FIRST you got the fandom classics. the way you used to do, incinerate, zero: birth of the worlds best hero duo, and fire lily -- these are all EXTREMELY plot heavy n angsty, meaning you'd kinda need a break right?

SO then you have your fluff monsters. surprise reunions and childhood rekindling and you left a sour aftertaste by my wife, @lady-of-snails, sugar stardust, and dance with me

then you move on to the canon divergents! not too much of an AU to leave heroes, but enough to alter the plot. before midnight, second chance, landscape after cruelty, and while you were sleeping,

and then then THEN you get to the REAL AUs. the shit thats out of scope. fluff monsters were kind of these, but i had to separate it cause these next ones are ANGST BEASTS.... someone borrowed, mechanical bull, and beyond sea and storm

Hi! This isn't a super common trope but I might know a few. I hope you can find something!

Hijacked by my_odestiny - This one features Annie in the Capitol. There is some angst but the ending is hopeful, which I like.

Wherever There Is You by BeesKnees - This is a beautiful one about Annie in the Capitol. There's not actual hijacking but there is some psychological manipulation, so the tone is about the same.

Drumming in My Head by oh_so_loverly - This one does a great job of getting into Annie's head while she was in the Capitol. There's not really hijacking but the imagery and emotions are really vivid.

Driftwood by Chaed - This is a really cool one featuring Annie, Johanna and Peeta in the Capitol. The writing style is so unique and captivating, so you might like to give this one a try.

Weekly Book Recs 1/5/2024-1/12/2024

The Lady Thief of Belgravia by Allison Grey (out 1/18/2024).

This debut historical is a mixture of espionage and My Fair Lady, with an coolly suave hero and a hard-nosed heroine. I was pleasantly surprised by its vibe--a romcom with a slant of real emotion. Read my full review here.

Lady Charlotte and the Seductive Spymaster by Grace Callaway

A sexy, angsty, and wildly entertaining second chance marriage in trouble book--wherein the ridiculously swoonworthy, besotted husband faked his death and has been gone for TWELVE YEARS. Sure, he had his reasons, but his icily competent wife has become something of a vigilante/detective since then, and she is not happy with him. Exactly what I wanted it to be. (Ass eating, riding crops, and Victorian dildos included.) Read my full review here.

Dragon Bound by The Harrison

Oooh, that looks like a big fantasy big cover! A book wherein they eat so much gruel! In fact, the main thing getting eaten in this book is PUSSY. To be very real, the monster romances of today wherein the heroine has sex with an actual legit lizard man named Sean position themselves as edgy, but Sean like, KNITS. It doesn't matter if his dick is forked, HE DOES MACRAME. Dragos does not have sex with Pia, the woman who triggers his ire and his obsession after she steals one (1) penny from his horde (and not a magic penny, legit just a penny, but he's REAL salty about it), while he is in dragon form. Because that would be impossible. He does, however, commit wholesale slaughter for her and does shit like ask for a chunk of her hair so he can make himself a friendship bracelet out of it or something. He's so CLEARLY not human, despite being a Hot Man, and his adapting to become something with the type of humanity she needs is DELIGHTFUL. Also, there's a group of BUDDIES who are SUPER DEADLY but also very "omg bro!!! You're making a happy home!!!! I'm thrilled for you!!!" which I love. (He's NESTING, and I love. A nesting. Hero. So Much. I want them to make a little cottage with a nice bed and I want them to be like "but would she LIKE? Blue curtains?" in between financially and/or physically destroying their enemies.) It's very Lykae-esque, if you've read Immortals After Dark. Like when the werewolves are all massively dangerous and hedonistic but are also like "God I wish that was me" whenever any of their friends settle down because they're made of 100% husband material? That vibe.

Steve being really good at one thing that nobody expects him to be good at.

Hard of hearing Steve

Eddie delving deeper into his artsy side, may it be drawing more specific portraits, doodling, painting D&D minis, or even tattooing.

Eddie having a hate boner for Steve Harrington pre-season 4, and proceeding to have a hate crush on him for the duration of Steve's time in high school.

Steve being close to Holly Wheeler because he's probably the most affectionate person in the Wheeler household every time he visits besides Karen.

In relation to the previous bullet, Steve generally being more affectionate (read: touch starved) with others because he grew up with barely any affection at all.

(not popular but something i want to see:) Eddie probably entertains some of the kids in the trailer park with stories because it's something he would've wanted as a kid.

Confident Steve flirting with Eddie, post-bisexual awakening. Additionally, Eddie being a flustered mess and not knowing what to do. Also known as, Eddie flirting up a storm and when Steve flirts back, he proceeds to stutter and trip over himself.

Eddie making time to learn about Steve's interests because Steve tries hard to learn his.

Hairdresser or Baker/Cook Steve! I think it's just neat to see him be good at something.

Eddie not being a music snob. Like, yes, he's a huge metalhead and he will always have strong opinions about what he thinks is the best, but he doesn't shun any other opinions because why should he? To each their own.

Eddie realizing that what he did to Lucas was a shitty thing when his basketball game and Hellfire Night landed on the same day and making it up to him.

Anytime Steve tries to play Dungeons & Dragons is my favorite.

Steve knowing he's bisexual long ago but never telling anyone until they find out on their own.

FAKE DATING AUs !! Also anything tagged with Idiots to Lovers.

Domestic steddie slow dancing in the kitchen, listening to love songs on the radio. Existing and not thinking too much.

Steve helping Eddie study for his finals. No, he's not as smart as Nancy Wheeler, but he tries to learn other ways for Eddie to remember what he needs to study.

Teacher Steve x Rockstar Eddie AUs are amazing. But besides the usual "I didn't know you were married to a rockstar, Mr. Harrington!" trope, I like the idea of the entire world finding out famous musician Eddie Munson bends to the will of a man who wears sweater vests to work unironically.

The fics where Steve is either a professor/teacher, a guidance counselor, or a child psychologist are all what I want in life.

Steve hanging out with Max and Dustin (specifically, but not limited to). The Party becoming overprotective of him because he's sacrificed too much for them.

STEVE AND JONATHAN FRIENDSHIP. I always see people talk about Jonathan and Eddie being weed buddies, but you guys need to see the purity of Steve and Jonathan finally being friends. I'd like to see them get over their differences and hang out unironically.

If it isn't obvious yet, I'm a sucker for any tropes that means everyone will be freaked out by Steve in any shape or form (his hobbies, his friends, etc.)

Eddie "dating" someone to make Steve jealous. (It is up to you whether or not Steve does something about it. For whump material, I like torturing myself by thinking that Steve would get jealous but doesn't do anything about it because he thinks he's not the better choice.)

FOR ANGST: any fic where Steve sacrificed too much of himself and Eddie being angry at the world yet waiting on Steve. Whether it be a coma fic or some other one where he gets a major injury, it's all good.

Time loop fics where Steve falls in love little by little but Eddie has been in love with him all throughout. Those moments where he shouldn't know that Steve is reliving the same day over and over, but with one look, Eddie can notice how different he still is despite wearing the same clothes as before.

And lastly, Steve obsessing over one specific detail about Eddie. (His lips, how he plays with his hair, his rings, maybe even something nsfw lmao, etc.) With how affectionate and clingy he really is as a boyfriend, I can only imagine he's the type of guy who latches onto one specific thing that he thinks is extremely cute (or a turn on) and can't get it out of his mind. Whenever he does something about it, Eddie is confused but lets him. It's like they have their own telepathic communication that understands what the other wants.

I'll probably add more to this list to keep track. But here's some of the things I absolutely love to see in steddie fics. Some of them are personal ideas and headcanons. I'm a sucker for self-sacrifice.

ao3 search for wolfstar + sub remus - dom remus turns up 39 fics (i wanted to exclude switchy fics), and 11 more were alternatively tagged bottom remus + Dom/sub! (top/bottom tagging alone turned up mostly things with little to no D/s dynamic in the smut)

i also focused solely on fics where wolfstar—and wolfstar only no poly—was the main/only pairing.

My little ramble may have resonated a bit, so I feel like recklessly re-sharing my Fiend-centric Fic Chapters~ I will likely just update and reblog this as needed. This is taking forever to check over to compile... This should be a relatively comprehensive list and is 99% NSFW so 18+ only. Chapters from A Tav's Guide

ATG is my ongoing fic centred on f!Tav x Astarion until the act 2 conversation, where they agree that love and lust can be entirely separate, allowing Tav to explore other opportunities for sex with the arrangement that she will write about it in her diary to share later. Rough premise, I know, but it works to allow a fun and smutty story~ Raphael and Haarlep feature a fair few times so far, especially when their appearances were far too fun.

ATG 4 - Dream? Nightmare.

The Cambion, The Gift, and The Contract

The very first meeting, also establishing Haarlep before they became Haarlep and what they looked like. The incubus steps in to the mansion in Avernus to meet their new Master, the one they've been sent to spy on, carrying nothing but the clothes on their back and specific instructions. They don't even have a name any more, trading everything away for the promise of far greater rewards if they succeed. Meanwhile, a young Raphael does not have time or patience to entertain the idea of another attempted distraction, until they both realise there might just be a way that both can get what they want.
