Hey Mickey Mouse and Friends Fandom!
(Referring to both Duckverse and mouseverse fans)
So like there is something I noticed that i wanna share ~
So like we all are aware that Tress Macnielle has been voicing Daisy Duck since 1999 { "Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas" being the first one to feature her }
So like I found out that Tress had apparently quit the role?? I could not find much info on it but she wasn't there in Mickey Saves Christmas and The second season of Mickey Mouse Funhouse
So like I found some stuff on the internet
cause Disney never tells us anything properly
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source
So it seems Tress decided to quit Funhouse as she was busy with other stuff and Debra Wilson will now be taking over the role. It's a lot like the Tony Anslemo - Daniel Ross situation at the time of DT17 and Roadster Racers.
So thing is it's not confirmed whether tress has quit the role of Daisy's main voice actor or is it just for Now.
Honestly The new Voice is also really good and the difference is very little only hardcore fans and viewers will notice.
But still indeed in my opinion nobody can do a Daisy Duck impression like Tress, she does the perfect blend between sassy and sweet voice it fits Daisy so well. Also Funhouse isn't that important of a show to this franchise overall so it doesnt matter much if she isn't in one show but i really hope she reprises her role in other Mickey media ( Good upcoming shows (?) Or future Paul Rudish content)

"And the Warner sister!
Princess Angelina Contessa Louisa Francesca Banana Fanna Bo Besca The III
Boys (go fig)
Call me Dottie and you die." (Dot Warner, Animaniacs.)
Throughout much of my childhood even though I watched all sorts of cartoons. But until I reached the ripe age of ten I never related to any of the female characters. They were always too cutesy and not the right amount of tough or they were just a plain old fashioned ditz. It wasn't until I was in the fourth grade once again where this time a girl would change everything for me. This girl character was of course, Dot Warner the Warner sister in the trio.
It was through Dot that I found my voice. I was always too quiet and afraid of offending people but then I saw how snarky Dot was and how unafraid she was of speaking her mind. Whenever there was somebody talking down to her for her "cute" nature she was never afraid to smack talk them to their face. I continue to think about all my favorite moments of Dot snark but I think my ultimate favorite actually comes from the reboot. In the sketch where they're working with the conductor Dot asks him "Who says waving your arms around is a creative process?" I was laughing so hard that my sides were hurting.
I think a lot of the time in cartoons the animators are afraid of making the girls go "full feral" for fear that they'll look less attractive or less relatable if they just go ham with the animation. The only place where I haven't thought that was the case was with the animators for Dot. They're never afraid to make her look like an absolute crazed madwoman. Yes she's cute but that also isn't afraid to absolutely nuts. She carries a giant squeaky hammer in the reboot and to me that just suits her personality. Another thing for "cute" animation is I love the updated ears and how they move around and can be so expressive.
Tumblr media
(This is one of those things that I'm talking about. Usually there's this way that animators are afraid to not let their characters get too out of hand but I've always loved when Dot would just lose her cuteness and she would yell at either her brother's or the character from history that they were acting off of.)
If you haven't talked to me for x amount of time than this will be news to you but my favorite voice actress is my wine aunt Tress MacNielle. She's best known for voicing dozens of characters on The Simpsons, Babs Bunny in Tiny Toons, Osono in Kiki's Delivery Service. But to me, she's always going to be Dot Warner. Dot is one of the few impressions that I can do because I talk with her naturally. A few of my friends have asked me about impressions and singing voice but the closest comparison that I've come up with has been Tress's voice now especially her singing voice. It was the first time that I've heard somebody who sung like me in a cartoon.
To me nobody does cute quite like Dot Warner. It's hard to be cute and funny but for me Dot manages it. To me, Dot can be the funniest character on the show and is tragically the most underrated. Most of the fans will either love Yakko or Wakko (I mean I love Yakko too) but to me the most relatable female in cartoons has always been the Warner sister. To the point where one of my favorite urls that I might go back to when the second season is announced was: call-me-Dottie-and-you-die. I loved Dot when I was a kid and that love has stuck with me as an adult. I hope one day I'm able to meet Tress at a con since it's been my dream to thank her for everything that she did for me when I was growing up.

How much of Disney Afternoon have you seen and thoughts on the shows from that era you saw?
Ahhh I think the best way to handle this ask is in list form!
Tumblr media
I’ll use the list of shows off Wikipedia to make sure I don’t miss any.
I was born in 1992 so most of my memories of Disney Afternoon shows are actually of watching reruns of them all day long with my big brother at my grandma’s old house during summers in the mid-late ‘90s.
The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
Tumblr media
I mean, obviously I started watching that in diapers. We actually had a couple episodes on VHS that I watched at home a lot, and I got to see the rest of the show at grandma’s (we usually just had basic cable at home).
Adventures of the Gummi Bears
Weirdly, we didn’t watch it. I wonder if my mom didn’t let us because of the magic? Like I get some parents not letting their kids watch stuff with magic, but I don’t get how weirdly selective most of them are about it. Most parents who ban certain shows or movies because of magic will still let their kids watch other things with magic.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
DuckTales (1987)
My school’s daycare had some episodes on VHS (including “Duck to the Future” ...*shudders*) and I think they had the movie, too. I also remember renting the movie from Blockbuster and watching it perched on the end of my mom’s bed. DuckTales usually wasn’t on during the day during summers though, from what I remember... if we ever saw it at Grandma’s house, it was if we were spending the night there. It’d come on in the evenings.
Chip ‘n’ Dale Rescue Rangers
Tumblr media
OKAY THIS SHOW WAS NUMBER ONE I ADORED EVERYTHING ABOUT IT. It had my first OTP, I made my first OCs for it... I’m pretty sure this show is what made me like... a fandom kinda fan. I re-watched the whole series again when I was 15, but it’s been a while. My favorite episode when I was little was “Out to Launch.”
TaleSpin
I watched it sometimes. It’d be the show that was on when my mom would drop us off at Grandma’s at 7:30 am. Not sure why I never got super into it. Maybe I was just anticipating the shows I liked more that would come on later in the morning? Or I was confused how Baloo from The Jungle Book could be a pilot with clothes. Those kinds of things confuse kids, ya know?
Darkwing Duck
Tumblr media
This was my second fave as a kid, and one of the ones I re-watched when I was 15. It started to mean a whole lot more to me then, since I was learning to come to terms with not growing up with a dad in the house, and seeing Drake with Gosalyn simultaneously made me grieve over that and find comfort knowing as a Christian God is my adoptive Father. <3
What’s that? You wanna see a Drake and Gosalyn AMV that’s absolutely flawless and will make you cry? Well look no further. Here’s a link to “Darkwing Duck & Gosalyn- You are Loved (Don’t Give Up)” by Villaness.
Goof Troop
This is another one I didn’t watch all the time. But I would sometimes. Didn’t love it, didn’t hate it.
Bonkers
Tumblr media
This one was probably my third favorite. I loved Fall Apart. Just thinking about the show makes me crave mac ‘n’ cheese, since it usually came on at lunchtime and that’s all I ever wanted my grandma to make for me. XD Also Bonkers was mac ‘n’ cheese colors. Even his little police uniform was blue like the Kraft box. Good times.
Aladdin (the series)
Yup, I watched it. Wasn’t my fave, but wasn’t boring.
Quack Pack
Tumblr media
Shoot, I kinda wanna tie this with Bonkers as my third favorite from when I was a kid. I loved Quack Pack. I thought it was cool seeing HDL as teenagers. I liked Louie the best. Weirdly though when I try to re-watch it... I dunno, I get bored really fast. So I haven’t watched it all the way through again.  Half the time I imagine Daisy saying something though I still hear it in my head with Kath Soucie’s voice instead of Tress MacNielle’s because of Quack Pack. XD
Mighty Ducks
Didn’t watch it... not really a sports fan.
The Lion King’s Timon and Pumbaa
Tumblr media
I liked this one a lot. Usually episodes of this on VHS would be my go-to at Blockbuster, and I’d watch it at Grandma’s, too.
Gargoyles
I don’t think I was allowed to watch it. I wasn’t really interested in it, anyway.
101 Dalmatians (the series)
Tumblr media
Given the movie was one of my favorite movies as a kid, of course I liked the series based off it. Sometimes the theme song STILL gets stuck in my head, even though I can’t really remember all the lyrics.
Doug
I actually got to watch this throughout the year, since it’d also air on ABC on Saturday mornings (with Recess and such). But Doug was in junior high and I couldn’t totally relate to him yet, so I preferred Recess.
Hercules (the series)
We weren’t allowed to see the movie so we just assumed we couldn’t watch the show, either.
Some other shows I’d watch on the Disney Channel or Toon Disney were Madeline, The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, The Little Mermaid (series), and Jungle Cubs.
Hey, was anyone else watching the Jungle Cubs episode “The Coming of the Wolves,” in Summer 2000 when Toon Disney just suddenly vanished from channel 52 (I think we had Charter cable)? Like, Cartoon Network on channel 51 still worked, 53 (whatever it was) worked, but 52 just became black and white static for no reason. Sad day. I liked Toon Disney better than the Disney Channel.
A few years later when my brother and I were old enough to stay home alone (and Grandma moved 2.5 hours away, besides), mom would get good cable for us during summer and I found Toon Disney on channel like... 304? But by then my favorite shows weren’t even airing anymore. :/

One of my favorite parts of working on Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi before it opened a year ago was directing and recording the animated voice talent for the attractions here at Thinkwell.
We have a tradition of asking them to leave their badge behind in the booth after their session as a memento, and it always makes me smile knowing the incredible voice talent that has come through our doors like Kevin Conroy, Tress MacNielle, Frank Welker, Maurice LaMarche, Kate Micucci, Erin Grey Griffin, Gabrielle Carteris, John Kassir, Tara Strong, Ray Wise, Jim Cummings, and Jeff Bergman.
We didn't shoot a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff, but here’s a phone video I shot during Frank Welker's session. It's kind of amazing that he does both Fred AND Scooby-Doo. You can hear me in the background giggling and freaking out over it all. I regressed to childhood.

“Kiki! Hey look it's me!
This isn't dust on the floor you know, it's flour
Oh great, now I'm suddenly the flight attendant
All right, first: Don't panic! Second: don't panic and third: did I mention not to panic?!" (Jiji, Kiki's Delivery Service.)
When you grow up in my house, you're introduced to Ghibli films from a young age. My favorite character from the age of four to seven was Kiki's cynical but loyal cat Jiji. Throughout much of my childhood this movie was playing in the background. It was a movie that I would watch with my dad and it remains one of his favorites as well. Growing up, Kiki was always the Miyazaki film that I watched the most. I related to Kiki's story of bravery and always idolized her for the way that she constantly stood her ground and went out of her way to change her own life. Jiji is her cat and her very best friend who is along for the ride with cynical jokes and a dry sense of humor. It perfectly balances Kiki's optimism and with Phil Hartman's performance bringing him to life he got even better. If you don't know Hartman's career he spent a good chunk of the 80's as a regular on SNL. He was a comedian first and foremost. That was his life blood and he had a lot of friends that are some of my biggest heroes. One of his best friend's in life was my female hero Tress MacNielle who was a part of the same comedy troop together throughout the Groundlings. This would come to be the third last project that he ever made and it was released posthumous after his tragic passing.
To me Jiji is days coming home and running to my small tv for a front row seat to watch his movie. It's afternoon's spent with my dad as he watched the movie with me. Jiji is one of those characters that we just quote constantly. Even though Totoro was my first Kiki was my favorite for a handful of years. When we moved into our house it was still the warm hug favorite Miyazaki film. It's a fluffy movie and it's one that I watch a lot. Most of that is because of Jiji and the adorable that he brings to the table.
Out of the Ghibli side characters that are animals Jiji is hands down my favorite (and yes I include Totoro and CatBus in this analogy). He's been my favorite since I was really little. Nothing makes me laugh as hard as Phil Hartman. When he was funny it was a different kind of side split-tingly funny. If you want to know what I mean look up some of his SNL stuff. I love his Bill Clinton impressions that he was able to do.
Jiji is a character that I have fallen in love with since I was a little. He just was always there for me. He was just super soft and cute and I always loved laughing with him. He was adorable, snarky, cynical, and openly hilarious. I loved watching him when I was a kid and I love watching him to this day.
