Hoping to finish the chapter I’m working on, but it’s not even halfway to my preferred word count (I have 8k words, wanna make it to 20k), and the stuff I do have down rn still has to be beta-read *cough* @shadow-dwelling-anon *cough*

the flashback sequence I’m writing right now is taking so long I might have to just make it a new chapter. But that means my 8k for ch1 will be reduced to 6k.

Yep. You read right. This chapter isn’t for my unfinished fic. It’s for a prequel fic of the fic I haven’t updated in months.

I want you to T-pose. Turn your right thumb up and your left thumb doen and look at your right thumb. Move your arms up and down a bit until you feel a nerve running from your armpit to your palm. Now turn your right thumb down and your left thumb up, and look at your left thumb. Keep your chest facing forward and your shoulders back. Move your arms again until you feel that nerve again. Keep alternating between these two for a minute, or look at each thumb thirty times each.

Now sit down. Put your left hand firmly under your left buttock, palm down. Keep your shoulders back and put your right hand over the crown of your head, very gently pulling it to the right. Do this for thirty seconds, then do it again but with your right hand under your right buttock.

These are stretches for the nerves in your arms, and are very good for people who sit behind a computer a lot, or fibre artists, or you name it. Do them daily. They will hurt in the beginning, but keep doing them, even after the pain has gone, or it will return and you'll have to start all over.

I was rambling on the issue of museums and human remains and how certain populations are more likely to have their bodies put on display to be gawked at and then went "well I guess the Pompeii casts were of Europeans. there are bones in there right?" and Googled it to make sure, at which point I confirmed that yes there are bones in there, but more interestingly DNA testing revealed that a cast of an adult holding a child everyone assumed was a mother and child were, in fact, a man and a kid entirely unrelated to him. Honestly that's more moving to me. Maybe they were connected in a way other than blood, but maybe a stranger saw a child when the world was ending and thought the one thing he could do was hold them.

i do think its generally wise to avoid using genAI in your projects unless you're actually interested into learning it as a medium, not for any ethical reason but because 'default dall-e/midjourney generation' has replaced 'colorful canva silhouettes' and 'poorly photoshopped stock photo model' as the house style for abysmal perfunctory dogshit and it'll be hard to shake that association
