TODDLER BATHTIME OVERRIDES by xBrilliantsims
Me and my excellent photoshop skills are back with another small override to improve the quality of historic gameplay!
It felt weird when my decades sims in the 1890′s started bathing her toddler and the sponge was a pink teddy and the duck was too bright.
So... now the sponge is a spongey color, the teddy face... not completely gone but not as visible, and the duck is wooden. Ahh... much better!
You can get them both or separately. Maybe you just want a wooden ducky or a brown sponge. The merged one is simply called Bathtime_Overrides. Not need to get the ones called ducky and sponge if you get that one.
You can find them HERE <---- SFS (no adfly)
Please note that this is an override of the original and will replace them. If you want the pink sponge and yellow ducky back, just remove the package(es) from your mods folder.
Please enjoy and let me know if you run into any trouble.
Also, it would be great if you would consider reblogging if you like this so that other historical gameplayers see it!

Following on from the simple modesty of the 1300s, female hair in the 1400s became a lot more elaborate thanks to the addition of hair pieces, ribbon and other decorations. Braided styles evolved into very detailed and decorative concoctions. Styles also became more flowy and romantic, often with curls framing the face. CC links under the cut.

Trois femmes aux ombrelles
And we're back at the regular 1880's fashion with this set which inludes bustle skirts in 3 lenghts, 2 skirt overlays, 3 flower accessories, a parasol and an umbrella !
More pics and download below
As referenced in the title, this set was inspired by Marie Bracquemont’s painting : Trois femmes aux ombrelles ou Les Trois grâces / Three Ladies with Parasols or Three Graces, 1880.
Thanks to @javitrulovesims for making the perfect pose for this set !
———————————   Skirts  ———————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
Once again, these skirts have a slight bustle shape which would best fit for the natural form era : roughly 1875 - 1883 ; (well actually, the size of the bustle is dependant on the size of the sim’s butt so do with that what you will). They are more ornate than my Cueillette skirts featuring some gathered layers and trims typical of the period, so they would be better suited for higher class people or more dressed up occasions.
And as always I give you 3 versions with each a different lenght to have more teen options and worker friendly options . The short one end mid calf, the medium one is ankle lenght and the long is full lenght.
74 swatches : 22 solids, 10 floral, 6 plaid, 25 striped & 11 polka dot patterns
3 lenghts : S, M & L
————————— Skirt Overlays —————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
These two overlays will allow to respectively change the gathered layers and the trim swatches in order to channel the trim crazy period that were the 1880's.
Tumblr media
in the middle finger section
74 swatches for the skirt overlay : 22 solids, 10 florals, 6 plaids, 25 stripes & 11 polka dots patterns
22 solid swatches for the trim overlay
———————— Flower Accessories ————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
To properly channel Marie Bracquemond's painting I needed a bunch of flower accessories so you will find 3 accessories in this set : a hair flower, a collar flower and a boutonnière. In my opinion these are pretty timeless and can suit a wide array of looks as portrayed in the pictures below.
These are all edits of @the-melancholy-maiden's Hair Flowers Through the Ages Part 2 thanks to her very open TOU.
Tumblr media
none of these are compatible with hats
51 swatches : the-melancholy-maiden's original 29 colors and my 22 colors
the collar flower and the boutonnière are in the necklace section
the hair flower is in the hat section, available for both female and male frames
the hair flower is hat slider compatible
————————   Parasol & Umbrella  ————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
I made both an umbrella and a lacey parasol (using Javi's texture). These are rather timeless too I think, they are definetely suited for late victorian and edwardian eras.
These are both edits of @javitrulovesims's Meiji Komorebi Accessory Parasol, thank you Javi !
NOT compatible with necklaces, earrings, piercings or anything using the same UVmap (such as kijiko's lashes unfortunatly)
in the right index finger section
45 swatches : 2 colors for the frame and handle, 22 for the canopy and 1 fully black swatch

The Soddy
A CC Free Prairie Homestead
Lot size: 40x30 Price: §37,341 Lot type: Residential Location: Biscuit's Bastion, Chestnut Ridge
Homesteading and the settlement of the American west has always been a particular interest of mine and recently I've become very interested in sod houses! I toyed with the idea of recreating one in Sims but never had a good world or assets to work with. When I fell into my little building bender a few weeks ago I realized Chestnut Ridge was perfect for it and promptly hyperfixated.
This home is ideal for a couple or small family just trying to make their way in the prairie of Chestnut Ridge. The house can fit up to three sims and a baby or toddler, perhaps a bit snug for our modern standards but perfectly alright for the nineteenth century. Also comes complete with fertile fields, an empty chicken coop, a slightly decrepit horse barn, and a well stocked root cellar.
More info and download under the cut:
This house is heavily inspired by Prairie Homestead in South Dakota. When I started kicking around the idea of this build I started googling for reference photos and discovered this very cool historic site. I tried to match this build to its real life counterpart more than I usually do, as the interior that they have set up for that house was just so fun and unique feeling. The exterior is inspired by it, but sim lot constraints required more creative license. I highly recommend you look at some photos, it really is such an interesting place.
Sod houses, which were constructed by cutting hunks of the top layer of the grasslands (which were held together by the strong roots of the native grasses) were common throughout the latter part of the nineteenth century and began to peter out in the early part of the twentieth century. They weren't the most luxurious accommodations, but did have the virtue of being warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
Unfortunately as the walls were made from the earth, bugs could be an issue and I've given this lot the creepy crawlies bug challenge for ~realism~. It's also off-the-grid, and has a functional root cellar (meaning I put the fridge down there, have fun in thunderstorms).
This lot is fully playtested (might have been the most I've played in a while actually, I wanted to make sure the crib worked). Please please enjoy this build. I know I always say it but this one is actually my favorite, and making this work with the constraints of Sims 4 terrain tools was quite the undertaking and I'm so pleased with it.
If you use it please tag me in any photos, I love seeing what y'all get up to with my builds!!

Cloth Diapers for Infants
I use @teanmoon’s tied cloth diaper all the time for the toddlers in my ultimate decades challenge and I needed a version for infants, so I decided to edit my own. Unlike the original, the knot here is not 3D because I can’t mesh but also the 2D knot works better for infants I think. This just uses the bg infant diaper mesh with an edit of teanmoon’s texture.

During the 1890s and the early twentieth century, infants, no matter their sex, were dressed in long white gowns that could be bleached cleaned. This fashion remained the same until WW1 as rationing meant that hemlines shortened. Bonnets remained common accessories though the hair bow gained popularity for baby girls in the 1910s.
By the 1920s, baby fashion in line with adult clothing, was sailor inspired and hemlines crept higher up. This trend continued to the 1930s as the great depression meant fabric was scarce and expensive. In fact, for poorer families, infant clothing was handmade with whatever was available, including flour sacks and old curtains.
The 1940s meant WW2 and any sort of elaborateness was very frowned upon. Fabrics were cheap cottons and almost always recycled and knit clothing rose in popularity.
Prosperity and affluence defined the 1950s and this was reflected in baby clothing. Baby boys were dressed similar to older men in little suits with shorts instead of long pants and little girls in full, babydoll dresses. This era also established the stereotypical blue for boys;pink for girls that remains till today.

1930s Loookbook
After the roaring 20s, fashion became more conservative in the 1930s, with hair and hemlines getting longer again. The era was defined by the great depression, after the stock market crashed in 1929, and lasted through almost the whole decade. Many families during this time began making dresses from flour sacks, and so companies began printing textiles on the sacks for extra reusability. Despite the decade's widespread poverty, fashion themes of femininity and elegance prevailed, inspired by Hollywood stars like Joan Crawford.

Inès - an 1890s daydress
Tumblr media
Here's a not-so-little recolor of this dress by Kizaragy. I'm not sure if they have a tumblr, which is unfortunate because all I want to do is tell them how absolutely BREATHTAKING their dress is, and how well it works for the 1890s. Oh well. I'm telling the world instead, I suppose.
I'd say this style of dress was most fashionable between around 1892 and 1894, but you could probably use it for the whole 1890s, maybe even up to the early 1900s. It really depends on how closely your Sims follow fashion trends, I suppose.
There are swatches in more extravagant, "expensive" colors, as well as simpler, less bright ones. This means it's a very versatile dress in terms of class as well. Anyone from a farmer's wife to a noblewoman could wear it.
I also noticed that the mesh and texture are quite nicely divided into a top and bottom half, so I made some swatch overlays for the skirt as well. There's a separate link to that underneath the download links for the dress itself.

Known issues: The original has a thing where it makes certain hats invisible, similarly to how a long-sleeved shirt makes bracelets invisible, except it's much more annoying, because what's an 1890s dress without hats? I can't fix this in a recolor since the mesh isn't included, but I've provided a short tutorial on how to fix this in the original. You're gonna need Sims 4 Studio (Star) installed.

Next in 1930s fashion is Zelda Darlington, who now goes by her wedded name Duplanchier. Although her looks here much more subdued than they were in the 1920s, they fit not only her current life but also her personality. We even see a retroactive return to many of muted tones she wore in her younger years. While these colors are more subdued than the bright ones she wore in New Orleans, they are also far from the somber palette of Josephine’s looks. Rather, they are calming and earthy, much in the same way Zelda views her life now.
Many of her looks are also suitable for work, although there are still hints of a more fanciful style of dress that she enjoyed in the last decade. This includes her wedding look, and even the silk party dress that she has now; however the latter is very much in line with the silhouette of this decade, representing Zelda embrace not only of their new life, but also the hyper-feminine, almost romantic looks that are now in fashion and well aligned with her personal style.
However, much of the growing rigidity of style in the 1930s as compared to the 1920s is absent in her looks, in part due to her lifestyle but also her personal fashion. We can see this perhaps most clearly in her hair, which is cut to a modern length but never really worn in the heavily styled coiffures and curls of the period. And of course her outfits are rounded out by her personal choice of pearls, now always seen in her wedding ring, and her sister Rosella’s floral pressed jewelry.
All CC linked under the cut.
Everyday 1: hair / headband / earrings / dress / apron / ring (TSR Warning) / shoes (Base Game)
Everyday 2: hair / necklace / dress / ring
Going Out: hat / hair / dress / shoes (TSR Warning)
Party: earrings / necklace / dress
Underwear: romper
Sleepwear: nightgown (TSR Warning)
Wedding: earrings / headband / lipstick / dress / shoes
Hot Weather: dress

1890s Lookbook — Evaline Mendoza 📜
Starting off this revival with a lookbook for Evaline! I tried to convey that although Evaline has grown up wealthy, she left all of that behind when she married Walter. When she ran away to elope, she of course took a few of her belongings with her. The jewelry she didn't pawn off would be worn only with her formal attired, and the dress itself is a remnant from her past. The rest of her clothing would be semi-new; dresses that are new to her but not newly made. They're gifts from Walter's family, dresses his mother and sisters would have worn.
Although she doesn't have all of that money anymore, Evaline still likes to dress herself nicely. She keeps her long, black hair up in a bun according to the trends of the time, and the sleeves are still big and the hems long. I think she will be much more hesitant to change with the times once the 1910s come along, as she cherishes the 1890s and all they offer her.
If you'd like to know where any piece of cc came from, send me an ask!

The 1400s gave way to the incredibly iconic accessories of the 1500s, namely hoods (both Gabled and French) and ruffs. While the end of the Tudor era saw the popularity of headdresses decline in favour of uncovered hair decorated with jewels, diadems, and feathers, prior to that headdresses were a vital part of court dress. In fact, the style of hood worn was often used as a political statement amongst the nobility. Hats had always been in fashion for men, but the 16th century saw them also become a fashion staple for women. CC links and reference images under the cut.

At the Theater
It's me again ! I won't rest easy until I'm done filling the gaps in my 1880s wardrobe and evening wear sure was a big one. So here, come and look at these 1870's / 1880's evening bodices, 4 of them ! You're welcome, just don't use them for gardening or the historical fashion police will be on your back ❤️
More pics and download below
This set was inspired by 2 of Mary Cassatt's paintings : as referenced in the title, At the Theater, 1880 and Woman in a Loge, 1879.
Tumblr media
——————— Plain and Bow Bodices ———————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
These 2 bodice are the ones that are most inspired by Mary Cassatt's paintings, but it's also a style I've seen a bunch in other impressionist paintings of the time. It's a simple sleek bodice with off the shoulder sleeves and a low rounded collar as was fashionable in the late 1870s and early 1880s.
It is specially made to be worn over my bustle skirts. An overlay is included to change the bow's color.
74 swatches for the bodices : 22 solids, 10 floral, 6 plaid, 25 striped & 11 polka dot patterns
22 solid swatches for the bow overlay
the bow overlay is in the right wrist section
Disclaimer :
1 -be aware there will be some distorsion in the armpit area, I did my best but armpit weights are tricky.
2 - the patterned swatches will not be seamless in that same armpit region as you can see below it's quite cluncky :
Tumblr media
————————— Rococo Bodice —————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
This bodice, like the name implies, is inspired by Rococo fashion. The Rococo style dates back to the 18th century and it had a bit of a revival during the victorian era which impacted the fashion as much as the interior decor among other things. This influence, here, results in a squarish neck line and a triangle piece reminiscent of 18th century stomachers.
Like the the plain and bow bodices it has been specially made to be worn over my bustle skirts. An overlay is included to change the trim's color.
74 swatches for the bodice : 22 solids, 10 florals, 6 plaids, 25 stripes & 11 polka dots patterns
22 solid swatches for the Rococo trim overlay
the Rococo trim overlay is in the right wrist section
————————— Flower Bodice —————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
This bodice was mostly inspired by some fashion plates from 1880.
Contrary to the 3 others, I made it so it sits under the skirt, so it'll work with other bottoms than my bustle skirt too should you want to.
74 swatches for the bodice : 22 solids, 10 florals, 6 plaids, 25 stripes & 11 polka dots patterns
62 swatches with various color combinations for the flower overlay
the flower overlay is in the right wrist section
——————————   Boutonnière  —————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
In addition to the flower accessories from my previous set, here is a boutonnière that sits lower on the chest to work with lower neck lines. Contrary to my previous boutonnière, this one is also compatible with necklaces. Like my other flower accessories, this is a pretty timeless accessory as evidence by the picture below.
Once again this is an edit of @the-melancholy-maiden's Hair Flowers Through the Ages Part 2 thanks to her very open TOU.
Tumblr media
not compatible with hats
in the nose piercing section (so that it's compatible with necklace)
51 swatches : the-melancholy-maiden's original 29 colors and my 22 colors
available for female frames
———————————————————————————
Download : dropbox — simfileshare
———————————————————————————
And as a little bonus some of my reference main reference pictures :
