I sometimes get uncomfortable around arguments about if certain characters are abusive or not- obviously I see this the most with 2012 tmnt and nobody really needs my opinion but I keep thinking about it so here’s some words to chew on.

Keep in mind I haven’t seen much of 2012 so I’ll mostly be talking about the WAY I see these discussions being had here, rather than the show itself.

I doubt the creators intended for the turtles to be abusive and I kind of just assume that everything they do is within the genre of slapstick kids show. But I also don’t think people who cringe away from the way they treat each other are reading too much into it.

I’ve seen people argue that ppl who think the brothers are abusive just don’t have siblings and that’s an insane take to me. Obviously its probably hyperbole in some instances but as someone with more siblings than most of the people I know, I 100% see the abuse reading of this series. It’s a very obvious idea to latch onto for me as someone who HAS been abused by my siblings- and who’s probably been abusive too.

The main thing that really gets under my skin is when people point out how much the turtles actually care about each other as evidence against abuse. Cause that doesn’t make any sense ??? you can abuse people you love and care about deeply.

And it really rubs me the wrong way when I see a post that’s like Raph can’t be abusive because he does X nice/cute things with Mikey or something like. That’s not how abuse works. You guys have to know that right?? Abuse isn’t just a person being mean 24/7 without pause.

A bit of a tangent coming up, but growing up, I really hated Mabel from gravity falls. not because she is inherently any more annoying or selfish or anything than other characters but because the way she treated dipper was extremely triggering for me as a child with a lot of anxiety. Like if Mabel was real and my sibling, I would’ve considered a lot of the shit she did abusive. Obviously I’m normal about her now cause I’m not 12 anymore but the biggest hurdle about watching that show when I was younger was that I would sometimes be brought to tears of frustration, imagining how scared and distressed I’d be if Mabel did that shit to me.

THE POINT of this tangent is that saying “the 2012 turtles aren’t abusive because I do that stuff with my siblings all the time/cause teenage boys are just like that” isn’t a genuine critique because abuse isn’t just about the action it’s about the relationship. Punching your sibling who’s actually ok with being punched isn’t abuse. Punching your sibling who really doesn’t want you to, and who you KNOW really doesn’t want you to, and who you KNOW would be genuinely upset by being punched? That is abuse.

And I find it annoying because I think we’re all aware that abuse was likely not the intent of the show. (Probably not even the text of the show but once again can’t say for sure) Maybe some dysfunction for drama, but probably not abuse, so you’re really just arguing against someone’s headcanon/personal interpretation of this show. And it’s like.. ok you have a different reading cool I guess.

In the show they aren’t treated as abusive, but fandoms are built around exploring different aspects of art that weren’t explored in canon. So I guess idk why this is a big deal.

Idk I think people have this idea that abusive = evil and always wrong. But abuse is just someone hurting you repeatedly and refusing to stop for whatever reason.

And with a show like 2012 where it’s all played for laughs it can be hard to tell if that’s how they are with each other because they’re ok with it or if that’s how they are cause they don’t know any other way. The turtles are kind of really mean in 2012, and wether that’s a familiarity kind of meanness or not is up to you in fandom, yknow?

Does Mikey actually consider Raph hitting him as like a fun part if their banter or is he coping with jokes about being physically abused? You decide! Like genuinely it can be either and I think that’s fun!

I mean obviously you all know what i’d pick, but that’s because I’m blissfully aware of what I want out of stories and what i want is nuanced discussions of abuse.

Personally, I acted very similarly to the 2012 turtles when living with my siblings, but I didn’t actually fucking like it. It was a defense mechanism because being genuine would only be met with ridicule. So I’m not inclined to agree that it’s fine because it’s just what they do.

Once again though, I doubt it was on purpose. And if you don’t think that they’re abusive then congrats! The show probably doesn’t either! So I just don’t see why people get super upset about it. Don’t you love that someone got a different story out of the same media??

Anyway obviously it doesn’t super matter and I don’t really have a horse in this race. I just got a bit annoyed with the way abuse is discussed and as a hobbyist Abuse Analyst I thought I’d weigh in.

I wrote this instead of going to sleep and it’s sooo late and also so much longer that I meant for it to be… y’all better not have bad takes in response or I’ll be annoyed as hell tomorrow morning, guh.

I love 'born to suffer and love' ♡♡♡♡ do u have any headcanons abt how donnie and the family are dealing with the aftermath ?

They are not handling it very well, I can tell you that much.

Donnie's like twice his normal size so he's almost completely uncoordinated. He still has his genius but it's...muddied. He's panicking and scared and in pain and it's hard to focus. His instincts are all messed up, he's in a body that's like twice his usual size and far bulkier than before, his shell his stiffer and covered in spikes, and he's suddenly got this big long tail that he has no idea how to control. Poor kid's a wreck.

So he tends to stay in one spot, I'm thinking a sort of pile of blankets and pillows in an easily accessible room where he doesn't have to worry to much about breaking stuff or crashing into things. If he has to move, he probably shuffles on all fours for the most part, moves rather slow because his center of balance is out of whack. He can stand on two legs but it makes him super tall and he stumbles a lot, doesn't really know how to move like that. But mostly he tends not to move because his body hurts; the rapid double mutation strained his body pretty bad so he's kind of dealing with on and off aches and pains and muscle spasms and just being really uncomfy.

Additionally, the double mutation has fucked with his inner biology. The two species of turtle DNA slamming into each other aren't mixing well, which is causing the pain, and it's messed with his organs too. He's having difficulty eating processed foods and has kinda been forced to eat fresh veggies, fruits, and nearly raw meat. He is not having good mouth feels. He gets stomach cramps and nausea sometimes too. Worse still is that it did something to his ability to speak. A combination of his vocal chords being twisted, the new shape of his face, his jaw, his teeth and tongue, it's all messed him up pretty bad. He speaks more in turtle than he does in English because it's easier. If he does talk, it's very choppy, lots of stuttering and difficulty pronouncing words correctly.

But to Donnie, the worst part is that he can't access his lab. Well, he can he just...can't use it. He's too big, too clumsy and uncoordinated. He's stronger and doesn't know how to control that strength to keep himself from breaking things. He can have his genius mind all he wants, but he can't even use it. He doesn't have his usual coping mechanism, his usual escape. He's trapped.

Donnie is miserable, in pain, and super self-conscious.

And then there's poor Raph.

He's definitely still Raphael Hamato. You can take away his body and mutagen, but his soul is still in there. The problem is, his little turtle body...wasn't built to process intelligent thought. So it gets a little complicated...

He knows he's...well he's pretty sure he's...he knows his bale. He knows them, even if he can't quite process who they are or understand that he loves them, they are his family and he knows that much at least. He knows the Hard-to-Open-Shell one that is smallest who holds him a lot, and he knows the Red-Marked one that smells sad sometimes, and he knows Mouthful-of-Fur is protector-guardian-strongest, and he knows Not-Turtle-Sister who does not look the same but is still bale. He gets a little confused by Soft-Fast-Swimmer because that one also smells like Ones-Who-Bite-Strongest and that doesn't...sit right in his mind and he can't figure out why. But he knows them all and he chirps and clicks at them all the same.

And he knows the Sound-That-They-Call-Him.

He looks up when they use the Sound-That-They-Call-Him. Not because he knows what they're say, he doesn't, he can't process their language, but he knows the sound. That's his sound, that's the one his bale chose for him.

So from the family's perspective, Raph appears to recognize his name. When they call it, he looks up at them. Unfortunately, the rest of the communication is nearly impossible. Raph's turtle brain thinks and processes things differently than a human's or even a mutant turtle's. So Leo, Mikey, and Donnie and kind of understand Raph's noises, but it's very confusing and they don't often know what Raph is trying to say to them. It took them a while to figure out that Raph was referring to them by their species rather than by names. And that....kinda hurt. It sucked. He didn't even know their names.

He doesn't seem to mind being picked up, as long as it's by his family. He even seems to enjoy being carried around with them and he likes snuggling up to them for naps. He can tell how distressed everyone is and he churrs and does his best to try and offer them comfort.

He's confused by Draxum and can't seem to decide whether to try and bite him or not. To him, Draxum feels dangerous but also almost seems like bale? He's very confused and thinking is too hard so he will just bite, thank you very much.

Speaking of, Draxum is working himself to the bone trying to figure out how to safely reverse the double mutation process. It's not impossible, but he's afraid of hurting Donnie and Raph even more. But he's also desperately afraid of failing them again. Drax is pretty messed up about what happened and he fully blames himself for it and he will do whatever it takes to fix things. His biggest problem is that he doesn't have access to a lot of the tools and equipment that would make fixing this easier. Donnie's letting Draxum use his lab, but there's only so much Drax can do at the moment.

Splinter, Leo, Mikey, and April are basically left to try and take care of Raph and Donnie.

I can see them setting up a kind of kiddie pool or something with water and a beach sort of thing and a heat lamp for Raph. They probably keep it in the same room as Donnie just so they can keep an eye on the both of them at the same time.

Leo's stressed as hell, especially about the state Donnie's in. He and Mikey work together to try and find food that Donnie's okay with eating. Leo wants to try and help with the pain relief, but he's wary about actually administering anything so he mostly sticks to hot pads and ice packs. Donnie appreciates it anyway. Leo's also assisting Draxum where he can. Donnie might be the tech genius, but Leo's got biology down pretty well. Mikey is fully upset and spends a day being nearly inconsolable before he pulls himself together. He, April, and Splinter are usually the ones keeping an eye on Donnie and Raph. Mikey tries to act like nothing's changed and tries not to treat Donnie any differently than before. But he's just a kid and he still slips up and asks questions and gets curious.

Things are rough for the family. Splinter probably considers going to Big Mama for help. It's an option that's not completely off the table, even if nobody likes it.

No one's completely happy, but they're not wallowing in misery. Or at least, they're trying not to. Donnie is very prone to slipping into a bout of self-loathing and depression and just laying miserably on the floor, not trying to do anything. Mikey and April try to keep his mind busy and entertained with movies, puzzles, board games, whatever they can get their hands on.

It's really tough for everyone.

Sure hope they figure out how to fix it.

Playing Mario Kart with Rise!Turtles

mario kart is one of the go-to games you guys play when you visit the lair

you both love playing games together and having fun with just the two of you

and he REALLY loves it

but his heart thumps against his plastron when you ask if he wants to play with his family (brothers, splinter, & april)

Raph is a family man; he loves hanging out with them and playing games is an exciting time

so when you want to include them??? so he can spend time with you both ????

the goofiest, most affectionate grin you've ever seen crosses his face and he nods

it's the day he decides he needs you in his life forever

he's much more competitive with his brothers, i'd think? just that sibling rivalry they share, honestly

if you're a competitive player too, he will so throw the heat your way.

but raph is all bark and no bite .. because he sucks at mario kart (95% of the time).

in fact, his brothers convince him to bet his pizza on some races because they know he'll lose

he's always eager for another round though because he's confident he'll win

but he has his hopes crushed every time, poor boy

.. or so people think

because, even if he was the best player in the world, he would purposefully throw his lead down the toilet if it meant seeing everyone happy

if you're struggling to catch up/win he'll sabotage his brothers on PURPOSE so that you can win

loves seeing you cheer triumphantly and do a lil victory dance (it's funny to see his brothers groan in defeat too)

i hate to say it, but .. donnie is the mario kart master

everybody dreads playing with him because he IS unbeatable

he knows all of the map shortcuts

if there's cheats for mario kart? he knows them too

is a master even in 200 CC

so he opts out of playing sometimes just because he doesn't have much of a challenge playing with his brothers

UNTIL he plays with you

then he gets riled up about mario kart all over again

he's almost just as cocky as leo is

smirks at you when he's the champion, cause he too wants a prize-

probably not one as intimate as leo's prize even if you're a couple; more than likely makes you test out his new tech or be his lab assistant for a LONG TIME

or he might use it as an excuse to ask you to cuddle with him

though he'll match whatever energy you're giving

So I reblogged a lot of your stuff as you probably saw. I love how everyone acts in your idea of the rise verse but I always wondered this. Since it’s the same voice in both the scroll and shredder. I think saki was feeding information on how to defeat him to his family hoping someone would free him and now his ghost hangs around as benevolent grandfatherly ghost.

Imagine if he and karai could inhabit suits of armor maybe donnie and Draxum made together and Inter at with everyone. Like someone announces grandpa is coming to visit and it’s a soft looking shredder coming to gift toys and snacks to CJ and Sheldon while 2012’s jaws are on the floor.

I can't say that everyone works in my version of canon, I just tend to have pretty general headcanons, flattered that you think so though :)

Anyway back to your absolutely wonderful headcanon!

The idea of Oroku Saki fighting back against the Krang's corruption to help his daughter and remaining family. Just for the slim chance for the world to survive his impending Krangification. A tragic sort of last recorded message that Karai had to have gotten, having to listen to this fragment of her father try to guide her to kill the rest of him. It's heartbreaking really.

But also the idea of Saki and Karai going all fmab and staying by their descendants and protecting them. Karai getting the chance to have her dad back, uncorrupted and happy. And for Saki to fully become a father and his own person outside of the Shredder, doting on his grandchildren like he always wanted to, when things where normal.

Now they walk the world again possessing suits of armour to be there for their family. Maybe even Atsuko[Splinter's mom] and Sho[Splinter's granpa] show up every now and then in little toy armours made to be taken over every now and then.

The fam can learn about the Hamato family history and stuff.

Angsty moments between Raph and Saki as they bond over both being Krangified.

Karai and Leo getting through their very suicidal self sacrificial tendencies together.

Things like that would be nice.

Course all that is like a lot to explain to the 2012 gang and all they really see is a supposedly smaller and less dangerous Shredder who never took off his armour.

Or even the 2003 gang, cause their Shredder was Krang so not completely filled suits of armour as like really bad for them. And 2003 Karai betrayed them a few times if I remember correctly.

But also like soft and oblivious Rise gang not noticing the others discomfort right away.

Splinter talking happily with Saki, Saki pats him on the back and 2012 immediately tense.

Everytime Mikey goes to hug Granpop Saki, the others would pause and watch waiting for something to go wrong.

CJ and Shelldon hanging out with Granpop alone and 2012 is confused and concerned with the Rise gang just letting their youngests members be alone with him.

⛔ tons, but for ROTTMNT the only one I think is the lair games fic I've talked about on here before. tldr: Donnie and Leo's sibling rivalry boils over, they get mad, they fight, they make up, everything is happy again.

I'll stick what I did write of it under the read more after I answer the other questions.

❌ setting aside the obvious dead dove sorta stuff, I'm at a point where I don't really like writing Major Character Death as the main point of the story (as an incidental plot point is a little different). I'm also not really interested in hurt/no comfort, there's gotta be at least SOMETHING there lol.

Donnie feeling so bad because that thing was used to end the world! But he's also never felt so fully and wholly understood. So accepted. So loved.

He feels the scars on his shell and he wishes he was still connected.

Anyway fic stuff (for the first question) under the cut:

“Boooo!” Leo jeered as Donnie stepped up beside Splinter, his first place medal swinging around his neck. “Boooo!”

“Silence from the peanut gallery!” Donnie demanded, glaring at him, and Leo smirked back. It was what he deserved for being a sore winner - all he’d done for the last week was recount his victory from the last year, to the point that even Mikey was getting annoyed with him.

(When Leo had said as much, Raph just replied that he was a sore winner too. To which, of course, he said pish posh.)

“Ahem,” Donnie continued, folding his hands behind his back. “Gentlemen, as winner of last year’s Lair Games, I want to start this speech by offering some uplifting words. I want this to be a fun day for all of us, and so I hope you play fair, leave it all out on the field, and prepare to eat nitrogen oxides BECAUSE YOU’RE ALL GETTING SMOKED AGAIN!”

“Oh brother,” Leo heard Mikey mutter under his breath, and he chuckled.

“Now as for the prize, I think I have come up with something that will pique your interest-”

“I’m not switching rooms with you,” Leo called.

“-something that is not my room, random audience member. No, I have something better.” He theatrically cleared his throat again. “The three losing brothers will have to do whatever the winning brother says for exactly one week, starting from the moment the competition ends, and the losing brothers can only say nice things about him.”

“Hey, wait, does that mean we can ask you to build anything we want?”

Raph gasped, pumping his arm excitedly in his seat. “I can finally get my skate hawks!”

“Eh, last year was a fluke.” Leo waved his hand as though to erase the past. “Great idea with the prize, though; can’t wait until you guys are all calling me “Master Leo”! Ooo, or maybe I should go with “Your Highness”? Oh, or what about, “The Great and Powerful and Handsome Leonardo”?”

Hello! I wanted to ask you a couple questions- specifically about your Flower Raph AU! (Spoiler they're all Raph Flower AU related lmao)

1: After seeing a post about the Isabella similarities (And the Waifu one), does Raph have any similarities to Poison Ivy from the DC universe? Like- can he talk to plants?

2: Does he garden like his IDW counterpart? Like- with help from the flowers of course.

3: Does his flowers bloom one single species, or multiple flowers? (Depending on his mood- a red plain flower, or a Petunia)

4: Is it just flowers, or can herbs and vines grow off his shell? NOW! THE BIG OL QUESTION: Would it be okay if I wrote stuff for the AU? I mean- I've seen someone ask if you'll write anything for it (You might have mentioned you will at some point... I can't remember lmao). RANDOM HEADCANONS

A collection of fun ideas I have about ROTTMNT and TMNT 2012.

Rise

The boys eyes glow in the dark.

While the 2012 guys have that somewhat creepy thing where their eyes go white, Rise just have creepy glowing eyes. Really creepy considering they have weirdly bright eyes.

Mikey painted on Leo’s marking on his body when he was younger. Donnie’s too. Leo’s just more often. He also made spikes to match with Raph. As he got older, he made three sweaters, each one made to match with his big brothers.

Raph likes having Make-Up on. The only problem is his hands aren't steady enough to do it him self. Mikey and Leo learned how to do it for Raph. They like wearing Make-Up too. But putting it on Raph was the reason they learned how to. Donnie makes sure that they only get the best stuff. Only the best stuff for his brothers.

They have self-care days with April. After Season 2 Cassandra joins in too and after the Movie Casey too. It always ends in a turtle pile while watching a Jupiter Jim Movie. Sometimes even a Lou Jitsu Movie.

The turtles jokingly call Draxum their mom. It started as a joke form Leo. Turns out Yoke don't have a concept of gender like humans do and Dram didn't really mind. The all have Draxum saved as some form of mom in their phones.

The boys used to share a bed for years. Until Mikey was about 7, the twins were 8 and Raph was 9. They still do that a lot. Most nights they sleep in their own beds but at least once a week they get every blanket and built a pillow fort in the living room and sleep there.

After the season 1 finale/season 2 premier, the season 2 finale and the movie they slept in the pillow fort for like two weeks.

Mikey banned all of his brothers from the kitchen. It's his kitchen.

Casey is a dumpster baby. Cassandra found him abandoned and all. She just picked him and an decided that she's a mom now.

Casey calls the teen versions of the turtles by their nicknames while the future ones stay Master Leonardo and so on. It helps him differentiate between the two versions.

He had a talk with Cassandra about the whole son from the future thing. He feels weird calling her mom, since she isn't the woman that raised him and she likely will never be. There was an awkward time between them at first. They became good friends soon enough.

Casey is everyones little brother. Mikey was so excited to be a big brother. Even if Casey is only a few months younger than him.

Casey is the only one spared of Dr. Delicate Touch. Not Dr. Feelings tho.

Mikey is teaching Casey how to cook. He enjoys it a lot.

Casey lives with the turtles in the lair.

Leo finally got everyone those matching unicorn onesies. Everyone loves them.

Leo and Donnie did that thing where twins switch for a day when their were younger. Mikey and Raph noticed immediately but Splinter, due to his poor eyesight didn't noice, he felt like something was off but didn't know what.

They still do it today, they just know they need a little more preparations. Donnie has a battle shell that looks exactly like Leos and a shell cover for Leo to look like his battle shell. They even pull out body paint. Mikey and Raph still noticed instantly, their eyes are wrong but let them have their fun anyway.

Mentioning their eyes, they have mismatched heterochromia. Their eyes are red and blue.

Donnie, Raph and Leo kept every single drawing Mikey ever made for them on one of their room walls. April has a folder with every drawing from him. Splinter also kept every drawing any of his sons ever gave him in folders.

Whenever Donnie wants a hug he'll walk up to one of his brothers and stare at them. When they look at him he just opens his arms.

Raph sometimes picks up one of his brothers and hold them like a baby to get them to sleep. It still works every time. Surprisingly enough it also works with Casey.

April tries to do the same for Raph but her version is more of a hug because of Raphs size. It works nonetheless.

One of the main reasons April gets jobs is so she can spoil her brothers. Every time she gets paid she comes to the layer with small gifts for each of them. A new plushie for Raph, a few parts for Donnie, a new comic for Leo and new set of pens for Mikey.

They get incredibly giddy every time she does it.

Cassandras Girl Scouts know about the turtles. She proclaimed one day that her new brothers and sister will be joining them take over the world and told the girls to respect them. The girls just ran with it.

Mikey comes by the most. He likes helping with new recipes. They made different recipes for everyones favorites and sell them. Leos favorite sell the best.

Cassandra felt out of place with the gang for a while until they casually mentioned that they have two older sisters now. She didn't cry, you're imagining shit.

She didn't have the best home life and that's why she joined the foot in the first place. She always wanted a real family. Now she has that and she'll do anything to keep her family safe.

2012

Mikey made bracelets when he was younger for all four of them. They don't fit them anymore but all of them still have them.

They've been meaning to remake them together but there wasn't any time. April and Casey eventually get them everything to make those bracelets.

April and Casey got the turtles sweaters for one of their birthdays. They wear them constantly.

They chose their masks themselves. Splinter brought found them and just brought them back to the lair. The boys liked them a lot. He always kept an eye open for fabrics in the respective colors ever since.

They made pillow forts regularly growing up.

Mikey still makes them after a long day and gets his brothers to have a turtle pile in there.

They occasionally talk in Japanese. Casey and April were a little confused at first, but slowly picked up a few things.

They do call Splinter dad sometimes. They used to do it more often when they were younger though. They also refer so Tang Shen as mom sometimes.

At one point Mikey called Karai Nee-chan. She almost cried. She brought him a pizza the next day, only him.

The girls have a girls night every once in a while. Sometimes they drag Leo along. He's an honorary girl. He really needs the break.

Leo likes typical feminine things. His brothers are sure that if they were human he would be a pretty boy and maybe even be mistaken as a girl. Not that he would mind that.

Donnie is incapable of saying no to Casey. He just can't. Casey knows this and abuses the power he has over Donnie.

Casey doesn't only use this power to get stuff out of it. He regularly drags Donnie out of his lab to get him to eat, take a break and sleep.

Casey's hair would actually be somewhat curly, if he took proper care of it. He eventually starts doing that.

Casey and Donnie are dating. Change my mind.

Raph and Mona have date night every Thursday. Their idea of date night consists of going on partol, getting some food and then cuddling while watching a movie.

Mona bridal carries Raph a lot. He gets all flustered every time.

Chompy thinks Mona is his second mom.

The brothers tend to just hang out in Donnies lab. Everyone is just doing their own thing. They do it more often after a stressful day or after one of them got injured badly.

They also used to seep in the same bed for a few years. Only until they were about 5 though. That's when they got their own rooms.

Nowadays they don't really do that anymore. They did however sleep in a turtle pile with Casey and April for the first few weeks in space.

After Splinter died the four also slept together for weeks. The whole living room was basically one huge bed for them for like a month or two.

Ah shit, I'm at it again because this is my only current hobby

Y'all I can and will take requests on these if you want me to, I'm just doing these to give my brain the happy juice .

That being said, here you have it:

the boys realizing that you care and actually want to be their friend

Raphael

You wouldn't admit that you'd stalked him to the roof

Absolutely not, you wouldn't stoop that low

at least not that you'd tell him

From the looks of it he was pissed, Raph got a certain face that you eventually picked up as his 'my brothers were being dicks and now I'm not gonna have emotions but I'm gonna be angry about it' face

His shoulders would get all hunched and you could hear his dejected sighing from about seven miles away

So you opted to clamber to the rooftop, gear and all and drop into a crouch next to the temperamental terrapin

"you look like someone lit your favorite book on fire and forced you to eat cauliflower, what gives?"

"well hello to you too huh?"

"I'll take that as a yes then, you get in another fight with what's his name?"

He refused to look at you, letting out an angry huff

"somethin' like that"

You only let him sit in silence for another minute or so before opening your mouth again

"well you being pissed doesn't help me any. There's a gang meeting just up the street, drugs and illegal shit. Wanna tag along?"

Raph had the decency to look appalled. You were offering to hang out with him? Willingly?

He wasn't expecting you to care

The last fight you two had before he had to leave hadn't been resolved yet

But after his slip up during patrol he needed someplace to go so he wouldn't take his anger out on his family

And that's how he showed on your balcony at whatever ungodly hour of the morning

You'd barely pulled the window open before you saw his expression, you couldn't help but sigh

"leo what the actual fuck?"

"I'm really sorry about this, I just didn't know where else to go"

You really didn't want to feel bad but you did, and your feet were really fucking cold

"get your ass in here. You're letting the cold air in."

He settled easily on your couch, seemingly awkward and avoiding any eye contact with you.

You returned to the room with a bathrobe on, an extra pillow and an armful of blankets

"you can crash here for the night, im off tomorrow but don't wake me up before nine or I will stab you. Let me know if you need anything, I'm just down the hall. And we'll talk everything over in the morning, okay?"

He nodded with a sigh of relief

"thank you y/n. And I'm sorry"

You just shook your head with a smile

"I don't even remember what we were arguing about leo. And you hanging here isnt a big deal. I need friends anyway."

Mikey had no idea why you wanted to see him

Technically speaking he wasn't even supposed to be out right now and he tried to ignore that as he sprinted further away from the lair

He was out of breath by the time he reached your window, the sun nearly gone and the street lights flickering to life

The turtle knocked twice on your window before coming in and yelling for you

"you good angelcakes?! Where're you at?"

There was a startling amount of crashing from your storage room, causing him to jolt slightly when you exploded out of the room with a huge smile on your face

"good you're here, sorry I used the emergency line but I knew you started patrol soon and I didn't want to forget to give you this"

And then you pulled out a tiny binder that reminded him of a scrapbook, however that definitely wasn't what it was because when he opened it multiple organized, clipped magazine recipes stared back at him

At his expression you seemed to explode with a bubble of excitement you didn't know you were capable of

"I remember you telling me that you liked cooking but sucked ass at organizing so when I accidentally ended up getting bored this week I made that for you so you wouldn't have to organize it."

You swore it was all the reading, spending your childhood analyzing characters because you had no friends made you quite the people reader

So the second the turtle showed up to read with you that night your book became an afterthought

he'd literally been there for nine seconds and you were already calling him out

"uh no? I'm fine"

You rolled your eyes and resisted a great urge to clonk yourself on the head with your book

"okay that's a fucking lie. Dude you didn't even say 'whats up stranger' when you got here and you expect me to believe you're just fine? Yeah right. Did something happen? Do you need to talk about it?"

The poor guy didn't even get the chance to open his mouth

"say I'm fine one more time and Im adding the moon to my list of favorite planets"

He didn't know what he was expecting you to say but it definitely wasn't that and now he was fighting the urge to laugh

"are you really making fun of my planet knowledge right now? Not very cool of you man. I know at least 2 constellations. There's ursa major and ursa not as major right over-"

It might've started as a normal chuckle but in under half a minute it had dissolved into that ridiculously adorable snorting laugh he did that usually left him breathless, you laughed along with him, hanging your head and giggling as you did so

tmnt x reader - Headcanon - PART 1

Pov: for external reasons ( your wifi wasn’t working, renovations in your apartment, hell, the whole building, pipe broke down you have no water for 3 days straight) you had to stay at the lair, it was all fun and games for the first 3-4 days, but routine had caught up with you and the turtles, you have never been that close to them for such long time. Which turtle wants you stay longer, and which one wants their space back?

not all turtles have a crush on y/n ( like, at the same time), but depending on which turtle you are reading, they have the crush on y/n (does that make sense? I hope it does )

Leo

🎏He wants you to stay

🎏( you thought I was going to say leave huh?)

🎏At first when you asked if you could stay some days at the lair he was a little bit... apprehensive? Not anxious per say, but definitely questionated if you would be comfortable, if your routines wouldn’t crash, could be keep up his “host” facade for that long?

🎏He was surprised how quiet you were, I mean, whenever everyone were at table for dinner or at game night you joked along, but during “normal activities” work, reading, studying, just, going through your day, you were so quiet. Did you not feel welcomed at the lair?

🎏Truth to be told you didn’t want to feel like a burden or a problem to them, you were already a new person in their space, so you just kept it to yourself. Took turns in who to ask something for if you need it, ( mostly tried to do stuff on your on) so no one would feel overwhelmed

🎏 Leo doesn’t want you to feel like you don’t belong, so whenever he makes tea, or it’s medication time at the dojo, he asks if you would like to join him, at first you thought it was just out of politeness, (and at first it was) but he insists so much that you give in, at some point you both get used to doing stuff together and like each others company

🎏 He loves his brothers? Yes. Loves spending time with them? Of course! But there are a certain amount of things that he would rather do with you, he feels... more comfortable doing so. Doesn’t feel pressured to put up the leader facade, to be serious all the time. he could be him with you, and there wasn’t many times that he could do that ( with master splinter he could, not all times tho. Lately there was so many foot activity going on that master wanted him to stay focused in almost all of their conversations ) so your hangouts were blissful to him

🎏he doesn’t even realize 4-5 days have gone by, when you finally get a call from your landlord that you can go back, he really wants to ask you to stay some more, not only he felt at ease talking to you, but he never slept better those last few days, for him, knowing that you were “under the same roof”, you were protected inside the lair, made him sleep so profoundly, it gave a sense of security he didn’t knew he craved.

🎏 he doesn’t have the heart to ask you tho. asking you to stay seems selfish of him, you have a life, you belong with the other humans out there, this last days with you made him feel so normal, but with that call it was like a bucket out cold icy water runing on this carapace, you both don’t belong in the same world, it was foolish to think anything like.. a relationship, could work between the both of you

🎏Leo gets so caught up in this intrusive ideas, he closes up. At first you think you did something wrong, everything was just fine minutes ago, but then maybe- just maybe, all of the tea you shared together, the shows you watched and the late night talks, was he just being nice? He didn’t want to spend all of that time with you, did he?

🎏 for the first time since you got in the lair, you felt bothersome, you pack your stuff fast, you don’t want to be a burden no longer, you say your thanks to his brothers and master splinter, apologize for any inconveniences, then when it comes to Leo, the air becomes heavier, it harder to read him, your throat tightens, you don’t know if you should thank or say sorry to him.

🎏 you walk alone through the sewer, moments before you got asked if you needed to be scorted, “it’s no problem” he assured, Leo was smiling but that were something in his eyes that made you question his words, you made your way as you declined his offer. It was easy to Make yourself believe it was the god awful smell that it was making your eyes water with tears

🎏 for the best days, Leo trained for hours, was harsher on patrol, at home, got more quiet than what he normally was. Everyone noticed, no one commented on it. He missed you, He wanted to you to back so bad, he wanted the late night talks, he endless laughter going on between both of you, but in no way he would tell you so.

🧨 don’t get me wrong, he loves the first 2 days you are there, my god. He had never felt so powerful at his own home

🧨Raph LOVES spending time with you, you make him feel like the funniest guy around, likes working out with you, or you just admiring him while he works out, wink wink ;)

🧨 has a lot of pent up tension from watching you workout, or just simply having you watch him train and such ( he is a horny man don’t look at me) and he might or might not think of you a lot... in the shower.. in his bed.. in the middle of the night... He lives for the thrill of you being so near him but would actually DIE if you caught him- Well, u know. Anyways, he lives for your attention

🧨Raph cares a lot about his exterior, specially with his crush is around. in his mind he has a reputation to maintain with you, so yeah, he does NOT want to embarrass himself in front of you, plus he needs to work on mikeys sweater and he hasn’t shown to you that he actually knits ( and it’s very self conscious to do so, will you think less of him for having such a... homey- Grandma material, Hobby?)

🧨 so yes; Raph would rather die than to let it rip next to you, but he wants to so bad oh my GOOOOOOD ( mind you this is crush state, if it was a s/o of long time you will need to deal with the monstrosity that comes from his behind, sorry), when he realizes that farts arent the only thing that needs to be let out he lowkey starts to panic ( no, he did not take a dump while you were there, is raph one of those ppl who has a shy 🍑 when there’s new people are around? That cannot go outside his own home? You bet he is)

🧨he does feel more at peace knowing you are safe and sound while sleeping at the lair like Leo, but when you get a call that you can go back to your home, he is upset... and relieved( won’t show the latter until you are out at the door and he’s running to the bathroom)

🧨 will miss you, your sassy remarks, your ass, your company in general, but will only notice those feelings after reclaiming his space back

🧨Mind you when he left his mighty trone, shit was so clogged, Donnie wanted to kill him ( because obviously he is the one to fix everything around the lair)

🧨for his disdain, Mikey had revived a long lost forgotten nickname from old days: Shit blaster 3000

🧨 (Mikey had to hide for 2 hours from Raph trying to beat up his ass from bringing that name back - which stuck for 2 days, mainly cuz Donnie was so pissed at him he wouldn’t let it go of the name)

Do you mind if I ask you about real boy Shelldon? because I love him and I want to know more. Like did he have to learn how to walk because his drone form didn't have legs, and is he super affectionate or does a lot of touch overwhelm him because the his senses are way different. Just any headcanons you have, because I love this boy.

Oh these are exciting questions! I do have a lot of ideas for Real Boy Shelldon, many of which I plan on making art or comics for. But I’ll be happy to share some of my headcanons and ideas of him!

RealBoy! Shelldon Headcannons:

Shelldon's favorite pizza is Hawaiian.

It takes him some time to get used to his new biological body. He has some trouble learning to walk and move around properly at first. Things like hunger and pain are also new to him.

For a while he gets overwhelmed by experiencing so many new sensations in general. Breathing, having a heartbeat, sounds, smells, touch, feelings – all of which he suddenly has to process in new ways other than in ones an zeros - can be a bit much at times.

He does like hugs though and often needs his family around to help ground him.

Shelldon gets along best with Mikey since they are the same "age" and maturity level. They like hanging out, playing video games, and skateboarding together. They also get into a lot of hijinks and trouble together – they are terrible influences on one another.

Mikey is excited to finally have a "little brother" (in age only, Shelldon is actually quite tall).

Shelldon is more than happy to give his immediate "older brother" a ride on his shoulders.

Shelldon gets into surfing.

He loves experimenting with food and creating weird food combinations. Pizza in a blender? Yup! All the random pizza toppings found in the '87 show? Of course! Hot sauce on ice cream? Delicious!

He often goes on missions with Raph, but gets distracted by things really easily and gets caught up in doing his own stuff, so most of the time they're really unproductive.

He and Donnie bond over Jupiter Jim films and their love of Atomic Lass.

Regarding his drone parts:

He still has his rotors to fly with in the back of his shell.

Despite having a soft shell, Shelldon likes keeping his back unobstructed so that he can use his rotors at anytime. He'll only wear hoodies or loose clothing when he feels comfortable and safe.

His robotic eye has night-vision, and can see outside the normal color spectrum like UV and infrared.

He can communicate with computers a bit. There is a notch in the back of his head that can be used to connect wires to for him to communicate with computers or provide access to the computer side of his brain.

He can occasionally pick up radio signals as well (which can also be a bit overwhelming at times).

He can also suffer from small technological issues like computer viruses and short-circuits (but it'd mostly just make him sleepy and a bit loopy since he still has his bio-brain to compensate).

The mutation managed to fit together his bio-body with his computer body pretty effectively, so he doesn't even need to "recharge" with electricity, and can just use his normal body energy (from food and such) to fuel his technological bits.

He thus has to eat a lot.

Overall, Shelldon is pretty open to going with the flow and trying new things, there's lots of new stuff to do now that he is alive.

Something I feel like a doofus for not realizing--

So I headcanon the turtles as quadruplets. It’s just the way I’ve always seen them, regardless of whatever varying canon. Of course they have their birth order from oldest to youngest (which I’m comfortable with the idea of it varying depending on the reality), but I came to the realization earlier today that I have been criminally not thinking through the full effects of them being quadruplets.

I HAVE BEEN IGNORANT TO THE POSSIBILITIES.

SO--

The standard arguments over who’s oldest.

Naturally-- in most cases-- Leo’s the oldest.

- So of course Leo pulls the “I don’t even know why we’re arguing about this” card.

- “But you could easily not be the oldest.” Donnie has to get his two cents in.

- “That’s ridiculous. We already know I’m oldest. Why is this even an issue?”

- “Ohohooo, Fearless doesn’t wanna admit he might not be the oldest!” Raph please.

- “...I’m done with this conversation.”

- “Leeeeooooo. Leeeeeoooo~. What if you’re younger than me Leeeeoooo~?” Leo knows everything’s going sideways when Mikey decides to get in on it since he’s the one who usually insists he’s youngest.

- “There’s no way I’m younger than you Mikey. I’m older than you. I’m sure even Raph is older than you, and he could be the youngest.”

- Donnie’s just, “...That didn’t even make sense.”

- “I’m still the oldest. Let’s just leave it at that.”

- Raph scoffing, “What, by two minutes? Doesn’t count.”

- “Still oldest.”

- The conversation doesn’t happen often, but when it does it can go on for a while.

Bouts of blaming things they each did on the others.

- “You thought it was me? I didn’t do that. It was Raph.”

- “Mikey, I saw you.”

- “Are you sure April? We are quadruplets y’know.”

- “You’re not identical! None of you are even twins by regular turtle standards.”

- “I’m sorry, I can’t hear you over the sound of how ‘not me’ and ‘it must have been one of the other three turtles who look exactly like me’ the whole situation is.”

- “You don’t even have the same scale-tone.”

- “Quaaaaad-ruuuu-pleeeeets~.”

“Donnie, did ya steal my elbow pads?”

- “Raph, why would I steal your elbow pads?”

- “’Cause they’re th’ same size as yours.”

- “Wh- No they’re not. We’re not even close to the same size.”

- “Sure we are.”

- “No we’re-- whatever. Check with Leo or Mikey. They’re closer to your size anyway.”

- “...Are you callin’ me fat?”

- “No. Just-- Raph no. You’re just bigger than I am.”

- “We’re quadruplets Donnie. For fuck’s sake. There ain’t that much of a size-difference.”

- “Will you get out of my lab already?!”

- It turns out Leo had Raph’s elbow pads all along.

Despite moments like the previous point, Donnie trying to get out of things so he can work on his projects by asking one of his brothers to substitute for him.

- Leo: “...You know this isn’t going to work, right?”

- “It will with the right amount of reptile-safe spray-tan.”

- “...I’m not even going to ask why you made that a thing.”

- Raph: “No offense Don, but I’m pretty sure th’ accent’s gonna give me away.”

- “So just don’t talk.”

- “...And the different shade o’ green.”

- “...I’ll come up with something.”

- “You are not bleachin’ my scales or whatever.”

- “I’d never ask you to do something that dangerous.”

- “Sure ya would, when it involves blowin’ stuff up.”

- “...When it involves blowing stuff up. Try wearing a trench coat and sticking to the shadows while not talking. Maybe fake laryngitis.”

- “Y’know, this’d be a lot easier if ya’d just go yourself.”

- “Nope. Projects. Coffee. Be my stand-in or I’ll tell Mikey to steal your gear again.”

- “It was Leo last time, genius.”

- Donnie grinning. “Are you sure?”

- “I think I know how ta tell our brothers apart Brainiac.”

- “But we’re quadruplets. We’re almost identical.”

- “You break that out when it benefits you, but ya deny it otherwise? That’s rude Don. That’s just cruel.”

- Mikey: “Are you sure this is a good idea?”

- “Sure I’m sure. If you have to, start talking about the theoretical physics of superheroes and Star Trek. No one will ever know.”

- Smiling. “I have my moments.”

Moments of Mikey shrieking, “You can’t hate me! I’m the baby! I’m the youngest!”

- “BY FIVE SECONDS!”

- “Now see, we don’t even know if it’s by seconds, minutes, or hou- aaaaaAAAAAAHHH!” Crash, thud, thump.

- “...Leo, is Mikey okay?”

- “I wouldn’t worry April. This happens on a pretty regular basis.”

- Crash, clatter, shriek. “Donniiieee, save me! As the best big brother ever, saaaave meeeee~!”

- Donnie sipping at his coffee, “Hm? What was that? I think I hear the sound of ‘We’re quadruplets, our birth order doesn’t matter, so Raph won’t kill you if he wants to stay second-oldest, and therefore Donnie doesn’t have to save you from anything’.”

- “Birth order ain’t ranking Don!”

- “I will find a way.”

- Mikey perking up. “Did you just paraphrase Jurassic Park?”

- “Maybe.”

- “DO-DO-DOOT-DOOT-DOOT~ DO-DO-DOOT-DOOT-DOOT~”

- “Mikey, I swear ta god, if you don’t stop singin’ that song like that-”

- “But the Jurassic Park theme is iconic! And I’m the baaaabyyyyy~!”

- (Anyone who has siblings, you know it’s true.)

At least several instances of one of them (probably most likely Donnie or Mikey) getting the four of them matching things with their specific colors-- blankets, coats, cups, whatever.

- The one time Leo did it (without actually being serious) he committed the heinous crime of getting them matching oversized ugly x-mas sweaters.

- Because they “looked warm”.

- Raph banned Leo from getting them matching anything for a year. His is stuffed somewhere in a closet or drawer in his room never to see the light of day if he has any say over it.

- Mikey insisted on wearing his proudly.

- Donnie kept his for use in the cold months, but otherwise denies its existence.

“Raph, why is Mikey sitting on your shoulders?”

- “‘Cause he likes ta feel tall. That a crime Fearless?”

- “We’re all the same height.”

- “No we’re not!”

- “Mikey... You were trying to argue that we’re identical just yesterday.”

- “Pffft. That was then, this is now. And Raph’s tallest.”

- From the direction of Donnie’s lab. “I told you that you’re bigger than me!”

- “Damn it Don, no I’m not.”

Y’all can go ahead and skip this part if you’re not interested in senseless rambling and just wanna get to the TMNT fun~ ;) 

Soooooo, I’ve recently updated my Tumblr page to a blog dedicated to all my fandoms (musing, headcanons, writing, gifs, pics, the works, basically anything and everything in relation to them) since I wasn’t really ever doing anything with it other than using it to share pics mostly. But ever since I stumbled back into the TMNT fandom, I’ve been searching Tumblr for fan content and OMGOSH, did I hit the jackpot! Headcanons, fanfics, Turtle x reader stories, so much juicy stuff! Am hooked! Dunno why I never tried searching for similar stuff in the past for my other fandoms! I guess I just... didn’t realize there was so much content here. :O But anyway, I always wanted a place to share ideas and thoughts regarding my fandoms outside of sites like Deviantart and Fanfiction.net, and heck, it’s been here under my nose all this time... Y’all gonna have to forgive me; I’m an old fart. ;P (Insert image of Slowpoke for reference) So without further ado...

Imma start this blog off really simple and, as the title states, just give you all a small-ish idea of where each TMNT universe stands (or ranks?) with me, personally... Note the ‘personally’ part so please don’t feel offended if I don’t share the same opinion as you on a particular verse. ^^; I have my own tastes and will respect the next person’s when it comes to them. ;) Also, please beware the typos (which there most definitely will be)...

MIRAGE COMICS~

Imma just say it: I haven’t read any of them yet. :/ There probably are sites out there that would allow you to view them online for free, but in truth, I’ve been a little slack about trying to find any... That may however change someday as I always tell myself I should really seek out the source material so it’s only a matter of time. What I do know, however, is that they’re of course a lot darker than most incarnations (which I don’t have a problem with personally) and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t curious as to exactly how much darker. X’D The closest I’ve come to ‘knowing’ these Turts comes from watching the Turtles Forever movie and they weren’t in it for a long time so it’s very difficult to say what they actually mean to me, so we’ll just put these guys down in the ‘not sure’ column for now. ;)

1987 CARTOON~

HAHA~ I think any fan of the franchise as a whole knows this little gem! The series that really hit it off and spawned over a 190 eps! Quite an impressive feat for a Saturday morning cartoon! It made its way to TVs the year before I was born, but it would take another few before it would reach our tubes (we’re always a few years behind the rest of the world :/ ) so I was around four when I was first introduced to it and needless to say, I loved it back then! Michelangelo was initially my fav due to him being my older brothers’ fav and the one they mainly spoke of, but it didn’t take long before my favering gravitated towards Leonardo (even at such a young age) and has been that way ever since. ;) But where exactly does the series stand with me as an adult nowadays with so many other verses we’ve been exposed to? I do hold a lot of nostalgia (as many older do) for it, and I mean, come on, that theme song is ageless, and I even started watching a lot of vids involving the original VAs and the shenanigans they get up to and seriously, it’s so heartwarming and fun to see them! But I have to be honest...

It’s not my fav verse, honestly. I will always adore them, of course, because of the nostalgia and the goofiness... But it’s the latter that’s mostly the reason for it being placed a bit lower on the favoritism ladder. While its a fun watch if you want something lighthearted, I still prefer the idea of the darker undertones that comes with being associated with ninjas. It’s just a preference. Plus, the Turtles designs are big one for me, and I’m sorry to say, but I keep seeing these fellas as more frog-like than turtle, despite the shells. X’D So yeah, no big reasoning for it, and even if someone were to ask me if I like these guys, I’ll still say yes, just that they’re not my ultimate fav is all. ;)

Also, we won’t talk about the Japanese Anime Ninja Turtles: Superman Legend or something to that extent... We’ll just let that one be gently swept under the carpet. ;) Only ever saw the trailer for it and that’s all I’ll ever need to see in my lifetime.

1990 MOVIES TRILOGY~

Now funny enough, I really don’t remember ever seeing these movies as a kid, though it’s possible I did and just maybe blocked the memory, but I highly doubt it... So yeah, I saw these movies as an adult already. The first is praised by most fans, and honestly, I can see why: it’s pretty good! :D The acting is very decent and the humour’s brilliant! The two sequels... not so much but still okay. ;) Where they sit with me... Not too far on the ladder again I’m afraid. :/ While I do really enjoy and appreciate the acting and that humour (”I made a funny.” X’D) it mostly comes down to the Turtles designs again... I really can’t see past them being actors in costumes rather than characters. :’( Granted, good actors. ;) And heck, Jim Henson did a phenomenal job! They’re just not really the movies for me is all, even if I do go back and watch ‘em every now and then. X’D I do however melt every time at the scene in the first movie where Raph wakes up in the bath and Leo’s there and apologizing and all... Makes me all gooey inside! X’D The feels are real! Speaking of Leo, though, he sounds even younger than Mikey. Small nitpick, that, but... why? X’D

But yeah, let’s just say, they’re good movies, just, not my favs.

Also, Coming Out Of Their Shells tour... Yeah, I’m gonna just... pretend that doesn’t exist for a minute.

2003/2k3~

Well it wasn’t already apparent by my avatar... Ladies and gents, I present to you... My fav TMNT verse to date! Oh my goodness, where do I even begin with this delicious series?! :D Firstly, animation: so appealing, comic book-y style! Their designs: without sounding pervy, veeeeeeeery appealing (hehehehehe), no seriously, they sometimes have a bitta bulk to them but it honestly works, and dem muscles, and the cool eyes! The VAs: spot on! Perfect! Wouldn’t have ‘em any other way! Make me melt, Mr. Michael Sinterniklaas~ (cough) Their personalities: Omgosh, just yes! So perfect! They’re easily differentiated and yet still work together so well. Leo’s mature and level-headed (well, most of the time ;P ) yet still gets tested a lot and even has a fun side that’s shown on occasion. Raph’s grouchy and violent but is shown on more than one occasion that’s he’s total softie and really does care. Don’s just a sweetheart and freakishly smart and even has slips ups from time to time. Mikey... omgosh, best Mikey ever! So much fun! So hilarious! And just a bundle of energy, but not at all an idiot like he’s sometimes portrayed in other verses. He’s witty, mischievous and just so adorable! Heck, even Master Splinter, April, Casey, the lot of them are just awesome in this series! And wow, they really do lean more towards the source material (or so I’m told) when it comes to the plots! It’s darker than the other previous verses yet still remaining kid-friendly (although I question it at times XD) and omgosh, it’s just everything I want in a TMNT universe! Granted, it’s not perfect perfect, but it nailed it for me. ;) It really showed so lovely character developments, alsortsa different genres, the humour will leave you in stitches, the Turts are all just so lovable, I can’t get enough of them! This series was really my high point and I’ve yet to find one that tops it~

Btw, this even includes Fast Forward and Back to the Sewer (BTTS). The former being my least fav of the series simply due to the setting and again, it’s just preference. I even liked BTTS, even though I’m not overly fond of a cyberspace setting, but I found myself really liking the art style and the general plot. :D 

2007/2k7~

As with the last, if you’ve picked up on the page’s header/banner, you’d have probably guessed that the 2007 movie is also a good candidate for one my favs... And you’d be correct. ;) I’m actually very fond of this movie, and it’s largely due to the Turtles designs. I love how they were done! They just look so cool! <3 Subtle differences tell the viewer who’s who even if they didn’t have a mask or weapons. The VAs were also pretty good~ Now, the story isn’t the greatest, I’ll admit. Personally I thought it was okay, but know many fans think otherwise. But I did like the confrontation between Leo and Raph! It got real there, peeps! :O Now here’s also where it falls a little on its face for me: I didn’t really like how they handled Leo’s personality (if you haven’t already picked up on it, yes, I’m a Leo fangirl and I’m picky when it comes to how they handle his personality) but it’s a nitpick again, yet, I still feel compelled to state my opinion: the whole “I’m better than you.” comment really took me back and made me think they pushed it. I honestly like to believe he’d never actually say something like that... at least, 2003!Leo wouldn’t. X’D But that’s just my problem: I’m comparing a different verse’s Leo to this one and whether I like it or not, he said it. :/ Oh well, it still made for some fun action scenes and I’ll still always like the movie.

Bit of a goof on my side: I honestly thought that this movie was made to tie in with the 2003!verse due to the timeline in which it was produced, but turns out, it’s actually closer to the 1990′s timeline although still considered it’s own verse.

2012/2k12~

Oooh boy, lemme prepare for the backlash real quick... I’m uhhhh... not a fan of these boys. :/ I don’t mind them, but I’m honestly never gonna watch the series again. It’s hard to top your fav when you’ve kinda already hit your high point, ya know. Now before you light your torches and sharpen your pitchforks, hear me out: I will never bash the series, or make fun of anyone who likes it! Or anything to that extent! It’s just wasn’t for me, plain and simple, and it’s got nothing to do with it being ‘new’ or I’m just an old fart stuck in my ways. Heck, If you’re still reading, you would’ve found out that even nostalgia couldn’t beat the series that grasped me in my teens! So no, it has nothing to do with age. But if you do need a reason: I wasn’t overly fond of how they handle the characters. For one, they look and act a bit too young, Mikey is just... wow, something else. Donnie’s... sheesh, pretty snappy and antagonising. Raph’s well... okay, he’s meant to be angry half the time, and they did give him some more layers with Spike and Mona Lisa and whatnot, but he still kinda never learns his lesson if I can say that? He’ll learn that he shouldn’t cause issues with others, yet next episode he’s back at it again. :/ Leo’s... wow, just not like other Leos. X’D Best way I can describe him is... young? Very childlike. And even when he was progressing to becoming this better leader, I honestly couldn’t even see the change. My mind was just stuck on this “He’s a babeh.” notion. Also, I’m not even gonna start on this April and Casey. Just. No. Most of the characters were annoying and I just kept seeing recycled plot after plot. What I did like was the romance that blossomed between Raph and Mona (albeit far too rushed) and even Donnie liking April was adorable (but seriously Donnie, you can do so much better), and there were some really heartfelt moments, like Splinter telling Leo to leo his brothers with his heart and not his head, and the scenes when they were Tots will always make me squeal... But yeah... without leaving any spoilers.... about Splinter... just... thanks, Nickelodeon. Y’all know what I mean. Not once... But twice.... Really? So yeah, look, I realized some of those reasons might even be petty, but again, it’s just not the series for me, but anyone who’s a fan... You keep being a fan! ;) I’m glad you can enjoy something I can’t. ;)

2014/2k14/2016/2k16 AKA BAYVERSE~

HAHA~ Every fan’s favorite... If only. X’D Jokes aside, despite many fans claiming the Bay movies ruined the franchise, these two films gathered a small following... And I’m apart of it. :) Funny enough, I honestly didn’t know what to think of them when the movie first came out. I think I was just taken aback by the sheer amount of detail and all that went into their designs. I didn’t not like them, but again, their designs were a lot to take in. :O Even now after seeing the movies quite a few times over, I find myself constantly discovering something I didn’t notice on them before, be it a strap or a scar etc. And it honestly took some getting use to their sizes, I mean, sheesh! :O Not to mention the different background story, and Megan Fox’s wooden, expressionless acting, but despite all that... I found myself actually growing attached to these hulks of Turtles. They still have a lot of that heart in them and plus they’re just so much fun, I mean, can we say ‘Elevator scene’? X’D Now again, not perfect by anys mean, but still fun and pretty decent incarnations to add to the franchise. Again, Leo’s been given this ‘Better than you’ a bit which irked me to be frank. Not always but it’s there sometimes, but otherwise alright. Raph’s a decent Raph. Even had some tender moments. Donnie’s adorable! X’D This slightly potty mouthed geek that you just gotta love. And Mikey... although given that bitta ‘idiot’ feel, is also just as lovable and you want to hug him every time he’s onscreen! 

In short, I like ‘em. :) They’re actually closer to the top of the ladder than some others.

RISE OF THE TMNT/ROTTMNT/2018/2K18~

Yeeeeeeeeuuuuuuh... no. Sorry. Not for me. :/ Again, gonna remind y’all, nothing to do with age. Nothing to do with change. I will say that the fluid animation is nice, and the fact that they chose 2D animation. :) Buuuuuut, wow, they were certainly a lot to take in. Almost as much as Bay’s Turtles. After watching a few eps, I will conclude that they really just aren’t what I’m looking for. I found that the constant joking, while sometimes funny, got a little bit much, plus such short eps. Raph being leader was a switch and one that took awhile to get use to and honestly, I’m just not for it, I don’t even know where to begin with Donnie, Mikey’s okay, Leo... (deep breath) I don’t know what they were thinking... Let’s not even go to Master Splinter. But anyways, I get that change was what they were going for and that it was more so based on the 1987 toon with the silliness so that’s fine. I’m glad it’s got so many fans. :) And honestly, I wanna end off just by saying...

That no matter what your thoughts on what I’ve said, I hope you can respect my opinions and choices cause at the end of the day, they’re just my own, and I will always respect yours! :D If you adore the verses I’m not too crazy about, that’s great! :D I want you all to love the heck out of them! And honestly, this is what’s so great about this franchise: there are so many verses to choose from! So many options and tastes to suit any and all! You don’t have to follow the masses! You go enjoy whichever incarnation(s) you want to! ;)
