11. what do they have in common with you? how are they different? would you get along with them?
for Eldwin?
Thanks for the ask!
From this ask game
Well, unfortunately for Eldwin he is my favourite to project onto. We are both very stiff and reserved, although he doesn't have the internet to overshare on like me :P We both have a lot of siblings, and neither of us had a great education because I need that representation in my life haha. Although, had he the opportunity he would be smarter than me... We have a lot of little habits in common, although I try to share my projections on all my ocs.
Oh he also loves cats, that we have in common. Most of my ocs do.
I, however, have a lot more self-preservation than he does. He is far more self-sacrificial than I. I also tend to think through everything I do to the point of severe overthinking more than he does. Oh, I'm also nicer than he is, at least I hope! I have my flaws, but he can, purposefully, be a real bitch sometimes.
I think we would get along okay just because we both like to keep to ourselves XD We'd be each others ideal roommate honestly. We're both quite happy to sit in silence, we just want an easy life, and we're both animal lovers. Yeah, we'd do just fine.

@tildeathiwillwrite continuing directly off this snippet!
"Great," Han Sooyoung said perfunctorily. "Good to know."
He didn't particularly want to know this information, actually!
"It was a very detailed scene," Kim Dokja said, inexplicably still willing to talk on this topic. "The author spent an entire chapter on it. At the time, I was really surprised. It seemed strange, spending so page-time in a completely irrelevant cave. I almost thought they wanted to change the genre of the entire story."
Was Han Sooyoung really getting Kim Dokja's opinion about how the novel depicted Yoo Joonghyuk's love life? Sure, it might be fun throwing it in that man's face later, but there was still a limit to how willing Han Sooyoung was to discuss this sort of thing. 'A very detailed scene' -- that was already too much information about what Yoo Joonghyuk was doing with Lee Seolhwa.
Wait.
"A cave," Han Sooyoung repeated. "This cave?"
Kim Dokja shrugged.

1) Which religion/spiritual path do you identify with?
6) Do you have lots of religious paraphernalia?
8) What is your favourite passage from your sacred text, if you have one?
Thank you for the asks!
I am a Christian! Anything more specific than that I'm still in the process of discerning--I converted three years ago, found and was baptized in a local Episcopal church, currently attend both that church and a non-denominational but vaguely charismatic church (deeply involved with both communities), and am investigating Catholicism. If anyone asks, though, I'm a Christian, and I don't necessarily want to get more specific than that at this time.
6. Not really! That said, here's a list:
("Not really," I said in my foolishness. List and remaining answer below the cut.)
The HarperCollins study bible, New Revised Standard Version, fully revised and updated, including apocryphal deuterocanonical books, with concordance. Paperback, still somehow the heaviest book I own. Used to be my mom's. Affectionately referred to as the Holy Brick
The Oxford Annotated Bible, Revised Standard Version, college edition. Printed in 1962, came into my possession because one of my mom's friends was clearing out their office. Very seldom taken off the shelf
(Side note: I need to get a physical Bible I can actually carry around with me at some point, but I haven't done that yet)
The Book of Common Prayer (Episcopal prayer book containing various prayers and liturgical instructions), 1979 edition
My baptismal certificate, a ceremonial candle I was given on that occasion, and a copy of the bulletin from the service at which I was baptized (Easter vigil 2022)
The tiny metal cross necklace I received as a baptism present from my baptismal sponsor (basically my godmother, but we don't call her that because I was baptized as an adult), which I wore almost every day until the chain broke in a tragic hairbrushing accident a few months ago
A larger metal cross charm with wings emerging from it, which I purchased as part of a beaded necklace from a street vendor--the necklace unfortunately did not last, but I'm still attempting to find a chain for the charm that will actually hold up, because that charm is awesome
A prayer shawl knitted and blessed for healing by members of the healing prayer ministry at my Episcopal church, which lives on my bed as part of my blankets and which I have been known to wrap around my head during migraines
A slip of paper bearing Psalm 138:3, which in the selected translation (the paper doesn't specify, and I haven't been able to track it down in cursory investigation) reads "When I asked for your help, you answered my prayer and gave me courage." Offered to me by the aforementioned healing prayer ministry on a day shortly after I began working as a caregiver when I desperately needed it and now lives in my wallet at all times
A pocket icon of Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha. Given to me by @dragonsthough101, who is not Christian but found it in a shop somewhere and thought I would like it
A small blue plastic and fabric folding thing that snaps closed and contains various Catholic imagery (mostly Marian, some crucified Jesus and sacred heart, a short prayer in Spanish, and a tiny medal that's honestly too small for me to identify who or what it depicts). Given to me by my sister, who is not Christian but found it in a shop somewhere and thought I would like it
The Moth of the Holy Spirit, a plushie moth purchased for me by @annamariehamilton-unofficial to celebrate my first public act of prophetic prayer (long story, makes more sense in context)
Yeah. That's more than I thought lol. And it's not even counting religious books that are not in and of themselves sacred or liturgical. Oops.
8. Wow, that's difficult! There are so many passages from Scripture that mean so much to me, but right now, I'm gonna have to go with Psalm 139. Particularly verses 7-10: "Where can I go from your spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast." (NIV)
Thank you again for the asks, friend! Anyone who's still reading this, feel free to send me asks yourself, from this list or just if you have any questions about any of this! You're also welcome to message me if you'd like to talk at greater length! Have a lovely day!

❄️ Snow - Who is your coldest / most stoic character and how do they express themselves (if at all)?
☀️ Sun - What's your favorite part of your WIP?
☁️ Cloudy - What inspired you to start writing your WIP? (or in general)
Finally getting around to these--thank you for the ask! As usual, it's long, so putting this under a cut:
Snow - Who is your coldest / most stoic character and how do they express themselves (if at all)?
That would be Mike. He does express emotions in various ways, but neither his emotions nor his methods of expressing them tend to make much sense to people who are not him, especially if those people don't already know him well. Those who do know him well know that his facial expressions are much less reliable indicators than his clothing, body language, and speech patterns--when he's uncomfortable, he puts on more layers or buttons or zips the ones he has on to cover up as much as possible, relies more heavily on scripted sentences to speak or stops talking altogether, looks around compulsively as if checking for threats or escape routes, or just Vasts himself out of the situation altogether. If he's comfortable, he'll take off his jacket, unbutton his collar, be more willing to speak in single words or choppy sentences or use sign language as long as he's getting the point across, keep his attention on things for longer without needing to scan the area for threats, and generally seem more present.
Sun - What's your favorite part of your WIP?
I have SO many favorite parts of my WIP, but right now two things are coming to mind.
The first is the final scene of chapter 5, which includes a compilation of interwoven flashbacks from Jon's time as a captive of the Circus of the Other and Helen Richardson's second time in the corridors of the Distortion that culminates in Helen Richardson seeing Jon as a hopeless, defeated prisoner, choosing to try to help him even at the cost of her own life, and melding into her own prison as a result, leading to Distortion Helen coming into existence and rescuing Jon but also destroying both of the people that Helen used to be. I think I did a good job both showing the parallels between the respective situations and creating a sense of disorientation without leaving my readers totally lost, and I'm proud of that.
The second is a scene from chapter 11, where Harriet voluntarily offers Jon a statement and ends up telling him about Robert Kelly, a young man she befriended, slept with, tried to recruit into the service of the Vast through trickery, and ultimately murdered in a fit of grief and anger when her plan failed. I'm particularly proud of this one because I had a delicate balance to strike--Harriet's actions were genuinely horrible even by her own sometimes bizarre moral standards, and I didn't want to gloss over or excuse that, but I also didn't want my readers to lose sympathy. In the immortal words of @runarelle, the ways being an avatar fucks with you are many and complex. Harriet thought she meant well, she truly didn't mean to hurt Robert (at least, she didn't intend to harm him in any way she didn't think he'd agree was worth it) except for that one moment, and the guilt and remorse have been tearing her up inside for the past fifteen years, but she still did it, still lied to and betrayed and killed someone who loved and trusted her for literal years. She made a horrible, horrible mistake, she knows and readily acknowledges that, and she has learned from it and changed the way she interacts with humans so as never to do something like that again--and she still kills people, even if it's not as often as she lets her avatar friends and family assume. She's a messed-up person living in a messed-up world, and so are we, even if it's not as obvious. This part in particular is, I believe, one of the best things I've ever written:
Jon smiled at her, then picked up his mug and took a sip of tea.
Harriet wiped her face one more time, blew her nose, and set her handkerchief on her lap, then followed suit with her own mug, grimacing as her tea was contaminated by a bit of snot she'd failed to completely remove from her upper lip.
Jon looked at her, this dangerous, terrifying predator with blood on her hands and a smile full of teeth, this playful, caring friend who routinely risked her life reaching out to new avatars she didn't even know, this loyal and devoted acolyte of eternity and family member to her fellows, this manipulative schemer who'd betrayed and killed someone who had loved and trusted her, this grieving woman sitting on a sofa she'd bought for a friend and helped move into his new apartment after she called in multiple favors to help him escape a horrible situation while he’d still been a complete stranger to her, just because she'd wanted to help. The kindest and the cruelest of the little group who'd assembled to help Jon escape, holding a star-filled sky in her hands and a snot-soaked handkerchief in her lap, waiting with red, puffy eyes and a mug of hot tea that was nearly a quarter honey to find out if Jon would think less of her now that he knew the details of what she believed wasn't even the worst thing she'd ever done.
Jon saw Harriet—the good, the bad, and the ugly; as she was and as she had been; the faults she was ashamed of, those she couldn't grasp, and those she couldn't face; her greatest triumphs and most brutal failures—and he loved her, fully and unshakably.
Erica (Erica's predecessor, technically) had been right. At this exact moment, Knowing so deeply was an honor and a privilege, one Jon was sincerely grateful for. One that led to love as inexorably and forcefully as a rainstorm in a desert led to a flash flood.
Cloudy - What inspired you to start writing your WIP? (or in general)
I've talked about the convoluted inspiration train of AWOHO on this blog before (see here, here, here, and here), so this time I'll talk about what inspired me to start writing in general--or, more accurately, what inspired me to start posting my writing. I've been writing stories (sometimes thinly veiled fanfiction, before I knew that fanfiction was a thing) since I was very young, but the first fanfics I wrote and the reason I made a ff.net and then an AO3 account were prompts from my sister, who had read some of my stories and asked me if I could write specific things. She's also the person who pulled up the first fanfic I ever read on my phone, shoved it into my hands, and said "you need to read this," so... yeah. You all have her to thank for me being here.

🎨 | their favourite activity to do together
for Peg x Liliana?
Yeeee thanks for the ask!
They overall like doing simple, chill activities together. Peg doesn't really like having to deal with going out and interacting with people, and Liliana is fine with that, so they spend most of their time at home. Their favorite thing to do is cuddle (and kiss 😏). But other things they like to do together are taking walks in the garden behind the house or taking turns playing the piano and singing.

😖 CONFOUNDED FACE — is your oc an introvert, an extrovert, or an ambivert? do they let people in easily, or are they more reserved?
🧐 FACE WITH MONOCLE — is your oc more logical or emotional?
(for Destrian?)
Thanks for the ask!
From this ask game
😖 CONFOUNDED FACE — is your oc an introvert, an extrovert, or an ambivert? do they let people in easily, or are they more reserved?
More of an ambivert. There's no consistency in how they want to engage with people, it's very much dependant on how they're feeling generally.
They are far too easy-going when it comes to letting people in. They won't just dump it on you out of nowhere but if you ask, they don't mind obliging. That's how to want people to be with letting them too; it goes both way, and life is so much easier when we all talk to each other!
🧐 FACE WITH MONOCLE — is your oc more logical or emotional?
He tries to be logical. He often fails. He's very much 'act first, think later' and is prone to an emotional response. Which, isn't always a good thing.

@tildeathiwillwrite said,
Jay in Minecraft, pls! :D
Or, actually, they do have some bones from fighting skeletons last night… they could make some bonemeal and hurry things along a bit. Jay gets the bones out, and turns them into bonemeal. Honestly, they could really get used to how easy it is to turn things into other things in minecraft. They didn't have to grind the bones up or anything, just hold them and expect them to become bonemeal, and it only took a couple seconds.

WIP Wednesday Sentences
From my January 8th post here; Paired Bands for @eriquin and @tildeathiwillwrite, thanks!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was just like Kei’s, down to the last sharp little spiral. ‟You didn’t just find this, did you?” Sho asked as Kei began to pick his braids apart with quick, clever fingers. ‟It’s just like your ring.” ‟Which you don’t wear.” Kei said idly. ‟What, your rings?” Sho teased, reaching up and catching Kei’s fingers, twisting to kiss the side of his hand. ‟No, I don’t.” He squeezed Kei’s hand - rather smaller than his own, and hadn’t that been a strange adjustment; almost more than growing taller than Kei had.
