Re-Spun Threads is a paperback comic anthology of fairytales and folklore set in cultures (micro or macro) outside the original or well-known version of classic tales.
Sixteen creators and creative teams came together to craft short comics based on the concept of retelling classic tales with the twist that the characters and/or time and place had to change from the original. The goal was to bring the structure of a fairytale and mold it to convey themes and cultures more relevant to ourselves-- Not to unweave the tapestry of tales that we love, but to rework them into something new.

Happy International Women's Day! ✊ And Happy Day I Spent at the Post Office Mailing All Zine Pre-Orders! I'll be spending the weekend sending out individual emails with tracking numbers, so thank you, as always, for your patience. :)
Here are two works you'll be seeing in LAMINATOR Vol. 1:
Reflejo de una Soldadera: Jovita Idar, hand embroidery, collage, and gilding on paper; and
The Face of a Mexican Revolutionary: Maria Del Carmen Alatriste, hand embroidery, graphite, acrylic, and gilding on paper
by Laura Rodriguez (Phoenix, AZ).
Laura says: "Soldaderas is an homage to the untold, heroic stories of Mexican womxn of the Revolutionary War of 1910 and thereafter. These womxn have a legacy of creating agency for themselves during a time when they had none. They were influential writers, journalists, scholars, leaders, educators, and much more, yet their stories go unrecognized as contributors during a pivotal time in Mexico’s history. It is my hope that this body of work re-ignites their history so their legacies will be celebrated and not forgotten."
Now that #Barbie is the focus of more of our conversations, it is worth remembering when the US military and Mattel created an alliance between 1989 and 2002 that #militarized Barbie. This 🧵 is a #zine part of my current #military #Barbie research.

Go out on patrol, Hawks. It’s just weather, Hawks. It’s not so bad, Hawks.
The fifteen-year-old mentally grouches at his handler while perched on a power line, observing the last-minute holiday shoppers.
“All Might’s balls, it’s cold,” he whines, wings shivering violently, sending cascades of snow down to the street below. He ducks into his collar when faces tilt to look at him.
One face, though, is horrifyingly familiar. And so is her wide grin.
“Don’t even think about it!” Hawks calls as he sees her crouch down to a pile of fresh powder. The joke’s on him, though: Rumi never listens.
The first snowball he manages to avoid. The second smacks him right in the chin. He hears Rumi cackling even as he launches off in pursuit, face freezing and blood singing.
By the end of the chase, he’s flushed, laughing, and, for the first time in weeks, warm.
Interested in buying a print version of the zine? (poll)
^ mini mock up zines from when I went crazy last month doing a zine promo photoshoot with Coppy.
I appear to to have an almost finished zine of @44 pages worth of updated/revised (partly with improved layouts) content from the digital issues one & two slowly being uploaded to Mixam to become a 'real' physical print fanzine 👀
Just need help to to decide how many copies to bulk order once i get the first 1-3 test prints back, so I don't end up with a box of over 100 printed zines going rusty in a corner for decades like last time I got a fanzine printed.
