge adds her own modifications to herlion to give it new powers, in this AU she makes a lot of devices of her ownthrough her technopathy that give her access to a lot of manufactured superpowers eg. Invisibility/cloaking,electricity manipulation, some other cool stuff idk yet.

She also has eideticmemory and low-level telekinesis which she mostly just uses to help herretrieve objects in her lab when she’s hyperfocused and doesn’t wanna get up.

Enhanced memory, though not photographic or near-infalliable like Pidge’s is, and he’s kinda useless with it (mostly just usesit to subject people to long-winded anecdotes about his crazy life)

Omnilingualism. Thinks this makes him a gooddiplomat but historically it’s just gotten him into trouble with more people.

He’s spent the entire time since Voltron’sdisbandment guarding Allura while she’s asleep, protecting her from assassinationattempts, so it’d be cool if he had some other kind of power that allowed himto do this easily? Not anything flashy, an ability that a lot of people wouldunderestimate or dismiss as harmless, but something that’s let him keep themboth safe while she’s so vulnerable.  

AND THAT’S ALL I’VE GOT FOR NOW I hope it sounds interesting??? It’s kinda a complicated mess atm but I have fun thinking about this AU and I’d like to do something with it soon.

Sick VLD headcanons under the cut. I tried to differentiate them from the other ones I’ve seen floating around, but any similarities are innocently lifted rather than intentionally stolen. 🤒😷😴

Lance

As a sickie:

• Actually has a pretty sturdy immune system. He’s kind of cocky about it though. Like, there isn’t much of an effort on his part to avoid germs because he’s so confident he can resist them. This is why on the infrequent occasions he does get sick, it tends to sneak up on him. 

• Mildly dramatic. He won’t start writing up a will or anything, but if he comes down with something, he’s not subtle about it. The type to sprawl out on a cold floor (tile, linoleum, the metal on the castle, etc) if he’s feeling feverish. Will not move once he’s down, everybody just has to walk around him.

• It was easier for him to deal with getting sick on Earth. On Earth he could use it to his advantage to skip class or get extra attention from his family. In space it’s more difficult for him, first of all because of the additional responsibilities, but also because it feeds his insecurity. He doesn’t want to be the weak leak on a mission. That said, it becomes a boasting point if he manages to do well anyway. He might brag about shooting down sentries while being infected with “alien plague” and that sort of thing.

• Keeps a cough now and then. He could be mostly over a cold for like a week and still have a lingering cough. This worries the others, but is the kind of thing that clears up eventually. Usually, anyway.

As a caretaker:

• Actually awesome. The guy has superb emotional intelligence, man. He can tell when someone doesn’t feel good and he just wants to make them feel better. Very attentive to sick friends, even if they’re cranky. The first person to ask if you need to sit down, or offer a glass of water.

• Pretty good at cheering people up, really. Promises whoever’s sick that they’re gonna get over it, tries to keep them focused on the positive but doesn’t push too hard to force it either. Being sick is a bummer and he empathizes.

• Won’t shove medicine down anyone’s throat, but isn’t really a pushover about it either. If the patient doesn’t take it, that’s on them when it takes longer to get better. He tried.

Pidge

As a sickie:  

• Pitiful. Poor thing gets hit really hard by germs. She isn’t dramatic but it’s always painfully obvious when she’s coming down with something. She’s so quiet that it gives everybody this uneasy sense of wrong and she’s mopey too. Not whiny, really, but just…sad. Like a puppy that lost its favorite toy. She’s so pale the second she runs a fever, she’s red as a tomato.

• Only picks at food. Like, she will try to eat. She isn’t the kind of sickie to swear off on food. Logically she knows it’s important to get in the nutrients, but once the food is in front of her, she can’t actually force herself to swallow. She just stirs the soup until it’s cold. Uses her fork to scrape faces into the toast without nibbling past the crust.

• Because of her allergies, she’s pretty used to being stuffed up and the congestion of colds and like is a familiar state to slug through. But stomach bugs pulverize her. If she pukes her guts up for three days, she’s still feeling like a bear clawed through her stomach three days later. It’s just that sore.

• Performs like a compliant, obedient zombie. If her team is like yeah, okay you need to go to bed right now, she does so without protest. Or if it’s the opposite and it’s like, sorry you’re sick but this mission can’t wait, she just as easily goes along with it.

As a caretaker:

• She tries her best, but she gets overwhelmed by difficult patients. If a cranky sickie is yelling at her, she’ll probably throw a box of tissues at their head or something. Or if a delirious one starts wandering or rambling, she’s gonna freak out. Does a lot better with docile patients.

• Stays up late to watch over whoever isn’t feeling good, whether they gave her grief or not.

• Assuming it’s just a cold and the sickie isn’t suffering too bad, she’ll test alien remedies out on them. Particularly Olkarion ones because she’s fond of their culture.

Keith

As a sickie:

• He won’t acknowledge that he’s sick until he has to. He ignores silent symptoms, like various aches and sore throats. Once it’s past that point and he’s audibly/visibly ill, he’ll take some aspirin and go to bed early but not much more than that. Tries to lone wolf it as much as possible, even if he appreciates that his friends want to help.

• Used to get awful ear infections as a kid. Painful, dizzying, high fever kind. Bore it stoically even then. It would take passing out in class for authority figures to notice like, hey, this kid is sick. To date, when something’s coming on, he’ll usually feel it in his ears first. That uncomfortable pressure behind the eardrums and whatnot.

• Is the embodiment of that popular whump trope. Yeah, you know the one. The character that gets sick and proceeds to push themselves to the point of collapse? That’s Keith.

As a caretaker:

• Competent but a quiet worrier. Always double checks labels to make sure he’s giving whoever the right medicine and the right dosage of said medicine.  

• Hangs around with the infected rather than periodically checking on them, never particularly concerned about catching the bug. Always lets his patient pick the tv/movie since they don’t feel well, whether or not it’s anything he finds interesting.

• Observant, probably the first to notice when someone else is getting sick. And then he’s hypocritical, because he’ll call them out on it despite being the type to hide it when he’s ill himself.

Hunk

As a sickie:

• Um, mean. Or at the very least, grouchy and testy. Company grates on him when he’s sick and is definitely not appreciated. He’s the type to hibernate like an animal to sleep something nasty off, and anybody hovering around is in the way of that regardless of good intentions.

• Handles stomach bugs gracefully, if grumpily. Constant motion sickness and anxiety means he’s nauseous half the time anyway. He does better with them than regular flus or colds because pushing through nausea is basically normalcy.

• Gets knocked off his feet by any ailment with muscle fatigue. General weakness takes a lot out of him. He’s a huge dude packing major bodily strength so he feels it super hard when it just depletes in the wake of a bad flu or something.

As a caretaker:

• Very gentle. Conscious of germs, but uses sanitizer discreetly so as not to offend the ill.

• Obviously the first person to whip up some soup and comfort food. Also sneaks vitamins into his friends’ food if it seems like there’s something going around.

• Surprisingly calm when it comes to dealing with delirious patients. Yeah, on the inside it’s freaking him out, but he realizes it’s important to remain outwardly chill to provide as much comfort as he can and hopefully get them to relax. You can’t get a delirious person to relax if you’re obviously losing your shit.

Shiro

As a sickie:

Languishes when he comes down with anything respiratory. I think most peeps pretty much take it as canon that Shiro has a deviated septum because of his facial scar and I am included in this. Even the sniffles fucking wreak this guy.

He tries to keep it together because he’s a leader, downplaying illnesses even if they’re bringing on nosebleeds and migraines. He’ll keep it up as long as he can, unless it gets bad enough that his poor state becomes a liability for the team. He’ll take a step back at that point, begrudgingly accepting that he’s too sick to function. When it reaches this point, it is immensely frustrating for him.

Laying in bed makes him restless and sometimes a little snappy. It gives him too much time to think, with nothing to distract him from being sick. Nothing to distract him from those intrusive thoughts that stem from his trauma. He won’t ask the others to hang around his bedside because it feels like burdening them, but secretly prefers company if only to keep away the silence.

Impatient. Antsy about the speed of recovery, always worries that he won’t recover fast enough even if he’s only a day or two into a cold. Overexerts himself at the first sign of recovery and pushes himself too hard too fast, which could very well land him right back in bed.

As a caretaker:

Silently reluctant. You would never know it because he does such a good job of encouraging the sickie to get better and piling extra blankets on their bed, with reassuring shoulder pats and soothing smiles. But because illnesses hit him so hard, he’s internally nervous about contagion.

He feels guilty for thinking of the other paladins as biohazards when they’re sick. Obviously it’s not their fault. Nonetheless, he is painfully cognizant of the fact that when they get the sniffles, he’s likely to end up battling a serious sinus infection. It’s not fair but it is what it is.

While he goes against his better instincts and actively plays nurse anyway, he is always washing. Vigorously scrubs his natural hand until the skin is flaky and cracked, maybe even bleeding. Cleans his prosthetic one with strong antiseptic wipes, over and over and over. If he can sneak in a hot shower or two, he absolutely will.

Allura

As a sickie:

Out of it. Really weird and spacey. There’s no having a conversation with her. She’s that person that gets delirious even running a low grade fever and the next thing you know, she’s organizing the items in the fridge by color even though she can barely stand.

The kind of patient who will agree go to bed, but wants to work while she’s in bed rather than actually resting. She draws out battle strategies while she’s all laid up, but because of the aforementioned delirium, they usually aren’t good ones. Once she’s recovered, she either revises them or tosses them out entirely. 

•Sensitive to noises and sounds, particularly sounds. The team takes care to speak in low tones around her when she’s sick. She gets headaches and body aches rather easily, and hot baths are her preferred method to relieve the latter, whether or not she’s feverish.

As a caretaker:

Mostly confused. Her team is primarily composed of Earthlings and they don’t come with health manuals.

She isn’t particularly nurturing but she certainly means well. Might throw a patient with chills into a bath hot enough to boil lobsters, or force fed them a few gallons of soup.

•The one aspect of care taking she’s genuinely good at is companionship. Being sick is boring and Allura is great at telling stories. Her voice is also very soft and mellow and serves as a soothing lullaby to any sickie having trouble going to sleep.

Bonus Matt and Romelle because I’m already this far.

Matt

As a sickie:

Susceptible to chills. He can never get warm enough when he’s sick. He layers up big time, fuzzy socks, thick scarf, sweaters over long sleeve shirts, big ol’ blanket over his shoulders.

 Is not particularly cleanly. That blanket over his shoulders? Yeah, it’s also his giant tissue. It’s full of boogers and spittle and he is too sick to care.

 Drinks a ton of hot tea. It’s the only time he drinks hot tea in fact, when he’s healthy, he prefers iced tea. But when he’s sick, the teapot is always on. sweetens with honey to help his throat.

As a caretaker:

Indulgent, particularly if it’s Pidge who’s not feeling well. Whether you’re Pidge or not, you’re getting candy.

Bundles patients up in blanket burritos, whether they have the chills or not. Somethings this works out great. Sometimes the blanket burritos are too tight to escape.

Pretty good at keeping track of symptoms and the way they fluctuate over the course of an illness.

Romelle.

As a sickie

 Complains a lot. Overshares all of her symptoms, no matter what she’s come down with or how gross others might find it.

Needy. She doesn’t necessarily require taking care of, per se, but she does not want to be alone.

Will not stay in bed. It’s too boring and all her sheets are soaked in sweat and sticky, so how is she supposed to sleep anyway?

As a caretaker:

Simultaneously attentive and an asshole. She will spoon feed a sickie soup but make fun of them for being snotty and gross in between every sip.

Will undertake all the chores of the ill and then tell them she does a better job anyway. Once they’re back on their feet, she should show them how to do things right.

Loves pointing out all the ways an illness can get worse and goes into graphic detail with a cheery smile on her face.

Grooms her patients if they’re not feeling up to doing it themselves with a genuine tenderness. Brushes their hair, wipes them down with clean cloths, doesn’t make a big deal out of helping them change clothes. She’s just a total mixed bag.

They're ALL found family? Which means allura and lance, lance and keith, keith and shiro, etc... I just...I just don't get it!! They're all in the same boat ahhhhhh

Ok, I realised I was basically answering this ask and another at the same time so tried to edit and ended up deleting the other ask.

part of the issue here is a fervent belief in love at first sight. that is, that if you like someone, you have to have always liked that person. hence why mutual pining kl seems to be the default kl, rather than them legitimately not getting along and then growing beyond that. it seems that all their criticisms of other pairings are based around that idea, that feelings don’t and change change. this is why they think allura doesn’t make sense: she disproves their stupid ideas.

(I hope you both see this and don’t mind that I answered them as one. I answered the one just above first, and it got really into found family so it pretty much answered the top one.)

I think the reason behind this is that most klantis are young and therefore don’t have much or any experience of the real, deeper sort of love (in a romantic way). They’ve experienced it only with family and close friends.

A lot of the k/lance content I see is very much based on mutual pining or one having a crush on the other; and those crushes usually begin very early after “meeting”. It follows the pattern of a lot of children’s media where the protagonist has a crush on a classmate despite the two never having spoken. It’s very much a “love at first sight”, “butterflies in the stomach” scenario, and the “love” (infatuation) is based on physical appearance and a distant, removed perception of the crush’s personality.

The found family dynamic is a huge part of VLD, as you pointed out, but of all the relationships between the paladins, Shiro and Keith’s has been given the most screen time. They have a long-running, deep-rooted, unconditional love for each other. And with the exception of that one episode where Shiro was a stuttering mess over Keith’s return, the two are usually very calm around each other. We don’t see them getting blushy or nervous around each other, so young fans can easily dismiss the romantic potential and relate it purely to familial love.

But it get’s hypocritical when the antis don’t extend this dynamic to the entire team. They almost unanimously view Shiro/other paladin as a father/child relationship or older sibling/younger sibling. But they don’t extend it to all the paladin/paladin relationships that don’t include Shiro; they only say that about the ships they don’t like or approve of.

Ki/dge and Pla/nce and A//urance and Hi/dge, etc are all “sibling relationships” in their eyes and often the only exception is K/lance.

I would love to see it become more commonplace for k/lance works to explore the change in their relationship - I want them to acknowledge the antagonism in the beginning (and not pass if off as “kid pulls girl’s pigtails because he likes her), and then explore how they slowly moved past that and began to respect each other. Keith and Lance truly started off at odds, and if any healthy romantic relationship were to develop between them, then they would both need to grow and experience a change in their feelings.

If they can acknowledge a change there, why can’t they acknowledge a change with She/ith or A//urance? It comes from a lack of understanding and often an unwillingness to listen to others (*cough* ageism). They believe it only works in one direction:

CRUSH -> DATING -> DEEP BOND

And they dismiss the opposite, which is what She/ith and A//urance would be:

DEEP BOND -> ROMANTIC FEELINGS -> DATING

As they get older and gain more experience in what love actually is and how it develops, many of them will probably (hopefully) stop being so narrow-minded about it all.

More Voltron Season 7 Shit

Okay so, my thoughts on season 7. Don't know how many people will see or care but ya know, more perspective is better perspective. I want to also say, these are simply my thoughts and opinions but I do respect any counter opinion. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but how they execute and express it is what defines them and what people should be aware of.

Shiro: A gay legend and plenty of rep. Also, a tragic character. This man has been through some shit, he was diagnosed with a disease, captured by Galra, experimented on, cloned about a gajillion times, was killed, and came back and thrown into the midst of a space war he was absent from for so long. But he carries on, he doesn't let things drag him down, he's still everyone's rock. Here's also why we didn't see him cry for Adam. Of course he's upset, Adam was important to him. But everyone grieves in different ways and timing sucks. I had a family member recently pass and it increased my depression exponentially, but I didn't cry. I had other matters to deal with like being there for my brother, he was closer to this family member than anyone, he needed me to be strong. That's how Shiro feels, everyone sees him as a leader and the Galra are on their way to kill. He's gonna be more worried about the only family he has left and making sure they stay alive. And anyone using the "Pidge got to cry for her "dead" brother" excuse needs to remember situations and timing. Pidge is a 15 year old girl who was left alone with no threat of immediate danger looming over her, she had time to cry. Pidge is badass so if she thought anyone she loved was in danger, we wouldn't have seen her grieving too long. She'd be back in battle mode. But that wasn't the situation.

Adam: Okay yes, I understand. People feel we were given a false impression of his role in the show but hear me out. We were simply told Adam would be important to Shiro, and is his significant other. That's it. No one said there would be happy times and after seeing the way they broke up, expecting a reconcile doesn't seem probable. And the excessive advertising everyone was talking about is well, marketing strategy. Voltron is essentially a company no matter how you slice it. If they see positive fan response to a character, they're gonna advertise them as a selling point. It's a sneaky strategy but not unheard of and not surprising. I mean, think of other tv shows or movies. Noob Noob from Rick and Morty is relatively popular and the biggest thing he added to the show was "god damn!" but fans loved him, hell I love him. I'd fall hook line and sinker for his advertising and that's what companies see and want. I do believe we over hyped Adam and in turn Voltron didn't shut us down on our over hyping.

Allura and Lance: Listen, I used to hate the idea of this. I didn't quite think Allura deserved Lance but ya know what? That's not for me to decide. Because it's not my story to tell and my feelings aren't what Allura and Lance are feeling. If she's willing to save Lance, if she's concerned for his safety, if she's only looking for his happiness then hell yeah. Power to them both because we already know that's what Lance wants for her. They have potential to work great together. But ya know what? So do Lance and Keith. I'm a multi shipper and I see potential for a lot of ships to work out. It's all up to them who they fall for, we can't force anything. That'll have the opposite affect.

Season 7 atmosphere: Life and War. It's all about how unfair life and war are. It's not supposed to be happy go lucky. It was meant to destroy you but show you no matter how shitty life gets, there's always hope. Yes Adam died. No Shay didn't die. I saw that as a point someone made. People who don't deserve to die, die. And people who deserve to live, live. My previously mentioned family member passed and god, she didn't deserve the ending she had, not by any means. Shit happens. You can't change it and bitching about it just creates a bigger problem and more negativity that we should be battling. Easier said than done, but that's life. That's life.

I think Adams death just makes sense too, a point I neglected. Shiro is again, a tragic character. Things don't just work out for him. And if Adam can keep up with Shiro, he's a damn good pilot. Him being on the front defense line makes sense, you put your best soldiers in the field first. And the Galra are ruthless. They're not gonna spare Adam for plot convenience.

I completely enjoyed season 7, not a thing I disliked.

I can't wait to see where season 8 takes us and the upcoming arcs we have waiting for us. Everything will work out the way it's supposed to even if it's not what we all want or plan but again, that is life.

Forgive me for asking a Langst question since I know that you don't like Lance being coddled too much by fans but do you think that like Shiro, Lance is pushing Allura as the Heart of the team either because he doesn't see himself as one or that he doesn't want to admit he misses Blue? I'm not saying he's resentful towards Allura but he was going to step down as Paladin because he didn't want to steal Blue back from Allura.

I’d argue it’s not coming from the same place.

Because ironically, when Lance is insecure, he and Shiro go in the opposite direction.

Insecure Shiro tends to belittle himself. He carries some very rigid standards and when he feels like he isn’t being enough, doing enough, those standards bite into him, and hard, and this will cause him to either try to double down on doing enough to feel like he earns self-esteem, or flat-out act like he’s not important or that someone else should be doing his job instead.

Insecure Lance is the one who self-aggrandizes. Who tries to take other roles that aren’t his, who wants to posture about being a hero more than he actually wants to do the right thing.

So in that sense, I come back to, Lance in s4e6 was calm and happy in a way that he really isn’t when he’s insecure. When he says “That was all you,” he doesn’t say it like someone who’s hating himself. Rather- he’s speaking in this soft, absolutely adoring manner. He just saw Allura do something amazing, he was there to inspire her and uplift her and his reward, really... was getting to watch her shine like that.

That’s a context where Lance isn’t denying his importance because he thinks it’s not good enough- but rather, I think he realizes what it means if he’s telling Allura that this is what Blue chooses in people. This is what it means to be the Blue Paladin.

Because, that’s kind of... him realizing and confidently moving into that role himself.

S4e6 is the clearest and most obvious time we’ve seen Lance kick into overdrive emotionally supporting someone, and the most dramatic tide-turning result.

My contention with reading “This isn’t a participation game, this is war,” as insecurity is that to me, it reads much more as... Lance has a clear sense that the important thing here is helping. He’s also openly entertaining, and not in a fearful manner, that he doesn’t have to be in a Lion to help. Even, that it’s possible that leaving Red, and not having a seated Lion, might help the situation on its own.

There’s a reason that Lance only brings it up once, as an offer to Keith, and never tries to push the issue. Because Lance’s focus is not on himself, and he’s not asking, or discussing, his own welfare or feelings- because those aren’t on the line. What he’s worried about is Keith. In effect, his comment here boils down to “I can give you Red back. It’s fine, I’m not going to push Allura out of Blue, but with Shiro back in action I don’t want you to feel like you have no place here, and I know how much Red means to you. I have a pretty good feeling about what connections in general mean to you.”

Lance says this because he’s offering to help Keith. And when Keith rebuffs that offer, Lance doesn’t worry about it.

“I'm… cold?” Jay chuckled and shaking his head while continuing to walk down the steps. It took them awhile but they finally got to the floor where all the cadets dorms are, which is the fourth through sixth floor but Lances dorm is on the fifth. Jay walked him all the way to his dorm but once they got there, there was a surprise. Well mainly for Lance because, when the fuck does Shiro go to other cadets dorms when it's not Keith's? Before Lance had arrived, with his wonderful companion, Shiro was worried out of his mind. He paced in front Lances door. Beforehand he'd knocked about five times before realizing Lance wasn't there. Which worried him even more. He needed to talk to Lance he didn't mean to say those thing he said but he was just so frustrated that day. Keith had been distant and cold with Shiro that day and it made him incredibly angry, but still, it was no excuse. Lance didn't deserve what had been said to him. What Shiro said to him. Lance is amazing. He may not know it yet but gods is he extraordinary. Besides Hunk, Shiro is the only one who knows how hard Lance works. He knows that Lance practices with the flight simulator after school hours and how he has straight A’s. How he's so reliable and strong, making him the person that his friends come to for advice and comfort. Now, Shiro starts to wonder. Does Lance have the support he need? Is he happy? Does he have his own personal lance to seek comfort and advice from? Shiro doesn't know but the answer to all his questions is, No. He doesn't. Yeah Lance parades himself as someone who has great confidence but there are nights that Lance would lay awake, but not fully awake, on his bed staring at his ceiling, tears streaming down the side of his face and onto the pillow. These night were the worst for Lance. He felt like he couldn't move or breathe, like he was watching himself crumble in front of his own eyes. These nights are the worst. Shiro stopped pacing once he heard people coming down the hallway. He recognized one voice, it was Lance. But he wasn't alone. “Ah, lieutenant Shirogane! Fancy seeing you here… why exactly are you here?” Jay greeted then asked. Confused because let's face it, it's unusual to see lieutenants at the cadets dormitories. “I… um … I need to talk to my cadet.” Jay looked down at Lance eyebrows arched in surprise. “Wow! You're Lieutenant Shirogane's cadet? Impressive! Only the best get to be mentored by him.” Jay messed up Lances hair in a brotherly fashion. But then he hooked his arm around Lance almost as if he knew that something was going on between them and the reason Lance had been crying on the roof. “Well I best be going now. See ya Lance!” Jay walked off but looked back over his shoulder to see how deflated Lance looked in front of Shiro. He wondered. Lance and Shiro stood there for a while, not talking nor making eye contact with one another. But finally Lance spoke. “I need to do some homework so I should go ins-” Lance was stopped mid sentence as he was reaching for the scanner, by Shiro's hand. He froze. Shiro never touched him. Not even when they trained together and Lance got knocked down. All Shiro would do is ignore him or talk at him about how should do better or try to copy Keith. He never touched Lance. “Lance I need to talk to you… please?” Shiro pleaded. Once again lance was avoiding his gaze. Lance knew that if he looked into his eyes he'd forgive Shiro, Lance doesn't want to forgive him but, at the same time he wants to talk to Shiro again. “Lance?” Shiro asked again hoping he'd get an answer. Lance pulled his arm from Shiro's strong yet gentle grip.

“Can I just go in my room?” Lance asked not wanting to have this conversation right now. He wasn't prepared for it, he doesn't think he'd ever be ready. “I would like to talk to you… I really need to.” The thought of Lance not ever speaking to him again scared him. It's only been a day since that day happened and it feels like it's been weeks. Shiro wants to explain to him that he's his best cadet despite what everyone thinks and Lance himself. Shiro does admit it, he is attached to Keith but compared to Keith Lance was someone he found comfort in. Like he could be himself. Lance accepts him for who he is without blinking and eye. With Keith, he's a little more timid and hesitant to speak to him. It's more Keith than Shiro who's timid and hesitant mainly because he's an orphan who lives alone and has trust issues. So Shiro tries to make him feel the same way Lance makes him feel. “Will you please talk to me?” Shiro pleads once more. His voice crack a little which makes Lance look up in shock. The one thing Lance hates to see is people that he cares deeply about, cry. He turns into a momma bear and tries to make them happy again. Shiro isn't crying, he's on the verge but he's not crying. Lance thanks the gods because he knows damn well if Shiro cried Lance would forgive him in a heartbeat. “I didn't expect you to be here. It surprised me…” Lance started, in a small voice. “But what surprised me the most...was how you made me feel.” Lance felt a lump in his throat. He felt like he was choking. Usually Lance is the type of person to say what's on his mind but right now, he can't. He knows he should because this could harm his education but gods his self-esteem has never been so low. “You're someone I admire, cherish, and wish nothing but happiness for you. And for you to tell me that you feel the exact opposite… I-” Lance stopped mid sentence, holding back tears, lips trembling. It took a second to catch his breath so he could continue talking.

“I want to talk and get back to normal, but right now I'm still picking up the pieces of me you broke so I can't. Physically, I can't.” “Lance please allow me to apologize. I know what I said to you was wrong-” “Wrong?” He scoffed. “It wasn't just wrong Shiro. You made me feel like I'm worthless. Like I'm not good enough for this school or as you said it ‘frankly I'm not good enough for you’. Do you know what that did to me?!” Lance yelled panting as his anger was starting to kindle. “Fuck, Lance. I'm so sorry! I didn't-” “Sorry doesn't fix things Shiro! You hurt me, twice, and I honestly don't know if I can forgive you. I can't find the courage to forgive. I don't… “ Lance choked on a sob. Shiro saw his lips tremble and it absolutely broke Shiros heart. But what confused Shiro was when Lance said that he hurt him twice. Shiro tried to think back on it, to see if he really did do something he didn't remember, but he couldn't. But as he look back on his memories he saw how oblivious and cold hearted he was towards Lance. He always thought Lance was just playing around and not taking things seriously, but now, Lance was just trying to make Shiro happy. That's all Lance wants. Is for Shiro to be happy. Gods Shiro is and idiot. Shiro tried to step to Lance back he backed away from Shiro. In shock and horror Shiro shook his head. “Please Lance, please I want to be able to be with you I you to talk to me like you usually do. This whole week has been hell for me and-”

“And you think letting it out on me was the best option to go to?” Lance scoffed, interrupting Shiro. “No Lance! I promise you I didn't mean to! Please Lance, please believe me.” Lance shook his head and dread washed over Shiro. “I don't want to forgive because I don't believe you. You've never been nice to me. And in case you haven't noticed, you're only ‘nice’ to me when Keith is actually talking to you!” Shiro wanted to reject his accusation but he knew it was true. “Just… please. Give me time. I need some time to focus on myself instead of others.” And with that Lance scanned his palm and rushed into his room. Leaving Shiro in complete shock. “Fuck!” Shiro screamed as he pulled at his hair, regretting every horrible and inconsiderate thing he did to Lance. Tears started to form at the rim of his eyes as he reminisced about Lance and how bubbly and thoughtful he was to Shiro. And how he was the exact opposite. He's been focused on how Keith feels about him so much he never noticed that Lance was the one that made him the happiest.

Why don't you believe keith could be the lgbt rep?

He could be, but we’ve gotten absolutely nothing on who his romantic interest is going to be (from interviews, which is what I base all my evidence on). The only time Keith’s romantic pursuits were brought up was in an interview with Steven Yeun, two days after season 2 dropped:

When the rest of the team finds out he’s part Galran, it kind of sours his relationship with Allura for a bit, but they are able to work through it. Talk me through that.

“I like playing this mystery of where the romance is. I don’t know where it is. It could be between anybody. That’s the natural evolution of this relationship. Even as a friendship, it has fits and turns and ups and downs. I think this is the beginning of a wonderful, wonderful storyline.”

That’s it. That’s all we’ve gotten on who Keith could fall in love with: some weird, cryptic answer that reads more like a riddle than a tease as to what’s coming. Lance, on the other hand, not only has already been confirmed to have a romantic interest, but has gotten a multitude of details on the characteristics of said romantic interest - namely, that they will be what he needs, not what he wants, and they will get him to a place opposite of where he started. These characteristics, when partnered with the fact that all the romance in this show is a slow burn, cancel out any and all female characters he’s interacted with thus far (Lauren Montgomery referred to the love interest with female pronouns, but that doesn’t mean anything; if she used gender neutral pronouns, that would instantly tell us who it would be). Keith, however, has not had any of his possible romantic interests (which only really include Lance and Allura) eliminated, because we don’t know anything about his romantic interests.

If you go through the characters one by one to see who they’ve interacted with, as a means to decipher who the rep will be, it becomes fairly obvious.

Hunk - clearly has an endgame with Shay. Pidge - younger than all of the characters, has not interacted with any girl her own age. Allura - has had strong interaction with Shay, but Shay’s endgame is with Hunk. Shiro - for a long time, I thought he would be with Matt, but since they only interacted once in the season despite being on the ship together (plus the fact that some people interpret Matt to be a teen), this doesn’t appear to be the case; too old for the other paladins. Coran - COULD have been in love with Alfor (remains to be seen). Keith - STRONG interaction with Lance, but also strong interaction with Allura, and nothing has been said in interviews to eliminate her. Lance - STRONG interaction with Keith, strong interaction with Allura, BUT the fact that his love interest will be what he needs, not what he wants, and he wants Allura, means it will not be her.

In addition, we have the official art Lauren Montgomery drew, in which Lance is holding the LGBT sign with Shiro’s hand on his shoulder.

So, what we’re looking at is a very possible love triangle, with Keith as the center. I’ve already brought this up before, but to reiterate: this would be an interesting subversion of the love triangle from past incarnations of the show, which had Allura in the center. Since all the old fans and the media are probably expecting the heteronormative love triangle, this would add a plot twist and “change things up”, which they always say they love to do.

I don’t know, obviously, if that’s going to happen; Keith and Lance could just simply end up together, without throwing Allura into the mix. But the reason I don’t include Keith with the LGBT rep options is because nothing has been said to remove Allura from his possible romantic options, while something HAS been said to remove her (and Nyma, AND Plaxum) from Lance’s. Unless the creative team has lied about the romance being slow burn, and intend to introduce a female love interest for Lance in the latter half of the show, it is illogical to say he will canonically fall for anyone but Keith.
