Thunderbeards drawing by co-creator Parker Jacobs reacting to the Disney TVA leak which included his rejected show.
The caption for it on IG sarcastically says "I detest internet leaks."

also this is spoilers but i saw this on reddit and now i must scream about it sooooo spoilers for the end of wyll's romance maybe idk
okay tbh i cant confirm if this is true cuz i havent even beaten the game yet HA but people wouldnt lie on the internet right.... but anyways i saw that someone said one of wyll's romance endings is that he becomes a duke and you guys get MARRIED omg... and it has been on my mind all day and now im having very intense aza/wyll thoughts but mostly aza though aha
listen. just. just listen. okay. picturing aza going from a painfully awkward and socially inept crypt keeper living underground among the dwarves and the deceased, to the wife of the charismatic, renowned grand duke of baldur's gate, UGH. learning to socialize properly with nobility, learning how to maintain small talk, adjusting to the sheer size of their estate, free of cold drafts and water leaks. and the SUNLIGHT? the way it shines through the windows every morning, to remind her another day has come? and how much more comfortable the beds are when they're made of fur and feathers, not stone. and the way she's obviously very out of place, especially as a tiefling living among the upper echelon of baldur's gate, i'm sure she sticks out like a sore thumb. i'm sure she's turned lots of heads while incessantly infodumping about the best way to preserve a dead body, not yet understanding that nobility often aren't fixated on such things the same way she is lol. she's still a little weird and unsettling and unsure of how to handle herself in such a new environment, but hey... it's a lot more fun learning the nuance of courtly dance than it is trying to get a wriggly tadpole out of your head! she'll take the fright of social anxiety over that any day.
anyways. dies

I'm rewatching the Disney TVA pilots for the first time since they showed up almost a year ago, gonna try to scribble down my two cents as I work my way through them:
Country Club (Big City Greens): I like this one, it's one of my favorites here! I don't know anything about BCG and have never watched it, but this made me want to check out the show someday. it may only be an animatic and not as visually fancy as the others, but the characters at this stage are already very fun and well thought-out. I think it speaks volumes about how strong the premise and storytelling is when it stands above some of the other pilots in the collection that have full animation but weaker storytelling.
Shred Force: an absolutely gorgeous pilot and a cool premise. The reason I started rewatching the DTVA pilots was because I stumbled on an old Mercury Animation demo reel from 2014 which has some clean HD footage from Shred Force and Thunderbeards, and I remembered how cool this one was even in its grainy leaked version. The facial rigging for the main old man rock star they spoke to stood out to me as exceptional. I love the idea of the kid leads often leaning on rock Wayne's World style, but then having to engage with and/or learn other music genres in order to solve their problems and grow as characters. Musical genres have only become more fluid and broad in the years since this was made in 2012, which makes me feel like the idea's got even more potential today. Really hope they can either revisit this somehow, or someone else picks up the torch and tries their own take on it.
Fish Hooks: I've never watched Fish Hooks and don't plan to, but this was fun. There were a couple really funny lines in this one that got some good laughs out of me; "I'm pregnant. LET'S TALK ABOUT IT" and "I've been trying to get fired for years" will probably enter my quote vocabulary at some point.
Martian Soap: Probably my least favorite of all the pilots, at least from what I've seen so far. There's one shot in the pilot that's nicely drawn and makes good use of the art style, while most of it is hard on the eyes, hard on the ears and a slog in the writing department with tons of cliches and hackneyed interactions. I hope I never watch this one again.
Mikey (Milo) Murphy's Law: I watched all of Milo a few years ago, and I came away from it thinking that the very first episode was the best one, so I'm not surprised to find out that it was also the pilot. The rough animation scrambles for the wolf with the beehive on its head are also gorgeous. I didn't expect this animatic to go so hard in the animation side of things. I wonder if Weird Al is also doing the voice in the pilot?
Jake's Team Pirate (Jake and the Never Land Pirates): it's a preschool show, I don't have a whole lot to say here, but it was a nice and gentle pilot to put on when I got up this morning and was still half-asleep. I think cutting the fourth purple-hat kid made a lot of sense, this crew currently feels bloated and it gives the shy kid more to do. More gorgeous Mercury animation, albeit with some visual bugs and errors which tells me this is either an earlier cut or could have been cut off with a "good enough, let's move to series already". I will always love Captain Hook and Smee. Also wow I guess I had more to say here than I expected
Beverly Hills Chihuahuas: all I know about BHC is that the movie poster was all over the place for a time and I never watched the film. The animation is very interpolated without much easing aside from full-on easing at -100 and 100, so movement often comes off very flat, but it still has some really visually nice moments at times... so I'm torn on whether I like it lol. The design for the lady who owns the mansion is very cute, i'd draw some pin-up art of her if I had time to draw pin-ups of every cute lady I saw in leaked animation pilots
Squirrel and Rabbit (dunno what the title is for this): it's okay. Very, very Adventure Time. I remember grumblings from folks in DTVA around 2015 about them having to make shows that felt less Disney and more CN/Nick (with Pickle and Peanut being a popular scapegoat), and this feels like something they would've grumbled about. Looking back, the grumbles (and the girth of original ideas in these leaks) feel so humble and refreshing compared to today as we all continue living together in the derivative sequels/remakes/reboots IP rotten slop hellscape of the 2020's. Probably wouldn't watch this again, aside from maybe skipping to the main song at the end. I like the message of confidence regardless of the hat, it's simple but it's nice.
Mega Mega Woosh: Again, very Regular Show (the writing plus the animation studio also being the same doesn't help avoid the similarities lol), but very fun. One of my favorites in the bunch. I realized while rewatching this that some of the lines became quotable for me, which is a good sign. Will probably never see this get made today, but I wish it was a thing.
The Rapscallions: this is maybe my favorite pilot I've seen so far alongside Shred Force. I love the pairing of the retro futuristic/EPCOT art direction alongside 70's country/folk music, it gives the atmosphere so much whimsy and runs with (what I assume is) the general idea of "the future, but maybe as imagined in the 70's". The character foundation is maybe a little too far on the wacky side of things for my preference, but I still really like this one. Mercury's animation is always a treat, and there's some great work in this one too. Compared to most of the pilots, this one felt very Disney in a positive way. Really wish this one had made it to series.

F@tT Fic Marathon: 1301-1320
Tumblr media
no longer sick! squeezing in a big reading day before i'm back at work tomorrow
summer's early sway by ringneckedpheasant - I love the art in this ficlet about Ephrim, Throndir, and Red Jack post-canon
bluebird.exe by fangirl_squee - enjoyable with good Millie, Leap, and Figure A. makes me imagine the alternate Partizan where Millie and Leap escape much earlier
you can always find me here by ThunderstormsandMemories - A Pacific Rim AU for Hella/Adelaide/Adaire, that does a really cool thing with Adelaide and the drift
15 Days of F@TT by Thunderbeard - a selection of microfiction for 2020's 15 days of F@tT event. I'm sharing this because I really liked the author's idea of writing "5 minute" fics for the event and I liked the short executions of various ideas
the wreckage of optimism by ThunderstormsandMemories - a fic about Integrity and Orbit (one of the characters from the For The Queen game in Road to Partizan), or really Integrity thinking about Sokrates and being sad!
words read: 65,197 (3,437,251 total)

I mean, sure, you can go see Corey Feldman and Limp Bizkit, but you can see a really great show at a beautiful little theater this Sunday for way cheaper.
Seriously, though, this is the first ticketed show I've ever put together and I would love it if the place was packed.

This may be a dumb masterlist to question about, as I feel it to be a niche (yet kinda prominent) sub-genre of fandoms and culture, but; I wonder if an RP masterlist for lost media content would be possible? Be it cancelled releases, content that hasn't been archived online for a long time, or confidential media that only got online either by being leaked or by pure chance; Y'know, that kind of stuff.
If possible it could also act as a universal extension of other existing masterlists too (DreamWorks has some cancelled movies like Me and My Shadow, and Disney Television Animation has some unreleased pilots like The Thunderbeards, for a few examples... I think scrapped video game content can also be eligible)
this sounds quite interesting actually! tentatively made one, i hope this gets some reblogs because i really like the idea!!

Water Elemental Construct
It’s been a long time coming – the fire elemental construct was posted back at the beginning of 2017! – but we’re finally reaching the water elemental construct. Essentially a hybrid between an elemental and a golem, combining the construct’s resistance to magic with a body and powers drawn largely from the elemental matter that composes its form, elemental constructs are the creation of powerful, gifted mages able to meld the arts of summoning and construct creation into a single expression of their skill and eldritch power. Water elemental constructs can snuff out flames, engulf smaller creatures to drown them, and are significantly more dangerous against opponents on the water, although foes who flee to land are somewhat safer. In many ways, the elemental constructs are golems, but their elemental nature gives them connections to an entire other plane and subschool of magic, making these constructs rife with opportunity for stories around their creation (or their eccentric creators) and the ends to which their strength can be employed.
Created to protect the sea caves beneath Port Kral, a water elemental construct’s existence has been nearly forgotten by most of the people above but in addition to defending the city from aquatic infiltration, the construct’s presence also helps protect the underground vaults. As the fortified port often hosts various treasures, these caves could be an attractive target for intruders, but they most contend with the might of an aquatic golem in its element bound to drown and dismember foes, leaving their bodies to float into the harbor as they decay and bloat.
Working through intermediaries, the lich Anthol’zhan, known to the world as a reclusive descendant of the Comte di Merazza, has been working to retrieve waters from a half-dozen blessed or holy mountains, especially those which are home to jinushigami. These waters are part of a plan to create a water elemental construct, a new and deadly siege weapon in Anthol’zhan’s bid to eliminate a secretive nest of aranaea who stand in the way of the lich’s plans to transform the island nation of Piersanno into the premiere power of the Converri Sea.
A gift from the storm giant sorcerer Karoch Thunderbeard, a water elemental construct lies quiescent in a great fountain pool near the heart of the royal palace of Cimoborg. The construct’s command necklace was stolen decades ago after its purpose was forgotten to time. After carefully researching the necklace’s history on a hunch when it was recovered by adventurers, the occultist Aizhan, serving as chancellor, eyes her chance for a coup over the boy king if she can swap it for a duplicate. If activated, the construct’s first order of business is to knock opponents into the water from the low catwalks that let them observe the fish beneath, then seizing them, and the golem’s watery nature allows it to go through the catwalks unimpeded, leaving them deluged behind it.
