My chickens found some lovely wild, native cherry trees on my property this morning. Shows you how much I explore my own yard. Haha! Georgia native cherries are extremely toxic to humans and other mammals, except for the fruit of just three varieties. Be wary though, the pits are also toxic. Apart from the fruit, the leaves, stems, and pits contain a chemical called prunasin, which is converted to hydrogen cyanide. This is a natural defense against herbivores. Because of this, native cherry can be used in protection charms as well as hexes where you wish to poison your target's luck or prospects. Native cherry trees are usually one of the first succesional trees to grow after a disturbance as well. They are very hardy and often considered a weed tree. Because of this, they can be used in spells for success, prosperity, and endurance. The heart-shaped red cherries can be used in love spells and rituals to attract or keep a lover. While some native cherries can be used for medicinal purposes, be wary. The ancient coffin trails sprawl across the hills in Scotland. This coffin trail is in Aberdeenshire- where my coven originates from. ⁠ ⁠ My coven Lady taught us to whisper to these trees, and that our messages would pass from tree to tree to all the witches in surrounding villages, if they so choose to listen. ⁠ ⁠ There is much folklore about the coffin roads- ⁠they were created not only to make travelling between different churches and villages easier for burial, but also that the spirit that drifted close to the coffin would get to the graveyard unobstructed. Tree Attunement Exercise

Today I went to Crown Hill Cemetery to spend time with some beautiful, ancient trees. I did a Tree Attunement Exercise.  I spent a lot of time feeling their energy and thanking them for all the life they’ve given. Surprisingly, all of the trees felt very warm to the touch, and they were very calming to be around. I left feeling very fulfilled.
