#artists on tumblr #art #illustration #my art #digital art #digital drawing #my ocs #noah #oc art #You know that feeling when you're touch starved as all hell so when someone does touch you the feeling sticks around for hours after?#yeah that #with a side of Noah running away from what he REALLY wants but can't allow himself to keep #meaning he's then repeatedly shocked to realise he does in fact end up missing Martin every time he runs off #i'm still having a lot of fun experimenting with some new stuff #really happy with how this one came out though #i think i finally nailed that balance between texture and smoothness i've been trying to achieve for a while now #at the core of these experimets is the hunt for the style i have in mind for a future comic project #and i think this is very close to what i'm after #I want to use pop-art elements like these more as well #those bold colourful outlines and haphazard shapes slapped on top of things #messing with gouache on the side is genuinely helping me think differently when i paint digitally which is very neat #loving the process so far and excited to see what new skills i can learn from this

#gender is soup #sci speaks #i'm so sorry i know you might hope for something profound but... i think when i'm put on the spot like this i can't say anything really #i think whatever i am is definitely pervasive in everything i write #but like.. gender means something different to wade than it does for peter.#just like it'll be different for everybody. we make different associations based on our experiences and our trauma.#like.. wade associates femininity with love. because of his mother. associates masculinity with violence. because of his father.#peter associates masculinity with responsibility. because of uncle ben. associates femininity with confidence. because of aunt may.#i think there's all kinds of reasons why we choose to present the way we do. and what gender means to us.#just like we'll associate a colour with something. or a smell with a memory. it's complicated.#i don't think i'm some kind of expert on gender things but... i just find it interesting to explore. the psychology of it.#i don't think it's supernatural. it doesn't come from nowhere. but it should be a playground.#i don't think anyone in this world should be restricted to a certain role to play. i want to try all the roles and see how it fits.#see how well i can play them.#maybe because i haven't found one that quite fits. so i want the opportunity to try whatever i can. see what feels right.#i think it would be fun to be a wife. i think it would be fun to be a husband. i think it would be fun to be a firefighter. i think it wo #shrugs. different outfits for every day. different roles to play.#today i'd like to try...#i think it's like kids learning how to be adults by playing pretend. by playing roles.#i'm learning more about myself and other people and fitting into the world by trying on different roles.#kids playing house. you be the mom. i'll be the dad. yadda yadda.#i still feel like a bit of a kid who hasn't figured out how to be an adult yet. so i'm still trying out roles to see what fits.

#vee queued to fill the void #lol sometimes i wonder if i miss the division beef #like nothing can really hit that 1st drb experience but kr also didn’t try lol #and while i can definitely breathe easier since they aren’t so intense anymore is that really a good thing i’ve been wondering lol 🤔#like i see lots of people of the opinion that the conflicts between the leaders got solved waaaaaaaaaaay too quickly and i don’t disagree #i like pointing out how long it took jakurai to forgive ramuda vs how long it took kuukou to forgive ramuda #like from the standpoint of two individuals who have buddha/god imagery attached to them #and for that reason it’s really cool that kuukou forgave ramuda instantly without needing to know ramuda’s baggage like jakurai did #but should that have cooked some more is what i wonder lol #it could have also set up some fun differences between sasara and kuukou who are both very bonds dependent #but kuukou could have been significantly more angry about being split from ichiro vs sasara numbly accepting the loss #and it gets across in a way in the 6 colours track because kuukou does let ramuda know lmao #and sasara only chimes in after kuukou lets ramuda off the hook lol like it’s there!!!!! should it have cooked tho #ramuda being forgiven by everyone is good because plenty wasn’t his fault but him choosing ichiro and samatoki WAS #so something like that probably could have stewed longer lol #this is a whole entire thing actually lol i wanna keep rambling about the surface level squabbles we got with like gentaro and juto #and beefs that could have exposed more like hifumi and gentaro’s #or just the fact since posse is at the center of all conflict with their strongest chuuoku ties and idk if that’s a good thing rly #but these are a lot of tags lmao

Hello - I'm a fellow artist and would love to produce my own prints, and was wondering if you could share what printer you use?

Hi there! I have a canon pixma pro 200! I should warn you it’s very expensive, I was lucky that a local store had one with a very steep discount. That said, I’ve had unnaturally awful luck with printers (going through 3 before this one each with weird and unfixable issues) and this one worked perfectly out of the box and, knock on wood, I have never had to play with settings or troubleshoot anything.

Stores will usually have a return policy or offer warranties so honestly I would recommend looking into what’s close to you and doing research on the printers they have in stock. If it turns out the quality isn’t what you want (or if it doesnt work. lol.) you can return it and try another ^^

If you want to try selling your art before investing a lot of money into a printer I know a lot of artists get their work printed by a printing house and shipped to them— I’ve never done this and wouldn’t know where to begin but its worth looking into i think!

The epson i actually tried for years trying to resolve colour issues and nothing worked #I have friends with an Epson (different model entirely) that had the exact same issue they couldn’t resolve either #Hp was a nightmare idk the program was awful and it was…. Unpredictable #A tech-savvy friend of mine informed me that hp has a lot of issues in general and recommended i just take it back #I also tried a cheap canon which i cant quite remember what was wrong with it.. i think the overall quality was just not good #Anyways revisiting the printer memories has unsettled my nerves lmao #But i wanted to offer some help/advice/experience beyond just saying which printer i have ^^;

This is definitely just a petty pet peeve, I know, and I don't mean this in a condescending way when I say it, but as someone who has been a professional character designer and illustrator -- as in I've been paid for it and hired by people to design characters and do illustrations as a freelancer -- for the better part of the last... 7 years, given a rough estimate, it really frustrates me hearing 16 and 17 year olds claim that they've been character designers or illustrators for 10 years.

Like, I'm genuinely glad they see their designing as experience!! Because it is!! But when I'm talking from a professional POV, using knowledge I've learned on the job, with techniques and the like that I've trained and honed in a professional paid for sense, and I suddenly get a "yeah I mean I've got 10 years experience" from a 17 year old its like... Please take me seriously, kid. I've been making character designs since I was 6, that does not mean I have 16 years experience as a character designer. There's a difference between professional experience and having fun making characters as a kid, and unfortunately the latter does not get you credibility in the professional field. I wish it did, but there is in fact a vast difference between the two.

This also goes for when I hear people who are hobbyist go "you don't need to learn the basics of art! You don't need to study anatomy or lighting or x y z fundamental!" because on some level I do agree! You can get into art without studying those things. However do not bitch and whine when your art doesn't look how you wanted it to when you refuse to learn colour theory. You need to know the rules before you can break them, is a rule of thumb I have with art.

This is largely just a vent post about people not taking me or my advice even remotely seriously with art btw. I'm often asked for advice on art and then told im wrong or that they know better despite being younger and/or less professionally experienced. It's just really frustrating, because I try to give positive feedback, as well as constructive criticism, but whenever I ask people for art advice, I'll typically get incredibly subjective opinions on what they find looks better. And it's like I am asking for what techniques here work vs don't not if you think the character would look better with fangs or cat ears.

#im frustrated #im not taken even remotely seriously among artists because a running issue in art circlea #at least in intermediate and beginner ones #is that everyone is so hellbent on being The One Thats Right #and im guilty of it too! i can admit!#but i also have actual fucking professional experience #and have seriously studied this stuff for YEARS because its my job and has been #so hearing people just tear shit apart on purely subjective things like they like orange better #despite orange changing the entire mood and vibe of a piece #really fucking sucks #because its all oneupmanship all the way down #and again i know i do the same! i dont know how to advise on some stuff #bc i dont know how to explain How to learn colour theory other than fucking study it #i cant teach it in bite sized bits and give you the whole picture in tiktok snippet sized comments #but i try and give objective praise #such as why a character design works according to general industry rules and general art rules #i.e the silhouette or the lighting being accurate or the design being interesting but not cluttered #also everyone saying g*nshin designs are cluttered? perhaps a touch however uhhh #your standard fantasy designs arent any better ♡#nor are your fave magical girls or whatever #cluttered designs have their places! and g*nshin isnt even that bad with it imo #you want cluttered look at fire emblem #this is said hella affectionately too btw i love fe #anyways idk i just wish other artists would take me seriously #..... its frustrating too because its ALWAYS white artists who talk down to me

In the How Things Change Au, Theodore is very attached to his uncle Luke, he’s practically glued to his side whenever he visits (Hershel is quite the same) and wants to go with him on his ‘adventures’, though he’s a bit too young at the moment.

Also I find the idea of Luke giving Theodore his old hat extremely cute, maybe it even influences his style as he grows up.

What really sucks about gluten free stuff (apart from it never being as good as the original) is that it's often lumped in with dairy free/vegan and I'm just sitting here like whyyyyy where am I supposed to get protein from huh?? And my calcium for my thrice-at-risk-of-osteoporosis bones??? And have you ever tried vegan stuff/food made with dairy alternatives that aren't pure rice or coconut milk? They're gross! Macaroni cheese, but you're not allowed the fuckin cheese on top of not being able to have real pasta???? Hell. Nightmare. Gimme my DAIRY! I bet anyone with a dairy allergy isn't having fun with the gluten free side either. Yuck. And while I'm on a Rant, why the FUCK are you putting fuckin apple in the gluten free version of JAFFA CAKES?????? Just... why why why are they trying to cater to all these things at once. Terrible. The only overlap I'm thankful for is the nut free thing, bc if you're ever in a cafe or wherever their gluten free cake is 95% likely to contain nuts bc apparently anyone wanting gluten free is also a fuckin vegan and capable of eating nuts?? Bleh. Even the shit in shops is more often gluten & dairy free/vegan than it is gluten free & nut free. I'm dying here. I'm starving. I'm withering away and I'm full of spite and rage at the predatory pricing and the extorionate shit I have to face any time I want to eat food.
