Autumn turns to AJ, and let's out an annoyed sigh. Annoyed at what, she can't even say - there are too many options and she's preoccupied, and she doesn't want to fly off the handle for no reason, and she knows, besides everything, she's been sidestepping everything else in favor of putting out the fires in her own life.

"She does. She has ... what the. Tits?"

Autumn's tone is drenched in her trying to figure out the mechanics of the analogy to really deliver further humor. When he moves to investigate the contents of the cooler she's haphazardly shoved into the over-small trunkspace, she almost protests. "I- don't... open..."she sighs. "... that."

Seeing it sitting there, cut up and layered in a cooler like so much meat from the grocery store, her shoulders sink. It's not even her problem to be solving, but she feels compelled. A full moon's approaching and she can feel it stir at the sight, this thing that lives sleeping and slumbering at the core of her perceptions. She swallows - ostensibly out of nervousness - in truth, its her mouth watering at an intrusive thought that sets it off.

"I... I'm sorry I've just got a lot going on right now. With the store, and.. me and A...my girlfriend aren't in the best place right now? Which sucks because, well." She motions to the brick and mortar beside them. She drops the cooler lid, before anyone else can just stroll up and see before she starts trying to fidget it back into place. "I'm sorry, AJ - I know I said this wouldn't be a problem, and I don't have an excuse, I have well and truly bitten off..."

Do not... say that.

"I've just kind of overextended, I think."

There's no bloody fucking way that dear Aut's left out the detail that she's a businesswoman now. It's not like he's entirely out of the loop of Howell's little realm of whatever she does in her spare time. But he is. And he wonders why he ever pays anyone to keep tabs on his people when he's late learning that she and her adorable little breakdown girlfriend have a bookshop? Probably have breakdown's terrible music blaring within too, if he actually decided to go inside.

He wouldn't even be meandering by at all if car crash had not been annoyingly difficult to pin down. She's extended her little moonbreak from a week, to two and then more. AJ's understanding, to a degree, he's also been without a half-decent driver to call on for weeks. Uber's are slow, miserable and often cancel. He doesn't get cancelled on. He almost bought out Uber, during one liquor-laced evening before he realised it might be a terrible investment because he'd fire the entirety of the shitpit city's crew and start over. He'd had better odds flagging down a randomer, and flashing bills at them for a lift.

Werewolves, he's decided, are a pain in his arse.

"Oh you remember me, it's been so long, love." He's joking, even if he's snapping his tongue on his teeth like patience is a new thing he's practising. He's not mad. In fact, he actually is mad, because he's not; he's concerned.

And god help him for that. He'd rather be pissed.

She's breaking the second Porsche he'd given her via the aggression she is slamming the trunk down with. His eyebrow raises and his smile creeps back in; the familiar health of Astor's usual demenour easily comes back; she's alright. She's just dodging him. It's undecided what's worse. A part of him had hoped to find her dying of the plague or something.

"I'm here to repo my driver, mate. She's gone and invested in paper and leatherbound old things and I'm starting to think she's got a little too many tits on her plate to handle." Whatever he's walked in on at the back of the newly-bought shop, has him wandering around to her side to see the boot that she's overfilled.

A beat, to nudge her shoulder, like the barrier of apprehension bursts because she's fine, and he's now allowed to edge out of worry for her, and enter the business degree of their relationship: "You should have called, I'm great with tits."

TrunkSpace: Your home state of West Virginia has been hit hard by the prescription drug epidemic. Do you think a film like “Back Fork” and art in general can shed light on problems like this in a way that journalism and documentary filmmaking can’t?
