Watching Are You Sure?! EP 1

A reminder of how I do these reaction posts as I watch things. I just write my reactions and thoughts down literally as a happen. Think more of a bullet point format. I'll include links when I can to videos, thanks to the people who twt who upload clips. And at the end, I'll do a better wrap up of all my opinions. I hope everyone enjoyed the show so far!!

The episode starts with Jimin showing up right before JKs GMA performance and interview, July 14th 2023.

Them meeting up and talking about how he has his performance in NY on GMA later. Jimin saying that he hadn't seen him in a while, their schedules kept them SO BUSY 😭😭 this trip was so good for them. And the way he caressed JKs throat and told him to rest his voice and take care of it since it had been hurting. 🥺 So many soft touches too as soon as they were able to see each other again. And we didn't even get to see their actual reunion.

JK packing up his hotel room and talking about how he never traveled so freely before. They are so sweet and so busy and I'm so glad they were able to carve out even just a few weekends for time to themselves. And the way when the staff was talking to them about plans and who would drive etc, JK said he would drive and was just sitting there talking about traffic while they were holding hands interlocked resting in Jimins lap 😭 that's so??!!

Then fighting over the AC in the car in efforts to take care of the other is so cute. Jimin wanting to make sure JKs throat stayed okay, JK not wanting Jimin to get sick. They baby the heck out of each other. And Jimin watching his GMA performance on his phone 🥰 JKs cute smile while Jimin was jamming out to his music 🥺

The absolute bickering over who is a bad driver/bad at parking. The get out. Lmao the way they absolutely irritate each other on purpose is amazing and soooo best friends/might as well be married behavior 😂🤣

When they went shopping together and JK said they should buy the same shorts together 😍🥰 matchy matchy always!!

And an ARMY recognized them and saying hello and they were so cutely excited about it. "We've still got it." 😍🥺🥰

JK ordering for them again at the brewery 🥰 and I love that they went to an LGBTQ friendly brewery for one of their first hang out spots. Some ARMYs went and talked to the people working and said they everyone said Jikook were super polite, no one had recognized them and they kept to themselves a bit and just had some phones/go pros for recording.

The way that they also started talking about how this was their trip before military service. And how JK started bonking Jimin over the head with his camera when he mentioned it. Jimin was giggling but you KNOW that they was emotional from it too. This was when they were thinking there was still a chance they would be separated for 2 years. I know they were anxious to get to cherish this time spent together. I know it meant SO much to them both and probably so much to JK that Jimin traveled all this way and made it happen.

The way that JKs kayak tipped over immediately and Jimin just was cackling as he continued to paddle away and the staff were fishing JK out of the lake 🤣🤣🤣 just for JK to furiously row up on him and be like "you have your phone?? Tip over!!" 🤣🤣 They are so funny and cute! And Jimin taking a photo of his baby 💜 the way Jimin spent the whole time on the water just laughing and smiling fondly at everything JK would do. It's so freaking sweet. They just really had so much fun together being silly and goofy.

Not Jimin giving JK the "you come here often?" Pick up line and the immediate roleplay they both get into 😅🤣😂 they really can't go too long without at least a little bit of flirting lol

We know there was a getaway cabin with a 2 bed option but Jikook picked the one with just one bed. Lmfao good for them. Hey BH, we know you have no issues with filming the members while they sleep, even while they share the bed. How come we got zero footage of Jikook sharing the bed? 😂😂

Jimin being like "JK, you are a good cook 🥺" and Jungkook just immediately getting to work on cooking them dinner 🥺💜 although when Jimin asked for a taste, why did JK feed him from his FINGER?! Lmfao and what the hell was the noise he made when Jimin licked his finger 😂🤣 half moan, half laugh? I don't even know lmao

And the way he ran to go feed Jimin a piece of the chicken because he was proud of how his cooking was turning out. Sooo cute. Jimin accidentally dropped a piece of chicken and acted like he committed a great offence 😭😂 the way they spilt dinner duties though was so cutely domestic.

JK speaking directly to the camera to speak to the viewers. Man has done too many hours long live streams. Lmao he is too used to just chatting with ARMYs 🤣😂 that was adorable and Jimin thought so too. And the way Jimin goes "I miss V" and JK immediately is like "let's call him!" Anything to make Jimin smile! But they clearly cut so much of that convo, BH, give me my members loving each other istg I miss them too much. And don't even get me started on the yoonminkook conversation. I genuinely almost teared up. I miss BTS so much 😭 their laughter is healing

Jimin getting a stomach bug 😭😭 my poor baby. And the screen just going black while Jikook cuddle?? The give us minimal Audio and a black screen and then they cut away entirely and we KNOW they are cuddling. Lmfao TF BH!! We know they cuddle, where is my fanservice?! And JK turned over at some point and elbowed Jimin in the nose. You KNOW they were all up in each other's business on that bed for that to happen 😂😂😂

And my poor Jimmie... He feels so bad 😭😭 JK is taking such sweet care of him though.

JK outside stacking rocks while Jimin rests is giving me Yumi vibes. Lmfao I love him (and her!) SO MUCH! The way he prayed after too for a good trip with Jimin. The rock tower is also (correct me here if needed) a way to pray for someone's health and well-being. My poor sick Jiminie. Yumi also used the rock towers as ways to pray and communicate with her Gods.

Wrap up thoughts?

Not much I haven't already said honestly. Lol but just more emphasis on how special this trip is, both to Jikook themselves and for us to have it shared with us. This IS comfort TV. They bring each other such peace and happiness. They both banter and tease and have such fun. They both baby the heck out of the other. JK taking care of a sick Jimin was soooo nice seeing. The way Jimin wasn't feeling good, but rallied in order to have a good time for their weekend away.

It's also interesting that so much of this is honestly filmed from GoPro. They have some staff and crew there, but from what I've seen it's a smaller number than normally goes to film these shows and they are left alone with just installed cameras fairly often. That's extra nice for them. 💜

I am and forever will be salty about all the cuts. The Tae face time was cut short, the cuddling was cut, so much was cut. Which duh, I get why. But I still want more 😂 looking forward to the behinds to see if we get anything more. That black screen cut from them cuddling though was 👀👀😂😂

JK was such a good leader and took charge so much so far this trip. It was cool to see, Jimin ALSO thought so! The way he was speak for both of them, drove them around, ordered food and drinks for them, gave dinner prep instructions. Gave Jimin his medicine.... I'm not saying it's hyung behavior.... But... Lol also I did notice that there was a pretty even split of address between him calling Jimin hyung, or just by his name. Along with all the little random bits of flirting sprinkled through the episode lol so cute..

hello if this is your first cb season w bts i have a few tips for you!

don’t let yourself get overwhelmed or overtired! remind yourself that new content will still be there after you’ve had a decent amount of rest - this is hard to do even for veteran armys lol

tbh - don’t go on twitter. army twt turns everything into drama and cb season on there isn’t as much fun as it is on here

don’t let yourself get tempted into buying every new little thing bh drops for butter promo - this one is more for me lol

don’t stress about mv streaming - the fandom is so much bigger than before dynamite even and so it’s likely we’ll surpass some records without even trying - obv it doesn’t hurt to try but enjoyment is the most important part!

it’s likely that there will be a few surprise drops/lives/etc. in this cb. don’t panic when that happens! it doesn’t matter if you see things hours or days or weeks late!

and lastly - don’t let anyone tell you how YOU should enjoy your first comeback! do what works best for you and try not to get too anxious about what everyone else is doing!

Memories of 2020 - Initial asks and a small discussion

*cracks knuckles* Here we go.

If any of you have spent any amount of time today on any ARMY sns platform, I’m sure you’ve seen the mess which, as seasoned ARMY, I can tell you was the exact same mess we see...every single time. I can’t particularly say I’m surprised by any of it, especially when watching the entire process, as in the first clips hitting the TL and then the rest slowly following suit like a flood building steadily as the hours went by.

I’m pleased to report it wasn’t actually as bad as I expected, though now that I’m typing this I probably jinxed my own luck and the flood of asks will come soon enough, but maybe not. I’m holding on to the latter.

Based on the cycle in which these things happen every time, as in that the first clips that hit the ARMY spaces are Xkook ones, followed by vmin and other ships, and lastly more OT7 content, I expected our asks to go haywire after that clip, you know which one I mean. But we’ve only gotten two (?) about it, kind of, so I guess most people understood that it was just for laughs and nothing serious that anyone would have to get insecure over.

From anon: Sigh. This is my first memories of bts as army and i'm already tired of how all of twitter seems to be about 1 j*/k*ok moment now. There were so many j*n/kook m*ments and hugs and a sweet h*pe/k*ok backhug moment and a good number of vmin moments including slow dancing so why is the focus always on that one ship?

Here’s the thing, maybe my TLs are just well curated, I don’t know, but on mine no one really focused on that moment? Even non-shipper OT7s just briefly had a chuckle and then moved along to other things, awww’ed at vmin moments, there was lots and lots of talk about J*nk*ok being super cute and there being so much content when it comes to their interactions, there was a lot of chatter about basically every duo and OT7 moment. I know ship specific spaces went nuts, Xkookers butting heads like their lives depend on it, but outside of them?

“All of twt” is an exaggeration and I know, believe me I do, that Xkookers have the ability to make it seem like everyone just cares about their moments because they themselves (the shippers) are loud and seemingly everywhere, but when you look past them, that isn’t the case. Shippers have a tendency to generalize, especially those who follow a lot of their fellow shippers, but when you step outside of shipper spaces, things look very differently.

Like anon said, though I’d like to preface this by saying that I haven’t seen the entirety of Memories of 2020 so I can only go by what I have seen though I’d say I’ve seen nearly everything that was posted on twt or at least as much as I could find (including Xkook things), there were a lot, and I mean a lot, of amazing moments between basically all the members, regardless of who your favorite duo might be, I’m sure there was something for you there. Even those who are supposedly a rarity. And even as vminnies, this time around we had a feast with so many amazing vmin moments, some funny ones, some random ones, some super cute ones, whatever you want, there is something there for you to find. And the same can be said about so many other duos, we even got Yoongi and Hobi FaceTiming each other, and Yoongi saying they look like a couple while looking at the pictures Hobi chose for the coffee truck he sent to Yoongi’s Daechwita MV filming set.

There’s one discussion I’d like to get out of the way below the cut, but after that I will have another post very, very soon in which I want us to just have some fun and look at vmin, namjin and the other moments because there is just so much to find. And this is just day one of people having the DVDs, these discussion will continue for a while because, like I mentioned before, Memories are a treasure trove for OT7 content and fun stuff, and there’s more than eleven hours worth of it to be watched, discovered and discussed.

But, okay, let’s get into that moment since anons wanted to talk about it and know my thoughts on it, so let’s do just that. And yes, other anon from a while ago, I remember you once mentioning how I shouldn’t talk about other ships and shouldn’t “debunk” them and their moments, though I’d hardly call this debunking, but as I said many times since our first post, I’m ARMY before I am a vminnie and namjinist, and our blog is called thoughts on Bangtan and, as far as I’m aware, both JK and Jimin are part of Bangtan, so I don’t see a reason why I can’t show my perspective on it and also voice my grievances with shippers when it comes to that moment. And, before anyone comes into our asks to yell at me for being toxic/problematic or only doing this to make my ship look better or whatever, no, that isn’t the point, like at all. 

“Debunking” moments makes literally no difference whatsoever in the grand scheme of things and doesn’t affect reality, all I am doing is having a chat just like everyone else. I’m not even asking you to agree with me, you’re more than welcome not to, I can’t and won’t stop you. Also, just so you know, my initial reaction was just to laugh amused by it, no hard feelings, so I’m not the bad guy.

That being said...the Xkook moment.

Here’s the thing, when it first surfaced many hours ago, the moment itself was cut down to show just the moment of Jimin leaning close to JK and JK leaning back and turning his head away so his cheek faced Jimin...and cut, some even cutting off the video before JK turned his head. That’s it. People, as in shippers, freaked out, and everyone else had a good laugh and moved along to other things, even vminnies were joking about it and everything. I saw none of my fellow vminnies getting angry or insecure about it. Then, as time went by, someone else posted that scene but this time also showing the things leading up to it, so putting it into context instead of removing it. With the context suddenly the whole thing looked and felt completely differently since moments prior Jimin was pretending to stab JK with the pointy end of his mic and then acted as though to check if he was d*ad, as in the end of the scene. Turns out it was just for giggles and not some grand romantic moment in a room full of people and a camera close to their faces.

By that time, of course, those who cared most about that moment had long decided what meaning this holds and didn’t care once context was shown. Gifs and art had already been created, the yelling was loud, and the fights between Xkookers were reaching levels of toxicity I hadn’t seen in a while, which was disgusting and fucked up the say the least. But, the thing is, I don’t think the moment itself was the issue. In context and as rational ARMY you know it was just Jimin playing around with JK as they usually do, things we’ve also seen other members do in similar (though not quite like this) fashion, and after eight years since debut and nine of knowing each other, this isn’t shocking or new in any way. No, the issue were Xkookers and the way they treated this moment, some even going as far as taking screenshots and editing them to make it seem like they were about to kiss, as in they changed the placements of their heads to fit their narrative, as well as others making gifs where they play the moment backwards (leaving out the part where JK leans his head away and to the side) and thus they created their own version of the moment which was different from what had actually happened.

That is my biggest issue with this whole thing. The blatant manipulation of moments to create narratives that don’t match reality, twisting them and using them in stupid pointless fights. But imagine vminnies were to do any of that, all hell would break loose and we’d be attacked without mercy because how dare, and yet they don’t follow their own “logic” and “rules”. It’s more than okay to find any and all moments cute, we all do, to make jokes and whatnot, but twisting context, manipulating it and basically creating your own version of it goes too far. 

Take what we are given as what it is, instead of what you want it to be.

So, now that that’s done, please fellow vminnies and ARMYs, don’t be insecure or let people ruin your mood and fun over it. It’s not worth it. Instead let’s check out and have a talk about some of the fun vmin and OT7 moments we got, along with other ones, including my reply to another anon when it comes to namjin. Of course what I will mention in the post (HERE) is basically just the tip of the iceberg since tumblr has a limit on pictures and everything, so just know there is so much more still left to see than just that.

Before I’ll go, for those who still feel a little insecure/doubtful/whatever else, while I was working on this post and the other one, another anon sent in this well timed vmin ask:

From anon: I have to say this as a Vmin supporter. Whatever is going on with Vmin we can rest assure what they is special/untouchable. They graduated HS & college together, going for Bachelors together. Jimin-ah I like you the most. I want to live with my lovely Taehyung for the rest if my life. Their future is together, friends/soulmates or more they said it. I won’t tear down other members closeness (good for them) their bonds don’t erase Vmins. I’m just happy with the moments Vmin allow us to see.

i remember when i first got into atz i was a recovering army bc i couldn’t stand their fandom anymore and then i got on atiny twt and thought they were the most chill fandom i’ve come across but as atz get more achievements idk if it’s the newer fans coming in or if there’s some overall shift but now they’re slowly starting to resemble army a bit. like i seriously saw someone say they’re a waitress who worked two months to donate her tips to a donation pool for atz charts or something like that and the amt was like 2k. and then i saw a tweet this week where op said “if you can buy a vip seat then you can buy a $9 streaming pass, do you not want atz to succeed?” like 😩 what is going on. i had to log out for the week and just get my updates from insta bc i couldn’t take it anymore. like this is supposed to be fun. the boys aren’t gonna hate you if you’re not listening to their songs on repeat 24/7 instead of working, going to school or practicing a hobby. i think they encourage the latter literally all the time but twt atinys like to twist their words around and its just so dumb. i’m sorry this ended up being so long but i wanted to get that off my chest and i don’t have any mutuals to speak to

i know you just said you don't do reddit but i actually like the bangtan subreddit, the general tone there is positive but not worshippy, and the feeling about PTD there seems to be 'not my cup of tea'. I don't want negativity in my fan spaces because bts is my happy place but also not the uncritical worship on twitter so i like it there lol. Just a tip!

the two tips for (army) twt i can give is to 1. watch out for solo stan accounts bc they're a pretty bad issue and get rly popular and promote scam funds for mixtapes tht arent out and share a lot of hate nd misinformation to members; and 2. curating what u see helps a lot. e.g. by turning off notifs for certain accounts, or using a mass blocking extension / website like redblock or secateur. it may sound like a hassle but they're easy in use and can prevent having to interact w people / their followers you dont feel safe w. i hope my tips were clear and not too overwhelming ^^; i do enjoy twitter more than tumblr often bc there's more bts content by army and it's more up to date. but harrassment nd misinformation is common there too so just be cautious

I have to admit, I’ve been wanting to draw that scene where Ariel stands on the edge of the boat and gets turned back into a mermaid with Kara for so long because it’s one of my favorite scenes from TLM2! I have to admit, I haven’t picked someone to be Morgana yet, but the rest of the AU is so much fun! I imagine Ume is still little as opposed to being a tween like Melody so thinking about her adventures with Dekapan and Dayon (as Tip and Dash) is also fun! 

And then of course Karamatsu getting captured and Ivette coming with their armies and his family to come save him, and Ivette drawing a sword demanding to know where her daughter is!! Ah it’s such a fun AU! I really love it so much and I’m really happy you enjoy it too!

Stream DNA on spotify and youtube!! We are slacking :( The results for BB hot 100 and US top 50 ends TODAY! Streaming on spotify is easy! All you have to do is play DNA on repeat (each time it plays, counts!) You don’t even have to play the full song, as long as it is 30 seconds. Playing the full song is easier.

Also another tip, if you don’t have premium, make a new account and do the free trial. Then you will be able to stream!

Hello! As you know the comeback is here. Bighit just dropped this amazing comeback map to help us.

As they dropped the map they also dropped the links for the preorders. I'll post all of they for you guys but before some tips and things you need to know to help BTS to chart and make records in your country.

US ARMYS DO NOT BUY FROM WEPLY OR ANY IMPORT KOREAN SITE. Bighit it's giving you all the links to all the official US sites (I'll post them below) for your pre order to count on the billboard charts.

ARMYs who have local charts pls look for your country's fanbase for official links that count for your country

Pls don't buy bulk buy more than 4 albums at once, so it will count on charts (especially US and UK) you can buy more after the pre order time

Don't worry if you can't pre order right away, we have 6 weeks until the album is out. Also the sales of the 1st week are also important.

Do you’ve tips for someone that used to be cardcore ARMY but recently fallen out of love with the group? Nothing major they did caused this but few unpleasant interactions with twt ARMYS and it soured the experience for me. I still love the boys and admire their work but I felt burnt out sometimes cuz of the constant content I feel I NEED to watch or stream.

I also feel very lonely in this fandom... I sound desp I know but sometimes I get so jealous seeing how people have been able to find a lot of ARMY (healthy and sane ones) friends while I literally don’t have one single friend.

my only tip really is to get off of twitter. twitter in general is a cesspool and army twitter (while it has its fun parts) is no better. i would also say: try to see your experience with armys as separate from your experience with bangtan. as much as we like to vibe with and relate to them, armys aren’t bangtan. so if you’re here for bangtan, be here for bangtan, not armys.

as for feeling lonely… in truth i don’t know what to tell you, friend. you don’t sound desperate at all - i used to feel exactly the same way (especially on twitter where everything is a flex including follower/mutual count). i can’t really give you tips there… i was alone in my bts loving world for a very long time. i didn’t make any army friends (online, at least) until almost two years in. i got lucky in that i was able to make armys out of some of my irl friends, and had a couple of irl acquaintances who were already armys with whom i then deepened my friendship. there’s no formula for making friends with armys tbh… it’s the same as making any other friends. find someone you have something in common with and make an effort in the hopes that it will be reciprocal. if it’s not, wish them the best and on to the next. there’s no simple answers here, and i’m genuinely sorry i can’t be of more help 🙁
