Got the latest "Rings of Power" season 2 spoilers from Fellowship of Fans today but starting out with actual news about the show in general and when it'll likely air!!! :D

Amazon is planning to have the show be done in post-production by June 2024. This indicates a fall 2024 release as compared to season one they finished post-production in May and it started airing in September. Most of us have been thinking it'll be fall of 2024 due to multiple factors with the strikes, no promotion so far this year, skipping both major Comic Cons in San Diego and New York, and then Amazon also having their other popular fantasy series "The Wheel of Time" and not wanting these two shows to compete against each other. I've seen others speculate too it's likely now both these shows will air in opposite years to avoid this as 2021 was s1 of "WoT", last year was "TROP", this year was s2 of "WoT", 2024 will be s2 of "TROP, 2025 s3 of "Wot", 2026 s3 of "TROP", and so on. So likely "TROP" will be at both SDCC and NYCC next year too.

Now onto the major spoilers!!! :D

The first scoop was that Charlie Vickers and the actor playing what FOF called the "Original Form" but is likely Annatar filmed a very important scene together that the showrunners were present for. This was filmed before the writers strike happened in May too and the showrunners insisted on being present for this scene. In the YouTube video the FOF's hosts all think this scene is likely either showing either Halbrand/Sauron turning into Annatar in front of Adar before going to Eregion and the audience is in on this plot, or that Annatar shapeshifts back into Halbrand in front of Galadriel and Celeborn in the season finale battle shocking not only them but the audience which was a scoop we had a few weeks ago. :)

FOF clarified too in the YT vid that this scene is not a flashback. Also they insisted again that there's no indication that this Annatar actor is staying past this storyline and is only a recurring guest-star compared to Charlie being a series regular and the main actor as Sauron for the rest of the series. Supposed the Annatar storyline is also only in episodes 6-8 at the most. Though was funny hearing in the YT vid the hosts compare this to "Sailor Moon" transforming. LOL But realistically they think like myself that it'll be similar to how we've seen other shapeshifters like Loki, Mystique, Martian Manhunter, and more do it on-screen in live-action shows and movies.

Then the final scoop was that Círdan will make his debut in the season 2 premiere!!! :D I didn't think he would show up that early but excited for it. Very curious as to how as supposedly the premiere is Sauron centric but this could still work too to show Círdan. In the YT vid they also talked more about him and if his story will connect with the other elves and if he'll get his ring Narya this early or later, and if this will tie into the storyline with The Stranger (possibly Gandalf) and Nori as we've had very little spoilers on their storyline besides them filming in Spain. Still don't know Círdan's actor yet either but again excited to see how this plays out.

The warning at the beginning is because a.) the music is a subgenre of hardcore techno known as gabber and kind of loud, in case you are unfamiliar with this kind of EDM and/or the song in the original video, and, b.) concerns such as photosensitive epilepsy (at one point, 16 images appear in just under four seconds).

Barn scene breakdown-1

Second part coming in a couple of hours as I have to rewrite it due to network collapse *sigh*

Now that it was announced that Joseph left... Guess all I have left are these precious little bits of his acting mastery. Get ready, this scene is an emotional train wreck

Let’s do this.

First shot, camera heavily tilted to the left.

Before Charlotte Brändström said this angle was to show how Adar tips Galadriel off balance, me and my partner had a discussion on whether it is to show that they’re both Distorted (yes, with Melkor’s darkness) or it is a victory OR even sin scales leaning towards Galadriel.

Galadriel’s standing dagger in hand, full body towards Adar, in an undeniable position of power, although she’s keeping her distance to be able see Adar clearly.

Adar is stripped of the gauntlet and whatever piece of rusted shit tip of sauron’s spear lol he’s carrying for a knife, he’s sitting in a very insecure pose, back to the wall, legs drawn to chest, his pierced hand hugging his mangled one.

Also, take notice how the light falls through the openings, just slightly casting Galadriel in itself and never touching Adar. They’re both quite deep in the dark, aren’t they? :)

Adar’s listening but looking past Galadriel, somewhere down and to the left of her (from Adar’s POV).

What might seem as a wandering gaze is actually a gaze fixed on her dagger. He doesn’t seem to fear her at all but it quite seems he’s waiting whether the torture is going to arrive or not. He’ll be looking at the dagger more or less until Galadriel threatens to torture the orcs.

Ah, there we go. Let me close-up.

The moment Galadriel says “the Sons of the Dark“ Adar’s lips’s corners twist down in a bitter smirk. (A vid might show it better)

And yes, “the Sons of the Dark“ does sound like it’s some title, something these elves chose to be, a name that they might carry with pride as the servants of Melkor. Adar is both bitter and angry at the assumption.

Adar glances at Galadriel for the first time.

The self-naming thing is the only thing he will put up a fight for. He doesn’t even begin to argue with the twisted, the ruined, the slaves, the scourge, as he knows his fight won’t matter to his captor, that all his statements will be disregarded.

The self-naming doesn’t interest Galadriel either (understandable, the Orcs are her enemy, she doesn’t want them to be humanized), as she cuts in

Adar bursts out laughing. At least what he substitutes for a burst of laughter.

He could’ve told her, he really could, all the stuff that passed unnoticed in the forest before her very eyes. But would she ever believe him, the enemy, that her friend is the true Enemy?

It is Adar’s continuous stare at the dagger that seems to make Galadriel realize she’s holding onto it.

I’m not guessing whether she has tortured Orcs before, but she’s really not into torturing in cold blood someone who resembles her kin so uncomfortably. She glances at the dagger in doubt, then finds another way.

We know this threat’s enough to make Adar start talking.

But it’s also the only thing that actually makes him look away from the potential source of his own torture (the dagger) for the first time and look at the potential source of torture for his Uruks (the sun). He blinks as the threat settles in.

It’s also the first time you can see his eyes glisten with unshed tears.

He starts talking while looking at the Uruks.

(Interesting word choice, though, he calls Melkor Morgoth, “The Black Foe of the World”, a title Feanor gave him and Elves used as an insult. But it is probably because tRoP doesn’t have the rights for “Melkor”)

He will never even once glance at Galadriel during his speech.

(Interesting word choice-2, though, as it shows us Adar called Sauron something else. Tar-Mairon probably, the guy loved that name)

He now stares into nothingness and his lips tremble when he talks about a power over flesh. The tears in his eyes can be fully seen now.

Mawle is playing it full PTSD-flashback mode, tbh. The sheer amount of shit Adar’s seen is reflected in his tired and strained expression.

Also let me point out this is the first time he’s ever talking about his feat of taking down the greatest Maia to walk Middle-Earth. Not a good time, not the best person to spill out to.

“He bid as many as he could follow him far North. But tried, as he might, something was missing. A shadow of dark knowledge that kept itself hidden. Even from him.“

And oh, Galadriel believes him really well.

She has been there, she has been to the stronghold where Sauron died, she has even felt the coldest chamber where the Uruk torture and, presumably, the murder occured. She blinks as shifts gaze as she realizes Adar’s telling the truth.

Adar’s not forgiving Sauron for what he did. He’s looking even lower than before, completely at the floor, even shaking his head a little bit.

He calls the Uruk “children”, he also expresses his discontent with what Sauron did.

And that’s what (quite literally) pulls Galadriel out of trance.

She has been unconsciously leaning towards Adar as he was telling the story but now that the spell is broken, she pulls back and keeps distance.

This is the first time he says these words out loud, “I killed Sauron”. It seems it’s hard for him to believe himself as at first he states it differently, “I split him open”, and only then makes himself acknowledge and say “I killed Sauron“.

It’s a confession Adar makes more to himself then to Galadriel.

Of course she doesn’t. She unifies everything that is connected to Melkor and can’t take in that someone on THAT side might actually not be on Melkor’s or Sauron’s side.

Now it’s Adar who’s not impressed at all. The camera does a job of breaking the viewers neck to see it, and I have a feeling it was to further deepen the misunderstanding between Galadriel and Adar. Galadriel just can’t see him right.

He tilts his head and looks back up at Galadriel for the first time since his story. Lets out an amused exhale (can’t show that on a gif!)

Adar seems to know the drill. I guess it’s not his first time talking to the Elves as an Uruk. So the Elven concept of “Orcs are indescibably inferior to us“ is very well-known to him.

By now he’s just saying it for her, mocking her, showing her he knows what she’s about to say.

But Adar is wrong, it wasn’t the Uruks in whole Galadriel was thinking of.

Oh that contempt in her eyes as she’s looking him up and down. She doesn’t see him as a threat, she doesn’t see him as a leader, she doesn’t see him as anything at all.

And then we get aboard the actual emotional train wreck that is this scene because Galadriel’s view of the world finally snaps Adar (and it’s not the personal insult that gets him but her view of the Uruks)

Galadriel’s isn’t taking that. For her, Orcs are definitely not a race of their own. They’re mindless beasts unleashed by Morgoth/Sauron.

Galadriel gets Adar even more, notice how his lips tremble and how his eyebrows and lower eyelids move before he says “a heart“. That’s what it looks like to argue and not believe you’ll ever be heard.

He isn’t heard. For Galadriel, Orcs are connected to Melkor, therefore they’re evil and that’s all there is to it.

And so Adar appeals to the only being they both have little knowledge about, trying to get to her through religion, if nothing else works.

They interrupt each other during this argument, the dialogue speeding up, showing each one passionately standing their own ground, ready to defend their own view of the world.

Galadriel isn’t ready to comprehend that Orcs may not want to serve Melkor/Sauron and may have wishes of their own. Something as simple as a home or just a life. Adar’s simply tired and miserable from hitting against the wall even as he tries again and again. There are tears in his eyes as he says the “just as worthy of a breath of life“ line. Firstly I thought it was just light reflection but no, the tears are perfectly seen when he blinks (after the word “life”). This freaking moment breaks my heart every time I see it

Galadriel’s world collides against that. She hasn’t the slightest idea what to do with his words at first as they don’t match anything she thinks or believes in. She just stands there as her brain is trying to cope.

Adar saves her the need to immediately answer.

He’s looking at the floor, at the tunnel dig from Orodruin.

Galadriel’s brain copes. And it does so the easiest way, repelling everything she has just heard, so her world may stay the same as before.

Galadriel is rejecting everything Adar has said, repeating out loud what she has always thought about the Orcs.

19 décembre :

Hélas la fin de mon séjour au Brésil arrive déjà. Avant de rentrer en Argentine je visite le barrage d'Itaipu situé sur le fleuve Paraná qui sépare le Brésil du Paraguay. Mais je devrais plutôt écrire "qui unit", puisqu'il s'agit d'un site "binacional" où l'on se situe à la fois au Brésil et au Paraguay en même temps. Cette centrale énergétique est tout autant une prouesse technique que diplomatique; chaque pays détenant 50% de l'énergie produite et toute l'administration étant divisée entre les deux pays (2 PDG). 2e plus gros barrage au monde après celui des trois gorges en Chine, les installations sont impressionnantes; j'ai même visité une turbine en fonctionnement dont on ne voyait "que" l'arbre qui reliait la turbine à l'alternateur (!!!). De retoure à Puerto Iguazu en Argentine j'enchaîne avec un bus de 4h jusqu'à San Ignacio. Arrivé en fin de soirée je me couche direct.

20 décembre:

Si je suis dans ce village c'est parce qu'il se situe dans la région où les Jésuites se sont implantés à partir du XVIe siècle. De véritable cités monastiques en autarcie exclusives aux guaranis se sont ainsi développées pendant à peu près 2 siècles avant que l'ordre ne se fasse expulser par les couronnes espagnol et portugaise. Puis les guerres entre les nouveaux pays formés de nouveau monde on finit d'achever ce qui restait des missions. Du coup il ne reste que des ruines qui sont aujourd'hui plus nettoyées que restaurées et classées patrimoine mondiale Unesco. BREF, j'ai visité celle de San Ignacio, j'étais tout seul, et ça m'a fait pensé un peu à Angkor Wat, des ruines dans la jungle qui sortent d'un temps perdu et mystiques. On a envie de se téléporter dans le temps et faire revivre cette société "communiste" (mais aussi esclavagiste, rien n'est parfait finalement avec cette doctrine). Puisque je suis dans la jungle autant profiter de cet enfers vert. Je loue donc un vélo (tout aussi pourri que la VW que j'avais loué) pour me rendre au parc Teyucuaré et admirer des points de vue sur le Paraná. Il fait trop chaud; 38° et 1000000% d'humidité. J'ai mon 1er accident de drone quand je le fais décoller direct sur un arbre... il se casse la gueule devant moi (une torture à regarder) mais j'arrive à le faire revoler malgré un bras disloqué que je n'arrive plus à replier. Il s'en sort... l'après midi je prends un bus de 1h pour Posada, la grande ville de la région.

21 décembre :

Je continue donc ma visite des missions Jésuites à partir de Posada, à la frontière Paraguayenne, que je franchi pour visiter Trinidad. Tout autant en ruine que San Ignacio, je prends autant de plaisir à m'y balader. Je passerai 4h à faire l'AR depuis Posadas pour 40min de visite mais j'ai mon tampon du Paraguay sur mon passeport, et ça, ça n'a pas de prix. Puis je refais le grand saut du retour vers Córdoba avec un bus de 18h. Mention spéciale à Yuri, un Paraguayen que j'aurai croisé 2 fois et qui m'expliquera comment il est poursuivi par les mafias, comment Dieu exterminera ses ennemis avec des éclairs, et comment il a le droit d'user de la forces d'ici là. Aucune idée comment je me suis retrouvé à papoter avec lui mais j'ai vite pris mes distance avec ce fou furieu.

22 décembre :

Arrivé à 9h à Córdoba que je connais déjà, je m'occupe comme je peux jusqu'à prendre mon bus de 23h30 pour Mendoza. Je fais entre autre un musée d'art moderne puis un musée d'art contemporain dont je ne comprends absolument rien. Vivement retrouver les Andes, ça fait 2 nuits de suite que je rêve (littéralement) de randonnée.

23 décembre :

Arrivé à 09h00 à la capitale viticole d'Amerique du sud, je découvre la ville surtout pendant mon trajet à pied de la gare routière à mon hostel. La ville a été détruite pendant un tremblement de terre et il n'y a pas vraiment d'attraction touristique. Par contre elle a été reconstruite avec de larges trottoirs sous de gros arbres abritant les piétons du soleil; c'est très agréable. Journée logistique : lessive, achat camping gaz, transfert vidéos sur le cloud, courses en prévisions de mes prochains bivouacs, apero (je respecte le région et ça sera du vin cette fois).

24 décembre :

Sans émotions de m'éloigner de la civilation en ces jours où les relations sociales sont de coutume, je pars m'isoler dans la montagne. Que Mendoza soit réputée pour son vin, c'est comme l'eau sur les plumes d'un canard, ca glisse (ballec), qu'elle soit située au pied de l'Aconcagua (6990m !!!), sommet des Amériques, le canard s'est pris un obus dans la gueule. Du coup, bus jusqu'au lieu dit "las cuevas" juste avant le tunnel qui mène au Chilie (officiellement je suis d'ailleurs ni en Argentine ni au Chilie, étant entre les 2 postes frontière). Puis, ENFIN, je randonne jusqu'à un lac gelé situé dans une vallée aux couleurs incroyables, ça ressemble un peu aux Alpes mais en plus austère, toujours ces touches rougeâtres qui doivent être du à l'immersion de cette chaîne de montagne gigantesque dans l'océan, et qui doit être à l'origine de tous ces matériaux donnant des couleurs originales. Je voulais camper au lac mais c'est assez exposé au vent et je ne n'avais pas prévu qu'il soit gelé, je risque de passer une sale nuit dans le froid (pourtant je ne suis "que" à 3700m). Je plante ma tente plus bas à 3500m, ce qui ne m'empêchera pas d'avoir un peu froid. J'ai une vue panoramique sur la vallée, je suis complètement seul, la "presque" pleine lune prend le relais au soleil donnant un spectacle de lumière.

Bilan: 10km, 600m d+

25 décembre :

Grosse journée au programme. Je reviens sur la ruta 7, qui relie Buenos Aires à Santiago, pendant le réveil du soleil. Puis je monte au Pico del Cristo Redentor, marquant la frontière avec le Chili. Belle vue mais pas aussi impressionnante que décrit par le routard. Puis stop jusqu'au sentier qui mène à la Laguna Horcones, dans le parc provincial Aconcagua, et que je dois donc payé (3eur). Belle vue sur l'Aconcagua. Parenthèse ouverte sur ce parc: ça aurait été un pure bonheur que d'essayer (restons humble) de monter au sommet de l'Aconcagua. Il n'est pas du tout technique (moins que le Huyana Potosi en Bolivie) et le "seul" challenge, c'est l'altitude. Sachant que j'ai fait un sommet à 6300m sans ressentir aucun effet d'altitude, j'avais très envie de tester mes limites. MAIS, s'y aventurer coûte 5000e, rien que le permis pour y accéder c'est 1000e. On est loin des 40eur que j'ai payé pour le Parinacota (6300m). Donc j'y fais l'impasse et je me ballade hors de ce parc. L'accès à la nature doit être un bien publique et je refuse de participer à sa commercialisation. Parenthèse fermée. Puis stop jusqu'à la puente del Inca ou je fait le début de la randonnée menant au Cerro Penitentes. La nuit je sors ma tête de la tente et je vois que toute la vallée est éclairée par la pleine lune. J'en suis émus tellement c'est merveilleux.

Bilan: 23km, 1100m d+

26 décembre :

C'est parti pour finir le (gros du) travail entamée la veille. Day pack et je grimpe 1400m d+, traverse 4 gués dechaussé, pour arrivé à 4400m d'altitude sur un plateau aux falaises verticales et qui domine mon bivouac. Le paysage me fait toujours penser aux Alpes, mais en tellement plus impressionnant... pour commencer j'ai une vue directe et dégagée sur le mythique Aconcagua, et tout autour sur 360°, plein de monts blanc (oui au pluriel), des vallées, un lac turquoise, des cours d'eau (c'est le debut de l'été et la montagne perd toute ses eaux). J'ai l'impression d'être au sommet du monde, noyé dans un univers qui, littéralement, me dépasse. Je redescends, reprend mon gros sac au bivouac, et reviens sur la ruta 7. L'autostop sera infructueux et je médite sur comment l'humain peut être naturellement bon lorsque le contact est direct, et naturellement un gros connard lorsqu'une barrière nous sépare; ici un pare-brise. Donc je marche jusqu'à un bled et attends 1h le bus qui m'amène au village d'Uspallata où je dormirai au camping.

Bilan: 22km, 1500m d+

27 décembre :

Ah j'oubliais: Feliz Navidad! Sans festivité, je prends le bus du retour pour Mendoza où je me repose jusqu'à l'heure de l'apero mais surtout du dîner. Mendoza étant réputé pour sa gastronomie je me fais un bon resto. Et bien les argentins n'ont obsolument rien à envier à nos vins, ils sont excellents et surtout très bon marché. Un (gros) verre ne coûte que 1,5eur. La viande est sans surprise dionisiaque, fondante dans la bouche, et le rhum Barceló Gran Anejo (République dominicaine) d'une douceur qui manque je trouve aux rhums Martiniquais (ma seul référence).

Ashes of love : Yan You ♥

Yan You was my favourite character in Ashes of Love ♥ Sadly, he's not one of the main leads, so he's got less screentime, but he still has enough that there's material for gifs :D (and this is batch 1, more later) yay !

While some other characters were more developed (though Yan You is far from a shallow character), I just found him especially likeable. He's the playful, seemingly unbothered type that's more powerful and involved than he looks, and for a while, it's not clear what game he's playing, so of course I was bound to love him, haha. His (non-romantic) relationship with the female lead was one of my favourites ♥

Yan You était mon personnage favori d'Ashes of Love ♥ Malheureusement, il ne fait pas partie du cast central, donc il a moins de temps d'écran, mais heureusement il en a suffisamment pour faire des gifs :D Et ce n'est que la première fournée (plus plus tard) yay !

Certains personnages étaient plus développés (même si Yan You n'est pas creux du tout) mais je l'aime particulièrement. Il est du genre joueur, d'apparence désinvolte, mais plus puissant et plus impliqué qu'il y parait, et pendant un temps, on ne sait pas trop à quel jeu il joue, donc évidemment, j'allais forcément l'aimer, haha. Sa relation (non romantique) avec l'héroïne est une de mes favorites ♥
