I like Tron Run/R but it confuses me why it's not on mobile.
Sanzaru Games. The devs behind Sly Cooper Thieves in Time. Made a mobile game. That's not on mobile devices. Damn.

In light of there being *even more* news that Jared Leto is a predator, I just wanna say, as a Tron fan? Do not go watch Tron Ares. Do not put money into a predator's pocket (or even pirate it and give him attention) just to watch the latest uninspired take on Tron. You do not need to support a sex pest if you wanna watch people in glowing bodysuits drive light up motorcycles around, or if you wanna listen to NIN really loud, or whatever the draw of Ares is.
Watch Tron, Tron Legacy, or Tron Uprising. Play Tron Identity, or Tron 2.0, or Run/r, or Evolution, or fucking Kingdom Hearts. Hell go ride the roller coasters. There's even comic spinoffs and old arcade cabinets! Just don't support Tron Ares!
"But if I pirate it-" You're giving a sex pest attention. Besides doesn't it ruin a movie a little bit to know the main actor is a creep when the cameras stop rolling? Stop it.
#this would be true even if he was a good actor or if ares was good#but he's not and ares is not gonna be good. there's no excuse

One of the things I like about the Tron video games is that it's never the same deal, it's always varied in its genre. While I'd like a sequel to really any one of them, it just gets old when they have a property that had a successful game in that genre and they decide to stay in it forever.
Discs of Tron, a semi blockade type.
Space Paranoids, a tank shooter.
Deadly Discs, a top down version of Discs.
Adventures, sidescroller.
Solar Sailer...what even is that?
2.0, FPS.
Killer App, Isometric.
Evolution, 3rd person action adventure
Battle Grids, I guess would be considered racing.
Run/R, a- self explanatory!
Identity, visual novel
and now Catalyst, a rogue-lite (like?)

Poly! Elite x wrestler reader?
Please I love anything poly elite
Elite's Princess (Poly! Elite x Feminine! Wrestler! Reader)
Warnings : Age Gaps (Reader is 25)
Ever since you were a child you had always loved wrestling, even leading up into your teenage years it was always a passion for you, when you were just 16 you started training, getting into NJPW at the age of 20, you encountered people you looked up to as a kid and that was definitely the highlight of your career.
All of that had led you up to this moment, you fasten the laces of your wrestling boots and tie them up in a neat little bow, you stood up and checked yourself out in the mirror, straightening your puffy skirt out and fixing up the frills on your gloves (The outfit would be something like Mizuki's).
Tonight you had your first championship match since joining the AEW, you had a match against Toni Storm and you were hellbent on taking the title off of her, as I'm straightening my long entrance robe out(Like Charlotte Flair), a swift knock on the door of your locker room door caught your attention and you walk over to the door "Who is it?" you question.
"Guess" you squealed and flung the door open "Kenny!" you pulled him down into a hug and looked past him to see the rest of the elite, you smile widely at them and let go of Kenny "Hey! what are you guys doing here?" "come to congratulate you! not every day someone gets a title shot angel face" Nick spoke up as the boys all came into the room "Thanks! I can't wait till I have the championship gold around my waist!"
"Look at the princess, all suited up" said Adam as he stepped over and stared at your robe, picking it up "Arm's up princess, want to see how you look in this" you follow his demand and he slips it onto you, the boys all stare and nod "You look too good to lose princess, now let's get you out there" you nod and make your way to the guerilla with the boys, waiting for your queue "And her Challenger hailing from (Wherever)! The Princess Of The Elite! (Y/R/N)!" your music suddenly starts up and you sashay your way out, doing little spins in your coat to show the fluff and frill.
The match was going as planned, the crowd was roaring and the cheers were getting louder, until the outcasts came out to ringside to 'spectate' it all went downhill, while Saraya distracted the referee Ruby handed Toni the title and she smashed me across the face with it, I was bent halfway in the ring and Toni ran over, hooking my head between her legs, and hitting me with a storm zero, I felt the air knocked out of my lungs as I struggled to keep my breath, Toni scurries over and pins me, but mid 2 count the lights go out and the ref has to stop the count.
You managed to get up and watched as the titan Tron managed to light up the arena, in a blue shine, your theme was playing as you saw four figures step out from behind the guerilla, it seemed to have all of the outcasts attention as Toni stepped towards the ropes opposite to me "turn around bitch!" I yelled and sprint towards her, hitting her with a V-trigger and watching as she collapses onto the ground, I watch as the Elite start making their way down the ramp but the outcasts block them.
I run to the other end of the ropes and flip over them, taking both Saraya and Ruby out, I look back and Toni got back up so I get myself back up onto the apron and spring board flip over, hitting her with a buckshot lariat, I lay over her as the ref starts counting "1....2.....3!" I scream as I crawl off of Toni, holding my head in shock, then slipping out of the ring, ripping my title from the table and lifting it up.
I back up into the elite with my title raised "I cant believe this! The Elite's Princess actually won the title!" came from the announcers desk, you didn't care who it was, you just cared you were a champion in the arms of your lovers as you made your way backstage.
I had sat down on my couch and immediately got pounced on by all the boys, I giggle as they all hug me "Our little champion, you did so good out there princess" you smile at Adam and peck his cheek "Thanks" all the boys were proud of you and all showed it in their own way, peppering kisses anywhere they could on your skin as they cuddled you into the couch.
"Now we should go out to dinner to celebrate then?" Kenny asks and I immediately smile widely "I CALL SHOTGUN!" everyone in the room laughs, and I couldn't be happier in this moment then with my boys
A/N I hope you like this because I had fun with this

TRON games discounted up to 75% during the Steam Spring 2024 sale

The Steam Spring 2024 sale has started, and TRON games are discounted up to 75% off until March 21, 2024!
TRON 2.0 ($2.49 USD): https://store.steampowered.com/app/327740/TRON_20/
TRON RUN/r ($9.99 USD for Ultimate Edition with all DLC): https://store.steampowered.com/app/392000/TRON_RUNr/
TRON Identity ($11.99 USD): https://store.steampowered.com/app/2109430/Tron_Identity/
While you can install and play the games as-is, I’d recommend checking out these guides on Steam if you want to experience the games at their best:
TRON 2.0 Steam guide: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=325088441
TRON RUN/r Steam guide: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=585222834
Even though the guides are hosted on the Steam site, the advice in the TRON 2.0 guide also applies to the GOG (and Retail disc) version. Modding the game will add support for widescreen display resolutions, and even fix the broken Multiplayer so you can play it again.
And, yes, all three games will work on any recent version of Windows. Including the latest releases of Windows 10 and 11.
Even the Retail disc (CD/DVD) version of TRON 2.0 can be made to work on Windows 10 and 11, if you follow the first two steps of advice in the Steam guide.
All three TRON games (2.0, RUN/r, Identity) can be played on the Steam Deck, too!

The Last Starfighter: 40 Years Later

“GREETINGS STARFIGHTER! YOU HAVE BEEN RECRUITED BY THE STAR LEAGUE TO DEFEND THE FRONTIER AGAINST XUR AND THE KO-DAN ARMADA.”

With those two sentences that came right from the speaker of the cabinet of the – fictional -- arcade game Starfighter, an incredible adventure will began for Alex Rogan!
A young man living in a trailer park, Rogan has great expectations but his chances of success are against all odds. Just when his dream of a higher education was shattered, he received a chance of a lifetime. The Starfighter game was also a test to find those with “the gift” to be real starfighters by breaking the record on it.
And as the poet said, the rest is history...

"Welcome to Rylos, my boy!"
In 1971, the first arcade videogame was released, Computer Space. A decade later, arcade videogames became a pop culture phenomenon.
They were in every place, not only in bars, game rooms, bowling allies and amusement parks. They were also supermarkets, theatre lobbies and also in odd places like laundromats and funeral homes opened places for gamers eager to play them.
Arcade games became an icon of the 80s!
In that decade, a technological development was also creating a revolution in the communications industry, particullry the visual media, computer generated imagery, commonly known as CGI.
In 1982, Walt Disney Pictures released the first movie with an extensive use of CGIs, Tron. Two years later, the formely known a Metro Goldwyn Mayer, Lorimar Productions decided to take the CGIs out of this world with The Last Starfigther.
About the production:
While writer Jonathan R. Betuel was on his lunch break from his then regular job, he went to an arcade and got the first idea for The Last Starfighter. It was also heavily influenced by his reading of T. H. White's The Once and Future King. Hence, in the script, Grig tells Centauri about “the Excalibur trick.”

In the first draft, Alex Rogan was suppossed to live in a suburban area. It was changed in favor of a trailer park. Director Nick Castle made the change in favor of giving his film its own identity.
The Canyon Country, a neighborhood in Santa Clarita, California was used for the Starlite Starbrite Trailer Park setting.

With exception of the makeup and explosions, all the other special effects for the movie were computer graphics done by Digital Productions using the -- then powerful -- the Cray X-MP supercomputer.
27 of the 101 minutes of the film's running time were rendered by DP.

The Star Car was built by the famous car designer and builder, Gene Winfield. He also designed and built the Galileo 7 shuttlecraft for Star Trek: The Original Series.

About the legacy...
The Last Starfighter made 29 millon Dollars at the box office in North America, recovering its budget of 15 million Dollar but not quite a smash hit. Its producers consider it as “the most expensive B movie ever made.” It became a cult film, with an extensive following.
A musical adaptation was produced at the Storm Theatre Off-Off Broadway in New York City in October 2004. A recording of the performance was published in November 2005.
A novelization of the film was written by Alan Dean Foster. A comic book was published in issue 31 of Marvel Super Special by Marvel Comics. It was adapted to the format by writer Bill Mantlo and artists Bret Blevins and Tony Salmons. It was also available as a three-issue miniseries.

In the same year of its debut, producer of tabletop miniature war games, FASA, published three game based on the movie: Combat Game, Duel In Space and Tunnel Chase.
Videogame manufacturer, Atari Games, had plans to publish and arcade game and its conversions for their consoles and personal computer but neither of them saw the daylight as games from The Last Starfighter.
Only one console, the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), saw an adaptation but it was only a renaming of a game Uriduim. Originally released in the Commodore 64 personal computer.

About the main cast:
Lance Guest: A graduate from a major in Theatre at UCLA. Guest made his debut in the movies with a supporting role in the 1981 film, Halloween II. His roles of Alex Rogan and the Beta Unit in The Last Starfigther were the most notable of his career. He later appeared in films like the 1987, Jaws: The Revenge, but later he becomes more involved in on ad off-Broadway theatrical productions.

Catherine Mary Stewart: She attended the Strathcona Composite High School in Canada and later moved to London to study dance and general performing arts. Stewart made her film debut in the musical science fiction cult movie, The Apple in 1980. Stewart was a well established actress on television before she landed for the role of Maggie Gordon on the feature film.
She had a vast career on both TV and film until mid-90s, when she made a brief retirement to raise her family. Later she returned to the show business as actress and director.

Robert Preston: He was a very acomplished stage and film actor. In 1957, the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for his performance in the stage play, The Music Man. His character in The Last Starfigther, Centauri, was modeled after his characterization of Professor Harold Hill. The one that made him worth of the award. He also won a nomination for the Academy Award for his performance in th 1982 film, Victor/Victoria. His role of Centauri in 1984 was his last appearance in a motion picture. He passed away in 1987 of a lung cancer.

Dan O'Herlihy: Although he was graduated in 1944 from a Degree in Architecture at University College Dublin, O'Herlihy pursuit a career in acting. He was successful on radio, TV and film. He won a nomiation for an Academy Award in 1954 for his performance in the lead character in the movie, Robinson Crusoe. Before his role of Grig at The Last Starfighter, he made a guest-appearance in the science fiction epic, Battlestar Galactica in the second part of the episode Gun on Ice Planet Zero as Dr. Ravishol. Another important appearances in sci-fi feature films for O'Herlihy were as The Old Man in Robocop (1988) and Robocop II (1990). His last performance in film was in the 1988 film The Rat Pack as Joseph P. Kennedy, Sr. O'Herlihy passed away in 2005 due to natural cause.

Norman Snow: Graduated from a Bachellor of Fine Arts at Juilliard School, Snow was recognized by his fellows as an accomplished character actor. Most of his acting career was done on TV. One of his most reknowed performances on the small screen was in an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation episode from season six, Rightful Heir, as a Klingon named Torin. On the big screen, his career was very sporadic. One of the most important moments was when he was cast for the role of the main villain in The Last Starfighter, Xur. Norman Snow passed away in November of 2022.

There is a cameo appearence by actor Wil Wheaton during the first minutes of the film.

About the (part of) production staff:
Nick Castle: Film director, and also he has been screenwriter and actor in many other projects. Many of them with his friend and classmate of University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts, John Carpenter. The Last Starfighter was his second directional project. Castle's first film was Tag: Assassination Game in 1982.
Jonathan Betuel: Writer whose first novel, The Dogfighter was published whe he was 21. Betuel began to develop interest in screenplays while he was in NYU Film School. Then, decided to pursue a career in screenwriting.
Craig Safan: Composer for film and television. Since his early years, he developed an interest in and learned to play music. Graduated from Brandelis University from a major in Fine Arts. He won many ASCAP awards for his compositions. In addition to the music for The Last Starfighter, Safan wrote scores for many major movies such as Stand and Deliver, Major Payne, Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins, and music for the TV series, Cheers.
Ron Cobb: Film conceptual designer, and also Cobb was writer and cartoonist. Started his career working as an inbetweener/breakdown artist on the classic Walt Disney Pictures animated feature film, Sleeping Beauty. During his service with the U.S. Army, Cobb became a political cartoonist. His first job in a film was the design of a starship for John Carpenter's Dark Star. Eventually, Ron Cobb worked on the conceptual designs for films like Star Wars, Alien, Back to the Future, Aliens, The Abyss, Space Truckers, Titan A.E. among others. Cobb passed away on September 21, 2020.
40 years later...
I had the chance of watching The Last Starfigther when it made its debut in a double feature with Sixteen Candles. Not a contender to dethrone the Star Wars movie franchise. But indeed, it was more a motivational film for me.
It showed me that sometimes extraordinary things can happen to ordinary people, like me. When you came from places like a trailer park, or a public housing complex, you do not expect something wonderful to happen, but chances are.
Just listen to the words of advice from Otis – character played by actor Vernon Washington:

“Things change. Always do. You'll get your chance! Important thing is, when it comes, you gotta grab it with both hands and hold on tight!”
Enjoy the movie...

This is a companion piece to @trong-legacy's post on Team Green from Walt Disney World's Tron Lightcycle / Run, expanding on the various character models used.
I've compiled the character models from several different sources, comparing different versions of them.
All of the models seem to be based on the ones found in Tron: Evolution and TRON RUN/r, so I'll be showing all of them off.

Picture only version of this post
-

All right, for starters, we're gonna talk about the makeup of Team Green for a moment.
The original group shot of Team Green features twelve different programs.
There's also a wall showing eight more programs and then three more programs get individual bios.
Interestingly, the eleven named programs don't match up to the original twelve, so there's potentially up to twenty three different Team Green programs at this time, if they're all unique.
Disney has also said that there'd be more stories from Team Green, so there may be even more out there in the future. Interestingly, they mention the twelve while showing the original group shot, but I'm not sure if that's an oversight, considering the named programs are quite a bit different.
There's different helmets between all the characters, but I'm going to refer to them as their body types, since the circuits don't change much.
The group picture has: 1 Heavy Sentry, 2 Siren, 2 Clu, 2 Rinzler, 2 Quorra, 1 Anon, 1 Scout Sentry, and 1 Sentry.
The individual pictures have: 2 Scout Sentry, 1 Black Guard, 2 Anon, 1 Clu, 1 Sentry, 2 Quorra, 1 Heavy Sentry, and 1 Rinzler.
There's some crossover there, but, there's also different helmets, which makes it hard to figure out exactly how many unique programs there are.
-
TRON: Evolution Model | Tron Files | TRON: Evolution Voice Lines | "Stay rezzed, program"
I'm starting off with Tron here. His Lightcycle / Run Rinzler model is based off the TRON RUN/r Rinzler model. The RUN/r model has a few unique quirks, and so does the Evolution one, making it fairly easy to tell them apart.
On Team Green, two out of the three Rinzler models keep Tron's signature T circuits (as does one of the Siren models).
TRON: Evolution Model | Tron Files | TRON: Evolution Voice Lines
Quorra has, by far, the most amount of models, with three different ones in RUN/r, the Bitstream model in Fortnite, and is used several times in Lightcycle / Run.
Interestingly, @trong-legacy and I discovered that both Evolution and RUN/r forgot to light up her vertical circuit on her chest, while both Lightcycle / Run and Fortnite remembered it.
TRON: Evolution Model | Tron Files | TRON: Evolution Voice Lines
Clu's model is somewhat interesting as his helmet is used for several other Team Green members.
At the time of publishing the look at Team Green, @trong-legacy and I hadn't been able to source Clu's helmet, speculating that it was perhaps from the multiplayer DLC model.
@cmdrjanus-2 has access to the TRON: Evolution models, thanks to this pack at SFMLab and I asked her about Clu's helmet and she kindly set it up for me so I could look at it. We're not sure if it's the exact same as the Evolution one, but I greatly appreciate her help!
However, shortly after publication, I found one scene in Evolution with him wearing his helmet, right around when he stages his coup. However, the circuit lights on his helmet are not lit up.
Like Quorra, his model is used quite a few times throughout Lightcycle / Run, but he's got a different helmet in most of them.
TRON: Evolution Model | Tron Files
I was glad to seen Anon from TRON: Evolution again.
I was unsure of who the yellow model there belonged to, until I saw this post and realized that the circular hand circuits belong to him.
The Siren is a fairly interesting one, because there's a few unique aspects to her.
The Siren in TRON RUN/r is specifically labeled as Gem, and the Team Green versions appear to be based on her.
One of the Team Green Sirens has Tron's T for some reason, which is kinda neat, especially since she's potentially the only female program to wear Tron's circuits. (@trong-legacy and I joked that she's my Tron OC Ark, who isn't a Siren, but is a Renegade.)
The Siren is also the only character in the queue to be portrayed by a real person, instead of a CGI one.
At the Tron Lightcycle Power Run in Shanghai, they have a different Siren in the queue.
TRON: Evolution Model | Tron Files
The Sentry is the most basic enemy in TRON: Evolution. They're former System Monitors, which is why I included the original System Monitor in this image. They share a few circuit details, but the ones in Lightcycle / Run are definitely the Occupation Sentry version.
I think it's neat that they also brought back the Sentries and their variants. There's some Sentries in TRON: Legacy, but all of the different variants are only in Evolution.
TRON: Evolution Model | Tron Files
The Scout Sentry is a more advanced enemy in TRON: Evolution, but, like the Sentries, used to be a System Monitor.
@trong-legacy noticed that the Lightcycle / Run version of their helmets was colored in slightly differently, so you can still kinda tell where the original split was.
TRON: Evolution Model | Tron Files
Like the Scout Sentry, the Heavy Sentry is an advanced enemy that used to be a System Monitor in TRON: Evolution.
TRON: Evolution Model | Tron Files
In TRON: Evolution, the Black Guard are modified Sentries, which means that they also used to be System Monitors. They're a fairly dangerous enemy when you encounter them.
-
That's all of the TRON Lightcycle / Run characters for now! Hopefully Disney will add more details about Team Green over time and I'll be able to add them to this collection.
Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed it!

[Review] Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal (3DS)
Maybe Sonic Boom works better in 2D than 3D.
Alongside Rise of Lyric, Sega commissioned a handheld companion game within their Sonic Boom line. Development duties went to Sanzaru Games, another American studio who had previously made the Sly Cooper 3D platformers. This is actually their first 2D game (well, 2.5D anyway) and while it's less ambitious than RoL, it is much more successful at fulfilling those lower ambitions.
While RoL had a flash-forward cold open, this one abruptly starts in medias res with Lyric accosting Amy. Amy apparently is an archaeologist of sorts, and Lyric mind controls her to find the secrets of a lost extra crystal, tying into the MacGuffin objects in RoL. This sadly puts Amy in the "damsel in distress" role, but it does make room on the D-pad character switcher for Sticks to be playable this time (yay!). Incidentally, Lyric is not given an introduction in in-game cutscenes, but gets some backstory in the form of a short comic that is only viewable after level 1, which also sets up the present-day events. It's done by the Archie team of Ian Flynn and Evan Stanley, and [fun fact] is the only time that Sega let them put Lyric or Boom Shadow in any kind of comic medium.
The game plays out on a 2D plane with occasional dips into the foreground or background in short transitional sequences. It reminded me a little of Generations 3DS since it has a boost/dash button (unlimited use here, but doesn't damage enemies until you get an unlockable perk late on) and a mid-air homing attack. You also get the Enerbeam for grapple swinging and removing enemy shields, and each character has their own abilities and interactions. Tails can hover and throw bombs, Knuckles can burrow, Sticks throws her boomerang, and Sonic has a versatile air dash. As you encounter the characters and quickly build your team, you can swap between them on the fly which is needed to progress and find optional areas.
Although the format feels a lot more like traditional Sonic than RoL, this is similarly more slow-paced and exploratory than many of the series' 2D outings. I do think it strikes a good balance and flow, helped by quick on-the-spot respawns from pits as long as you have rings. The levels can be sprawling, and it's not always obvious which path leads onwards or to optional goodies, but it's usually possible to backtrack or loop to earlier portions. And you will need to do this, as completionist plays of levels become necessary. In a good use of the bottom screen, a scrollable map does help you get around and find goodies.
Saying this game only has eight (8) levels sounds absurd, but it's not the full story. The levels are huge, with full collectathon runs taking upwards of 15 minutes while the time trials often have a goal over 5 minutes. Each one also consists of two different environments that you bounce back and forth between using Enerbeam slingshots. These levels have a series of goals: time trials and ring collection give tokens to unlock character model dioramas, while collection of all blueprints (for unlocking passive perks, much more useful here than RoL's equivalent bonuses) and crystal shards give crests that unlock new levels. If you try to just breeze through you quickly encounter a hard roadblock that makes you go back and repeat levels for crests. I'm the type who enjoys doing and getting everything so it suited me, but it might not be to everyone's tastes that this is required.
Along with the eight main levels, there are race levels... kind of like the races in Generations 3DS. These use the same engine to have you beat another character through a fast-paced platforming level, and I found them fun to learn and improve. Another type of side level is the worm chase, an into-the-screen autorunning affair which Sanzaru would build on in their Tron Run/r game soon after this. These were less enjoyable for me and more demanding, although they're simpler to control. Rounding out the whole game is a Lyric battle—the only boss fight—which is not bad and incorporates platforming between phases. These other level types are a good way to flesh out the package and break up the action between the gigantic regular levels.
One of the strengths of the Sonic Boom show is its array of goofy side characters, and while RoL slotted a few in, there's a dearth here. Shadow at least has slightly more of an integral role in Shattered Crystal, but oddly Eggman has barely a cameo! However SC does stand head and shoulders over RoL in the script department as it actually remembers that Sonic Boom is a comedy series, and has lots of silly interactions between the characters before and after each level. The credited external writers weren't involved with the show but they seem to get it, and it makes this game feel more authentically part of the setting.
Speaking of the setting, the game looks lovely with varied environments and lots of detail in the backgrounds. The Donkey Kong Country-style world map helps give a sense of place and context to the levels, although it's far too zoomed in so you can't even see where the paths take you, which means a lot of trial and error to find levels. Trial and error on the map screen! What were they thinking!!
Shattered Crystal always got points for me by including a playable Sticks, but now that I've played it, it turns out it's a decent game as well. It feels more like a Sonic game than Rise of Lyric, but also shakes up the format a lot in ways that I like by encouraging exploration and interaction, even if it's relatively simple. I also think it does well specifically as part of the Sonic Boom series. I'm excited to see how Sanzaru builds on it with their second game!

There was a knock at the dojo door. The hazy, light-hearted look in Leo’s eyes faded, and he cleared his throat before answering.
“It’s all good, Donnie. Come on in.”
Donatello swiftly entered the room, removed his shoes, and made his way to where they were sitting. Rose could see him literally vibrating with anticipation as he sat down across from her on the cushion where Leo had been. There was a visible change in Leo; he was more tense than he had been seconds prior, and a serious expression had replaced the playful smile. He sat stiffly next to her, legs crossed, and nodded to Donnie.
“Go ahead, Don.”
Donatello practically erupted with questions, firing them off with the speed and determination of a young Robin Williams.
“Sohowlonghavethesymptomsbeenoccuringandwhatdoyoufeelrightnowandwouldyoubeallrightwithrunningsometestsinthela-”
Leo put his hand in the air to signal Donnie to pause and looked at Rose, who was staring blankly back at his brother. She blinked a few times, and chuckled under her breath.
“Ah, what?”
Donnie snort laughed at himself. Maybe he had overdone it on the caffeine today.
“Sorry, um..let’s start from the top. Would you be willing to run some tests in the lab with me? And also are you feeling all right?”
“Oh, yeah, sure Don-tron. Whatever you need. And yeah, I feel great actually. Like better than I’ve ever felt. No pain or anything.”
Donnie breathed a sigh of relief.
“That’s great. I’m interested to see the extent of the mutagen’s repair, as well as the side effects.” Looking down, he fiddled with his wrist straps. “And I’m sorry about the uh, um..side effects. If I had known that this was a possibility I never would-”
“Stop it.” Rose reached over the table and poked Donatello gently in the forehead. The turtle looked up at her in surprise as she went on, rubbing at the spot with a hand. “You had no way of knowing this would happen, Donnie. It’s not your fault, you were just trying to help me heal faster. After all, I took a crazy risk letting a total stranger inject me with something untested.”
Rose couldn’t help but laugh at her own recklessness. She had always been the type to do crazy shit, say yes to wild nights, and this was just another example of that behavior. It had been her choice, now she had to deal with the consequences. But she had really gotten herself into a wacko situation this time.
“Yeah, I suppose that’s accurate.” Donnie cocked his head to one side, weighing what she was saying against reason. “But I’m still going to try and do some research to see if I can reverse the effects. It’s the least I can do.”
“Thanks Donnie. But honestly, if you can't, that's okay too. I think I might be okay…like this.”
Both terrapins looked at her blankly.
“I’ve always wanted to be stronger, emotionally and physically.” She paused and looked down at her teacup, clearly wrestling with something. “ A lot of …stuff happened to me..that probably wouldn’t have if I was like this, ya know?”
Leo’s shoulders tensed, and he narrowed his eyes slightly as he looked down at her.
“...what do you mean?”
Rose didn’t look at him, only continued to swirl her now very cold tea around in the cup.
“I don’t really want to get into it.”
He nodded, shooting a glance to his brother across the table.
Donnie shrugged.
The trio sat in silence for a few moments, until Don's anxiety reached its peak and he not so subtly coughed to get her attention.
Shrugging the tension off her shoulders, Rose looked up again, side-eyeing Leo as she nudged him with her shoulder playfully. “Sorry. Anyways, a wise dude said that with great power comes great responsibility...and I don’t want to let him down. I just have to learn to control it, that's all.”
Leo felt the blush rising in his face and turned his head away from her, unable to stop the smile blossoming on his lips. He nudged Rose with his elbow gently, his voice soft as he murmured into his hand.
"Dork."
Donnie however, did not understand their inside joke.
“Did-wh… why are you quoting the Spiderman comics?”
==================================================================
Raph fucked up. He knew it.
After he had hit the wall (which fuckin hurt by the way) and Don had fussed over him, he could feel Rose’s eyes on him from across the room.
He didn't know what had stopped him from looking back at her- Pride? Guilt? He was definitely embarrassed; she had caught him off guard and sent him flying—a feat rarely achieved when he sparred with his brothers. And she was a tiny human, no less.
Raph also felt like a piece of shit. He knew there was no way she didn’t hear his fight with Leo.
The whole lair had echoed with his shouts, dragging Sensei and Mikey awake from their rooms, respectively. Despite his intense feelings for her, he had yelled in front of everyone he cared about that she meant nothing to him.
And when she walked off to the dojo with Leo, his hand at the small of her back as he led her out of the main area, Raph could do nothing but watch with gritted teeth.
Mikey had stopped him from following them, stepping in front and blocking his path.
“C’mon man, just calm down.”
“Get outta my way, Mikey.”
“You gotta chill out, bro.”
Raph glared down at his younger brother, fighting the intense urge to pick him up and toss him over his head like a rag doll.
Donnie piped up from the lab, bustling around between monitors and his equipment. “Leo knows what he’s doing, Raph. He’s interrogating the witness, and in ten minutes I’ll stop by to check on them.” He could hear the excitement in Donnie’s voice as he went on. “There’s so many things I want to ask her, I gotta focus- OOH I’ll make a list, yeah that’s good..” His voice drifted away as he moved further into the dark room, noises and shuffling sounds following him as he gathered his thoughts.
As Donnie rambled, Raph’s anger continued to fester like an open wound. He clenched his fists and huffed, glaring at the hall that led to the dojo.
Leo was- interrogating her?
Knowing his brother’s methods, he took the opportunity to push past a distracted Mikey and stomp towards the dojo. The orange-banded turtle turned to him as he stormed away, exasperated.
“Raph! Leave Leo alone, dude!”
“Oh, I ain’t leavin that fucker alone.”
The turtle glowered at the dojo door as he neared it. Suddenly, he heard his father's voice.
“Raphael!”
Shit.
He stopped in his tracks.
“With me. Now, my son.”
Raph grunted loudly.
Begrudgingly, he turned away from his war path and moved to the stairs to his father's room.
As he trodded up the concrete, he recounted the many memories from his childhood of these chats. Always the hot-head, he was constantly at war with himself and the world around him, causing conflict within his family and the team. Splinter had often called him up here for one-on-one meditation sessions, allowing Raphael the space and freedom to express what was upsetting him away from his siblings. They loved him, sure. But they didn’t always understand.
“Hairu.”
Raphael heard his Sensei’s voice from the private dojo in his alcove. It was attached to his bedroom, but no one was allowed in there. Splinter had always maintained that there had to be at least one space that was just his.
Raph got it; sharing a living space with four mutant turtle sons had to have been tough.
Entering, Raphael slid the door shut behind him. He removed his shoes and joined Splinter by his tea table.
This space was much like the one downstairs, the only difference being it was much smaller and more dimly lit. The colors were different too; Splinter had used reds and blacks, with gold accents here and there. There were swords on the walls, scrolls, paintings, and other various things that either April had picked up on her travels or Splinter had gotten somehow.
April was always bringing the guys gifts, slipping into their family easily since discovering their existence years ago.
Raph wondered how she’d take the news about Rose, and chuckled to himself at the thought. It would definitely be an...interesting interaction.
April didn’t trust just anyone either.
As he was lost in thought, Splinter cleared his throat to get his son's attention.
“Ahem.”
Raph blinked, coming out of his introspection at the noise.
“Sorry, Sensei.”
“It’s all right, my son.”
The turtle poured the tea for both of them, his father’s first before his own. The teacup looked ridiculously small in his large hands, but the liquid was calming as he drank.
Splinter watched him, clearly expectant but silent patient as always. The rat’s fur was greying with age, but he was no less sharp than ever. He had played this game many times with his son, waiting for him to speak, often into the late hours of the day.
The terrapin fiddled with his wrist wraps, looking anywhere but at his father. Despite being almost 30, Raph still struggled with talking about things like..feelings. After a few minutes, he took a deep breath and tried.
“Sensei, I-...I f-I mean.. I, uh.. messed up.”
“Go on, my son.”
“Did ya hear what happened, ya know..earlier?”
“I am a rat, my son. I can hear everything.”
Raph winced. His fight with Leo had not been quiet.
“Go on, my son.”
“So ya heard…” He trailed off.
“The argument between you and Leonardo, and the cause of the dent in our wall. Yes.” Splinter finished, amused. “It appears that our guest may be staying longer than intended.” He ventured, eyeing his son.
Raphael looked away from his father, grumbling. “Yeah, whatever.”
“What has you so troubled, my son.”
“I just..I messed up, Sensei. I think she liked me, and I said somethin stupid..and now ‘ol Fearless..” Raph brought a hand to his face, rubbing his forehead.
“Saru mo ki kara ochiru, Raphael.”
“Master, ya know I don’t speak Japanese.”
“Even monkeys fall from trees, my son.”
Raph sighed. He hated that fortune cookie muck that his Dad and Leo always spouted.
Noting his son’s frustration, Splinter explained.
“No one is perfect, Raphael. Everyone makes mistakes. Monkeys are good at climbing trees, but even they may fall. The only difference is choosing to move forward, or dwelling on the past. Fukusui bon ni kaerazu; spilt water will not return to the tray.”
Raph grunted, knowing Splinter well enough to know that he had a million of these proverbs locked and loaded, and there would be no end until he accepted it.
“Hai, Sensei.”
He could feel his father’s eyes on him still, waiting for him to continue.
Splinter always knew when he was holding back.
“Dad, I’m..ah..”
“Yes, my son?”
“I’m scared,” Raphael mumbled quietly. “What if she...can’t accept me.” His head lowered, and he sunk into his hands. Splinter rested a paw on his son's large shoulder.
“With no risk, there is no reward Raphael. Have faith, my son. You will find the answers you so desperately seek.”
Raphael looked up at his father, eyes glistening.
The guy always knew exactly what to say, he’d give him that.
“Hai, Sensei.”
Splinter rose from the table, and gestured for his son to do the same. As they strode back to the doors, Splinter couldn’t help but add one more thing.
“Oh, before I forget.”
“Yes, Master?”
“Please refrain from sparring in the main rooms in the future, my son. I’d like to limit our repairs to the dojo.” He smiled, whiskers lifting and shining in the dim light.
Raph chuckled and nodded back, grinning to himself as he left the room.
The tension from earlier had melted off his shoulders, but as he walked back downstairs he realized he now had another pressing issue: Leo.
Did he actually mean what he said earlier, or was he just being a dick?
They both knew how to push each other's buttons, and despite being grown-ass adults they still fought like kids some days; but Leo had taken it way too far this time. Raph grunted.
This is gettin way too fuckin’ complicated.
Rounding the last corner of the stairwell he could hear his brother’s voices pour out of the living room, mainly Mikey’s. He could also hear Rose’s sweet laugh bouncing off the cement walls of the Lair in response to whatever Mike was rambling on about.
“Dudette, you are like the coolest! Ever!”
“Mikey, stop! You’re embarrassing me!”
Raph stopped at the edge of the stairs and leaned on the wall, crossing his arms as he observed them. His brothers were scattered on the couches, relaxing. Mikey was seated next to Rose on the biggest sofa, excitedly yammering about something. Leo was reclining on the other sofa, reading a book, and Donnie was perched on the arm of the smaller loveseat across from Leo, drinking a juice box and amusingly observing Mikey’s antics while texting on his phone.
Probably texting April, he mused.
“Girl, we gotta arm wrestle or something!”
Rose laughed again, and a weight settled on his heart. Her laugh was so soft and cute, and the yearning he felt in his chest listening to it was deep and aching- unsettling.
“Oh my gosh, ya goof. I’m not going to arm wrestle you.” She giggled again. “Besides, I don’t want to hurt you.” As she finished her sentence she stuck her tongue out at Mike, of course riling him up even more.
“Ohhh, now it’s ON chica! Lezz go, you and me!”
Before she could blink the orange blur was leaping off the couch, clearing off the coffee table for their battle of strength. Without looking up from his book, Leo spoke up.
“Enough, Mikey. She said no.”
“Awww c’mon Leo! Just one teeny tiny lil wrestling match?” Turning back to Rose, he put on his best puppy dog eyes. “Pleeeeaaaaaaseeeeee?”
Raph stepped out into the main room, not able to take much more of this.
Mikey could be down-right annoying when he wanted to be.
He sauntered past to his bedroom, interjecting as he passed by. He made sure to keep his eyes forward.
He couldn’t handle a confrontation with her right now, he just needed some sleep- he was so damn tired.
“Shut it, Mike. You couldn’t take her anyways. She’d break your arm.”
“Whaaaaaa? No way! That’s awesome, girl! High three!”
Rose sighed.
“I wouldn’t say it’s awesome, Mikey. I don’t know how to control my own strength yet- I could really hurt you guys. Just… be careful around me while I get this under control, ok? Promise?”
Raph was still listening as he closed his bedroom door behind him, and could hear the fear in her voice as her words echoed his own thoughts.
He certainly knew how she felt, being afraid of hurting those she cared about.
Over the years his strength surpassed his brothers, and most beings on the planet. He approached everything with a certain fragility, never letting his guard down and always being so… aware of himself.
Leaning against the door, he sighed.
He wanted so badly to talk to her, to apologize, but he couldn’t. He needed sleep, and space.
His talk with Splinter had given him some clarity, but the fight with Leo had raised more questions that he honestly didn’t know if he wanted the answers to. He couldn’t help but notice the chemistry between Rose and Leo, the way they laughed and joked around was easy and natural.
His brother cared about her, just like he did.
And when Leo wanted something, he went for it.
The feelings he didn’t want to name started to bubble over, settling in his throat, and his face contorted as he fought back the tears that were threatening to spring free. Shaking his head, Raph walked over and flopped onto his bed, closing his eyes; finally drifting off to sleep.
=============================================================
Rose stared wistfully at Raph’s now closed door, no longer listening to what Mikey and Donnie were arguing about.
After the meeting with Donnie and Leo had ended in the dojo earlier, Leo had suggested they all hang out in the living room and watch a movie together to unwind after a long and eventful night.
They had been trying to pick a movie for what felt like ages, something that Mikey and Don were very much disagreeing on, when Raph had finally appeared in the stairwell to Splinter’s room.
He hadn’t even given her a second look on his way to his room, just mumbled something to Mikey, and shut his door forcefully behind him.
She couldn't stop replaying Raphael's words in her mind: "She means nothing."
Reflecting on their past interactions, she could see that they had been solely driven by lust, with her being the one to initiate and Raph just responding. It was painfully clear now why he felt that way. As the realization settled in, a deep sadness washed over her, leaving her feeling hollow and betrayed by the illusion of something more meaningful she had sworn she had seen.
Was she just as bad as those men from her past..?
Did he not want her at all?
“Hey, you in there?”
She blinked her eyes a few times, recovering from the glazed-over look she had on her face, and turned to the source of the voice, Leo, who had moved from his spot on the couch and had knelt down in front of her.
He had been trying to get her attention after he had politely “requested” Donnie and Mikey take their argument about the best Indiana Jones movie elsewhere, as he had noticed she was staring at his brother’s bedroom door.
Rose's green emeralds softened as she focused her gaze on Leonardo.
“Yeah, sorry. Just thinking.”
“It’s all right. Are you ok?”
Her vision started to blur around the edges, and the lump in the back of her throat was getting harder to choke down. She lifted a hand to her eye, rubbing at it in an attempt to keep the tears at bay.
“Um, I’ll be fine, yeah. It’s just, you know..” Rose trailed off, unable to finish her thought.
She couldn’t hold back the tears any longer, feeling them cascade down her cheeks.
She really wasn't usually one to cry, always pushing through and disassociating through the pain. But with all that had happened in the past few days, everything felt like too much. It all kept piling on, pushing her to a breaking point she feared she couldn't endure.
She tried to hide her face in her hands, so he wouldn’t see her falling apart.
Leo gently reached out, pulling her hands away from her face.
"Hey," he murmured softly, his gaze full of concern. "You don't need to hide anything from me."
Rose looked up, her eyes meeting his. Leo felt his heart swell as she gazed at him, their faces so close together and his hands touching hers. It hadn’t been his intention from the beginning, but now, looking at her like this, he was realizing that he was falling for her.
With a tender smile, Leo gently scooped Rose up in his arms, effortlessly lifting her from where she sat.
As he settled back onto the couch with her in his lap, he cradled her against his plastron as she rested her head against his shoulder. He wrapped his arms around her, and she melted into him like she belonged there.
With a soft sigh escaping her lips, Rose closed her eyes as she pressed a hand to his plastron, feeling the keratin against her palm and listening to his heartbeat as her breathing returned to normal. They sat like that for a few minutes in silence, before she found her voice again.
“I- uh...thanks, Leo. I think I needed that.”
“Anytime. You’ve been through a lot, you know. It’s ok to be upset about it.”
Rose took a deep breath, feeling the weight lift a little. “It has been pretty fucking insane-” she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper.
Leo nodded. “I’m here for you, if you want me to be.”
She lifted her head to look at him, eyes still watery and trailing slow tears down her cheeks.
She didn’t know what to say; no man ever said anything that kind to her before. Leo made her feel so at peace, like she could let her guard down and not worry about the world, because he would be right there, looking out for her. It was so comforting, so reassuring; She’d never had anyone in her corner like that. It was her against the world, always had been.
Her mother wasn’t the nurturing type, often reacting in extremely volatile and unpredictable outbursts during Rose’s formative years. Their father didn’t intervene often, letting her mother’s fits grow emotionally and physically violent. She learned how to protect herself, putting up an impenetrable wall so that no matter what happened on the outside, her heart would be safe.
When she hit puberty, other problems arose in her life. Men.
Men started to see her, started to desire her, in ways she didn’t understand. Rose was young, about 13 years old, when it happened the first time. Her hips and chest had come in early, and it had not gone unnoticed.
As she got to high school, and then left for college, the men in her life continually found ways to get her guard down and take advantage of her.
She was a trusting person, and those men could see it and use her weakness to their advantage.
Now, her fear had hardened to hate, and she used her strength training and intense personality to protect herself. It had gotten to the point where she had stopped letting people into her life completely, choosing to be alone. Maybe that was why she had chosen to be with Nick, someone who cared for her but was physically uninterested. It had been a safe choice.
The only reason she trusted the turtles so much was that they had saved her from those men in that alley, and had shown her nothing but kindness since and expected nothing in return for it. They made her feel safer in a few days than she had in a decade. Leo especially; the soothing baritone of his voice had a way of melting the stress like candle wax off of her shoulders, and his energy just radiated mindfulness.
And he was so pretty to look at, too. His eyes were absolutely mesmerizing, and she loved the way they seemed to sparkle with life when he smiled. Despite his serious and intense demeanor, there was also a boyish charm about him that was irresistible. And his physique? The man was dedicated to mastery of the mind, body, and soul, and it showed.
As he pulled her closer, she couldn't help but notice the strength and grace in his movements; the way his arms flexed as he held her, the way the muscles in his forearms danced under his skin as he adjusted his grip.
Leo lifted a hand to Rose’s face, his palm against her cheek as he brushed a tear away with his thumb. It rubbed delicate circles on her cheek; the warmth of his fingers tingling on her skin as his gaze swept over her face.
The air between them crackled, breaths mingling as they inched closer, drawing them nearer until the space between them had almost disappeared. The intensity of his gaze made her heart race as the world around them faded into the background, the silence between each second holding a universe within it. She felt a warmth spreading through her, the familiar gnawing want settling into her core.
Leo felt himself lean in further, his hand slowly moving from her cheek to rest at the back of her neck. She dipped her head back slightly, responding to his touch. His heart was hammering in his chest so hard it felt like it would explode.
Rose felt the haze of longing wash over her as Leo's face grew closer to hers, her eyes fluttering as she felt his snout brush against her nose.
His lips were right there, and they were soft and full, and so damn kissable.
Leo let his lips graze over hers, her breath hitching at the contact. She shivered as his soft skin brushed against her pout, breath mingling as she whispered his name.
“..Leo.”
He tensed under her, and she heard a low groan rumble from his chest.
“What the hell am I doing”, he thought. “Slow. Down.”
Leo closed his eyes and sighed, leaning his forehead against hers.
“Sorry, I don’t know what came over me.”
He leaned back against the couch and opened his eyes, fully looking at her now, his expression serious. He could see the surprise on her face and felt a pang of guilt.
“Did I upset you?”
She gave him a shy smile and lifted her small hand to trace along his neck with her fingertip, his jaw clenching at the contact. She continued to watch his muscles respond as her nail drew invisible patterns on his green pebbled skin.
“No, Leo, I’m not upset. Confused, maybe?”
Her gaze flicked up to his eyes and she noted the hunger visible in the now darker blue. He licked his lips, thoughts evident, but remained still and unmoving. She went on.
“Can I ask you a question?”
Leo nodded.
“Why didn’t you kiss me just now?”
Rose's voice was barely above a whisper, her heart pounding as her fingers brushed further up his neck.
Leo's expression softened, a hint of vulnerability flickering in his eyes. He sighed.
She'd appreciate honesty.
"I wanted to," he admitted, his voice gentle. "But I don't want to rush things. And I didn’t ask your consent for it, which is important to me. You mean too much to me, to our family, to ruin something because I’m being selfish." He paused, his gaze searching hers with sincerity. "So... I won’t kiss you until you ask me to."
She had stopped her caress of his skin and was staring at him dumbfoundedly.
“I..I-don’t know what to say to that, Leo.”
"I do." Blue eyes glinted with mischief as he leaned in to her again, his voice low and playful. "Do you want to go to bed?" he whispered, the hint of a suggestive smile playing on his lips.
Rose turned bright red, the steam practically shooting out of her ears.
“LEO!”
“What? I’m tired, aren’t you?” He said, laughing.
Rose rolled her eyes and smacked his arm.
“Besides,” Leo went on, “Someone is starting their training tomorrow, and should get some rest. You’ll need it.” He pinched her thigh, earning a yelp.
Rose stuck her tongue out at him while she rubbed her leg. “..could kick your ass..” she muttered under her breath.
Before she could even blink Leo sat up from the couch and hefted her up onto his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. Rose squawked from the sudden movement, then collapsed into laughter. He started to walk towards his room; jostling her around as much as possible to make her laugh and cling to him even more.
“Oh yeah, tough guy?”
“Leo! Put- haha- Put me down!”
He was all smiles until he set her down at the doorway to his room, the ache is in heart thrumming louder as she stepped over the threshold of his doorway; he hadn't had a woman in his bedroom since-
“This is definitely on brand for you, Leo.”
He turned around to see her taking in the aesthetic of his bedroom, a knowing smirk on her face as she studied her surroundings; the Japanese decor and bamboo here and there, the band posters on the walls, and the unmistakable NYC vibe of a neon light on the wall that said “All We Have Is Now” bathing the room in a cool light blue hue.
It was so, so Leonardo.
“Yeah, I’ve put a lot of work into making this my space,” he said, taking his gear off and placing his katanas on their stands.
He tried to shake off the weight in his chest as his hands busied themselves, eyeridge furrowed as he blinked away the memories. He turned away for a moment, trying to gather himself back up from his own mind.
Not now.
He could hear Rose move behind him, hear her graceful footsteps as she took in everything about his bedroom, listening as her fingers dragged over the spines of his books- Like Raph, he also had a bookshelf in his room.
The difference between the two men however, was that Leo had books on his shelf that he actually read, and read frequently. Raph just liked the aesthetic.
He turned over his shoulder and watched her eye his titles, his comics, with an amused look on her face.
Just like-
Rose walked over to his shelf of bonsai trees, and gasped when she saw the water feature below he had spent months making.
It was a stone basin with a bamboo spout trickling water into it, with emerald moss covering one side of the lip of the basin like a soft blanket. There was a wooden ladle on the lip of the basin, facing down. Leo came up next to her, humored by her fascination.
She's cute like this, so animated.
“It’s for purification before prayer at shrines, the Japanese word for it is Temizu. Splinter and I are the only practicing Shintoists in the lair, despite him raising us all the same.” Leo gave an irritated huff as he rolled his eyes.
“It’s beautiful, Leo.”
He smiled, soft and tender as he kept his eyes on his creation. “Thanks, it wasn’t easy to build. Don helped a ton. Sensei and I have had to improvise a lot down here,” he chuckled to himself. “I purify my blades after battles in it, rather than hand washing.”
“I see, makes sense.”
Rose lifted the dipper from where it rested and filled it, then poured it over her left hand, then right. She let the water drip down the handle into the basin before settling it back down to rest where it had lain. She breathed a sigh, and turned back to Leo as he stared, a bewildered look on his face.
“What.”
“How did you know to do that?”
“I traveled Japan for a bit, remember?”
“Oh. Yeah.”
She tried to hide it, but she couldn’t help but laugh at him. He was just so adorable, and the way he fumbled made her heart melt.
“Anyways,” he ventured, “the room I told you about won’t be cleared out until tomorrow, so until then you’re welcome to crash here if you’d like. I’ll be in the living room if you need me.”
“Wait, you’re not staying?”
“Of course not. I meant what I said earlier.” He raised an eyebrow ridge at her playfully, and turned to leave. “Mikey grabbed your stuff and threw it next to my bed, hopefully everything’s there. Otherwise goo-”
“Leo, wait.”
Rose gripped his arm lightly, stopping the turtle in his tracks. He looked down at her and saw it in her eyes, the fear seeping out of her every pore and filling the room with anxious energy.
“I want you to stay, Leo. Please.”
Everything in his body tensed as she held him there, prisoner.
No.
Not...I-
“I can’t, Rose.”
“Please... When I’m alone I-...I think about…just-please. I’m-”
He sighed deeply, turning to face her again as his hands lifted to grip her shoulders, eyes searching hers, uncertainty etched across his face.
Leo swallowed hard.
“I just… I can't.”
“No, I mean I get it, but...” She reached up, placing a hand on his plastron, her voice trembling. “Please. Stay.”
He stared into the deep green of her gaze, his own eyes blinking back the hurt as the familiar burn crept back into his throat. “I ...,” he started, dropping his arms from their grip on her shoulders. Leo took a deep breath, his gaze steady as he finished his thought. “I can't," he said firmly. "As much as I want to."
Rose nodded, hearing him but unable to hide the disappointment in her eyes. "I get it," she whispered, forcing a small smile. "You’re right. Sorry I got a little weird there.”
He shook his head, mirroring her expression. “Can I offer a solution for tonight?”
“Okay…?”
Letting go of her, Leo pulled out his phone and handed it to her, the contacts page open.
“If you can’t fall asleep, or wake up during the night, you can just text or call me if that’s easier than heading out to the living room. If you want to, that is.”
She took the phone, punching in her info.
With a playful grin, Rose grabbed Leo's arm and pulled him closer. "Come on, you need a contact photo for me," she said, holding up the phone to snap a selfie. Leo chuckled, leaning in as their faces pressed together, his arm wrapping around her shoulders.
As she snapped the photo, she turned her head and kissed his cheek.
He was caught off guard, his eyes widening in surprise as a warm blush spread across his face in the photo.
"Perfect," she said, beaming as she saved the picture to his phone, and sent herself a text and the photo. "Now you'll always have a reason to smile when I text you."
Leo couldn't help the lovesick look on his face, his heart swelling with affection as he glanced down at the photo, the feel of her kiss still lingering on his cheek. "I definitely will," he murmured, unable and unwilling to wipe the goofy smile off his lips.
“Well, you should get going then, shouldn’t you?”
“Huh? Oh, yeah.”
“Text me?”
Leo turned back from the door, and smirked at her.
“As you wish.”
“You’re such a dork!”
“You love it. Goodnight, Rose.”
She watched him leave, the door closing softly behind him, and felt a deep ache in her chest. As she climbed into bed and flicked off the neon light, the room felt empty and hollow without him in it. She curled up under the covers, darkness enveloping her.
Leo’s sheets were a comfy fabric, soft but cool to the touch, and of course blue. It was comforting being wrapped in his colors, like he was still there, and she could smell him on the linen clearly. He smelled like the ocean and sea glass, with a hint of sandalwood. It smelled so good in his room too; everything smelled like Leo.
As she laid there and tried to drift off to sleep, the thoughts she had been dancing around all day slowly crept to the forefront of her mind. Despite her talk with Leo about it, her guilt about what happened was eating her alive. The faces of those men flashed around her skull, haunting the darkness behind her eyelids. She could still see the blood, there was so much blood.
Just when her panic started to reach her throat, choking off her breath, her phone pinged.
It was Leo.
Blue: You up?
Shit sorry, that sounds bad. I mean it genuinely lol
Emerald: lol dork
yeah, I couldn’t fall asleep
how’s couch city?
Blue: oh it sucks, pretty sure Mikey stuffed rocks in here on purpose lol
I hope you’re enjoying my nice, cozy bed. I’m not jealous and regretting this decision at all
Emerald: it’s soooo comfy oh my gosh, I’m currently starfished out and using allll your pillows haha
Blue: Jerk
Are you doing ok though? Like really?
Emerald: You kinda just saved me from a freak out actually, so thanks
Blue: Anytime, that’s what heroes do after all
Emerald: If your ego gets any bigger, your head won’t fit through the door you know
Kidding aside, I appreciate you a lot Leo. You’re kind of amazing.
Blue: No, I’m nothing special. I care about you a lot, that’s all. Are you feeling any better?
Emerald: I’m getting there. I think I’m ready to try and sleep again though
Blue: All right, sleep well. I’m right here if you need me.
Emerald: Thanks, Blue. Goodnight. <3
Blue: Night.

You can rip the Tron run/r models? Is there a place to download them?
I don't know for sure right now, I just have plans to try adding some extra models once I'm less busy in meatspace. I see people have made a couple replacers on GameBanana, so it is at least possible!
IIRC, RUN/r was made using Unreal Engine...4? Back when it was in early access, people were able to use the Unreal dev tools to "uncook" the game files and pull some textures and models not yet available in-game, to see which characters might be added next. However, I don't know whether this is still possible in the final release.
This thread has the process, specifically it requires using the Unreal Tournament dev tools (links to asset rips are long dead, sadly):
tl;dr yes most likely. As for downloads, this user has a few, but not all:
Legacy characters are definitely easier to find than '82, unfortunately.
Actually, if you dig far enough on my main @magnetoplasma , some of the tumblr-side discussions might have been preserved... I'm on mobile so it's not easy to check, but the timeframe was around December 2015-February 2016.

The Best of the Year (In No Particular Order)
Soo I'm just gonna do a quick snappy run down here because I wanted to get all these finished in time for the F/W25 shows to start and yet they're on us already! I won't get into anything else about how there are fucking evil men in charge of the world because I'd be here all day! So let's go:-)

-clockwise l-r: Rick Owens RTW S/S25, Loewe ", Christopher Esber ", Atlein ", Jacques Wei ", Ann Demeulemeester "-
1. Rick Owens RTW S/S25, creative dir. ": My thoughts on Rick Owens are that when it's not for me, I find it at best dull and at worst ugly. I know I didn't need to be that harsh, but I'm following up by saying that when I do like Rick Owens, it's incredible and I love it, lol. I really have limited knowledge of Star Wars but this season's looks reminded me of a cunty Star Wars villain. Very Adam Driver, whoever he plays, if his character was a fashion girl, iygm. Gwendoline Christie would look incredible in this stuff.
2. Loewe RTW S/S25, creative dir. Jonathan Anderson: I know it's a controversial opinion but I'm not usually all that impressed by Loewe. Perhaps it's because I'm a basic bitch and I need something at least a little aesthetically pleasing going on. I can do an unusual structure but I need some pretty fabrics or colours or something to balance it out. This year's Loewe filled that brief for me. The cropped leather ponchos are GORGEOUS. I feel like these are the kind of garments high street stores will potentially try and dupe but without this kind of quality, they won't come close.
3. Christopher Esber RTW S/S25, creative dir. ": The best of this collection were the muted Greek goddess-esque pieces and those alone were enough to give Christopher a place on this list.
4. Atlein RTW S/S25, creative dir. Antonin Tron: You could argue that some of what we saw on the runway for Atlein's RTW S/S25 show was a bit pedestrian but you know what, idc! I'd wear the fuck out of it! So much so that I can overlook the blue lip look, which I appreciate the skill it must have took to pull off anyways. The days I tried to make that work for me are ones I am demanding we leave in the past, lmao.
5. Jacques Wei RTW S/S25, creative dir.": Jacques Wei's work is yet another reason I am SO glad that Vogue Runway is finally bloody getting on the Shanghai Fashion Week train. This collection in particular was like a blend of 1920s flapper, nineties detailing and prints, and that delicate yet modern feel I've come to look forward to from the brands which present in Shanghai. what did I do before I was aware of Jacques Wei? Serious question? Wow, wow, wow. I never knew I needed the end result of a rich flapper girl time traveling and rummaging through Courtney Love’s ‘90s wardrobe like this wtf. Finding out that Jacques is a graduate from Paris's Atelier Chardon Savard is no surprise because these are exactly the kind of outfits I picture a Parisian fashion girl wearing in my head. Emily in Paris' stylists, take notes. If they did, then I might actually watch the show.
6. Ann Demeulemeester RTW S/S25, creative dir. Stefano Gallici: Stefano Gallici's take on Ann Demeulemeester is very different from his predecessor's Ludovic de Saint Sernin, which don't get me wrong I adored (still thinking about Hunter Schafer in a RTW F/W23 piece on the red carpet), but I love this too! There were some pieces that were a bit meh but on the whole, the nods to all my favourite periods of fashion were on show. '70s bohemian rock AND the '90s redux of those trends with touches of the era's standard protocol grunge look too results in a collection which for the most part, ticks of all the boxes in my mental style criteria checklist.

-clockwise l-r: The Attico RTW S/S25, Etro ", Ermanno Scervino ", Prada "-
7. The Attico RTW S/S25, creative dir. Gilda Ambrosio & Giorgia Tordini: I have loved The Attico for years and to see Gilda & Giorgia finally get to present a collection on the runway feels well deserved. It was so hard to pick just a handful of favourite looks because everything was stunning. The combination of grungy street style inspired techwear with the high glamour of dripping sequins and chainmail à la Versace/Rabanne closing looks was everything to me<3
8. Etro RTW S/S25, creative dir. Marco De Vincenzo: Marco De Vincenzo is doing an incredible job at maintaining the standard I've come to expect from Etro which remains one of my longtime favourites and at this point, probably will do til the end of time. The brand's cohesive, recognisable aesthetic continues to be an amazing source of outfit inspiration the likes of which you don't get even from the street style of celebrities who throw $$$ at stylists to curate the casual bohemian vibe. Don't get me wrong, there's a tonne of girls on Pinterest and Instagram who do an amazing job. I know people have strong opinions on Florence Given but she's the first big name that comes to mind. In terms of public figures who have MONEY! money though, what's stopping you from dressing like this?
9. Ermanno Scervino RTW S/S25, creative dir. Ermanno Daelli: Ermanno Scervino's collections are like the dainty younger sister to Etro's. Like the Elle Fanning to Dakota. Whom I just found out by the way is the same age as me. An incredibly humbling fact considering she's out there wearing Alessandro Michele's Valentino on the red carpet and I'm...here...writing this...I suppose that is where talent gets you and my reserves are unfortunately limited. If Alessandro Michele ever wants to do an act of charity, my porch door is open and waiting for a delivery:-)
10. Prada RTW S/S25, creative dir(s). Miuccia Prada & Raf Simons: I usually feel such a disconnect with Prada where it's like everyone else is seeing something completely different to me. It's pretty widely beloved and positioned as the pinnacle of "edgy" designer fashion, but it's always seemed a bit too "safe" imo. I finally kinda get it though! This collection and the F/W24 collection, in hindsight, have both lived up to the brand's reputation. Call me a convert.

-clockwise l-r: Nensi Dojaka RTW S/S25, Grace Ling ", Sandy Liang ", Oude Waag "-
11. Nensi Dojaka RTW F/W25, creative dir.": Nensi's designs make me so happy to be a woman<3 I think it would be impossible not to feel like a goddess in one of her pieces.
12. Grace Ling RTW F/W25, creative dir.": Not dissimilar to Nensi Dojaka's work, Grace's expertly channels an otherworldly kind of femininity. But instead of drawing from a mythological past, Grace’s collection has a more futuristic feel. Less mythological siren, more a space age one, iygm??? Like alien queen type shit!
13. Sandy Liang RTW F/W25, creative dir.": The hype around this Sandy collection really lives up to those early collections of hers that I adored. Like this is a progression of the Liang aesthetic I'm on board with: simple, subtle elegance with a bit of a retro feel. Sandy's been on a Miu Miu trajectory for me since she debuted at fashion week, so unfortunately if the pattern serves me right, I expect to be underwhelmed next season. I waver between love and disappointment. With one collection, I completely understand why she is the fashion darling of the 2020s and the next, I'm just not feeling it. So with this being a high, I anticipate a low next time round. Not to shit on her as a designer, because she is OBVIOUSLY miles ahead of anything I could possibly ever hope to achieve, but I feel like there's a slight inconsistency when it comes to her stuff hitting my style sweet spot. It always seems to hit just right for everyone else, it's just me! So yeah. I'm going to show all my love for this collection whilst I can. This is not me being pessimistic, it’s just realism. Hoping for the best but expecting the worst is life’s cheat code for avoiding disappointment, didn’t u know!!! ;-)
14. Oude Waag RTW F/W25, creative dir. Jingwei Yin: Living in London myself, I'm a habitual hater of Central Saint Martin's students, and look ifykyk, they are a consistently pretentious bunch. They are the tyrants of the Tate Modern. But then again, when the place is constantly churning out designers like Jingwei Yin, I kind of understand why. SO much incredible fashion comes out of that place, and Jingwei's brand Oude Waag is no exception to that rule. I absolutely fucking adore this collection, and its gothic take on ethereal, futuristic glamour. Like I said, this top 30 isn't necessarily in order of preference, but if it was, this showcase of excellence would absolutely be in my top 5.

-clockwise l-r: Chloé RTW S/S25, Mugler ", DOMINNICO ", Viviano "-
15. Chloé RTW F/W25, creative dir. Chemena Kamali: everything I see from Chloé since Chemena Kamali took over continues to cement the brand as one of my new favourites. Soooo fucking good, lord!!! I want EVERYTHING from these last few collections in my wardrobe fr. Plus with Chemena being another Central Saint Martins graduate, I feel like her talent is yet another reason I need to try and work through my bias again their students, lo.
16. Mugler RTW F/W25, creative dir. Casey Cadwallader: Mugler on my favourites list? What’s new. It’s not up there with my all-time favourite Mugler collections by any stretch but it’s still got everything I love about the brand going on.
17. DOMINNICO RTW F/W25, creative dir. Domingo Rodríguez Lázaro: Dominnico has done it for me once again. Is it the highest of high fashion brands out there? Probably not. But seriously, it’s criminal that there aren’t any pop girl groups dominating out there right now because this is the kind of collection that would be absolutely perfect for some arena choreo. The pieces taken individually could easily be dressed down too. There’s so many influences going on in this collection, from Manga superheroine, to nascar edition bratz doll and American football style athleisure which I know sounds disastrous on paper but in reality is so hot!!! I am excited to see where Domminico goes from here.
18. Viviano RTW F/W25, creative dir. Viviano Sue: This season’s Viviano reminded me of a lot of other brands; like somehow Molly Goddard, Bora Aksu, Vivetta, Rodarte, Rave Review, Cecilie Bahnsen, & Marques’Almeida all got together to pull off a scientific miracle (some serious high tech fertility clinic must exist out there ) and their baby is Viviano RTW F/W25. Gorgeousss!

-clockwise l-r: Alexander McQueen RTW S/S25, Valentino ", Zimmerman ", Resort 2025-
19. Alexander McQueen RTW F/W25, creative dir. Seán McGirr: Yet another CSM graduate, I have to give McGirr his flowers here because this is the first Alexander McQueen collection I've really loved since he took over from Sarah Burton and it reminds me of her work a lot. SoOoO PRETTY!
20. Valentino RTW F/W 25, creative dir. Alesandro Michele: Is Alessandro's Valetino basically Gucci 2.0? Do I care? Not at all. The fact that Valentino has always been known for elegance gives Alessandro an excuse to go full ethereal glamour with every single look, the likes of which he'd usually save for the end of a Gucci show. I hope this man stays relevant forever because there's nobody doing it like him.
21. Zimmerman RTW F/W25, creative dir(s). Nicky & Simone Zimmerman: Assume Zimmerman is always going to be on these lists unless I say otherwise at this point, lol.
22. Zimmerman Resort 2025, creative dir(s).": Zimmerman's Resort collection was just as magnificent as their RTW F/W25 offering, so the brand taking up 2 spaces on my list is no surprise.

-clockwise l-r: Namilia RTW S/S25, KNWLS ", Bora Aksu ", Mark Gong "-
23. Namilia RTW F/W25, creative dir. Shayne Oliver: Though it’s not quite on par with the excellence we saw under Nicola Brognano’s tenure at Blumarine, the Namilia RTW S/S25 collection is the closest we got to filling the void he left in the interim between his departure and David Koma's takeover, following that disastrous but well-intended effort by Walter Chiapponi. What a GREAT choice btw. Blumarine is thankfully back on track now Koma's taken over; it is SUCH a relief the brand's higher ups listened to the resounding disappointment expressed by fans in response to the unrecognisable RTW F/W24 collection. Now David Koma's been named Chiapponi's successor, I imagine Blumarine's only gonna go onwards and upwards from here. Though Namilia has yet to quite reach the levels of greatness we saw under Brognano's tenure at Blumarine, a meticulously crafted take on Y2K sleaze complemented by a range of thematic aspects emerging from a revolving door of gothic fantastical mystique (think back to the apocalyptic siren aesthetic courtesy of the RTW F/W23 collection and the rock and roll mermaid vibes of RTW S/S23), Shayne Oliver's approach is not too dissimilar. I’m getting off track here, this was not intended to be an obituary to old Blumarine. It’s in praise of Namilia who to a certain extent have succeeded in capturing the spirit of Brognano's work. Ed Hardy is up there with Juicy Couture & Von Dutch when it comes to y2k sleaze, and the pairing of the brand with a range of faux leather, chaps, fur and latex pieces worthy of a part-time dominatrix, full-time front rider of a motorcycle gang seemed like a chaotic nod to the Blumarine vision of recent years, albeit a nod which still represents a work in progress. I really don’t think Namilia is on Blumarine’s level but it would be unfair to knock the former for the sake of comparing a latter because we’re talking about two brands with a massive discrepancy in capital and customer base. But if Namilia grows as a brand, it has the potential to rival what I imagine Blumarine will once again be with David as creative director.
24. KNWLS RTW F/W25, creative dir(s). Charlotte Knowles and Alexandre Arsenault: Yet more evidence that I owe an apology to Central Saint Martins' students for giving us KNWLS.
25. Bora Aksu RTW F/W25, creative dir.": With the revelation that Bora Aksu is yet another graduate of CSM, this post may as well be "Lauren getting humbled", BUT anyways, I loved this collection. It reminds me a lot of the Simone Rocha aesthetic I was so mesmerised by, in the sense that I feel Bora took the blueprint of the “ladylike” ideals of the early 20th century and all its fabrics and silhouettes and whimsy and said fuck that and shoved that ideal down the rabbit hole, Mia Wakiowska in Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland style. Big fan:-)
26. Mark Gong RTW F/W25, creative dir.": One word: perfection!

-clockwise l-r: Gabriela Hearst RTW S/S25, Miu Miu ", David Koma ", Rokh "-
27. Gabriela Hearst RTW S/S25, creative dir.": Gabriela leaving Chloé was honestly the best outcome for her as a designer. Firstly, not only has her own brand come into her own as an individual with the result being that her collections are stronger than ever, but secondly, Chemena's vision for Chloé is one of leaning fully into the bohemian dream in all it’s glory, which Gabriela always seemed hesitant to do. Probably because as we can see from her solo endeavour, she likes to take things in a more minimalist, rustic direction. It really, really works for her; with her full attention presumably being on what she puts out there as a solo creator, it appears to have given her room to truly flourish and take her brand in a direction that seems more self-assured in its image than ever.
28. Miu Miu RTW S/S25, creative dir. Miuccia Prada: Miuccia Prada was really on a roll here, what with her collaboration with Raf Simons for Prada, and the direction she took with the Miu Miu S/S25 collection being real stand outs for me. Seriously, something must have been in the air when the S/S25 design process was taking place because just like Sandy Liang, Miu Miu ticked all the right boxes for me this time round. Whether I agree on Miu's Miu's greatness is an opinion I go back and forth on all the time, not without much guilty and questioning of my own taste that is, especially because it's consistently every other fashion girlie's wet dream. Don't get me wrong, on the level of the individual garments, Miuccia's impact is insane. There have been so many specific pieces over the last few years that I've adored; for one, she's responsible for the revival of the ultra-mini skirt which I owned many a dupe of myself (before I gained weight and became pathologically fixated on my ballooning legs which just to be clear is a reflection of me and my crippling body dysmorphia rather than any statement about who should and shouldn't wear these kinds of things!!!!). BUT, with that being said, I haven't particularly connected with any of the collections as a whole in quite some time despite Miu Miu being one of my favourites when I first got into unattainable fashion, lol. This season, I felt the love again! In particular, those belts!! Seems like a random detail to get caught up on but I adore them.
29. David Roma RTW S/S25, creative dir.": David Koma's S/S25 collection making it onto my list isn't at all shocking because he does practically every time. Considering the fact I just found out that he ALSO has been responsible for the last few Diesel collections the last few years, paired with his new role as the creative director at Blumarine, I am even more in awe of this man's talent. He never misses. I really can't imagine anyone better to take over the job of creative director at Blumarine, tbh. Maybe Ludovic San Sernin but not at the cost of David Koma, to be clear! I just think a creative partnership between those two would be one for the ages.
30. Rokh RTW S/S25, creative dir. Rok Twang: If you needed further evidence that there's absolutely no rhyme or reason to the order of this top 30 list, take the fact that I've put Rokh's S/S25 show last. It's probs my no.1 of the lot. Anddd he's yet another CSM graduate, which pretty much concludes my journey to admitting that maybe I'll allow those students a little pretentiousness because with the institute's output, they're kinda entitled to it. Until they congregate right in front of every. single. fucking. piece. of artwork I'm trying to get a glimpse of in London which will probs put me right back to square one in my bias against them, lol. Another thing, I’m not one to believe in the universe being some kind of sentient entity but based on the way it immediately gets busy the second I say the store is quiet at work, note that I’m knocking on as I write this: Rok Hwang would also make an ideal consultant at Blumarine. Remember RTW S/S21?? That's the dash of witchiness the pairing of David Koma and Ludovic de Saint Sernin would need to take Blumarine back to its former greatness. I don't think anyone could do what Brognano did in isolation but if there's any trio that would be fit to reach those heights again, it's David, Ludovic and Ron for sure. Rok can join JUST as a consultant though. I say this because if someone else had to take over Rokh completely in his absence it would a loss for the culture. The worst thing to happen in the fashion world since Alessandro left Gucci for Valentino, or before we thought he wasn’t going to continue doing the exact same thing at Valentino he was doing at Gucci, lol, which btw I have absolutely no ill will towards him for. I was never that big a fan of Valentino anyway so it was a worthy sacrifice, as much as many will consider that statement to blasphemy. I said what I said!!
Anyways, that's it for now! I want to keep my into & outtro short and snappy so I can stay on track with covering the RTW F/W25 and Haute Couture S/S25 shows as they happen.
So hope anyone reading is well in spite of the shitshow that the world is swiftly becoming these days and as soon as my degree is done (5 weeks left, wtf!) I will be back with a proper recap of the last couple of years of fashion, entertainment and thoughts if anyone is remotely interested, lmao!
As always, please feel free to DM me if you need someone to chat to:)

03 Greedo — Crip, I'm Sexy (self-released)
03 Greedo · Crip, I'm Sexy Hosted By DJ A-Tron
It is, thankfully, getting to be harder to remember a time when we might’ve never heard from James Jamal Jackson again. Originally arrested in 2016 on drug trafficking and possession of a firearm charges facing down a sentence of 300 years, 03 Greedo took a plea deal for 20 just as his star was ascending, just as he was finding his voice with the Purple Summer mixtape trilogy and The Wolf of Grape Street. Clinked up for four years, Greedo waited out two parole denials with a steady stream of second-tier compilations cobbled together from the vaults before his release in January 2023. The man’s been on a tear ever since, picking up right where he left off at an unmatched pace that feels as desperate as it did before he began his sentence in the summer of 2018.
Case in point: Just half a month after releasing the official, Sony-backed album Hella Greedy, the Watts rapper dumped Crip, I'm Sexy on listeners with no warning in early November. At 36 tracks running more than an hour and a half, there’s a lot for you to sift through — and make no mistake, it is on you to do the sifting. Greedo’s already said he might yet have another album to drop before 2024 is over, so what’s on here is already in his rearview mirror.
But let’s pause a moment to reflect on it: Crip, I’m Sexy is his best post-prison release in part because it benefits from that aforementioned desperation, like he can sense a clock is ticking and his brain’s bursting creativity needs unleashing as immediately as possible. What that translates to is an expansive platform for his abilities, a SoundCloud-only mixtape that shoots in every direction at maximum velocity for a breathtaking display of Greedo’s formidable skill.
He’s not alone here, either. Along with an elite cast of producers bringing some seriously diverse heat — Lex Luger, Pi’erre Bourne and Turbo all show up behind the boards, though the majority of the beats are handled by Detroit’s Mia Jayc — Greedo’s trying out local flows and flavors alongside luminaries like Michiganders Icewear Vezzo (you might’ve read about him), Peezy and Bfb da Packman, not to mention up-and-comers like respective Es GrindHard and Babyfxce; Cleveland native Doe Boy; Houstonian Guapo; Skrilla, who hails from Philadelphia, the first city he calls out on the tape in the opening verse of “Best Thing Yet”; the Drake-adjacent Canadian R&B singer Roy Woods; dudes pulled from his local scene out in L.A. in Wallie the Sensei and 500Raxx; and dye-in-the-wool megastar Lil Uzi Vert. That he can move so seamlessly among them is a huge part of his talent, but the other huge part is that he never loses his voice. You always know when Greedo has taken the mic.
Whether he’s cooking at a more lively tempo (“Maybach Minivan,” “Lil Drummer,” “Back End Freestyle”), hooking the chorus croon (“Song 4 U 2,” “Exotic Everything,” “My Gun”) or getting in his grapes over a mournful piano line (“Maybach SUV,” “Exorcist,” “Died in Vain,” “2 People”), 03 Greedo is in top form throughout Crip, I’m Sexy and it’s hard to deny two things: First, this man loves Maybachs; second, he remains one of contemporary hip-hop’s most distinctive, intriguing stylists. “I ain’t been inside the trenches in a while / Tryna provide some more protection for my child” he sings as he winds down “Best Thing Yet.” Hopefully that’s true for the sake of both the artist and the audience … but hopefully it’s also true that he never stops rapping like he’s constantly peering over his shoulder. The quality of his prolific output in that mindset is self-evident.
