"Starting this month [June 2024], thousands of young people will begin doing climate-related work around the West as part of a new service-based federal jobs program, the American Climate Corps, or ACC. The jobs they do will vary, from wildland firefighters and “lawn busters” to urban farm fellows and traditional ecological knowledge stewards. Some will work on food security or energy conservation in cities, while others will tackle invasive species and stream restoration on public land.
The Climate Corps was modeled on Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Civilian Conservation Corps, with the goal of eventually creating tens of thousands of jobs while simultaneously addressing the impacts of climate change.
Applications were released on Earth Day, and Maggie Thomas, President Joe Biden’s special assistant on climate, told High Country News that the program’s website has already had hundreds of thousands of views. Since its launch, nearly 250 jobs across the West have been posted, accounting for more than half of all the listed ACC positions.
“Obviously, the West is facing tremendous impacts of climate change,” Thomas said. “It’s changing faster than many other parts of the country. If you look at wildfire, if you look at extreme heat, there are so many impacts. I think that there’s a huge role for the American Climate Corps to be tackling those crises.”
Most of the current positions are staffed through state or nonprofit entities, such as the Montana Conservation Corps or Great Basin Institute, many of which work in partnership with federal agencies that manage public lands across the West. In New Mexico, for example, members of Conservation Legacy’s Ecological Monitoring Crew will help the Bureau of Land Management collect soil and vegetation data. In Oregon, young people will join the U.S. Department of Agriculture, working in firefighting, fuel reduction and timber management in national forests.
New jobs are being added regularly. Deadlines for summer positions have largely passed, but new postings for hundreds more positions are due later this year or on a rolling basis, such as the Working Lands Program, which is focused on “climate-smart agriculture.”  ...
On the ACC website, applicants can sort jobs by state, work environment and focus area, such as “Indigenous knowledge reclamation” or “food waste reduction.” Job descriptions include an hourly pay equivalent — some corps jobs pay weekly or term-based stipends instead of an hourly wage — and benefits. The site is fairly user-friendly, in part owing to suggestions made by the young people who participated in the ACC listening sessions earlier this year...
The sessions helped determine other priorities as well, Thomas said, including creating good-paying jobs that could lead to long-term careers, as well as alignment with the president’s Justice40 initiative, which mandates that at least 40% of federal climate funds must go to marginalized communities that are disproportionately impacted by climate change and pollution.
High Country News found that 30% of jobs listed across the West have explicit justice and equity language, from affordable housing in low-income communities to Indigenous knowledge and cultural reclamation for Native youth...
While the administration aims for all positions to pay at least $15 an hour, the lowest-paid position in the West is currently listed at $11 an hour. Benefits also vary widely, though most include an education benefit, and, in some cases, health care, child care and housing.
All corps members will have access to pre-apprenticeship curriculum through the North America’s Building Trades Union. Matthew Mayers, director of the Green Workers Alliance, called this an important step for young people who want to pursue union jobs in renewable energy. Some members will also be eligible for the federal pathways program, which was recently expanded to increase opportunities for permanent positions in the federal government...
“To think that there will be young people in every community across the country working on climate solutions and really being equipped with the tools they need to succeed in the workforce of the future,” Thomas said, “to me, that is going to be an incredible thing to see.”"
-via High Country News, June 6, 2024
--
Note: You can browse Climate Corps job postings here, on the Climate Corps website. There are currently 314 jobs posted at time of writing!
Also, it says the goal is to pay at least $15 an hour for all jobs (not 100% meeting that goal rn), but lots of postings pay higher than that, including some over $20/hour!!

Retire at 40: The Unspoken Truth About Crypto Futures and Financial Freedom
Retire at 40: The Unspoken Truth About Crypto Futures and Financial Freedom
Introduction: The Unspoken Reality
Let’s face it, retirement planning isn’t as straightforward as it used to be. Traditional investments like stocks, bonds, and 401(k)s feel more uncertain than ever, especially with today’s market ups and downs. If you’re feeling uneasy about relying solely on these old-school methods, you’re not alone. But here’s something interesting: crypto futures trading. And no, it’s not just for daredevils looking for quick thrills. It’s actually a practical way to secure financial freedom early.
Crypto Futures: More Than Just Quick Gains
There’s a common belief out there that crypto futures are only for adrenaline junkies chasing quick cash. But guess what? Plenty of disciplined, everyday people are using futures contracts to steadily grow their income. Unlike traditional crypto trading, futures give you clear ways to manage risk and plan your investments. You get to choose your comfort level, whether you’re cautious or slightly adventurous.
Real-Life Stories: Early Retirement Through Crypto Futures
James’s Story: Accelerating Retirement
Take James, for example — a 32-year-old IT manager who felt stuck following typical retirement advice. He wanted out of the grind early, so he gave crypto futures a shot, cautiously and strategically. He used low leverage and strict risk controls, and guess what? Within five years, he drastically sped up his retirement plan. Now at 38, James enjoys working part-time by choice, with crypto futures providing steady passive income.
Linda’s Journey: Supplementing Retirement Savings
Then there’s Linda, who was nearing 50 and worried about whether her retirement savings would be enough. She carefully diversified into crypto futures, sticking to low-risk trades and clear signals. Over several years, her consistent small wins from crypto futures added up, allowing her to comfortably retire at 55 without compromising her lifestyle.
Managing Risk: A Critical Factor
Trading crypto futures isn’t about gambling — it’s about smart risk management. Successful traders stick to a few simple but essential strategies:
Controlled Leverage: Keeping risks manageable while still growing your investments.
Stop-Loss Orders: Setting clear limits to keep losses in check automatically.
Diversification: Spreading investments across various assets to avoid getting hit hard by any single market move.
These strategies help minimize risk and maximize your chances of building a reliable retirement nest egg.
The Crucial Role of Reliable Signal Providers
Navigating crypto markets on your own can quickly become overwhelming. Between tracking indicators, analyzing vast amounts of data, understanding complex graphs and order books, keeping up with news, and monitoring whale activities — it’s a lot to handle. This is exactly where a reliable signal provider comes in.
Good signal providers simplify the process by handling the heavy lifting of data analysis for you. Your role then becomes clearer: focus on the broader market trends and use the provided signals as valuable guidance.
The real secret to success? Choose a trustworthy signals provider. Look for a service that maintains a consistent schedule, delivers a reasonable number of clear signals, offers real human support, and has a professional website and credible online presence. Providers should feel authentic and reliable.
That’s why platforms like SignalCLI are popular. They don’t just check these boxes — they’re also transparent, user-friendly, and offer helpful educational resources. With such quality signals, you’ll trade more confidently and clearly, leveling the playing field against even the most resourceful market players.
Case Study: The SignalCLI Effect
Traders using SignalCLI often report significant boosts in their trading accuracy and confidence. Why? Because it uses AI-powered analysis of over 150 reliable indicators like Moving Averages, Bollinger Bands, and Elder’s Force Index, consistently providing signals with around 80% accuracy. Users frequently mention how much easier and less stressful trading becomes, directly improving their overall lifestyle.
Industry Outlook and Future Trends
Crypto futures aren’t just a temporary trend — they’re becoming a mainstream retirement option. But with upcoming regulations and more institutional involvement, choosing a trustworthy and transparent platform has never been more critical. Stay informed, pick reputable signal providers, and be prepared to adjust your strategy as the market evolves.
Conclusion: A Practical Path to Early Retirement
Trading crypto futures isn’t about chasing overnight riches; it’s a realistic, structured route to retiring early and living the life you want. Done responsibly, it’s a powerful complement to traditional retirement strategies. Research carefully, manage your risks smartly, and partner with reliable signal providers — your early retirement dreams could become a practical reality.

True Sex Positivity Stands Against Pornography and Prostitution
I want to share my thoughts on why being anti-porn and anti-prostitution is sex-positive.
At its core, sex positivity seeks to challenge and overcome societal stigmas, shame, and negativity surrounding sexuality. However, pornography falls short of this ideal by perpetuating unrealistic standards and objectifying participants. It often involves the shaming of women, calling them terms like 'dirty sl*ts' and using racial slurs, which is decidedly not (sex-)positive.
In a sex-positive framework, consent is paramount. However, the power dynamics inherent in commercial sex transactions compromise the concept of freely given and informed consent. Sex trafficking is widespread in the sex trade and not a peripheral phenomenon, with the grooming of children, teens and young women into porn and prostitution presenting a significant problem.
Studies reveal that women in pornography production come from similar adverse backgrounds as women in prostitution. They are typically young, financially strapped, suffering from poor mental health, and victims of sexualized abuse during their childhood or young adult years. Pimps and pornographers target these marginalized women and girls who are more easily groomed, manipulated, controlled, silenced, and exploited.
The vulnerability and lack of bargaining power of these women allow pornographers, johns, and porn watchers to breach their personal boundaries. To sustain themselves financially, many women are forced to offer sex services they wouldn't otherwise or produce content more frequently, often containing greater levels of violence and humiliation. Consequently, female actors and prostituted women endure everything from cuts and bruises to vaginal and throat tears and anal relapses. Many are on drugs and painkillers to cope. Studies indicate that most prostituted women experience PTSD due to prostitution, whether they work in a country where it's legal or not.
Pornography and prostitution also normalize the demand for male access to women's bodies and violence in sexual acts, portraying women as objects to be used and hurt. Numerous studies have shown that pornography has a negative effect on men's attitudes toward women and not only that. There are more than a hundred studies proving the harm of porn (check out Truth About Porn website, it's ever-growing database dedicated to the research on the harmful effects of pornography). Something that is harmful cannot be positive!
We really should reclaim the term "sex-positive" and make it our own. Words wield considerable power, and those in favor of the sex trade recognize this, using it to their advantage. By labeling opponents of the sex trade as sex-negative, they effectively discourage critical thought about our stance. After all, most people aspire to be seen as "sex-positive". This not only sounds more appealing but also insinuates that those who aren't considered sex-positive are inherently sexist, prudish, and backwards—a stereotype frequently perpetuated.
However, taking an anti-prostitution and anti-porn stance allows us to promote and focus more on alternatives that empower individuals, focusing on comprehensive sex education, mental health support, and economic opportunities. This approach prioritizes agency, ensuring that individuals can make choices aligning with their own desires and well-being. This embodies genuine sex-positivity.
Furthermore, pornography not only perpetuates traditional gender roles and reinforces harmful stereotypes but also predominantly caters to men, prioritizing their pleasure and contributing to the reinforcement of inequality. A content analysis of best-selling pornographic videos revealed that 88% of scenes portrayed physical violence, 48% of scenes portrayed verbal aggression (e.g., insulting, threatening, and using coercive language), and 94% of aggressive scenes portrayed women as targets of aggression. Taking an anti-porn and anti-prostitution stance involves challenging these patriarchal structures. It's about fostering a more egalitarian society where individuals, regardless of gender, can experience fulfilling sexual relationships free from the constraints of rigid norms.

Hi, this is for those who still think comparing Trump to Hitler is hysterical and overly dramatic.
Project 2025, which Trump claims not to be associated with, but on which many close associates of his worked, details a plan to mobilize several forces like the National Guard and local police and sheriffs to "go around the country arresting illegal immigrants in large-scale raids".
The immigrants would then be taken to "large-scale staging grounds near the border, most likely in Texas" to be held in internment camps (a sort of prison for people who haven't been charged with a crime) before deportation.
(I'm citing this almost directly from the Wikipedia page about Project 2025, in the section "Policies" under "Immigration reforms", second to last paragraph.)
In shorter words: Raids to collect immigrants and place them in prison-like camps without a criminal charge. Let's employ a little pattern recognition and see that this is EXCEEDINGLY SIMILAR to the Reichspogromnacht in the night of the 9th November 1938.
In this night, an assassination attempt on a German diplomat in Paris (Ernst vom Rath) by a young polish Jew (Herschel Grynszpan) two days before was used as an excuse to stage a raid on jewish property by the German SA forces. Synagogues were burnt down, jewish property was destroyed and jewish people were detained, abused, raped and killed.
About 26.000 jewish men and teenagers were taken to concentration camps in Buchenwald, Dachau and Sachsenhausen. Many of them died following abuse in these camps, they were forced to give up their property and most were only set free after agreeing to migrate to other countries.
Afterwards, jewish organizations were forcibly disbanded, jewish press was forbidden, jewish people were no longer allowed to pursue trades and crafts, or own businesses. And obviously the discriminatory laws against jewish people only increased further.
(Information taken from the website of the state headquarters for political education Baden-Württemberg. The site is in German.)
TL; DR In both cases, people are forcibly detained without charges and placed in camps to be forced to migrate/ be deported. Are you seeing what I'm seeing??
As a German, do not repeat our mistakes and do not let yourself be radicalized into committing another Holocaust. Yes, it is exactly as bad as we're making it sound and we're being loud about it to prevent another eleven million people being killed systematically by a faschist government and its ignorant people.

I'm taking editing and publishing classes right now, and following along with the news at the same time has made me very worried about media and free speech in the U.S., particularly written works.
We've all been talking about the Kids Online Safety Act passed by the Senate. If the House chooses to adopt it, then the government can censor or sue websites that contain content that could be harmful to children. As everyone on here has stated, this could be interpreted as almost anything, since plenty of people see discussions of transgender identities, sex education, critical race theory, and more as being potentially harmful. This will all inevitably have a horrible impact on news and journal sites, blogs, webcomics, ebooks--anything that a hypothetical child could stumble into. It's easier to censor and erase digital media, and to track who has accessed it before, so publishing online and electronic works will be a cautious affair, especially for businesses and publishing companies.
Normally, the answer to all of this would be to rely on print media more. One could imagine a slew of underground printers and publishers slinging illicit erotica or contraband queer memoirs. But this is the U.S. in August 2025, we are at the center of globalized trade, and the tariffs that Trump promised are about to be put into full force. Many larger publishers place orders with printers and manufacturers in other countries. Even when there are printers in the U.S., their materials--machine components, ink, paper--tend to be imported. The cost of manufacturing print materials is going to increase dramatically, and many publishing companies likely won't be able to survive.
So, if media is unsafe to publish online and too expensive to produce en masse in print, what do we do? I wish I had a good answer. At this point, I can only encourage people to keep making a ruckus about all of this and refuse to be silenced.

If you've heard of black crested macaques or the Yaki monkey, it is probably this one:
Tumblr media
This black crested macaque became famous in 2011 when the photographer David Slater was taking photos in the jungle of Sulawesi Indonesia where black crested macaques are indigenous fauna. Slater was not the photographer who captured this photo, however. It was the macaque who has since been commonly called Naruto who took its own photograph on Slater's camera. The famous monkey selfie sparked a copyright lawsuit brought by PETA onto Slater, which was settled in 2017 with an agreement that Slater would donate a percentage of any profits gained by the pictures Naruto took to organizations that protect this species in the wild.
For the millions who enjoyed Naruto's selfies online, the story ends there. For Naruto and the Yaki the story continues. The black crested macaque is critically endangered. Slater's website says he donates 10% of the proceeds of all "monkey selfie" merchandise to "a monkey conservation project in Sulawesi", and while he does not specify which conservation project he supports, there is one I know of that does incredible work.
Selamatkan Yaki is an operation with a huge impact. The Yaki is one of the most endangered primates in the world, and it can be difficult to gauge just how many of them are out there. This is where biodiversity monitoring comes in to produce the data needed for effective conservation protocol. A pilot study was conducted in Tangkoko Nature Reserve, which has created the blueprint for surveying the entire province using camera traps and remote sensing to observe the Yaki and their threats over time.
Tumblr media
Using the data gathered from monitoring, Selamatkan Yaki collaborated with the government agency for natural resource conservation to create a Species Action Plan (SAP). This species action plan is not only an evidence based conservation plan designed to save the Yaki, but all the other species that share its forest home. Establishing the Yaki as a flagship species is crucial as this charismatic monkey is just one of many species that is not found anywhere else in the world.
Tumblr media
One of the major threats Yaki face, like many other primate species, is hunting for wildlife trafficking and the bush meat trades. While hunting the Yaki is illegal, it takes a true culture shift to keep endangered animals out of traps and cages. Selamatkan Yaki has developed both community conservation and environmental education programs designed to unite local communities in protecting the species. The community conservation program involves surveys conducted since 2007 so that long term data on human-animal relationships can be tracked to best identify community conservation methods. This data is used in the environmental education program which introduces information on biodiversity and conservation to school curriculum and provides research opportunities and scholarships for post secondary students to contribute to conservation.
Selamatkan Yaki understands that it isn't enough to have a team of people dedicated to saving the black crested macaque-- the more people who care and help the better. Everyone has a role to play in conservation, but right now so many people outside Indonesia have only ever seen the black crested macaque once, in a photo online. That's why I'm partnering with Selamatkan Yaki to spread information about the work they do and the species they protect. To learn more about Selamatkan Yaki you can click the links in this post, and stay tuned for more on the black crested macaque.

greetings fellow fans and aficionados.
my name is greedo-318. you will be seeing me here often, as i have come here with a purpose. i am here to educate you all.
it has come to my attention that a lot of the "fans" on this forum actually don't know what the hell they're talking about. in the five minutes i've been on this god forsaken website, i have seen some atrocious things.
the first thing i will be addressing is the first issue of major violence. the first issue did NOT come out in 1968, you utter imbeciles. the first comic actually came out some time early 1967, but ownership was transferred to a new company. if the forum user who had this awful take sees this, may zeus smite you.
more on that later.
i guess since you all will be seeing my screen name here often, i should tell you some things about myself.
i am the leader of a well-known club back in my town. we're pretty popular, all of the loser nerds try to claim a spot in our group. they beg all like, "please, please, greedo! i'll do anything!" and i laugh right in their faces. come back when you can name the issue superman started flying, losers.
i'm the secretary of comic books, obviously. if you think you know more than me, you don't. you can test your luck, of course. send me a message and we will see.
send me a pm if you're interested in trading collectibles, or, ask me anything.

sorry if you've talked about it already, but what is it that makes KOSA's idea of online safety wrong? I don't know much about the bill, what does it intend to do?
What do you think is a good way to protect kids from things like online predators or just seeing things that they shouldn't be seeing? (By which I mean sex and graphic violence, things which you'd need to be 16+ to see in a movie theater so I think it makes sense to not want pre-teens to see it)
From stopkosa.com:
Why is KOSA a bad bill? KOSA uses two methods to “protect” kids, and both of them are awful. First, KOSA would incentivize social media platforms to erase content that could be deemed “inappropriate” for minors. The problem is: there is no consensus on what is inappropriate for minors. All across the country we are seeing how lawmakers are attacking young people’s access to gender affirming healthcare, sex education, birth control, and abortion. Online communities and resources that queer and trans youth depend on as lifelines should not be subject to the whims of the most rightwing extremist powers and we shouldn’t give them another tool to harm marginalized communities.  Second, KOSA would ramp up the online surveillance of all internet users by expanding the use of age verification and parental monitoring tools. Not only are these tools needlessly invasive, they’re a massive safety risk for young people who could be trying to escape domestic violence and abuse.
I’ve heard there’s a new version of KOSA. What’s the deal? The new version of KOSA makes some good changes: narrowing the ability of rightwing attorneys general to weaponize KOSA to target content they don’t like and limiting the problematic “duty of care. However, because the bill is still not content neutral, KOSA still invites the harms that civil rights advocates have warned about. As LGBTQ and reproductive rights groups have said for months, the fundamental problem with KOSA is that its “duty of care” covers content specific aspects of content recommendation systems, and the new changes fail to address that. In fact, personalized recommendation systems are explicitly listed under the definition of a design feature covered by the duty of care in the new version. This means that a future Federal Trade Commission (FTC) could still use KOSA to pressure platforms into automated filtering of important, but controversial topics like LGBTQ issues and abortion, by claiming that algorithmically recommending such content “causes” mental health outcomes that are covered by the duty of care like anxiety and depression. Bans on inclusive books, abortion, and gender affirming healthcare have been passed on exactly that kind of rhetoric in many states recently. And we know that already existing content filtering systems impact content from marginalized creators exponentially more, resulting in discrimination and censorship. It’s also important to remember that algorithmic recommendation includes, for example, showing a user a post from a friend that they follow, since most platforms do not show all users all posts, but curate them in some way. As long as KOSA’s duty of care isn’t content neutral, platforms will be likely to react the same way that they did to the broad liability imposed by SESTA/FOSTA: by engaging in aggressive filtering and suppression of important, and in some cases lifesaving, content.
Why it's bad:
The way it's written (even after being changed, which the website also goes over), it is still possible for this law to be used to restrict things like queer content, discussion of reproductive rights and resources, and sexual education.
It will restrict youth's ability to use the Internet independently, essentially cutting off life support to many vulnerable people who rely on the Internet to learn that they are queer, being abused, disabled, etc.
Better alternatives:
Stop relying on ageist ideas of purity and innocence. When we focus on protecting the "purity" of youth, we dehumanize them and it becomes more about soothing adult anxieties than actually improving the lives of children.
Making sure content (sexual, violent, etc.) is marked/tagged and made avoidable for anyone who doesn't want to engage with it.
Teach children why certain things may be upsetting and how best to avoid those things.
Teach children how to recognize grooming and abuse and empower them to stop it themselves.
Teach children how to recognize fear, discomfort, trauma, and how to cope with those experiences.
The Internet makes a great boogeyman. But the idea that it is uniquely corrupting the Pure Innocent Youth relies on the idea that all children are middle-class suburban White kids from otherwise happy homes. What about the children who see police brutality on their front lawns, against their family members? How are we protecting them from being traumatized? Or children who are seeing and experiencing physical and sexual violence in their own homes, by the parents who prevent them from realizing what's happening by restricting their Internet usage? How does strengthening parent's rights stop those kids from being groomed? Or the kids who grow up in evangelical Christian homes and are given graphic descriptions of the horrors of the Apocalypse and told if they ever question their parents, they'll be left behind?
Children live in the same world we do. There are children who are already intimately aware of violence and "adult" topics because of their lived experiences. Actually protecting children means being concerned about THEIR human rights, it means empowering them to save themselves, it means giving them the tools to understand their own feelings and traumas. KOSA is just another in a long line of attempts to "save the children!" by dehumanizing them and giving more power to the people most likely to abuse them. We need to stop trying to protect children's "innocence" and appreciate that children are already growing, changing people, learning to deal with discomfort and pain and the weight of the world the same as everyone else. What people often think keeps kids safe really just keeps them ignorant and quiet.
Another explanation as to why it's bad:

What The Fuck is BL/ind?: An entirely too in-depth explanation.
If you’re like me and the question of how BL/ind could even work has plagued you for years (because seriously, how?), then look no further. I present an arguably feasible proposal as to how one could perhaps take over the state of California and set up a functioning evil corporate dictatorship.
So: Danger Days is set in an alternate history/timeline of the United States, which isn’t actually the U.S anymore. I don’t even think it has a canon name. I call it the “Better Living Corporatocracy” (or corpocracy) because that’s objectively what the government structure is. It’s a state whose economic, judicial, and political system is controlled by corporate interests. I doubt this is what BLi would be calling their own operation. They’d probably call it something corny like Better Living State or something; but I digress.
In this alternate timeline, the only known nation state currently in operation is the BLi corpocracy. All other countries have disappeared from existence as far as anyone living in the former U.S knows. Working strictly within canon, the state of California has been annexed and is now an independent country governed by BLi with its main headquarters located in Los Angeles—now Battery City.
We have next to no information on when BLi’s complete isolation of California happened, but I believe it was sometime around 2012, due to a claim on the Better Living website that BLi “have been dedicated to a clean and structured lifestyle since the great fires of 2012…” (betterlivingindustries.com, accessible through the Wayback Machine). Presumably, there was some kind of massive civil unrest preceding this that had to do with the Helium and (at least the first) Analog wars.
Whatever happened, Better Living Industries is now ostensibly running an entirely self-sustaining country, which sees no economic interaction with any other nation due to unconfirmed yet possible isolationist policies and the purported total collapse of foreign societies. This means that BLi has to compensate for trade, exports, imports, labor, manufacturing, education, defense, etc. out of their own pocket with the resources already available to them at the time of their rise to power.
To their credit, BLi probably picked the best state to attempt this with. California’s population (roughly adjusted for time period accuracy) is 37 million, it’s the most populated state in the U.S. It also has the largest sub-national economy in the world and would rank number 4 internationally if it were its own country. It has a huge tech industry and an agricultural sector with one of the highest outputs on Earth, in addition to tourism, government, and public services, and energy sectors that are nothing to scoff at.
Admittedly not a bad jumping off point, but the abrupt switch to complete isolationism changes some things. Say goodbye to tourism, travel employment, imported goods, exported goods, and probably most of the government and public services. This means BLi would have to completely replace all of these sectors with internal alternatives. Luckily for them, California has a large manufacturing base that is highly specialized and includes electronics, food, clothing, transportation, metals, and biotechnology. So they have the resources available to sustain at least something on their own should all outside help disappear.
However, accounting for the major extended global crisis which resulted in at least three separate major conflicts, leading up to the complete dissolution of 100% of the world’s societies; we can safely assume that California took a large economic hit and experienced some kind of prolonged population decline or stagnation, so the quality of the aforementioned economy would not be up to scratch and neither would the remaining population. This would have to be compensated for as well in the restructuring of society in BLi’s image.
In keeping with the shift into an isolationist corporatocracy, BLi would likely implement an across the board policy of collectivization and industrialization. There would be no market competition with other entities, so that would mean they operate on a planned economy where supply, demand, and labor can be controlled by the state to fit their objectives without having to wait for capital to build up or rely on financing from outside the system (which doesn’t exist). The labor force would also probably be managed so that unemployment would be as low as humanly possible. I’d imagine encouraging people to have children would be a huge priority as well to try and recover the working population.
The trade-off, here, being that there would be absolutely no incentive structure aside from offering survival in a post apocalyptic scenario. I guess that would be enough for the first few years, but once people start dissenting, that whole structure goes out the window.
Which is where the propaganda machine against the Killjoys probably comes into play, giving people a reason to keep BLi around (protection, access to resources) along with the imperialist endeavor to expand out of Southern California and into the Zones by way of “cleansing,” which I’m pretty sure refers to both people and radiation, presumably so that BLi can attempt to colonize the rest of the former U.S and expand their industrial power.
Overall, 10/10 dystopian situation going on here. Would not recommend.

ALL my back posts have been published to my new website!
i am going to be going back through my works and tagging all posts with kinks, themes, topics, characters, locations.
in the meantime, the search system on my new site is VERY good and my descriptions have lots of search terms!
you can absolutely go onto the site and search specific characters if you know their names, you can search locations - such as "Lashton" or "Camelot" - and you can search individual kinks, like Spanking or Daddy Kink or Come Inflation or Oviposition - and the results should be pretty good!
after my work has been more robustly tagged, especially for main characters, settings, periods, and obviously stuff like genre and format, i'll look into adjusting how tag pages appear and making sure that tags are clickable from every post in the same way that categories currently are!
other intentions for the website are:
to plump out and integrate my worldanvil, especially for stuff like maps and family trees
to create a gallery of work that i commission or trade for and promote those artists directly from my site
to do something similar with art and merch i buy at cons
the latter will include stickers and a gallery of the few dozen art pieces i have on display in my home, but i'm planning to also include my tattoos, as well as including links for stuff like vintage shops, tailors, jewellers, and other crafters & businesses that i build my wardrobe from
it's also my hope / intention when i'm back up north to coordinate with one of my local mosques or community centres and see about setting up a feeding station and maybe some shelters for some local feral cats, so as well as my continuing support of organisations like Bradford Cat Watch & Sanctuary
i'm also hoping to coordinate with some of our local TNR groups and start referring cats in my area of bradford to fosterers & adopters - because we're in such a small space and don't have space to foster, my main plan is actually to do local coordination and education in our area
bradford has a huge south asian population with a lot of muslims and sikhs - people here love animals and love their cats, and while there are partly cultural differences for desi immigrants, more importantly, people are anxious about veterinary care being expensive and not knowing the right english
my ambition is to start a postering program in my local area that provides information about local cheap & free spay/neuter and microchip programs, make a case for why these things are worth doing, and have those posters not just in english but also in urdu, punjabi, polish, etc
so i'm thinking if i have a page on my site that links to donation pages for various local cat people, and also if after i design these posters and get them translated for my area, that i make the templates available for free on that page as well so ppl can download them for their own use
i'm trying to be realistic about projects i'm able to take on that are fun and rewarding for me but that are still ones that i can put time toward and work with people, and this is work that i feel is doable for me and is a part of the world i can work to repairing, but isn't going to overwhelm me
i was really excited about running a queer history club but with my health issues the way they are, it's not just feasible for me to do that level of travel and set-up AND people management, wrangling, events planning and coordination - this is something that i can work on without being overwhelmed
i can help local cats (and other animals), and just as importantly, i can help their people and people who love cats in their areas, but basically feel disempowered by the whiteness and the racism/classism that some rescuers take to in their assumptions about how/why people neglect their animals
some people genuinely are cruel or don't give a fuck about their animals, that's true, but i don't think the vast majority of people in my area feel that way - they either just don't realise there's a problem or that there are more options for their pets, or are grappling with inaccessibility
and the thing about going out and petting stray cats and sitting with them and taking pictures of them and talking about them is.
i literally do that anyway, just in a less scheduled and efficient way. i'm basically planning on catmaxxing whilst also helping other ppl. best of both worlds babeyyyy

Note
I am so tired of people lacking basic reading comprehension. I work for a place which does education in the trades and at least twice a week someone will either call or email going "I want to do (insert trade we do not offer) but I don't see it on your website"
Maybe that's because we don't fucking offer it!!!!
