Personally I like the space arc of TMNT 2012 more than the farmhouse arc and while not everyone will agree I think space arc’s strongest attribute is how they have a more prominent cast of recurring characters for the series.

Space arc introduced Fugitoid, Mona Lisa, Sal Commander, Chompy, Bishop and the Utroms, the Triceratons, Lord Dregg, Armaggon, etc. All recurring characters in the arc and/or came back after the space arc was over.

Farmhouse arc gave us the Punk Frogs, Bigfoot, The Creep, Dream Beavers, Speed Demon, April's "Mom", Dr Cluckingsworth MD, etc. All great characters but sadly only two of these characters ever came back/appeared in more than one ep, the rest were cursed with being a one ep only character sadly.

I think this is one of the reasons I personal prefer the space arc more than the farmhouse arc. I still adore the farmhouse arc, I just got more of a soft spot for the space arc mainly cause they had more lovable and notable characters.

Funny how the turtles just have GUNS in the space arc. I mean, why wouldn't they, I guess. It makes sense to use space guns. But they're NINJAS I cannot imagine that Splinter trained them in marksmanship 😂 it's just off enough that it had me doing a double take.

Glad they ALSO have space ninja weapons at least

For my TMNT iteration, TMNT: Reptile Rampage!!

I remembered 12!Donnie can turn his bō into a naginata, then decided to get silly with it

Explanation of why I choose these weapons/how they work under the cut!!

So first off, the Flail! (With the longest handle you've ever seen)

As you can see in the image, the 'ball-chain' part of it is a yo-yo. This yo-yo was actually Donnie's first ever invention!!! When he was a younger kid, Donnie didn't really 'invent' stuff; he saw things he found useful for the lair, looked up instructions on how to make them online, then followed those instructions to a T. While he was content with that, one day he found a broken yo-yo in the sewers, tried fixing it, and accidentally gave it sharp, protuding parts. After realizing it was a good weapon on a pinch, he had a sudden burst of inspiration, and a great satisfaction at making a brand new thing without instructions, and the rest is history!!

While he originally created the yo-yo at 12yr old, it isn't until he's 15 that he starts adding it to his bō and incorporating it into his fighting style. He just carries it with him, and if something's off his reach, throw the yo-yo at it, or alternatively, quickly tie it into one end of the staff!! It adds an extra 3m to it, maybe more as the rope is actually kinda stretchy! The bladed parts can actually be hidden within the yo-yo, and released with the press of a button! Simple and practical

Then, the Sansetsukon!

After an... incident with an unexpected enemy (💙���️⚙️), Donnie's bō gets snapped into three. However, since his particular brand of autism makes him overly empathetic and attached to inanimate objects, he decides to fix it, resulting in him getting the idea of working with his bō's injury! After bouncing ideas off his dad for a bit, he decides to rework the bō into a sansetsukon! This doesn't mean it doesn't go back to being a staff however, but it does have a hidden mechanism that, with the press of a button, breaks the bō into the three sections!! It takes Donnie a lot of practice to master this new weapon, but he's always up for a challange!

Finally, the classic Naginata!

During my iterations' space arc, Fugitoid, instead of replacing everyone's weapons straight up, makes little addendums for them, using the Heat Hologram Technology™.

Heat Holograms are, as the name implies, physical holograms made of concentrated heat at high temperatures, enough to be able to cut through almost anything! (Useful when you're going against the Triceratons' heavy armor). Heat Holograms can take on basically anyform, but since the Hamatos clearly have a theme going on, Fugitoid makes it so they don't 'clash' with the preexisting weapons, ergo, naginata! Aside from the hologram, the mechanisms at the ends of the bō gives some extra punch to its hits, and the one at the center makes it so it can return to Donatello automatically and not fall out in the vacuum of space! All in all, useful stuff that Donnie greatly appreciates

As an extra, Donnie's signature, put on all of his original creations!! It's his initials, heavily stylized.

Alright look, I know I said I’d do other characters but I started drawing Mona Lisa and can’t stop. I love Raph and Mona so much and drawing them is too much fun! I decided to add a space arc to Indie TMNT solely because of Mona (and a few other reasons, but mostly Mona)

Thinking about the "Rise!Mikey being a box turtle has serious effects on his ability to move to a new place after their lair is destroyed" setup and how it might be applicable to more iterations than rottmnt.

Like, we know 2003 & the 90s movies turtles moved house plenty of times (especially 2003. it seemed like they were getting a new lair every week sometimes) throughout their continuities.

Which makes sense! If your enemies have figured out where you live & all of your stuff gets wrecked in the process, the best course of action is to find a new place where that won't happen again (or at least take longer to happen than with the previous place).

And yet, time and time again, the 2012 and 1987 guys go back to the exact same lair and just. rebuild it. (or have it spawned back to normal by the next episode in 1987's case BUT STILL).

There are plenty of reasons for them to go back to the same place rather than find a new one, of course: emotional connection, it's logistically the easiest place to protect that they've found, the animators didn't want to learn how to draw a brand new place after who knows how many seasons of repetition, etc.

But there is so much potential in it being an instinct thing.

The shredder knows where you live.

The aliens actively hunting you down knows where you live.

Everyone you have ever faced has destroyed your home over and over again, using it to their advantage and capturing you all with little to no trouble because, again, they KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE.

This could all be solved just by moving even a couple blocks over to a different sewer canal, but you can't.

You can't even conceptualize it.

Splinter brings it up one time and never again. He can't bring himself to cause those looks a second time.

So you clean up the mess, help Donnie set up new & improved traps and security systems, and pray that this time they're enough to keep them safe.

But they never are.

I love the space arc, the turtles and their friends venture into space in search of going back in time throughout this arc we meet the best characters in the series

I want an AU where in space arc the Foot joins the turtles + April and Casey. I love the Foot and need more content with them, and I'd love to see them interacting with the turtles and Fugitoid too. Imagine it though.

Xever and Raph being actual friends (and Casey makes it even nuttier)

Chris and Mikey binging Bradford's show

TC going back to dimension X and reliving all the post trauma from their childhood

April and Karai and Mona having girl time

Ivan getting drunk in some space bar

Raph and the whole Foot all being terrified of bugs (except Baxter, he's joining the bug cult)

Leo and TC both having to manage their groups and stop them from annihilating each other

Karai and her brothers bonding

Raph, Mona, Anton, and Ivan have a double date

The Foot wishing to be humans in the wyrm episode

Chris abuses the think-food-machine thing

Everyone goes into Mikey's mind

Xever seeing Armaggon and being a jealous little (fish) bitch

Anton and Ivan meet their 80s selves with the turtles

They become a huge family at the end

The fight when they get back to Earth would be fucking insane
