Day 10 of [ELITISIM’S 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS ADVENT EXTRAVAGANZA!]] is Much, MUCH needed love to the fine gentlemen of TS3. So funny story, this was this primarily supposed to be a cold weather menswear pack that I was supposed to post back in like late-September/EARLY October, it was literally called the equinox collection... but then the fall equinox passed, and I didn't know what the rename it, and I didn't feel like remaking the graphics...so now it's Christmas gifts!

4t3 Conversion: Short Curls Hair - Growing Together EP

This hair is super cute. It hasn't been converted as far as I know so I thought I'd do it. I can see my sims getting a lot of use out of this one.

I tried to fit the mesh as closely to the head as possible but it's not perfect.

It's now or never… My first lipstick conversion! It's not perfect, of course, but it's acceptable. And it works well with transparency slider! It makes lips slightly more pouty but nothing crazy, it won't completely change your sim's lips shape. I'm so nervous about it, lol. Now onto the official part!

[sims 3 tutorial] how to make lazy previews of objects with TSRW & GIMP 2.0

Standard borderless previews for objects without special effects

this option turns the background white, which we need

Take two pictures of your object, one with the bump map on, and one without.

use the 'magic wand' tool to select the black parts of the bump map version 'copy' the entire regular image, and 'paste' 'into selection in place' on the bump map version. copy while the selection is still active, and paste as a new image.

How to make a bordered preview of a standard object with no special effects

Take a picture of your object in TSRW at your desired angle.

Open this image in your desired photo editing program. I am using GIMP 2.0.

Use the magic wand tool at threshold level 1.0 to select the white part of the image. you may need to shift select more parts of the image if they are closed off like the area between the prongs.

go to 'select' and 'invert selection' depending on the image, you may need to use the 'remove holes' tool. in the 'select' tab 'grow' the selection to your desired thickness. i like anywhere from 5-10. 'copy' your image while the selection is active, and 'paste' as a new image.

All done!

How to make a borderless preview of an object with transperency…

i have this fruit parfait that has 3 groups [drop shadow, glass cup, and the parfait itself. these groups can be hidden in the mash tab by toggling 'true' or 'false'. im gonna mark these true or false depending on what i want to take a picture of.

I need a photo of the parfait only, one regular, one with the bump map on. a photo of the glass only, one regular, one with the bump map on. I do this using "windowed mode" with the snipping tool so that my pictures are in the same location.

Open all of these images in your editing program of choice, however i am using GIMP 2.0 so things might be a bit different.

Open a new transparent image 1000x1000

'select' the black bump map image with the magic wand tool, until it is completely outlined

Then copy the entire regular version and 'paste' into 'selection' 'in place'

copy this while the selection is active and paste it in place to your transparent image.

Now for the transparent part, do what we just did and paste it as a new layer on the transparent image. erase parts of the image that do not appear, for me i erased the top part since its actually behind the parfait.

Much better. now lower the opacity and merge this layer with the one below it

All done!

A small discovery about plant meshes I wanted to share..

This is a converted plant from TS4 Cottage Living. Looks fine, right?

BUT. If you're fond of using bright or vibrant colors in recoloring objects, it will become like this:

a closer look:

As you can see there's color bleeding around the plant edges, and it follows the object's color you set it up with (again, very obvious when you use bright colors).

This is a 1x1 wall object, just a small one so the effect doesn't look too obvious when zooming out. But once you work on bigger meshes it becomes a problem (well, at least aesthetically).

The culprit: a mask that covers every part of the mesh, including the part where the plant overlay is supposed to be. Example below (mask part set with lower opacity to show which areas are covered)

The workaround:

As said above, the problem is triggered by covering the plant overlay with the mask, so the solution is to avoid covering it (as in leave the plant overlay part transparent).

And also this only happens when you give the object a single recolorable channel (red only mask). When you enable the second (green) channel the color bleeding will magically disappeear.

And here's another waaaaay more sensible solution. As I brought this problem up at @ts3creatorscave Discord, @deniisu (thank you very much! 😊) advised: to cover the plant overlay area as black (0,0,0/#000000) so that it won't be touched by the color channels. (left: mask + multiplier with the mask at around 50% opacity, right: actual mask)

And as a result, you'll not have bleeding plant edges anymore, no matter how bright you recolor your object as you wanted.

Sims 3 CC creator : I'm trying to create teeth mask !

Hi everyone, I am trying to create custom content but I can't find any resource to help me out as a beginner. I created a teeth mask, I thought it was easier to start by that. When I apply it on my Sim, he gets a glowy face, my teeth works but the glowy face is not wanted 😅.

I followed the Moonskin93 tutorial on how to make the teeth mask : http://www.mediafire.com/?7g6pta472wpvvn0. When I tried to apply the tutorial's dds file, I get a glowy face also.

I used Photoshop for customizing the DDS file, TSR Workshop to create the package based on Makeup overlay.

Everytime I tried another version of my package file (10 times to be specific), I uninstalled and deleted the old sims3packagefile, I cleaned the cache and reinstall the new sims3package file.

TS3 CC not showing up in-game, marked as "package.disabled"

Okay, so ever since about June, I've had this issue: I installed the CC Magic mod, and immediately after that, half of my CC stop working and said it was disabled. I've tried to remove "disabled" from the package name, as someone on Reddit told me to do that, but it didn't work.

What can do I to fix this that doesn't involve tediously downloading each item again? I use Windows 10 on a 2020 (or 2019) Motile laptop. I tried Windows 11 to see if that would fix it, but it didn't. (And I loathe Windows 11.)

Pu+Chi House CC - Seeking Help!

Hey guys, I'm trying to make a Pu Chi House folder because all their Google Drive links have been deleted/privatized, but I've only found a few so far. Missing pictures are in the "missing" folder. does anybody know how to work the sims 3 mod organizer? do i keep the packages in the mods folder or is the modsbuild folder enough? do i merge the overrides folder and the no build sparkles and skip intro packages? i've tried everything and when i launch the game all my cc is missing :( i'm probably doing something wrong

The Sims and the rabbithole of CC

Like, don't you hate it when you're browsing some CC finds site, you find a cool creator, you go to their page, find another cool creator, open up their page in a new tab, and OH WOW LOOK AT THAT it's another new creator making content YOU ABSOLUTELY NEEEEEED. And you get to this.

This absolute monstruosity of a window. How many tabs? Don't know. Will I still open up new tabs because I found new content to download and can't close the other ones because I'll go back to them later? Yes. Someone help me. This rabbithole is making me look CC up for hours, I still have to finish my ts3 world and to convert some doors from TS4 to TS3 and stuff, but I can't stop scrolling CC finds.

sul sul!! im looking for some older cc blogs (like 2013-14ish?) with cc thats like maxis match (if thats a thing in the sims 3) because i dont really like the conversions or hyper realistic stuff bcuz they always look too out of place in my game😭😭 im mainly looking for cas stuff

Sul Sul! I know @matchsim @aroundthesims @anubis convert more of the maxis style for The Sims 3. As for older blogs, sadly a lot have been deactivated and I tried looking for more maxis style blogs.
