and then literally January of 2021, the US legislative house gets stormed in, Texas has a freeze so bad our gridlock shuts down and PEOPLE DIED FROM THE COLD WHILE EVERYONE ELSE MOCKED US FOR FREEZING!!!

2020 was not a good year. it is the furthest from a a good year, but it sure as hell emphasized a motley of issues the world had going on (tho i’m more versed in the US issues bc i live there)

Originally, I believed it to be supernatural because a clone just appearing out of nowhere scared me the most, but nowadays, it made itself seem very timely if you look at it as an AI replacement, and the horror that the people being replaced and having their identities stolen have to endure.

i'll never not think about how john was genuinely coping well following helen's death. he was using healthy outlets for his emotions and also going about his routine and his day, just like she wanted. he let himself cry while reading her letter, he just let everything out and didn't attempt to hold it back. he immediately connects with this puppy she left him instead of resisting it — and goes out the next day to buy everything daisy needs because he is keeping this dog. he knows just as well as helen did that he'd need that unconditional affection and something to connect with. he's personable with strangers (iosef) at the gas station, even if he's not attempting to start an extended conversation. he goes to a safe environment to do some driving and let out some of those bigger emotions and expel that energy. he was doing well. of course, this isn't indicative that he was perfectly at peace — far from. the grief and the rage we see was definitely there, under the surface, but there was no reason for it to come out. helen simply died, of a natural, indiscriminatory illness. she wasn't taken from him by force, there was nothing and no one to seek out revenge on. i think he would have been okay and found that peace helen wanted for him. i think he eventually would have been able to let go of that anger inside him for having to lose her. but daisy being taken is what broke the dam.
