When my ego disintegrates I become animal

This is one of the things it can mean to be therian.

Do you really wanna shift? Turn off the lights. Turn off your phone and your computer. Sit down. Take what time you need to prepare. Then take a deep breath, and as you slowly exhale:

Let go.

But...you can't let your ego go if you don't understand what it is and what's left without it. Turning your ego off may seem like a mystery right now but it can become no more difficult than many of your own biological processes, like taking a deep breath and exhaling slowly. If you don't feel like this will work, I implore you to take the time to watch this video:

Ego is a wall around your consciousness that most people cease to perceive. It can trap you in a prison of your own design and convince you that this cramped hell of an existence is safer than the alternative. To counteract your fear, you need to feel safe in your own skin. That means you need a time and place in which you can feel truly safe, with not an ounce of tension in your body. Don't underestimate the importance of physicality - this can be something like meditation, or it could be something like exercise or some kind of sport. You will slip back into ego in the beginning no matter what. You'll probably run into all kinds of limiting beliefs. This is normal. Keep practicing and it will get easier to just be.

None of your fear, doubt, or despair can control you if you let your ego go. This is because ego is literally just a reaction to fear. It is the act of reaching for another thought, reason, or interpretation. You are actively doing this. It often defies all logic. You may think it keeps you from being impulsive, but when you let that constant impulse go while you meditate with your animal instincts in mind, it becomes absurdly easy to shift. Feel that near-instant reaction and learn to slow it down and retract it instead. This gets easier with time and practice. It might even become irresistible. For some, after continuing to practice this for weeks, months, or years, there is a point of no return. Some go back and forth, some of us stay continuously shifted to some degree, and some of us love it.

Does being that way scare you? Does it not excite or inspire you? Do you not have the audacity to be yourself? Are you not exhausted from living in fear?

There's nowhere you're supposed to be. There's nothing you're supposed to do. There's nowhere you're supposed to go. You're in an eternal here and now. Your instinct will protect you. You're not going to become the "wrong person." You're not someone who doesn't own up to their mistakes. And if you are, you can fix that if you really want to. Or not. I don't run your show.

This is your conscious experience and yours alone. Few outside of yourself will ever notice that you are different. The ones that do are usually just curious, but no matter what you do, none of them can see inside your head. The ones that don't notice are too caught up in their own lives (most people). And the ones that take offense aren't here. They're blinded by their own hubris. For all intents and purposes, they can't even see you.

Idk if I'm gonna get jumped for this but....Iiii don't know if it's really appropriate to call Vander Jinx's dad. He definitely was her guardian, with huge uncle energy for sure, but dad? Like, dad is something really personal and requires a high level of closeness, and they didn't seem to share that bond. Out of all the kids Powder seemed to be the most removed from him and share very little traits/interests with him, and after growing up we don't see Jinx care about him at all. So, idk, to call him her dad seems more like a fanservice to me rather than what can be confirmed by the show.

He's defo her dad in the au, tho, because there he would spend a lot more time with her and because of Vi's death pay more attention to her, therefore tightening their bond.

UPD: I mean, Vander isn't even a part of her hallucinations. Now, you could argue that it's too traumatic for her even to remember him as is seen in season 1 ep9, but I think it's the opposite, actually. Knowing Silco he probably yapped about Vander all the time (and he literally does this in ep5), so Jinx definitely remembers him and thinks of him to some extent. But why then his hallucination appeared only once? Well, I think it only happened because Jinx was under extreme pressure already, plus she recently had a shimmer operation, which could've worsened her mental state, hence Vander appearing as a hallucination. Again, this is just how I see it, I may be wrong, but I do think this view of their relationship is rational enough.

aksdjfhsd yeah!! also I imagine there being a ton of angst potential because Stan remembers ("remembers" my ass, he doesn't remember shit) himself and Shermie as being fairly close as kids, because everything involving "my brother" is conflated with Shermie, until the Mystery Incident got him kicked out. But Shermie wasn't super close with either of his brothers because of the age difference, and also because I hc him as not being home very often and getting the hell outta dodge as soon as he was old enough. So poor Stan has an imagined closer brotherly dynamic with Shermie, who isn't maintaining this dynamic into adulthood because to him Stan is his younger brother who dropped off the face of the earth (sad) at age 17, popped up a few times in newspapers to get arrested and/or scam people, and then dropped off the face of the earth again at 27.

You know, finally taking the time to play through Horizon Forbidden West properly and not rushing through made me appreciate a lot of things more. But also made me real sad about some parts, ie missed potential.

Playing slowly through HFW made me appreciate the Gaia Gang even more, but it also made me jealous, because the gang in itself, esp the Varl-Zo-Erend triad, feels a lot closer to each other than to Aloy, so, to me.

I mean, I GET IT. Aloy is out there, running around saving the world while the others are hauled up together, studying, so they get to spend a lot of time together.

I just find it sad cos I wanna feel that connection between them and Aloy as well. Esp cos we see how much Aloy learns to value these bonds over the game and there's just, kind of a disconnect.

I know it would be hard to integrate it well. Guerilla cant make us go back to the Base constantly. I would have loved though if your companions could call you throughout the game just for small chats. They already do that to notify you of available Sidequests, I wish they would have done that for random chats too. Like, just make it an optional function, and they can only contact you when youre not in settlements or fights. If you happen to enter either of them during the call just make Aloy say "Gotta go, sry!".

I just wish we got to talk more to them. Heck, just put some of the Companion or Training voicelines as those optional overworld chats. Not only would Aloy not feel as disconnected from the group, we could also learn more about our friends and actually bond with them organically than just rushing through all available convo options after Main Quests.

TLDR, I love the Gaia gang but Im sad I dont feel as close to them as they feel to each other, and I wish we had more opportunities to spend time with them.
