being a yellowjackets multishipper is much like being a stockholder. there are so many complex, layered, delicious dynamics between all of the team members that you can choose to invest in. the market fluctuates so much every season and that one rarepair you never thought would really interact might suddenly be in the top ten. one stock might not be a big hitter but always keeps paying dividends with small scenes here and there. a single ship can make you rich and bankrupt you in the span of two episodes.

ok guys hear me out.. and please do so with an open heart. travis martinez had one of the best character developments in yellowjackets. it's subtle but he goes from being this macho man who was very much socialized to impose toughness i.e him being mysoginistic to nat in season 1 to seamlessly blending in with the girls and the wilderness. you can assume from the little that he opened up about to nat about it that his dad was a piece of shit that raised him with deep pressure to perform masculinity. then his dad died, his brother died and so did the pressure to be The Man. he started being socialized differently and breaking out of the gender norms that he felt so choked by in his coliving with the girls. now that i've defended myself and i wanna clarify i'm a lesbian too i think lottie nat and travis as a throuple would EAT harder than the girls ate jackie's body. i mean, the simultaneous tension and connection between them in the adult timeline (RIP) was so deep and we don't get enough of that in the teen timeline. i think the writers made a big mistake killing travis' adult character SO early in the season. it was ridiculous i mean THERE WAS SOME DEEP SHIT BETWEEN THEM 3 GOING ON. and the fact that natalie didnt believe in any of the wilderness shit yet she seemed so relieved to be there with lottie. and travis is the in between character struggling with the spiritual vs the cynical part of him which is lottie and nat, respectively. i mean lets not forget that when travis and nat finally had sex he was literally seeing VISIONS OF LOTTIE. and wheter you like it or not that was the closest we got to a lottienat sexual or even romantic scene. yes more so than the bathtub scene. was lottie doing astral projection bc she wanted to be there to fuck them?? who knows. i just know there's a lot of untapped potential there.

i can’t remember if any yellowjacket was officially part of newspaper or yearbook but i imagine one of them would at least be interested in documenting the crash officially, particularly early on in the crash when they still had hope for a quick rescue. it was 1996 that plane would have been crawling with digital cameras and probably some disposable ones too and if one person was in charge of storing them and using the battery slowly, turning it on and off to take lone pictures, they probably could have kept a camera going well into the crash, and if someone had a film camera it could have lasted even longer. that might have even been fun at first, taking pictures because how often do you stand next to a crashed plane? later on it could be used to shock a bit of the real world back into their group. someone would say smile and the group would snap back to that last pep rally, and someone else would laugh and say “moms gonna love that” and they could pretend they believed they’d go home. maybe they wanted photos of positive times to bring home to family, or to prove that they really did wear those silly looking headbands, or to prove that the walls weren’t bleeding when you swore they did. only i don’t think mari would be the photographer since she’s pretty defined in her role of both a disciple and the chef, and I don’t think it would be shauna since she mostly journals and writes to document. whoever it was (eighth survivor akilah) untimely failed, since all the cameras would have burned (thank the wilderness) in the fire. which was good, because as lovely it would have been to see proof that jackie smiled out there at all, none of them wanted to tell her parents why she was alive six months after the plane had gone down. anyways here’s some lost photos from 1996

thinking of how in 1.07 natalie reassures travis about wanting to be intimate with him by telling him "it means something to me. especially with you" and their song is basically vienna by ultravox whose most famous line is "this means nothing to me" and plays both when natalie finds travis' body in the barn and in the finale when travis tells her he loves her in the wilderness/present-day natalie gets rid of the police images of his corpse
