Instagram in these days is "all engagement " , but how it comes that in travel niche big generic travel pages dominate? I mean all they do is repost traveler's pictures, sure they they give some credit to a owner, but it would be nicer that real travelers and thei pages would get this them selfs. Sicilian Diaries - Palermo (05.04.18)

If you’ve been following me for a few weeks, you may have seen my little survey where I asked you whether you would like me to write about my travels!

I really like taking pictures of the places I visit and I’ll try to share them with you! Who knows, this could give you some inspiration! Also, if you aren’t interested, note that these posts will be tracked as #traveldiaries so you’ll be able to blacklist them!!

A big part of my family lives in Sicily (Italy). I spent my Easter vacations there and had the opportunity to visit a whole new city to me : the legendary city of Palermo, which well-known around the world for its culture and history but also for its never-ending battle with the mafia.

Therefore, Palermo belonged to different people for centuries and that’s what shaped this city : you’ll see it in the buildings, which have strongly beneficiated of the Norman and Arabian style.

You’ll also hear it! Palermitan is a language that is quite different from Italian, it’s more like a proper language than a dialect.

By walking on the streets, feel the atmosphere, listen to the music that is played on every corner enjoy the delicious food and the weather, which feels like summer nearly all year long !

Make sure you visit the local markets, you’ll be really amused by the people yelling and also singing, the different smells and the food!

You may also pass by the Palazzo dei Normanni, Palermo’s Cathedral, and Piazza dei Quattro Canti and Theatre Politeama, typical monuments with their own very typical architecture. 

So yes, Palermo is quite different from the other Italian cities. Like all Sicily, Palermo had had really diverse influences that drastically differs from the rest of Italy. It is definitely a must-see!
