well, my mother, Frisk, and Dr Alphys insisted I made some sort of account so I guess I start with some basic information.

I was "born" after frisk and Sans had been married for a couple years, over a decade after my mom, Frisk, freed the underground. I was made by Alphys, by combining my parents, Frisk and Sans, DNA. I take after my father when it comes to my health, but I take after my mother's attack, as my magic and determination are intertwined.

I have a. . . well I guess she's my child, she was made when me and Alphys were trying to make an artificial version of my soul, to use it as an energy source.

This one is kind of hard to translate, but it roughly means "that was one hair away", meaning it was very close. It's a pun with the fact that cats have lots of hair (in French, we have different words for the hair on your head and the ones on your body/an animal, and the latter is used here).

Fr: Nom d'un chat elle perd pas de temps, hein.

For cat's sake, she wastes no time.

A pun lost in translation once again. In French, we usually say "nom d'un chien", which roughly means "for dog's sake", but it was here changed to a cat.

Miraculous Rewatch Where I Overanalyze Everything: Timebreaker

Welp, I had a lot of thoughts for Stormy Weather, and in exchange I have very few for this one. I think it's because I remembered this episode extremely accurately, so I wasn't really struck by anything upon rewatch. Still got some things to say though!

To start off with, I have a question. Why on God's green Earth would you design a character who has snake patterns ALL over her, and then give her time powers that don't let her go back more than several minutes (which is a reasonable non story-breaking way to introduce time travel), and then later create a magical jewel that lets you turn into a snake with EXTREMELY similar time powers. . . AND THEN NOT GIVE IT TO HER?!?!? I've always been of the opinion that Alix should have had the snake miraculous, since, like I said, those time travels don't break the story the way the rabbit does. But when I watched this I went "God it really has been forever since I've seen this show," because I didn't remember Alix's clothes are LITERALLY COVERED IN SNAKES!!!!

Like, I love Luka, he's cool, whatever, but Alix feels like she was made for the snake! Or the snake was made for her or something! Give the rabbit some other power and then give that to Luka! Or hell, just switch their miraculous! He seems like a better fit for it than Alix. But NOOOOOO. We just had to make the rabbit an Alice in wonderland reference which meant we had to give the character with the pocket watch the rabbit.

Rare image of the WHOLE class standing next to each other so we can get height differences. The height order appears to be: Kim, Ivan, Nino, Adrien, Alya, Juleka, Chloe, Max, Nathaniel, Marinette, Sabrina, Rose, Mylene, and then Alix. I *think.* There is a little foreground background fuckery going on, but at least I can confirm I'm not going crazy and Nino is in fact taller than Adrien. Anything else you see is a lie. Including the show. You have a tall Nino truther here.

The episode only has a picture of Marinette's banner for like .2 seconds, so here it is! Very cute, very her, I like it a lot (Kim's cowlick looking like bunny ears is adorable).

Wow! The whole class is super excited for Alix to beat Kim in this race. Including usually apathetic people like Chloe and Nathaniel and Ivan. How irritating did he have to be about it to make them THAT enthusiastic?

Hey why does Sabrina look so full of hatred for Kim specifically? Everyone's ragging on him here, but the only two people who look like they hate Kim more than they like Alix are Ivan and Sabrina. Ivan probably doesn't like him much for the whole Stoneheart thing, which is totally fair, but what's Sabrina's beef? My belief is that she sees him as romantic competition for Chloe, and I am now going to be writing her as despising him personally.

Y'know, this is objectively a fine episode, but I've always hated it because of this series of events right here. My children. It is a POCKET-watch. Put it in a pocket! How did this not occur to ANY of you? Complete "could have avoided this plot." The lesson we're supposed to take from this episode is to not shirk your responsibilities, but I think Alix is being very responsible! She doesn't want it broken, so she gives it to someone to hold onto while she does something risky. . . and then all of them proceed to be complete idiots and don't put it in their pockets!

Chloe's line here is "If it's Alix's, then it's probably worthless," and I honestly wonder how she came to that conclusion? Alim casually takes her to a high end fancy restaurant for her birthday. He's a curator at the Louvre. Anytime we see Alix, she seems to be on the richer end of the class. I'm going to assume it's just because Chloe doesn't know Alix very well, and assumes that her dressing like a trashy skater punk automatically equates to her being "poor."

Here we get another case of the color slowly and eerily seeping in to the akumatized item instead of it turning all back very quickly. I really do wish they'd kept this trend. The bubbling sounds it makes are so gross, it sounds like something horrible and corruptive and evil is happening (I know the bubbling remains consistent, but the way it gurgles as it slowly seeps into the item is a little different and a little eerier).

Another episode, another stealthy entrance from Chat Noir! I can't promise I'll shut up about this, I really do just love the way he can materialize into a scene. And this time he even uses it to tease the villain! Adrien is such a good character for this genre, seriously. His personality slots right into both the superhero-ey aspects and the magical girl anime aspects and it's too perfect!

Already we can see Hawkmoth being terrible at his job! Buddy, when you give the pissed-off teenagers superpowers and then crank their rage up to 11, did it never occur to you that maybe they wouldn't wanna listen to you? This is one of those things that I can't decide if I like or not. It's super cool when Butterfly Boy here is genuinely menacing and good at emotional manipulation, but it's also so satisfying when he's more of a comedic and ineffectual villain who's a slave to the whims of his akumas.

Whichever side we lean into in fanfic usually depends on the tone---are you going for drama or comedy---but I honestly think, at least in season one, the show straddles doing both pretty decently. I think it helps that it kind of just depends on the person/akuma. Characters like Chloe or Alix, who are shown to be pretty headstrong and snarky don't really listen to him. Meanwhile, weaker willed characters like Mr. Ramier or less confrontational characters like Nino are more likely to work with him.

Waiter waiter! More looney-toons shenanigans please! The fight scenes are actually seriously a highlight and a huge strength of this show! They're full of really cool moments like Chat dodging Stormy Weather's frontal assault, but then they're also full of extremely ridiculous cartoony nonsense like Alix dragging Marinette behind her by her yo-yo. I've gotta try to remember that when I write fight coreography!

Uh, that's different. Absolutely not how cataclysm normally works. I seriously wonder what's going on here. What was in Adrien's head and what was his intention to make it just crumble into rubble like this without getting the cataclysm decay? Was he just targeting the mortar or something? Fascinating. I absolutely adore creative uses of cataclysm where you go into all the different ways you can destroy something, so this is a fun new one!

LITTLE SALTY ON THIS BIT: Alix asks Ladybug how she fixed her watch here, and I'm wondering the same thing? Most of the time, the Miracle Cure can only fix damage directly caused by the akuma, which I know becomes a plot point several times. But Alix's watch got broken before Hawkmoth got involved at all, so what gives? Like, I know the Doylist reason is because the episode needed a happy ending, but seriously, the status-quo-yo should have no jurisdiction here. Another reason this one has always been an episode I don't particularly like. Pick a lane!

Okay so in timebreaker Jalil and Alim have a fight about the miraculous Jalil being furious at the fact that Alix was given the rabbit miraculous as a birthday gift. Given everything Mrs. Kubel went through and the fact that it got her killed. Alim largely unsympathetic to how his feels about the miraculous essentially telling him that Alix mature enough to handle the responsibilities. Also there's no proof their mother's death was connected at all to the rabbit miraculous. So Jalil storms out to find someone who can help him get the rabbit Miraculous the only problem is he's known in Paris for his conspiracies. So he turns to the only person who seems to really listen and that's Daphne who's kind of in the middle of showing off a house (She's a real estate agent). A bit of context I forgot to add earlier is before Jalil storming off he mentioned to his father the very least pretend to listen like Ms. Morrow (Daphne) does. Alim like my God son leave that poor woman alone you nearly sacrificed her (Pharaoh) she doesn't need to deal with all your crazy theories. Anyway, Daphne's like okay well I'll talk to you at when I'm done this listing. And afterwards he's like okay. Do you believe in time travel And she's basically like well I guess I never really thought of it before. And he then explains the rabbit Miraculous to her. And since she has the knowledge that Fu is actually missing three miraculous (Because what do you mean he has it but it's also Alix's pocket watch)

She realizes that what he just describes sounds just like The missing rabbit miraculous so she's okay I'll help. Now Alix becoming timebreaker plays out differently with Nathaniel being given The watch to hold on to as Alix races Kim with Chloe snatching it from him and saying that's probably a worthless hunk of junk (Oh sweetie, if only you knew) Adrien tells Chloe she can't just say stuff like that about his friends belongings Juliet tries to take the watch from Chloe and they fight over the watch This leads to the watch ending up on the race track with the keychain attached to the watch that Mrs. Kubel had put on it a picture of the family it got ruined by her skate. Alix is really upset about the whole thing because it belonged to her dead mom so it's like one of the last things she has of her and the fact she ended up damaging it breaking part of it.

Juliet and Nathaniel both felt really bad about the fact keychain attached to watch got broken so they tried to comfort her and Adrien argues that Chloe should apologize since she's partially responsible for the keychain breaking. Chloe for her credit does actually *feel bad* knowing the context of *why* the keychain breaking upset Alix. She says she'll only apologize if Adrikins comes with. That is around Daphne and Jalil arrive on the scene. Jalil is like do you guys have any idea where my sister is? And before anyone has time to do anything Alix is akumatized. Daphne is once again put in danger by akumatized Kudbel. Which I'm just realizing that it's just that doofenshmirtz meme.. lol

Juliet not wanting Nathaniel see her transformation pushes him into the bushes poor boy. Juliet transforms into Hawk Princess and has to get them out of danger. The time shenanigans play out mostly the same only with Jalil and Daphne being caught in it. Jalil even revealing that the akumatized item was a Miraculous the three all yell shocked. Which Jalil is shocked that they didn't know. Also Hawk Princess was the one that had her energy stolen instead of Chat Noir Oh yeah and Gabe isn't acting like a Saturday morning cartoon villain. Anyway the two Chat Noir's catacym the watches. The ladybugs purify the akumas and Hawk Princess hands Alix her now fixed Watch charm and everything Chat Noir Makes a joke that there should be two of them more often which Ladybug rightfully smacks him upside the head for. Jalil hugs Alix and The three Heroes split so they can de-transform. Poor Nathaniel got lucky and missed out on everything But also has twigs in his hair from being pushed into a bush. Daphne hugs Juliet tightly And rightfully so after seeing her fade away right before her eyes. Jalil thinking Alix already knows that the Watch is a miraculous ends up revealing it. When they are home Alim ends up scolding Jalil for once again, endangering Daphne's life Alix does try to take the fall since she was the one akumatized. Jalil argues that it was careless for their father not to disclose the truth about the watch being a Miraculous. Alim justifies his decision by saying he was going to tell her when the time was right and not in front of a bunch of people like Jalil accidentally did. Jalil argues he wouldn't have done that had he known that Alix didn't already know. Jalil once again brings up their mom and remembering the time she missed and the watch led to her death.

Alix still really doesn't want her older brother to leave Jalil laments how he wishes things were different. Alix asks where he'll go which he's like I might have place at least temporarily. We then cut over to Daphne making dinner for her and Juliet. With Daphne specifically making Juliet's favorite food. Juliet pleasantly surprised to see her favorite food and Juliet asking what's up? Daphne simply stating that after today she earned it much to Juliet's confusion. That's when we get a knock at the door. Daphne opens it and much to her shock it's Jalil asking if he can come in. Daphne lets him in and Juliet asks if everything's alright which he responds with no and then sits down. Alix texts Juliet asking if her brother is at her apartment.

So, it occured to me that Alix's pocket watch didn't change to different camoflauge modes when it was being passed around in timebreaker. That means that there's either some way to stop it from doing that, or it being a miraculous is a retcon.

I think it falls under the 'we didn't want to reveal this yet' category, so while technically a 'retcon' after a fashion (Just like Miraculouses being indestructible) it's not something I would complain overly about, as it was only episode 5 of season 1 of the show and a minor inconsistency. We give some leeway here.

It could also be that holding a Miraculous doesn't change it, but actively wearing it does. Therefor Someone would have to hook the Watch by it's chain onto their pocket, then it would shift forms. (It's not shown with a chain, but that's how they work)

Another akuma redesign- Timebreaker this time! Leaning more into bug (idk why bug but her original design gave me bug vibes) and clockwork. Their green bits are foggy glass or some sort of similar material. Theyve got a metal skeleton in there, full of clockwork machine instead of the human she was before. Her heart is replaced with her pocket watch.

Akuma thoughts:

I think itd be so much more metal if the watch was akumatized and our heros had to break the glass to get it out. Separating akumas from humans- they arent really, not when their akumatized, though it changes per akuma.

Like some are more human than others, some loose all humanity alltogether (Horrificator is a peak example- shes full beast) and some dont (Chameleon, Collector- Both human with added powers). It kinda shows a disconnect from a person and their anger and actions. Though thats not true for every akuma.

Anyway- ive got Gamer coming out next Tues- I dunno if im happy with him but i prefer it to canon lol.
