absolutely OBSESSED with Lukey & Pangi's dynamic. WHAT IS GOING ON??????

At first, it seems obvious. Lukey is a pathetic cursed squishy boyfailure who's new to the server and hilariously underleveled. He dies in two hits with a fist. He forgets what he's doing every five seconds. He literally signed his soul away for a TOUR at the expense of his happiness, because he considered it an 'early summer sale'. Now he hears voices and sees ghosts and his just generally haunted. Not to mention he's absolutely terrified of every other member, constantly worried about going too far and apologizing over any joke. He's on one life.

Pangi's one of the strongest members on the server. Other than the main pvpers (who don't log on), he's easily the most skilled in traps, exploits, and general warfare. Even as the weakest lifestealer, he's still a lifestealer. He's finding a way to make an absurd nuke. He constantly threatens others and is close allies with all of the leaders of the factions. He's only lost one life, to a glitch with barrier blocks.

The power dynamic should be obvious here- and at first it is! Pangi jokingly threatens Lukey, who easily goes along with the flaunting of power, agreeing to everything he says.

Except. Except they're weird as FUCK and thus amazingly compelling.

Lukey knows people- he's interested in psychology, and regards the player aspect as his greatest minecraft strength. Pangi, for all his showboating, gets attached easily for the smallest reasons (sorry, pili clocked him on that one). Pangi is desperate for a close friend– selfish, in a way, he never does well in groups of 3, always wants them for himself– and Lukey lends himself to that. He's weak (not a threat) and funny (kind) and he won't just leave Pangi! Because he can't. And Lukey has clocked him on this. Despite the literal power imbalance, Pangi is at his beck and call just as much as Lukey is to his- perhaps even more! Lukey literally compared him to Pavlov's dog????

This clip is a perfect example: Pangi does what he always does and tries to feel powerful (out of a terror of being left). But Lukey, knowing that he doesn't have much to lose except time, doesn't do as he says immediately. He calls Pangi's bluff and the man immediately folds.

And then we see the basic version of them again- Pangi's loud brazenness and Lukey's backtracking. But it's not the front they have for other people, it's a joke. They're laughing, neither really cares.

Thoughts on CoD dudebros that attempt to gatekeep their "role" characters? Over the course of last year it's funny how many i've seen upset that Laswell has a wife because they genuinely thought Price was "bonking" her according to them. Even more so going as far as to say that they'd be into experimental poly relationship. And don't get me started on YT side of the base where people say stuff like Soap & Valeria, Ghost & Milena double date, it's hilarious really. But god forbid you post anything about GhostSoap remotelly romantic. It's like hellfire out there.

Oh man that's a good question. I haven't actually thought too hard on that tbh. Funny timing because I literally watched an opinion piece on YT on what they [the male fanbase] thought on mwiii(23).

I think people want to read into things as they prefer. People are so conditioned in these action movie style sort of storylines to assume Man + Women talking = relationship. And in that sense I can see why people would ship Price and Laswell because they do have a friendly relationship, one that implies years of knowing one another. (though Valeria and Milena /soap or ghost?? Why??)

I think the biggest shame is the fact that male and female platonic friendships are so rare in these instances that for a significant part of that vocal fanbase, it blows their mind to have heterosexual friendships that are just that: friendships.

And it's always a bit ironic we have this situation when you have those dudebros pile on the ghostsoap ship and say, "can't friendships just be friendships, stop making everything gay". Can't friendships just be friendships, stop making everything het.

Bro, we ain't making anything gay, it's there in the text. Call the spade a spade. They flirt with each other. I can even pull up the receipts and go through every bit of possibility and still think, wow, even them joking is pretty sus with all the context. Especially when it's Ghost who flirts back, out of all people—the man who is so emotionally constipated that showing his face and letting people use his name is a Big Deal™.

I always wonder what that fanbase would make of these meta posts. In a weird way, I do sort of welcome that critique. It would be interesting to see what would come out of that.

I mean, yeah you can read Ghost and Soap's relationship however you want. But it's definitely not something as clear cut as, "they're just friends. That's what brothers in arms are like. You just don't understand!" sort of thing. I think reducing them down to 'just friends' would be doing a disservice to how much Soap meant to Ghost in terms of the actual codmwii plot line.

The nice thing is that despite all the differences we all have with each other, we as an entire fanbase all agree on this: Codmwiii(23) has the worst campaign out of all codmw games.

The storyline sucked and didn't go anywhere. The ending was there for shock factor. It didn't really add anything to the story aside from making one feel upset. It was sloppy storytelling, and it really felt like it could've been better.

But yeah. Lol 😂 sorry for the rant guys. Hope you enjoyed the Ted Talk.

You are understandably cautious because this fandom has a deserved reputation for being one of the worst in recorded history due to its rampant toxicity and K/L shippers, especially, having a penchant for harassing any and everyone with differing opinions.

I am so sorry that this environment has been so hostile toward you. You didn't and still don't deserve that. Fandoms are supposed to be fun, occasionally self-indulgent, places of escapism. Not overwhelm participants with intense anxiety because they're expecting to be attacked for expressing love for a certain character or ship, or even a dissenting opinion.

One of my dearest friends shared a post with me, the other day, that I find very apt for our ongoing predicament as Shiro fans.

"Sometimes you see discourse ™ so mindbogglingly dumb you just have to be like, 'That’s the kids talking. That’s the same as when two toddlers are having an intense conversation and it’s totally detached from reality, but they’re very serious about it. That’s not for me that’s for the kids'."

It can be fun, or sometimes even feel imperative, given how often they rile me up, to challenge these hate-fueled, mindbogglingly dumb, detached from reality takes. But, we don't have to engage with them. We always have the option to remind ourselves, "That's the kids talking. That's not for me, that's for the kids."

You are not "stupid" for taking precautions to protect yourself from vitriolic subsets of this fandom. And, yes, anyone cheerfully looking to spread hatred for Shiro while tacking on, "I still love him/I don't hate him, but", as a preemptive shield from criticism, is provably vitriolic. You have to have nothing worthwhile going on in your life and an unquenchable need to start petty drama in order to sit around and invent reasons to hate a gay, disabled, neurodivergent trauma survivor who epitomizes selfless heroism and who has chosen to remain gentle in spite of everything that he's been through.

There is a saying, "You don't choose the favorite character. The favorite character chooses you." While I do find it invariably tends to ring true, it is interesting how people with certain personality types gravitate toward specific characters, and then latch onto them with a fierceness that can only come from intense personal projection.

I'm not knocking anyone for this. I project at least a bit onto my favorite characters, as well, as I'm certain most people do. It comes with the "self-indulgent escapism" territory.

It just sucks that L/K-shipping fans of either character have chosen to make their intense projection onto these characters into everyone else's problem. Particularly Shiro and Allura, and I imagine even Pidge (given that I've seen more than a few fics bashing her for supposedly being mean to Lance) fans.

No, making K/L canon would not have "fixed" the inept writing, inherent ableism and ageism, and deplorable treatment of trauma survivors that tacitly endorses them martyring themselves. All that would have accomplished is setting a precedent that targeted harassment and attempted extortion works. The showrunners absolutely did the right thing in not caving to the demands of a horde of entitled brats who actively attacked them for two years, lobbing accusations of pedophilia at a father. Which could have completely ruined his life and resulted in his children being taken from him had anyone taken these preposterous claims over a harmless ship between two legal adults in a cartoon seriously.

I'd like to consider it a form of serendipity that we crossed paths with each other in this cesspit of a fanbase. ❤ As I informed another blogger, a few days ago, finding another Shiro fan who doesn't simply view him as "hot bara Daddy Dom I want to imagine banging my self-insert of choice", will always be a breath of fresh air.

(Sidenote: I thought baras were supposed to be hairy, as well as tall and ripped. Shiro is a bit too hairless to qualify, no? And, Coran is a Daddy Dom.

The "Space Dad" thing, by itself, is kind of cute, and I do love that Josh Keaton derived such joy from it, bless his heart. But, when fans take it seriously and start holding Shiro to the standards of an actual father when canon never presents him as one, that's when it drives me nuts and I start to hate it. In much the same way Lance and Keith fans simultaneously lionizing and woobifying their favorites at the expense of everyone else has done a great job of putting me off of them.

Keith, Pidge, Lance, and Hunk have their own fathers. Coran is Allura's surrogate father. No one on Team Voltron sees Shiro as their dad.

Headcanons that Shiro and Adam adopted and raised Keith are just that. Headcanons. If you find something enjoyable in them, or want to adopt Shiro as the ideal father to your character of choice, that is perfectly fine, so long as you remember that you're working within an alternate universe that has nothing in the show's canon to support it.

Shiro was always a mentor, leader, and/or older brother to the Paladins. He's twenty-five years-old. Not fifty. And, I guarantee if he had tried to pull rank on any of these kids, they would one-thousand percent have fired back with, "You're not my dad!"

The only character who arguably views Shiro as a father is the Atlas; based on Shiro being the sole person she has a connection with, and her modeling her mecha form after his physique.

✨ GAY SCIENTIST ✨™ IS BACK

Hey, remember this guy? Well, I finally got around to making him an actual playable sim in my town!! (with a few minor tweaks as he doesn't look exactly like the previously-generated sim)

His name is Edison Allen (I actually randomized it and thought it was fitting - 'Edison' as in Thomas Edison the inventor, and 'Allen' because it sounds kind of close to 'alien')! I actually created him solely because I wanted an alien abduction guinea pig (no offense to him). And yes, he's also going to be single-handedly adding alien babies to my sim population. :P

There's that signature rainbow lab coat of his. ;)

I'm actually trying not to cheat too much in terms of getting him impregnated by an alien (I sound demented, lmao. Typical Sims player) - I just kind of want things to progress as naturally as possible.

I've taken all the precautionary steps to increase the chances for an alien abduction, including employing Edison in the scientist career (of course) and leveling his logic skill. I've also given him a home in Oasis Springs as I've heard that it's apparently more common for sims to get abducted there.

Now, I'm pretty much focusing on getting him successful enough in his career where he can obtain a satellite dish so he can actually contact the aliens, and also increasing his logic skill to around level 7 so he can 'search for the truth'.

Oh, you want more lore? Okay.

He has the ambitious, genius, and geek traits. That being said, he's kind of a loner who prefers to keep to himself and his research. He doesn't really have any close friends... except for the little robot attached to his invention constructor who assists him in building things.

Yeaaahhh... doesn't really count as a living, breathing friend with an actual personality. Not like Edison cares about that, though.

AI chatbots weren't enough for him

Edison does get on decently well with his coworkers, though. One of them happens to be this receptionist, who honest to god GETS ON MY NERVES EVERY TIME I SEE HER FACE AND HER DUMB NAME. I HATE THE WAY SHE LOOKS AND SHE HAS DONE NOTHING TO ME BUT I STILL HATE HER AND I'VE BEEN SEEING HER EVERYWHERE.

Apparently, her name is based on a goddess in Hawaiian mythology, and yes, I'm aware she's a mermaid. I might try making Edison ask her if she is one, hehe

If it isn't already clear, I still hate her. Even though she hasn't really done anything mean toward Edison... yet.

Actually, I take that back - she sent him this on Social Bunny literally as I was writing this post. Just because the dude does in fact have nobody following him doesn't mean that gives you the right to roast him out of nowhere, jeez.

I mean, I guess she does have the 'mean' trait for a reason...

Fortunately, Edison did get a bit of 'revenge' on her during one of his shifts and gave her one of those experimental plant serums he made. Unfortunately, this was right when his shift ended, so I didn't see the complete outcome of it all. I think she did look nauseated after she drank it, though.

The other person next to Edison (who can also be seen in the very first image on this post where he fucked up the chemistry lab) is Dani Davila from the Horse Ranch pack! He and Dani don't have the greatest compatibility, though, but at least they didn't flame him on Social Bunny or anything.

And then there's Ava Harjo (from the High School Years pack), who showed up to work PREGNANT. Apparently, according to MC Command Center, she's in the second trimester and expecting a girl with Mitchell Kalani of all people (from the base game Roomies household).

Ava is supposed to be married to Lucha Harjo and has kids with him, so Neighborhood Stories must have made a fucky wucky somewhere. Also, she's supposed to be a cafeteria worker at Copperdale High School. So I guess she quit and transferred??? Weird.

I thought about renovating FutureSim Labs (the scientist career workplace) with a gallery build, though I'm not sure if replacing it will end up generating new co-workers. I kind of like the weird and chaotic group I have here now. Then again, it seems like the positions switch up each day? Putting a pin in that for now...

Now, the question we've all been waiting for - is Edison really a ✨ gay scientist ✨?

I'm actually not quite sure yet. We'll just have to wait and see what the game plays out!

Hello! Nobody asked me but I just wanted to muse. Too embarrassed to not be anon but promised I'm not here to be controversial or anything !

I wonder whether H's 180 switch up on the use of her public platform has come from maybe some feelings of embarrassment or guilt, like maybe she's (for whatever probably misguided reason) felt a bit embarrassed about sticking her neck out and has now decided that she'd rather be a bit more Dolly P and make change with quiet actions. Like she's told herself to shut up and just learn, did the Dolly interview, and then Palestine bits the news and she's just like....aight imma sit this one kut. I'm not saying I agree at all and I think we all have a duty to have been sharing and speaking up, no matter how big our reach - I shared stuff to my 500 ig followers and saw one friend go from "I'm not political I'm just a mama who wants the kids to be safe" to regularly sharing "write to your MP!" stuff after I started sharing! So imagine what H could do!

Like I'm still a huge fan but every time I see her/the band post and it's not addressed The News™ in any way, I just feel like "come on, PLEASE! We know you've seen the discourse!" and I don't even expect them to say anything now, it's too awkward and weird to come back from, but it's just like....ugh. but there must be something going on in her head for whatever reason which has made her decide that she really does want to turn off the news and at least not add to it with her voice, which is really shit but I have to remind myself that even if she made a name for herself standing up for things, it doesn't mean she has to do it forever and won't do it again I guess. Besides it's much easier to stand up for palatable things like gay rights and BLM I guess when it doesn't take as much unlearning/won't invite as much vitriol? I dunno I just be talking. i have finally finished my only 12% and if you saw me curled up crying on the floor no you didn't. some of the choices made in the show were so absolutely phenomenal i just have to talk about them (no matter how incoherent i may be)

i loved that the storytelling wasn't rushed. like desis like to say, itmenaan se batao, tell it with patience! it's very easy to make the show dragged out, especially when it's a slowburn romance, but i was still at the edge of my seat all the time! (except maybe last 2 eps but that says more about me than the show lol, if i start to rant about the father I'll never really stop)

in continuation of the above point, the choice to let the scenes linger a little bit longer after the plot point/conversation was over was so good! for example, literally every scene with the friends doing their basic kids nonsense! (bestest friend groups really <3)

that terrifying Eminem poster that gave me a jump scare everytime it was in shot ☠️ also the fleabag poster for some reason, in a show set in late 2000s/early 2010s!!! (i.e. make a show so good that even bizzare mistakes seem negligible)

speaking of the show's setting, oh such a core memory to see MSN, the flip phones, skype, that box windows computer, adding relationship statuses on Facebook, peak 2012. (im a sucker for nostalgia!)

i don't think i have to talk about how beautifully written CakeEiw's friendship was! them cuddling to sleep and Cake just spreading his arms for 'HUG! 😁', yeah. adorable

Eiw's discovery of his sexuality (with Love of Siam) and Hom being so supportive of him! im so glad Eiw had such a supportive family and friends! no matter how much of an 'other' Eiw felt like, no one near & dear to him let him feel like that and its SO important (snickering at the fact that Earth is older than Prem).

the entire America plot, omg, bawling. who hasn't had that friend who moved away, or who hasn't been the one to move away at some point? it was so well done, and all the scenes between CakeEiw post Cake telling Eiw that he's moving had such a bittersweetness to it, especially on the last day when they're promising each other sweet nothings! (kudos to the actors!)

Eiw saying that he's sad that he discovered his love for Cake but now he has to move away? KNIFE IN MY HEART! Eiw sniff kissing Cake and Cake coming back from the car to hug Eiw even tighter? NO PAIN

the letter/email style story telling in ep9 🤌 i love that they didn't go for the "they grew apart in the 3 years" or "one of them isn't replying" etc etc tropes because not only i don't like them but also it would be so out of character for them! and correct use of emerging tech!

love the confidence and the glow up for Eiw! he joined so many activities, making new friends, becoming part of the drama club, dresses like a fkn model, also got his hair dyed, GOOD FOR HIM

Cake in Blonde™! Him immediately begging his mum to let him see Eiw after getting back (in the middle of the night!). him crying and wiping his tears when Eiw hugged him at the bus stop. he's everything to me. Eiw repeating Cake's name on repeat and asking him to always respond? 😭

the enitre subplot of Pu & Tal wanting to be with Eiw was so funny to me skskskskks because have they seen CakeEiw together? one could be with their partners but would still feel like a third wheel in front of them. (and that's BEOFRE they officially got together) INSUFFERABLE

oh the post-show CakeEiw fight, & Eiw saying "Have you ever had to be the one who waits?" holt saying PAIN.gif. that entire confrontation/confession was so intense that i understand the choice to spread it out in between two episodes. and finally Cake saying "then i will be gay with you" had me laughing in the middle of all these tears he's such a best boy i love him dearly. (i was lowkey scared of the 'im not gay i just like you' making a comeback lol)

CakeEiw's relationship being written just as good (if not better) than their friendship!!!! the scene with "i love everything about you"? crying screaming shaking. Cake being basically a puppy? love that for Eiw

Okay so it never actually happened in Elite Force because one of the characters supposedly kicked the bucket as far as we know which I will never not be mad about especially since Mighty Med still had an entire story line that needed to be completed that was completely brushed aside for EF and also the character I'm talking about was by far one of the best characters in the entire show and I'm getting offtopic but you feel my anger and pain.

Anyway, his name is Doctor Horace Diaz, he's the head of Mighty Med and is also the superhero Caduceo. He's a goofball and I love him.

Now, in Lab Rats, I am going to hope you know who Douglas Davenport is and skip the explanation of all of that. He's a chaotic mess and I love him.

A very long time ago I made a dumb post about "Hey, wouldn't it be funny if Horace and Douglas got together?" and created a shipname for them (Dorace). At the time I had yet to realize that jokingly shipping something always leads to actually shipping it, and, uh, I think me, blue, and cinnamonzor popularized it through random headcanons and a bunch of quotes submitted to the incorrect quotes blog.

Their entire dynamic is just "I would never say that my husband is a bitch and that I don't like him, I could never. My husband is a bitch!! And I love him VERY MUCH!!" and "I have very high standards and-" *guy 2 trips down a float of stairs and proceeds to burn his hand on the kitchen stove somehow* "I want that one" except you can't tell who is saying what because it works equally for both of them. They're adorable idiots, your honor.

They are both on opposite ends of the chaotic good spectrum, which means that dates usually end in either crimes or cuddles and sometimes both. They are also both incredibly smart so they have the ability to get away with a lot of the shit that they pull.

They also both have a bunch of kids so they are the Dad Duo™. They are pretty good parents most of the time and put Donald to more shame than he already has. They're just so amazing, your honor.

Douglas is already incredibly queer coded in canon, too, is the thing. I'm, like, 99% sure that Giselle in Season 4 of Lab Rats was added just to straighten him out a bit, which, like Moira McTaggert to Charles Xavier, it didn't fucking work.

Anyway, throughout Season 3 of the show, while Douglas is still evil, he's working alongside this guy named Victor Krane, and WOO BOY ARE THESE TWO GAY.

They went as Brad and Angelina for Halloween, there are many cases of which Douglas talks to and about Krane as if they have been dating and depending on how you look at it even MARRIED, and they're just gay.

But also, like, on top of all of this, it has been outright said and implied many times that Krane tortured Douglas?? Which would be a fine little "ha ha deranged villain" joke for a show aimed at a bunch of 8-12 year olds if it wasn't for the fact that they have a HEAVILY QUEER CODED RELATIONSHIP. Douglas talks about how Krane regularly electrocuted him in one episode while Donald is messing with him and it's played off for laughs but just??? It's not funny.

Anyway what I'm trying to say is that this man also 100% has a bunch of issues that he needs to work through and probably projects these issues onto Horace in some way or another. He's just scared of a relationship in general, and actually being in one, as great as it is, is outright terrifying and he feels like he's walking on egg shells.

[Please note that I'm not trying to turn actual abuse into something that is purely explored to cause romantic relationship tension and that having trouble with it is crazy and makes the victim a bad person. I have explored these things in many other ways with this character, and recognize that, with real people, it is so much more varied than this. Felt like this should be specified.]

Now, back to Horace, I mentioned earlier that Horace is a goofball. And, like, I mean this way too literally. Again, I do understand that this is a show aimed at 8-12 year olds, but god damn sometimes it's just unsettling and straight up concerning.

Like, there's this one time in the show where everyone in Mighty Med is almost killed due to some mind control thing and then when they all snap out of it, the first thing Horace does is either start a conga line or start a game of limbo (I forget which one because the other happened at a different time).

Also, the way he treats his nephew isn't ideal, to put it lightly, but there are some moments where he proves that he genuinely does care about him. He also reiterates throughout the series that one of the reasons that he doesn't treat Alan (his newphew) is that he doesn't believe that he's enough of a father to him because he's not his real father. In the end it just kind of creates the effect that he's trying to distance himself from those closest to him.

The most important detail that I haven't mentioned yet is that he's immortal. Like, actually immortal. Really immortal. 3,006 years old immortal. He's had to live for such a long time, watching the people that he's grown close to continuously die, time and time again, while he's stuck jut not being able to die.

So, my point is that Horace is definitely not as sunshine-y as he seems and the way he acts on a regular basis could very well, at least partly, just be a coping mechanism of some sort. After living for so long, it makes sense that he has trouble being able to become close to people.

You know I wonder if they're gonna keep the "I'm not a piece of meat" scene in the Suffering Game GN. Cuz in the comics Taako just..... He just doesn't have the same depth as the original podcast character did. Not just with personality, though that's a MAJOR part of it, but with design too in my opinion. I really enjoyed his HTBG outfit, I thought it fit him pretty well, but then the rest of the graphic novels came out and he was always just.... I don't know how to describe it but it makes me sorta uncomfortable. Like, I myself am a gender non-conforming nb-guy that's attracted to men, but Taako just felt really, like, overly-sexualized and not just gnc, specifically compared to how the others dress. Like, even when it makes no sense for him to!! WHY DOES HIS CRYSTAL KINGDOM SPACESUIT HAVE FUCKING HIGH-HEELS. NOBODY, N O B O D Y ELSE HAS HIGH-HEELS BECAUSE THEY'RE FUCKING SPACESUITS AND IT'D BE SO INCREDIBLY IMPRACTICAL. IF NOTHING ELSE GIVE THEM ALL HEELS BECAUSE THEN YOU'RE NOT SINGLING OUT YOUR ONE GAY MAIN CHARACTER TO BE THE ONLY PERSON IN A SKINTIGHT HIGH-HEELED SPACESUIT AND YOU COULD RULE IT AS THE BOB GOING OVER-THE-TOP WITH AESTHETICS INSTEAD. Okay sorry I went on a tangent there but that spacesuit design really bothers me a lot when you compare it to everyone else's, y'know??

And don't get me wrong, Taako's canonically beautiful in the podcast too, and wears a skirt sometimes (once), but he always felt a lot more grounded to me, I guess I'd say. Like yeah he's a bit self-centered sometimes, but he's got so much more to him than that. He struggles with showing affection but that doesn't mean he's not trying, he makes fun of his family but they make fun of him right back, he's worried about not being good enough for anybody and that he's stuck where he is because if he leaves he'll have nothing and nobody again. And then the Graphic Novel doesn't really..... Do. Most of that. In my opinion. He's just sorta demoted to being the token Twink™ who's overly sassy and snobby and flirts with every man he sees just because he's gay hey remember that Taako's gay did you know we have a Gay Main Character just reminding you in case you forgot He's Gay. I dread to see how the GN presents the trans characters in the show.

I just. Like. In the podcast it really played into Taako's entire "fully realized creation" characterization, where he's more than what people think of him at first glance. Hell, it even leads into Imbalance where everyone knowing Taako and his story post-SaS burnt him out and he went into a mental health relapse because he felt his life didn't have any meaning afterwards so he decided to make his own meaning for life by becoming an adventurer again!!!! Like!!!! Fuck!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Graphic Novel version of him just doesn't feel like the same character to me, and I feel like if they do include the "I'm not a piece of meat" scene in Wonderland it's not gonna feel genuine because we have never seen any other side of Taako besides the snarky self-obsessed persona he puts on. I just feel like the Taako we see in the Graphic Novels wouldn't say that, because there's been no (or at least very very few) moments that actually give Taako the depth he claims he has in PTtM.

Not tagging this for obvious reasons (I'm not an agent of chaos, sorry), but I'm still reluctantly 50/50.

Like, I don't see it as clearly as other people do. I still see the potential for backpedaling or even it not being the intention at all. Don't get me wrong, I can't imagine this going any other way without it being bad writing™ or at least disappointing, but we don't live in the logical world.

It might seem obvious but I also see how it might be "haha vampirism got them acting like boyfriends" jokes. Kind of no-homo expect yes-homo just not towards each other. I mean, not mean-spiritted or anything, just playing with the idea.

I remember watching it for the first time without fandom influences and going "yeah, they do make a joke about vampire crush every now and then/lol waiting to get turned is a bit like waiting for the guy you like to notice you". Then I started reading essays on tumblr and I got the brainrot.

It'd make the most sense if there was something romantic under the surface, I agree. It'd be weird if it weren't. But I totally see the possibility of it just being one-off jokes that never come to a canon relationship. It's obvious they deeply care about each other, but I wouldn't count on an explicit romance just yet. Because this other explanation is clearly what resonates the most with the casual audience (we're the 1%, regardless of how loud we are) and the actual, explicit will-they-won't-they of the show: is Gigi becoming a vampire or not?

That's the hook. Anything else might or might not be there, but that's been the hook from day one. And even if they didn't expect us to read into it, all those signs that the ship might happen can also be interpreted as jokes related to THE ACTUAL LITERAL AND TEXTUAL QUESTION THE PLOT WANTS US TO ASK.

Actors are not writers. I love them, but they're not. Most times, they know as much as we do. And writers have said some 😬 stuff in the past. Even recently, I've heard them said things in the line of "if people want to interpret it as that, it's cool, maybe someday", which most times means most likely not but we're not homophobic pieces of shit /gen. This is post s3.

So just for the record I'm not worried in the slightlest about favorite wife. My unknown girl Marwa isn't part of the reason behind this post, same way I know Freddie is not here to be the man of anyone's life. They're going to serve a purpose, provide some chuckles and character development and leave forever, one way or another. A piano will fall on that zombie's head before she can even say "I do." Trust me on this, but also know it doesn't erase everything I just said.

I'm calling it now (feel free to save the post to rub it on my face in a few months. My pessimistic ass loves being wrong), s4 won't bring anything that significantly points to canon endgame. Much like s3. It might happen just like it might not. We will have gay shit, just not the specific brand of gay shit we want. Maybe (MAYBE) if the response is overwhelmingly possitive, they'll start seriously considering it for later seasons (remember 3 and 4 were written together). But don't expect love confessions here.

Also I'm begging you, when someone asks if the ship is in fact canon, no matter how close it seems, just answer honestly as for the current state of the series. I would have watched it anyway, but I would have managed my expectations better. Now I'm stuck here with the rest of you. /hj

Dear omgcheckplease! Fandom,

do you remember when you first came across my dashboard? i think it was just after the kiss™ happened in the comic and there was a lot of posts about jack forgetting Bitty's name and I laughed because #relatable. and then fic started getting reblogged and I was curious (wtf kind of names are holster and ransom and lardo? who is shitty? bitty?) and i ended up on @petals42 's ice crew fic, and figured i might as well keep reading. at the very least i might get another chance to laugh about this jack guy who can't remember eric's name. i had no idea who anyone was beyond the background primer in the first chapter, but it didn't matter; i fell in love.

i googled then, found the webcomic and spent an afternoon reading about these hockey bros and a gay baker from the south, genuinely falling a little bit in love with each of them as they became a team.

i fell even harder into this fandom once i found more checkplease! blogs to follow. i think that might've been the first time i used the search function on this damn website, and there were (are) so many incredible, wonderful people whose love of the comic and characters comes through with every headcanon, every drabble and fic, every single piece of art—be it digital or on paper, hell, even every hiatus shit post. there are some of funniest, most talented people in this fandim; the work that goes into the projects that come across my dash is staggering and i'm in a constant state of awesome at what people share with this fandom.

and when people team up! i've said it before, but one of my favourite parts of this fandom is seeing the different phases of an idea or headcanon (or shit post 'cause lbr, shit gets weird sometimes) come across my dash. everyone has such different experiences and and opinions so it's really cool to see how one person will go in one way with an idea while someone else takes it in a completely different direction. and neither is told they're wrong! instead, others come together to build off the base idea, adding to it and adding to it until suddenly there's a fic or a artwork or a playlist or something more to go with that idea. the abundance collaborations here blows my mind.

i just hardcore dig everyone who hangs out in this fandom: the likers, the rebloggers, the writers, the artists, the fanmixers, and all the mods for all the different characters/ships/themes weeks and challenge.

you all are something very special.
