im refusing to listen to the new taylor swift album. i gave midnights a chance, and was HEAVILY disappointed. everything I've heard in tiktok snippets and everyone's reactions have put me off, and i want to say that both adoration and annoyance, critics and applause, have put me off on both sides. so don't come at me with "oh don't listen to the HATERS" idgaf. i don't give a single fuck! I'm getting fucking TIRED of her brand being more and more obviously not who she really is, despite her being more and more insistent that it is. she's not a "tortured poet" she's a fucking billionaire pop artist. it's so weird seeing her try and capitalize on two very different personas: one where she's the queen of everything, a girlboss, god of pop, maker of the industry nobody can beat, haters can kiss her ass...but also so misunderstood and deep and introverted and please feel bad for her. Like, I'm sure she has problems, but i don't wanna listen about them after being subjected to her goddamn eras tour online and seeing her carbon footprint. go to a therapist, girl, I'm SURE you can afford it. what's her brand is now with the grey photography and shower thoughts feels so disingenuous when the first lyric i see (that's not a copypasta) from her long awaited "deep, tortured, you'll never understand how i grew up" album is about how your football boyfriend fingers you while on call with his video game buddies. i thought the line about wanting to live in slave times was a copypasta but it's real! girl shut the fuck up. the creek near by grandparent's house is deeper than you're entire 31 song album. the asylum that raised you gave you more power than GOD and you can make your fanbase sob with a london reference to a 4-month relationship TEN YEARS AGO. she has good music, but I'm hesitant to say she's still making good music. and even if she did every day i see her fans sob piss and shit themselves over a "thesaurus entry + middle school level philosophy" lyric i hate her more and more.

I'm going to be distancing myself from the Sanders Sides fandom. I will say that I no longer see Thomas Sanders as any kind of role model or person to look up to. Some of his actions recently aren't things I can easily overlook. I was already feeling the hyperfixation fading, but. Yeah. Final nails in the coffin. He doesn't need my views, obviously, but I won't be giving them anyway. Changed my header and pfp. Honestly, some of his characters will probably still bring me comfort, but the channel itself cannot be untangled from his actions for me. Considering orphaning my ts-content fan works on AO3 too. That's a hefty decision, as those works make up the vast majority of my creative efforts over the last six years. We'll see. I don't want to let his actions ruin my creations for me. Sorry this is scattered, but. Yeah. Idk, I'm just very disappointed.

my formal stance on the ice spice collab is that it most likely was born before the healy rumors. ice spice would have to write her part, then both have to record, then it goes through post-production. ice spice would have to plan to show up at the eras tour concerts.

sanders sides in its current state is so funny. new content is released fairly regularly but also there hasn't been an official update in nearly four years and I don't think anyone even believes the s2 finale exists. it’s really funny that taylor has adopted a reputation for being well-read and book smart because every time she opens her mouth about a real world issue i am forcibly reminded that she stopped going into school after 10th grade (her words), and even then, her formal education was provided by the state of tennessee.

to frame patriarchy as this inherent thing that has ALWAYS existed and is as naturally occurring as a blue sky, is just not true. and to frame capitalism as this thing that is inherent is also just… not true. i could never unpack in just a post why those claims are ahistorical, but i will say that it is fucking nuts to look at an issue of capitalism and say “yeah it’s a problem, but, well, i’m just going to win at it 🤩” and call it feminism.

and that is the problem with white feminism. it just turns into idiots trying to speak on single topics and cherry pick their agendas, even though, in a sociopolitical or socioeconomic sense, it doesn’t work like that. you cannot talk about feminism without discussing western society, organized religion, global superpowers, communities of color, colonization, climate change, corporations, monopolies and more. anything less is useless at best and misleading at worst.

it’s like how greta thunberg said that she started as just a climate change activist, but now she’s basically a total anti-capitalist advocating for a complete disruption and overthrow to the way the world currently runs because she realized that advocating for that and advocating for climate justice are one and the same.

taylor’s feminism will NEVER surpass the self-serving role it fills in her life because to do so would mean confronting the bigotry she has upheld, the questionable people she spends her time with, the wealth she is hoarding, her impact on the environment, and much more.

Sorry if this is random, but not many people are in the rswr fandom so you may be flooded with questions for the next week.

how related do you think Roman from sanders sides is to Roman from rswr? I know they address it in the first episode a little, but it’s still unclear to me. They seem very different in terms of personality and goals. It can’t be a coincidence because Thomas sanders wouldn’t just use one of the names of his well established characters for nothing.

This is a topic that's been rattling around my head for a while so here goes

I would agree with you there, sanders sides and roleslaying with roman are very different. Different universe, characters, message, tone, etc. I think there's probably no in-universe connection between the two series tbh (although it can be fun to imagine the roleslaying universe as the creation of princey, for example).

Some people call roleslaying a spin-off of sanders sides but I'm not a fan of that tbh. It's a show that involves a guy who makes another show, not a spin off. Roleslaying has a much larger cast of entirely new characters, much more worldbuilding and whats looking to be a more complicated plot. Spin-offs usually take place at least in the same universe as the original media, but that's clearly not whats happening here.

Plus if it was a spin-off or if sanders sides had any real in-universe significance to roleslaying, "doc" Janus probably would have had more than 5 minutes screen time and Roman would be more similar to side!Roman

Personally, I think that dnd is the kind of game where someone who has an established oc might choose to adapt them to fit a new universe, because people are very attached to their ocs and it's fun! I do feel that at it's core, roleslaying is just thomas and his friends having fun and telling us a cool story as theu do it.

So Roman was taken from the sanders sides universe because he was an established character who Thomas enjoyed playing, and then he created a new character based partially on side!Roman and partially adapted to better fit the context of the campaign. A prince really wouldn't have fit with the story they're telling here, and changing that part of Princey changes a lot of Roman's character so we end up with a very different person. But they have the same name because rswr!Roman came from side!Roman.

When it comes to doc Janus, some people might say that he was there as a way to grab sanders sides fans' attention and in some ways I'd agree. But I also think his inclusion in the story (and likely any inclusion of other ts characters in the future) probably started from AJ thinking "hey my friend has these cool ocs, and the character he's playing is already inspired by them, I bet he'd enjoy it if we put some of his ocs into the campaign!" But doc janus isn't plot relevant or anything because at the end of the day, roleslaying isn't supposed to be a spin-off or sanders sides focused at all

So. This got a bit longer than I was expecting but to summarise. I think that the roleslaying and sanders sides universes are totally separate, but they have references between them just for fun. It's like the equivalent of putting a character into a private campaign as a reference to an inside joke, except theres an audience who's also in on it

I know my mutuals have a lot of thoughts on this topic too so if anyone else has something to say, go ahead! This is just how I personally think of the 2 universes and what I'm guessing the intentions are behind how they reference each other

i'm honestly so confused where the general assumption i've seen more and more comes from that gale is insecure about his looks or body.

he has grey hairs, he has fine lines, he has the odd scar--and he never once mentions or indicates that it's a thing that irks him or something he feels like he needs to hide.

on the contrary, gale seems quite comfortable in his body.

gale has a lot of insecurity in him, but this insecurity is anchored in other parts of himself that i feel like are overlooked in order to project something on his character that... isn't really there.

if you want to dig deep into gale's insecurities, i think you'd need to look into something that instead is very blatantly obvious in the game: being good enough for who he is.

i'm also a bit confused by some of the body type headcanons i have seen that i feel veer sort of into age bias territory, but i'm not sure i've organised my thoughts enough to speak about this yet with the sensitivity it requires.

i honestly feel like this a matter of people on this site needing to learn that people in their 30s/40s exist and that they don't die with shame when they leave the house.
