#to fit my specifications for an ideal boyfriend. not like.. ridiculously good looking or anything but he had nice hair and a kind face

I have a long and varied list of regrets, but possibly the funniest one is the time my former flatmate had a friend over and I saw that he was hot so I went “not today Satan” and hid in my bedroom until he left
#i was fucking.. cooking my dinner and sb walked in with this man who had to be at least 6’3 and looked like someone had tried to build him#to fit my specifications for an ideal boyfriend. not like.. ridiculously good looking or anything but he had nice hair and a kind face#and i immediately thought ‘oh no’ and then sb introduced me to him and he said ‘hi ellen nice to meet you’ and i babbled some similar words#and took my food and left. and i could hear that everyone else was hanging out downstairs and drinking but i was just like.. no#not today satan. i don’t want to know what the deal is with this man. i just don’t#i did have to pack for easter break anyway (i was literally leaving early the next morning) so i used that as my excuse#but like. realistically i just looked a perfectly nice man in the face and just thought ‘i can’t do this. i’m not simping tonight’#because the thing is; i have this curse on me where romance simply does not happen to me. so it would’ve been a complete waste of time#i can tell you exactly what happened in the parallel universe where i went down to the living room to talk to him#and it is SWEET FUCK ALL#i would’ve spent the whole night pathetically trying to impress him and failing miserably because i’m literally not impressive#and then i would’ve hated myself for being a pickme. like. i just wasn’t in the mood lmao#it’s still something i would list as a regret because like.. who knows if god sent that man to me and he was supposed to be my soulmate#i do feel like when i die god is going to send me to hell for stuff like this. he’s going to be like ‘you LITERALLY didn’t have to leave#your house… i was sending men to you and you just ignored them’#you should’ve made me better at flirting with people i actually like then. that’s all i can say#personal

MY SECOND DATE.
content warning for angst & character death. 3,044 words. inspired by the k-drama “while you were sleeping” and red velvet’s “my second date”.
author’s note: i’m sorry dis is actual Shit. >____< i have a thing where i think of sad fic ideas while listening to cute, happy songs and this is one of them!! i have a lot more ideas based off the red songs in the perfect red velvet but this is the one that stuck to me the most :] i think this has been in my drafts for two years already, yikes.
deep breaths.
you closed your hands and grasped jaemin’s hand tightly.
one.
two.
three.
4:07 pm.
jaemin was bound to be here any moment now, you thought as you shuffled through your makeup bag for that one shade of lipstick you knew he loved. today is your second date with your boyfriend of a year, which was a fact that your friends found ridiculous when you told them about it.
because of your very busy schedules, you two saw each other rarely and relied only on texts and video calls for communication. you were surprised jaemin had the actual patience to keep a relationship like this, since you knew that he was the kind who constantly craved to be in the presence of the person he loved.
you didn’t expect to be with him. to put it straight, you two were just drastically different from one another. jaemin was always bright, from the way he smiled to the way his hair colour changed constantly. he was the actual personification of an ideal summer morning, a picnic under the warm sunlight where you lay on the grass and smell the dew against your cheek, feeling the refreshing burst of watermelon and strawberries meeting your tongue. always smelling of roses and that one expensive brand of cologne you wanted to sink your face into.
and you? well, you hated being bright. you hated sunny days. you hated summer. you hated roses (god, you really despised roses and jaemin knew perfectly well of that). you hated that specific brand of cologne, but with jaemin, you soon grew to love them to the point your constant need for him to be by your side was almost insatiable.
when you two met, it was sudden. an actual cliche. probably something you could see in those romantic korean dramas you watched when you were bored during work. a force made you bump into a strong figure in your favourite coffee shop, the content of your cup spilling down both of your shirts. when you met his eyes, you feared for your life. he looked like a mean boy, again like one of those spoiled rotten bitches from dramas who’d slap you with a stack of their money for simply staring at them. but instead of the expected sneer, he gave you a big genuine smile that spread a small warmth in your stomach  that didn’t leave you for days. apologies quickly left your lips as you tried your best to clean up his shirt for him with the tissue you were holding, but he stopped your wiping when he reassured that it was okay and that he didn’t like that shirt anyways. you felt so embarrassed that you thought you were going to die that moment. a blush soon grew on your cheeks as you noticed the growing outline of his toned stomach through the damp fabric.
he introduced himself shortly as na jaemin, an idol from a quite popular boy group. you didn’t recognize him and weren’t into boy groups at all since you were too immersed in your career to actually pay attention to everything else, but it didn’t come out as a surprise that he was some sort of celebrity — people in the coffee shop were already pointing at the two of you and whispering urgently into each other’s ears behind their hands as their eyes raked you from head to toe, probably making up a rumour of some sort and judging you for the bungou stray dogs t-shirt you decided to wear today. your ears went hot as you realized the sudden attention and jaemin led you out of the shop once he noticed your flustered state, not before apologizing repeatedly to the staff for the sudden uproar that you two have caused.
you found out that he snuck out of the dormitories with his other members to walk around since promotional season just ended. he wasn’t expecting to be out this late when you reminded him of the time. he said that he didn’t want to leave you and stayed with you until a taxi came by. before riding the taxi, jaemin asked you if you two could exchange numbers, since he wanted to pay for the coffee that was spilled on him. you told him that he didn’t have to yet he insisted, so you grabbed his phone with a pout and typed your number in as he did the same. just before you left he smiled at you and pulled out one of his spare sweatshirts from his bag and pulled it over your head.
“so you wouldn’t be cold.” he spoke shortly, before opening the door of the taxi and closing it once you got inside, but not before he shot a wink at you and away you drove.
you had to admit, you were scared that he forgot about you. you were trying to forget about the boy named na jaemin who you met accidentally, because it wasn’t like he’d be actually interested in you. you did a little bit of research on him and indeed, he’s an idol from a group named nct. you started listening to their songs and you can’t call yourself a fan, but you do enjoy hearing their music.
two days after meeting na jaemin, you weren’t expecting a sudden notification from him while  listening to an ep by the subunit nct 127. you had to put your mug of green tea down, pause the song which you checked was named “jet lag”, and stare at the notification before tapping it and contemplating whether you should reply or not. he asked you how you were doing, apologized that he hadn’t checked on you right away if you got home safely since he was busy, and introduced himself again just in case you had no idea who he was.
the conversation was pretty awkward, but you tried not to think about it too much. you didn’t know each other that well yet and you were still testing the waters, both of you saying “no you” so many times that it drove you mad. you reminded him of the sweatshirt he left you, and asked when he was free so you could give it back to him. he told you that you could keep it and consider it as one of his “payments”, the other payment being a coffee date.
you had to draw back from your phone for a whole minute before sitting down on your bed and screeching into your pillow, phone in hand. he had asked you on a date so smoothly that it took you a few rereads before you got the meaning behind his message, and when it hit you, you felt blood rushing to your cheeks— a feeling that left you a little lightheaded.
you agreed on the date.
it happened later that week, on a friday. he told you to dress comfortably and thickly since you were going to watch a movie before going to a coffee shop so it might be a little chilly. you decided to wear the sweatshirt he gave you, basking in the strong scent of his cologne that made your ears go red as you thought of the way he smiled and flirted with you. you hated cologne, absolutely hated it. you felt sick whenever you got a slight sniff of it and the cologne jaemin wore was similar to the cologne your annoying coworker you sat next to at work wore, so it made you confused as to why you suddenly liked it (but it’s not like you were complaining).
the rest of your relationship went pretty smoothly, which surprised you. you thought you weren’t going to get along pretty well because of his flirty personality and the lack of patience you have for people like him. jaemin’s honey-like voice calling out to you, giving you compliments about the littlest of things like how the earrings you wore for today’s date fit you so well, and the way he’d act all cute and pouty whenever you rolled your eyes at him and his flirtatious advances— you usually found such things uninteresting, repetitive, annoying— but with jaemin, you found yourself slowly falling for him.
as you started dating, you and jaemin practically shared everything with each other. embarrassing stories that still haunt both of you to this day, your deepest darkest secrets, your fears, your interests, your aspirations, the strangest things that have happened and are still happening to you. you both agreed that it was a good way to communicate with each other, so that there wouldn’t be any feeling of doubt and embarrassment between you two.
but the only strange thing about you that he didn’t know about was you often had dreams that came true since you were just a child. sure, it sounds pretty ridiculous, but you didn’t know any other way to explain it to others without sounding a little crazy. you thought the same thing about jaemin. a part of you thought that he’d react normally to it since he loves you way too much to think negatively of you in any way (a thought that brought a small smile on your face), but another part thought that he’d probably find it strange in a way.
these dreams sometimes involve people who are close to you, but sometimes you see people who you have never met once in your life. most of your dreams aren’t that bad. some dreams end up being good, some end up being so gruesome to the point you were scared to go to sleep. you eventually lost count of the late nights where you laid awake in your bed, eyes fighting to stay open for you were afraid you’d see the bloody scenes that were practically imprinted on your eyelids again. you knew there’d be a new murder investigation by the moment you woke up the following morning or another car accident broadcast on the news for the whole country to see.
you couldn’t do anything about these dreams. you didn’t know how to stop having them or how to stop the things happening in them, but it wasn’t like you didn’t try. you saw a close friend of yours, seulgi, get into an accident during one of her friends’ summer out-of-town trip in one of your dreams where luckily she came out alive, but she suffered many major injuries that left her bedridden for months. you tried to convince her to stay in the city for at least one more day the night she was about to leave, but she insisted she needed to get out of the city to relieve some stress as soon as possible and your pleas fell on deaf ears.
as much as you tried to do something, you knew that whatever you’ll see is fate and who were you to go against that? even if it sounded way too hopeless to admit, you were only an observer, helpless in this situation.
you heard the front door slam shut once you were done applying the lipstick on, smacking your lips together and seeing if you missed any spots or overdrew. you looked up to see your boyfriend leaning against the doorframe, looking fresh with his freshly dyed grey hair and smiling down at your dressed up state.
“i really love that shade on you, baby,” he murmured, leaning down to press a kiss on your forehead before setting his bag and cap on the bed.
“that’s why i picked it for today,” you giggled and you saw the big grin on his face through the mirror, watching him undress and rummage through the closet for his clothes. “are you going to wear that one dress shirt?”
“you know me way too well, y/n,” jaemin laughed and pulled out the exact dress shirt you were talking about.
it looked simple, like any dress shirt would look like— a crisp white with translucent buttons lining down the front, but he always looked so handsome in it.
“of course i do,” you chuckled as he buttoned his shirt on, stopping midway once he saw you standing up from your chair and making your way towards him. you replaced the fingers on his shirt with yours and buttoned the last three two buttons on his shirt.
jaemin hooked his fingers under your chin, facing your head up so that you were looking at him. the look of pure adoration in his eyes made you swallow harshly and a shy shade of pink dust over your cheeks. he never failed to make you feel like this, as if you hadn’t been dating for a year already. your friends always told you that their boyfriends weren’t this affectionate after a year of being together, but you guessed that jaemin was different from them.
you were lucky he was different.
he leaned down to press a kiss on your lips and you kissed back eagerly, balancing yourself with tipped toes to kiss him deeper. you whined when he pulled away, a teasing smile on his face when he saw the pout on your lips.
“doing that won’t make me kiss you again, baby,” jaemin cooed, pinching your cheeks and smiling wider at the frustrated whine you let out. “anyways, we’ll be late for our reservation if we continue.”
“why?” you teased, walking to the mirror besides the bed to look at yourself and adjusting the dress you were adorned in. “you can’t resist me, can you?”
“you know i can’t.”
you looked back at your boyfriend and smiled at him, sticking your tongue at him before grabbing your purse from the bedside table.
god, you were going to miss this.
you bit back the tears that threatened to fall as you and jaemin exited out of the room, both dressed and ready to go outside. you swore you could bask in his scent all day long and you’d never get tired of it, the soft scent surrounding the car as you both got in and he pulled from the driveway.
as usual, jaemin’s unoccupied hand met yours once he started driving, his attention at the road not wavering once. you could only stare at his side profile and wonder to yourself what you did in your past life to deserve this kind of view right now.
you felt your heart swell, a mix of sadness and adoration swirling in your stomach and making it twist; you adjusted yourself on the carseat and looked ahead, fingers intertwining with jaemin’s.
you were really going to miss this.
last week, you saw yourself dying in your dream.
since jaemin had absolutely no idea that you had these occurring strange dreams that always end up happening, he thought that you were only having a nightmare so when you sat up in the middle of the night, a drop of sweat running down your cheek and eyes teary, he held you in his arms as you cried into his shoulder until you fell asleep, the bloody images still visible in your mind as you dozed off.
jaemin brought it up the following morning over breakfast and asked what happened in your dream that made you heave and struggle for breath the night prior. you shook your head and refused to answer him, jaemin soon stopped asking and didn’t pry any more into the situation as you stuffed his mouth with toast with a sleepy smile on your face.
what you saw in your dream was exactly what happened a few minutes ago; you were getting ready for a date with jaemin (you were adorned in the same shade of lipstick you were wearing right now), the time in your clock was the same, 4:07pm, the way jaemin looked at you was the same, even the featherlike brush of his lips against yours felt the same.
just as you were nearing the restaurant you made a reservation in, a loud honk startled both of you and jaemin, making you let go of his hand that wasn’t occupied by the steering wheel. just mere seconds before the car got hit, you remember looking at your watch and reading 4:49pm.
in your dream, you saw the aftermath of the accident. the images made you feel sick to the stomach as the photographs from the crash flashed on the screen, blurred so that it wouldn’t look as disturbing as the real thing but people could still see the skid marks smeared with hints of a deep red left on the streets through the filter.
the news anchor was talking about the accident the day prior while the headline flashed through the television screen— y/n y/l/n, victim of a brutal drunk driving accident in seoul, 20, pronounced dead at the scene. apparently, the truck driver was drunk during his shift and he was still yet to be found after he fled the scene, after a glint of fear appeared in his eyes after seeing your practically deformed body hanging out of the car’s windshield, limp and lifeless.
the silence in the car made you feel uneasy, heart beating in your chest way too fast and teeth biting onto your lips to not breathe so hastily and alarm jaemin.
you remembered yourself in the dream mumbling:
one two three.
before the truck made an impact with the car.
your eyes darted to your watch, the hands aimed at 4:48pm.
deep breaths.
you looked over at jaemin, and finally let the tears fall from your eyes. you grasped his hand tighter and inhaled deeply, holding it up to your lips and pressing a small kiss on the soft skin. you couldn’t see his face, vision becoming blurry as more tears fell, but you could feel a smile growing on his lips.
this time, you didn’t want to let go of him.
“jaemin.”
one.
“yes, baby?”
you were going to miss him.
two.
so fucking much.
you let out a little laugh, choking on your own sobs and jaemin was so clueless to it all as he finally looked at you, his concern growing when he saw your tear-streaked face.
three.
“i’m happy i get to spend my last day with you.”

This is going to be a ramble about weight, exercise, body image and the patriarchy. Warning for negative self-talk.
The last time I talked about those issues was last September. What happened since then was, I read Christy Harrison’s book Anti-Diet, which was very good, and the last edition of Intuitive Eating, which was less so. Regardless, I thought the concept of intuitive eating and never having to restrict what I eat again sounded fabulous. So I tried that for a bit.
Since the last time I weighed myself, about a year ago, I’ve put on thirteen kilos. Which I was made aware of as my clothing size changed and nothing fit me anymore (as it turns out, getting fat is expensive as fuck), but did not quite hit home until I had a weigh-in at the doctor’s two days ago.
There is no particular point to me writing this, and I really do NOT want this to sound like “I tried intuitive eating and got fat, now I think it sucks”. Things are so much more complex than that, and I also think that intuitive eating is wonderful. I just really do not know what to do of all the thoughts in my head at this point and I need to put them into writing.
The idea Christy Harrison and others put forward is that you do not have to eat in a way that feels unsatisfying to you and that, similarly, you do not have to exercise if it makes you feel like shit. Did exercising make me feel like shit? Indeed it did not, but I did start doing it in order to lose weight. And I thought you know what? I do not think it is right, as a feminist -- I think it is hypocritical to be doing something in order to maintain an ideal weight as per the patriarchal standard of the day.
My friend Moggo pointed out when I talked to him about this the other day that regardless of my own personal reasons for doing it, exercise is good for you, and that, in his opinion, is reason enough to keep doing it. I wish my mind worked in those straightforward, logical ways. I was at a point, back in September, when I had quit exercising for the summer because it got to 30°C plus in my old flat which made it next to impossible to work out without passing out. When autumn started to roll around I was just like?? What if I never worked out ever again?? This in spite of the fact that as I said, I do not hate exercise -- I like to pretend that I do, but in fact I’ve found lots of way to enjoy it (and remove the parts I hate from my routine).
I have a history of disordered eating. It was worse when I was in middle school, then again in undergrad. Since then I’ve had things mostly under control, but, as I’ve come to realise, that was only for as long as my weight remained stable. Before I gave up on restricting and exercising, I’d done a month without added sugars. I’d downloaded My Fitness Pal, got scared of how little I allowed myself to eat when using it, and finally deleted it. I don’t think that I have a specific disorder or anything -- sadly, I just think my experience with body image is pretty standard under patriarchy.
My point is, I was mindful of the desperate, ridiculous things I’d been doing to maintain my weight, and I was afraid things were going to get out of hand. I thought in order to prevent this, I needed a big swing in the other direction.
Am I going to be that person whose weight is always yo-yoing now? I’m only saying this because I have reached the point where I can safely say that intuitive eating and doing stretches like twice a month is not working for me.
As I have said, I think intuitive eating is a great concept. How do you implement it, however, when you have been restricting your entire life -- and it’s been, for the most part, working? More than seven months in, intuitive eating for me still means eating chocolate chip cookies pretty much every night. Things did not stabilise, and I can’t stand the idea of waiting any longer to see whether or not they eventually will. I just can’t stand being in this body anymore. Although I can’t stand, either, the idea that it makes me a fatphobe and a bullshit feminist.
This means a myriad of things. One of them is, that I don’t think there will be a safe middle ground for me. It’s either remain fat, or start back on the restricting-and-exercising routine that I maintained for about 14 months in 2019-2020. I can’t safely “eat til you’re not hungry anymore”, not without putting on a significant amount of weight. And it really sucks that I’m in this position.
The other thing that fucks me off is that, if I’m being honest, I have to admit that I would never have given up on my “healthy lifestyle” or whatever you want to call it if I had not found a perfect boyfriend right around this time. I knew he’d love me regardless of my weight. And I think that made me slip into that other sexist stereotype: the woman who “lets herself go” as soon as she finds a partner. I hate that that is a concern but it is. I hate that I am vain enough to want the approval of men who wouldn’t like me at my current weight.
This is the main thing. Other things I wanted to say on intuitive eating:
I’ve always thought the flaw with intuitive eating was that it was made for chronic dieters, and really I’ve never been a chronic dieter so much as a person who restricted for her entire life, and whose weight, before this year, never much varied. My problem, if it is to be called one, is that this worked really well. My incentive to give it up was just to “do the right thing” and to give intuitive eating a try. And that did not work for me.
Also I don’t think I’ve ever been on board all the way with the idea that what you eat and how much you move your body has a much smaller impact on health than generally assumed. (I am on board, on the other hand, with the idea that you don’t owe health to anyone.)
I’m in this position where I hate when people say that fat people are too lazy to exercise, but in my own personal case, I did get fat because I was too lazy to exercise.
People who are into intuitive eating will say there is no possible way of taking it too far, but I do wonder if there is something the matter with me, or with implementing that way of thinking in the contemporary world, like I can’t believe there’s any possibility that my body really “needs” this many Oreos and sugary drinks.
I tried to talk about this with my sister but there is no way a size S girl will ever understand what I am going through, I think. I do think I deserve some of her contempt though.
Anyway I’m starting back on my old routine. I’ve got the equipment. I’ve got the playlists. I objectively feel better when I work out, but I don’t think I can keep working out without also watching what I eat. It is true, on the other hand, that eating three pieces of chocolate cake in one day doesn’t make me feel good either. Things are complicated and there is no satisfying conclusion to this.
*
Side note if you made it this far: I am very much NOT looking for advice, thank you.

Under the Sea
Mermaid AU
Word Count: 5K
Harry has always loved the ocean.
Despite his status, being the heir of a sum of money most people would kill to have, and owning a wardrobe of clothes hand tailored to fit him perfectly, he enjoys nothing more than taking his father’s yacht (that he considers his, given that his father only owns it to gloat, and never actually uses it) and sailing into the vast blue ocean situated right next to his oversized home.
And although his mother continuously scolds him, telling him of the dangers of the ocean and possibility of falling overboard, Harry always reassures her that he’s a fully grown up man and that he can handle the responsibility of sailing. He tells her he’s done it his entire life, and gives her a small peck on the cheek, smiling in reassurance before walking out of the home to sail again.
But later tonight, he has more than just a simple sailing trip planned.
Noelle has held Harry’s attention for the past year. Yet, it seems that she’s always too preoccupied or he’s always too much of a wimp to confront her. He spends his spare time stalking her on social media, or imagining unhealthily what her silky blonde hair feels like between his fingertips. It’s almost sad how much he seems to adore the idea of her. So when Noelle marched angrily into Harry’s living room during the middle of one of their friendly hang outs, yelling angrily about how her father had to use their boat for business, so she subsequently couldn’t use it for her upcoming birthday party, it’s no surprise that Harry jumps in to offer his own yacht up for her use.
Watching the day prior as Noelle hired people to adorn his yacht with chrome banners and cover his tables with pink tablecloths, he’s a bit irked at the new state of his boat. But as she hugs him, her height in her tall heels perfect to mold into his, he doesn’t regret his impulsive decision as much.
So the morning of her party, he takes one of his father’s smaller boats. The vehicle is a bit smaller than he’s used to, but the organizers are still lingering on his own original boat. So without a second thought, he takes it to clear out his fucking head from all of its stress about tonight. He wonders if it’s finally the correct place to make a move on her, he considers finally admitting his feelings to the girl he’s admired for so long.
The salty ocean air whooshes past his face as he accelerates the boat to go a little faster. He feels content with the smell of the ocean filling the cramped space in his head, loosening it just a bit. He closes his eyes, admiring the feeling of the breezy boat.
He’s been sailing for about 10 minutes when he sees the familiar black rock resting on the horizon, waves crashing into it violently. He specifically remembers sailing with his grandfather when he was younger. He had pointed the large rock out to his grandpa, speaking of how it would be a good mark to pinpoint how far the boat had gone out, to which his grandfather replied,
“That rock is much more than a bookmark, my dear. It’s rumored by many that it’s the home of a mermaid.”
Harry remembers scoffing in absurdity at the statement, almost laughing at how ridiculous it sounded. Mermaids, of all things. Creatures that were most likely made up by an old drunk, he thinks. Shaking his head at the mere memory, he returns to boating with a smile on his face.
His boat hits something, a loud thunk sound resonating as it sputters and then stops. He briefly lifts his foot off of the pedal before stepping on it again, and the engine makes a roaring sound but refuses to move forward any.
He reaches into his back pocket to grab his phone, remembering it hadn’t charged at all so he had plugged it into his bedside socket before rushing out of his large home quickly. He hits the dashboard, as if that’ll suddenly fix the boat, and attempts stepping on the pedal again.
Groaning in defeat, he lays his forehead against the steering wheel of the boat, stressful thoughts stirring around in the small space of his head. He doesn’t hear anything but the sound of seagulls squawking in the background, and when he lifts his head, he looks around to see no other boats in sight.
Harry’s proper panicking by now, repeatedly pressing buttons he knows won’t fix any of the problems on the boat. He’s just so frustrated, that this stupid mistake that happened by complete chance may be the reason he misses the party. He thinks that the universe hates him, and that it’s dooming his luck and happiness completely.
He steps on the pedal one final time in frustration, grunting in anger as he keeps his pressure on the engine. He’s shocked, however when he jerks forward and realizes the small boat is moving again.
Harry was almost positive the problem was the result of a motor issue, which requires above ground maintenance when it occurs. He’s shocked beyond belief when he turns his boat back around, not taking any more chances before he aims to return to land.
And for a second he thinks his eyes are playing tricks on him, but he swears that as he spins the boat into the opposite direction, he sees a head of shiny hair bobbing above the surface, accompanied by a set of glimmering eyes and a hand holding a piece of his motor.

Harry sits nervously, wiping his sweaty hands against his khakis as he plays out what exactly he’s going to say inside his head for the 100th time.
“Thank you so much for coming to my 25th!” Noelle raises her glass in a prolonged toast, telling everyone all about how much she appreciates them being there but Harry drones out as he admires her. She’s dressed in a velvety pink dress, the fuzzy material running merely from the tops of her breasts to the upper parts of her thighs, hugging her frame. He can practically see some of her grade school friends from long ago - some drunk and some sober, with a few teetering in between - oggling her curves. He can’t say he isn’t irritated, but as much as he is angry he reminds himself that he has no right to be.
Seeing as his third cup of nonalcoholic apple juice is empty, he approaches the deck to get more. His entire boat is decked out in sparkles and pink material, something that isn’t ideal for someone who enjoys boating itself more than accessorizing, but he ignores it because it’s for her. He leaves the room for a while, admiring the waves of air wisping across his face
He grasps the almost full pitcher of apple juice (He’s the only one at the party who’s drinking it), pouring it up until the glass is almost entirely full. He never was a fan of confined spaces or partying, or maybe he simply wasn’t a fan of the lifestyle those around him seemed to hold. Ever since secondary school friendships had been built on designer brands and the names of a classmate’s parents. Relationships were more materially beneficial than emotionally.
So when he met Noelle, who had a history of dating boys without any sort of status because she didn’t believe status defined emotion, he fell head over heels for the idea of someone liking him for himself.
Harry hears applause leaking from the doorway of the boat. He assumes her toast has ended, and concludes that it’s his chance to finally speak to Noelle in peace. Taking a deep breath, and checking his appearance in the reflection, fluffing his hair with his palm one more time, he walks through the doorway to the inside of the party.
He’s quite overwhelmed. There’s a loud bass blaring in the background, and there are people grinding in various places. He hears glass breaking, and preys that Noelle hired a man to clean up all of the messes, knowing it’s inevitable for someone not to throw up during the course of the party. With every steps he takes, he flinches at the condition with which people are treating his beloved boat. He pull through the masses of people, groaning at the sweaty bodies pressing against him temporarily. He finally manages to break out of the crowd, approaching the other side of the boat to see Noelle.
With her arms locked around a tall blonde boys neck. His dress shirts holds an expensive, recognizable logo, and Harry swear he’ll never wear the same brand again. He immediately feels a plethora of emotions rush towards him, but above all, he feels hurt.
“Noelle?” He gently murmurs. She shifts her gaze towards him, clearing her throat as she realizes he’s noticed her actions.
“Harry!” She mutters excitedly, to fill the awkward silence she created. He looks at her, tears pooling at his soft jade eyes. His fists clench beside him, and he feels like an upset child. Only instead of feeling hurt from being scolded by his mother, he’s hurt from the amount of anger he feels. Not only at Noelle, but at himself. For letting her bring her stupid decorations into his boat, and let stupid rich snobs break tequila glasses and throw up all over his beloved possession.
“Hey” He tries to say enthusiastically, failing miserably when his voice cuts off in the middle.
He should’ve known that she wasn’t at all interested in him. Should’ve figured that she was just using him for his money, to throw parties on his expensive yacht like everyone else had ever done.
“This is my boyfriend, Mason” She introduces him. He says a friendly “What up man?” and extends his hand out for Harry to shake, a silver Rolex decorating his veiny wrist. Harry unknuckles his fists, stretching out his fingers before shakily grasping Mason’s, muttering a low “S’nice to meet you.” The words mentally drain him, considering its the last thing he’s feeling in actuality. So right after his very brief introduction to Noelle’s boyfriend, he excuses himself, attempting to walk away from the balcony of the boat.
But the universe, really, really doesn’t seem to be working in his favor today. So instead of successfully walking back to the other side of the boat to drown his sorrows in apple juice like he’d hoped, he stands next to the railing just as the boat hits a large bump, sending him tumbling over the balcony and slapping into the cold water below. The last thing he hears is Noelle’s scream as he shoots down into the deepening water, seeing a silhouette and big eyes swimming towards him, losing consciousness after that.
Y/N had been happening to collect objects that morning. Well, specifically valuable parts for a tower she’s building in an abandoned cave she’s deemed her home underwater. She had been doing this for a while, stealing small items from humans who didn’t need them and piling them up into a sculpture in her safe cave underwater. She then would proceed to sell them at a nearby pawn shop, using the money to fund her human life, or bring snacks to the old homeless lady who slept on the beach. So when a boat suddenly stopped, a motor piece from another boat stuck and stopping it from moving, she couldn’t help herself from reaching her slender arm up and yanking the spare piece out, deciding to add it to her sculpture down under.
And while she was above water temporarily - after making sure there were no pesky humans around, of course - to get a better look at her new possession, she happened to catch a glimpse of a tall boy, steering his boat away, glowy eyes gazing into her own.
Y/N’s been smitten ever since.
She even went above ground for a moment, walking around the far too pricey shops on the oceanside just to see if he was lingering around there. But even she wasn’t that stupid, she knew very well that humans weren’t like her kind, and that they liked to roam around everywhere and overpopulate the Earth. So she accepted the disappointing idea that she may not see him ever again, and jumped back into the ocean, blending with the water once again.
Later that night, just as she was finishing her sculpture of valuable things she’s claimed from the surface, she hears a scream from above the water (she was at a very shallow area). Startled, she decides to near the sound, only to find a boat quickly turning around and a stream of bubbles leading downwards.
She figures someone dropped something important, or foolish people drank more than they were supposed to, like they always did, and pushed some litter into the blue water. So she swims after the bubbles, hoping to find something valuable she can add to her sculpture of things to pawn for cash in the world above ground.
But after following the trail, she is met with a boy, a familiar boy dressed in an expensive branded, half buttoned shirt. His eyes open and close narrowly as he slips out of reality, fading closer to the ocean floor. Y/N swims further down, grasping his hand and pulling him up, wrapping an arm around his soft waist and swimming towards the surface.
She plops him down on the large black rock, the only surface nearby, and she presses on his chest, watching as he coughs up water but refuses to wake up. She takes her time to admire his features, soft cheeks and inked chest and all, swiping his hair from off of his eyes. She sees a series of shiny rings on his fingers. And as much as she wants to steal them, she restrains herself because she likes him so far.
She curls up next to him resting her legs beside his on the large rock, staring up at the stars and appreciating the time she has before the afternoon boats arrive in the area.

Harry’s head hurts when he wakes up.
At first, he’s convinced he’s passed away, the only memory he has being of  the cold water slapping his torso. He’s almost afraid to open his eyes, groaning at how sore he feels, jagged surfaces pushing into the skin on his back.
Y/N waits for him to awaken. She hears a groan from beside of her, immediately moving to press her hands into the rocky surfaces next to his head. He squints, a crease forming in his forehead at the bright light. She quickly covers the sun, shielding his face from the rays of light.
Harry opens his eyes, blinking once before closing them again. Everything seems blurry, and he doesn’t know why his head is in such pain when he specifically remembers withholding from drinking.
He opens them once again, clearly seeing the blue skies in front of him, and wondering where the sun is. That’s when he notices the silhouette blocking his view of the sun, blinking again to get a better look at her.
Harry adjusts his eyes for another moment, finally opening them. And when he does, he swears he’s died and gone to heaven. He doesn’t think that humans glow in that way, doesn’t believe that they have flawless skin and lashes that long. Her eyes widen as he acknowledges her finally, and her cheeks quickly redden when he props himself up on his elbows.
She feels embarrassed, moving to jump into the ocean and swim away. She scrambles to readjust the swimsuit she put on to seem human,  preparing to leap back into the water. But before she has the opportunity, he grabs her arm, pulling her to look at him.
“Who are you?” he asks, emerald eyes burning into the side of her face. Her half-dried hair messily falls across her face, blocking his view of her features.
“I-uh” She doesn’t even know what to say, because she hasn’t spoken to anyone in so long. The closest thing to a conversation she’d ever had was when she would yell at the screen at the cinema, or try to understand what Marge the homeless lady was rambling on about.
She becomes embarrassed at the sound of her voice, imagining how unappealing it must sound. She doesn’t want to embarrass herself in front of someone so attractive, so she shyly shuts her mouth, tucking her hair behind her ear as she waits for him to speak again.
“Where am I?” He asks her, looking around to see nothing but the ocean in the distance. He still stares expectantly, as she looks like she wants to say something but ends up closing her mouth.
“You...fell” She manages to squeak out. He nods, remembering that part of his stupid misfortune. He wants to press on, but doesn’t want to press her into questioning.
“Did you save me?” He asks her taking a small tip of her long hair into his fingers and fidgeting with it as he awaits a response. He watches as the hair shuffles from her nod and smiles, admiring her kindness. It had been a while since anyone had done anything for Harry, and he finds it heroic that some girl managed to jump into the ocean and rescue him. He doesn’t remember any of his own friends attempting to save him, even.
“Are you friends with Noelle? I mean, I guess that would be the only other reason for you to swim after me.” He tries to spark up conversation. And although speaking of Noelle is painful, he figures they have some sort of relationship to solidify the reasoning of who she actually is. She pulls her eyebrows towards her forehead, signifying confusion before whispering a hoarse, “Who’s that?”
She’s cute, Harry thinks.
“Noelle? The girl who hosted the party on the boat last night. You jumped after me when I fell, right?” he asks her, a smile painted on his face. He stares at the girl who saved his life, happy that he’s still fucking alive.
She shakes her head, and it’s Harry’s turn to be confused.
“Well then how did you know I fell?” he asks her expectantly. She hesitates, pondering her response in her head before licking her lips and finally answering.
“I live here.”
Harry snaps his neck, looking around once more to make sure they’re still the only people within the mile.
“You live…” He points his finger down, motioning to the rock they’re situated on, “Here?”
She nods, cutting herself off with words, “Well, technically it’s underneath here.” She tells hm. He’s even more confused, because all he sees is water. He wonders if she’s some marine biologist and she lives in some submarine tank under the sea.
They sit for a while in tense silence, Harry wondering who the hell she is and why the hell she saved him. She spends her time looking at the color of his eyes, wanting to add the same green color to every piece of clothing sfe owns. She decides green may be her favorite color, from now on.
“My parents are probably worried as fuck.” He states. Y/N widens her eyes, quickly moving to cover his mouth with her small hand. He widens his eyes at her actions.
“You shouldn’t say words like that.” She remembers a movie she watched once, where an elderly woman clearly scolded a boy for using the word, saying it was rude and demeaning. She wasn’t really used to the human way of life, the closest thing she knew to human conversations were the annoying boys who did nothing but eat at the same barbecue place at the dock every morning, speaking far too loudly and probably waking Marge up, as she’d complained to Y/N a couple of times about them.
Harry chuckles, peeling her hand off of his face before holding it in his two larger ones.
“Do you know how to get back to the beach?” he questions. She smiles at how warm his large hands feel, a blush rising up to her cheeks. She’s tired from not getting much sleep, but how could she with such a handsome man lying right next to her?
“You just, swim that way.” She tells him, her other hand pointing in the direction opposite of where they’re facing. He narrows his eyes in skepticism, “Swim? That far?” he asks her. She smirks as if telling him, “Duh!”
He laughs again at the unique nature of the girl, cheeks reddening as he finally realizes she’s wearing nothing but a swimsuit. The swimsuit itself is rather plain, a solid color and a simple design but her curves make the swimsuit look far more expensive than it possibly was.
The sound of multiple boats closing in fills both of their ears. Motor gears click obnoxiously against each other, and Y/N peeks over the rock to get a better view. When she sees that flashing lights are attached to the boat, she quickly understands that they’re here for him, and rushes to jump off of the rock.
Harry notices the sirens of the emergency boats looking for him. He waves, catching the boat driver’s attention before sitting back down. “What was your na-” He begins, before he realizes she is no longer by his side, the only evidence she was ever there being the trail of bubbles streaming out in front of him.
-
Harry thinks he’s going insane.
After he arrives home from his various medical examinations, his mother greets him with puffy eyes and a worried expression. She makes him take a hot bath, and afterwards tucks him into bed like a child, kissing his forehead before leaving his spacious room.
Harry isn’t even concerned with his health, or the state of his yacht, or even the situation that occured with Noelle the night before, he busies himself with the thought of the girl with pretty hair and soft skin, and tiny hands who claimed she lived in the ocean. And he wonders if his grandfather was right about a mermaid living at the black rock after all.

please come in and just sit here for a while ♥
Jake’s laughing so hard, Amy’s sure he’s going to wheeze himself into a poorly-timed asthma attack. The last thing they need right now is to have to call for backup while he fumbles with his inhaler.
“Alright, alright,” she grumbles, her cheeks warm with embarrassment. “So a double date with a young Al Gore at the Louvre isn’t the most plausible. But you asked for my dream date– you didn’t specify it had to be realistic!”
He snorts, but she shoves him in the shoulder before he can devolve into another laughing fit.
“Aw, you gotta give yourself some credit, Santiago. A date like that could totally happen.” He pauses, amusement clear on his face. “Just remind me to tell your future boyfriend to invest in a time machine.”
He ducks before she can shove him again, and just like that he’s doubled over and full-on giggling once more.
“Like your dream date is any less ridiculous,” she huffs.
He swipes at his eyes and coughs, taking a moment to settle his breathing. “Oh, I’ll have you know my ideal date is plenty realistic but dare-I-say still very romantic? The Jake Peralta boyfriend experience is quite intoxicating, thank you very much.”
She raises an eyebrow but nods for him to go on. For sheer curiosity’s sake, if nothing else.
“I’m a simple guy. I don’t have to go to a fancy museum or whatnot to have a good time. All I need is a few fluffy blankets, chairs and stuff for structure, way too many pillows, maybe some of those fairy lights to set the mood… You following me here, Santiago? I’m talking me, my boo, and the most epic pillow fort you’ve ever seen. We’ll sneak a laptop computer into the fort and put Die Hard on, duh, and then it’ll be candy and cuddles from there on out.”
She hums, vaguely impressed but not at all ready to admit that that does sound like a respectable stay-at-home date idea. (She’s even further away from acknowledging that she maybe also thinks all of that with Jake specifically sounds more than ideal.) “Movie night in a pillow fort, huh? Never took you for someone into textbook rom com dates, Peralta.”
“Hey, I like cuddles and warm blankets! They make me feel safe,” he shrugs, then shifts to smirking and waggling his eyebrows at her. “Besides, a pillow fort is the perfect place for a good ol’ make out sesh. Seriously, by the end credits, my date and I would totally be–”
“Okay, I’m going to go ahead and stop you there before this gets wildly inappropriate. Still technically work hours, Romeo.”
He sends her another cheeky grin before raising his binoculars and redirecting his attention to the warehouse they’ve been monitoring. She refocuses as well, filing this new fact about her partner somewhere in the back of her head – to be compartmentalized and hopefully forgotten, along with her mental catalogues of Weirdly Cute Things Jake Has Done and Shirts Jake Has Worn That Make His Arms Look Good.
“Are your eyes covered?” She asks, glancing behind her to triple check before unlocking her apartment door. “No peeking until I say so, okay?”
Jake scoffs but keeps his hands over his eyes. “Ames, if this is your way of easing me into blindfolds and bondage, let me tell you–”
“Oh, hush. I told you, I just need to make sure everything’s ready.”
They step into her entryway, with Jake following closely behind her then staying put when she tells him to.
Amy makes quick work of depositing her bag and shoes in their designated places, hanging up her coat, and running to get the string of lights plugged in. (She’d made sure the whole setup was prepped even before going to bed the night before, but she’d intentionally left the fairy lights off lest she be schooled by fire marshal Boone of all people.)
She surveys her living room – or what used to be her living room and what now is an organized mess of sheets strewn over dining chairs and pillows lain on every available surface – one last time before taking a steadying breath and turning back to her boyfriend. “Okay, Jake, you can look now.”
He drops his hands to his sides, and Amy watches as his expression morphs from confusion to wonder.
“Oh my god. Is this– It’s– Holy shit, it’s a pillow fort!”
He sheds his jacket and toes his shoes off as fast as possible, tripping over his socked feet to scramble into the makeshift entrance, half-squealing and half-rambling like an excited child the whole way. Amy laughs, already starting to feel pleased with herself as she crawls in after him.
“Amy, this is amazing! Did you put all of this together on your own?” He’s beaming, eyes shining with unbridled joy. In the few seconds it’s taken her to settle in against a strategically-arranged pile of pillows, he’s managed to wrap himself up in one of the three fleece blankets she’d prepared for them to use. (She’s going to have to do so much laundry this weekend.)
“Mhm,” she nods, hoping she’s coming off cool when actually she’s buzzing with giddiness from the inside out. “Do you like it?”
“Like it? I love it!” He falls back onto the thick floral comforter lining the floor beneath them, closing his eyes and making a satisfied hum before looking at her again. “Not to be weird, but you are making teenage Jake so happy right now. Like, I for realz would spend hours trying to imagine how my fort would look like and this– yeah, this is pretty darn close. The only thing it needs is–”
“Snacks? Check under that couch cushion.” She smiles, pointing to the spot beside his arm.
He sits back up then lifts the pillow in question, gasping loudly. “Gummy bears? Fruit Roll-Ups? One, two, three… seven types of chocolate, and even the Mexican candy from the bodega near the precinct? Amy, I–” His face shifts to something between bewilderment and awe, sending another surge of nerves through her. “I don’t know what to say… This is literally my dream date. How did you know?”
“Well, it’s... kind of a weird story. You’re going to laugh.” She stops, looking down and tucking her hair behind her ears while she searches for the right words to say. She’d known, logically, that it was much more likely he’d forgotten about their random conversation way back when, but a part of her had just hoped he’d remember so she wouldn’t have to explain herself like this.
“Come on, Ames. I promise I won’t laugh,” he says gently, nudging her leg with his foot. “I swear I really only want to know how you somehow read my mind. I mean, I know my school counselor said I should’ve kept daily diaries back then but I absolutely did not, so there’s no way you broke into one of those. Did I drunkenly blurt out my mushy teenage fantasies at Shaw’s the other week?”
She shakes her head, fiddling with the hem on the nearest pillowcase. “Not last week or at Shaw’s. I don’t expect you to remember this because it was at a stakeout a few years ago, but we’d talked about our ideal dates and you’d mentioned movie night in a pillow fort, so…” Her voice trails off as she digs underneath yet another blanket for her laptop and DVD copy of Die Hard.
She almost cringes when he doesn’t respond immediately, and it takes all her courage to get herself to look up from the loading screen.
He’s got that boyish grin on his face, of course. (It’s not fair that she still finds him ridiculously attractive, even when he’s obviously over the moon at her expense.)
“You said you wouldn’t laugh,” she says, pouting.
“I’m not! I’m just–” His grin widens into a smirk. “ So, so glad I finally have proof you’ve liked me for ages. Wow, Ames. You’ve been holding onto this piece of info for years, just waiting until you could finally put it to use, huh? That had to have been at least three years ago by now, right? Gosh, Amy, I had no idea–”
“Shut up and eat your candy,” she grumbles, throwing a packet of fruit leather his way.
He snickers but doesn’t say anything more as he tears into the plastic and bites into the chewy candy. The tips of her ears burn just the same, with her lack of an outright denial loud and clear in the air between them.
“It’s okay, babe,” he says brightly, laying a sticky kiss on her flushed cheek. (The brand new pet name isn’t lost on her at all, but she’ll unpack her feelings about that another time.) “I’ve most definitely liked you for way too long, so at least we’re even.”

I need some advice. Please.
I know I have some lovely mutuals on here, who listened to a lot of the problems I had in the last 8 years. And I know some of you are nearly or already in your 30s or 40s. I think the ridiculous wall of text, that’ll follow is more directed at you guys (even though I’m not ruling out some great thoughts from younger people).
I’m 36 years old. I’m still quite puzzled when I see that number, because I feel a lot younger. And not in the sense, that I have sooo much energy and youthful looks (noooo, god no…) but rather in a way, that I don’t feel like a grown-up. I often feel like I still don’t have my shit together. I function ok in life, but I feel I lack so many grown-up-skills and urges. Like the urge to start a family.
I know I never had a real mommy gene. Kids were never a must for me. Depending on my current mood I’d even say I never want kids. They don’t fit my lifestyle… too much responsibility… I don’t want to bring a kid into THIS world (although the last one is a kind of lame excuse in my case to have the circumstances around me make a pseudo decision for me).
Now, if you know me a bit and I know some of you here do, because we’ve been following each other across many social platforms for at least 6-8 years, you might know that I’m in a relationship. Alex and I have been together for 5 1/2 years now and even though we are not fully compatible (extrovert-introvert problems), we have a lot of beautiful things in our life. We have a big ass flat, enough money to live very comfortably and to travel at least twice a year and we love each other.
Just to give you some context: Alex has a son from his previous relationship. He is ten by now and lives with his Mom. Alex became a father very young (at least by my standards). He didn’t want to have a kid in his early 20s, but he’s been there for the kid nevertheless and even now that he lives a bit further away, he still makes a huge effort to see him a couple of times a month.
When we first got together, he always said he might want another kid, further down the line, although he wasn’t quite sure. That was exactly my position, too. And it was nice knowing, that I had options with this man… further down the line. When we got together, I knew I had around 5-6 years to decide what I wanted. Now those years have passed and the last 2 years I’ve been worrying, that I can’t decide.
I’m HORRIBLE at making decision and having a kid is like a huge change. I mean, even when everything goes smoothly, you are responsible for another human’s well-being for 18+ years. Everything in your life has to come second from now on. And that’s only when everything goes smoothly. What if you have a really really difficult kid? What if you suffer from post natal depression? What if your kid is sick or disabled? That’s a lot of „what if“s if you ask me. And I marvel at people who take the risk, because they somehow know the good will outweigh the bad (but will it really for me?). So that was my internal struggle for the last years. Alex always told me, he doesn’t rule out anything, but I would have to make up my mind. And whenever I heard him say that I felt so so helpless, because I can’t make that decision on my own. I always felt having a kid should be a decision you make together with your partner.
All those mixed emotions went into overdrive around two weeks ago. One of my fave co-workers just got a baby and she’s 39… so I though: Well, look at her. I still have time, too. And then she came by with the little baby and her husband the other day and after that visit I was in turmoil. I looked at those three and I’m so ashamed to say it, but I was so jealous. I was happy for her, she deserves all good things coming her way, but I looked at them and I wanted that too. And I know, that getting such a small glimpse into other people’s relationships is often not a truthful representation of what the relationship is really like, but try to reason with primal feelings like that. It’s impossible.
So the last week I wanted to talk to Alex again. Not that I made a decision, but just to let him know what that visit did to me. I didn’t really have the chance to do that. Last night we were out to dinner and I don’t know how that topic came up, but suddenly he said „I’m sure I don’t want another kid“. And that was that.
I always thought having something outside my reach make the decision for me (like the doc telling me I can’t have kids or like Alex telling me he doesn’t want any), would make things easier and maybe in the long run it will, but suddenly all the doors were shut and there was only one path in life left for me. Because it’s absolutely clear for my that I NEVER want to force a kid on someone who doesn’t want one. I believe it’s bad for everyone involved, but especially for the kid. And even if I would made up my mind tomorrow and the urge was suddenly so strong that I want to be a mother, what then? Leave my boyfriend to find someone else?! Sounds like a really great plan at fucking 36, especially considering how much of a man-magnet I am…
One of the worst thoughts and one that had been torturing me for years now, is how my parents feel about this. Don’t get me wrong… they are the BEST parents you can imagine. They would never ever in a million years guilt trip me into having children. They didn’t even ask me once if I wanted to have any. Not a peep. And yet I feel they would love being grandparents. They have worked so hard their entire life to ensure I have a great and comfortable life. When they will be gone someday (hopefully a looooong way away), they will not only have left me with a lot of emotional support throughout my life, but also with enough money to not have to worry too much. And they built it all from scratch and just for our family. And somehow it makes me incredibly sad, that I don’t have anyone to give it to, when I’m gone. I know it’s not true, but in a way all their effort seem wasted. I know they don’t feel that way, but I can’t help those thoughts.
Maybe it’s just fear of regret? Being old and then looking back wishing I had kids around me? But is that the right reason to have a kid now, when my first and strongest reaction is: Oh shit, I’m so scared of getting pregnant.
I’m full of contradictions. So what now?
The thing is… I WANT to see this as a positive thing. I want to put those thoughts to rest and focus on what lies ahead of me. I know many older women (with and without partners) who are childless and lead great lives. I definitely can see myself there. But sometimes I dream about being a mother too. Probably highly idealized dreams, but they are there.
In my headline I said, I need some advise. I don’t even know what I ask for specifically. Maybe just finding someone who understands what’s going on with me and wants to share some thoughts or insights? I really don’t know. Maybe I just needed to get it out of my system by writing it down. Again, I don’t know.
If you managed to read through all of that, I love you! Thanks for taking the time to do that. It means a lot to me.

What size alloy wheels will change the insurance of a car? (read details)?
right i've been looking at cars to buy for ages now and as I'm a seventeen year old boy insurance is ridiculous as it is. Finding cars that i can afford to buy and insure is hard. I have found a few 'perfect' cars, however a couple of them have alloy wheels instead of the standard manufacture ones. I will quote my insurance website so you can help me out: Replacement of factory fitted wheels with Alloys of the same size this doesn't alter my insurance quote one bit. Replacement of factory fitted wheels with wheels / tyres of a non standard size or specification This means i cannot get insured at all; they won't have me with them. So my question is, if a 1998 Peugeot 306 has 16 inch white wolfrace alloys, does this mean i can't get insured or not? This might be a stupid question, just want to get it right, thanks for you time, means a lot Alex.""
What to do about Young Driver's car insurance?
I'm 17 and currently looking at buying my first car with insurance sometime during next year. I've been looking around on a lot of price comparison sites and the cheapest I could honestly find was 3,000 a year. I even tried putting myself on my dad's insurance through them and it was still in the 3000's. I have tried with a number of cars, mainly from group 4 insurance as anything below that tends to be really new cars that boost up your premium. Ideally, I'd like to buy my friends Peugeot 306 off him which is a 1.9 diesel that is usually really cheap to insure compared to most other first cars . However since this huge insurance increase I'm finding it impossible to get prices below 3000. Does anyone know of anyone specialist insurance sites for young drivers that offer cheaper prices or does anyone have any tips for filling out the forms to lower the price? I've tried everything I possibly can but I may have missed some important thing. I just know I don't want to pay 3000 a year for a car that I'm buying for 400. I see no logic there, what so ever. I'd rather crash my car and then buy another 6 of them.""

How much will my car insurance be as a new driver?
I'm learning to drive as a necessity for a new job, but I am struggling to get a reliable estimate of the insurance premium I should expect once I have a car. I know that nobody will be able to give me a precise figure as it depends on so many variables, but I wondered if anyone would know what to put into a quote generator to get something accurate? I'm female, in the UK, 27 years old and will need a cheap and cheerful 5 door hatchback. Unfortunately I don't know enough about engine sizes and that sort of thing to know if I'm answering the questions on the form realistically. I tried compare the market and got a cheapest quote of 3,700 per annum - does this sound right? I know it will be expensive but even so that seems very high for a 1999 Vauxhall Corsa! (the car I used to get the quote). I do realise this is a very subjective question but any advice is greatly appreciated - at the moment it is looking like I won't be able to take up a dream job offer as all I will be doing is working to pay for a car that I oly got in order to take the job :(""

Car wreck....Why is his insurance calling me? Can someone please clear this up?
So Friday morning, my fiance' and I were headed to New Jersey to visit his family for Christmas. On the way there, I was driving his truck so he could sleep a little before we switched places. Early morning when we were in Virginia, I pulled off the highway to go to a McDonalds to get some coffee. When I pulled off, it was a weird exit and I had no clue where I was going. I stopped at a red light, which had another light very close behind it which turned green, my idiot self was looking at that light for some reason while our light was still red...I hit the gas and then slammed on my breaks realizing what I was doing but it was too late and I hit a guy on the side of the door. It wasn't a big wreck. The guy didn't fly across the intersection. He didn't even move, his door was just dented and it will definitely need to be replaced but the man said he was not hurt at all. The truck we were driving in barely had damage, just a little dent in the hood that was very small to the eye and a bent license plate. We were in much better shape; but again, he was not in pain and his door was the only thing that seemed to be damaged. ANYWAYS, I received a traffic ticket for failing to obey a traffic light which I totally accept because this was extremely stupid of me and I am planning on mailing the fine to the court. So since I was driving my fiance's car, which is under his parents insurance, I assume my insurance is not affected. The trooper just told us that the other guy's insurance will contact my fiance's insurance. So I am thinking all I have to do is just pay this awful fine. Well my fiance' called me this morning and said that Statefarm (the other guy's insurance) called him asking for my number. Why would the other guy's insurance need to contact me if my fiance's parent's insurance are the ones who insure the truck? I just want to know what's to come when they call me. I don't know much of anything about insurance. I just want to know why the other guy's insurance would contact me when, yes, I caused the accident but my fiance's father is the insurance holder of the car that was wrecked. Thanks!""
