I’m so glad you like the card system too! I’ll have to dig up the pdf files and clean them up so others can print them, since I usually make something that only makes sense to me lol
Inversion has always been a contentious/confusing topic among Homestuck fans, and Hussie seems to have gone out of his way to not explain it (who is surprised, tbh?).
I’ll have to do a write-up sometime of my opinions on it, as well as summarizing what other fans have proposed.
youtube
Homebrew Homestuck Classpect Card System | Pop Culture Magic Divination Oracle Cards
@mysterious-dark-shadow made a Homestuck oracle deck that can be used for classpecting, and in this video I show you how it works!
I'm really excited about this video because I get to show this thing he did off finally, it's really neat and I'm really glad people get to see it now.

So for my questions about geography:
1. What kind of job are you planning to get? I read about geography careers on Reddit and people brought up GIS a lot.
2. What types of projects did you partake in for geography?
3. Cheesy question that I’m sure you’ve probably heard before but what do you like about geography that makes you want to study it?
4. Is there anything anyone should know before choosing to major in geography?
Thank you for taking time out of your day for answering :]
Hi, thanks for the interest!
My first option is to join the IGN (Instituto Geográfico Nacional), which is the state's geographic administration. Think urbanism, rural administration, basically any aspect that requires knowing where things are (including transport infrastructure!). Within that I am especially interested in the Cartographic section of the IGN, which is in charge of the creation of maps like the National Topographic Map (!!). Beyond public administration, the other big paths are joining a private entity, which will more than likely be ESRI or an associated/dependent company, or becoming an independent consultant to the other two sets of entities. You'd be surprised how demanded geographers are nowadays, basically anywhere that has to deal with locations in the real world. And yes, GIS are very important wherever you work. GIS itself is not a career, it's just the most relevant and efficient sets of tools we have nowadays for the geographer's profession.
I haven't yet done any real work, so far only assignments for classes. Last year we went on a short trip and we did have to collect information and create a short video on a topic that was relevant to the location, me and my partner did it on tourism and conservation.
Since I can remember, looking at maps, thinking about maps and thinking through maps has been an innate habit of mine. When I first started learning about history at ~11 years old, for example, I memorized all I could through creating mental maps, instinctively. I still distinctly remember getting asked by a teacher when I was 12 about the countries that made up each side of WW1, and going through my mental map of each country. I still do this with everything I can. Finally getting to study like that (though not always, but I'm not bad with plain statistics anyway) has been a massive and very welcome change from general education. As I write this, there are 11 visible maps around me, plus another 18 that are not displayed. So I'd say cartography
If you choose to major in Geography, you're not going to avoid some amount of mathematics, especially statistics, and you're going to have to get comfortable with new digital data formats, pretty dogshit UIs, and just using a computer in general. I say this because more than half of my classmates were surprised by this (despite the fact that it was very clearly laid out in the course descriptions available before even choosing a major)

Inspired by your Red Velvet AU I had some musings I thought you might find amusing:
1 Sabine is the one to find Tikki & adopt the heroic mantle.
2 Chloe, either due to getting between Adrien & his guards or skipping school to check on him receives/finds the Black Cat Miraculous when at Adrien's.
3 Of course if its really following your Red Velvet idea then Plagg is already caught, so it would probably be a case of either Fu leaving a different Kwami. Or her finding/stealing one of the Miraculous he has left likely stored in his office which could be any of them. (Basically she's being petty & getting revenge for herself & Adrien) Though if its the Peacock she starts being afflicted fast & gets fixed up by Sabine.
But I digress, whatever the case, the starting premise is still generally familiar.
Mature and serious adult & competent parent takes on the hero duties of thwarting Gabriel.
But in this case its Sabine and she has a teenage sidekick she did not ask for & is very uncomfortable with. Both cos of said youth but also some of her behavior and definitely based on a lot of what she says. So it goes from "I don't want this kid fighting monsters" to "I don't want this kid being where they are at all, I should take them home with me." While still being deeply uncomfortable with the sidekick aspect.
(This dynamic also means I don't regard Andre as a good parent as noted elsewhere, to me he's just a different kind of self serving & neglectful abuser)
Chloe meanwhile is ecstatic, a chance to be useful, a chance to be exceptional, a chance to define herself outside her own class, identity, history and family. If she succeeds as a super hero her exceptional nature is self evident, if she fails, well she'd rather die than fail (Red flag!) But while aggressively resistant to revealing her identity to her senior or giving up heroics, she is also blatantly craving motherly interactions and maternal affection & guidance. So she naturally is very attached to Sabine.
But yeah that's the gist anyway XD
Honestly I can fudge things back to canon so we get LB!Sabine and Duchess Noire vs. Hawkmoth.
But also yeah Chloé craving motherly affection and lighting up when Sabine praises her and taking Sabine's concerns as a personal sleight of 'She's saying she doesn't want me here because I'm not good enough' rather than 'She's saying she doesn't want me here because she has basic decency to care about a child who should not be here'.

Hiii, regarding the Fear Classes diagram you made and the Buried being super duper lonely in there without any further subdivisions or links, I actually think there are some distinct ones!
To start, it usually presents as a pretty basic fear of, well, being buried and unable to breathe, but if we think about it less literally, it can also be the fear of pressure — maybe pressure from debt or even feeling emotionally 'unable to breathe' in relationships, not toxic per se but ones where you're treated fine but you just, can't, you know? I think these could be somewhere in the developed and human regions respectively however I'm bad at actually classifying in these frames yet.
Now we have these subdivisions:
The Buried (base)
The Buried (economic pressure (?))
The Buried (emotionally)
We can now see there's can be a link with the Web or the Lonely in regards to the last one, however that one may not be related to the buried at all, I simply wanted to suggest these!!
I would love to hear your take on this and whether it can works with the rest! Love your guys work, super interested in what you'll publish next!
First of all, THANK YOU. I really missed this aspect in my attempt, and probably would have preceded without it without this pointer.
Secondly, this proposal slots in really well with the chart. It will take a little jiggling, but I should have an updated one out in the next couple hours. Though, I might combine the economic pressure and emotional pressure, as the two are both intangible exhibitions of the fear.
Once again, I am eternaly greatful!

I've done it for lifesteal so I think I should do it for hermitcraft... sooo,, what I think every hermit would choose in infinite realms and (maybe) why.
warning, infinite realms spoilers lie ahead.
(any names or terms I use will be explained under cut/in a reply to this post)
Bdubs- classer 100% he would choose either a gardener based class, along the lines of Ender Ornn's one or he's a builder,,, (actually he could also be a formations master, which is cultivation but he might be that too.) His secondary is definitely skills though, no doubt, he probably advances them like Zenker does.
Cub- He would be a cultivator with a secondary focus as classer 'cause he wants the perks from it. Probably on a path based around speed and empowering himself.
Doc- he's a mainly a skill user with a secondary of cultivation. He's on a destructive path, like Ryun or Tali's main paths, his second path is formations, like Eratemus.
Etho- pure skills user, like zenker. Actually, quite like zenker, but he probably did it abit faster. He spent ages building his skills up and locking in parts of himself. He is most likely an explorer.
False- classer, with a sword based class. (I don't watch false sorry </3)
Gem- cultivator, like Anrosh but kinda better, she got her own inspiration. Uses class as secondary, finds it more useful. Main weapon is a sword. Uses a formation based secondary path.
gonna make this a multi-part thing, I wanna keep rereading the book >:3.
EXPLANATIONS. (some haven't come up yet it's just so I can just link this post to all of these & add any extras here too.)
classers get perks every 5(?) levels and get 6 stat points each time, 3 are allocated to their primary and secondary attributes and the other 3 are free. They get a class evolution every 60 levels (I think) and get a class defining perk 30 levels after that. Classes are based on achievements and influence from inside.
Cultivators advance through realms, starting at early mortal and finishing at peak eternal. Each realm has three stages, early, mid and peak. They require inspiration to advance through realms, inspiration can be shared but doing so cripples the cultivator to never be able to change techniques or gain their own inspiration again. Paths influence from outside.
Skills require understanding to advance, to advance a skill you must understand how it works and you must understand yourself. To make a tier 6 skill, you must lock in part of yourself, that part can't change.
Formations- essence arranged by a cultivator to do something, such as working as a TV or to send signals from place to place. They can do basically anything.
Focus madness- having focuses too close in tiers of power, pushing and pulling. Makes the holder insane, driven to do only what the core concepts of their, class/path and twists the wording of locked skills.
Essence- what everything in the infinite realm is made of literally, from the ground to the concept of space itself. It is also used as currency. Cultivators can pull it into their core, they can also pull only certain ones in based on their qi aspect.
Aspect- what taints a cultivator's qi.
Qi- power source of a cultivator.
Ranker- someone who comes from an iteration, their wasn't always part of the framework.
Framework- what gives the ability for classes, paths and skills to even exist.
Sect- a primarily cultivator faction.
Sect head- leader/owner of a sect.
Sect leader- helps the sect head run the sect.
Runes- like really simple formations, requires a part of your soul to be infused to work.
Twin aspects of true death- Formerly the aspect of true death itself. Also formerly held by Ryun and Melody. Currently held by Ryun and Selia.
Ender Ornn- Ender Ornn Dagada. Classer. Olriginally found by Kayra Ornn, with his garden. I think he was a ranker. Originally focus mad. Died to Ra' azel.
Zenker- Zenker Brokentail, a full skill user. Reached the peak of skills. Died to Hastur.
Ryun- Ryun Nacht Wol. Cultivator. 7th iteration ranker. Killed everyone on a planet besides Zacharia Gardener. One half of the twin aspects of true death (Reaper). Sect head of the Twilight Melody Sect. Alive.
Tali- Antalien Far Sola Wol. Cultivator. Ruler of the empty skys. Formerly crippled cultivator and slave, for about 500 years. Freed by Ryun. Alive??, captured by Ra'azel.
Anrosh- Anrosh Kesh Wol. Cultivator. Sect leader of the Twilight Melody Sect. Second in command. Raised by Ryun, after she asked, to protect the sect better. Alive.
Melody- Classer. Former Scythe of true death. Ryun's former partner. Killed by governor on earth. (unsure of last name)
Selia- Selia Ha Jhan-Ekoa. Cultivator. Current Scythe of true death. Alive.
Kayra Ornn- Kayra Ornn Dagada. Classer. 3rd iteration ranker. Formerly of House Ornn in the 3rd empire. currently of the Dagada family in the Twilight Melody Sect. Alive.
Ra' azel- Yeti of a old framework attempt. Otherwise known as the Runesmith. Freed by Zacharia Gardener. Absolute menace (/hj)
Hastur- 11th dome leader. Based on lovecraftian horror.
Zacharia Gardener- Classer. 7th iteration ranker. Formerly the No.1 Ryun Nacht hater. Oldest chosen in the infinite realm. Got stuck in a mind-palace for 5000 years and can't remember most before it. Alive.

speaking of psychosis- i wasn't speaking of it here but i was speaking of it- i've been trying to figure out what was up with the great psychotic episode of freshman year, because i had assumed it was a trauma-induced psychosis type of deal, but it occurred to me that i was definitely having sort of thought broadcasting types of beliefs, probably some other stuff but i can't remember atm and don't feel like digging thru my old vent account lol. (ramble continues under the cut this got VERY long)
(line with text so tumblr doesn't eat the image. idk if it still does that but better safe than sorry)
Tumblr media
(the months with "2" are split into first and second half of the month bc it was relevant, couldnt figure out how else to signify that succinctly)
i cut out the labels of each belief for safety + in case that's triggering to ppl but each row is a different belief i had that in retrospect was probably some sort of delusion? top two are very similar but different enough i tracked them differently. bottom two might have just been anxiety+ptsd but i do really think they're connected to this
it was definitely at its worst mid nov-end of jan, but started in september and didn't really let up til like june
anyway like i said i had assumed it was a combination of trauma and being off my meds and isolation that made the perfect situation for me to go fucking crazy, but i hadn't really thought about it that hard . but now that i Am thinking about it, again, i was definitely having these kinds of beliefs before The Trauma
and in my past self's defense. one thing about my thought broadcasting beliefs specifically was that i was straight up being essentially cyberstalked at the time and didn't know, so i was completely right that certain people knew more about me than i had told them, but i was wrong about the reason why
anyway i was reading up on schizospec disorders for class (kind of. also just for fun) -- also important context schizophrenia does run in my family i think on both sides? but my parents are weird about talking about it. so that's part of this also.
but i noticed that of the three labels i was looking at- brief psychotic disorder, schizophreniform, and schizophrenia- (i didn't look into schizoaffective bc i dont think i have many bipolar symptoms, and didn't look into stpd bc i don't think it counts as a personality disorder if it lasts like 10 months lol, and delusional disorder because i do think i had some negative*&cognitive symptoms (*psych term meaning absence of things present in nonschizospec people, not literally just bad symptoms lol)-- though to be fair, that may have just been a combination of situational aspects & autism?)-- either way, it's not on this beautiful and awesome diagram in mspaint i made so i could illustrate the timeline aspect of the diagnostic criteria:
Tumblr media
bc a diagnosis of brief psychotic disorder requires symptoms to only last a month, and schizophreniform for 1-6 months, whereas schizophrenia is lifelong .
basically the problem is- while the worst part of my psychotic(?) symptoms lasted ~4months, they were definitely there in some form for around 10 months, which is too long for a diagnosis of schizophreniform, but i don't feel comfortable just, assuming it's schizophrenia lol, especially when most of the symptoms i experienced dont affect my life anymore? it does make me nervous though that this happened right around the typical age of onset.
this might just be a problem with diagnoses being too specific to cover the entire spectrum of human experience, and i might just be outside of any area where a specific label could be applied . also, i know it's been written about but not become an actual diagnostic label- but there are places where ocd and psychosis can over lap, and schizo-obsessive disorder has been suggested as a diagnostic label, but not officially used anywhere afaik..
i think my main concern at this point is just, whether or not i should be concerned about it coming back. like, is it possible to be in various stages of active psychosis(?? it still feels very strange to refer to it that way but i guess that's what it was, so) for ~4-10 months, and then just be chilling after. or should i be worried. was this a one-time thing starting because i was off my meds and being worsened by isolation and trauma or is there a possibility of this happening again. and i think that's a question that can't be answered with any certainty, probably

@girderednerve replied to your post coming out on tumblr as someone whose taught "AI bootcamp" courses to middle school students AMA:
did they like it? what kinds of durable skills did you want them to walk away with? do you feel bullish on "AI"?
It was an extracurricular thing so the students were quite self-selecting and all were already interested in the topic or in doing well in the class. Probably what most interested me about the demographic of students taking the courses (they were online) was the number who were international students outside of the imperial core probably eventually looking to go abroad for college, like watching/participating in the cogs of brain drain.
I'm sure my perspective is influenced because my background is in statistics and not computer science. But I hope that they walked away with a greater understanding and familiarity with data and basic statistical concepts. Things like sample bias, types of data (categorical/quantitative/qualitative), correlation (and correlation not being causation), ways to plot and examine data. Lots of students weren't familiar before we started the course with like, what a csv file is/tabular data in general. I also tried to really emphasize that data doesn't appear in a vacuum and might not represent an "absolute truth" about the world and there are many many ways that data can become biased especially when its on topics where people's existing demographic biases are already influencing reality.
Maybe a bit tangential but there was a part of the course material that was teaching logistic regression using the example of lead pipes in flint, like, can you believe the water in this town was undrinkable until it got Fixed using the power of AI to Predict Where The Lead Pipes Would Be? it was definitely a trip to ask my students if they'd heard of the flint water crisis and none of them had. also obviously it was a trip for the course material to present the flint water crisis as something that got "fixed by AI". added in extra information for my students like, by the way this is actually still happening and was a major protest event especially due to the socioeconomic and racial demographics of flint.
Aside from that, python is a really useful general programming language so if any of the students go on to do any more CS stuff which is probably a decent chunk of them I'd hope that their coding problemsolving skills and familiarity with it would be improved.
do i feel bullish on "AI"? broad question. . . once again remember my disclaimer bias statement on how i have a stats degree but i definitely came away from after teaching classes on it feeling that a lot of machine learning is like if you repackaged statistics and replaced the theoretical/scientific aspects where you confirm that a certain model is appropriate for the data and test to see if it meets your assumptions with computational power via mass guessing and seeing if your mass guessing was accurate or not lol. as i mentioned in my tags i also really don't think things like linear regression which were getting taught as "AI" should be considered "ML" or "AI" anyways, but the larger issue there is that "AI" is a buzzy catchword that can really mean anything. i definitely think relatedly that there will be a bit of an AI bubble in that people are randomly applying AI to tasks that have no business getting done that way and they will eventually reap the pointlessness of these projects.
besides that though, i'm pretty frustrated with a lot of AI hysteria which assumes that anything that is labeled as "AI" must be evil/useless/bad and also which lacks any actual labor-based understanding of the evils of capitalism. . . like AI (as badly formed as I feel the term is) isn't just people writing chatGPT essays or whatever, it's also used for i.e. lots of cutting edge medical research. if insanely we are going to include "linear regression" as an AI thing that's probably half of social science research too. i occasionally use copilot or an LLM for my work which is in public health data affiliated with a university. last week i got driven batty by a post that was like conspiratorially speculating "spotify must have used AI for wrapped this year and thats why its so bad and also why it took a second longer to load, that was the ai generating everything behind the scenes." im saying this as someone who doesnt use spotify, 1) the ship on spotify using algorithms sailed like a decade ago, how do you think your weekly mixes are made? 2) like truly what is the alternative did you think that previously a guy from minnesota was doing your spotify wrapped for you ahead of time by hand like a fucking christmas elf and loading it personally into your account the night before so it would be ready for you? of course it did turned out that spotify had major layoffs so i think the culprit here is really understaffing.
like not to say that AI like can't have a deleterious effect on workers, like i literally know people who were fired through the logic that AI could be used to obviate their jobs. which usually turned out not to be true, but hasn't the goal of stretching more productivity from a single worker whether its effective or not been a central axiom of the capitalist project this whole time? i just don't think that this is spiritually different from retail ceos discovering that they could chronically understaff all of their stores.

An Arc's Chance - Summary
Sixteen year old Jaune had given up all hope to be a hero like his parents, grandparents, and great grandparents before him.
That was until the day his mother came into his room and told him he would be going to Signal three years later than he should have. Signal was a combat school on the small island of Patch and on the other side of Vale.
There he would be staying with an old friend of his mother, Taiyang Xiao Long. Who would hopefully teach him everything he needed to know before he went off to one of the Academies in a year.
And with Yang Xiao Long and Ruby Rose to help him along the way, maybe he could become a great hero like many Arc before him.
Jaune's mother trusting him to carry on not only the family legacy, but the weapon that had carried his great grandfather through the war, Crocea Mors.
Louisa Arc watching her son go off on a journey she had spent so long forbidding him from. Before leaving for her own journey, looking to find answers for a question that had plagued her for years.
******
Hello everyone.
For the last little bit I've been kicking around an idea, tons of ideas really, for an AU. What if Jaune went to Signal for a year before going off to Beacon?
Crazy things. Lots of crazy things.
But I have come across a little bit of a problem in planning this AU out. I have too many ideas, and a lot of them are kind of mutually exclusive. And a few of the ones I really like would probably kind of bog down the story.
I can't just throw a bunch of ideas at the wall and not spend much time developing them, can I?
So I'm going to turn this AU into a series here on Tumblr to help me kind of figure out which ideas I want to go with, and them I'll post the actual fic on FF.Net and AO3.
So, as I mentioned above, the premise for this AU is that Jaune goes to Signal a year before he would have gone to Beacon. But everything before that is pretty much the same. Jaune is still completely untrained and knows basically nothing about being a huntsman.
Which I'd like to make one thing very clear, this is not an OP harem protagonist Jaune AU. A year of training at Signal isn't going to make Jaune crazy powerful. If anything, you'll just have something in between Volume 3 and 4 Jaune at the start of Beacon.
So instead of being at the bottom of the class, he'll be closer to the lower end of the average. From a F to a D+. And he'll still be way behind anyone in RWBY or the rest of JNPR, who are all in the S, A, and B tiers.
I'm keeping Jaune still a few steps behind everyone else, because I actually like that aspect of his character. You know, he has to rely more of good planning, and his aura I guess, for combat than anyone else because he's at a disadvantage. And I love crafty fighters.
And I do think it adds an interesting element to his character out of combat. That he's always going to have to work hard to "Not be a burden" and he's always going to blame himself the most when something goes wrong. Because it might not of if he was stronger.
So yeah, that's everything I want to say for this post. Though I'm sure I'll be back testing out another idea soon enough.

Game Dev Diary # 2
Tumblr media
So I'm finally back to posting after more than a month of when I should have posted an update. Am I a horrible person? I believe so XD lesson to learn here is do not count on me as I'll just let you down. I've already let down one friend group and another specific friend for failing to do specific things. And what have I been doing? I guess just living life but I have been procrastinating as well. Why am I telling you all this and including this into my game dev diary? Well firstly, I guess it's my diary and I'll do whatever the heck I want with it. And secondly, I don't know. Typing it out now like this though, it does make me feel better. It helps me put my chaotic brain with thoughts and ideas running by at a thousand miles a minute and tries to make sense of it all.
So, what are the state of things? I think I should tackle that first. I feel that also putting some basic info of what's been going in my life will help any possible readers who might also relate to me and maybe we can try to both change for the better. Here's to us XD
Honestly, I have been feeling pretty down lately. I've tried to zero in on what the main cause is aside from the multitude of other shitty things that one can include in existence. What I've come to realize is that not speaking to my kids is the biggest damper. What makes things worse is that it's more them not wanting to spend that time with me. That actually really hurt me the most but anyway, let's not get into details. I might save that for another post or not.
Tumblr media
So from where I had last left of from the last game dev entry, I had completed making the tactical game. I'm too lazy to get into detail of how so I'll probably save that for a separate post in the future or something XD
Tumblr media
Aside from that, the next class stated and essentially I had to make a sneaking game with AI components. Wasn't easy to say the least and I've started to hate dealing with AI because of it. I did manage to squeeze out a working system as best I could but I would like to master it so I'll try getting back to it eventually in the future
Now we are in the present class which started a few days ago and involves me needing to work with team mates again. They don't seem bad though but I do want to meet the deadlines that have been placed by us for this. To keep things short since I'm getting lazy to type now is that we need to make a side view platformer with sneaking elements and other mechanics. I've been given a specific task of first making the health bar and damage aspect as well as a spike trap to demonstrate the damage on the player. I'll try to get on that and update when I can. But again, don't count on me XD my thoughts lately have also drifted to the passing of Akira Toriyama and I'll most likely make a separate post for him in the future
Thank you for reading this far. I appreciate it really. Till next time

Saw your comment on Nordickies' post that you have regional OCs, are they regional OCs of Finland and would you mind sharing about them? I'm on the lookout for Nordic regional OCs to discuss and draw fanart for. (You would also be my 3rd mutual with regional OCs that I promise to draw... eventually, when I'm less slow and lazy)
Yessss! I've wanted to draw them myself as well but I guess I just haven't got into it yet (always feeling kinda insecure about drawing).
I guess larger areas like Ostrobothnia and Savonia etc would like to be split like they are split in the current regional division as they can have quite some cultural differences nowadays so basically you'd have a lot of twins like:
North Savo and South Savo twins
North Karelia and South Karelia twins
Kanta-Häme and Päijät-Häme twins
And of course the Ostrobothnia quadruplets, one of whom is Swedish-speaking
So maybe the bigger units like big Ostrobothnia would be like old countries so they're gone but there are the little ones now instead...
I'm kinda struggling with Lapland because the Finnish part is totally a little brother to the Ostrobothnia quadruplets but a small part of it is within Sápmi. I'm not really sure how to navigate that in an inoffensive way...
Ok big ramble happening now so let's put a cut here. Warning the next part is L O N G!
Kainuu
So we have Kainuu, she used to live in the Ostrobothnian house... room... whatever they are in the region-verse ^^'' She always thought North Ostrobothnia was cooler than her, like a big sister, thinking her dialect is better etc. And of course, North Ostrobothnia was also wealthier. Kainuu would conduct her trade of tar through North Ostrobothnia. But at the same time, she desperately wanted to build her independence from the "big sister", she was Eastern Finnish culturally after all, unlike the Western Finnish North Ostrobothnia. Even tried to become her own province (move out of the house?), but failed. However, now she has successfully become her own region.
She used to be very agricultural with no big cities or "high culture" to show off, although she is quite the skilled poet. Everyone still sees her as a starving, poor farmer, which she indeed might have been at one point (not unique in this aspect though), but others seem to have failed to notice that she's become quite tech focused! She develops video games and does programming, and even set up Europe's fastest supercomputer in her house with the help from some other European countries.
Though of course, she has never abandoned her hobby of hiking and, controversially to some, hunting.
Ostrobothnia
In Finnish, Pohjanmaa. In Swedish, Österbotten.
Like I said, there's four of them, and one of them is Swedish-speaking (primarily). Though some other Swedish-speaking regions out there might argue that his dialect is barely understandable... And oh boy does he like sailing, it and fishing are incredibly important to him. To avoid confusion, he might introduce himself to you as "Pampas".
He also has close ties with South Ostrobothnia. This guy though? Walks around in a Jussipaita and a knife on his belt. He is very proud of his identity, probably more than anyone else of the regions. In history, he had the unfortunate reputation of starting a fight, no matter with fists or knives, and no matter if it was at someone's wedding. While he doesn't do this anymore, he is not ashamed of that history. He thinks it's badass. He is also an expert musician, known for his vast collection of folk music.
(Now I'll just add: I go to singing classes, and yesterday I was literally singing a folk song from there and what was it about you ask? It was about throwing hands at a wedding :D)
(These guys also have some controversial hobbies related to furs...)
I guess I should also add that he's quite religious, and so are Central and North Ostrobothnia.
Central Ostrobothnia is also musical, she is a true fiddle-playing master. North Ostrobothnia I already talked about a bit. Her speciality is the kantele. She is the most successful out of the four, although that does not mean the others would be miserable either.
Savonia
Welcome to the relaxed company of the Savo twins! They will invite you for a cup of coffee and some kalakukko on the market square. North Savo will insist that her capital is the center of the world. They have close ties to the Karelias and share a lot in common. And you can never be quite sure if you can get a straight answer out of them. They are also "the funny ones".
Karelia
Karelia twins are also quite relaxed and hospitable like the other easteners, and they also have quite some song and kantele skills. They will bake you a trillion different kinds of pies, and South Karelia says he'll get you some "atom" and "hydrogen" and comes back with meat pies. I guess North Karelia would also be mending her ties to Russia's region "Republic of Karelia"? They used to live in the same house after all. (I'm referring to pre-Swedish rule). Although since then, North Karelia has got a fair share of Savonian influence in her as well, including starting to primarily speak in a Savonian dialect. (Like I said, close ties.) South Karelia used to be so wealthy and "cultured", but Russia put a little wrench in that...
Both have been on the front lines of countless of wars, as well as being tossed around between Sweden and Russia.
Pirkanmaa
Holy shit this guy is suddenly speeding to the top. At this rate, he is going to be challenging Uusimaa himself! I bet Varsinais-Suomi is grinding her teeth together in jealousy (they have a playful rivalry). At one point in history, he had quite the communist opinions. Now, he'll make you eat blood sausages.
Uusimaa
The wealthiest, the most attractive, the most international, owner of Helsinki. Other regions will call him "arrogant" and accuse him of "thinking he's better than the rest of us". He will probably complain about having to pay stuff for the other regions though. Maybe he will throw in slang words originating from Somali and the other regions can only be confused. Whether the others like it or not though, he is very culturally influential. He's not a bad guy and is quite accepting.
Varsinais-Suomi
The original Finland! The location of the original capital! Reduced to what?? As said, she has a playful rivalry with Pirkanmaa and they compete with each other in a lot of things, especially ice hockey.
Keski-Suomi
A rapper. He's a rapper.
-------------------
Well that's not quite all of them but it's all of the ideas I have in my head now. I kinda really wish to avoid all the stuff about like, areas taken by the Soviet Union etc because that's like really politically controversial I'd just rather not touch it tbh. Like the nature of Karelia being split to multiple parts etc so I want to make sure this is only about the regions of Finland and not like a historical cultural area or an ethnicity.
I didn't include appearances right now but I do have some ideas about those as well.

Why is Simon pegg so important to me?? I know a lot of you probably won't care but I feel the need to write it out somewhere.
To start when I was younger, I always watched mission impossible with my parents ( the tv show) and when I got older I wanted to watch the movies which my parents also watched with me. I didn't care for the first two but the third one I took an immediate liking to because of a character that was only in the movie for maybe 10 minutes, Benji Dunn. I'm pretty sure either that or chronicles of Narnia was my first brush with him. I love Benji's humors and I love it even more that Benji is fighting for his status as a field agent to be acknowledged more. It makes me happy because I often get dismissed because I look younger and I use humor a lot as a coping mechanism.
I think Star Trek was next. Even though I claimed I hated sci-fi till I realized doctor who was really good . I watched the first Star Trek movie in one of my classes for school. And i begrudgingly loved it. And when into darkess came out I was deep in my Sherlock phase so I loved that aspect too. But I looooved Scotty and checkov ( rip) .
I think the next brush was when my friend now roomate told me that she wanted to show me a scene from a movie and if I liked it we should watch the whole thing, that movie was hot fuzz. I loved it and I loved the whole movie, we also watched Shaun of the dead on the old tv j had under my loft bed . I still vividly remember sitting on the carpet of my old bedroom and watching it.
I think the next that came up was ready player one . He had a small part in this one but it was also during a very important part of my life. I was working and going to college and i didn't have much of a social life, but I had tuesdays and Thursdays , which were cheap movie days at the theater by my house. And there was currently only one movie I really cared to see and it was ready player one . I honestly didn't even like the movie that much, but it was a little escape for cheap , and that's what I needed .
Now, moving onto the big one , worlds end. Picture this , in this span of about a year or so, I had dropped out of college, got a job at a school where one of the kids attacked me on almost a consistent basis so I quit to do a sales job which made me severely depressed because I hated forcing people to buy stuff they didn't want. And on top of that I was moving out of my childhood home and we couldn't go into the new house yet so we had to stay in an air bnb for a week or two. I didn't think it would affect me because I was an adult and it's just a house , why should I be sad? It , crushed me. I felt like my childhood was not completely away from me and on top of being depressed due to my job it was a mess . Crying almost every night . I decided I needed a pick me up so on my shitty broken MacBook I finally decided to watch Worlds end. And i felt scene , Gary's struggle with holding onto the past felt like it mirrored my own experience and it helped me so much, I rewatched it on repeat for like a week straight whenever I got the time. And when I wasn't watching it I was listening to " nerd do well" Simon peggs autobiography . I also finally bought a physical copy of rogue nation at this point as well. Basically I just needed more Simon pegg
The last one of great importance is Man up. I fucking love this movie . It is one of those romcoms where I felt so seen . I'm very much a hopeless romantic as well as a cynic when it comes to my romantic life. I want the fairytale romance but I know it's not realistic. It's an ongoing struggle. But I feel like man up captures this perfectly and once again he is making me feel seen.
All in all I had a lot more deep emotions tied up with his work so with the small chat we had and him calling me " little Gary king when I went to get my picture with him. I felt like it healed a part of me I didn't know I needed fixed. Idk I might delete this but for now I just feel like it's important

WE'RE SO BACKKKKK
Kind of, that is.
School is still the bane of my existence so y'know, I'm slightly dead inside but that's okay! As far as I'm concerned, my junior year should be much more relaxed, though a bit busy because I'm joining my school's theatre tech. After school commitments and all that. Maybe Academic Decathlon too, if my schedule can fit it that is. Well, I'll get a decent amount of free time within those classes too so maybe I work on this while I'm in them? If I even feel like it at the time then I prolly will.
As of right now, I'm getting the more technical aspects sorted out like variables and crap because if I don't do that now I know I'm going to regret it severely. I've a bunch of decisions to make on that front, and also trying to figure out how to set up pages like the relationships page. I also need to figure out how to lay stuff out and what not, though that isn't going to be too hard if I put some time into it.
After that I'll have to figure out the story. I think I mentioned this before but I mostly wrote the prologue just in the moment. Not a single thing planned whatsoever. And yes, while I can continue to do that, it'll probably end up with me changing wuite a few things as I write more. So I'm going to make a bit of a storyline once summer break hits. That and also I'll probably be reading a lot of romance, especially cconsidering I have absolutely no clue how to write it whatsoever. How fun! So actual writing will start back up during the summer time. Preferably I want to get chapter 1 done by the end of this year and maybe even get a chunk of chapter 2 done. I do also have to plan for how long I even want to make this story though...
Well as a side note, I'm also taking the time to learn Unity because I can, that and I want to make some other games as well. Also on one of my other posts I mentioned I was gonna make a little universe out of some of my story concepts, and for the most part I've got a decent bit done! I'll make another post about it soon enough, once I think I've gotten everything I wanted down. I plan to split it into three stages: Mystic, Modern, and Apocalypse. I'm only working on the Mystic stage right now. I'll explain it once I post the doc but I just though it would be nice to mention.
Thats basically allk for now. Have a nice day gng!

! > HI!
! > recently, FIGURED out im a HEIR of HEART!
! > and I HAVE no CLUE what any of THIS means!
! > heh HELP.
Another Classpect ask! And so soon too- maybe I should get started on making a template for these things. Just Kidding! I would never sacrifice my individual charms to the whims of *structure*. (Also Heart is the best aspect and I have no bias.) (Definitly. Even if it's mine.)
Annnyyywho- quick classpect rundown go: Class, the first part, determines your playstyle and how you use your aspect, and it is tied to your personality and character flaws. Your planet generates quests based on it, both to make you a better person and teach you your new powers. Aspect are your powers, and are basically elements- they are tied to certain themes that have recurred in your life and may be the foundational units of the universe.
Got that? Now let's go over what each of them means, both in-game and for your character arc!
Heirs are both the easy mode class and the most difficult coplayers in actually getting stuff done. I don't know what it is, because even though they have the highest elemental power in the game and specialize in Making Things Happen, they seem to be terminally unaware or uncreative in everything they try to get involved in. It's not their fault actually- TC is one of the smartest people I know and it seems other Heirs follow suit- in fact, they seem the most capable at actually doing the impossible if they put their mind to it. It's just that Heirs don't seem to like thinking about that- or any problems really. These guys are terminally afflicted with Repression, and like to think that letting things happen and just helping people along is enough. News Flash; Your ideas are worthwhile. Your insecurities are surmountable. And thinking about your trauma actually increases the chance that you'll get over it! Crazy, I know. Gamewise, these guys are more or less stuck in your bog-standard Heros Journeys questwise, and fall into a druid playstyle focusing on improving your relationship with your aspect and controlling its wild power. I wasn't kidding about the highest elemental power part- these guys can do things with the pure raw form of their aspect that make Lords look like amataurs in comparision. They just need to realize that they can wield it first.
Heart is the best aspect. Sort of. While I have no bias, I must admit that I have more experience in this element than most, and I may make it seem a little too easy to master. That is not true. Heart deals with the Soul, and with Identity, along with Self-Expression and the Ego. It deals in explosive Emotions, electric Passion, (not just romance do you know how much I hate that stupid stereotype it's about love for what you do and courage and the willpower to be yourself and-) well um. Love I suppose. Not bonds or relationships but care and empathy, the ability to look at another's Soul and relax. Took me a while to learn that. The relaxing I mean. Anyways, people who are Heartbound do tend to be firecrackers, or "unique souls." Expect to deal with the struggles of being misunderstood, or having to understand others. Heart also deals with selfishness after all. Don't you love paradoxes? Gives TC a headache, but I always thought that humans are inheirently paradoxical. Maybe all sapients are!
Tangents out of the way, (And boy was that a tangent,) If you put it together you get a Heir of Heart. Combining Repression with the aspect of Identity probably means there are some Things you need to realize about yourself- or maybe you just need to stop repressing your emotions for once. Be Yourself is going to be a theme for sure, so get a headstart on that self-actualization by letting go of Embarassment. Easy, I know! On the power side of things, Heart always seems to be a bit variable compared to other Aspects- but I can see the raw power of Emotion being manifested catastrophically by a good Heir. Allowing Heart to be controlled is no small feat, and Heirs specialize in massive aoe and swaying people to their side. Combined with Hearts powers of persuasion, and this is looking to be a good combo indeed- as long as you know when to stop. Heirs that subsume to their Aspect get consumed, so hold on to your will and stand your ground. I'm sure you'll do fine. I believe in you!
----------<I>----------
Maybe don't be so graceless with your Grandeur next time...don't need to record for an hour for every ask! Save it for the Sburb Info posts...

First day of lab!! Waiting for the bart.
I had to buy new boots from Acme because after 3 semesters of abuse, I had to retire my workboots from RPD. There was a hole near the big toe knuckle that sparks would go into. I ruined a pair of socks this way.
I got tims in size 7 and it is a little tight on my bunion on my right foot. I don't want to destroy these brand new boots. I have brought spats for this reason. They look extremely stupid, but I don't care. I always look extremely stupid in my welding getup anyway.
I am going to be slightly late ugh I hate being late. And youtube music has turned off for no reason. The service here is shitty I guess.
---
Ok I am not going to be late lol. Bart is pretty fast.
---
Welding was good?
I did mig. Just lines on plate. We were supposed to do the welding process from last semester but I figured I should get practice with the gun since I'm learning FCAW this semester. I did stick last semester and I probably will never do it again LOL. The gasless aspect of stick was nice, but ultimately I was bad at it and don't care enough to improve.
Anyway, at first my mig beads were blobby and disgusting. Partially because the plate was too cold, but also because my hand was unsteady and my travel speed was inconsistent and my distance away from the plate was inconsistent. Basically everything was inconsistent.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, I think I was a little too far because the nozzle is different this semester and the contact tip is a little more recessed into it, so the visible stickout is not the same as what I'm used to. Also my desk setup was a bit too high or low and after I fiddled with it a bit I was a little more comfortable.
Started with flat, then did a few lines of horizontal. Being able to see the arc is really helpful, because if I line up the arc with the toe of the previous bead, I am able to get a perfect overlap (no little valley). However, today I could not see the arc at all. So I focused on the edges of the cooling puddle and tried to keep my line straight. I failed a few times because I am not good at drawing a straight line. Also I had to weld over this lumpy plate and was simultaneously trying to fill in the lumps. But since I couldn't see very well, this did not go very smoothly. Literally. It was not smooth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Man, I'm excited to have a welding journal. Finally, somewhere to put my photos. Previously I just texted the photos to all my friends, most of whom did not care.
Tumblr media
Also, my spats were awesome. They covered my boots completely and didn't look too dorky. I will not end this semester with ruined boots, ok. Imma try to make these boots last the rest of my welding degree.
Speaking of welding degree, I may be taking more courses than I anticipated because I asked Javier when we get to do more practical things and less theoretical practice projects and he said "in the C class." So. I will take that into consideration.
James said I could make a stool though. Maybe I will attempt this if I have time outside of the real classwork. I could just model it on an existing stool? Seems like a reasonable place to start.

Hey AJ! I hope you’re having a good Monday :)
I have a question for you, or an ask I suppose. So I know you love the Sara/Grissom relationship dynamic as much as I do (and your content has kept me endlessly entertained for what I think has been 9 years now ((I just realized this wowwwww — 19 y/o to 28 😵‍💫)) I mean, you’re basically my favorite writer, too!!! ☺️) anyway, I wondered if you’ve ever felt somewhat similar about a relationship dynamic in a book. I’m craving something like it, and I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump so anything sort of similar would be ideal - though I understand a show that’s spanned 20+ years had more time to explore said dynamic lol. I’ve read the classics and stuff but wondered if you had any recs! And if not, any book recs would do. Like I said, I’ve been in a bit of a slump :/
And again, if you have none that’s fine too! Just wanted to ask!! Thank you 😊
hi, anon!
thank you for your kind words! you've been following my content for nine years? wow! i'm honored, truly. thank you for being part of my little corner of the internet! ❤
as for your question, i can't say i've ever felt similarly about any literary dynamic as i have about gsr.
albeit gsr is my otp to end otps, so they're kind of in a class of their own for me, regardless of medium—especially because, as you mention, they are pretty unique in their construction, as a 20+-year primetime tv romance slow burn. there's just nothing really like them out there!
while there are a few literary dynamics that evince particular aspects of gsr for me, almost all of them come from classic literature, so you're probably already familiar with the texts (e.g., odysseus & penelope from the odyssey by homer, hamlet & ophelia from hamlet by william shakespeare, just the general vibes of a lot of regency and victorian-era romantic pairings as in the works of jane austen and the brontë sisters, etc.)—and none of them is really a full match anyhow.
meanwhile, i don't tend to read a lot of contemporary fiction where romance features heavily in the plot.
all of the above so, i can't really think of any "similar to gsr" book recs for you.
the best i can do is just something more general.
i don't know what type of books you usually tend to read, but one book i do enjoy that does feature romance—not at all like gsr in its particulars, except that the two characters involved do start out both doubting their own lovability and come to find acceptance and affirmation in each other—is the shipping news by annie proulx.
it's a realistic fiction novel about a single american father who, after a family tragedy, moves to a remote fishing community in newfoundland, canada with his two young daughters and takes a job with a local newspaper.
though the romantic plot isn't the main one (i.e., it isn't a romance novel, just a novel that happens to feature a romance), it is ultimately quite sweet, and the book itself is well-written. for me, it was a highly enjoyable read.
of course, i should probably say something here about how because i am in my life outside of the internet a creative writing professor, the things that make a story enjoyable to me tend to have more to do with the author's craft practices than anything else. i don't really have any preferences when it comes to genres or settings in fiction; i just want the author to do what i would consider to be cool shit with their language, and i'm good to go. your mileage may (and probably will) vary, depending on your tastes.
anyway, since i struck out on offering you anything even remotely gsr-like with my rec, i will put your question out to anyone else who cares to chime in:
does anyone know of any books with gsr-esque dynamics in them for my dear anon? if so, could you share them in the replies?
please and thank you!
good luck, anon! i hope you're able to find something enjoyable to read to get you out of your slump. ❤

Still thinkin about adennezene. I dont know if ive actually gone deep into my classpect analysis for her on here yet, but i did do a ton of careful consideration about it. Its not just for the "made of void" pun.
Adennezene ramblings below:
Actually, there was something else about her blood color i still havent been able to work out. So right now i have her blood being the missing texture magenta/black checker pattern, but it was pointed out that sburbs missing texture color might just be bright lime, since all the "unfinished parts" are that color. But i do love the character interactions that are like the 6 vs 9 meme. Two people pointing at the same blood sample and being like: "its magenta!" "No, its black!". Like, the pattern is not noticeable until theres a lot of it, which i kinda like. Theres no way for them to reasonably notice somethings seriously up until things get really intense. Main concern is any reveal of lime blood would be not quite as impactful, though enough setup would negate that. I think since this character will only be written about or drawn occasionally and not have any kind of cohesive story to go in she probably should stay with missing texture blood.
As for the main idea we started with in this little text post, the whole maid of void thing. From what i understand, the maid role is about taking care of/dealing with their aspect, and with adennezenes being nothingness itself, her role is to literally make sure the absence of a player doesnt ruin absolutely everything. Thats the most obvious reason for her classpect, but there are several others. Her primary skill is the synthesis of materials from what would otherwise be considered background elements, things generally ignored or glazed over, being nothing in the eyes of others. In that way she is creating from nothing, which also feeds into her being a creation class. Void also encompasses secrets and obfuscations and her approach to everything being "break it all down into the smallest, most basic bits" gives her an advantage to dealing with secrets, though shes never been that great at socializing, so usually this just applies to secrets hidden in the world. Shes abysmal in combat, usually opting to find a good hiding spot, or at least put something between her and her enemy other than just space.
