you know the handmaid’s tale, the well known dystopian novel where the setting is deeply shocking and heartbreaking because it’s all about completely legal and deeply violent oppression and dehumanization of people that aren’t the ones in the position of power? well, the event that sets the plot of the handmaid’s tale in motion is a group of conservative fundamentalists storming the us congress and forcing their violent and selfish views on the rest of the country under a threat of violence. you are literally living the plot of the well known and profoundly shocking dystopian novel where the society is, very clearly, deeply and violently unfair. this is exactly how that happens.
