Also something ive been stirring on a little but mini headcanon post, what i imagine the main dudes (+ movie dude) wearing besides just Their Fit

I list their time of release since i generally imagine the games take place around the same time (also i dont know brands but like. Assume theyre wearing a knock off if there is any |D)

Postal 1 Dude (1997):

He naturally gravitates towards shirts with longer sleeves, baggy army style pants, and anything that obscures his form more than reveals it. Hes one of the more prone to body issues group out of the dudes, so its just better for his comfort.

Though Postal 1 takes place in 1997, i imagine his fashion sense kind of lags behind the trends for three main reasons: 1) Costs too much to keep up, 2) He legitmately doesnt really understand whats "in" until its already "out", and 3) he tends to buy a lot of his clothes second hand anyways.

Postal 2 Dude (2003):

Postal 2 dude has probably one of the smallest closets out of any dude, hes the kind to wear the same outfit for several days, spending excess money isnt really his thing. (Thats good health pipe money after all.)

What he lacks in amount compared to p1 he makes up for in being more comfortable in his body. Comparatively so at least. He wears a lot of old band t-shirts, tank tops, band shirts turned INTO tank tops. The nicest pair of shorts he owns are those tripp style ones, and thats because he stole them off of a guy who tried to mug him once.

Also yes. He wears those socks AND sandals at the same time.

Postal 3 Dude (2011):

For this one i get to explain how i imagine Postal 3's place in the canon, yay!

So i imagine Postal 3 as sort of an eternal repeating scenario in 2's head for that time in the coma, a sort of never ending adventure in a looping sandbox for p3 until he woke up. And while p3 does get that bonus of wearing whatever he'd like as more of a mental being... It also means he's got eternal 2011 fashion.

He wears a lot of cheesy shirts of the time, probably being one of few Dudes youd ever find in skinny jeans. His clothing choices are a little "douchey" to explain the vibe, but he enjoys it at least. If more so thinking about him showing up around p4's time, he shifts to more of a Step Dad type feel.

Postal 4 Dude (2022):

In a better mental state after divorcing his wife (in a rather.. explosive way and all) and calming down more in his later years, p4 has picked up a very "Fuck it, we ball" approach to fashion. He mixes and matches with little regard for appearance, more so how it feels on him. A lot of his clothes are also thrifted, and he loves picking out the more... interesting ones.

I couldnt find it on the editor i use, but i imagine him and p2 would wear those kind of shirts you find with an airbrushed on copyrighted character and someones name on it. And no, its not even his name.

Postal Movie Dude (2008):

And finally as a little bonus, i imagine movie dude's fashion is one of the more "normal" ones. He does a lot of walking for errands so he tends to pick lighter, more sporty clothes and he trends towards lighter colors.

His fashion is also partially due to Uncle Dave's influence, more 70s inspiration, tiedye shirts, maybe even a bracelet or a necklace from Dave for helping him out here and there.

Sorry for not replying right away, I wanted to wait until my brain switched to Jack-O' mode so you could get pure concentrated tumblr user solradguy thoughts on this.

My biggest hot take uhhh actually I thought on this for a while and I can't really think of any "hot" takes, just takes people seem to generally agree with, like how some parts of her story are written poorly and don't give her enough time to shine as her own independent character.

But I can talk about nice Jack-O' takes :^)

I like that she's a bit like Faust where she has really silly/comedic relief moments but her lore and her character are still taken seriously. She's not there JUST to be goofy and even though her lore isn't always written the best, it still does enough to make her interesting as a character, imo, with scenes showing figuring out who she is and the scenes with Raven in Xrd.

Her animations are great too I love them so much. You can really tell ArcSys had fun working on them with how creative some of them are. The way they animated her hair is cool too. It's definitely a 3D model but they made it so fluid. Sol, Testament, and Zato have good hair animations too but this post isn't about them haha

Jack-O's crouch isn't her best pose, it just took off because it's exploitable.

So the 1990s had a bit of a 1960s aesthetic throw back thing with tiedye, bead curtains, flared jeans, and long hair on men coming back into style and Jack-O' has some pretty direct 1960s-70s influences in her design and it's really easy to imagine her as an early '90s kid that never quite got over the '60s throwback stuff. Like it's really easy to imagine her getting excited about stuff like tiedye kits or rainbow flower appliques lol Actually wait they made a mug for one of the popup events that had a date on it that could be maybe Aria's or something

ArcSys was founded in 1988 and Daisuke is definitely older than 1991 so idk what else this year could mean!!

Anyway I just think Jack-O' is neat. I would still love her even if she was a worm

Ooh, one more bonus post before I really get going. (Because I don't want to have it at the end.)

If you have a really good memory, you may recall my breeding experiment with a small dog and big dog. While I was in the neighbourhood, I decided to age up Tiedye and see what monstrosity would be created. How disappointing that he was just a clone of his mother!

Oh well, at least I have some closure to this mystery....5 years later, ha ha.

Back Rooms Level: 840 - "The Daycare"

Description

Level 840 is the 841st level of the Backrooms. This level consists of a daycare with various play areas within the daycare walls and an outside area resembling a sort of liminal cafeteria area. A single physical entity called the Daycare Attendant tends to the daycare. It is completely indoors, so has no changing weather conditions and stays around a temperature of 21°C (69.8°F) at all times.

There is a day and night cycle with an instant switch, which will be referred to as “Playtime” and “Naptime”. There is no indication of the light-switch besides a subtle flicker of the lights a couple seconds before the switch itself. The night cycle usually lasts between 1-3 hours and the day cycle can vary from 3-9 hours.

The Mats

The Mats are the main area of the daycare and make up most of the level. Similar to a trampoline park, the floors are hard and matted surfaces. They vary from red to blue mats and cover the entire daycare floor. This is where naptime takes place when the lights are off (“Naptime”).

The Play Structures

Similar to the Tubes and Play Structures on Level 283, this area consists of Tubes and netted hallways colorfully intertwining into each other reaching up to around 15m (~49,2ft) in height. There are ramps leading to different floors of the play structure and half-slides and tube slides, all varying in color. It is not recommended to enter the full tubes as they have a chance of leading travelers to Level 283 and there has been no regularity to how often and which slides send you there.

The Ballpit

The Ballpit is one of the entrance points of Level 840, where in most cases you are greeted by the Daycare Attendant. As far as various communities in the Backrooms have been able to gather such as the M.E.G. and B.N.T.G. there has been nothing out-of-the-ordinary about the ballpit and is completely safe to be in.

The Staff room

The Staff room is currently the only confirmed  exit of this Level besides the tubes.. It is a metal door with a push-handle with a “Staff Only” sign roughly at eye-level. Inside this room is another door where the janitor’s closet is located. Sometimes the janitor’s closet will lead to an office building located in Level 11.

The Entrance

The Entrance is located just outside of the daycare, visible from the inside and closed off by an indestructible glass wall almost reaching up to the daycare’s ceiling. Numerous cafeteria-style tables and chairs line up against the outer walls of the daycare, having a grayish color with a green highlight.

There’s a chance a rainbow patterned slide in Level 283 can lead you to this Level, spitting you out in a ballpit where explorers have reported being greeted by the Sun Man.

The janitor’s closet within the staff room either leading to Level 11

On rare instances is it theorized if this door can lead travelers to Level “!” aka “Run for your Life”.

Entities

So far there is only one known entity in this Level, but this is still up for debate as it seems to have different “modes” with different rulesets; “The Daycare Attendant”. This entity is 3m (10ft) tall and is incredibly lanky, limbs being no thicker than broomsticks.

In the two standard forms the face has big glowing white eyes and no mouth. The torso’s anatomy is roughly comparable to that of an ant due to the ball-like chest and hip region with a thin middle and puffy shoulder joints. The chestpiece has a half-transparent star which emits a glow similar to the eyes. The thin middle consists of two connecting segments being held together by a joint with a star imprint, also emitting a soft glow. They wear a transparent set of shorts resembling the puffy shorts medieval jesters wore reaching roughly the middle of the thighs. They have ruffles on their neck and feet and have long ribbons with two bells wrapped around each wrist.

The Sun Man

The Sun Man is the Playtime-mode for the Daycare Attendant and is generally passive as long as you remain behaved. He walks around and cleans/picks up the play area of the daycare and will occasionally check up on the travelers. He reacts positively to gifts ranging from drawings to crafts to supplies. He has 7 sharp and pointy rays on his head

When a traveler tries to leave the daycare the Sun Man’s focus shifts immediately and he darts to the entrance doors, quickly retrieving the “escapees”; he will become more aggressive with each attempt, like a tally on each visitor.

When he gets aggressive, the 3rd mode is activated; “The Dark Sun”.

The Moon Man

The Moon Man is the Nighttime-mode for the Daycare Attendant and is generally aggressive or short-tempered. He walks around similar to the Sun Man, although he slouches more and moves in a more sporadic manner. He is very strict about Naptime, killing anyone on sight he deems as a “rule breaker”. He gets aggressive when you try to enter the play structures, although he doesn’t mind the ballpit as long as you stay quiet. He’s easily monitorable even when out of sight due to the bell that drags along the floor from his long hat. It is unknown if the 3rd mode can be activated while the lights are off.

The Dark Sun

The Dark Sun is the 3rd mode of the Daycare Attendant and is very aggressive towards travelers. The activation of this mode should be avoided at ALL COSTS! The appearance of this mode is an uncanny mash-up of both modes, but more sinister and having a dark color palette, like lava or a burning forest. They are very agile and will not calm down until they deem the rulebreaker(s) deceased and anyone unfortunate enough to run into him, despite “behaving”. Your best bet is to hide in the play structures and stay quiet.

A small bit of Autism allyship goes a long way

I've been wearing the same 4 oversized tiedye shirts since the beginning of the pandemic, basically. I've struggled to wear anything else due to sensory issues and gender dysphoria. I'm trying to branch out by wearing button up shirts. I went shopping with my mom at her gentle behest, and she bought me a new button up shirt.

We're going on a daytrip to a few towns over, and she encouraged me to wear my new shirt. I was a bit nervous cos I've been having increased sensory issues and dysphoria. But then she said this: "And you could bring your other shirt in the car in case you need to change."

Such a simple suggestion, but it means the absolute world to me. My mom has been an incredible Autism ally since I was diagnosed at 18. She's not perfect, but in the 11 years since my diagnosis, she's done a lot of work to understand what it means to be Autistic. And her saying this really solidified that for me.

TL;DR: OP's mom made a suggestion to accommodate/anticipate for OP's sensory needs, and it demonstrated to OP how much work she's done to become an Autism ally.

i do think we should be fair and acknowledge two(-ish) things about Klaus’s wardrobe design: from even back in s1 (post vietnam) he was shown to have a bit of a 70/80's vibe with the tiedye and striped shirts, so him dressing really "modern" for the 60's was in character, a necessity, and also a reference to comics!Klaus imo. it made sense for him to keep that style for a little bit in s3 since he'd just lived with it for 3+ years - he then experiments with the fringe jacket and finally the, for him, super casual off-the-rack, found this in a H&M look at the end. the second thing is that a lot of his clothing actually is womens clothing, even when it's not always immediately obvious, so mr Hargadon has kept that aspect of s1 Klaus. and as a bonus i think he did a great job giving us the leather pants back, but as a more "grown-up" version since Klaus's aged more than 4 years since the funeral. at least I thought the brown leather pants looked gorgeous on him, even though they were probably very uncomfortable in the warmer settings. 😂

GOD I am LOVING this Klaus Wardrobe Discourse. I agree with this too!!!!! It's kind of why I've been writing and drawing him as I have. Klaus is extremely adaptable, and YES, I remember hearing Rob talk about buying and wearing women's clothes and how that;s kind of been adapted into Klaus's wardrobe as well, an attitude that can lend itself to genderfluidity or being nonbinary.

I loved the leather pants too, man. I loved em <3

Hello hello everyone, I hope everyone has had a good holiday season so far.

I'm sorry for being so absent, things got hectic around here for a lil bit. Everyone got sick for a bit, Sadly we had to put down a few of our chickens as we believe they have a genetic default. (On the plus side, we may be getting new chicks, just not where we purchased last time.) The garden is doing rather well, I'll post updated pictures soon~

Anyways here's a lil lookie at some some of what I've been up to~ (I'm gonna be trying to post once a week again, though I can't guarantee when!)

I finally tried my hand at some tiedye. These guys were my first try, just pink.

Part of a second batch, a lil fitted crib sheet. I plan to sell the tiedye to get some seeds for the upcoming years garden.

I can't remember off hand if I talked about cheese/nugget/pies nest with eggs here, but we did not end up with any babies this round :'(

I think it was way too hot for the eggs too long. If they show interest in nesting again I'll probably let them, but only so long as it isn't in the summer. I'll take the eggs and try my hand at incubation instead and give her fake eggs mayby. I'm not yet sure how that'll work out yet, but I'll give it a try.

If anyone is interested I think I'll be sharing different ways to use various holiday leftovers in different ways as well as ways to stretch food budgets.
