I was overjoyed to be reminded this fic of yours and being able to create something based on it is an honour! You're a wonderful soul, always offering kind words and helpful advice. Truly an inspiring person, and also an inspiring writer. Your writing always leaves me in awe with how you bring out emotions in the characters. I'm glad we've had the opportunity to meet! I hope you enjoy this iteration of the murder-widow robe, TJ! Even if the 'murder' only results in a little death.

Ooh, 80s Dreamling?

A human AU where I, extremely compelled by the visual contrast of 80s Dreamling, attempt to answer the question, "how the hell would these two people even meet" 😂 I'm so close to finishing this. Stockbroker Hob x Musician Dream

“What is it?” Hob asks, then decides he doesn’t care, and takes a pill, chasing it with the watery last drops of his drink, which is a terrible idea, but then, he’s full of them. “Ecstasy,” says Morpheus. Well, that’ll be some kind of fun, Hob thinks. Morpheus takes it back from him and takes a pill himself. “It occasionally makes me feel less like I am going to hurl myself from the balcony.” He doesn’t seem to be joking. “Good for something, then,” Hob says. “Why do you want to jump off the balcony?” He still has his hand in Morpheus’s hair. He honestly can’t believe he hasn’t propositioned him yet. That’s not like him. These parties are usually only good for quick, casual sex. He even thinks Morpheus would probably agree, and yet. “The state of things,” says Morpheus. He has such a deep, solemn voice. Hob wants to touch his mouth, or throat maybe. Okay, this is already not going so well. “And the state of my heart.” Hob pets his hair again. Morpheus leans into the touch. “Writing songs about yearning and angst and stuff isn’t fixing it?” He can well enough guess what Morpheus’s music is probably like. “No,” says Morpheus. He seems to really think about it. “I think it is making things worse. Perhaps I will try manipulating the financial markets instead. Is that giving you existential fulfillment?”

VP!Hob/A Waste of Shame!Dream - remind me what's up with this one?

Ah yes.... They.

I do know broadly how the plot goes, but the intricacies I haven't thought about in a while. Even though I definitely still love them. :D Another bodyguard one where Hob is looking after the Endless family! Listen, if it works, don't break it. It's also more period than my other one though, so. Also they both have more morals.

Snippet:

There’s giggles and muffled talking, a lady against a wall of the castle, covered in the black of Hob’s uniform, and Dream’s mouth dries, able to see them kiss, to see Hob’s hand come up to the woman’s face, words quiet between them.   And―and surely, the only natural way for Dream to react is jealousy, but there’s only envy, and the light spark of arousal as the woman’s sounds change, go higher pitched as Hob talks softly, taking off a glove with his teeth, and Dream swallows a sound as the hand goes under many skirts.  There’s a sudden sound behind him, and he can see Hob and the lady start to turn around, and Dream’s lucky to be close to another wall to hide behind, heart jackrabbiting in his chest. The quiet talking soon continues, and then the woman moans, pleasure obvious even from so far away and Dream shuts his eyes, trying to convince himself to stop listening.

4: How do you choose which fics to write?

i dont. my heart wants to write one thing but my brain takes a hard left and never cooperates with me :')

6: What’s the last line you wrote?

“Hey man, I just work in the shadows. Same as you.” He looks sideways at the sound of someone calling his name. “I’ll see ya in a bit.”

15: What’s your favorite time to write?

morning. my brain is fresh and ready to go.

16: Do you write by hand, on your phone, or on your laptop?

laptop 100%. notes get written on my phone but i absolutely can't be serious on my phone.

29: What’s something about your writing that you’re proud of?

uh. i guess dialogue. my favorite thing to read is character stories and i think that is reflected a lot in my writing. i often read aloud dialogue that i've written so it makes sense and i obsess over the little details. i know that's not everyone's cup of tea, and i do feel like it gets overly fluffy at times, but yeah. dialogue and descriptions.

30: How much do you edit your fics?  Do you edit as you write or wait until you finish the first draft?

i perform the cardinal sin of editing as i go. i physically can't write a rough draft. ive tried. im in my 30s now. it will never change lmao. and the editing never stops. if i choose to sit on a fic or chapter, i can look over it for days and find things wrong with it/add on, whatever. i also love stressing myself out and re-reading it after it's posted and editing after the fact pfft.

50: How would you describe your writing style?

inconsistent haha. especially my tumblr fics vs. my ao3 stuff. someone else would havta tell me if i have a certain style. like, could you pick me out in a crowd of 5 other authors? not sure.

73: What do you tend to get complimented on the most about your writing?

the attention to detail. the specifics. which i appreciate because, as mentioned above, i tend to draw things out and get fixated on the details. thank you everyone for encouraging this behavior lol

77: Why do you enjoy writing fanfiction?

i just love writing my OTPs getting into shenanigans. but also the community it builds. i love interacting with authors/readers, i love sharing ideas, and it's just a part of fandom culture that's always been very near and dear to my heart.

#3: silly hurt/comfort fic where hob keeps reappearing in the heart of the dreaming to a dream trying to run away from him. expanding on this fic

this is the angsty fic i wrote, which vi (@rooftopwreck) made lovely art for. vi and i were talking about it and how it can be made better, and she came up with the idea that hob should just keep reappearing in the dreaming, right beside dream, after dream left.

cue hob appearing in the middle of dream having a meeting with lucienne/merv, or when dream is making dreams/nightmares, or when dream is in his room, brooding or something. HAHA it's funny how a fic that angsty can easily turn into something silly.

of course, if dream really wanted to, he could just ban hob from the dreaming, but that isn't really what he wants, is it? try as he might, the dreaming knows what he really wants, so it just kept letting hob reappear.

I'm gonna be honest. It's Taylor Swift. It's been Taylor Swift since Folklore came out. She gets me. I am a basic bitch (complimentary).

Fun Fact: Every chapter of the sequel to the letters fic is titled with Taylor Swift Lyrics

9. Best new fandom discovery of the year

If this is just about new fandoms, it's dreamling, but I think I have been involved in 3 fandoms this year that have made me incredibly happy. The Musketeers, BBC Merlin, and The Sandman. I think these are some of the most positive and wonderful fandoms I have ever been involved in and it is so lovely. I adore it.

17. Your fictional true love of the year

Oh, this is easy. Dream of the Endless. Listen, you don't write 600 years worth of love letters for a guy without falling a little in love with him. They're good and realistic because I too am in love with an anthropomorphic personification of dreams and nightmares.

8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about

So I feel that it is a prevalent opinion that Hob speaks several languages, got noble etc, and in general his life revolves around Dream's existence.

While I do share the sentiment that he must know some basic French and, more realistically, Dutch, I don't think he is all that versed in languages + I also don't think that by 21st century he can even speak the Old English. Despite the fact he was born with that languages, it's been centuries, human brain has limited capacity for memory, and even regular, mortal humans tend to forget their mothertongues if they don't speak them long enough.

Also I think he is morally grey character AND he voted for Thatcher.

18. it's absolutely criminal that the fandom has been sleeping on...

The beautiful relationship he has had briefly with Hope in Overture??? Hello?? She was there, she was a hurting child, she was ruthless??? We have a canonical character called Hope who is PARAMOUNT in restoring the Universe, the world itself and yet????

Do tell, what is mushroom roulette?

It's my first ever dreamling fic!!! .... That I haven't even finished gfhghfhgj

As someone who hates mushrooms (bad texture), and in possession of a guy who can't die from mushrooms that can kill, it just sort of... appeared? No ending yet though. 🤔Perhaps one day I will get inspiration to finally end it. Or just post it up with what else I have in mind. Or something. Idk.

Snippet:

Dream glances at the mushroom, then him, and before he’s aware, the mushroom isn’t on the fork anymore as Dream eats it. Soon enough, Dream’s face becomes filled with disgust, much like a cat whose touched water and Hob almost expects him to spit it out, but Dream swallows it, even with his face broadcasting what he thinks of it. 

“Not for you, huh?” Hob says with a chuckle, taking a bite of his dinner. Dream looks at him with narrow eyes. 

“How can you stand the texture?” Dream asks gravely, staring at his dinner like he expects it to grow legs and attack. 

“It is one of my favourite foods,” he hums, considering. “Not sure if it was due to all the years eating them, or if I would’ve liked them regardless, but,” cutting up the steak to eat with the mushrooms, he happily takes a bite, “guess we’ll never know.”

The Howl's Moving Castle of Five Leaves drawings I made! I had a funny thought and became obsessed with it and spent a month redrawing six screenshots - I had no expectations, but I fell absolutely in love with all of them. I like that they're me, but they could also just be screenshots from an animation if you're not looking closely.
