39. Weirdest character concept you’ve ever had: Mycroft and Sherlock as fae royalty, who get mixed up in Molly's civilian, non-magic life.

40. Share some backstory for one of your characters: Pulling this from my "Stuff of Improbable Legends" RPG AU: James Fucking McCoy, everyone. Originally the younger son of Leonard McCoy and Molly Hooper in his timeline, he gets sent to the past with his older sister and gets a do-over with all the horrific shit he went through. First off, the ex-girlfriend who tried to entrap him in marriage for a child that wasn't his isn't in the picture yet, and he works through a lot of his relationship issues by dating Zoe Sage...someone who used to babysit him in his timeline. Then through magical time travel shenanigans, said ex comes back, gives birth to the daughter, and Klaus Michaelson makes damn sure she gives the girl to James to take care of for however long they share the timeline...except when all the baddies from the past/future disappear, his daughter Desiree stays, so he gets to be an amazing single dad with the daughter he always wanted to raise but was never able to. And then, because life loves to fuck with him, he watches his parents get married in a whole different way at a whole different time, which somehow results in his mom giving birth to him and his sister as twins in this AU. But hey! Him and his dad get along so much better, and James is no longer a fucking mess. He's a happy person, bless him. And now I want to write more with him...

43. What do you do if/when characters don’t follow the outline? My outlines are more like vague smudges on a page that makes something like a timeline, so if my characters deviate I just let them.

47. Best way to procrastinate: Get lost in a research rabbit hole.

48. What’s the most self-insert character/scene you’ve ever written? I have an ENTIRE Buffyverse series that is my "ideal persona" dating Spike. It's not up on AO3 since I can't find it in its entirety, but yeah. It's called "The Giles Saga" and was born out of a RPG I was in at the time.

49. Which character would you most want to be friends with, if they were real? Molly Hooper, hands down.

See, Clara is not only American (and wealthy to boot), she's also best friends with John’s ex-fiancée. Whom she's placed in the wedding party. As Maid of Honor. And John just happens to be Best Man. Bloody brilliant.

A Promise Made to Be Broken by PlantsAreNeat (E, 37,018 w., 7 Ch. || Fake Relationship, Pining, Slow Burn, RST, Eventual Relationship, Primarily POV Sherlock) – A young John makes an ‘if we’re still single at 40, we’ll get together’ pledge to a woman who ends up all wrong for him. Well, since I have whittled down my WIPBB list to five, I will talk about the only actual AU I have there, which is a Treklock fic set in the world of a book series ("Harmony" by Jayne Castle). It's Khanolly and basically, this is a planet that people from Earth settled on ages ago where there are all these alien structures made out of glowing green material unknown to them, and they all developed powers, some of them being related to the green buildings.

Molly is a person who destroys ghosts in the green tombs (ghosts are energy beings that block certain pathways, and keep in mind, people have gotten lost in those tombs and died when running into ghosts). She's effectively immortal with super healing abilities. She does this job at night to run a clinic for the less fortunate in New London, and he clinic and home being ransacked is what brings her to the attention of one John Harrison, formerly known as Khan Noonien Singh.

John was one f the first settlers on Harmony but moved to New London for the looser rules on having lovers outside of being married to them. But most of his lovers are dead and gone now and it's been some time since he's had one. When Molly's home and clinic are destroyed, he takes her in as a roommate and starts falling for her from day one, but he wonders where the bruises on her body come from each morning as she bakes bread. When he figures out she's like him almost, being effectively immortal, he decides he'll do whatever it takes to protect her.

2021 Round - Artist Claims

Claims for artists are open! The first round will go this week and then I'll post a new round on Thursday, opening it up for seconds. Everybody spread the word! We have 96 story summaries for you to choose from!

This year, art claims are working a little differently than in years past. We are using a google form to streamline things, which should make things easier both for you as participants and us mods. To claim a story, the form requires email, check in ID, and the identifying number of your first choice of story. Putting your top three choices is best in case your first or second has already been chosen. Please be sure you've read the FAQ before claiming.

Stories are listed by fandom in alphabetical order and then by the story name, with a number identifying that story (for our records). Stories are first come, first serve. I'll update the post as stories are claimed. On Thursday, I'll temporarily close the form and post the stories that are left.

Official posting dates begin on August 8th. Once all stories are claimed and all artists/authors have been notified, I will put up a sign-up sheet so authors and artists can choose their posting dates.

So I decided I will write the series this is a part of out of order, and this is the bit where Molly helps Khan escape, throwing the events of STID into complete disarray and definitely going canon divergent.

She really didn’t want to have to kill anyone, but if that was what it took for her to get him out of there, then that was what it took. She knew that there were super secret projects that John had been working on, but the discovery that the cryogenic chambers filled with people were going to be put into photon torpedoes...that was too much. She knew now that what he had said was true, all of it. Marcus was a danger and they needed to get to safety. Get his crew to safety.

And the only way to do that was to fight.

As much as there were overviews and secrecy in the labs, she’d managed to create two phasers in her own lab at home with parts she’d smuggled out of the lab. She was sure Marcus had been leery of her, knowing what was known about the past of Khan Noonien Singh. But it only further proved the truth, that Marcus was a man out for revenge on...well, the world. All over the destruction of the Starfleet armada all those years ago. If he drenched the universe in the blood of every Klingon and the blood of any other hostile alien races in the universe and beyond, so be it.

And she would play no part in that, nor would she allow John...Khan to be manipulated any further. She went to his cell and put in the code before opening it to his surprised face. “It’s time to run,” she said.

She expected him to argue, to ask what she was doing, but he simply nodded as he stood, came swiftly to her and kissed her with a passion no man she had kissed before had possessed. If her hands hadn’t been full she would have clung to him, but he took one phaser out of her hand and then pulled away, the heat still in his eyes. “Let’s go,” he said, moving around her to leave his cell, and she did what she knew she would always do: she followed.

Alright, you guys. This fic has been five years in the works, and while it's still not done, I want to start getting it out there. Because maybe, just maybe, someone will like it. And maybe... maybe it will be motivating to me, if I get it out here. This fic is my baby, you guys. My flesh and blood. Five years, like I said. I will warn y'all that there's not really going to be a schedule for updates, and that... this will be pretty long, so.

That being said, if this is at ALL your cup of tea, I'd really appreciate it if you give it a read. My original idea for this (and this was started just after Into Darkness, before Season Three of Sherlock had even come out) was "OH! What if the Star Trekkers meet Sherlock and think he's Khan, because haha! Same actor! How clever am I!1!!11!" Nearly five years later, it's become so much more than that, and I'm so excited to finally start sharing it with people who aren't just my irl friends.

John crossed his arms. “This is London, Greg. People claim everything around here. What’s so special about these three?”

“They don’t exist,” Greg responded simply.
