The person who sexually harassed me when we were in school together called my job today asking for an interview. I had to set them a time for tomorrow. They had no idea it was me of course, but their name on the caller ID left me shaking for a good few minutes after the call ended.

I, in the most polite, respectful, and diplomatic way I could, told my boss the nature of the situation and that if he were to consider hiring them, it would ultimately be them or me.

He didn't even hesitate before saying he absolutely wouldn't hire this person if it made me uncomfortable, he wouldn't take a chance on anything happening to me or someone else, and he'd make sure they don't know I work there when they interview.

I want to emphasize that this was all of 10-15 years ago. My experience certainly isn't the worst it could have been. But the fact that my boss took me at my word, took me seriously, and told me he understood without judgment nearly had me in tears.

I know the bar is low. But I've never felt valued as a person in any job until I got here. Especially by a man, in a position of authority. It just reminded me that it's not all bad out there and some people are genuinely good, at least in facets.

I'm very very grateful and I also want to remind anyone who may encounter a similar situation to speak up, stand up for yourself. You may not get the reaction that I did, but for me, risking my station seemed like an easier choice than being forced to work with my abuser.

started reading a new book today that I got for my birthday, some crime thriller which isn't really my thing but I'm giving it a try, and I'm only like 15 pages in and it has already thrown me for several curveballs. not even related to the murder!!

first a teenage girl is introduced, she's at her parents midsummer celebration and is having an awful time. relatable I like her. then it's revealed she's a very obnoxious vegan and because some of the food served is meat she posts on her instagram about how 'midsummer is murder!' (haha get it cause people are gonna die) so I instantly like her less but she's a teen whatever. then to pass the time she facetimes a boy who likes her, but she laments to herself about how he's nice but she doesn't like him back and that she might be asexual (hello??! who knew swedish crime authors knew about asexuality!!) so that makes her slightly cooler.

then people show up on a boat with guns and teen girl jumps into the lake to hide while her parents and everyone else are getting murdered. but her shades miraculously stay on. nice 👌

now main character gets introduced, woman author, former cop, who's gotten the task of writing the next book in the millennium series (you know girl with the dragon tattoo actual real life series) because the original author doesn't want to write more books?? she'd thought about this and the impact it would have on her life. she'd probably make a lot of money that she doesn't know what to do with, she doesn't really need or want a swimming pool... she still decides to write the book just to show the haters that she can!

lisbeth salander (character in millennium series) is a hacker though, and this woman doesn't know anything about hacking. to help her with this the publisher finds an actual hacker to help her. hacker has gender neutral name, is it a man or a woman? she asks. idk I never met them, publisher says, just meet them at this café they know what you look like.

she goes to the café, and soon what she assumes is a guy sits down in front of her. he's the hacker, or "cracker" as he calls himself. she notes that he's in his late twenties, about 20 years younger than her, has long black hair, pale, frail looking skin, and blue eyes. he looks like a metalhead but he's wearing a t-shirt with skalman (swedish cartoon turtle) on it. skalman? she asks. yeah he's my idol, the hacker says.

they talk about hacking and author lady gets some useful information for her book, while he also comments that he read one of her previous books and it was shit, but so is everything so whatever. she's a little hurt by this. afterward the have a smoke together outside. you wanna have sex? hacker guy asks. you're aware of the age difference right? authir responds, despite feeling somewhat aroused at the mention of sex. she hasn't slept with anyone in over a year you see. yeah, so? hacker says. what's the issue? that i won't become a father?

she contemplates this. let's not decide now, perhaps we could have a glass of wine and see where things go first, she says, intrigued by this strange guy.

Like "Patriot" at Worlds of Fun is just "Raptor" from Cedar Point with a red white and blue color scheme and theme where as Raptor is green and black/purple with a raptor/beast theme. They're both owned by Cedar Fair. There's MANY clones in cedar fair parks and they will sometimes just remove an attraction from a park and move it to another, sometimes rebranding it.

Also sometimes they will just repaint an old ride and completely rebrand it by changing one thing. Like the Mantis ride was a stand up coaster at cedar point and it is now Rougaru (idk if that's the spelling) and I think they only changed the color (yellow to orange) and the seats bc it's no longer a standing one :( which I'm sad ab bc I wanted to ride it but was too scared to.

Oh! And the little tips ab the rides like Gemini (a duel track coaster where one track has a red car and the other is blue and you "race") and how the red one is usually the one that wins

And like when people point out stuff like "at the top of [coaster] if you look to the left right before the drop you can see [attraction/place]."

I really liked watching those before a trip to the waterpark or amusement park sgdgdg and then when I'd go on the rides I would know what would happen which was exciting like ahh here it comes!

Anyway agdgdgdg I just had a big memory of that and had to info dump ab it real quick 😅

I keep seeing other Aros say things like "Having a crush sounds like an anxiety attack" and while I get the misunderstanding I need y'all to realize that it's literally just the vagueness of the wording that's making you think this.

Crushes often get described as causing a "racing heart" you know what also is described that way? someone being excited. Someone being overjoyed. and yes, someone feeling anxious.

And the thing is, it's not wrong to assume anxiety because yes - Crushes can cause a bit of anxiety but the reason for the anxiety is different. Someone may be anxious around a crush because they want their crush to like them and don't want to embarrass themselves. It's just the generic anxiety of wanting to be likable to people but instead just being geared towards a specific person.

There's also the fact that a crush, like anxiety, does trigger adrenaline. but so do many things, such as going on a roller coaster. People enjoy roller coasters just fine because of the adrenaline rush and everyone agrees that going on roller coasters aren't anxiety attacks.

Basically what I'm trying to get at here is "this sounds like an anxiety attack" shows a misunderstanding of symptoms and in some cases is willfully ignorant as it shows that you don't wish to learn beyond your own understanding. And this misunderstanding is due to how vague the wording used to describe crushes usually is. It's using words and symptoms that depending on the context can mean different things.

TL;DR Crushes are no more like "anxiety attacks" then getting an adrenaline rush on a roller coaster. It's okay to not understand something but maybe don't call what you don't understand an "anxiety attack"

I had read this fanfic for quite a while, and I have to say this is one of my favorite TFP fanfic ever. It was an emotional roller coaster.

So many horrors Optimus has been through, the heartwarming moment between Op and Team Prime and the satisfying conclusion. I cried while reading the last chapter, I'm not kidding LMAO
