cool features i think the brooklyn house should have so i'm making them canon

steam room that's like a few steps from the ground level. it's mostly underground. (it was alyssa's idea and she lobbied for it very much.)

underground pool. it's in like a cave. it's mostly dimly lit, and there's steps leading down to it from the steam room

herb garden on the roof (where freak's stable is). it's mostly for jaz' medicinal herbs, but there's also some herbs and spices generally used for cooking

there's also a few beehives on the roof! the beeswax gets a multitude of uses, mainly from cleo in the library (city bees actually usually do make the best honey when provided with homes and adequate water and stuff, because there's most biodiversity)

the three or four floors that line the sides of the great room are many a times just bedrooms, but as we've seen them change to accommodate sadie and carter (their favourite sweets and drinks, soundproofing, clothes, etc), i imagine that can be extended to like, when they need a place to smash to bits when training, they open the door of an unoccupied room, and a rage room is there. when they need a planetarium, it's there.

Lol so most of my posts are TKC related, AND I'LL KEEP AT IT. So Brooklyn house headcanons.

-Everyone in Brooklyn house is a found family. Everyone.

-its a rule to not anger the fire elementalists, someone tried that once, poor Jaz had to fix them up because their hands were burned.

-speaking about Jaz, she's Bi. Argue with the wall and fight me, I'll die on the hill.

-Jadie is a thing. Again, fight me

-they take turns babysitting the anklebitters.

-Julian is the Anklebitters favorite babysitter because they get to paint his nails.

-a while after Cleo got the fake coat (in Brooklyn houses magician manual) Thoth gave her a real one.

-since it's cannon that Alyssa does pottery, I headcanon that she made a bunch of vases

-felix is the cinnamon roll

-speaking about Felix, he names all of his penguins. And I mean ALL of them.

-Walt Sells good luck charms to the kids with tests.

-Zia and Carter go on dates at least once a month

-Carter is the mom figure and has unofficially adopted Felix and a bunch of other kids

-Sadie will sing along to every musical.

-Sadie is not only the coolest kid in the house, but also A Theater kid. Fight me.

-everyone used to be scared of Zia at first, but once they got to know her, they think of her as the second mother figure.

-Zia is a cat person.

-its all just pure chaos.

I know the Kane Chronicles fandom is pretty small, but can we get some headcannons for the side characters? (i.e., Alyssa, Felix, Jaz, Cleo, the “Ankle-biters”)

oh damn its actually been almost a year since ive read the series oops-

but yes ofc!!! it might be small but yes yesyes

jaz is probably into jazz and no not cuz its her name she just very much likes jazz

she’s probably even in the school band and plays the trumpet 

since alyssa is comes from a pottery family and she’s good with the earth i canon that she’s like really good at art. like not just pottery but also painting and shit

felix the penguin man!!! he was so cute!!! for his brithday the entire house gives him a penguin-shaped cake and he absolutely SQUEALS with joy!!! its so cute!!!

cleo is probably really into writing. specifically thrillers. sometimes she shares her stories with the people in the house and they are. absolutely. blwon away. like she is???? so good???? they’re all at the absolute edges of their seats

brooklyn house trainees misc. headcanons

singlehandedly forcing the kane chronicles fandom to life less gooo

sean ryan (path of tefnut - goddess of rain and moisture) and alyssa (path of geb - god of the earth) like to goof around together

alyssa is the reason there's a steam room and sauna on the ground floor of the brooklyn house

cleo from rio (path of thoth - god of knowledge) is a tumblr girlie (gods bless her) and owns a t-shirt with neil banging out the tunes

when she finds out about the greco-roman demigods, she routinely sends postcards to camp jupiter on the ides of march with "sorry for your loss" or "i heard they killed your guy again"

julian (path of horus - god of war) spends his spare time programming and doing math competitions

he has tried to combine some of the magic words taught to him to help him with electronics. his efforts have not been successful just yet

cleo likes to duat travel to other nomes' libraries and read up on things that the 21st nome just doesn't offer. she brings shabti in her bag so that they can copy documents she really likes

shelby of the ankle biters likes to draw, and her art sometimes comes to life. after rachel starts visiting her neighbours, shelby finds out she paints, and starts to really look up to her

for his birthday, the rest of the nome gift felix a yearly sponsorship to one of the penguins in their nearest zoo

along freak's stable, the roof has a little greenhouse, mostly for jaz' and paul's (path of nepit - goddess of agriculture) medicinal herbs

rachel and alyssa like to learn the other's art form from each other - alyssa gives rachel tips on how to make her pottery stable, and rachel teaches alyssa how different colours work together, and what's the best way to combine them

zariya (path of shu) really decided to follow the wind god, because she plays ultimate frisbee competitively. (also because she's watched atla and could not pass up an opportunity to airbend)

zariya and julian are good buddies, zariya being one of the few people to consistently refer to him exclusively as "jules" and dragging him along to ultimate frisbee games.

the two share scientific interests, julian's math and theoretical informatics, zariya's biophysics. they'll at times discuss these, but have no illusion - it's a thing of passion and great fun for both of them. also a bit of a competition

sage, who's only joined very near the final battle against apophis, uses they/them, and follows khonsu. they're pretty inexpressive and soft-spoken. they're interested in not just the moon, but also the time-controlling aspect of khonsu's magic. (they might have gotten stuck in a time loop a few times)

they're a bit of a mysterious figure, and hardly ever speak to anyone. contrary to popular belief, this isn't because they feel any animosity, they just don't really know what to say, so they prefer to keep to themself.

when older, shelby of the ankle biters decides to follow the path of bes. she's grown up with all incredibly fun people, and besides being the dwarf god, bes is also one of the art gods. freedom of self-expression and all that. shelby's never been afraid of expressing herself.

teagan (path of bast), who joined the crew sometime between the throne of fire and the serpent's shadow, is actually a trans girl! she's the one who catalyzes zia's own realization that he's trans as well. while the goddess is in the brooklyn house, the two love to hang out, bast directly teaching her some of her tricks on living the best life (the catgirl life)

Disclaimer: I don’t know how D&D works. I went to two sessions at the library & have spent ~10 min actually playing.

So D&D au’s are usually “the story is actually a D&D campaign, I’m gonna roll with that

They made their own homebrew classes for the campaign

Cleo is the DM

She & Zia spend the first session whispering about stuff they won’t tell anyone else

irl Bast is only like a year older than Carter & Walt & Zia

She’s also a massive troll

Walt didn’t have a character sheet for the first session but everyone else did so they started without him

Anubis was his first character as an act of vengeance

“Fuck you, my character’s a GOD”

Anubis is also his service dog’s name

Carter: “you named your character after your dog?”

Walt: “I named my dog & my character after the same ancient deity”

Cleo gets Walt back by never letting his character go anywhere

Julius walks in to check on them right around the time Set is trapping game-Julius in a coffin

“Hey kids what’s up?” “Noooothing”

When game-Zia dies Carter’s like “okay I might have a healing spell”

But Cleo just shakes her head

Zia slams her hands on the table and yells “I CRUMBLE INTO POTTERY SHARDS BECAUSE I WAS ACTUALLY A SHABITI THIS WHOLE TIME!”

She’s so excited about it

The room goes wild

Jaz joins but then she has to go on vacation which is why she’s passed out for most of book 2

Sadie & Carter keep splitting up the group & Cleo is this close to strangling them

Bast doesn’t make Cleo do storylines for her when she isn’t with the main squad

Which is why she gets to be a goddess

She’s just off to the side drawing their characters

irl Felix is only there occasionally

Zia really wants them to wake her up so she can play

Cleo: “plot, Zia, plot!”

Zia: “I’ll plot your demise”

Alyssa & Julian show up for 1 battle at the start of the campaign & that’s it

irl Bes is either “I made my character ugly bc in D&D u can be something you’re not” or “my character’s main trait is ‘ugly’ bc I’m criticizing beauty standard”

Depends on his mood

Also same age as irl Bast

Bast: “is making your character in love with mine your way of flirting?”

Bes: “...no”

He played all the gods w/ Cleo in the first campaign

The two of them had too much fun

Sadie “get a can opener, there’s a god in my head” Kane actually had a can opener at one point

Bast is now designing a character who’s weapon is a can opener

Carter & Walt take bets on how long it will take for the session to devolve into yelling

Cleo argues that yelling is a productive form of communication

Sadie does too but everyone knows she’s not serious bc she has to put in headphones if too many people are yelling

It’s the ADHD

She also does the ADHD eating sugar thing

Constantly eating the snacks bc It’s Free Real Estate Dopamine

Bast never gets her own snacks she steals them from everyone else

Mainly Bes

He buys lots of cool-shaped chocolate

Cleo has one of those cardboard walls DMs sometimes have, so her snack are safe

Carter had to miss a few sessions & that’s when the running around to all the hotels thing happened

*after he comes back*

Cleo: they went through three different hotels while you were gone,

Zia: *raising her eyebrows at her*

Cleo: and now you’re in a crappy hotel,

Sadie: *kicks her under the table*
