Kinda wish that people would be giving the same kind of criticism and scrutiny to Internet Historian that they have been giving to James Somerton. IH is a much bigger and more well known channel and his cave video got a lot more attention. Like I know his video got taken down, and he's only done this to one video (that we know of) but he employed the same sort devious tactics to try and hide his plagiarism, so would be nice to see the same sort of outrage for him too.

ryan reynolds is one of the better options for a celebrity on tumblr since he’s more likely to be normal about the bizarre fan content this website is built on but so help me GOD if any other mainstream celebrities come here I don’t know how I’m going to cope

Nothing funnier to me than a fansite that horrifically white washes pics of the guys until they genuinely look like walking corpses but then will have DO NOT EDIT in all their captions like baby.... if there's anyone here who should have the editing software taken away, it's you...

I thought I was someone who never had an rpf phase, but a memory just resurfaced of finding this bowie fic on the site "teenage wildlife" when I was around 15 about his little personas coming out of his head and becoming real after like, a lightning strike or something, and going on a big adventure to get everyone back together and recover his memories bc they were physical manifestations of those, and I was properly invested. this was before I knew rpf was properly like, a thing, too.

I feel like if one wants — and is trying to give themself — a mental disorder by using the label of transid,” then they are probably already disordered in some other way that they are in denial of; because it‘s more stigmatized, or “less interesting” than the neurotype they’ve chosen to mimic… which is sad because they’re masking in two different directions at that point: one to hide their illness, the other to create an illness… which will lead to more illness. Bleak, to be honest.
#I kind of used to be like that as a kid. I claimed to have “multiple personalities” when I didn’t…#my brain just attaches characters to thoughts as a form of organization; and at that time the different concepts were “warring”#(AKA: I was trying to make logical sense of information when I had zero critical thinking skills because I was raised in a cult)#And I knew I didn’t really have different personalities deep down; but my sense of self was so fractured#that I wanted the different pieces to be different people so I could make the need to think about my issues go away#I simply wanted one “personality” to kill the others so I would imagine long bloody battles between my “selves” in my head#to exorcise my mind of impure thoughts (which never worked because they weren’t real people#and I couldn’t kill them because the people I created symbolized concepts and desires on which my brain perseverated every waking moment)#I was trying to kill off parts of myself to attain everlasting life on a paradise earth; so I could build a real Data and android children#in Paradise#so if I died in Armageddon from bad behavior (watching Markiplier and having fun times in the shower) I’d be killing them too#And the only other kid I saw who claimed to want a disorder (“wanted” to have OCD) wanted it because they wanted to be like a character#and they were later diagnosed with — you guessed it — autism!#Also both of us had an astonishing amount of free time on the internet and were raised essentially as only children in a cult#So I think a lot of it is isolation and just not knowing who you are because you never see yourself react to anything in real life#You don’t know what you would do in situations and therefore have no sense of self from total lack of life experience#And I actually had OCD for awhile as well… I kicked it for the most part. But the whole rumination battle thing was certainly a sign

edit: eye design on the pin is based off of this video tutorial by yurie sekiya, creator of pero pero sparkles.
#art#artists on tumblr#my art#traditional art#doodle#yeah thats the phone i used to take these photos#i did these around very early june this year#every year there's a festival in the middle of my town celebrating it#its pretty much an event for local organizations and businesses to promote themselves#its kinda boring because its the same every year lol#but i go mainly because 3 4ths of the stalls give out promotional branded thingamabobs and free candyyyy (😋)#one of the local libraries gives out free books - daycares and kids centers have toys to play with#and lastly kids art schools have some crafts#which is how i got to work on the cd and badge in the photo#fun fact: the stall i did the cd at gave me a flyer printed on card stock which i used to make my arrangeable v a angel face#at the second stall i actually made the pin a total of two times because i lost the first one minutes after i walked away#and when i came back a second time the people hosting recognized me so i had to explain myself#on an unrelated note they were so impressed with my second pin that they asked to take a picture of me with it#and post it on their social media. and i agreed because yay someone likes my art ^W^#soooo there is a picture of this badge and my REAL FACE floating around on the internet#i regret it in the slightest because I have the reasonable fear of my appearance being out there out of my control#though i guess that's a lost cause because ive been in the background of friends' posts and school club social media posts#btw i wrote “(to) kill” in japanese in cutesy handwriting on the pin because i thought it would be funny#and i think it's even funnier to imagine that the social media of the kid's art school just has a post of a badge saying “KILL💖”#next to my smug ass face

re: the music rant I tagged you in I am so sorry for tagging you in my double-dose caffeine fueled haterism explosion post. truly was off the shits and did not realize how much random garbage talking points I was ready to spill on the first person to ask
but i love haterism…..
#truly i really don’t care if ppl like those artists. they do so for good reason#but it’s just impossible to see it as like. particularly noteworthy and countercultural or anything anymore?#like obv it’ll never be on the same mainstream level of like taylor swift or w/e#but as far as being ‘weird’ or ‘fringe’ it’s like. safe weird. safe fringe#mainstream weird or mainstream fringe to use an oxymoron#there’s nothing wrong with enjoying something with a large community that makes you feel something#but it just isn’t particularly striking as far as making a statement about how unique you are#not that you need to be unique to be cool#but i think a lot of people truly do see it as a thing that makes them special or even superior#it’s not harmful at all just a little silly#and truly when every young neurodivergent well-off internet dweller is doing it. well it’s not totally weird is it#safe and sanitized weirdness#either that or to get back to the point if it is true weirdness then it’s like yeah are you sure this goes on that character playlist LOL#maybe the other bigger threat is when stuff is genuinely good and raw and unique and strange#art that’s screaming something out#and it gets watered down into something incredibly generic#like this lament about the singer’s very real life is like ‘woagh this is just like these two fictional white men who have never met’#less ‘morally wrong’ and more ‘hardcore cringe at best and in poor taste at worst’#or like. what if it is an EXTREMELY specific situation genuinely#why is it on every playlist 🤔#the answer is bc it goes hard of course so who am i to say they’re wrong for having fun#but behind the scenes in secret i’ll be laughing sinisterly#like everybody in the world thinks Their Artist is the most freakish unique and special artist. including swifties#fact of the matter there’s always something weirder. even the stuff i listen to i am well aware could be so much freakier#is there really any point in making it a competition of how weird you are#just listen to what appeals to you and stop acting like you’re the main character idk#asks#dj-of-the-coven#ok i’m done now. hope none of this sounded too bitter and judgmental

"It even connects to your smart phone!"
Well... that's a huge downside for something to have, don't like that
#don't like it cause not only might it be harvesting data on me; but that also means it probably is real susceptible#to the manufacturer just deciding they don't support it anymore; specifically with software#and of course that not just meaning 'not support' but meaning 'we've bricked your working device'#like I get why people like it; the convenience of your whole life in the palm of your hand#but I don't trust like that#to me it's an unneeded massive point of failure that risks me not actually owning the physical thing I bought#this is about a density meter for like... figuring alcohol content in home brewing#and like... neat... but the moment they said 'it even connects to your smart phone' that's a massive red flag to me and I don't like that#takes it from 'if I ever start brewing maybe I should get that'#to '...man... I don't know that I trust them not to brick my shit with hostile software'#know nothing about the company; but that's how I feel about all app based shit#maybe just like... measure my shit for me and keep and internal log... oh; and a usb port and the ability to interface with standard OSs#that would be nice; like then I can rip the logs off your thing onto my computer#but nah... I don't want a phone involved unless I plug it in with a usb#I'd rather it be a little less convenient for me; but not use a wifi signal#cause then you can't fuck with it; no one can fuck with it; except me when I plug direct into it#...don't want my shit connecting to the internet; and that's the other problem with apps#they pretty much can't mean anything but an internet connection... cause how else does it talk to your phone?#if it's not my computer; frankly it should be dumb and totally offline with usb ports (or other HDMI whatever) for communicating#tv should be a dumb blackbox; oven should be a dumb blackbox; sadly even thermostats and shit should be a dumb blackbox#this shit makes life easier... till it doesn't; and if I don't have total control over it then someone else does#like... if I have a closed system smart home; that's one thing; but if I use a standard one that means anyone can access it#both in terms of random employees being caught peeping on me (and tos that say they're allowed to gather data on my sexuality and shit)#to the fact that if it hooks up to the internet and someone can connect to it... they just have to get past security and they're in#like my car shouldn't fucking be harvesting data on me; that tos example wasn't random; that's lifted from one of car companies tos#online is vulnerable; online is unsecured more often than not; it's a fucking risk that isn't worth it#it's like all those keyless cars getting stolen cause all they gotta do is catch your fob's signal and then spoof it#I want it dumb and connecting to nothing 95% of the time#sometimes I want it dumb and connecting only with a direct wire#I in theory might want it smart but on a closed home network I have complete control over

The fact that some people actually blame tumblr shipping culture for the reason men can’t show intimacy to each other without being perceived as gay is fucking mind boggling to me
#vinny types#look. look. I’m aware of the blog with which I’m posting this on#and the website it’s hosted on#stones in glass houses and all that#but the idea that shaming men for being intimate and vulnerable with each other#began in 2007 with the birth of tumblr#is INSANE#like it’s been around for hundreds if not thousands of years in at least some context#if men are getting shamed for their platonic gestures being read as gay#is that not perceived as a bad thing bc BEING GAY HAS HISTORICALLY BEEN STIGMATIZED#bc I look at that and go ‘huh. that totally sucks that straight men have weaker support networks#bc they don’t feel comfortable being vulnerable with their male friends.#it’s almost like homophobia negatively impacts everyone 🤔’#not ‘wow I’m lacking intimacy in my life bc I can’t be vulnerable with my friends. how can I blame women for this?’#like do I think that internet shipping culture is overall a good thing? no#i think it’s negatively impacted how people think about narratives themes and characters#but real life people feeling ashamed and potentially even facing violence for being vulnerable with peers of the same gender#is NOT being caused by shippers#if YOU think it’s bad to be PERCIEVED as gay then you have to recognize#how being visibly queer is still a dangerous thing to be#like yeah ppl misinterpreting your identity isn’t a pleasant feeling#but the percieved threat of misinterpretation#is not equating to the problem that it’s causing (lack of male intimacy)#it’s fucking annoying when men get mad at a problem THEY caused and then blame women and queer ppl for it#and yes of course women and queer ppl can perpetuate these stereotypes too#but once again I feel like that is ignoring the root cause of the issue#anyway if you made it this far into this tag vent congrats 🎊#i saw a tiktok and it reminded me of this argument I had with an ex#over samwise and Frodo being in love no less

the internet has done terrible terrible terrible things for irl communities and subcultures. its strange because there are SOME online spaces where its possible to positively connect with other people you otherwise would have zero access to but i think in general its totally replacing irl spaces and we NEED some kind of healthy balance here. like i am absolutely capable of talking to to the three million gay people in my phone but its almost impossible to actually go to a casual lesbian space with any breathing culture these days

the thing abt this website (and really, every other website and also people irl) is that you'll be introduced to a new person who seems interesting (read: has some stuff to say that you agree with), and you'll think, ooh, maybe i should follow them! and then you'll check out their blog and realize, oh, fuck, right, they're the same person who was advocating 'systematic and targeted online harassment' of people who spread a message they dislike, as though that were either an acceptable way to behave or, for that matter, an effective way to convince anyone of anything—like, hello, if you harass your enemies they will shut their ears to you and become further entrenched in their current positions! also decent people will see what you're doing and distrust you even if your cause would otherwise earn their sympathy!
#and like. it's not a group or message i endorse either! that's not the point!#anyway tbd bc this IS vagueblogging it's just like. very frustrating#i very much want to like and respect people! wish they'd let me!#(a problem with the internet is that you run into dealbreakers much faster than you can build real bonds with people)#(and so you don't forge the kinds of relationships where you can say‚ hey‚ love you but that thing you said was pernicious actually!)#(so you just quietly unfollow‚ or don't follow in the first place‚ and no one learns anything from anyone else#that isn't already dreamt of in their existing philosophy)#(love my internet pals to bits but it really is like. in many cases we're not proper talk-things-out friends)#(and where we are‚ that's really developed in spite of the prevailing internet culture‚ i feel like‚ not because of it)#(like everyone talks this big dramatic game about Mutuals but so many of those [non-]relationships are really‚ like‚ mutually parasocial)#(they like your posts and you like theirs but nary a word is ever exchanged)#(so you don't get any practice at finding middle ground and figuring out what areas of disagreement you can push back at)#(you just either always-already-agree or silently part ways)#(anyway. these tags took a turn lmao)#(i'm just very conscious that this aspect of internet culture is not serving me)#(but like. what do you do about it?)#(still follow the person you think said something totally wrongheaded bc irl you wouldn't have been aware they'd said it?)#(maybe that IS where you start but like. then you end up with a dash that stresses you the fuck out‚ probably! so that's not the end of it.#(anyway.)#(sigh.)

I don’t think I can wait until next year for this game tbh Everything I learn about it has me sick to my stomach with anxiety and worry bro. I just need them to send me the whole script right now I cannot make out where anything is going and it’s driving me up the wall and away from everything completely 🫠
ok NOW i think you're overreactin a bit- in my most humble of opinions anyway
what we've gotten from 8 so far from the latest summit is that proposing of some kind's happening: that's it. it's WAY too early and we have WAY too little information to say what's even going on
as for gaiden, same boat: we have virtually no idea what's happening. there's the fall summit to hopefully try and give more information, but i don't think you should shelf the game entirely just yet

Why aren’t teenagers taught internet safety more in depth in school? Keep your personal info within your personal circle and don’t make it easier for stalkers or creeps who take an interest in you to find you. It’s horribly easy rn to find out pretty much anything you want to know about anyone aged 12-25 because of the internet, so don’t make it that easy!!!
