It’s never explicitly stated their relationship is familial and if it were I wouldn’t dream of shipping them. Grabbing what I said from an older post here lol but Cora’s not exactly a father to Law because Law had a father he loved and cherished and there’s no replacing him—so Cora’s something else. Something…more? Just more. Or different. Their relationship is never really defined which is part of the appeal for me! Some people choose to interpret their relationship as familial, I see it as something else. Again Law already has a dad and yet he didn’t spend 13 years of his life trying to avenge his dad or his family in general, it was just Cora. Which speaks of MAJOR devotion that is different from what Law feels towards his family, to me!

Feelings can change and develop over the years so I see Law’s determination to avenge Cora (which is borderline obsessive let’s be honest lmao) eventually leading to him realizing he had some sort of feelings for him. And in an AU where Cora is alive and they reunite after everything that went down, there’s an opportunity for them to get to know each other as adults and see how much they’ve changed over the years. It’s really all just personal opinion at this point haha some people may feel differently than I do and that’s okay! You don’t have to agree with me. If you see their relationship as father/son that’s fine. I see them as equals who are so devoted to each other that there’s potential for a deeper kind of relationship. It’s in the eye of the beholder so to speak lol

But yeah like I mentioned in my tags if you’re uncomfy you can just block/blacklist the tag 👍 I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea which is totally fine and understandable so that’s why I brought it up to begin with :’)

The colors of the copper on blackberry dye seem to have shifted from maroon to a very rich milk chocolate brown--which I will hardly complain about, since that's a hard brown to get. I do hope I get something more permanently reddish/purplish with alum--that's what I'll try next. I'm just waiting for the 9 pounds of raw fleece to arrive.

Last night I carded a lot of that blackberry dyed fleece and then put it on the blending board with about half of the white (which was the previous distaff dressing) as a little stripe to one side. Idk, just curious how it'll turn out and seemed more interesting to spin that way. Carding first definitely helps with consistency--both colors were willowed first and put on the blending board, but only the brown was carded as well, and it is much easier to keep smooth and least kind of even.

The one improvement of this phone camera over my old one is that it has a timer setting, so I can actually show where my hands normally are (sometimes anyway). Fairly comfortable although my distaff hand is starting to cramp. Might just be one of those days or might be too heavy for me, but the shape at least is good.

You can probably see that the white is still all over the place, but the brown is pretty even, just with lumps still on occasion. Also, the new height of this spindle means it's perfect for lap spinning rather than impossible to lap spin with, so I'm very happy about that.

Heyyyy, I stumbled upon your blog just a few hours ago and I'm already hooked, but I am wondering about something.

So, if your Link is transmasc... uhhhh how did his top surgery go down? I don't think "ye olde medieval fantasy land" Hyrule has anyone (alive by the setting's present day) with the tools or skill to do it the modern way, and I also don't imagine magic methods would leave scars.

Sorry if I'm overthinking this, I'm just genuinely curious if there's an answer.

honestly, there's any number of answers to this. i tend to go with whatever's funniest to me (i've seen lots of "shake r stick to remove tits" jokes in the tags of that rauru drawing, which make me laugh) but i take it you're looking for a serious answer here, so i'll take off my jester cap for a moment.

i see this question a lot: "how would he have top surgery in an old time-y setting? they didn't have surgeries like that back then", and i feel like this kind of disregards the fact that this is a fantasy setting. sure, surgeries like that didn't exist in our ye olden times, but we also didn't have giant murder robots stomping around on tentacle arms, or fairies that can make a crop top deflect a sword, or so on. maybe he got purah or robbie to do it with sheikah tech! maybe, due to the fact that there are huge monsters stomping around everywhere attacking people, hyrulian medical technology is far more advanced than we realize, and they have even cosmetic surgeries (done somewhat differently, obviously, but still). maybe he got a great fairy to do it with magic, and just asked them to leave scars because it looked cool and/or he wanted to be openly transmasc. maybe, as some comics have joked, he just did it himself with the master sword, because he's built like that.

okay, i'm getting into joke territory again, but i'm sure you see my point. zelda, and most fantasy, plays by its own rules-- why do we have to return to the 'standard' rules of realism to place trans people in it? why not have fun and get creative with it, you know?

TL;DR: i don't really have a set headcanon 'this is how link got top surgery' in mind when i draw him, but there's basically infinite ways it could have happened by nature of fictional fantasy.

you know how sometimes theres some popular character and most of the fanstuff is mostly accurate on the surface but you personally have some lived experience shared w this character that enables you to have a deeper understanding of little nuances under the hood that inform things like their decision making and stuff. its on a sliding scale of accuracy of course. personally i mostly get this with my mental disorders with characters such as ogata but sometimes theres LITTLE TINY THINGS that bother me about specifically the various violence related fetishes. and the fact that it bothers me itself bothers me cuz i feel like. "oh Clearly you havent received or inflicted wounds for sexual pleasure". yes obviously they havent done that. nobody else does that. i am abnormal in nature and insane in the head

YEAH. I mean at first glance you really don’t think about it too much bc she’s invisible so it’s not like we can see her but the more you think about it. She’s a child being forced to walk around completely naked in very dangerous situations. Even looking past the lack of proper protective equipment, the fact that UA just lets her do this instead of. Idk. Investing in a costume that works with her quirk (they have an ENTIRE support course who could help with this) and encourages her, a minor, to do this is just. It’s BAD bro!!

Ciaran - I answered this one for Ciaran here!

Arsenios - This is probably a super cheesy answer, but I would say that Arrie's greatest wish is that he could trust again. He's got some serious trust issues and it bothers him because he also cares about a lot of people. He wants to trust them, but he's got that baggage that causes him to keep people at arm's length. This is part of the story where he falls for MC, so we kinda see just how far he'll go to change for them. Needless to say, there isn't much he wouldn't do.

👑 CROWN - what does your oc want to be remembered as? why?

Ciaran - I think Ciaran would want to be remembered as the fun one lol. Like I don't think they feel the need to leave any kind of epic legacy behind, but they want people to remember them as fun. Probably because that's something that matters to them now and they want people to have good memories of them.

Arsenios - I kinda think Arrie would be okay with being lost to time. Like, nobody needs to remember him, it's fine. But if they do for some reason, I think he'd want to be remembered for his music. If one person who cared for him remembered a song he wrote and sang it sometimes, that'd be enough for him. He's a simple demon, but music is everything to him and he puts his whole self into it. So someone remembering his music would be the same as someone remembering him.

🌟 GLOWING STAR - what do they think about when they look at the night sky? is there someone they want to star gaze with?

Ciaran - I suspect Ciaran is just kinda full of wonder when looking at the night sky. A sense of being tiny in a vast universe, you know? And I think Ciaran would want to star gaze with Solomon. He likely knows about the differences in the Devildom and human world sky, probably knows all the constellations, and would be able to tell Ciaran about them. Because Ciaran is curious and would ask. They might also enjoy stargazing with Belphie for this reason, but not until they become friends.

Arsenios - Due to spending a decent amount of time in the human world, Arsenios always thinks about the differences in the constellations between realms when he looks at the night sky. It's the first thing he thinks of, though that would eventually fade to just... stars are pretty lol. And of course, Arrie would want to stargaze with MC.

🌠 SHOOTING STAR - if they could make any wish with no repercussions, what wish would they make?

Ciaran - They would wish that their father didn't die when they were so young.

Arsenios - This is a little trickier. Because Arsenios has a very traumatic past experience that at first you would think he would wish to have not experienced. But it's changed him pretty dramatically and he likes who he is now more than who he used to be. I think he'd be in conflict over it. Like yeah removing that experience from his past would make a bunch of other stuff easier, but he'd also go back to being who he used to be. So I see him being a silly romantic and using his wish to give something to someone else. If that's MC, then it's probably something specific to their personality or hobbies. But if he's just giving things to his friends, I could see him wishing for Barbatos to have an endless supply of tea leaves lol. (This is also a secretly self serving wish because then he gets invited to more tea parties.)

OC Emoji Ask Game

(Note: this is a twitter crosspost with a little bit of editing and extra links, so if you saw this as a thread on my twt, then there isn’t really anything new in this post, unless you never saw my Freshly Tatted Baby Waz art since the main thing I added was a link to it.)

One of my drafts, “Scars and Ink”, is about Irumyuui comparing her marked skin to Vueko and Belaf’s scars. The parallel that all three of them bear physical evidence of violence/abuse has always struck me as incredibly poignant and folding well into the parallel we were already invited to draw between Vueko and Belaf’s scars and how the two might regard these reminders of what they’ve lived through. Anyway, I wondered if it would belabor the story to add a smol moment with Wazukyan; they aren’t close, of course, and the focus of the story will remain on Irumyuui’s relationship with her parents, but it feels like a great opportunity to incorporate that Waz has tattoos, which i headcanon as rooted in trauma like Iru’s own tattoos.

Corollary: I struggle to pin down a precise estimate on how upset or resentful Vueko, Belaf, and Irumyuui as individuals ever actually were with *him* and the agency he had in the situation, but to me, canon hints strongly B and V far more blamed themselves. As for Iru….hmmm. Well. I wonder.

The entirety of Irumyuui’s character/feelings and how it’s handled by the narrative is very interesting. Some folks have said they found Irumyuui undercharacterized; while I respect where they’re coming from I disagree. Instead a lot of her characterization is presented indirectly, blanks we must fill in reading between the lines, versus her actual scenes and dialogue.

Wishes and desires made manifest is, of course, of central importance of the Ganja/village arc. And it was irumyuui’s wishes and feelings and their manifestations that were the most important of all — yet there is explicit textual mystery to the shape and extent of those wishes.

Vueko, Belaf, and Faputa all have their own necessarily partial and biased guesses on how she really felt, what she really wanted, and how that shaped the events that came to pass. Besides input from these characters, we can also glean information from the village’s function. Why did Irumyuui give what she gave to Belaf and then all the other Ganja (except Vueko)? What does that say about how she felt towards them? We are invited to answer for ourselves.

imho a crucial element of Faputa’s growth during the climactic events is that she reassesses her self conception in light of receiving new information on Irumyuui, because she reevaluated what Iru “really wanted” as well as accepting the incompleteness of her prior knowledge. To me this part is also the text itself engaging with the viewer and inviting us to draw conclusions on how Irumyuui really felt, what she wanted, whether she ever really wanted revenge or simply the end of her own suffering, whether she ever assigned blame at all.

I think of this sort of thing as characterizing through the use of negative space. Afaik this is not a real storytelling term, I made it up lol, but I’m getting at something a bit more specific than just “the story leaves something ambiguous” (also something different from “this isn’t even in the story so we can decide it ourselves”, which I’ve also been known to describe using the concept of negative space as a metaphor for...oops sorry!) That is, although it seems at first that some element is not clear or specified, upon a second look we find that the outlines which are around that white patch of canvas contain the shapes and clues that give you a pretty good idea of what is in it.
