Lately, I’ve been diving into a lot of web novels and manhwa, mostly manhwa, with one manhua in the mix.

While they’re still fresh in my mind, I wanted to share the ones I really enjoyed and would happily recommend. For now, it’s just a list with no particular order, but I might write separate posts later to explain why I liked each one. Hopefully, I’ll find the time to write those posts and not forget or get distracted by something else.

Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint

It is also known as Omniscient Reader (Korean: 전지적 독자 시점; RR: Jeonjijeok Dokja Sijeom) is a South Korean manhwa adapted from the web novel written by Sing Shong (싱숑), a pseudonym used by the married couple who co-authored the original novel. The manhwa adaptation is illustrated by Sleepy-C (슬리피-C) of Redice Studio.

As a struggling office worker, Kim Dokja leads an unremarkable life. His only solace lies in reading an obscure web novel, Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse, which he has loyally followed as its sole reader for 13 years. The story follows Yoo Joonghyuk, a man doomed to endlessly regress through apocalyptic scenarios for the amusement of the Constellations—powerful beings that range from mythic heroes and great sages to ancient gods—and their dokkaebi intermediaries. A calm, competent woman is always willing to make sacrifices and compromise. Though she mostly keeps to herself, she is very compassionate and attentive towards everyone, even if they aren't even consulting her.

"Interesting. I believe you are experiencing heart problems. Why are you getting so worked up? You thought I meant you're having a heart attack? No, you misunderstand. I was referring to the heart of one's soul."

A man who stays passive most of the time. He became a therapist to gain a deeper understanding of himself and others, rather than to help people. He means well, though.

5. Nnoitra Gilga: Boxer

"I fight because I love to! Why must I have any other motive to do so?"

A boxer who loves to trash-talk his opponents. In fact, he once appeared on a TV show where people roast each other, so he could feel validated.

6. Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez: Self-proclaimed King. Reality: Unemployed

"What do you think you're lookin' at?! You tryna pick a fight with me? Huh?!"

An unemployed man who picks fights with anyone he sees. He is rude and says whatever's on his mind, but he does have a set of morals that he abides by. He claims to be unemployed by choice, as he doesn't see the meaning of working.

7. Zommari Rureaux: Mixologist

"I have made it my life's mission to create and serve ecstasy with these hands of mine."

A somewhat stoic man who comes across as someone who doesn't enjoy his job, or even life, for that matter. His motives are difficult to discern, and it seems like there's more to him than meets the eye.

8. Szayelaporro Granz: Plastic Surgeon

"Oh, you don't like what I've done with your face? Doesn't matter, I do whatever fits my idea of beauty. Now pay up~"

A madman who never follows his patients' requests. He makes alterations and modifications however he sees fit, and is the kind of man who shouldn't be let near sharp tools.

9. Aaroniero Arruruerie: Actor

"I wear many faces at once; it's up to you to choose who you wish to see."

An actor so talented, it's hard to differentiate between his performances and his true self. In fact, when asked about his personality or even appearance, people's answers vary.

10. Yammy Llargo: Wrestler

"Keep comin' at me! Yeah, that's more like it!"

A wrestler who plays simply because he enjoys the game. He gets angry when people don't take him seriously (which rarely happens).

The entity will ABSOLUTELY force you into trials. You’re not staying here for free. Despite sadako’s protest, she can’t do anything to stop the entity.

But, since they do have a good relationship, the entity only throws you into about 2-4 trials a month. Be thankful a demon is obsessed with you.

Sadako doesn’t allow you to leave her little ‘demission’. She knows damn well the other killers will try some shit to you when they see you. And well, she also just wants you to herself forever, you know, yandere ghost/demon shit.

The Doctor might experiment on you, clown WILL drug you, blight will inject you with a blighted serum, and all of them would either stab or bash your skull open.

But, the entity does what the entity does. So it forces you to go to the killers and survivors camp. Killers are shocked that SADAKO of all killers, has a lover. Let alone the entity allowed you to stay.

Everytime the entity makes you go to the killers camp (or whatever hub is used for killers) sadako is ALWAYS 1 nanometers near you. She isn’t letting them touch you. Talk? Sure, but just know she hates it when you don’t give HER more attention.

Let’s break this down in some categories

Tier 1–Don’t care about you: Wesker, Nemesis, Micheal, Trapper, Wraith, Hag, Frank (Legion), Demogorgan, Pyramid Head.

Tier 2–Low interest: Julie (Legion), Freddy, Chucky, Deathslinger, Twins, Knight, Skull Merchant, Huntress, Houndmaster

Tier 3–Interested: Artist, Nurse, Susie and Joey (legion), Vecna, Dracula, Trickster, Ghostface, Kaneki, Spirit, Oni, Plauge, Pinhead.

Tier 4–Seeks to harm/kill you: Doctor, Hillbilly, Clown, Singularity, Unknown, Springtrap, Blight, Pig, Dredge, Xenomorph(s).

Those who don’t care about you, rarely interact with you.

T2 people are interested on your existence, like why’re you ON the killers hub as survivor? But they also don’t approach you much. Mostly due to the hassle that is dealing with sadako when approaching you.

T3 people are like T2 but approach you more out of interest. Could they get a person in the realm if they ask?

T4 is self explanatory.

Survivors

Now the survivors on the other hand ARENT friendly with you. Well most of them. But can you blame them?

A survivor who is the significant other of a killer, of SADAKO, isn’t gonna be liked by the survivors.

The only survivors who’re somewhat open minded are Rebecca, Kate, Nicholas Cage, Ash Williams, Vittorio, Adam, Bill, Feng, Jane, Zarina, Mikaela, Sable, and Yoichi.

The others are either passive aggressive or aggressive.

But, they do ask you to ask sadako to at least go easy on them and let them escape when she’s killer. They try to bribe you with offerings they’d usually give to the entity.

Sadako is NOT for it, at all. And neither is the entity. So even though sadako denies this fuckass request, the entity would simply erase the memory of the survivors asking you to do that once you approach sadako.

Pass times

Things you do in the realm are limited. With most of them consisting of;

Cuddling sadako, bonding with bondable killers/survivors, watching sadako’s trials, participating in trials, Act out scenarios with sadako like the good old days, and sometimes get a phone to watch videos with, by begging the entity.

The entity also would try to manipulate you into becoming a killer, while sadako would, and I mean WOULD as in WILL slowly mold/force you to became a killer.

This 'incessant assault' can even disrupt the natural order of things- even invading full Free-for-All battles!

Annie is a brown cupcake, a pink liner, pink frosting and white sprinkles on her head. She also has white freckles that resemble sprinkles. She also wears white and pink striped socks, elbow length gloves, and a pink and white striped party hat with a flame on top of it.

Personality

Annie is a party animal and a party planner! She’s an energetic, peppy, and fun-loving Toon who works hard and diligently to throw the best parties for others and make them happy. She is very sweet and considerate about others, one example being her list of potential presents to get for other’s birthdays.

However, this often hides a fear of loneliness and abandonment, for she hates being bored and alone for too long. Which can sometimes lead to stress and outbursts. Twisted Annie is a large stationary Twisted who peacefully stands in the middle of the floor. She behaves similar to Twisted Glisten in that a bar above her head will increase the longer she’s left alone and will decrease when a Toon is in her vicinity. However, unlike Glisten, her bar takes less time to fill up completely (50 seconds compared to Glisten’s 70).

When enraged, she summons flames from the ground in numerous locations of the floor. Some will be random locations on the ground, causing any Toon that touches them to lose a heart. She also creates a wall of flames to block an entryway, anyone who touches it will lose a heart. A ring of fire will also spawn around her, causing anyone who gets too close to lose a heart.

Just like Glisten, Annie will become enraged if she is left alone for too long, or when all machines are completed. There is no way to return her to her passive state once this happens.

Also like Glisten, she has dialogue, immediately talking once the floor has begun as a warning, twice as her meter rises, once when the meter is almost full, and once when she is enraged. She only speaks twice per floor, not including her dialogue when the elevator opens during Panic Mode or the dialogues when you go near her.

Annie has every Toon’s birthday memorized. As well as their favorite kind of cakes. She also has a list of gift ideas for all the Toons based on the things they like/are into.

The flame on her hat will go out when she’s sad. It also flares up when she’s angry.

Annie’s design is based on the cupcake Sprout is holding in a poster found in the Diner floors. Specifically the poster with him and Cosmo.

While she is considered a Holiday Toon. She is seen much more often compared to the Christmas Toons. When the Gardenview Center was still open, she would be brought out to celebrate the birthday of guests who made a party reservation there. She was also brought out during the month that the center opened to celebrate its anniversary.

The concept for Twisted Annie is based on the idea of no one showing up to your own birthday party.

Whats the plot beat in homestuck you find most frustrating? For me its the concept that adding Vriska to the meteor Actually Fixed Every Problem Without Introducing Any New Ones but im curious about your take

that’s a really good one, it genuinely is really frustrating especially on the aspect of like. terezi as a character. it feels kind of fucked that her game over timeline self worth issues (which revolved around “oh my god i’m the worst, everything is awful because of me, i’m horrible for killing vriska, the only thing that would possibly fix this is vriska”) are basically validated because…. she undos everything to bring vriska back (which IS genuinely cool and i DID want vriska back so i’m not like. HATING hating) and then bringing vriska back literally immediately fixes every issue, as you said. it feels a little frustrating to me that her self hatred is basically just like, completely validated

as for other plot bits i personally dont like. uhhh the retcon as a whole honestly, like its COOL and its INTERESTING its just not personally my cup of tea and i would have preferred something different. and a lot of act 6 characterization i’m not a big fan of ESPECIALLY rose. like dear god rose in act 6. to be fair its been a while since i really worked through that whole act but like.

the passiveness which is supposed to be a reflection of her god tier or whatever, i just really do not like it. the alcoholism and the relationship issues with kanaya i have no problem with— those were interesting character conflicts. but when shes actually “better”… her being delegated to like. Reading Books and Planning is so frustrating when she was like the most volatile player beforehand. and i get that shes supposed to have “learned her lesson” after going grim dark but like… SHE WAS LITERALLY RIGHT. LOL. she was right to be breaking sburb because sburb actually IS a horrifying eldritch thing that is controlling and containing them! the fact that rose does a full 180 from trying to blow the game apart to, in the very last flash, happily smiling at their new game-made world that has “THANKS FOR PLAYING” stamped on it?? like hell no. FUCK no. it’s creepy. i am the #1 sburb hater. they are still trapped in sburb!!! they didn’t ESCAPE anything, they won the game on the game’s own terms, and now sburb is ready to continue itself on earth C next so the stupid cycle can go on forever. kind of frustrating for a comic that has so many themes of breaking abusive cycles imo

Sure why not! I don't think I'll make a tier list as all the units are useful for some function in battle so I will instead list every unit and describe what I think of them in combat.

Spoilers for post 100 days

Takumi: A good all-arounder for horizontal and vertical sweeps and one powerful strike. His special attack was already good but when it got the blue upgrade it became even better.

Takemaru: Early battles, he's good for killing small enemies but late in the game when I have more units to kill small enemies, I stopped relaying on Takemaru for small fry kills. I only use him for his "Eat This!" attack as it's strong and his special attack is great for clearing row of baddies, but that's all i use him for. I unlocked "Put 'Em Up!" But I never used it once because I thought the enrage buff was not helpful.

Hiruko: I love her in the story and I love her in combat. Her Specialist Skill is godly. Just use a spring trap, launch her into the middle of a scrap and have her clean house. No wonder Eito got rid of her. The first 100 days would have been to easy otherwise. Eito did it for game balances purposes, how nice of him.

Darumi: To be honest, I'm not a Darumi master in combat. She is a tricky character to use as her attacks are weak so she's really best with small fry, but her Specialist Skill does provide for some extra damage, so you have to plan with Darumi. I do love her animations and voice lines and everything about her. "It's Killing Game Time!" Iconic.

Eito: My replacement for Hiruko as the power character. Judge, Jury and Executioner are all really good attacks and the square size his Special Attack has is so good. His Specialist Skill tho I can give or take. Sometimes it's helpful in a cinch but most of the time it doesn't do much.

Tsubasa: "Locked and loaded!" I love it when she says that. I wish people didn't underestimate Tsubasa just because her attack is 1. The 2x6 range is really freaking good. She can kill many small fry and giving her an attack boost, she can take down larger enemies really fast. Plus her immunity to fatigue is soooooo good, it's almost OP. She was MVP for the Egg Commander fight. I don't really use her Deadlights and Accelerate move much.

That actually applies to all other units attack buffing skills. I never really use them for my allies, i prefer using items and Boosts for that.

Gaku: ...I don't like him. The range of his main weapon is at such an awkward shape. It's not a square, it's this triangle thing and I can never get more then 3 enemies in that range. Plus it's weak, Tsubasa can kill more enemies than Gaku can due to how enemies move on the field. Also I hate the checkerboard range of his special attack, I can never get a good formation of enemies that has lots of them in those squares. He just kinda sucks. At least his Vertical attack is ok.

Ima: Special Misconduct. Unyielding Spirit. Those two passives can make Ima into a POWERHOUSE. Add in his good range of attacks and high mobility, he is a damn good combat unit. Shame his Special Attack range is kinda small.

Kako: The sniper, a powerful long range attack, drone strike an even a close range nuke, Kako is a great combat unit. There's just one small problem with her. Her fucking attack debuff. I hate that debuff so much, why does it exist? Would she have been overpowered if she didn't have it? I don't think so? I also don't like her special attack range. I barely use it.

Shouma: The short king of killing small fry. That is all to him but he does such a damn good job at it that that is all he needs. But wait! He gets more! His Omega Punch is super strong thanks to his Specialist Skill and if you have Nozomi near him to heal his stuns, he is a monster. AND THE RANGE OF HIS SPECIAL ATTACK? That is hands down the best special attack in the game. Takumi's is stronger yes, but the range Shouma's gives it a massive leg up.

Nozomi: A healer who can kick some ass. Her Paralyze Bullet is surprisingly really good at sniping enemies and keeping stronger enemies from attacking. (She's a better long ranger attack than Kako is tbh.) Plus her healing. Like, that is very good no question. I only go on explorations during free time when I have Nozomi with me. I need her healing to deal with the rng bs that mode has. I do hate when the story at points prevents me from using Nozomi but that's not related to her combat abilities.

Oosuzuki: She...kinda sucks lol. Her mobility is very good but I don't send her out to kill enemies, it be pointless to as Oosuzuki's base healing Specialist Skill and turrets encourages you to keep her at the generator. Her attack is useful in a pinch but nothing special. I hate the small range of her turrets and wished they could hit more enemies. And her Special Attack? Ha ha...worst one in the game. it is garbage. three bombs in a row that do the same damage as a normal bomb and you need an enemy to detonate it. And the ai in this game is very annoying when it comes to bombs. You have to put it in the right spot or else they will walk right past it. If it wasn't for base healing, Oosuzuki would be near worthless in battle.

Kyoshika: Glory to Kyoshika.

Yugamu: He's ok. Good for killing groups of enemies and sometimes large threats but you need to use a bit more AP than normal to get him going. Without Darumi and Eito, his Special Attack has some great range so I always use him to clear large groups.

Moko: Just like with Shouma's Omega punch, pair Moko Shooter with Nozomi's heal and you have quite a powerhouse. I wish she had a bigger range with her main attack but it can get the job done fine. My only issue with Moko is her Mokomania. I get that they want me to set it up like how Shouma does his attack, but Shouma has a move that attracts enemies to him while Moko doesn't. I have to find a position where I can guarantee that enemies will attack her and not just walk past her to the generator. Also, it's really annoying how Mokomania can add reflet, +2 armor and +1 attack but it still leaves you fatigued. You have to use an agility item or waste AP to reap that +1 attack boost. So yeah, Moko is good in combat but she is not my fav, I'll take Hiruko over her if I had to choose.

Eva: ...Ugh. Putting aside the whole brainwashed slave plot, (a fucking wild thing to say) I find her pretty good in combat. Her Specialist Skill is really good and easy to abuse and the range of her attacks are amazing. Her Special Attack I'm eh about but her kit overall is very solid. I do feel very VERY guilt and uncomfortable that she is this strong and I can use her in combat. Like...She was just...Ugh. What the fuck is this game.

The Wife Bit Ch. 2

(here are the receipts @earthtigerart lol. Its taking awhile to edit the discord threads so i guess this is becoming a chaptered thing)

A ping from Lust's new channel drew my eye lights towards my phone. Bored, I scrolled through. Seems as though Lust was showing off a new outfit. Error being Error passive aggressively snarks that it's nothing special. This elicits an amusing response from Lust, the confident monster offhandedly calling Error princess. I chuckle at the banter, continuing to scroll down the conversation to fight off my constant boredom. Ink, as per usual, gets all huffy at anyone outside their harem complementing Error. Little did we all know this would start a chain of dramatic events.

My grin stretched as I could already smell the drama that was about to unfold. No doubt Error and Ink were about to play the same old tune, and I was more then willing to play along.

I cackled in my glee, kicking my legs a bit in my excitement as I lay in bed reading the texts. Error was always so reliable when it came to entertaining me. Oh, and by the looks of things he was getting mad~.

Eyelights shining brightly as my smile grew I continued to read and fuel the fire when needed.

MWEH HEH HEH!!! Oh, Lust you wanted the tea, and, well, you're certainly getting that tea! I'm surprised at this turn of events, but that makes it all the more delicious. Not only did I (allegedly) break up their marriage once, but Twice! And a bitch am I? Heh heh heh. I suppose that's a world you could use to describe me my colorful scattered brained friend. And oh Error, Haunts? It's as if I'm a shining star in your head. What an honor.

I chuckle more to myself, deciding to get comfortable and see where this goes.

I snort aloud, bring a hand to my mouth, but not really caring if I disturb my roommates. My amusement for this bit is simply to grand and pure to be contained. Quite literally the other day the two had been buddy buddy, Ink fending off my advances on Error as per usual. Hissing and batting at me like the feral cat they are. And now the two's relationship is crumbling away.

*sigh* If only I had popcorn to watch with the fire.

Oh? Favoritism in the harem is their? Thank you for that scrumptious little tid bit Dream, my shiny golden fellow. And my my, so cold Error. Poor pathetic Ink is sick and home alone and you care not if they die? Well! If that isn't top tier drama I don't know what is!

My cheeks hurt from how wide and long I'd been smiling, but I cared not as I continue to argue with Error. Relishing in the attention I was receiving.

My smile darkens a bit at Error's declaration. While I shall willingly admit (at least to myself and all of you) that I perchance took advantage of an opportune time that just so happened to be the previous recent break up, I had all the intentions of staying had it been worth while. It however was not. Long are the poems now lost, buried under a year and a half of messages, but the effort was real. I had put great thought into my poems in hopes of cheering and wooing Error. But what I had received in return was... unsatisfactory. And now because I had dumped Error shortly after I had dated them I'm forever spurned by the two. How... IrRiTaTiNg!1

Gritting my teeth, I prepare for the verbal onslaught I know is to come.
