Tim Garland - Moment Of Departure - jazz + folk + classical (an orchestra & a Vivaldi interpretation) in that British jazz tradition that is almost-but-not-quite prog rock
Seeing a photograph of a base-jumper take that first step off the cliff edge, that ultimately defining moment of departure, I thought about how we dive into the fresh unknown as improvisors, leaving the solid ground of what has been composed, the familiar. For me, it is an intoxicating, vital feeling, demanding a quick-fire aliveness. It is at once the most free and also the most disciplined I can be. The music in this collection is a free-dive into the music-making I find my heart most drawn to, along with fellow travellers on this path, Asaf and Gwilym. I have found the artwork of Esra Kizir Gokcen particularly inspiring, due to the bold use of improvised beginnings and free-flowing forms, underpinned by a rigorous technique. In my music, I prize rapport with those around me a great deal, for it buoys us up on our musical journey of trust and risk, putting wind in our sails. For me, composition is far from just a platform from which to jump into improvisation and the classical music of my upbringing, especially that of the string orchestra, feels like home to me. "And summer, that keeps returning like a ghost Of something death has merely made beautiful." From Autumn, by Philip Larkin Tim Garland - conductor, soprano & tenor saxes, bass clarinet Gwilym Simcock - piano Asaf Sirkis - drums & percussion Thomas Gould - violin soloist Yazz Ahmed - flugelhorn on Sub Vita ‘The Forever Seed’ features: The Strings of The London Studio Orchestra John Mills - leader Rob Millett - cimbalom All music composed by Tim Garland - except ‘Approaching Winter’ based on ‘Winter’ composed by Antonio Vivaldi and ‘Moment Of Departure’ which is based on spontaneous solo improvisations by the members of The Lighthouse Trio. Britten Sinfonia recorded at School Farm Studios engineered by Stefano Civetta Original artwork by Esra Kizir Gokcen

So excited to vote for a real LGBTQ ally in November!
Tumblr media
(Context: Judy Garland was born in Minnesota and a museum there dedicated to her is trying to raise the funds to buy a pair of ruby slippers that were famously stolen from them while on loan, and Walz convinced the legislature to appropriate some funds for the cause.)
Unironically, props from iconic films should treated like important cultural artifacts on par with famous paintings or sculptures, and more politicians should prioritize keeping them accessible to the public rather than hidden away in some billionaire fanboy's mansion.

am I talking about Alice in Wonderland (2010) or The Wizard of Oz (1939)?

How is he crying racism after saying there is no racism in Amerikkka? And how is he so shocked that they weren’t really going to let him he POTUS? Then using no wife or GF as an excuse to stop him, is because he’s no longer useful to them.

mistletoe mishaps - j.t x fem!reader
posted dec 2nd, 2023 11:47 am
Anon asked: HII!! Happy holidays! I was wondering if I could request Jason Todd with the prompt “reader has been caught up in the stresses of the holiday, character has been spending the day trying to get them under the mistletoe” Thank you!! 😊
here you are my love! thank u for requesting :D happy holidays!!!
masterlist
wordcount: 0.9k
Tumblr media
“Are you sure you don’t want any help with that?” Jason asked for the third time in the last 20 minutes, a mixed look of confusion and concern on his face as he watched you try to untangle Christmas lights.
With a sigh you shook your head no, despite probably needing his help, he had just been shot in his side a few days prior. Finally complying with your request that the Red Hood take the next few days off, an early christmas present for his girl is what Jason was calling it.
Besides, you were too stubborn to accept the help you had so confidently denied needing to begin with.
so now you were left to untangle lights, make family/friends present lists and unpack boxes of Christmas decorations all on your own.
Although getting out the boxes was something Jason insisted on helping you with despite your efforts to stop him.
Deciding to give up on the lights for now, you abandoned them, tossing them aside somewhere near the tree box and pulling your notepad into your lap, resuming your list of present ideas.
“What are you getting Bruce?” You asked, not looking up from the book as you wrote down some ideas for Dick and Tim. “Hell if I know” Jason shrugged, chuckling to himself as you urgently wrote things down, both of you knowing you’d hate yourself for the messy writing later on.
“What do you even get for someone who has everything?” “Plus the batmobile” Jason added, earning an exaggerated groan from your lips in response.
“Oh my god, I’m forgetting something” You sat up, eyeing all the boxes in front of you before standing up, discarding the notepad on the couch by Jason. “What are we missin’ babe?” Jason flipped through channels on the TV, knowing he’d probably get scolded for trying to help as you searched through the boxes.
“Mistletoe!”
you ignored the way Jason’s eyes lit up with an idea, opening another box. “I’ll go get you some, okay? it’s an easy errand for me to run, and you’ll have one less thing to do.” Jason explained, standing from the couch and pulling on one of his discarded hoodies that littered your apartment. You reluctantly agreed, sending your boyfriend off with a quick kiss and instructions on what kind to get, and then he was out the door, and you were left with the mess surrounding you. With no idea where to even start.
After what felt like ages but was really only an hour, you heard the front door open as you set a snowman cookie jar on your counter. Jason was only partially surprised at how the apartment had barely changed when he was gone but he also didn’t really care as all he had in mind was the mistletoe in the small paper bag.
“Hey, Jay. Do you think that garland by the door looks dumb?” You asked, mindlessly taking the bag, setting it on the counter unbeknownst of the small extra mistletoe in his hands.
“It looks good, babe, you’re doin’ a good job.” Jason shrugged, softly grabbing hold of the soft material covering your shoulder, effortlessly spinning you around, and holding the mistletoe over your heads. You gasped, taking note of the grin on your boyfriend's face but not noticing the way it dropped when you reached up and took it from his hands. “Awh, you got extra? thank you, love.” You smiled at him appreciatively before turning back around and taking off, careful to not trip on any boxes as you worked away in the living room, leaving a rather flustered Jason behind.
Jason shook his head, disbelief covering his face as he turned to follow you but opted out of that when he came up with a plan B.
The eerie silence from Jason concerned you far later than it should have when you tilted your head as if to listen better just as a painful groan exited your boyfriend’s mouth. Instantly you ditched the tree ornaments finding Jason clutching his side as he leaned against the counter, mistletoe now attached to the entrance of the kitchen. Sneaky Bastard
“Jason, I told you not to help!” You said, worriedly removing your boyfriend’s hand from his waist and lifting his hoodie to check if the bandage was bloody and for any hints of stitches ripping.
“I’m okay” Jason huffed out, setting his hand on your shoulder as if the counter didn’t provide enough support. You sighed, looking up at him with worried eyes before taking his hands and leading him into the living room, with no arguments from Jason when you sat next to him on the couch.
Feeling his arm snake around your shoulder, this time you decided to just breathe as you leaned into his good side, examining the mess of your apartment before seeing Jason grab something from the side table in your peripheral view.
“What is that?” You asked, curiously, and as if on cue he held out the small extra mistletoe. You gasped quietly at yourself in realization. “Oh my god, I’m sorry, Jay, I didn’t even realize. I’m so dumb” You covered your face with your hands while rambling, earning a laugh from Jason, followed by a kiss on your hair.
“C’mon, doll, let me see you” he smiled at the sight of your face, now holding the mistletoe just slightly above your heads.
Jason palmed the mistletoe, still holding it in his hand when he hooked his finger under your chin to place his lips exactly where they belong
on yours, of course.

@itisonlyeyes your henna design has made me think about jmart south Asian wedding and I'm Not Ok
Jon in a beautifully gorgeous deep green, bedazzled kurta/lehenga hybrid so like slightly more masculine kurta with some small, neat embroidery on the edges with a flowy huge lehenga skirt
He didn't go for the dupatta/orna/scarf cause hes still not great with potential restrictions of movement
He's all decked out in the bridal jewellery - my man is wearing the Biggest silver earrings, he's got the massive fake nose piercing that connects to his hair and hes SLAYING. (Maybe his grandma passed them down??)
You bet he's got that brooding bridal look down!! Although he sees Martin and he cannot keep it up for the life of him he's just a smiling mess
There's no loud music. (I know I'm sorry but it's them, the music is simple and meaningful and the guest list is small so its not quite the usual south Asian wedding but they enjoy themselves)
Martin is dressed very smartly in a light blue kurta, with billowing embroidery etching it's down up the kurta's sleeves and following in henna down his hands
He'd wearing light blue nail polish to match and his hair is dyed the same colour at the edges
I like the idea of Jon and martin sitting down and talking about what they wanted and coming up with the rituals not cause of the religious or cultural significance but because of what it meant to them specifically.
Like they do vows cause Martin has always loved that part of weddings and let's be honest, he just wants a chance to say nice things about Jon without him protesting and Jon agrees cause of literally the same reason (they're not good at compliments)
They do the turns around the fire but they hold hands instead of being tied to each other cause they feel like it represents how they chose each other and they do 15 turns cause it's Martin's lucky number (they first met on the 15th October 2015)
They skip the haldi cause sensory issues
They instead get everyone to make their own flower garlands and give them to each other and obviously Jon and Martin make each others flower garlands and Jon mostly agrees to it cause Martin seemed enthusiastic about it and he did want to keep the giving each other flower garland ritual but he gets the Most Excited about it in the end cause hes super detail oriented about his, making sure each flower is specifically positioned how he wants it to and Martin's going off just vibes. They must be the correct vibes but vibes nonetheless.
I love the idea of doing the bride's side has to steal the grooms shoes and the grooms side has to stop this from happening so we can get Shenanigans (Tim is the most intense about this. Gerry comes a close second. Sasha wins though.)
There aren't so much sides, cause everyone's friends with both, which makes the shoe game even more intense cause you never know when people will swap sides.
Gerry does their henna. He just gives off good at drawing vibes I dunno.

Practice 1:
Assignment 2, Concept Art - Human and "Inhuman"
. Blog post 02
Here are some sketch analyses based on the interesting design points summarised in the previous blog.
A.Making the human organism grow like a plant
Tumblr media
B.Integration of diverse organisms
Tumblr media
C.Use of shape language
Tumblr media
D.The human figure and the Uncanny valley
Transformation process between human and inhuman
Tumblr media
I'll be applying these interesting design points to my concept design.
My final design was inspired by the horrific creatures of the Cthulhu novel "The Shadow over Innsmouth" that were mutated by the local humans. These creatures are a combination of human and sea life.
My character has a graphic representation of the letter D, emphasising the tension of the character, with the two main design centres being the shoulders and the head, next to which I have placed directional 'octopus tentacles'.
shape language:
Tumblr media
The character's toes are  tangled together, giving it a twisted and awkward look.
final:

This is all for now, thanks for reading.

I used House Flipper 2 to create a bathroom shrine to Chilchuck. Whatever digital buyer acquired this home will enjoy stunning neighborhood views and the unending joys of Chilchuck Tims while showering.
This is certainly a thing most normal and sane people do, right?

Peppermint Bark | Tim Drake
✦ pairing — Tim Drake x female!Plus Size Reader
✦ word count — 800-ish
✦ request — Hi honey! For the Christmas fics, can I request something with Tim Drake? He has a crush on Y/N but is too shy to confess. Y/N’s at her aunts house and Tim goes to wish her a Happy Holydays and they end up under the mistletoe
✦ warnings — mentions of food (candies, mostly), kissing, fluff.
════════════════════════
You made your way to the front door with more annoyance than you should have been feeling while making holiday candy.
Making candies and baking cookies with your aunt was the highlight of the holiday season for you. She liked giving goodies away to neighbors and friends.
She miscalculated this year, though, and had to make a quick run to the grocery store which left you watching a cake in the oven —for cake pops— and having to clean up all the mess.
You even started with the first batch of peppermint bark!
So you opened the door mildly annoyed but immediately forgot about it when Tim Drake smiled at you.
“Tim!” You had expected a bothersome salesman or a package for your aunt. It wouldn't have been the first one of the latter that day.
Boy-ish as ever, he scratched the back of his head. “Almost thought no one was home.”
“Sorry, I— You wanna come in?”
He nodded. Before crossing the doorway, he handed you a box of chocolates wrapped in a floppy bow as though he had tied the bow himself. “You always liked these… Right?”
“Yes, I’ve always liked these,” you assured him.
Tim let out a relieved sigh, head lightly thrown back and shoulders dropping. Immediately, he perked up. Still, he didn’t come in. His eyes were fixed on the upper part of the door.
Worried a dangerous animal was creeping around your aunt’s garland, you looked up too. There was mistletoe on the doorframe. You didn’t know your aunt had bought mistletoe, much less knew she had hung it on the front door — was she trying to finally make a move on her new pretty neighbor?
You tried to say something, make this less awkward. The two of you must have looked like idiots blocking the entrance to your aunt’s house, looking up at the —now obvious to your nose— fresh mistletoe. Words abandoned you this time, and words rarely came out of Tim first so it was either you or the wind that would come up with anything.
The wind was slow this time. You wished it hadn’t. The only thing you could say was, “Oh, mistletoe.”
As if he hadn’t seen it first.
Making matters worse, Tim stammered, “We, we don’t have to…”
You panicked. You really wanted to. Honestly, you had been waiting months for him to make the first move and it was painfully clear he wouldn’t if you didn’t give him a nudge. So you forced words to come out, “It's tradition, isn't it?”
His gaze fell on you. His cheeks turned pink as he processed your words, but seemingly in the same state of mind as you, he nodded. “Yeah. Some traditions need to be kept, of course.”
You giddily smiled before you could stop yourself from looking too eager. It was all the encouragement he needed.
Tim cupped your cheeks in both hands, cradling your face as he brushed his lips against yours. Something stirred within you, and although conscious that it was supposed to be a small peck, you once again took the role of the bold one and pressed your lips more firmly against his. He welcomed them.
You rested your free hand on his arm, holding the chocolates in the other one, and felt his nose nudge yours in an attempt to kiss you better. Leave it to him to know how you liked to be kissed after a few seconds of contact.
Before any of your aunt’s neighbors saw, or complained about the two idiots kissing on a doorway in the middle of the afternoon, you parted. “Uhm, I need to check the cake,” you blurted, just now remembering the oven was on.
“You’re baking?”
“We’re making candy and all that stuff. Come, I’ll give you some peppermint bark and truffles.”
Tim followed you inside, taking in all the decorations your aunt put up. The tree was huge, with ornaments of different sizes in red, green, and gold — small teddy bears in flannels covered the spaces between spheres and handmade ornaments with the names of family members and friends. He smiled upon seeing the Christmas village on the coffee table and quickly reached the kitchen where you were already taking the cake pans out.
“Just in time?” he asked.
“Yeah. I’m getting the hang of this, I think.”
Tim watched your hands, almost entranced, as you prepared a box of candies for him. First, you laid the paper, then carefully placed the candy in stacks. You added a couple of the test cookies you had made just for good measure.
You tied a bow on the closed box and handed it to him. “Here. I hope you like them.”
“I…” He laughed. “Would you like to get coffee sometime? One day you’re not making candy, I guess…”
“I thought you would never ask.”
He finally took the box in his hands. His eyes twinkled as he asked, “Is that a yes?”
“Yes, Tim. I would love to.”

HI! OMG DIDN'T EXPECT THIS BUT YEAH I HAVE A FEW ALSO I LOVE U TOO
• jmart both get rings and both get a mangalsutra because i love symbolism sm. also its customised. idk exactly into what but its upto interpretation
• i feel like they dont invite lonelyeyes but they show up anyway and do nothing except judge What's Happining like those aunties ykow the ones who show up just for the food and gossip about everyone and their mothers
• in weddings its rlly common for the groom's and bride's friends and family to playfully lift them up higher so its hard for the other to place the garland this except gerry and tim are just lifting jon up one arm each cause martin is already so tall and everyone is laughing while throwing flowers
• both of them cry. So much.
• i feel martin would just vibe while waiting for his henna to dry meanwhile jon is having tim hold statements and sasha the recorder as he reads them with his forearms upright. georgie has that disappointed look on her face while martins just making heart eyes as actual eyes appear around jon
• i dont think they would let anyone officiate the wedding as in a outside person... they managed to convince georgie to get ordained just for this
• bangels. Jon would probably find a few from his grandmother's stuff although he isnt sure if its hers or not cause they look much more stylish than what she would wear he doesn't know it but they were his mother's
• the admiral is there. and he is sitting on jons lap and occasionally martin's through the sitting part of the rituals
