Here’s some more art I had for my TFO + TFA inspired au, I should really start posting these separately instead of these doodle dumps 💀 some context:

This is after the events of TFO but before the events of TFA/Bots on Earth

- B-127 has been training for years at the Autobot boot camp to become a soldier and is currently doing deliveries for the Autobots alongside Cliffjumper, Mirage, etc

- He still aspires to be part of the Elite Guard, and a chance meeting with Elita-One during a shipment of energon rations had him ecstatic to see her again (he hasn’t seen her since Megatron was banished from Iacon and OP left him in the care of others)

- Elita-One, while secretly happy to see B-127 again, fears that she’ll lose him if he becomes part of the Elite Guard, so she immediately denies B a promotion and tries to have him keep doing deliveries (not very successful so far)

- B-127, while initially shocked by the rejection, doesn’t really take it to heart and so every time he runs into Elita he immediately bombards her with demands over joining the Elite Guard; he has yet to see OP

Also here’s a doodle of Starscream and B:

- Over the course of the war and the Deceptions commit a few war crimes, B eventually looses the hero admiration he had on the High Guard

- Doing deliveries, while not as dangerous as outright fighting, is still a perilous job with resources becoming more scarce

here's soundwave and blaster! I'm very fond of portrayals of soundwave where he's a bit of an eldritch horror, so I definitely leaned a little into his TFP design.

soundwave is, as per usual, lead communication officer. he's blind, due to a pre-war incident and sees through the eyes of the cassettes. the cons are all aware of this, however its a well maintained secret from the autobots, blaster finds out by accident while on an intel mission. but for one reason or another.. has yet to tell the rest of his faction.

Just something I've thought about, I love how every little redemption Starscream has ever had,(besides maybe IDW where it was mostly Bee and Windblade who did most of the work) there's atleast some plot point where he ends up realizing maybe Optimus is way better than Megatron in terms of how kind he is to his soldiers.

It's in Armada where he admits that while he does still respect Megatron and still does want his approval,he said the first leader who ever showed him integrity was Optimus and that showed him how a true leader was supposed to be it wasn't just about how many battles they won,but about how one treated their subordinates.

It's in Redemption Center where he loses his memory and is pretty much reset to his pre war self he finds himself trusting Optimus and how reasonable and understanding he was,and how Optimus never forced him to stay or leave when Megatron and Soundwave came to get him back,and even after regaining his memory he does still look back on Optimus and takes inspiration (in a horribly twisted Starscream fashion)from it.

Even in the scrapped up plot of Cyberverse there was supposed to be a scene where Starscream messes up on something and Optimus wouldn't immediately beat him up for it and would try to encourage a more positive response that felt alien to him in general.

Then there's this quote from Redemption center.

Other urban legends:

"Megatron loves Cybertron" let's just burrrrn it

He did fight to save Cybertron in Chaos Theory but also made it pretty clear why he did it. It's not out of the goodness of his heart or any sentimental reasons like that. It's an ego/dominance thing.

Plus his wording when he's trying to convince Optimus to let him go with the Lost Light: "I broke the planet. And that, Optimus, is why I owe it to you - to everyone - to find a replacement."

Replacement.

In other words: I made a mess and can't be bothered to clean it up, so I want to get away from it and find somewhere new to start clean.

I don't think Optimus appreciates the favour.

"Megatron tore down a corrupt government" which is true, just too bad that he's worse

Megatron x dictatorship is literally his OTP. They were inseparable for four million years. A lot of people died trying.

"Megatron cares about the Decepticons" no he doesn't. Not his troops nor its cause.

Like for one thing he treats them with complete scorn

Admits that the most useful thing about keeping Starscream around is that he can bully underlings into line

Wants to use the humans' nuke to get rid of his troops and reformat them into peaceful drones after they outlive their use because they were "too ruthless" for his perfect peaceful society

Has zero scruples about fighting Deceptigod, just affronted that his own soldiers are being used against him

And basically just drops the Decepticons like a bag of vermin after he surrenders. He never once mentions them of his own accord, other than to insist he has nothing to do with them. Even his surrender speech is something Optimus makes him do as exchange b/c he wants to go on parole. He wasn't planning on making a public address otherwise, he was just going to leave them hanging.

Looking at the publication timeline, Megatron started out as an established Evil McEvilson-type villain similar to how he is in G1 and it's not until Chaos Theory in 2011 that JRo really gave him a sympathetic backstory that drew his characterization away from the bloodthirsty pugno ergo sum warlord into someone who once held ideals about societal reform and remains convinced of his own moral supremacy throughout the 4 mill years of death and war, adding worldbuilding such as Functionism/oppression/government corruption as justification for the beginning of the Decepticon movement. But because the start of the Decepticons was already written in Megatron Origins and every evil thing he'd done up till Chaos Theory can't be retracted and they had to keep Megatron as a villain until his story was no longer central to the Autobot-Decepticon war line, and JRo didn't try to downplay the atrocities he'd committed (some of the most sadistically disturbing things Megatron did were exclusively in MTMTE flashbacks), but rather tried to distance him from them and placed the focus on the juxtapositions to emphasize change, this as a whole just resulted in Evil McEvilson getting turned into Hyper McHypocrite.
