Timebox - Don't Make Promises (1967)
Marvelous psych-soul cover of Tim Hardin. They really pulled out all the stops on this recording.

things that have worked for me so far in terms of getting writing done:
hot drink
turning off my laptop wifi
50 min pomodoro/10 min break
stimuwrite outdoor cafe soundscape
#imp#krow.misc#uni#i use timebox timer for pomodoro (i love it so much i paid for ad-free in one-time payment)#i like the stimuwrite soundscape bc that means there's bg noise without needing wifi!!#i've listened to it so much i can lowkey catch where the loop starts lol

OK not to immediately negate my doomerposting but today I have not only achieved most of my to do list and am lined up to complete at least 2/3 of the hoped for tasks but also I have cleaned the kitchen + bathroom and called the insurance company
#I am not banking on to do list days continuing for Very Long but like I'm taking this as I can get it#And I am hoping to be building The Microhabits and getting past Unapproachability Of Tasks and such#The big thing that is helping me here is uhh the Why Not Now thing#Like#Ppl have espoused routine and timeboxes to me for so long and the thing is that it doesn't actually end up helpful to me very much#But just like#Trying to get around to things whenever I Can as opposed to at the Right Time is so helpful#For getting around to those ever

YESSS this looks awesome ty for tagging me :3!!
well that's definitely some songs I haven't listened to in a while 😭 LMAO tagging @cat-fishieee @sayijo @ninjamelissajulien @cicadaduet and anyone else who wants to join :3
Challenging you all!
Put your music library on shuffle, then list the first five songs that come up in a poll to let people vote for which one they like the most!
Then tag Tumblr friends to keep the game going!
#YALL I SWEAR I HAVE BETTER MUSIC TASTE THAN THIS....#i have almost 4k songs on my liked playlist leave me alone. im better than this /j#i need to go thru my playlist tbh cause listening to it is a chore#so many songs on it i dont like anymore#but its like my little timebox to me

listening to The Memory Librarian audiobook and bruhh when Timebox ended and it started introducing the next story it's like aughhjagzgauwg that's where it ends????
like ngl i hadn't been hoping this story would go on forever it had me so frustrated (tone tag positive, like that's what it was trying to evoke i think) i wanted there to be some kind of... i don't even know. understanding? reckoning? acknowledgement on a more-than-surface level? i both am not sure what i was hoping for and am trying to avoid spoilers lol
i'm really enjoying this book so far. Neer was such a mood oh my god. like a mirror in a way that's uhh unflattering in certain ways lol. like i'm listening and thinking 'augh why would they think that's their fault' while at work actively trying not to fall back into overextending myself taking it personally when the other shifts comment on things that reflect less-than-great on my coworkers as if that means something about the shift as a whole and i'm not even trying to be team lead i'm actively trying not to be actually and... etc yeah 💀
what's wild is i'm not much of a music person so i'll remember occasionally like 'hey isn't there like a whole album that goes along with this too? that'll be cool to listen to after' like i'm not sure that's the order that ppl are supposed to become familiar w Janelle Monáe and their work but i'm having a good time ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

don't actually wanna put a reply on this post because my "this anon is a child" indicator is beeping and don't want them to feel scolded or something. but this feels like such a sad approach to media you love to constantly be worried about being "too late", 1) there are so many communities that are still active (however small) for long dead shows/games/etc. i mean ppl still regularly post about the monkees lmao. 2) being less than a year "late" is nothing!! in 10 years it really will not matter if you started playing in 2023 or 2024 like you'll still have that nostalgia. 3) i still get bg3 content on my feed regularly and im not even really active in it lol
content mills churn through a new game and spew out as much commentary as they can in like 2 weeks but you're not a content mill. you're a person who found a new game they love and you can enjoy that whenever you want
#games that i feel actually do put on that pressure are mmos with timeboxed events and stuff like genshin#which is why those games always give me mixed feelings. i hate feeling fomo engineered by a marketing team

How to Declutter Your Mind and Cultivate Super Focus
Do you ever feel like you have too much going on? Have you ever felt overwhelmed by the sheer number of action items on your to-do list? Are appointments, meetings, or due dates slipping through the cracks? We all drop the ball from time to time. But in my experience, a cluttered mind is largely self-inflicted, and it often stems from laziness, shiny object syndrome, or even hyper-ambition. So,…

"How to Life" Masterlist
Cleaning and Tidying
Make your bed in the morning. It takes seconds, and it's worth it.
Reset to zero each morning.
Use the UFYH 20/10 system for clearing your shit.
Have a 'drop-zone' box where you dump anything and everything. At the beginning/end of the day, clear it out and put that shit away.
Automate your chores. Have a cleaning schedule and assign 15mins daily to do whatever cleaning tasks are set for that day. Set a timer and do it once the timer is up, finish the task you're on and leave it for the day.
Fold your clothes straight out of the tumble dryer (if you use one), whilst they're still warm. This minimises creases and eliminates the need for ironing.
Clean your footwear regularly and you'll feel like a champ.
Organisation and Productivity
Learn from Eisenhower's Importance/Urgency matrix.
Try out the two-minute rule and the Pomodoro technique.
Use. A. Planner. (Or Google Calendar, if that's more your thing.)
Try bullet journalling.
Keep a notebook/journal/commonplace book to dump your brain contents in on the regular.
Set morning alarms at two-minute intervals rather than five, and stick your alarm on the other side of the room. It's brutal, but it works.
Set three main goals each day, with one of them being your #1 priority. Don't overload your to-do list or you'll hit overload paralysis and procrastinate.
If you're in a slump, however, don't be afraid to put things like "shower" on your to do list - that may be a big enough goal in itself, and that's okay.
Have a physical inbox - a tray, a folder, whatever. If you get a piece of paper, stick it in there and sort through it at the end of the week.
Consider utilising the GTD System, or a variation of it.
Try timeboxing.
Have a morning routine, and guard that quiet time ferociously.
Have a folder for all your important documents and letters, organised by topic (e.g. medical, bank, university, work, identification). At the front of this folder, have a sheet of paper with all the key information written on it, such as your GP's details, your passport details, driving licence details, bank account number, insurance number(s), and so on.
Schedule working time and down time alike, in the balance that works for you.
Money
Have. A. God. Damn. Budget.
Use a money tracker like toshl, mint, or splitwise. Enter all expenses asap! (You will forget, otherwise.)
Have a 'money date' each week, where you sort through your finances from the past seven days and then add it to a spreadsheet. This will help you identify your spending patterns and whether your budget is actually working or not.
Pack your own frickin' lunch like a grown-up and stop buying so many takeaway coffees. Keep snacks in your bag.
Food and Cooking
Know how to cook the basics: a starch, a protein, a vegetable, and a sauce.
Simple, one-pot meals ("a grain, a green, and a bean") are a godsend.
Batch cook and freeze. Make your own 'microwave meals'.
Buy dried goods to save money - rice and beans are a pittance.
Consider Meatless Mondays; it's healthier, cheaper, and more environmentally friendly.
Learn which fruits and vegetables are cheapest at your store, and build a standard weekly menu around those. (Also remember that frozen vegetables are cheap and healthy.)
Learn seasoning combinations. Different seasoning, even with the exact same ingredients, can make a dish seem completely new.
Misc
Have a stock email-writing format.
Want to start running, but find it boring? Try Zombies, Run!.
Keep a goddamn first aid kit and learn how to use it.
Update your CV regularly.
Keep a selection of stamps and standard envelopes for unexpected posting needs. (It happens more regularly than you would think!)

in light of amanda admitting that this was fully improvised i am reblogging this. AGAIN. courtney was apparently the one to lean in but i HAVE been vindicated. smosh rpf vindicated.
My version of the fictional courtmanda rpf ship feels like it can best be summed up by "will launch towards you for a kiss for a bit" (amanda) and "is very fine with being kissed for a bit" (courtney) and "will 100% commit to a kiss in a bit if the other person is committing" (both) and that's. thats how you end up with "oh shit whoops" courtmanda.
#FINE ABOUT IT. OKAY. OKAY. I NEED TO GO SORT SOME THINGS OUT WITH MY COWORKERS SO WE'RE FURIOUSLY TIMEBOXING THIS REACTION AND THEN GOING#smosh rpf#courtmanda#amanda lehan canto#courtney miller#smosh bit city

#brain dump #Prioritize #timebox
Pretty self-explanatory... Also, I am thinking about going fully analog for my journaling... I want to be on the internet as little as possible... because I can feel my brain decaying
