try to avoid talking as much as you can, higher support needs autistic people tend to be semi or nonverbal

if its available, you can use a phone or a tablet as an aac device to communicate! i recommend the app “weave chat” as it’s completely free and super customizable and even has a white board!!

keep headphones on you at all times if you have them, or even plug your ears when noises get too loud

wear basic and comfortable clothing; sensory issues are super common in autistic folks and hsn autism especially

im low-mid support needs so i don’t know everything… but i hope this is something!!

Also me whenever I have a therapy appointment: Time to lie about everything, aggressively downplay everything, and deliver canned/scripted responses to every question so that nothing appears suspicious.

Today I was told, “I really think you’ve improved. You feel a lot more present during sessions. And you get triggered a lot less.”

Yeah, because I wait to dissociate out of stress of having to talk to you until after session. And because I make sure never to bring up anything that could potentially be triggering. And because I am exceptionally good at looking to a Zoom camera like I’m doing a good job. Color me a practiced liar.

I contemplate identifying as transseverity for my mental illness. But, like, do I actually want it worse? Or do I want people to see it how it is? Because then I would just have to stop lying. That would literally be all I need to do.
